This place needs no advertisement. People judge places by their exteriors quite often, but in the end, it's all about quality, and this place has exactly that. The staff is highly experienced, and as professionally attentive as it gets. While I grew up coming to this place on occasion, I haven't stopped by in a while, and the only change I've noticed is their care for quality service has grown. (Either that, I just started to pay attention more.) Regardless, I was taken care of as soon as I stepped in, and only waited a short handful of minutes before the Country fried Steak Plate I ordered came out. It was as delicious as I imagined it to be, and they took the time to make it look as great as it tasted. Their prices are remarkably fair, and everything about this place feels like home. I sense this restaurant is reaching the end of an Era, so be sure to stop by before you miss out on an all too authentic and caring experience for a dispensible price.

This is a classic breakfast/lunch diner, and a decent choice on Chicago's far Southwest side. Majority of clientele are regulars, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Food was decent: table ordered skillets and they were pretty good--light on potato (a common sin among breakfast places) and heavy on fixins. TIP: Do NOT order the coffee. I would have given this place four stars, but the coffee was HORRIBLE. Go with juice or soda.

It's been at least ten years since I was last here and I really wanted to enjoy this visit due to some Yelp friends convincing me that it was better than I remembered. It is just as I remembered and I doubt I'll be heading back. When we entered the owner greeted us and found a seat we liked. Then the waitress came right over. I can absolutely confirm that service here is great and you feel like a personal friend. We were let down by the food. My friend ordered the Princess Skillet. Seemed to have a great mix of ingredients and was just what she wanted. The cheese was cold and unmelted and the hash browns were unseasoned, unsalted and tasteless. What a huge disappointment. I ordered a simple two eggs over easy with corned beef hash and hash browns. The eggs were good with the corned beef hash just a bit too crusty for my liking but that would have been OK. My hash browns were tasteless and even after I added a good amount of salt they still didn't taste good. I think possibly they were too wet when cooked and with with no salt or seasoning when cooking them they just couldn't be saved. The restaurant is quite clean both inside and out. I was initially worried as the grass outside was overgrown and the parking lot looks quite aged but things were clean and even the bathroom that shows it's in a 30+ year old restaurant was clean and smelled fresh. I wish the food here had been better. This could have easily been a five star review. I hope this information helps improve things there.

Bettie is the best, we walked in sat down and she didn't even need to ask and just brought us the amazing cream of chicken soup

Finally found that breakfast place I have been looking for, in the area. The owner and staff are so friendly you cannot help but enjoy the experience. I am so sick of going to other familiar chains and asking why I am waiting 25 minutes for seating, just to eat breakfast. Anyway, at Dallas Restaurant, the food is good; I will be back again and again

This place is a gem! It's only downside is that they are only open for breakfast and lunch. But not once did I have a bad experience. The staff is so friendly and he owner is always there to greet you and seat you. You feel like family when you go. Now to the actual meal... The food is very generous! They serve you a good amount so be real hungry when you come. Prices are like any restaurant you sit in. They serve soup with your lunch which is awesome. Not a lot of places do that anymore. If you have breakfast definitely order the pancakes. Sooo good and big!! I also tried corned beef hash and really enjoyed it. A must go if your in the mood to sit and hang out with the family or your best friend!!!

The service is great! The waitress constantly refills your coffee and is very attentive to how your experience was. The breakfast is a typical diner breakfast eggs, sausage, pancakes ....the only thing I would recommend is finding another pancake recipe. The pancakes are chewy (means they have too much eggs) . A thicker batter with buttermilk makes for a better pancake.

Although the staff was VERY nice, the kitchen is the reason for this poor review. Pancakes were made instead of French Toast, when it was clearly on the waitresses receipt. I had a long dark hair in my breakfast and my bacon was cold... it was clearly sitting out awhile. Coffee was good, hot and plentiful. Others told me how great it was, maybe it was a bad ccok day... but I have no desire to try again.

Wonderful place to eat. I have never had a bad experience here. The wait staff anticipates your needs before you do, the food was cooked exactly as ordered and the prices are very reasonable. You should ask for Bettie to be your waitress, by far the best in the place.

I just had breakfast at this place with my boyfriend. The service was horrible. We arrived before a party of 3 adults and two infants and another party of two and watched as they got coffee first, got soup one minute after ordering it, and got served their meal first. It took 10 minutes just for us to get coffee, 20 minutes to get the 1 cup of soup we ordered and about 35 minutes to get our food. This place was not busy for a breakfast place and now I see why. The owner was informed and was not decent enough to give us a discount. They tried to quiet us by bringing 2 cups of soup instead of just one and then giving us a chicken noodle soup bowl because our food was taking longer than usual. Thanks but no thanks. We werent looking for your free food. We wanted good service with reasonable wait times. Thanks to you I was late for an appointment that I had more than enough time to get to. My problem is that I informed them I was in a rush and they continued to serve other people while getting my check and a box for my food which I could not even finish eating because I had to rush out. I will never go back here and I hope you dont either.

A trip back in time to the late 70s/1980s when more of these Greek-owned family style diner type places dominated the restaurant scene on the southwest side. This place is spic and span clean and neat, the service was friendly, the menu includes traditional favorites like breaded veal cutlet, and the food didn't disappoint -- meaning it wasn't gourmet fare, but was carefully prepared and tasted the way food from these places has tasted for over 35 years!
