I ordered delivery from them tonight. I went with the classics: Pad Thai and pot stickers. I found the woman that took my order and the delivery guy to be very pleasant, and it didn't take long for me to get my delivery. At least half the time they said it was going to be. When I first opened the bag I noticed that there were two cokes that I didn't order. So, I stood there for a bit pondering whether or not they charged me for them, or decided to give me two free cokes. I decided to take the ignorant, but positive, mindset of "they must have decided to give me two free cokes." I love pot stickers, so I took a happy chomp into one and when the flavor hit my tongue it plopped it back onto my plate. These pot stickers were clearly the kind that you buy at your local Costco. The kind with the sad grey mystery meat, and bits of cabbage. Anyway, after that first bite they instantly went into the garbage. The pad thai on the other hand made my tongue happy again. The noodles were chewing in the good kind of way, and the sauce was delicious. I will probably give them another shot though. I had my eye on their Thai style chicken wings and their "crazy" noodles. *takes sip of "free" coke*

Most authentic, tasty Thai food in Chicago. It really is, having tasted several Thai restaurants including those rated 4 stars or higher on Yelp, King of Noodles is simply the best option in the city. The area is surrounded by several other popular options, thus driving crowds to famous soup (pho) restaurants, but I think I found a gem. Everything ordered was superb Thai, sauces seemingly made in house. I've had Thai Pastry, which is around the corner, but after a meal at King of Noodles...I found a better Thai option. Try it!

My wife and I have tried almost every Thai restaurant on down Argyle & Sheridan. Both agree that King of Thai Noodles and Rice is awesome. The restaurant is clean, the service is great and most import the food is authentic Thai. If your ever up north and crave to some good authentic Thai food, drop in King of Thai Noodles and Rice.

Great thai food! Being a thai person, I have to say I was very impressed with the menu selection here. Very authentic dishes! They have dishes that are not easy to come by in any old Thai restaurant in Chicago. Their noodle dishes are great and my favorite is the stirfry suki-yaki dish. I would highly recommend it if you want something delicious and healthy. Their appetizer of fried meat balls is also excellent. Takes me right back home with that dish. So yes, two thumbs up!

I join those who say that this place should be busier. This is some of the best Thai food in Chicago. If pad thai is your thing, theirs is the best in the city (this is based on the fact that the sauce is balanced and authentic and not cloyingly sweet, is a deep orange color partly because they actually make it with tamarind, which you can taste, rather than opening some crappy pre-made sauce packet, and the noodle texture is always perfect--not too mushy, not too sticky). If Thai soup noodles are your thing, I can think of few places in Chicago that have real Thai guay tieaw (their duck noodles, wonton noodles, and beef noodle soup are all meals I have ordered and enjoyed many times, and my Thai mom said that their yen ta fo tastes exactly as it should). Other great dishes include the Thai basil chicken (gai pad kra pao), khao man gai, and se krong moo tod (little tasty fried spareribs that have been marinated in something delicious). Their menu is smaller than many Thai restaurants, but that's because everything they offer is tasty and authentic. Give it a try. Time to start giving this little gem the credit and patronage it deserves.

I'm not so sure I understand the appeal to this place. From top down, the order was disappointing and overwhelmingly subpar. Papaya salad? One of my favorites. King of Thai's was delivered after sitting in the fridge for a few days too long (not even close to fresh) and it smelled like death. Tom yum soup? Also a favorite. King of Thai's was salted far too much, making it inedible. Curry? My dining partner loves it. To bad King of Thai's was weak, flavorless and lukewarm. All in all, this is your run of the mill Thai place that disappoints in about every way possible. My first and last attempt to eat here. I'll go to a little Thai place down the road near the Sheridan stop next time.

This Thai joint is a convenient go-to, and for the most part, the food is sure to impress. While I'm not usually the first to go for fried chicken, I thought their curry fried rice with fried chicken was exceptionally tasty. I try other items on the menu, and while I'm almost always pleased, I keep wanting to go back to the curry rice dish. The only dish I'm not sold on is their pad see eiw. The sauce has an iron/bloody after-taste and it's a little too sweet for me (and that's saying something... I have an incomparable sweet tooth). The answer is yes.

Great little Thai spot. I had the Tom Yum Noodle dish.

OK -- this place has earned its title. My boyfriend and I are new to Uptown after a few years away and were looking for a new go-to delivery Thai place in the area. After eating my way through dozens of offerings citywide, I think I'm ready to bestow the crown of favorite Thai place to the King. Here's why: -We both adored our main entrees -- pad thai for him, drunken noodle for me. The flavors were very well balanced, the textures were first-rate, everything was.. perfection. -Appetizers, good-to-great -- the tofu appetizer was super delicious, and the veggie potstickers were fine, if a bit average (as other reviews have noted) -Delivery-- A+ -- fast and it came with two (apparently free?) Cokes -Prices were great, portions were generous but not insane Can't wait to order from here again, a major step up from the Thai offerings in Logan Square.

This place has the best pad thai in the uptown/edgewater area. And I thoroughly appreciate the free canned cokes that they automatically include in the order. I always do take-out here and it's amazing. Kudos goes out to the King of Thai.

Stellar food. Pretty good BBQ pork & rice. Was expecting fried rice, but probably was my fault I didn't get it. Chicken & rice noodles were good too. Fish cakes are weird texture, good flavor though. My first try so that's just me. I liked it.

Would give 0 stars if possible. Ordered 2 chicken pad Thai's and steamed pot stickers for delivery for my Fiancée and I last night. The pot stickers weren't memorable, probably wouldn't order again. The Pad Thai was the worst I've ever had. I usually love pad Thai and my Fiancée usually always finishes his. It tasted like it had marinara sauce on it. Try to imagine eating marinara sauce with peanuts and lime, disgusting. I barely ate any. I ended up throwing everything away. Worst part about this whole experience was that both of us felt sick afterwards. Luckily the feeling didn't last into the morning.

I have literally never been inside this space. However, I have ordered from here at least 25 times. I'm not kidding. We have tried ordering Thai food from other places, but nowhere else EVER measures up to this place. The one dish I will forever come back for is their Tom Yum Soup. It is sour and spicy (honestly I order it with Tofu to calm down the spiciness, but it's ridiculously good), and it has some root-vegetable seasonings similar to ginger. If you're sensitive to spiciness, I don't know if this is for you, but you might be able to ask if you can order it less spicy. The other dish I absolutely love is the Thai Crazy noodles. There is fresh thai basil mixed in with tossed wide rice noodles and onion and egg. It's SO good. I've had many other things on this menu. Other awesome dishes include the pot stickers, their Pad Thai, Fish Cake, the roast duck noodles, the tom yum noodles...the list goes on. In short, this place is awesome, it's inexpensive, and their delivery is always on time. I can't give a 5 only based on delivery, but one of these days I'll go in and probably end up bumping them up. Try this place!

Okay, so in the intervening two weeks, I've also had the Kao Min Kai (steamed chicken and rice), Pad Thai, Thai Crazy Noodles, and sticky rice as a side. Everything has been good. Better appetizers would make this place a goldmine. Delivery is fast, and the food is delicious. I'm sold.

Overall the food is reasonably priced and pretty good....why only 3 stars u ask? Well... I work down the street, so we choose to order from there since it's close (although it still takes 45min+ for delivery when I'm less than a mile away)....the first mistake was delivering the wrong soup...then this last order was suppose to be pad thai with tofu...instead it was with chicken....which isn't cool since the other person doesn't eat meat. All in all, the food is decent, but getting our orders wrong sure does grind my gears!

Best Thai food in Chicago!! The price is right and their delivery is always on time. They have the best Tom Yum soup that I have ever had, every other place is a disappointment after eating King of Thai.

Came here on a whim after seeing their menu and the interesting items on the menu, some i recognized and some that i didn't. Do not let the empty restaurant fool you. Though it is a misplaced thai restaurant in an area full of vietnamese cuisine, this place is a gem. They offer so much more than your "regular" thai cuisine. (like boat noodles, tom yum noodles, steamed pork cakes etc) Came here with friends and got the salted crab papaya salad, steamed rice with chicken, drunken noodles and the fried chicken with steamed rice. The papaya salad had the right flavor but the papaya was a bit too ripe so the salad overall lacked a bit of crunch. I also wished they gave more salted crab but im just nitpicking. The chicken and steamed rice here is very delicious and so savory but o so bad for your health. It is so similar to the Singaporean Hainanese chicken rice except the rice isn't made the same way. The Singaporeans use coconut milk and chicken stock; the Thais exclude the coconut milk and just use chicken broth. Both use oily broths, so the rice has a lot of flavor and is soooo delicious. The sauce is also different, Hainan only has ginger puree, while this is a mixture of ginger puree and sauce. If you get the chance definitely consider yourself lucky that there is no wait here and definitely sit down and order away. Will definitely come here again and explore the other items on their menu.

Tried King of Thai for first time tonight after trying many thai restaurants in the edgewater/uptown area. I ordered pad see ewe with beef, egg rolls, and Tom yum soup. Pad see ewe was great, just what I was looking for. I could have done with a little less salt but overall I would order it again. Egg rolls were crunchy and fresh tasting. The dipping sauce was very good. Only disappointing part was the Tom Yum soup. I ordered with tofu but it was so spicy I couldn't eat more than one bite.

At the risk of the place getting crowded, but in the hope of gathering more people to the dinning room, I must say that King of Thai is the best Thai food in Uptown, IMO. The steamed chicken and rice dish alone is enough reason to give this place a try. It is without a doubt, the best Thai dish I've ever tasted. Simply prepared yet so full of flavor. Walking in this evening, a Friday, to pick up take-out, I was shocked to enter a completely empty restaurant. Please, y'all, go to King of Thai! It is worth the visit. It would be a shame it they closed.

In a neighborhood dominated by Vietnamese cuisine, King of Thai is by far in a way the best Thai food you will find. They have a friendly, hard working staff. I strongly recommend their Pad Thai and Mussaman Curry with steamed pot stickers for appetizers. Most items on the menu can be made with meat or vegetarian. They offer delivery and carry out, but the dining in atmosphere is great as well. I'm a big fan of dining on Argyle Street, and I would recommend King of Thai Noodles and Rice above all other restaurants.

I was in the neighborhood and amongst the numerous Vietnamese restaurants in the area (yes I even skipped over Tank Noodle!), I decided I wanted Thai instead. I stopped in to order Thai Fried Rice to go and the restaurant was completely empty. It was almost dinner time so that surprised me a little. For the price, the fried rice was very good and spicy - just the way I like it. Friendly staff too.

I came here with my boyfriend Whitey and we loved the food. We had the PAd Thai and the crab Rangoon. Let me tell you, it was delicious! The server, I think his name was V? Was so nice :) and helpful. He explain each dish very well. He also always had a big smile on his face :D The food was brought out on time and it was mouth watering delicious. I recommended everyone to go there!!

The Pad See Ewe was Amazing!!! I am particularly critical about Thai food, having taken many cooking classes in Thailand. This is definitely my favorite Pad See Ewe in Chicago so far. The Green Curry here was not my taste, a little too flat- missing the balance of salty and sweet that piques a good curry. I will stick to the noodle and roast specialties here. But the Thom Kha more than made up for it. Sooo amazing and tangy-sweet!!! I would definitely order from here again. Very authentic and delicious!

Surprisingly great food!! Don't ask me why I have waited for so long to try it. I am sure glad I did. I had the infamous Roast Duck Noodle and Pad Thai. I give two thumbs up for both very tasty dishes. Give them a try!!!

Found this on Grubhub.com As soon as I got home I threw out my other Thai menu's (seriously). I LOVE KING OF THAI NOODLES AND RICE. The Panang Curry is out of this world... I'm in love with the Pad Thai... Spring Rolls = Amazing! Pot Stickers = Heaven. Seriously try this place, you'll be glad you did... The first time we ate here we did a sit down dinner in the restaurant and the waitress was on top of things and she was great... The restaurant is super clean (big bonus) When we ordered delivery, it was right one time AND with two free cans of Coke. How f'n wonderful! On time and a free drinks! SCORE!

Great place! We usually get delivery from here, so I guess we are part of the empty dining room problem. The food is always top notch, and our favorite Thai place in the area. Unlike a lot of local thai food, it's also not super oily but has great flavors. Sure, some things are a delight of delicious fat (see the steamed chicken and rice), but other dishes have just as much as they need to be tasty but not greasy. I also love their selection of noodle soups. I'm a sucker for tom yum noodle. Delivery is always prompt and friendly. We often get free cans of coke too! What's not to like?

Just moved to Uptown a few weeks ago, and this place has already become my go-to Thai delivery joint. My wife and I have ordered a few times, and everything we've had so far has been very good. Delivery is relatively fast, the food is always hot, and so far no errors. We'll definitely keep ordering from this place.

My girlfriend lives near there and when we're feeling lazy, I call in an order of pad thai and panang curry. Its ready by the time i get there (under 20 mins) and its always delicious. I go pretty often.. I'm very surprised they are never that busy.

The very first time I tried this restaurant was when they first opened. I ordered duck noodle and I thought it was a little too sweet. A couple weeks ago, I came home and gave this place another try and it was just fantastic! I had boat noodle soup with pork. For those who don't know, the broth of this dish is mixed in with pork blood, which added the thickness to the soup. A lot of people might find it disturbing but I find it DELICIOUS. The noodle soup was awesome and authentically scrumptious. If I didn't live in AZ, I would be back for more. We stopped by at this restaurant at an awkward time, 4pm, the restaurant was dead but the service was great! Also, be sure to bring some cash if you are not planning on spending more than $10. However, parking could be a challenged task for a weekend trip. Bottom-line, the soothing noodle soup could make you forget about the cold Chicago winter (until you take your first step out of the restaurant).

Only gotten delivery so far, so I don't know what the place is like inside, but it's fairly timely delivery, not too slow, nor suspiciously fast (as if they just scooped hunks of pre-made food into containers). Had their food several times now, so i feel comfortable saying that you need to order the right things. Maybe its my Western tastes, but some of the things I've had have just been plain funky tasting. Others have been a bit bland. But I think an average red-blooded American would agree with me on the following dishes, which I now order every time: 1) Thai Style Chicken Wings: drummettes and wing segments deep-fried and served with a spicy dipping sauce, should you so choose to use it. A little goes a long way. 2) Pad See Ew: however you choose to spell this dish, its delicious. Usually get it with beef, but whatever you want, its gonna have the greens, which are so crisp and fresh-tasting, they really make the dish. 3) Panang Curry: admittedly I have had it once or twice be a bit weaker, as if they watered it down some, but most times it is pretty thick and scrumptious. Chicken is my preferred meat in this one, but again, you can't go wrong no matter what you desire. 4) Tom Yum Noodles: its a soup, or something very much like one, even if its not in the soup section of the menu. They seem to do soups and noodle dishes quite well. Even when my wife tried to order from memory but couldn't recall what the soup was called, she got something tasty. Wasn't this one, but similar. Think they have several noodle dishes with broth that are sort of like this one,, but this is our standby. Got some fish-ball thingos in it, and bean sprouts. Its good, though not what Westerners are exactly used to in a soup. Recommended. The first three on my list are musts for me, though my wife doesn't like the curry, and I will often just leave the Tom Yum noodles for her, since she adores them. Anywise, take it from someone who has tried quite a fair few Thai joints, and loves the questionable authenticity of pad see ewes. pad thais, lard nars, and the like. King of Thai Noodles and Rice, boastful as their name may be, is worth it, as long as you don't get too exotic. Stick to the dishes listed above, and you will be full and happy.

Tuesday was a bad day, ended up in Uptown looking for some Asian for my one hundreth review. Normally I am leery of any restaurant that is dead empty at dinner time, I missed the warning signs. I am also suspicious of photos on the menu, this is not a dead ringer, but a cooler with the doors removed is a sign the future is not bright. When I ordered I specifically asked for the Marinated Pork skewers with Tamarind dipping sauce come out first, the waiter gave me solid eye contact and repeated these instructions back to me. I am quite aware of the ethnic distinctions for service expectations, this is why I made this request. A few dishes looked good, well at least they had descriptions better than the ubiquitous "chicken in garlic sauce". This was worth a point on its own. I ordered the fried chicken with curry "special" rice and my date ordered Pad se ew. The Skewers showed up as I was flapping my tongue up and down wondering what that metalic taste in the water was. Before I finished chewing my first bite, bang here are the entrees, WTF. Not the deciding factor for a decent meal, just something that festers with me while I am already having a shit time. The only resemblance my plate of food has to the picture is the color, a bright yellow pile of rice on top of two fried chicken legs and one slice of cucumber. It is accompanied by a side of green sauce (vinegar jalapeno sugar). The legs have been cooked hours if not days ahead of time as is the rice.A true abomination. The other entree was a typical variation of pad se ew, except for the ridiculous amount of celery in it, mixed in with the "Chinese greens". This dish also had a faint off flavor that I tasted in the tamarind dipping sauce. All this from a place with a 4 star average on YELP, fuck me standing. I swear some of you have never thought about what you are putting in your mouth, I can see coming here and getting a decent meal, but it is truly an injustice to throw 4 and 5 star reviews around like condoms at a frat party. To finish off my night, I was flagged for a review of Portillos. Now I am still searching for my 100th.

OMG. I have finally found another Northern Thai haven. I knew I would strike one, aside from Sticky Rice, soon since Thai places abound in Chicago, but this place is clearly so much more awesome than most contenders. I don't know about this "bland" issue a couple of reviewers have suggested, but then again, I'm not in the practice of ordering frozen Japanese dumplings from a Thai place only to contradict myself about "loving vibrant Thai food". Yup, I'm even going as far as to say their food is very flavorful and bold. You know what does make them vastly different from your average Thai restaurant? They're northern-style and pretty damn authentic (you know, like the difference between Chinese food and take-out or Italian food and pizza) IE: the old ethnic vs. ethnic fast-food paradigm. 1. Som Tum salads - the green papaya salad of my heart - is available here in both the dried shrimp variety and the salted crab variety. To be honest, I can go either way but the salted crab version is saltier! ha. This is one of those dishes that often times lacks the seafood in order to appeal to vegetarians, and I feel for my veggie friends, but the pungency of the seafood is what really stands out and adds depth to what should be an intensely spicy dish you have with your sticky rice. 2. Pad Thai, Pad See Ewe, Lard Nar and the ilk - the delicious noodle staples - are actually cooked as intended rather than assembled with pre-cooked ingredients. Many many Thai places cook everything before hand and toss it together. Ever go low budget, order a cheese pizza, and add the toppings on yourself? That's the effect. The flavor is sort of there, but not cooked into the product. This place actually cooks the peanuts, use quality soy sauce (that's naturally thickened through cooking and not a corn syrup and starch mess), and when they say Chinese greens, they're not talking discarded white stalks of bok choy. They are actual Chinese bitter greens. *Notes* 1. If you order from the Thai Special menu, make sure to ask if it's an appetizer, comes with rice, or is a dinner item. Many of those items are intended to be shared and are smaller plates, so if you're ordering for yourself, order something else too. If you're with people, order a bunch and have sticky rice. 2. They Hainanese Chicken AKA steamed chicken! So much better than the Hainanese chicken down at Penang in Chinatown. This is a real Southeast Asian treat. It's an acquired taste and very subtle actually. The aromatics of coconut and herbs are steamed into the chicken and it must be done precisely or you don't taste any of them.

This has become my default noodle joint. I live near by, so that helps. I honestly haven't branched out too much, but the 5 things or so I've had off the menu are good. I've only gotten takeout, so I can't speak too much to the service, but they're friendly when I'm picking up my order, so that's a plus. I'll continue to return, and though its not AMAZING, it's darn good. Now that I've written this I want noodles for lunch...

What of Who now? I must walk past this place all the time, but it hasn't penetrated my brain through the mass of Asian selections on Argyle. Though, since it's Thai instead of Vietnamese, and its name includes neither "pho" nor three repeating numbers, it certainly should have. Come to think of it, I seem to recall seeing a "Coming Soon" sign in a window on Argyle last summer. But that was so very long ago. But then "King Of Thai Noodles and Rice" popped up on GrubHub. BTW, I believe "GrubHub" translates as "FatAss" or "ManBoobs." But no matter. And the first question, of course, is whether this is a noodle and rice joint called King of Thai, or whether this place is truly the king of noodles and rice. Which would be pretty awesome. One thing they are is incredibly prompt. It helps that I live only a few blocks away. But after citing 45 minutes for delivery, they were here in about half that time. So kudos for that. I got my usual fish cakes, which came with the usual cucumber salad side, but this was not the usual cucumber salad. It was spicier, with a slightly thicker consistency, which clung to the fish cake. Good call! I'm a sucker for duck, so I also ordered the roast duck noodles, which was very good. It comes with bok choy, and your choice of noodles and broth or no broth. I ordered no broth, because of my fear of delivery mishaps, which was a mistake. It was still tasty, but I could tell it would have more flavor and body with the broth. Live and learn. I finished up with the Thai fried rice, which was okay, but nothing special. There are enough other options that I'd say skip it. King of Thai seems to be slipping by without much notice, but it's a nice addition to my growing list of go-to Thai joints. If you're looking some something new, give it a try!

So I'm here walking around Little Vietnam, but don't have a craving for Pho', but I see this Thai place by Tank Noodle(Pho Xe Tang). Its looks a little different and I want to find a new place anyways. I have to say I love this place. I never saw anyone serve Tom Yum Noodles, and it was great. They have the typical menu items, but some new ones I don't usually see. Menu: grubhub.com/details.jsp?… Prices are great also, entrees around $7. Try this place out if you are in the neighborhood. Its worth it.

Keep coming back every trip to Chicago and it is just getting better. Always love the salted crab papaya salad, perfect on a rainy evening! The curry chicken and chili basil pork dishes are all very good spicy-- obvious but not loud. And their banana in coconut milk is perfect to complete a great meal. Also like they have a bulletin board filled with flyers of Thai concerts and events. Totally friendly place!

Great value! Great food! If this place wasn't so far from where I lived, I'd eat here every week! You will find the typical Thai dishes like Fried Rice, Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. My friends ordered these however I highly recommend skipping these and trying either the Tom Yum, Pad Ke Mao (pork) or the Roast duck. Full of flavor and not too greasy. Also if you can't handle too much heat, they are pretty accommodating. Large portions and large variety on the menu. However if you're not that adventurous the Pad Thai is still delicious. While this is a mom and pop place, it definitely has a trendier feel compared to the other restaurants in the area. The bright orange walls will catch your eye when you walk by and are very inviting. My friends and I found this place on accident so we had no idea it was BYOB. We will definitely come back again with our wine bottles in hand!!

We have found it!! The elusive Volcano Chicken, here in Chicago! (Cue Angels singing, harps playing and my husband making a guttural mmmmmmm sound ala Homer Simpson's "Mmmmm Beeer") Except here it is called "Kao Mun Kai Tod (Fried Chicken)" and here it uses both white and dark meat, as opposed to just white. It came with chicken broth soup. Skip it. Everything else was good, if you request spicy they give you siracha (or some chili sauce) on the side, so you can spice it to your liking, which was fine since every place "hot" is different. We ordered delivery, so I can't comment on the place itself, but we haven't found volcano chicken anywhere else, and since it is my husband's favorite thing ever, I think we found our go to Thai place.

I quite enjoyed this restaurant. It was basically empty on a particularly cold night so I made it the first in my attempt to patronize all of the Asian eateries in my neighborhood by year's end. The service was prompt and friendly, but when you and your companion make up half of the customers, it better be. We got steamed shrimp for an appetizer and it was fine. Our entrees came out fairly quickly and were quite flavorful and spicy. Certainly not the best Thai I have ever had, but certainly more than acceptable. I would not be surprised to find myself getting their food again if Dib happens to be too crowded to get a table some night.

This is my go-to place for delivery. I've ordered here about a million times and the food is always fantastic, fresh, and hot. Appetizers: the potstickers and shumai are delicious I'm a big-time carnivore, but their veggie egg rolls are piping hot and crispy, served with the always-lovely sweet chili sauce on the side, and they're the best egg rolls I've had in Chicago - hands down. thai style chicken wings: regular fried wings with sweet chili sauce. If you like wings and sweet chili sauce, then you'll love these. Main Course: there's no reason to look past the noodles-in-bowls if you ask me. there are three main broths: clear, seasoned, and spicy & sour... and they're all awesome (my favorite is spicing up their seasoned broth with some sriracha sauce). My favorite is the roast duck noodles - so good, but the beef, bbq pork, sukiyaki, and wanton noodle soup are all great options too. they have more adventurous options like the Kuwy Juub which has blood and tripe and all the other ingredients I promised Anthony Bourdain I'd start eating but haven't. If you haven't tried this place, you should, you really should. Because if you don't, I can promise you that in many many years, when you're on your deathbed, reminiscing about your life, you're going to feel like something was missing and you won't be able to figure out what it was.... But I'll know...

I really can't say enough about this place. After losing 40 lbs and in the process taking my culinary skills to a whole new level, my whole outlook on food has changed. That being said, this place takes the cake on Thai food and as one reviewer said previously, has definitely earned it's title. I've had a lot of Thai but mostly variations of the same thing over and over again. I've also eaten a lot of what you would consider "real" Thai food but really this is great, 5 star, straight up good food. The portions are just right, it's delicious, it's spicy without sacrificing flavor and the service is impeccable. To top it off the place has great atmosphere, it's clean and it's not crowded. ( Myself and my two youngest kids were the only people there but it was a tuesday night) If you want Thai , hands down this is THE place to go in chicago. I will definitely be back. In fact, it's so good, I'll go by myself just to enjoy some quiet time with a delicious bowl of herbally scrumptious curry. Great job KIng of Thai. You guys rock. Go here. You will not regret it.

Great Thai, right on Argyle. Super clean, which is a good sign. No alcohol on the menu, so I presume it's BYOB. It looked frequented by locals, which is also a good sign. I had a dish of ground pork with basil on rice, which was excellent. Great curry and pad thai as well. The chicken wings we had as an appetizer weren't that great, but the three entrees we had were great, like I said. I agree with the positive reviews I have read. Parking is torture, but that's life.

I've probably ordered delivery from here over 50 times. Never had a bad meal. The service is as fantastic as the food.

Tank was closed, and we needed a noodle fix fast! King of Thai was the only restaurant open at 9:30p on a Tuesday, and it certainly looked welcoming. Well-lit with bright orange walls and a relatively open floor plan given the space that they had. One star there, ayup. The menu was pretty good, pictures of all the dishes for those of us who can't remember the name of that rice noodle dish, the one with all the beef in it...the prices were great, at first. We put our order in and uncorked the wine (right, a star for BYOB!). Within ten minutes, we had a small plate of bbq pork skewers and deep fried potstickers on our table. Fast service, but neither dish was quite what we were expecting. For one, they were tiny. We thought the pork skewers were an entree, and there was no way these 5 tiny sticks of pork shavings would fill a Barbie doll. They were tasty, but probably not worth the $6 or $7 price. The potstickers...well, the waitress did ask if we wanted them steamed or deep fried. They were certainly deep fried, most likely from their frozen state. Not so good. A few minutes later, she arrives with our beef pad see eiw. Or at least, that's what we ordered. What we got was a big plate of overflowing gravy with MAYBE three mouthfuls of noodles, a sprinkling of beef and two soggy bits of green veg. By overflowing, I mean you actually had to deploy Scuba gear to find a noodle. And, it was tasteless. Next!

Really? This place gets 4 stars and Urban Belly only has 3.5? I'll admit, they are completely different places, but come on.... We went in on a Tuesday night and the place was empty. I mean, not a single soul in the place except us. We walked right by Tank thinking that we wanted to try something new. It was good, but we should have gone to Tank for noodles instead. The service was prompt considering we were the only people in the place, I'd be surprised otherwise. We both had noodle soup dishes that were good and satisfying, but nothing really special. With so many other places to try, I think I'll pass next time.

Another great Thai restaurant in Uptown! They're still setting up the place, but it feels very modern. Their papaya salad was incredibly fresh; the other dishes were on par with Siam Noodle (our current fave Thai place in Chicago). It'll be interesting to see the place once it's fully furnished!

I couldn't even wait to finish my meal to write this review. We never, ever order outside of the three Thai places we always order from. But tonight, we had just got back from a few weeks out of town and felt like trying something new. GrubHub recommended this place, so we gave it a try. Verdict? AWESOME. Delivery guy arrived early. They gave us two free cans of soda with our order, unrequested. The food was hot when we opened it, which was great, because so many times, that can ruin your first impression. This was the best steamed Shu Mai I have ever had. Amazing dipping sauce, too. I ordered Pad See Eiw tofu, my husband ordered the Thai Crazy Noodles, which I believe compares to Pad Kee Mao at other Thai places. We ordered medium spicy, which was pretty hot, but perfect for us. The noodles taste so fresh. The veggies are bright green. The sauces... wow. We'll definitely be ordering from here from now on.

As my 4 stars would suggest, I am in fact, a fan. I have not ventured to the actual establishment, but I have ordered for delivery. The veggie eggrolls, as suggested by another yelper, were kick ass. They were crunchy and piping hot and you get 3 of them! Yum. I love a Pad See Ew and this one was definitely one I'd have again. Really great flavor and not as much grease as so many Thai places give you. Bonuses included a can of Coke, which I did not order, so maybe they just include a beverage; plenty of sauces, really nice chop sticks and take out containers that are nice enough to save and keep in your cupboard! Also, the girl on the phone was super nice, the delivery was super fast, and the food is relatively cheap, fresh and hot. I will defintely order from this place again.

This is my new go-to Thai spot. I have not eaten in the restaurant yet, but have ordered delivery several times. The pricing is VERY reasonable, and the portion sizes are as well. The delivery is quick and the driver is very friendly. Most importantly, the food is fantastic. I have tried the Pad See Ewe, Duck Noodle, Tom Yum, and they have all been some of the best Thai food I have eaten to date in the city.

I've been here twice in the last 2 months. The first time I got the Panang curry and the musamun curry the second time. I don't remember the Panang curry being all that spectacular. It certainly was good, but not something I would definitely order again. However, the musamun curry was very good, it would definitely be something I would order again. It was a little sweeter than most other musamun curries I have had, but it wasn't overpowering. I couldn't place the spice exactly, but there seemed to be a hint of cinnamon in there which was extremely good. We also got the potstickers and egg rolls (didn't see spring rolls on the menu but didn't ask either). Those I would recommend people passing on. They were clearly the frozen box variety and the egg rolls we got were actually still frozen in the middle. I will definitely be going back to this place again and trying some of the other things on their menu.

As the Hogwart's sorting hat would sa, "Hmm... difficult, very difficult..." After reading the reviews AND the menu on menupages, I was prepared and really wanted to love this place. Went in tonight between 8-8:30, and it was empty. No big deal, but I'd just come from Sun Wah and that place was packed, which was quite a contrast. Ordered to go from both places... and I am let down by KoT. Haven't eaten the Sun Wah food yet. Ordered the 37: "37. Kao Moo Dang daily roasted bbq pork, chinese sausage, crispy pork belly and egg served over rice with a light homemade gravy and cucumber." 1. Portion size = decent 2. NO Chinese sausage! :( :( 3. No cucumber. :( 4. The pork belly lost its crispiness, prob because of the gravy on top of it. Gravy will decrispify anything. 5. Overall flavor = decent 6. Price = 7.70 Based on the above, that' why I couldn't give it more than 3 stars. Also, for the portion, and based on what I've had from other places in that area, I'd say it was overpriced -- should be around 6.00, not 7.70. Decent food, but can get better/more/less expensive elsewhere.

I love this place. Reasonably priced, right by my work. The best Tom Yum I have ever had. They deliver and are pretty quick with it. Give you a free soda too for some reason! This is my go to Thai resto by work.

i grew up in thailand. and the food at this restaurant - as well as the service generally - is quite amazing. it actually makes me miss home. see, they understand the difference between levels of spices and the real authentic spiciness of thai food versus what is tailored for a non-native tongue. that along with all the dishes available make it a great choice for family and friends - and for the quantity and quality, the bill is always a shock (ie so much cheaper than expected). recommended anytime - all the time.

I ordered delivery from here on sunday afternoon, based on the great reviews the service was prompt and friendly. I ordered my standard Pad SeeEiw and Shumai. The food was hot and fresh, but just very very bland. I love spicy vibrant thai food that I have gotten from several area restaurants and this was just very meh. I would eat it again, especially if someone else wanted to go there. I would probably dine in next time, and order something different though.

This place is really impressive. It really feels like Bangkok - Thai pop music in the background included. The flavors are bright and rich; really delicious food. The service is very sweet and unobtrusive. The duck noodles are fantastic. Really authentic Thai flavors (and clientele) here. A gem!!!

One of the best thai place that I go to. Super favorite! My family and I go there once a week. We live in Skokie and would go all the way down to argyle just to eat here. They make their food fresh. My most favorite is the crispy chicken lard na and tom yum noodles soup. Love love love the food here. I hope that they will have more people to come. I am nervous because whenever we there, it's usually just us and they might close one day. I really hope not!

Holy crap is this place delicious! I had the roast duck. $8 for a roast duck dinner! The duck tasted like heaven. The spinach and ginger were super fresh and yummy. And they had the most perfectly cooked white rice that I have ever tasted. I ate every last grain of that rice! My friend got the pork bbq, which was also delicious. It came w/ 3 kinds of pork: pork sausage, pork rib, and pork belly. Mmmmmm. I never thought I'd find a new favorite Thai place, but I have!

  • Shiori K.

We like this place a lot. Our favorites are Crazy noodle and Panang curry. They don't serve rice with curry, so you will have to order separate, which to me is a little minus. Yet it's too good to pass. Pad Thai is a little sweet side, but it is really good too. We got 2.5- year old son home, so we end up doing take out most time. Restaurant itself is always clean and serves are always nice and friendly. We like it a lot better than other Thai places in the area. Totally recommended!!!!

I went with a thai girl and by the end of the meal she was flashing a THAI SMILE and Singing THAI songs....That means she was happy...that means the food was spicy...that means the food was good...that means the food was cheap.....That means......MY KIND OF PLACE

King is great! The service is good probably because the place hasn't taken off yet but nonetheless it is very good! Price is right and the menu is different from most amer-thai menus. GO THERE and TELL your friends.

Great delivery Thai. I haven't been there in person to eat but I can vouch for their delivery. Fast and delicious. I rank it right up there with Ben's Noodles - another delivery staple for me. Fantastic.

I've had food from here twice. The pad thai and pad see ew is delicious. The prices are as high as all the other Thai restaurants, but they give a free can of pop when you buy an entree. The servers here are nice and friendly, too.

  • Chris M.

Still excellent! Just an update about the papaya salad, I had forgotten that we ordered it mild! Spicy, man, it has some serious kick! Fresh yard-long beans, too, I've got no idea whether it's traditional or not, but it goes very well with the spice and salt. I'm taking a breather right now, because my ears are still burning from a chunk of chili in that second bite. I was enjoying the flavor so much it took me a moment to realize, a couple bites later, that I had begun chewing on one of the pieces of lime.

I'm sold.

  • Jessica C.

  • Lenore B.

  • Nate C.

SCORE!

Parking is torture, but that's life.

i grew up in thailand. and the food at this restaurant - as well as the service generally - is quite amazing. it actually makes me miss home. see, they understand the difference between levels of spices and the real authentic spiciness of thai food versus what is tailored for a non-native tongue. that along with all the dishes available make it a great choice for family and friends - and for the quantity and quality, the bill is always a shock (ie so much cheaper than expected). recommended anytime - all the time.

My favorite Thai place in Uptown. Can never go wrong with BYO and I am obsessed with the panang curry, it is amaaazing! I highly recommend it.

I'm sold.

Best Thai food in Chicago!! The price is right and their delivery is always on time. They have the best Tom Yum soup that I have ever had, every other place is a disappointment after eating King of Thai.

SCORE!

Go here. You will not regret it.

i grew up in thailand. and the food at this restaurant - as well as the service generally - is quite amazing. it actually makes me miss home. see, they understand the difference between levels of spices and the real authentic spiciness of thai food versus what is tailored for a non-native tongue. that along with all the dishes available make it a great choice for family and friends - and for the quantity and quality, the bill is always a shock (ie so much cheaper than expected). recommended anytime - all the time.

King is great! The service is good probably because the place hasn't taken off yet but nonetheless it is very good! Price is right and the menu is different from most amer-thai menus. GO THERE and TELL your friends.

I love this place. Reasonably priced, right by my work. The best Tom Yum I have ever had. They deliver and are pretty quick with it. Give you a free soda too for some reason! This is my go to Thai resto by work.

A gem!!!
