Will never ever go back here again. Would rather go hungry. Ok so I was excited to see a grill type fast ish food restaurant nearby. Went I. To check it out with my bf. Initially was Barely greeted by the monotone angry about life man upon arrival should have been a red flag. The man / owner I believe stood impatiently as I pondered ( mind you we were literally the only patrons). Ill take a grilled chicken sandwich with jalepenos (extra like dollar charge for the peppers, really? ... Fine. I digress) . I don't remember how much total but remember thinking for what it was, it was overpriced. I realized there was no cheese after he put it on the grill and I had already paid. Asked for cheese he said it'll be a dollar something. Ok fine, a charge for cheese i can understand use the only dollar n change I had to pay. puts the sandwich on grill. Meanwhile i ask for a cup of water. " we dont give water we have bottles" ummm like 2.50 when i only wanted a few sips to prevent death and dehydration AND i just paid over 2 bucks for a jardinera sprinkle and cheese yeah right at this point id rather lose a finger than give him any more money. He gives sandwich to me still no smile no symbol of giving a **** whatsoever. I ask for some bbq sauce he says that's a dollar. Wowww I chuckle in shock and go " are you joking ? This is now ridiculous" get my sandwich and leave. Mind you all the fees I could probably dismiss and not hold a grudge, just never return, if the guy had not had the ugliest demeanor I've encountered in a while. Just impolite and seemed angry. I am a new customer. Why would I return if you had zero hospitality ????? That on top of the stupid charges. I will never support this place again. Demeanor

Great old style hotdog/beef place right off of Western. Been around forever because the serve EXCELLENT food (the gyros are one of the best anywhere). The owner is great and never forgets you were there before (feel like walking into Cheers!). Love the place!!

Jim is the best. Fantastic chicken Philly and Gyros. The Italian beef is excellent. Ask for it on garlic bread. The fries are always fresh and they use season salt on them. Been going there for about 15 years.

Tasty gyro, big portions, fair prices, friendly service, plus a parking lot. I'll be back for sure.

This is my favorite Gyro place in Chicago. I love the gyros and I also love their chicken dishes. The fries are good, nice and seasoned. But the gyro by itself is enough for me. The staff is super friendly and know their customers. I really love this place, simple, quick, and delicious!

I went in while my car was getting fixed at lucas tire. I could have swore i smelled delicious fresh cut fries and tamales. My tamales were dehydrated. Nothing could have made it better. The fries were eh....with sprinkled on seasoning. all in all...I wouldn't go back.

I work down the street and have always been curious about Big Boy's, so I thought I'd give it a try and got the gyro dinner with greek salad, pita and fries for around $9. Everything was made fresh to order, even the fries were straight from the bin to my box (to-go) ; excellent, crunchy and seasoned just right, by the way. Good meal, friendly staff and not too expensive. If you're not into gyros they have a wide selection of Chicago-style eats and burgers, which I'm sure are good, but the gyros were tasty enough to bring me back for more.

I can't believe that I snoozed on this spot for years and years. One of the best Gyros I've had in my life. Years ago I lived in Greek Town for sometime and this place tops any Greek Town gyro spot. The meat is cooked perfect. if you want it a tad bit crispy--just ask. The pita is always on point! Hands down best Gyro in the Cook Co.

Had gyro today with a side of rice.Good portion of meat and hot(bonus) but too greasy!Rice just ok! Gave the owner my money and hands me back change, without telling me how much! I think Tom & Jerry's gyros are much better and can taste the fresher meat.....

Clean, fast, and good! I can't believe I've lived in Roscoe Village for two years and hadn't been to Big Boy Gyros yet. Today I had a particular craving for a big pile of sliced meat, and this place was just down the street on Addison. My gyro was flavorful and the pita was warm and toasty and held together the whole time. The strawberry milkshake needed some more strawberry flavor, but I'll try a different one next time. I will definitely go back next time I want a gyro!

Big Boy might not have the best gyros, hot dogs or burgers.. but those fries are what keeps me coming back!! This was the best place to go when I was at Lane.. you'd go to McDonalds if you wanted to stand in line for hours for a soggy burger, you'd go to Taco Bell if you wanted to inhale what other people were smoking (Taco Bell isn't there anymore, it's Popeyes but.. this is my review), you'd go to Hero's for an OK sub, you'd go to Wendy's if you're running out of time (they have no line), but you'd go to Big Boy's when you wanted to be cool!! You'd put your picture on the wall, chat with the owner and ask for extra seasoned salt on those fries... they make you forget you have to be back in class in ten minutes. By the way.. I wouldn't suggest ever coming here during lunch hour or between 3-4pm if you do not attend Lane. It's going to be loud and you are going to be cranky..

No thrills Gyro spot. Can't say I've tried anything else, but why would you if you're going to "Big Boys GYROS?" The owner is super nice and friendly...a true Chicagoan is the only way to describe him. I like that he cooks the gyro meat a little longer so it gets that nice glistening glossy crisp. He has the best tziki sauce around this neighborhood. There's a competitor down the street that offers a gyro special on the weekends but we prefer going to Big Boys because it's so much better. The only thing I don't particularly care for is their Greek Salad. I'll stick to the Gyro and fries here. Hint: Beware during the weekdays during lunch time. All of Lane Tech is in there.

  • Astro J.

The gyros is great...it's perfect in terms of being crispy and cut thin but not too thin. The chicken sandwich is also really well seasoned & juicy & big. I went here randomly because I was in the area & hungry. I can't believe I almost went to Wendy's around the corner! It wouldn't have even been that much cheaper & definitely would not have been as good.

Went here today for lunch after passing by a few times. I have to agree with the other reviews regarding the woman running the register, she is extremely nice. We were undecided as to eat there or take it to go. After a slight pause between us she said "aww stay here and eat with us, it's raining" I had 2 dogs and fries. Both items were very good and very hot. They use a seasoning salt so the fries were extra flavored. My dining companion had the gyros which he said was very good and tasty. No school kids today but I could imagine the draw it has considering its location to LT. Good place for lunch and very reasonable. 2 dogs w/fries 1 gyro w/fries 2 drinks $14

Generally when I think Big Boy, images of a fat little boy in a red checkered suit springs to mind and ugly memories of runny eggs and plastic cheese ensue...but I suppose that is another story altogether. This Big Boy? Pretty stellar for it's class. Firstly, this place is spic 'n span. Polished. For a diner/fast food joint, that's icing on the cake...I like to consume my food sans dirt, gunk, grime and grease caked linoleum. When possible, ya know. ;) The guy was splendid. I watched him dish out about 12 kiddie ice cream cones to the group in front of me, and you'd have thought it was the highlight of his day (and really, maybe it was...who knows?), but he was genuine. He really cared how I wanted my gyro...or at least faked it, and that's what counts... Cheap, fast, friendly, clean....and a parking lot. Best on weekends as the Lane Techers run it over during the week. Lotsa bang for da buck...

When it comes to this menu and type of food, they are by far the best in Chicago.

Great deal on the gyro platter, gyro meat, pita, veggies, fries and greek salad all for under $9, cant beat it!

I have been going to Big Boy's since I was a freshman in highschool. I went to Lane tech and this place is right across the street. It is packed from 11 - 3 but if you are not a student, you have a separate line. Jimmy, the owner, is like family to me and mine. I met him while I was on the football team and he has always been nice to the students. Sure he doesn't take nonsense during lunch but who the hell wants to deal with 1,000 teenagers. Teenagers are assholes. He gets upset at the idiots. The ones who sit around taking table space and don't order a damn thing. I'd be pissed off too. Anyways, the food is amazing. Gyros, burgers, beef and chicken are amazing but the fries are the golden goose here. I have never had fries like these before. Something in the seasoning is amazing. Get the cheese fries and you will be in heaven! I have taken my little brother and sister here and they love Jimmy. He always gives kids free ice cream after their meal and he is super nice to them. He will chit chat with his customers and always remembers you even after years of not seeing you. His place is the best. Definitely a staple in that community.

Grabbed some fries from here after leaving BeBoBa bubble tea. Needed something salty to counteract all of the sweet stuff. Pretty good and I love the seasoning they use. Bathroom is shared with the staff so you have to walk into the food prep room or whatever room that is that they use to fill sauce containers. Very short experience here but maybe I'll go back and see what else they have.

Had business on the North side, and had a taste for a gyro.... So I did what this site was created for, and simply Yelped . Found myself about 2 miles from what folks are calling 'the best gyro in Chicago'... So hell yeah!! Off I go! Got the gyro with fries and diet Coke, as a take out order. There was one young man cooking, another man (later I figured was Jimmy the owner) who was carrying on an in-depth conversation with other customers (2 other sets in the restaurant when I arrived at approx. 215pm). I ordered it with the meat 'well done', as I always do with my gyros. Fast forward, there is not a ton more I can say that remains unsaid. Gyro meat very tasty, however I do not feel 'the best in Chicago'. Sauce served on the side, which is actually a great addition. Fries are good, plentiful and hot. The one lasting memory I take from BBG 's is the owner made it a point to say 'thank you very much, sir' to me as I departed... Even in the midst of his conversation with his guests. He never waited on me/handled my order, so that was a very nice gesture on his part. I recommend BBG, and I'll return for other items when in the area.

Our friend invited us to lunch here after our sons had hockey practice. I grew up in the neighborhood but had never been here! My husband and I had the Philly cheese sandwich! It was one of the best I have ever had! But what makes this place special is Jimmy. He is so nice to the kids! He interacted with them and gave them mini ice cream cones after they ate all their lunch! This guy felt like a family member...talking to us, telling stories, etc. If you are looking for a quick lunch in the neighborhood and some home style feeling...go here. Jimmy will take care of ya!

I used to live very close to this place and frequented them for their gyro platter. Their tzatziki was the best I've had in the city yet. And I love their simple side salad that comes with the plate. I've since moved a few miles away but felt the craving for a gyro so drove, in traffic, back to Big Boys... I was sorely, sorely disappointed to find half filled containers of watery (milky?) tzatziki. So sad. Please don't change your sauce, or better yet, change it back to the thick, garlicky tzatziki I knew and loved. Other than this last time, I've never been disappointed and the staff is very friendly. Ok - one more thing - don't bother with the boiled, non - Vienna or Red Hot hot dogs.

it's been 6 years since graduating from Lane. surprisingly enough Jimmy still remembers my face every time I pass by. For a quick stop joint this place does not lack on flavor. good Chicago style hot dogs or cheese dogs. fries have good seasoning without being over salted. gyros are good n I especially like the Philly cheese or chicken. I highly recommend getting the cheese fries. mmmm. these were awesome even all by themselves. I'd only have to say that u should avoid checking these guys out during the week for lunch. itll be packed with the high school kids and you won't find seating. another thing is to make sure you bring cash. great fast food place with good service. lotta fast joints now serve "trash food" so I'm always happy to keep this place in mind when I'm in the area

$2.39 to add fries & drink to your sandwich? Are you frickin kidding me? When I was in high school, just about all the food joints around the school that were regularly patronized by the students had plenty of specials. Just about everything came with fries and was at a price that made sense for high school students. This place. . . . being across from Lane Tech High School you' d think they would be doing the same. Kids have to spend about $7-$8 to get a gyro, fries and a drink. That's around what I pay in the loop for lunch. That's flippin ridiculous! You'd think with those prices the food would be something to talk about. I haven't written anything about the food. It's nothing grand or worth that much money. And I just can't get over how fries only come with hot dogs or sausages. There's no high school around where I live but all the food spots with similar fare by me includes fries with most of the sandwiches. They're straight gouging these kids!.(((Hey Big Boy Gyro))) Lane Tech = pretty darn smart, not rolling in dough. Give the kids a frickin break!

Got two gyro plate specials, a tamale and an order of fried mushrooms for my husband and I. Maybe it's because we came in before closing or I don't know, but the tamale was extremely dry like it had been sitting out for hours and they nuked it and most importantly NO CUCUMBER SAUCE for our gyros. How the heck do you serve gyros without the sauce?! The only thing that saved this from a 1 or 2 star rating is the Greek salad that came with our gyro plates was really good and the mushrooms were also good. Not that it's really hard to mess up either, but seriously, no sauce with a gyro is a sin! :/ won't be going back anytime soon. Especially not before closing.

Noon on Friday. I had to settle for takeout because the place was packed. Kids, presumably from Lane Tech, filled the place wall to wall. But I was hungry and determined. I ordered a gyros lunch (which is actually different from a gyros plate) which came with fries and a drink and it came out to about $7. A little pricey but not too bad. The gyros was actually pretty good. i don't know about the best, but it was definitely up there. A lot of places seem to grease up the meat and just slop on the condiments and tzatziki sauce until it ceases to be identifiable as a sandwich, and then when you try to eat it, it falls apart and the soggy pita just disintegrates. They gyros at Big Boy was not greasy at all, not overstuffed and they gave me the sauce on the side without my having to ask. And the fries were great. They gave me ketchup packets but I didn't even have to use them. Just one more note: Parking here is a bitch. I would suggest parking on the street or taking the bus.

def a solid place. went there for the 1st time. a) SUPER CLEAN b) Great, and friendly service c) The gyros is def good stuff. Nice and crispy d) The fries are outstanding By far, one of the better "fast food" places in the roscoe village/bucktown areas. Thumbs up my friends!

  • Cindy J.

It was really good. The food was more than I expected as far as flavor goes. The atmosphere was definitely mom and pop, but I liked it. I will definitely return when I am craving a gyro and have about 1500 calories to spare.

  • Kate W.

I once got this really bad stomach flu. And the last thing I had to eat before the week when I ate nothing was a greasy gyro. To this day, I cannot even think of gyros without wanting to vomit. UNLESS they are Big Boy Gyros. I could eat Big Boy Gyros all day, every day. Man, would I be a fatty if I did that?! But seriously, these gyros are good. And those fries are kickin'- and I should know, I am a self-proclaimed fry connoisseur. Eat here. Just not during lunch on a weekday. But after that, eat here.

  • John Paul G.

I'm an extreme French fry fanatic and by far their fries are THE BEST EVER. I've been coming here since high school and the hospitality plus quality of the food has never changed. Big Boys will always be a go to meal when I'm in the mood for great food on the go.

    (4)
  • Joel G.

Only come here if you are in the mood for delicious (somewhat greasy) burger, fries, gyro, dogs, and several other GOODIES!

    (4)
  • Charles S.

This place is a RIPP-OFF!! I went here because I was working in the Roscoe Village area and I needed a quick bite before my appointment. That's exactly what I got, a bite. Maybe the smallest gyros sandwich of all time. Usually when you get a gyros, you are challenged in finishing the entire thing because of the pile of gyros meat. Not here! The sandwich was really small!! It tasted okay, but the smallness of the sandwich for $6 plus is ridiculous. The final straw, was that they charged me half a buck for a cup of water. Are you serious?!!!

    (1)
  • Tina B.

No no no no no no no. Regularly rude and especially dismissive of the Lane students from across the street - Big Boy's BEST customers. No gyro is worth having to watch grown men act like assholes to kids. No no no no no no no no no......

  • I B.

I owe Jimmy and his staff big -- they are absolutely wonderful for people with kids. He remembers my son every time we come in, and always gives him a complimentary cone when he finishes his meal. The gyros and fries here are outstanding. I've never had much else. But you gotta come for the service and the people -- look at the walls, Jimmy is a big supporter of the community. One tip -- getting into and out of the lot is a pain. Park on the next street east and hoof it through the alley. If you're heading south on Western after you eat, you will never be able to make a left out of the lot.

    (5)
  • Edwin M.

I miss coming here during lunch. Hands down the best fries I ever had. The owner Jimmy still is same always fun to talk to. All the pictures of the kids at all over the wall. This places hasn't changed much except they delivery now!!

  • Gloria E.

I use to work down the street and came here often. The owner is the nicest person ever!!! The food is good, beef, Steak or chicken sandwich, polish, gyro, seasoned fries are all very good. They always give my kids free ice cream after a meal. Give them a shot and you won't be dissappointed.

Big Boy Gyros is another hot dog/italian beef/sausage/gyro joint in the Windy City. I had the fried chickecn sandwich, which was pretty tasty. Beware of long waits and loud high school kids around lunch time and early afternoon.

    (3)
  • Ashley S.

Was at the chase bank decided to try it after reading reviews. I didnt think the fries were that great. Philly steak was really good, but lacking meat. :( i will still come back to try the chicken philly

  • Zachary M.

Let's be clear: This isn't a fine dining experience; but it IS the best gyro I've found in Chicago. This includes some of the ballyhooed spots in Greektown. You can also get burgers and dogs and fake cheesesteaks and other greasy-spoon favorites. It's all yummy, but if you don't get a gyro, then you're a boob. Very friendly behind the counter, to boot.

    (5)
  • Kathy B.

Their food is really good, and the owners still remember my face four years after I last was seen there. The food is expensive though, and not that big. So you dont get alot of bang for your buck. It is usually very crowded on weekdays during lunch hour because of the local high school.

    (3)
  • Anthony B.

Jimmy is a "hands on" owner which ensures quality. The Philly "no onions" is the usual. Don't forget the coconut milkshake. Warning if Jimmy learns your name and talks to you more than once he will likely never forget you. A must stop when I'm back in town. Even if Jimmy isn't there the food is great and the service is attentive. Ohh almost forgot the grilled cheese he made for my son was awesome.

    (5)
  • Neil A.

Nice place, nice people. Very affordable. I've usually gone on the weekends, so it hasn't really been crowded. Their gyros are delicious and their burgers are good too. They serve the food in these long trays that seem like a sea of fries, but don't let that decieve you: there is a large mound in the middle of the tray! Of course, it doesn't matter, because you still get plenty of food. I'm just a greedy pig. This is my main Gyro joint though, in a great plaza filled with Chinese food, a Chase bank, a Bubble Tea House, a Dunkin Donuts. If I lived near here, I would probably be dead of a heart attack already.

BIg Boy Gyros is AWESOME! Jimmy is the most courteous and friendly owner you could EVER meet in the restaurant business! You vill alvays get greeted by Jimmy vhen he sees you enter his place and he also makes sure that his other employees are just as friendly to you if he is not there. One time I vas valking down the street (several blocks avay from Big Boy Gyros) just minding my own business vhen I heard somebody yelling, "HI!" to me from a passing vehicle and vhen I looked up...Guess vho it vas? Yes, Jimmy..LOL! The food is your typical fare of hot dogs, burgers, fries and gyros. However, everything is tasty and you do get generous portions for your money. Plus, the place is alvays spotless...cleanest fast food joint you vill find in Chicago...especially near a high school!

  • Drew S.

A gyro with too much meat? That's unpossible! So I took some off the pita and then had room for the requisite dousing of tzatziki. The gyros are cheap and huge and tasty with just the right amount of greasy. I'm sure the highly addictive orange cheese-goo for the fries came out of a giant tube from Sysco, but if there's one thing Sysco knows it delicious goo, so no complaints there. I think I've also had an italian beef from here before. It was wet and falling apart and that's just the way I likes it.

  • Bart C.

First off, everything on the menu is exceptional from the philly cheese steaks to the gyros. The food taste fresh, juicy, and finger licking good!!! The service staff is courteous, fast, and delightful. Jimmy the owner and his son, take great passion in making great food. Hands down this is THE BEST GYROS IN CHICAGO!! This isn't my first time eating at Big Boy's and it will never be my last.

    (5)
  • Jean C.

Oh Big Boy. How we wish we could like you more. My husband stopped off here last Tuesday and brought home the hot dog meal and the gyros platter. The hot dogs were ok. They obviously don't know a true Chicago dog. The fries have a seasoning to them which is tasty but inconsistent. Some fries have a ton, which makes them really salty, or some don't have any at all. The gyros looked good but I didn't taste any. At the end of the night, we both had stomach aches. Not a good sign when you know it is due to the food. So, we won't be stopping by anytime soon. Probably ever.

Fabulous place for Gyros or anything else on the menu. Jimmy & the staff are super-friendly and they always treat my 2 boys to icecream cones every time we go there. Like someone else pointed out, I would avoid during the school year but only during lunchtime hours.

    (4)
  • Quantas G.

I went here one rainy Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the huge Gyro Plate for $6.99. I devoured a large portion of gyro meat with tzasiki sauce and a warm pita. It also came with a salad and rice pilaf (or fries, if you fancy). Delicious. Worth another trip.

  • MaryAnne M.

This is your typical gyros joint. The gyros are great, good hamburgers, dogs and shakes. The staff is quick and efficient. As other reviewers mentioned it is crazy busy between 11 -3 during the week during school year. No reason to avoid it, I for one love having 18yr old boys check out my arse.

    (3)
  • Chris O.

Real good local place for gyros. I agree that lunch hour might not be the best time for trying this place, as it gets packed by kids from the school across the street. I'd try it at night, when they can really shine and take care of you as a customer. This place is within walking distance for me, and if I call ahead it is usually ready by the time I get there. I tend to stick with their gyro platter, which is tasty and affordable. Is it clean? Sure, as clean as I would expect it to be. Lots of food for not a lot of bucks, that's the reason to go to Big Boy.

    (4)
  • Stephen M.

Big Boy's is really good. Sometimes you just need a gyro and if today's that day, Big Boy's has your number. Foolishly I went there at three p.m. and the plaza it's located in was just mobbed with high school kids. Which isn't so bad because you can remember what it's like to be a 16 year old idiot. Conclusion, Big Boy's is awesome.

  • Tony C.

Great place for friendly serivce and great food. The fries are awesome.

  • Lalo M.

The cooks are great and Johnny the owner is a character for sure. He is out there, and has no problem being too friendly or too rude. I hadn't been there in years since my days at Lane, but whaddya know he remembered me.The gyros are spectacular and the philly cheese steaks are awesome. The food tastes good, probably because they sell so much to the kiddies that they never have goods sitting around for too long. They also have the CLEANEST bathroom i have ever seen at a food joint!

Good Gyros and Italian Beef. Fries are okay.

  • Scott H.

You know those places that hire high school age kids to work the counter and their idea of good customer service is multi-tasking by taking your order and continuing their conversation with their friends hanging around for free soda? Well Big Boy Gyros is the exact opposite of that. Service really starts with Lenny the owner and all his workers follow. All of their food is good and toppings are always fresh. I usually only come on the weekends and/or evenings so I've never dealt with the Lane afternoon crowd, but I can imagine it gets as crazy as all the previous reviewers have said it is.

    (4)
  • Dulce A.

Been going here since my years at Lane. Jimmy and his family always provide excellent service, and the cooks always deliver. They know how to keep their customers happy. Faves will always be the gyro (duh!) and cheeseburger combos. Yummy!

  • Lorelei C.

Big Boy Gyros is located in a small strip mall across the street from Lane Tech High School. And, upon entering, I found it to be a small place, there is a small counter with stools for seating and 8 tables.. yes, I counted! I was surprised because they really have a pretty great menu, not only do they serve some pretty great gyros and other assorted sandwiches but they have breakfast too! And, props to Big Boy for not putting onions on my gyros like I asked! However, this place seems to be pretty popular with those Lane Tech Munchkins and it fills up fast, be warned! Honestly, I took my gyros to go and it went all the way back to Rogers Park with me and it still was warm and the meat was tender and the pita soft and fluffy.. No complaints from me! So, if you are in the area of Addison and Western and want a great gyros just head over to Big Boy Gyros.. A pretty great little spot in an unassuming little strip mall.. Nice guy at the counter too! A nice little find if I do say so myself...

Not too bad. I like this little shop. They have cheap breakfast deals. They aren't that great tasting, but still a better option than the Dunkin Donuts next door. It made my belly full and made me less hangry the morning that I came in, so it serves it's purpose.

Always good food and the restaurant is CLEAN. The owner takes pride in his business and always appreciates regulars. Lunch time during school days is busy since Lane Tech is right across the street, but this place handles it and it's fast. Frequent this place regularly as it is an asset to the neighborhood.

Love the new breakfast menu! Nice price, good supporter of Lane Tech and Roscoe Village. Jimmy is a nice guy always positive - " What's up Guys?"

Big Boy's is awesome! I was in the mood for burgers and stopped at Big Boy's for some burgers and a kebob for my fiancée. She does not eat red meat and when the order came out as gyros by mistake (it happens), the guys made it right immediately. Additionally, the guys were kind and friendly! Big Boy's is now my first choice burger and gyro joint! Thank you!

Absolutely love this place. Locally owned, with the owners usually behind the counter. Super friendly staff. The Chicken Kebab plate is great. Rice and salad are perfect complements. Wife gets the gyro and always says its super good.

I always see big boy and often get tickets by the speed camera right out side their location go 20MPH on school days or suffer the consequences. It was my first time eating at this establishment so I decided to try their signature dish THE GYROS PLATTER. I got take away per usual. Gyro was excellent. He had both long pieces and short fattys. The tiziki was spot on however I tend to stay away from dairy. Unfortunately by the time I got home the bag was completely wet and fell apart. The fries we soggy and not crispy like I prefer better luck next time I guess. I also had the pleasure of trying the steak sandwich let's just say it was the MVP of my meal the onions were perfectly grilled to where they didn't carmelize so the sandwich was not soggy.Perfectly grilled to medium well. Needless to say I will be back for the steak. This traditional Greek fare has done alright by me...

I love coming here, always go for the polish sausage. Jimmy is so nice and always gives my kid some ice-cream! I went to LANE and so I avoid going during the week during peek lunch hours. I have no complaints and will continue coming here as long as they are in business, they are my favorite place for hot dogs and fries ! And let me not forget their shakes too!

Best fast gyros sandwich this side of the city. And the staff is always wonderfully friendly! I always ask for extra seasoning on my fries, and extra tzatziki....because you can never have enough!

I just moved to the neighborhood, and I'm glad to have a good Gyros place close. Jimmy seems like a nice guy who cares about his business. I have only visited a couple times, but it's good, for what it is. It's a solid gyros with a good sauce and generous portion of meat. I also tried a cheeseburger here, it was okay. It's very basic, but still ran me $4 and some change. I will go back and continue to look for a couple more new items.

They weren't bad, but the pita was pretty small and they did not put any sauce on the meat so it was dry. They threw in a tiny little sauce on the side, which was not enough for me. The staff was super friendly though, so I would probably try them again and just ask for an extra pita and more sauce!

This was the first place in our new neighborhood that we ordered from to eat our first meal in our new home. The gyros are so tasty and overflowing with meat! We finally ate there for the first time recently. It's a family owned place. Lots of photos of the Lane Tech high school teams decorate the walls. The wife took our orders and the husband was busing the tables. We didn't even realize he was there because he was sitting and chatting with another customer for a long time. They seem to know many of the customers ordering. The Philly cheesesteak was good, but the best were the fresh, perfectly seasoned fries. The gyros are still the stars of the menu! Prices are reasonable.

The gyros are good, the staff was friendly. I had a carry-out. Definitely order another side of sauce with the gyros because they are pretty big.

Classic Chicago fare, with a surprisingly delicious Gyro. They don't skip on the proteins and the service was ultra friendly. Not much more to say say here folks. It's good!

Been coming here since I started high school at Lane the first year they replaced Paradise Grill in 97-98. While I don't go here as often as I'd like, the food has always been incredible and Jimmy is on top of making his customers feel welcome. My thanks for being awesome, man. You'll always have a customer here, even though I am somewhat infrequent.

I've picked up food from here several times. It's always fast, served with a big smile, big portions, and very affordable. It's family owned and operated...just the kind of place you want to support.

worst Gyros i ever had, soggy bread and they warmed the meat on the grill , thats not the way its done and i felt the service was poor. I did not want frys and the woman behind the counter took issue with that. this is a no no

Great place! Fast, good, clean, and courteous... Everything you can ask for in a gyro joint. My sandwich was sufficiently overflowing with meat like a good gyro should, with the appropriate amount of onion and tomato thrown in the mix. The tzatziki was good... I do wish it was a bigger container that came with, but I will just order extra next time. Overall, it took care of my gyro craving I had today, in a delicious way.

I love Big Boy Gyros. The co-workers and I get lunch from here all the time! The food is delicious. The gyros are some of the best anywhere! I always get a grilled chicken salad, and they put extra chicken on mine "cause' I'm nice and don't mind waiting." So what? There's a ton of Lane Tech kids there during lunch hours. That tells you two things. The food is good and it's not expensive! What really impresses me is the owner, Jimmy. He never forgets a customer's face, which is impressive. He can talk to you about anything! Really, really nice guy. I feel good supporting a business run by good people. Everyone who works there is nice. I'll be back tomorrow...

It's a four star place if you are 17. The older you get it just goes down hill from there. It is what it is, grease and fried food. The city has a million places like this so I don't know if a person would go here voluntarily as a "destination." It's also kind of pricey...four dollar hotdogs seem extreme. Nyet...

Hands down the best gyro I have ever had here in Chicago. The meat was so juicy and tender it was like butter in my mouth. Paired with fresh onion and tomatoes it was truly a jubilee of flavor. You would be doing your body a disservice if you did not take the opportunity to dine at Big Boy Gyros.

Of all the fast food joints I walked into... Jimmy the owner has it on lock. He's a quintessential Chicagoan that will talk about sports and politics with a many colorful metaphor then ask you what you want to order. Love the guy. He also gives to local non-profits and has a great repoire with the students at Lane, donating prizes and food to their activities. He's not rude to the ones that do well in school and are respectful. He's also a stickler on how his food comes out. He watches the grillmen like a hawk. Everything here is hot and fresh. Highlights are the Grecian chicken; plump, juicy and grilled to perfection with that right balance of oregano and lemon. GREAT gyros. Always consistent. This is where real Chicago neighborhood folks go; the kind that don't care about flights of kimchi fries and stuffed french toast pub burgers. If you come here and don't like it, then run back out to your mommy's arms to cry about it or the closest snitty brunch place, whichever is closest. Yo JIMMY!

I love Big Boy Gyros. I started going here while in high school, Lane Tech of course! They have the friendliest staff. Food is served fast. Best Chicago style food, almost anywhere, in the city. Plus the fries are amazing and require no ketchup. And all of its very reasonably priced. Only advice, avoid during lunch hours during the school year. It gets packed and loud really fast.

Some of the best gyros near the north side ! :))) and the fries are freaking addicting ! Tried their home made beef and it was decent. DEFF THE GYRO AND SEASONED FRIES & mozzarella sticks
