Service was fast and very friendly, hence my review being two stars. Just because a pizza looks like it's from New York doesn't mean it taste as such. It's like having a friend who has an amazing New York accent, only to find out he has never left North Dakota. Maybe the rest of the menu makes up for it but if they cannot get their namesake right I will not give them the benefit of the doubt regarding anything else. First and last time eating there.

Checked out this place for the first time tonight. Ordered a large spinach pizza and was told they were running out of spinach. The owner called and asked what else we would like at no extra cost. So I had a two ingredient pizza for a one ingredient cost, plus a free RC. I'll be back to try a Grinder next time

Love me my grinders. You may think the owners are crazy rude but I have grown to love them...only because I love my grinder. You want the best sandwich just deal with the attitude for the 5 minutes of speaking to them. It comes from a good place. (I have made myself believe that) They have been nicer to me as I became a regular. You don't like it. Don't go there. I can't wait to have another grinder sandwich. Xo, Koko

On my first visit, I ordered the Philly cheese steak grinder and a gyro sandwich. The grinder was awesome! The gyro was good but I thought the meat could have been cooked more. One thing they need to check on is the pricing on the menu board. It seems inconsistent. The daily specials are more expensive than the regular prices, so it looks like part of the menu board wasn't updated when prices changed at some time. Pizza is a couple dollars more expensive than typical prices for a local joint. I got the impression from other reviewers that eating in wasn't advised, but they have plenty of seating. It's molded plastic booths, but comfortable and spacious.

Lat night we had a pizza and a philly steak sandwich. The sandwich was great! Loads of mushrooms and the flavor was fantastic. Pizza also was tasty and fresh. This was our first time eating here and Def not our last. I read the reviews b4 going and I saw none of the neg stuff a few people mentioned. The sandwich was one of the best I have had!! I will be back for the chicken sandwich this weekend

Simple. The grinders are the way to go here. The fries are ok as sometimes they are crunchy, sometimes soggy. The pizza is ok but as previously mentioned the Grinders are king. So what if the owner gives a little attitude. It adds to the charm!

The best grinders you will ever bite into!! I only take away one star because i feel like this place needs more employees and faster service.

I had seen this restaurant before which caught my eye, because I am from the east and have grown tired of deep dish. We checked it out this past week and actually ended up getting GRINDERS (loved seeing this) instead of pizza. They were great, as well as the service here. I would recommend to anyone who wants a casual bite.

I normally love this place and their food. HOWEVER, I ordered for delivery and the pizza came completely destroyed! The box was soaked in sauce and when I opened it the cheese and toppings were everywhere except on the pizza! When I called to tell them, their response was "well, maybe he dropped it, thanks for calling, " *click* Not sure about this place anymore, especially their customer service.

They should rename this place "Eastern Style Hoagie" or "Eastern Style Grinder" because this is their strength. It was ten years ago when I first visited this place and still now. Pizza, gyros, burgers and hot dogs - You can find them on any corner of this city. But you can't find a grinder easily in Chicago. And yes they're not the friendliest of people. Who cares.

I am indeed a fan! We've ordered from here a couple times, and I agree they're not always the most friendly people when we pick up (we always pick up), but really, I'm not ordering for service here. Love: Gyro Grinder (meat could be shaven a bit thinner, but it's tasty and juicy and great) Philly Chicken Grinder Philly Grinder Greek Chicken - (next time I might sub garlic sauce for the white sauce) One thing about all these are that they have crunchy, light, GOOD bread. I HATE bad sandwich bread. Plus, the meat is cooked well and without questionable pieces (guh), and they don't overdouse in sauce. They are big enough to split, if you have a side, in my opinion. The spinach pies are also a great appetizer - little triangles of spanikopita that don't get soggy even after sitting The fries aren't the best.. Sorry.. Probably won't get them again, but you really don't need them. Never tried the pizza...maybe we will sometime? Maybe not, it's really just our go to hot sammich place :)

So this was my first time ordering and I was quite excited. I ordered two slices of pepperoni, a chicken parm grinder with pepperoni on top, a salad, and a gyro. First off, the order was super early. I did not mind one bit. It was about 30 minutes faster than expected and about 30-40 minutes after ordering. The employee was polite and my food was hot. I did however get cheese instead of pepperoni pizza. I'm a little bummed, I really like my pepperoni. The pizza was still pretty good and I'll give em another shot. I called to complain and got an apology and they offered to bring out pepperoni but I felt like a jerk having a driver come out to drop off some pepperoni. I would have preferred like a soda or something next time or a free slice. Oh well. THey did remember to add pepperoni to my chicken parm though :P The chicken on the parm looked like it was chunks off a whole breast. Very tasty and well cooked. I did not care for the peppers and will order without next time, although Im pretty sure I did this time. The nuggets were your typical tyson style nuggets. Nothing fancy but great price. THe salad was made with fresh ingredients and was very delicious. The gyro meat was a bit dry but still tasted great. The grinders here are amazing. Good portions, good price, good ingredients. I'll be back to try again. Hopefully no mistakes this time.

The grinders are great! Smoking hot from the oven! Great flavor! This is on the way to where my sister went to school. So now it's a special trip, but it's one we enjoy making. Great food!

The grinders are by far the best sandwich you can find anywhere , the combination grinder is by far the best I have ever tried and the pizza is also good from here . This spot is a go to place that never disappoints

I must admit that I laughed OUT LOUD at all the reviews for this place! The descriptions of the "old, cranky man behind the counter" are so funny. And so endearing. My husband has a good relationship with Frank, the cranky man in question, and his wife Sophia. Together they own and operate this business on Touhy. (And have for over 20 years?) Frank is a greek version of a Billy Crystal look-alike. He is all business, but that's why we love him. My husband and Frank banter back and forth about sports and he has never been brash with us. This couple is adorable and we ALWAYS have a great time at Eastern! It's a small, but welcoming place. But like it's already been said...the food is AWESOME. (And which one of us wouldn't basically dine ANYWHERE for good food. Let's not pretend that we have standards at all when it comes to great stuff...and another Yelp review under our belt.) My husband can't live without getting a chicken grinder at least once a week. Everything is fresh, made to order. Their pasta is also great! Their delivery is fast and we have never had a mistake. We will be frequenting this place until they close their doors...which based on my husband's love for them...won't ever happen.

Great pizza joint whenever in West Rogers Park Chicago. This place also has great sandwiches plus the owner is very friendly. This place is family owned with secret recipes.

What took me so long to eat here?? I grew up close by and even after moving to the suburbs, I still drive down this stretch of Touhy often. Yet, I have never been here and now feel like a fool. So while driving down Touhy again, Eastern Style caught my attention and I stopped in for lunch. Multiple Yelp reviews mention the chicken grinder so that's what I decided to order, along with fries and pop. The food took a while and I saw plenty of customers doing take out before my order was called. It was strange to see so many customers come in and not have a single person eat inside. The place is clean and there was plenty of seating....was it me?? The chicken grinder is, in a word, great! I thought $9 was a little steep until I saw how big it actually is. Everything about this grinder was spot on. The bread was perfectly toasted and the ingredients were all fresh. This is not a sandwich stuffed to the gills with a mish mosh of ingredients and slathered in sauce. They put the right amount of chicken to veggies to cheese-to sauce and the end result is a sandwich I will be coming back for. There are a good number of reviews that mention unfriendly attitudes but I didn't see any of that while eating in. Is the man behind the counter happy-go-lucky? Not really but he isn't rude or mean either. Stern but polite is the best way to describe the man IMO. The only reason for four stars is the fries were just average and the grinder took a while to come out. Will be back!

Last time I was at Eastern style pizza I'm guessing was back in the late 70's or early 80's. My go to sandwich has always been the italian beef grinder on garlic bread. The only thing that has changed is the price. Going off memory I think the sandwich sold for about $1.99 or $2.99 at most, now its $8.99, but as good as ever!

This place advertises heavily they are the best New York style pizza in Chicago but instead it's just average tasting, normal American pizza. It wasn't bad, but it is NOT NY style by any measure. First of all, it's cut in squares. Crust is not floppy. Sauce is not sweet. Just regular old pizza you can find anywhere. To make matters worse the staff there was very unfriendly, no smiles of any kind, welcome, hello, thank you, goodbye. And my pizzas were not ready when promised...I waited for nearly 15 minutes in the store without an apology. Won't be going back.

If I were allowed to give a zero star rating, I would. It's a shame because we have ordered from this restaurant previously and enjoyed their pizza. Last night, we had a very different experience. We ordered a pizza via Grub Hub and it was delivered to our door an hour later. That is when things started to go wrong. I opened the pizza box and noticed ALL of the cheese and toppings slid off the pizza and were bunched up in a ball in the corner of the pizza box. I have attached a picture. As you can see, the toppings slid off the pizza and were piled up in a pool of grease. The pool of grease would indicate it had been there for a while. It looked as if someone dropped the pizza or held it at an angle prior to delivering it to us. I instantly took a picture and called the restaurant and explained the situation. At that point, I had already waited over an hour for a pizza that could not be saved. I simply wanted a refund so I could make other dinner plans. The first person refused to do anything until the driver came back and verified the pizza was indeed in the condition I stated it was in. I explained that I already waited an hour and simply wanted a refund. They again refused and said it is their policy to have the driver verify the pizza was indeed damaged, return it to the restaurant and come back with a new pizza. Again, I already waited an hour and was not about to go through all of that. I explained I had a picture and I was more than happy to text it to them so they can see. They refused and wanted to send back the driver. Eventually I was transferred to another person and we went through the same as previously described. Eventually I realized it was a lost cause and called Grub Hub. Special thanks to Grub Hub for intervening. Grub Hub contacted us back and stated the restaurant refused to refund the money. At t this point, I will not patronize their business again. It is a shame because I enjoyed their pizza but lucky for me I live in Chicago and have HUNDREDS of other options.

This place has a massive menu that's easy to get lost in. I've never had the pizza but have had several of the sandwiches. All the sandwiches we've tried have been really good. The service is slow. The pasta's and the chicken wings are very forgettable but overall a decent place to grab a sandwich.

I've actually never ordered from here before but I will now and here's why. On Super Bowl Sunday, Feb 1st, 2015, also the worst blizzard this city has seen in years, one of the delivery drivers went above and beyond to ensure that I got my car unstuck from the middle of the street. He was driving a black SUV and making a delivery around 6pm on Lakewood and Albion. He spent a good hour with me shoveling and pushing my car and kept doing so until I got out. One of the kindest people I've ever encountered in my life. He even left and made his delivery on foot and returned to help me. Amazing man and deserves a promotion/raise!

This place gets your east coast favorites exactly right. Delicious - just the way you remember them. The Phlly cheesesteaks are great, and taste just like the well-stuffed cheesesteak grinders you get at any good New England or New York (usually Greek-owned) pizza place. And the spanikopita (called "spinach pie" here), made with good, flaky phyllo dough was flaky and greasy and delicious, just like it should be. We like the skinny little fried zucchini sticks, too. If you are from New England, or even upstate or downstate New York, you will recognize this food. It hits just the right spot. I lived in MA for over 15 years, and in NY (some upstate, some Hudson Valley, some NYC) for over 15 years. Eastern Style Pizza is now my go-to for east coast pizza joint food. It took about an hour for delivery, but the food arrived hot! Well worth the wait.

I usually order from here and I'm always satisfied until yesterday. The gyros was beyond dry, pita bread seemed a day old, the fries were under cooked and soooo oily! I was so disappointed and upset about this entire meal! It was a waste of money and a hunger craving.

The best hot, fresh, made to order grinders, ever. (Especially the meatball grinder) So, so good. Great. The best! Pizza by the slice from the warmer or whole and customized is mid-thin, cut in big, floppy triangles and just right. Super high quality fresh cheese, sauce, meats and breads- all ingredients, actually. I've been happily enjoying their food for at least 30 years. The eating environment is bare bones in the extreme. Order ahead to save some time and take it home if possible. Best as always, Peter O.

Chicken was gooey. Wasn't even cooked. The bread was not a crisp as I thought it would be. HORRIBLE service, the man was quite nice but the women was horrid. There was no bathroom to wash your hands, which I think is pretty strange, and if you do ask you WILL get dirty looks and attitude in exchange. I will never go there again. NOT recommended.

The best chicken grinder I have ever tasted in my life. That is all that needs to be said. Thank you and good day.
(5)

Let me start off by saying the Chicken Grinder they have is really good, but at times the owner is rude. The only reason I go there is to get a Chicken Grinder, other than that, I haven't really tried anything else. Would give it a 4/5.
(4)

The most amazing chicken grinder you'll ever have. I get mine with extra sauce cause I like it garlicky. Have been coming here for years it's seriously amazing. Good service everyone's friendly and prices are fair.

$2.45 ~ $2.70 per slice, 2 slices & drink costs a little over $6 dollars. Slices are average, they fill the stomach but you won't be running up for another. While the business name is about pizza, their best offering are sandwiches. The grinders & hoagies specifically. If you'd like to try an interesting grinder, have the eggplant.

The food is over priced near $10 for a beef sandwich. I had to wait 30 minutes to get it! The owner and his wife have serious attitude problems. There are better places to go with better service

As it turned out, I got myself all worked up for nothing. I stopped in this place, having been a fan of grinders since my days in Connecticut in the '70's, when I practically lived on the meatball ones in New Haven, to re-acquaint myself with the grinder, that oven-baked sandwich that so preceded Quizno's. And in my Libra anxiety over all the wonderful choices and the gal behind the counter waiting patiently for my decision, I settled on the Chicken Parmesan, even though I'd been leaning towards the Philly Steak or the Grecian chicken. I paid my bill ($10.50 for sandwich and drink) and moseyed back to the red formica booth by the window, thinking, sure they're going to whip out some frozen breaded number for my Chick Parm. I waited patiently and noticed that the sandwich maker, or assembler or artisan, whatever they call them these days, was taking her sweet time. I worried about the effect of Mercury being in retrograde might have on my lunch decision. Well, there was no reason to worry as it turned out. I got the most huge delicious fresh sandwich I've had in awhile. The chicken was freshly grilled and topped with red sauce, parmesan and sweet peppers. The bread was superb. And I ate all ten inches of it. It was worth the special trip north to this little Kosher neighborhood, after all. Not much on ambience, but I usually judge my eating joints on the food and the people first. And those were first rate. You could really share one grinder if you also got some fries and drinks. There are daily specials for combos. Wednesdays was meatball, and I had a meatball sandwich last night, not to mention the dozens I had back in New Haven. But I will definitely be back to try the many other choices. And maybe some 'za, too.

GRINDERS! All I have to say. The pizza could be better. The place is pretty pricey. The owner is a Greek guy, he's a bit grumpy. But give the old guy a break. Overall it's a good place to eat once and awhile. Or EVERY NIGHT!
(4)
Phil A.
I've been eating their cheesesteaks for over 15 years and now that Highwood's Hoagie Hut is gone, they are far and away my favorite in Chicagoland. Typically I don't venture out of Chicago style fast food cuisine when I'm in the city with the best burgers-dogs-pizzas-gyros-Italian beefs but this is one exception I will make when I want a cheesesteak.

CHICKEN GRINDER ANYONE?!?!?!? I have been eating here since i learned how to drive. You gotta give their sandwiches a chance! Guaranteed to make you a returning customer. I personally dont eat beef, so these chicken grinders are just unf*ckingbelievable!!!! Make sure you have a big appetite because these sandwiches are HUGE!!!! ENJOY!!!

Da grinder... This place can bring it if your in the mood for a 2200 calorie hot sandwich. I've been eating here forever. Not once has this place slipped up and been off their game. The same owner has been working the counter forever and that beautiful little Greek man nails it every time (I think he's Greek). Suggestion: combination grinder. NOTE: Having problems with your blood pressure? RUN! These sandwiches have enough salt to kill.
(4)
Adam C.
The pizza nazi makes a really good pie. And his grinders are out of this world, especially the gyros grinder. The pizza is quite greasy, but delicious. The grinders are equally greasy but even better. Don't let the negative reviews turn you off, the owner and his wife are nice people. If you just want a couple slices of pizza call ahead and see if he has any available. If he doesn't, there's one in the oven and you want to time your visit to get there when it's ready. The grinders take 20 minutes to make so definitely call those in. I think you will like this place but get takeout, the restaurant itself is not a great place to eat your meal.
(4)
Gaby S.
Reading some of the reviews, there's a definite notice of the owner's demeanor with the customers. He can come across as a bit off putting but I think that's his personality. Went in today and he seemed to be in a good mood and was actually nice. Kinda steep prices that he charges. BUT, I admit, for the freshness and really delicious grinders that they make, the price is somewhat fair. They definitely don't skimp on flavor or the portions, (one con of the Philly Cheese Streak grinder, the meat is a bit dry). I mostly only order their burgers, grinders and gyros. Which are all darn right the BEST I've ever had. Especially love the Grecian grinder and the gyros - which are MASSIVE! HELLVA LOT OF MEAT. I've had their deep dish spinach pizza which was awesome. The Stromboli was so-so for me. The dough was a little thick and spongy. Don't come here often, but it's worth it at times when you want something better than drive through fast food. Giving it four. Only because the owner's a goof. Not crusty old mean guy, just cold. Stingy as hell with the ketchup. Two measly little packets.. I mean, WTF?
(4)
Lewis T.
Best sandwich I've ever had! I regularly order a steak with extra cheese and hot peppers. Nothing like it. Gyros plate is great too, although they definitely give you too much meat. Pizza is decent, and has its own unique taste since they use provolone. Ask for less oil on the spinach pies, then they're very good. Service feels slow but it's really only about a 20 minute wait (maybe 50 minutes delivery). The owner scares some people but he's a decent guy, will talk sports with you if you please. Just don't expect a smiley Ronald McDonald. He's there to do his job and he's always busy making some grinder or pizza. Besides their pizza by the slice, it's not fast food, they cook and fry everything on the spot.
(5)
Emma C.
My favorite pizza delivery in Chicago. Stuffed is good, thin crust is best. I think they use provolone instead of plain mozzarella. If you are a cheese person more than a crust person, this place is super yummmm, a little greasy and really delicious! Sausage tastes homemade. Love their veggie pizza, too! The delivery guy is always nice. I see a lot of people grousing about the man who works there/runs it, and I don't get it. He's perfectly fine, friendly enough, regular, jocular, hard-working. This is Chicago, not Mr. Roger's Neighborhood. Tough up and eat your pizza.

aggie c.
The food here is great and I always give credit when it's due. However, one might ask why the two star. Reason being is customer service. I usually get the chicken grinder which have great taste. The wait for my meal is usually dreadful, but the issue is the older man at the register. Not a pleasent man and he's always been like that.
(2)
Laura G.
When I was little my parents worked around Eastern Style and they would bring home their leftover for my sister and I to eat. We looked forward to that every week. Now I work near Eastern Style and get to enjoy their grinders and sandwiches in all their hot, greasy, delicious glory! Yes, they people behind the counter aren't the nicest but who cares! Also to improve your wait time and face time with the employees, just call ahead. Problem solved. Seriously, it's best sandwich have ever had. Hands down. I've had my first one of these when I was like 10, I am now 25. Yup it's that good.
(5)
Matt T.
I haven't set food in this place in years but just had a chicken breast grinder and it was damn good. This sammy is bigger than a chipotle burrito and probably more calories. But, damn, that garlic sauce and all those fixings (onions, green peppers, cheese) makes this crispy breaded torpedo worth the calories on game day. Next time I'm gonna get the philly and see how it compares to Philly's Best. I'd avoid the pizza. I've heard it sucks and it looks like an undercooked pizza hut pizza.
(4)
Heather P.
It is a total hole in the wall. This restaurant has been around for as long as I can remember, at least twenty years. That's got to count for something. My advice would be to skip the pizza. It's extremely greasy. On the other hand, I could eat a grinder from here every single day of the week. They are addictive. Thinking about them makes my mouth water. If that's not your thing, you can bet a gyro or pizza puff will not disappoint either.
(4)
David G.
I'll keep this very short... They have my favorite pizza in Chicago. Roast Beef pie cut. Alot of reviews are slamming the owner for being cold. He is the type of curmudgeon that makes me like the place even more. He makes food and treats people the way HE wants to. If you don't like it.. don't go there... shorter waiting times for the rest of us. NO SOUP FOR YOU.
(5)
Park R.
These guys really have soul. The menu looks like typical fast food, but the taste transcends that standard. From the fresh bread used for the grinders, to the moist and delicious meatballs, and the way they score and char-cook the italian sausage; whoever is doing the cooking here is able to transform good ingredients into something great. Greek salad is huge, with generous feta and kalamata olives, and though lacking the fancier greens and capers or red bell peppers which would be used at a costlier restaurant, everything is so fresh cut and tasty, the overall effect is a very tasty salad. Pasta dishes are generous, with Barilla pasta and nice house sauce. Gyros here much better than average, especially good on a grinder. Everything here is so good, except a few anomalies. Been eating here for years, and I am enthused about just about everything but the pizza (it is good, but I have loyalties elsewhere) and burgers, which I find to be of average quality. . And I've never tried the fried chicken, living near Chicken Shack. . . Their delivery is fast, food is well-packaged.

Amanda O.
I had their turkey grinder for the first time last week. HEAVEN!!! I have never experienced such yumminess on bread. So we ordered again, I got the same thing and it was just as freakin' good. I'm told that they are pretty rude customer service wise so thankfully I had a buffer and just got to experience the good stuff.

Best grinders in Chicago and the pizza has the perfect sauce. Moms, don't bother because not only is there no changing table, you can't even find a bathroom!

Great food, made to order so you know its hot and fresh when its served to you. The grinders here are the best sanwiches I've ever had!! My fav are the combination and the italian beef grinder! Great spot for fast tasty food, Not to mention the PIZZA are made with fresh veggies.
(5)
N. Mary I.
Good, greasy and I mean greasy grinders. When you want an explosion of flavorful, crusty goodness, go here. But be prepared for shitty, rude service. No one smiles, and they barely acknowledge you. They're just plain rude. Something is up this guy's rear end, seriously. My bf and I have grown up in this neighborhood and after living all over the world, we think the grinders here are unique. But if you get the combo you might feel a little funny after eat all that grease. We give it three stars and the food earns it stars, not the staff. They need an attitude adjustment.

I moved to Chicago this time last year, and I've been searching for good NY style pizza ever since. Thanks to Eastern Style Pizza, I finally found it. Pretty much every Friday for the past year, I've been on this quest to find the right pizza. Not Chicago style, which is pretty much just a big salty cake, and not "thin crust," which is pretty much just a communion wafer sprinkled with sauce and cheese. I went on a thousand recommendations from friends and coworkers for what they believed was my true New York style pizza, and most were terrible (crust too thick or too thin or simply flavorless), some were decent (Gigio's really isn't bad, and Philly's Best in Evanston is pretty good as well), but none were just right (that's right. I was pretty much the Goldilocks of pizza). That is, until, I happened to move to Rogers Park and drive past Eastern Style Pizza. I mean, the name has all of the potential, but could it really be for real? The answer is...absolutely! The place isn't the prettiest, and there is definitely a bit of a language barrier when you call to place an order, but the man who answers the phone is friendly and the pizza that they make is true to its name. The most interesting thing to me is that, as I came to the yelp listing to write a review, I saw a thousand glowing reviews talking about their grinders. Half of the people said they never ordered the pizza because they couldn't help but stick with the grinders. I feel the same way with regard to the pizza, but next time, I think I'll just go ahead and order one of each.

I had a slice of cheese pizza.. Pretty tasty sauce. Cheese wasn't as cheesy and stringy I would have liked it to be. The crust wasn't really crispy nor tasty. Just had ny pizza in ny and it wasn't like this. The BF had the combo grinder on garlic bread..which didn't taste like garlic. It was like a potbelly sandwich. Seating is spacious. Had to wait about 7-10min for food.

I've only been here about a handful of times. I come here for the Philly steak though, it's a lot drier than your usually Philly and not oily as all heck. Dry, it's pretty darn tasty. Get it on garlic bread with mushrooms, DELISH. You can usually find parking right out front.

I wish I knew how to quit you Eastern Style, I wish I knew how to quit you! This is my fave greasy treat. I can't say anything about the 'za, as I haven't ever had it, but I can comment on the grinders: DELICIOUS! Seriously, this is the best way to recoup from a loooong night of drinking. Nothing sokes up the booze better. Fave grinders include: philly cheese steak, chicken and eggplant. Goal: try them all. Then book triple bypass!

Any Miami Vice fans out there? This place has Izzy- Crockett and Tubbs man on the street- delivering pizza. Five stars just for that. The food here also happens to be sooooo good. Especially the day after a karaoke night when you're wanting grease. If you've never had a grinder, you need to call and order one right now. A combo. It's the gooiest and so delicious. Get it on garlic bread. I have a tip for you when it comes to grinders- a lot of people I know have a problem with one ingredient or another- onions, green peppers, tomatoes, ham etc. Even if you'd normally order something without said ingredient you don't like, don't make any changes to a combo grinder. You might not like one ingredient or another, but they make magic in your mouth together. Pizza? The shit. My wife does not like pizza. She's from Long Island. Hates Chicago pizza- It's her biggest fault. She loves eastern style. The pizza is the best place I know of to get eastern style- foldable- pizza. The first time, you'll order from here for Izzy's doppelganger, but the food will bring you back.

I have been coming to Eastern Style Pizza for 14 years, and I am only 24. Have never found a pizza place like this, it is truly a hidden gem. Their pizza is the best in Chicago, and don't get me started on their Grinders! So many great grinders it often is difficult to choose, but the Grecian Chicken Grinder is the go-to choice. The food is well priced and amazing! If you are in need for some amazing food and on the North Side, you need to stop by Eastern Style Pizza.

So i had their grilled chicken pita sandwich with melted cheese & fries yesterday, it was ok, i was just so happy to finally find a place that sales a grilled chicken pita, it was pretty tasty, although i dont like that they have only 1 size of fries which is large for like 2 dollars, the lady there was rude didnt even acknowledge me when i entered this place of business because she was too busy on the phone, waited for like 5 mins before she even took my order & they were empty. The cook seemed as if he was having a bad day, then the inside looked dirty i probably wont order from them again.

The Grinders are so good from this hidden grinder shop disguised as a pizzeria. The pizza is just icky but the grinders are awesome. The place itself is pretty crappy and the owner is a jerky old man but he can be as jerky as he wants as long as he keeps making me my philly cheesesteak grinders :)

A Rogers Park classic. Some of the best sandwiches in Chicago. Their Philly cheese steak is excellent, as are their many 'grinders'. The pizza is worth ordering as well. Been coming here on and off for over 20 years; same owners same quality.

Haven't tried the pizza actually but the grinders, OMG! The philly cheesesteak is just so delicious. I just ate one 30 minutes ago, and it never ceases to amaze. The "combination" grinder ain't bad either, so I usually get both and eat the other one the next day. It's in Roger's Park so you're most likely going to have to take a car here. Just keep this in mind, if you happen to find yourself at around Touhy and McCormick and you need a sandwhich, this place will be a good treat. FYI, I usually order ahead of showing up, because it can take 10-15 minutes for a grinder to cook. Also don't be too put off by the guys running the place. They come across a little crabby like the soup nazi :) But I didn't give this place 5 stars for kisses and hugs.

So I read all the reviews on yelp and drive by theis place regularly. I'm a NYC transplant and I was jonesin for a NY style slice. Dont get me wrong the pizza was delicious and very filling albeit a bit pricey, honestly it reminded me of Sam's Club Pizza (which I happen to love). My 2 unhappy stars are for the attitude of the guys working. OMG...I have never in my life had such rude service....EVER. He told me to hurry up and order cause he'll be busy in a few minutes and then he wont have time to make my order...WTH??!! My friend ordered a Gyro and it took forever to make....I dont know if they were making it from scratch or what so the time on the food isnt an issue. Overall, will I ever come back... No. My friend and I were both highly uncomfortable and taken aback by the lack of customer service in this establishment. Good food just wasnt enough.

I've ordered delivery from these guys a couple times and, god willing, I'll order it again soon. My family and I used to spend the holidays in Hollywood, FL which is populated by East Coasters who got old and moved south. We used to eat at a place that had the best pizza in the world (Antonio's if it's still there and your down there). Eastern Style is the closest thing to that I have found. The slices are big so that you can fold it over and eat it properly. To hell with this 'Chicago style' pizza. Give me Eastern Style Pizza any day of the week.

two words for everyone, go try the monterey chicken grinder. This sandwich has garlic sauce, chicken, bacon, ham, tomatoes, onions, green peppers on toasted french bread. This is by far my favorite sandwich i have had. the guy taking your order is rude but the only time you speak to him is ordering it seems like he is always in a rush. The wait on the grinders is about 20 minutes, they have fresh pizza by the slice to hold you off for a bit till your grinder is ready.

My hubby DOES love me!! He visited his parents in the neighborhood yesterday and he brought me back some of the delicious Eastern Style pizza!! It is not super thin, nor is it pan.It is a chewy, crispy crust and lots of cheese .The pizza is very good, but not as good as the Grinders-sinfully delicious!

Toasted sandwiches are now available everywhere. There was a time not too long ago that toasted sandwiches were a specialty item. This place was, and still is, one of the BEST TOASTED SANDWICHES IN CHICAGO. The philly cheesesteak is so delicious...you don't want to share it & will force yourself to finish it even though you're full. It's that good. They are kinda antiquated in terms of preparation (I think they have the oven that Fred Flintstone used to cook his brontosaurus burgers in), but that just adds to the charm of this place. A true hidden gem in Chicago.

Great pizza and grinders. Haven't had anything off the menu so far that I haven't liked. No idea why people say the service is bad, the owner is friendly and personable, as is the delivery guy, I've always experienced friendly, courteous service, and great food. Highly recommend to anyone. The pizza is a philly style pizza, which I prefer, not NY city style. Dough is great, sauce is good, I'm definitey going to be a repeat customer.

Ok, so I am not going to take stars away but I just want everyone to be aware that their delivery is SLLLLOOOOOOOOOW. I sure wish that they would get that part together a little bit better. Last night we ordered two Gyros sandwiches and one veggie grinder sandwich with fries at 7:10pm. It came at 8:40pm. Now come on, had we ordered stuffed pizza, maybe. But for three sandwiches and fries I dont think that is cool. I am not taking stars away because the food is really really yummy. I am just suggesting to all of you out there to maybe think of them as a carryout place instead of delivery. This is not the first time that their delivery has been slow.

never had a pizza here... cuz the grinders are bomb. the combination grinder and the philly cheese are so good, those are the only 2 options i ever consider. the prices seem a bit steep but the actual grinder is huge. it should technically be 2 sandwichs (due to size) but i can never eat just half of the sandwich... if i try to save the second half, i'm usually back at it within the hour.

I grew up on these grinders. And yes the owner can be surly at times. But it just adds to the ambiance of this place. I can't help but think of the Seinfeld "Soup Nazi" episode. For years amongst neighborhood locals this guy is known as the "Grinder Nazi". Whenever you call, know what you're ordering. Don't ask for substitutions other than the basics. And chances if you dine in or pick up there will be sports on the tube. If you strike up a sports convo with the man , chances are he'll be nice, possibly even charismatic. As far as the food goes I've always thought the Pizza was just OK, maybe I'm just not a fan of east coast pizza. But those grinders are very filling and tasty. The Philly, Monterrey chicken, and the meatball are my favorites. Just order the one that tickles your fancy, and chances are you ll like it. The fries are good, the mozz sticks are homemade, and all sandwiches come on french bread with garlic spread and then put in the oven until they're hot and the cheese melts, yum. The good food and grouch owner only adds to the charm of this place. Although I'm no longer in Rogers Park, I'll still make the trek to this place, it's that good.

I gave the pizza a try today. I wasn't impressed. The crust was ok. There was too much cheese and very little sausage. I will not be returning. The pizza was also cut into triangle pieces, which reminds me of pizza by the slice for lunch. I'm sorry but there are much better pizza locations in the area.

Note: This is based on my having eaten there & picked up food to go in the Seventies & Eighties. The sandwiches are the big reason to eat here. They're huge, they're piping hot, & they're just dripping with toppings. I haven't eaten there on a regular basis since I left for college, & my mouth still waters.

I grew up with this pizza, I lived two blocks away, (30 years ago). Gulliver's and Barnaby's were right there as well, but it was always Eastern Style I would call. Having just moved back to the hood, I'm not surprised it's still there; grateful as well. Tom Dude, the "triangle" (wedge ) cut is called "Eastern Style" that's where the place takes it's name from. I love Chicago Style deep dish, however, when you need a good old fashioned in your face "that's damn good pizza," this is the place to go.

These guys have delicious pizza, grinders, cheese sticks and greek salads. They have a few tables to dine in but I prefer to take my food to go so I can pig out in privacy. ;)

Decor - well, don;t stop here for the atmosphere. 4 stars for the grinders -especially the chicken philly (no green peppers just as I like it) but the wait is loooooooong. Expect to wait 10-20 min at the place and at least a half hour for delivery. The guys who run this place are, um, bristly to say the least. They are not friendly and they don;t care if you're a satisfied customer ( my kind of retail job) but the sandwiches are very good. The chicken philly is delicious. The chicken grinder is good. The meatball grinder on garlic bread is amazing. I prefer Gullivers Pizza even though I read a disturbing review. But for a toasted sandwich - this is THE place.

Thank God! Finally a place in the north side that has a New York style pizza. The right equation of gooey cheese to delicious sauce has found a new place in my heart and belly! I will become a regular, the service has the whole "soup nazi" thing going which I appreciate- let the food speak for itself. Also had a great Philly Cheese Steak, best in the city - in best I have had since the real thing at Pat's in Philly. Try it, thank me later.

Best grinders EVER. Love the Chicken Breast Grinder and the Combination Grinder. Also the Greek Village Salad and the regular Greek Salad are awesome. Sometimes the service is kinda slow so I try to always call ahead before I stop by, they also deliver but not until the evening i think.

(2)Todd S.
Checked out this place for the first time tonight. Ordered a large spinach pizza and was told they were running out of spinach. The owner called and asked what else we would like at no extra cost. So I had a two ingredient pizza for a one ingredient cost, plus a free RC. I'll be back to try a Grinder next time
(3)Claudine K.
Xo, Koko
(5)Tasha P.
(4)Stan K.
(4)Jeff D.
Simple. The grinders are the way to go here. The fries are ok as sometimes they are crunchy, sometimes soggy. The pizza is ok but as previously mentioned the Grinders are king. So what if the owner gives a little attitude. It adds to the charm!
(4)Din D.
The best grinders you will ever bite into!! I only take away one star because i feel like this place needs more employees and faster service.
(4)Noah E.
(4)Jennifer s.
(2)Wil L.
Who cares.
(5)Jessica C.
(4)Joe R.
(4)John F.
The grinders are great! Smoking hot from the oven! Great flavor! This is on the way to where my sister went to school. So now it's a special trip, but it's one we enjoy making. Great food!
(4)Bernardo S.
The grinders are by far the best sandwich you can find anywhere , the combination grinder is by far the best I have ever tried and the pizza is also good from here . This spot is a go to place that never disappoints
(5)Heidi B.
(5)Sal R.
Great pizza joint whenever in West Rogers Park Chicago. This place also has great sandwiches plus the owner is very friendly. This place is family owned with secret recipes.
(5)Kee V.
(4)Steve R.
(5)Shain K.
***BEWARE*** burned , 2 hour wait time, very POOR customer service, owner denied refund for burned pizza, don't eat there order at own RISK!
(1)scott k.
Grinder, Grinder, Grinder, the best. don't think of ordering anything else if it is your first visit. The owner Frank doesn't age he must be from another planet : )
(5)Michael B.
(2)Tony M.
The grinder nazi frank is really really rude SO WHAT welcome to chicago people keep making them grinders that good u can treat me like garbage all you want Frank lol prob best philly cheese steak in the Midwest.they do take a few minutes but worth the wait play on ur smart phone for few minutes youll never even notice the wait .

(1)Justin C.
This place has a massive menu that's easy to get lost in. I've never had the pizza but have had several of the sandwiches. All the sandwiches we've tried have been really good. The service is slow. The pasta's and the chicken wings are very forgettable but overall a decent place to grab a sandwich.
(3)John A.
Hands down, my favorite pizza in Chicago. Consistently good with tons of cheese and toppings. Can't say enough about it!
(5)Haley Y.
(5)Lisa P.
(4)Dina M.
I usually order from here and I'm always satisfied until yesterday. The gyros was beyond dry, pita bread seemed a day old, the fries were under cooked and soooo oily! I was so disappointed and upset about this entire meal! It was a waste of money and a hunger craving.
(1)Dimitry G.
The sandwiches here are just out of this world amazing, it always taste fresh and balanced. Due call ahead as it takes 20 min to make the sandwich. However it's so worth it. Parking is also easy.
(5)Frank D.
MUST TRY SANDWICH GRINDERS pizza pies are great too/ they truly have a product nobody else has in their grinders..A+
(5)Ben V.
The cheese steak grinder and fried mushrooms are fantastic. I had them delivered and they arrived hot and crisp. I am looking forward to trying their other items.
(5)Peter O.

(1)Jesse M.
The best chicken grinder I have ever tasted in my life. That is all that needs to be said. Thank you and good day.
(5)George K.
Let me start off by saying the Chicken Grinder they have is really good, but at times the owner is rude. The only reason I go there is to get a Chicken Grinder, other than that, I haven't really tried anything else. Would give it a 4/5.
(4)Marie C.
The most amazing chicken grinder you'll ever have. I get mine with extra sauce cause I like it garlicky. Have been coming here for years it's seriously amazing. Good service everyone's friendly and prices are fair.
(5)Jacob J.
(3)Jay O.

(4)Andrew G.
GRINDERS! All I have to say. The pizza could be better. The place is pretty pricey. The owner is a Greek guy, he's a bit grumpy. But give the old guy a break. Overall it's a good place to eat once and awhile. Or EVERY NIGHT!
(4)Phil A.
(4)Jay S.
ENJOY!!!
(5)Ronson S.
Food takes a while to make but really worth the wait best chicken grinder hands down
(5)Ken B.
best grinders ever.
(5)Irv A.
Great grinders, brings back childhood memories, the pizza had great sauce and came out hot out of the oven
(5)Greg B.
(4)Adam C.
(4)Gaby S.
(4)Lewis T.
(5)Emma C.
(5)aggie c.
The food here is great and I always give credit when it's due. However, one might ask why the two star. Reason being is customer service. I usually get the chicken grinder which have great taste. The wait for my meal is usually dreadful, but the issue is the older man at the register. Not a pleasent man and he's always been like that.
(2)Laura G.
(5)Matt T.
(4)Heather P.
(4)David G.
(5)Park R.
(4)Amanda O.
(5)Shamoon E.
Best grinders in Chicago and the pizza has the perfect sauce. Moms, don't bother because not only is there no changing table, you can't even find a bathroom!
(4)Peter K.
This place is great. I recommend the chicken grinders. Their pizza is not bad and the owner has come a long way and been really nice lately.
(5)Yanira P.
Great food, made to order so you know its hot and fresh when its served to you. The grinders here are the best sanwiches I've ever had!! My fav are the combination and the italian beef grinder! Great spot for fast tasty food, Not to mention the PIZZA are made with fresh veggies.
(3)Alice R.
(5)Janet S.
(3)Rita P.
Awesome grinders at awesome prices. Enough said.
(4)Leemar S.
This is my favorite place to grab a philly.
(5)Ngoc H.
I've only been here about a handful of times. I come here for the Philly steak though, it's a lot drier than your usually Philly and not oily as all heck. Dry, it's pretty darn tasty. Get it on garlic bread with mushrooms, DELISH. You can usually find parking right out front.
(4)Ellie B.
(4)John H.
(5)Sam B.
(5)Angel A.
(3)Arliss J.
(3)Kurt B.
A Rogers Park classic. Some of the best sandwiches in Chicago. Their Philly cheese steak is excellent, as are their many 'grinders'. The pizza is worth ordering as well. Been coming here on and off for over 20 years; same owners same quality.
(5)Nathan K.
(5)jackie m.
(2)Sean S.
(4)Sargon Y.
two words for everyone, go try the monterey chicken grinder.
(4)Patty V.
(5)Rico T.
(5)Michael S.
(5)Bonnie L.
(4)isaac k.
never had a pizza here... cuz the grinders are bomb. the combination grinder and the philly cheese are so good, those are the only 2 options i ever consider. the prices seem a bit steep but the actual grinder is huge. it should technically be 2 sandwichs (due to size) but i can never eat just half of the sandwich... if i try to save the second half, i'm usually back at it within the hour.
(4)Jason N.
(4)Tom Z.
(2)Craig L.
(4)Joe F.
(5)Rocky B.
These guys have delicious pizza, grinders, cheese sticks and greek salads. They have a few tables to dine in but I prefer to take my food to go so I can pig out in privacy. ;)
(4)Dr. N.
(4)Diablo L.
if you are in the neighborhood and need a quick bite get the Eastern style beef...cheese , grilled onions, unique sauce ,you'll be back for more.
(3)Joseph F.
(5)Liz C.
(4)scott r.
Best Philly Cheesesteak in Chicago! Better than what I've had in Philly.
(5)
