This place is a reliable Mexican spot for any of you Humboldt Park residents. I haven't tried a ton of stuff here, but I really like the Tacos De Chile Relleno, Tacos A La Mexicanan and the Torta De Milaneza. As an aside, this place is open until 2:00 AM Monday through Friday and 3:00 AM on Saturday, so if you find yourself drunk and hungry in Humboldt Park, you do have an option other than the McDonalds next door.

This place is a block from my house. I'm becoming more of a mexican food fan than I already was and my waistline is feeling the aftermath. This place is super good. I think the guac is good, the tostatdas are good, the salsa is hot but has tons of flavor. And they're like burger king - "have it your way". The people are nice and service is good and it makes for a great snack at 2 am.

La Perla is our favorite place in the neighborhood. It's rarely busy, has great service, and the al pastor tacos and burritos are great.

TACOS TACOS TACOS So i have been scanning the city for random taco places to get another taco fix. I do not know where this random taco craving came from but at some point i ate nothing but tacos for a month! Now that i am thinking about it; i think i want a Taco!!! Well this place was a very random stop. I was driving down north ave and as always was starving again. I saw this place, busted a U-turn and walked right in. I seated myself and the server came ASAP with water, salsa and chips. I ordered 3 steak tacos with lettuce, cilantro, tomatoes and cheese. My tacos came up in less than 5 minutes and YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were amazing! I absolutely do not have any complaints! I have been back over 13 times (check my "check ins" LOL). I have tried so many different taco places and this one by far is my favorite place. The steak was seasoned just right, the salsa verde was great and their horchata is very tasty. Service as always is fast and friendly! I like this place and would recommend it to all my friends. Ugh i think i am going to go get a freaking taco now

I came here during RiotFest 2014 (when it should be said that all of the local restaurants were slammed with the influx of hungry concert-goers) and had 2 great experiences. The burritos are hearty, flavorful, and were equally good both times that I ordered them (I went for the chicken; a friend tried the beef.) The burrito was neither dripping wet nor full of rice as a filler, just a well made (and skillfully wrapped!) burrito that stayed tightly wound until the last bite. This place is a hole in the wall and easy to pass - I suggest looking extra hard for it! The menu also boasted a huge selection of tacos, and had the burrito not been so delicious, I would have tried them on the second visit. FWIW, the staff was also quite friendly. This place deserves your attention.

As far as taquerias go, I'm glad La Perla is just around the corner in my neighborhood. The food has always been solid on my visits, from their al pastor to the assortment of dishes "a la Mexicana" -- with tomato, onion, beef, and jalapenos. I also find the veggies they use to be particularly fresh. The menu isn't too huge (better for indecisive want-everythingers like myself), but has enough variety that I keep finding new things I like. Ask for the green sauce, which they don't keep out on tables, pour until your heart is content, and be glad you chose this mom-and-pop spot over one of the overabundant fast food chains nearby. A burrito will only set you back about $4.50 and last most folks for two meals, so it's well worth the cash, too. They're not breaking any new ground here, but La Perla's food is dependably good and makes for a solid choices for a good, quick meal on the block.

I love this place. They have quality Mexican food for a good price. Tortillas taste like they are made fresh on site. The service was good and my parents truly enjoyed their dinner.

This place is so close to me, but I forget to go there. Maybe it's because their burritos put me in a stupor. They're great. Solid. Actually, I forget to go there because I can never remember when they're open. And it's cash only, yo. This is the kind of place that is a true hole in the wall. Good luck getting your order across in English (get ready to point at what you want). Of course, I speak just enough Spanish to make sure I get the burrito al pastor. That's good because that's all I ever want from here. They're awfully friendly here and they make a great burrito. I hope they're doing OK.

There food is awesome! It looks like a little hole in the wall, which means it has the best food! If you get the dinner, good luck finishing it. They give a lot of food and A LOT of guac! Cons: Only cash and no margaritas!

Worst Mexican food joint ever. Not only does the food suck but the odds that you will get what you ordered when you walk out of there is a crap shoot.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
