Came here with my husband and friends for dinner and the food was amazing! My husband is a picky eater and to my surprise, he enjoyed all of the entrees we ordered. We ordered the papaya salad (super delish...could've been spicier though), pad thai, pad see ew, and BBQ fried rice...all were great. I have to say I'm a fan of this new restaurant. Good thing for us, we only live 5 minutes away! Thank you Bangkok Wok...we found our new favorite Thai place! :) Can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu. Until next time......

Warning! I ordered delivery from here yesterday and have been throwing up all day. The flavor of the food itself was mediocre at best. There are much better thai places in Chicago.

I don't really understand all of the outstanding ratings this restaurant is receiving. It is adequate but after eating here 3 or 4 times, nothing I have ordered has been more than "ok". I do not find the portions to be generous, certainly not when compared to other Thai places in the area. The last time I ordered from here (to go), I ordered cucumber salad. I order this from every Thai restaurant I visit. I was very disappointed to receive a styrofoam box of raw, undressed cucumber chunks. Just plain cucumber. It was not until the next day, when I looked in the baggie containing the cutlery, that I found the dressing that was meant to be ON the cucumbers. It was in a seperate plastic cup! Too bad that I had already eaten them with some carrots and tomatos, dressed in ranch. I figured they had made a mistake when packaging it the night before, and just used them as they were. The papaya salad, on the other hand, was quite soupy! I also ordered a noodle/beef dish. Both of which were cooked poorly. The very few pieces of beef were overcooked and tough. The noodles were a bit too soft. One thing they do really well is cook brocolli! That might not seem like a big deal, but it has been very pleasing every time I have eaten their food. It is still a lovely, bright green but it is not hard and undercooked. Can brocolli be al dente?

I love this new addition to neighborhood. Great open space, affordable lunch menu, BYOB (with quick stop next door) and parking lot - what more can you ask for! I went to the grand opening of the restaurant and the staff executed very smoothly. You wouldn't have guessed it was the 1st day as the staff was timely, efficient, and polite. Water was always full, ordering was after a good amount of time, and food came out promptly. Now, let's get into the important stuff, which is the food. I personally never crave Thai food, and I've been to Thailand (hubby's been twice) so we have an idea of authenticity. We started with crab ragoon, cute little deep fried pockets of crab and cream cheese. The sweet and sour was a good compliment and ask for the house hot sauce, to add a little bit a spice. Also, for an appetizer we got the papapya salad which was very flavorful. I don't like things especially spicy, so we asked for mild with hot peppers on the side (for hubs). We both loved the flavors and the fact we could customize it on our own. For the entrée - I got the beef pad se ew - delish! Perfect amount of noodle, egg, beef and broccoli and seasoned very well. Sometimes I think pad se ew's are on the oily side, but this was great. I ate the entire thing! Hubby got the basil chicken which was grounded, I feel this is the best way to eat this dish. Ground meat can soak up more flavor on the surface area than whole pieces of chicken. Overall, I love this new place and would come again. Give it a try!

The food here was pretty good. Ive had a lot of thai food so I'm pretty picky. The Tom yum soup was very flavorful and yummy. The Pad Thai did not have a lot of flavor nor did the curry but they were still good. The staff was very friendly. I would probably go back if I was in the area.

Bagkok Wok is your average neighborhood Thai place. The interior is more cafe style than restaurant; clean, bright colors, wooden tables and interesting black and white photos. Background music strangely pop muzac. Crowd on a Wednesday night very local, older couples and a Thai family. For appetizer we had the fish cakes which were really good; resisting the temptation to start with Mid-Wests own crab Rangoon, thankfully not available in Thailand. For mains; Pad Kee Mao that was just OK nice enough flavor, not enough spice. Along with Basil Pork, this dish was just average, nice chili level and the steamed pork could have been any other meat or even tofu. I like my kaprow with fried pork or if pushed ground pork. For dessert we went with the sticky rice with mango, rice not sticky enough and at times a little savory. Overall, the food not overly special. Service average. BYOB a real plus.

Bangkok Wok is my new favorite Thai place. The pad see ew could not be better. The atmosphere is welcoming, tranquil and intimate. The "coffee house" music they play really sets the chill mood, but the service is fast and efficient. The servers are very personable and know how to feel out what to recommend based on your questions. Did I mention the Thai iced coffee with extra cream?! Yummm! BYOB for alch.

Love this new addition our neighborhood dining choices! Got to try lots of dishes as we were a group of nine. Universally loved the fresh tasting food, particularly the curry and noodle dishes. Attentive service, attractive surroundings, and BYOB. Definitely going back!

Very yummy! Delivery arrived in les time than estimated and everything was hot! The Wonton soup was steaming hot which was exactly what I needed. Both the crab rangoons and the pit stickers hit the spot. I asked them to make the pot stickers crispy and they did. The Pad Se Ew was done well. I will definitely order front here again!

The place is a small little join in a strip mall (which has a liquor store). The food is fresh and very good. The service was attentive and very nice. The ambiance leaves a little to be desired but I am not one to go a restaurant that has insipid food but nice atmosphere, I go for the food. This place has the goods this far north.

Fantastic dinner! We have not had much experience with Thai but ordered based on reviews found on Yelp. The Pad Thai was scrummy! We also had Shrimp Toast which was rather tasty! It was clean, the service was friendly and we had an overall great experience. We will dine here again when in Chicago/Rogers Park!

I totally love this place! I started ordering for delivery when they first opened. We finally went in, with our two 8-year olds and 5 month old baby. Very family friendly, super clean. The atmosphere was great. The food- delish! Everything we ordered came out clean and fresh. Since we were with family, they asked us if we would like the food to come out family style. And, it's BYOB, so the liquor store next door added some points to our experience. I have never had one complaint about this place! Delivery is also pretty fast.

Can you say Pad Se YUCK!!!! SO disappointed with this place. Crab Rangoon was sweet and almost tasted like dessert. Sauce for both those and the egg rolls was thick and generic. Pad Thai was the worst I ever had. I was really in the mood for Thai. Should have made grilled chicken and steamed broccoli. :( Next a time I'll order from one of the so-so Thai places in edgewater or drive to Lincoln square.

Amazing Thai food! Papaya salad is fresh and delicious. Pad see ewe tasted wonderful! I challenged the chef to make it as spicy as possible, and he did not disappoint. Great, attentive service, too.

I love this place, I live about am hour away, but I am willing drive to Bangkok wok. My favorite is their boat noodle or their crab fried rice. Their papaya salad is also good. Just remember to tell them how spicy you want it. And it's byob!!!

I had been eyeing Bangkok Wok for a long time, but for some reason, despite living in the neighborhood, I never stopped in to test out their dishes. I'm not sure why. For Thai, I usually drive out to Thong Thai (right across the street from the Leaning Tower of Niles), so perhaps I was afraid of having a less than authentic experience. I am glad I made the decision to test out Bangkok Wok. My wife and I stopped in one day to eat and the food was amazing! I had beef Pad Thai and my wife had the Beef Salad. It was the best Thai two foodies have ever eaten. We have been back 3 times this week. Today I had the Suki Yaki and it was as awesome as the Pad Thai. The portions are not as plentiful as you'll find at Thong Thai, but they are actually perfectly sized. You may not have leftovers, but you will be full leaving. And for the flavorful taste, you can not expect anything better. Not to mention, it's very affordable at $7.95 for an entre. An entire review can be posted just about the service. A great dining experience matters to me when I dine out, and in addition to the interesting and artsy decor, both servers we have had there this week were outstanding. They were so friendly, walking us through suggestions, never rushing us, and keeping our water glasses from becoming half-empty. This is our new favorite restaurant and I'm sure they will be seeing much more of me and my wife. Oh, and if you like sticky rice, get their Mango Sticky Rice! UPDATE: While I once raved about Bangkok Wok, the restaurant is under new ownership and is now only a decent (not great) Thai restaurant. The serving sizes grew after my last review, but have now returned to the original sizes. Many of the noodle entrees are without the signature spices that made them so delectable before. Today, I noticed the prices went up a bit. The new prices weren't listed in the menu or online, so perhaps I was overcharged. I suppose I'll start returning to Thong Thai. Disappointed. This was my favorite restaurant for almost 2 years. Downgrading to 4 stars.

Quaint little Thai place. The décor was understated but clean. Service was nice and casual. The food arrived prompt and hot. For starters we ordered spring rolls and pot stickers (which are fried). DH had the Red curry chicken and loved it. I had the Shrimp hot pot and it was also delish. We wanted to be a little adventurous but settled on ordering familiar dishes because the menu was simple and did not include any "Chef Specials" or "Signature Dishes". All in all we had a good experience and we plan to patronize this establishment again.

Authentic Thai food without having to go all the way to uptown. When I say authentic, I mean spicy-get-the-breath-mints-ready papaya salad and entrees big enough to fill you up AND to take home for lunch the next day! The staff treats you like a guest in their home, greeting you as you enter the door. The wood panel they have on their wall is so beautiful I'm thinking of getting one for my house. The only possible downfall, that is no fault of their own, is the semi-small parking lot they have to share with the other stores. With this level of deliciousness, those spots are going to be taken up immediately by patrons coming to find sheer happiness in a bowl of panang curry.

A nicely-decorated, low-key interior coupled with friendly staff and good food make this one of the very few good restaurants of the area. I go once in a while, and the waitstaff have very good memories about my preferences, asking if I want what I had last time---which may have been a few months ago. The service is very, very quick. Order an appetizer, and your main course may be at your table before you've finished round one. This is also a very clean restaurant; a sharp contrast to the Vietnamese place that occupied this space prior. Most business seems to be through carry-out and delivery; the phones ring non-stop, but since they opened, they've turned down the volume of the phones to interfere less with guests' experiences. Since opening, they also seem to have figured out how to keep the climate controls at a comfortable level for guests. The only thing that kind of gets to me as a returning customer is the ambient music---the same "light" versions of pop songs are on a repeat reel from whatever Sirius/XM channel they have their system tuned to. This is a BYOB shop. There's a convenience store with Liquor, Wine and Beer just two doors down. Wi-Fi is free, but you have to ask for the login info. I wouldn't say this is the best Thai food I've ever had, and depending on who's in the kitchen, the same dish will vary from visit to visit. Regardless, it's still heads and tails above other restaurants in the area, and certainly worth repeat visits for the overall value and for the excellent level of service.

The outside of this place belies the true deliciousness hidden inside. It's located in this weird location next to a sketchy liquor store. Once you get inside, it's a very clean and modern ambiance. Although I do love this place, it's not very comfortable eating there when it's cold outside! Since it's small, the door opening will bring in a burst of cold into the entire restaurant. I felt like the heat was turned off or very low the past few times I've been there. I've kept my scarf on during most of the meal as a result. Ok now for the food. Out of all the Rogers Park/Evanston location, this is probably the top Thai place I've been to. They have occasional Groupon/Yelp deals ($10 off) that are definitely worth it so keep an eye out. I highly recommend the pad see ewe, tom kha soup, and papaya salad. Their pad thai tasted too sweet for my taste and curry was so-so. If you get delivery, expect super fast delivery. The past few times, they actually been about 20 minutes early.

This place was wonderful!! We came here with a groupon, I was a bit iffy and worried it may not be worth it, but the truly exceeded my expectations!!! The actual presentation of the resteraunt itself was simple and classy. I felt very comftorble. The waitress was also very nice and was very on top of everything. I don't think our glasses were ever empty. I ordered my regular, which is Pad Thai with pork. It was sweeter than I have had before, but very good! They did not replace any pork with tofu which pleased me quite a bit. Their portion size was huge as well!! I was very surprised! This place has become my new favorite and will be the one that I go to from now on!!

I had panang curry with chicken today and it was quite good. I ordered it "medium spicy" and it was, for me, exactly what "medium" should be like. Service was good and the food came out fast. I feel like it was also a good amount of food for the money. The curry had a unique taste to it that set it apart slightly from other panang curries I've had... can't put my finger on it. The chicken seemed slightly overcooked, but not the end of the world. I'll go back.

oh man, what happened here? The last couple of times I went, the quality of the food kept declining. I went here last week for a pad thai with no peanuts. I was the only person at the restaurant. I got my food fairly fast, which was nice. Automatically, I noticed that it did not smell fresh to me. The chicken didn't taste fresh. I had to put soo much hot sauce on it to make it remotely appetizing. 30 minutes later, it sure as hell did not sit well with my stomach. I will definitely not return here. As another reviewer mentioned, it did a good job the first few months and went to garbage within a few years.

Two of us wanted to eat out on a Friday night but the restaurant we went to had 45 minutes wait. HELL NO! I admit, we should have called ahead ... but we were starving. Yelp to the rescue! This was one of the few 4-star restaurants around the area and so we thought to give it a try. We were a little apprehensive when we walked in because it was completely empty on a Friday night around 7:30pm. But we already walked in and the waitress already greeted us courteously with a big smile, leaving would have been just plain awkward. We sat down and got a pot of green tea (for free) because we aren't "cool" enough for tap water (sorry about the bad joke). Now, onto the actual review: Food (5/5): I'm trying really hard to describe the food we had using some big SAT/GRE vocabs, but I'm an engineer, so I'd rather make some engineering / science analogies. If the food here was a shape, it would be a circle with all its perfections and symmetries; If the food here was a P-value, it would be like less than 0.000001; If the food here can be published, it would be in Nature; If the food here was a physics experiment, it would like finding the first tremors of the Big Bang (at the South Pole). Or you can describe the food using one word: delicious. We had Crab Rangoo (deep fried crab meat and cream cheese wrapped in wonton) as an appetizer; it was good and definitely worth a try but not for everyone. If you like cream cheese and fake crab meat, get it for sure! We had Pad Kee Mao and Duck Curry as our main dishes. I have never tasted rice noodles cooked to such perfection! If you overcook them, the noodles will fall apart, and if you undercook them, the noodles will be chewy and hard. But the rice noodles in the Pad Kee Mao was cooked just right. The duck meat in the curry was also heavenly. It melts in your mouth without chewing much. I don't know how the chef cook the meat to be so tender. Taste for was splendid for both dishes. The Duck Curry was really flavorful and came with rice. The proportions were generous, especially the Pad Kee Mao. Service (5/5) I believe our waitress (the only one there when we went) was a college student in the area. She was courteous and provided great service. Definitely different from the usual over-worked / don't-give-a-fck waiter / waitress at other Asian restaurants in the SAME PRICE RANGE. We gave 30% tip; I'm usually pretty stingy with tips (~10-15%) but the waitress and chef here definitely deserve the tip. Price (4.5/5) Fair price for the proportions served. Comparable to similar restaurants but not overly cheap. For the quality of food, I think the prices are more than fair. Decor (4.5/5) Simple and clean. Just the way it should be. I will definitely be back. This might become my to-go place when I don't feel like being creative with my dinning-out experience. Of course, this is no Michelin-rated restaurant, but it's perfect for take-out or a casual meal. And sorry about the long review and bad jokes ... I can't help it.

I went on a Sunday night with one of my friends. We walk in the restaurant around 7:50 pm. We sat down and waited for the waitress to bring the menus. It took the waitress about 15 minutes for her to acknowledge us. We finally received the menu and we order some appetizers and our main course meal. We ask for a wine opener we assume they would at least have a wine opener due to the fact it's byob place. No wine opener we let it go. It took them 35 minutes for them to bring out the appetizers!!! Like seriously the place was empty it was just me and my friend. It was around 9:10pm (resturant closes at 9)when we decided to leave. It's ridiculous the service we got there. I'm sorry but I'm so disappointed in this place I always had good service until this past weekend.

My boyfriend and I ordered the Phuket Platter and the combination Fried Rice from here through Grubhub. We ordered at 7:45pm and were scheduled to get our order at 8:45pm. The delivery driver didnt get the food to us until 9:24pm. We are only 3 miles away from the restaurant and the driver said he got lost. (Ive had no other issues with any other delivery drivers before this, especially since I live on a main street) The food was not good to me, especially for the amount of time we had to wait and the price. ($33 total including tip) We can get that same type of food from our fave Thai restaurant, Hot Wok, with MORE food and less delivery wait time. We will never be ordering from this place again.

How does this place have 4 stars?? I decided to give this place another chance because last time I ordered from there last year and since them they received a lot of positive reviews. I should not have done this. The food was inedible.

I use to order delivery from this place at least twice a month and the food was delicious. It seemed every time I ordered the food kept getting worse but I would always try again in hopes it would get better. The last time I ordered , it took two hours to get my delivery and the food tasted absolutely horrible. I took 40 dollars of food and threw it all in the garbage. Everything tasted horrible not even one thing was edible. My husband ( who will eat anything and everything) did not even want to eat this food. Don't waste your time at this place .

I came here with some work friends soon after they had opened up. It is located in a little strip mall and can be hard to miss. They have lunch specials for about $10 that include a soup, appetizer (spring roll), and an entree. I had the pad thai with a spring roll and their soup of the day, which was a spicy chicken soup. It was all so delicious. The staff was really nice and the food came out quick. I cannot wait to go back next week!

Great news for all! Bangkok Wok delivers and they do it quick! So if you are in the mood the stay in and watch Game of Thrones and eat Thai, order from this place. New favorites are the green curry or the bamee noodles. Yummy!

Came here by Yelp chance with my bestie for a nice lunch break from work. I got there a little early, so being the awesome Yelper that I am I snapped a few pics & read some reviews. Cute little place ambiance is nice. I asked for lemon with water. Server goes, comes back, they have no lemon. No problem I can live without it. A few minutes later I ask for a Thai iced tea, server goes, comes back. No Thai iced tea. Getting slightly annoyed, we're starting off on the wrong foot here. I asked her how many pieces come with the appetizers for the lunch special, she says two, I get one egg roll. Hm. Anyway, to start I had the cucumber salad with the ONE egg roll and my BFF the vegetable soup & crab Rangoon, SHE got two pieces! We shared. I have to say the crab Rangoon was delicious!!!! Everything else was decent as well. Out with the pad thai. It didn't wow either of us. It was fine but nothing special- even funnier it was served with lemon wedges. No lemon for my water eh?! Hmmmmmm. Mine was packed with tofu while my BFF's had 3 small pieces of beef. I mean for $7.95 it wasn't bad but the little errors just irked me. Not saying I wouldn't go back for those crab rangoons but I wouldn't rush over there either.

Ordered the Moo Ping for an appetizer. It is suppose to come with 5, however on my takeout order, they gave me only 4. Good thing I checked because I would have been upset when I got home. I had ordered this to go before and I am wondering if they shorted me then also? I wanted the Pad Keee Mao and something else for my lunch at work the next day. So the lady tried to tell that noodles are not good the next day and I should get the Chef special Duck and catfish....two of most expensive dishes. I thought their food was good my first time. So glad I waited to give my review. Very deceptive. I will not be back.

WOW - I ordered again and the quality was so much less. The Mongolian beef had very little beef and it just tasted old and tough. Tons of onions and not very much sauce - it was great the last two times. The Pad See ewe was not nearly as good either - the vegetable had a super bitter taste and the noodles were musy. The Phuket platter was super small and had very little seafood. This is the 3rd time we have ordered the same items and this time they were not nearly as good. small portions and just not as tasty - so disappointing.

Chicago has a million Thai food restaurants to choose from. I have tried several, but the one I come back to often and loyally is Bangkok Wok. The noodles are perfectly prepared and taste delicious! The portions are generous. The service is unpretentious and nice. The decor is not too fancy but clean and attractive. The delivery is quick and reliable. My one complaint is that the dishes that are supposed to be spicy are not spicy at all. But you can always ask for more spice.

Ordered delivery. Pad see ew was surprisingly disgusting, and made with what appeared to be collard greens, not broccoli. Our other dish was non descript and bland. Even the crab Rangoon was bad. Cucumber salad was good. We must have ordered on a terrible night, but I am not giving them another chance.

Same West Rogers Park new restaurant model: Come in, open new restaurant, get rave reviews-do a good job for a few weeks/months/years and then dive right on in to the toilet. We've ordered from here off and on since they first opened. The first time we were so surprised at the high quality of the food we wondered if we had stumbled on a gold mine of delight. It became our staple-ordering periodically (every few weeks) and the food was consistently good and the delivery shockingly fast. Since we live less than a half mile from the place we figured it was a good staple for delivery-especially with two kids under the age of 5 at home. But the place has undergone a slow and steady decline-you know; the kind of place you order from in June, get your food and look at each mid-dinner and say "wasn't this better last time?" By the time August rolls around, you've almost forgotten June-until you bite in and it's a little bit worse. Which brings us to November and last night. I've ordered from the place 2-3 dozen times-let's assume they don't keep numbers on file-should I have to spell and say the name of the street 4 times-maybe-but what if it is the street next to your business? Pretty straightforward order on a Sunday night-nearly two hours for delivery. When I call to check in at 1 hour and 35 minutes I am assured that the food is in the car and on the way-I can almost see the restaurant from my house-it takes two hours. I could have walked there, cooked the food myself and then walked to my own home in less time. When the delivery driver does arrive-he insists he had just left the restaurant. Either he's lying or they cook food, then immediately put it in the fridge-it was ice cold. Crab Rangoon-disappointing won ton fried with what I assume is a 4mm diameter sphere of mayonnaise in it. Tom Yum soup-disgusting-never had Thai Tom Yum with whole gooseberries in it. Noodle entrees cooked to mush. Jasmine rice - only if Uncle Ben has a daughter with crabs named Jasmine. Red Curry Duck-they need to learn how to carve duck-more cartilage and bone shards than an orthopedic ward at a hospital. Pad Ke Ewe-ewe is right. We ordered 3 entrees and each was slightly worse than the one before it. Another West Rogers Park restaurant going straight into the crapper.

The food was tasty but the portions were way too small for the prices. The chicken satay is very flavorful but you only get about 3-4 small skewers. I ordered the eggrolls via grubhub and the menu says 3 eggrolls for $4, I received 2 small eggrolls. The two would be fine if they were normal size. When I called about it the woman said that I'd have to order from their website to view an accurate menu. The Tom Kha was tasty but the consistency was too thin. Usually when I have Tom Kha the liquid is a little thickened. Overall, I would NOT order from here again,.

This was the worst experience that I have had from ordering anywhere. My food was cold when it got here 60 minutes after the said time. To add insult to injury, the noodles on my noodle dish were missing. I called them and they said they would bring them right away. I decided to skip the noodles and shared the rice with my wife. We finished our food, watched tv, and as we decided to go to bed the doorbell rang. The brought our noodles! I would review the bland watery food but who cares at this point. In all honesty, skipping a meal is better then ordering anything from this joint. Bye bye Bangkok Wok.

This Thai restaurant was fairly decent. We ordered massaman curry, pad see ew, papaya salad, shrimp tom yum soup, and thai iced coffee. My review may be biased because I have been to Thailand countless times and have tasted authentic Thai cuisine. The massaman was a bit lacking in flavor and spice. The pad see ew was on the sweet side. The papaya salad was almost tasteless. The shrimp tom yum was watery but still okay. All in all, the food is similar to what you would find at any other average Thai restaurant in Chicago. What I considered special about this place was the service. Our server was very nice and attentive. I'll probably give this place another try later on, but probably not in the near future.

We bought a Yelp deal for this place. $10 for $20. We shared a chicken satay, a beef salad, and a pad thai. The chicken satay was delicious. The beef salad is not finely ground, like lahb, so don't expect to get lahb. It was funky with fish sauce, fresh, and tasty. I am not a huge pad thai fan generally, but this pad thai was pretty good. I also got a thai iced tea, and it was huge and tasted good. I wish I lived closer to this place.

I've been looking for a decent Thai restaurant in Chicago, and the search has been pretty exhaustive...so I'm happy to say that Bankgok Wok has been the answer to that quest. It's definitely not the best Thai food I've ever had in my life, but it's one of the best I've had in Chicago so far at least. Bangkok Wok serves your standard Thai fare, nothing unfamiliar or exotic. I've been here a few times now, and what I would recommend are their boat noodle soups, pad thai, pad see ew, chicken satay and shrimp fried rice with curry. Their wonton soup and Tom Yum soup are also excellent. I love their appetizers too (egg rolls, fish cake, thai chicken wings, crab rangoon). I wasn't a big fan of their curries though...as much as I wanted to like it. But there is definitely something for everyone. Prices are reasonable, and portions are a good size. Their beverages and desserts are worth a try...if you still have room. The restaurant itself is simplistic in decor, and has a nice ambience. Very clean and well maintained. There is plenty of seating, and never a wait. Parking is easy, located in a small strip mall. The service is pretty awesome, they are always really nice and friendly. They never rush you and are always attentive. The food comes out pretty quickly too. My only gripe is that they close pretty early (9pm) and are closed Tuesdays. But they do deliver, so I would call it in if you are short on time. Overall, I would recommend Bangkok Wok for its authenticity and quality. Definitely on my list of regulars.

Bangkok Wok is my current go to Thai place. Food is always amazing with generous portions. I love that it's BYOB and there is a liquor store right next door. My only criticism is their service. It seems like they are very inexperienced and forgetful:)

My girlfriend and I stopped here for dinner early this evening, not quite sure what to expect. Both big fans of good Thai cuisine and new to the area, we've been trying the different Thai restaurants in the area to determine our new go-to place to order from. Our experiences so far had been pretty mixed but mostly poor, while not a picky eater I'd been pretty disappointment with the quality of food and service in alot of the establishments I've visited recently. Today was a REAL positive surprise however. On walking in, the atmosphere was very. clean and relaxed. Decor was classy, but not pretentious..and the smells coming from the kitchen were heavenly! We were seated immediately and brought ice water and menus; We took a bit to look over the menu before ordering. I ordered the red curry with tofu (my usual) and my girlfriend ordered the pad thai with pork and an appetizer of pot-stickers to share. The pot-stickers came very quickly, were hot and delicious. It's an appetizer we order often from thai restaurants, but this was the FIRST of them in a long time where the pot-stickers tasted homemade rather than frozen and heated. Much better than expected, I only wish we hadn't gobbled them up so quickly, haha. The entrees came out soon after the app dishes were taken away. I traded a few bites of my curry w/ tofu for my girlfriends pad thai; Both dishes were excellent! While I generally like my red curry a little spicier, the flavors blended very well and the vegetables tasted extremely fresh and crisp. The pad thai was a little sweeter than I was used to, but was still very good. A pleasant surprise with her order: Where many thai restaurants will replace half of the meat in your entrees with tofu to save money and 'cheat' the customer, Bangkok Wok did no such thing. There was a LOT of pork in her serving. In fact, the serving size of both our entrees was HUGE for the price! This was the first time in a long time I've had to take thai food home, as after about a third of my entree I was stuffed to the gills. As we finished our meal, we were brought a pair of unique looking, little fortune cookies in scroll shapes. I'd never seen them that way before and my girlfriend found them very cute. I should also note, the service here was very good as well. My glass was never empty for long without being refilled, and the waitress was very patient and helpful when discussing menu items and even suggested 'specials' to save us money on the bill. The value was great; While the prices for menu items were about average, the portion size on entrees was close to twice what we have gotten elsewhere and the food was of high quality. Two entrees and an appetizer cost about $20 altogether before tip, so this is a place where you can be sure to fill up without breaking the bank. Altogether, I would say it's our new favorite thai place. While the place itself is small, don't overlook it. Food quality and portions are huge and the prices are low. Definitely stop in and try it out if you're in the area, you won't be disappointed. :)

We stopped in after a double- header at the movies. We were both quite hungry and decided to try their lunch special. As it was our first visit, we opted for the tried and true Pad Thai. I had mine with chicken and Christopher opted for beef. Both were quite nice and well flavored. The portions were large. I brought home my leftovers for mom. She really loved the Pad Thai, The lunch special comes with the soup of the day and you get a choice of appetizers. The soup was Tom Yum. I love it, and Christopher who had never had it before enjoyed it as well. The appetizers were good, but not great. The restaurant is clean and cheerful looking. Having a parking lot is a big plus. We will be back again to try other options. Now I want papaya salad. Geesh.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 pm and there was two other tables there besides us so kinda empty on a weekend in my opinion but maybe it gets most of it's traffic during weekday lunch. We sat by the window which was nice and cozy. Our server was attentive and came up right away and so we began our ordering. We got crab ragoons, pot stickers and egg rolls for appetizers and all were just a okay. Nothing stood out, nothing had that extra flavor I was hoping for, all just mediocre. Next came the entrees, I had the pad thai with tofu and it came out beautiful and the portion was extremely generous in size, my hubby got a chicken dish and my grandpa got a bbq pork fried rice which was huge and he seemed to really enjoy it. Plus, he took more than half of it to go after all the appetizers we had. My overall feel of the place is that it was okay, nothing spectacular but nothing horrible either. The server did over charge us $2.00 from the "new" menu which wasn't the one that we were given but after I mentioned it she took it off, so no biggie. Overall, am I dying to return? Absolutely not. If i'm in the area, possibly. Opart Thai in Chicago still has my heart and pad thai soul.

I have visited the place twice. I like the cleanliness of the restaurant, the service and the food. I came both times at lunch time. I ordered both times the pad thai. It is traditional, flavorful and juicy. I prefer my pad thai not be dry as at some places. It is a little sweet. The sides were nice. I would visit this place again. It meets my standards for traditional thai food.

Duncan S. hit the nail on the head with this one. "Average neighborhood Thai place." Brightly colored walls of mostly off-primary colors, cute cafe like interior with few Asian inspired art pieces. An intricately carved wood piece adorns one wall and a modern styled picture of Buddha on another. A few small chalk board pieces with random messages mentioning their different offerings or smoothie flavors. What was most cool; one of the waitresses wore a t-shirt reminiscent of the RUN DMC t-shirt but with the initials of Bangkok Wok. Great way to represent the brand. Stopped in for the lunch special. $6.50 for soup or salad, entree and an egg roll or crab Rangoon. Salad is a small square plate of few pieces of cucumber, thinly Julienned carrot and red onions in a sweet soy or clear colored marinade. Pretty good and light. Soup of the other day was chicken Tom yum. Two of us, so we got one of each with egg rolls and split an order of crab Rangoon ( 6 pieces $5 dollars). A good selection of entrees offered on the lunch menu. I got noodles and my buddy got beef in red curry. All of the food was just okay, nothing stood out. Crab Rangoon was the same, more savory than sweet but served with a sweet sauce in case you need it. Had some left overs to go. Days later, it wasn't as awesome as on the first day. If in the area during a weekday lunch hour, I would certainly pass up a trip through McDonald's drive thru for their better than average lunch menu offerings. It's only $6.50, so why not!.

Worst Thai food I have ever gotten. I ordered the Pad See Ew Chicken and Beef and got it delivered. First off all..all the food was burned. They forgot the broccoli and the portions were too small. Then the leaves in it, tasted like they just threw a bunch of leaves in there. There was no taste or even a little bit of spice and they gave us no soy sauce or anything.

Overall the food was good. I liked the pad see ewe and curry dishes are delish. But the fish dishes are not as fresh. The Mongolian beef was an ehhh. I would only go there for main Thai dishes. I was disappointed they didn't have mango rice dessert (seasonal), but they have mochi ice cream. They were yummy especially mango and sesame flavors.

Mediocre thai food, TERRIBLE SERVICE. I went here to pick up lunch, they forgot to include an entree, and then told me they would deliver it. An hour later they called to say that they weren't delivering it and asked for my credit card to delete the charge. Very shady.

Come here every couple of weeks. Very nice food and service. Wonton soup, Pad see ewe, and the curry dishes are my favorite. Never a wait and parking is readily available.

We got takeout from here w/some friends that live close to this place. We liked it so much that we will go back ourselves for takeout. Warning- I am not one of the super discerning and super critical Thai restaurant people. If you are, just skip my review. So I got Pad See Ewe w/tofu which I really liked. I liked whatever green they put in it. I liked the portion size, the flavor, the tofu wasn't too plain. My husband got Combination Fried Rice and it was flavorful with lots of meat that was good quality. It seemed to be chicken, beef, and pork (no shrimp), just fyi. We both liked the portion size and flavor. Also their site is bangkokwokthai.com I suggested that yelp add it. When you view their menu online it goes to a grubhub page but you do see the menu. I'm probably the 1 person left in the world that has never used grubhub. So anyway the restaurant ph# is the one that ends in 0000 on their main website page and here on yelp, so we called that to order since we were doing pickup ourselves, therefore not using grubhub. We also really liked that they use plastic takeout containers for the entrees, instead of styrofoam. (I try not to get hot food and certainly not hot liquids in styrofoam as I feel it can leach some chemicals from the styrofoam into the food, and that styrofoam is only safe for cold food storage.) Only a friend's appetizer was in styrofoam, so it seems if you get something small they may put it in styrofoam. (The bottom of the plastic entree container is a #5 plastic which you can recycle at Whole Foods. The top is #6 which cannot be recycled to my knowledge.)

I have had Thai food from around the world (From Australia to Spain to the US....Unfortunately not Thailand yet) and honestly hands down one of the best Thai places EVER. Definitely the best in Chicago. There is not one bad thing about this restaurant. To the management, the service, and the fresh Thai food itself, AMAZING! The only thing I've been waiting to try is the mango sticky rice dessert, but since Thai mangos are not fresh in season right now, they are holding off until they are able to get the freshest mangos possible! Can't wait for that!!! They deliver too ;-)

MY THAI! For sure! Love this place! And it's only a five minute drive! I know I like a place when I'm still craving it the next morning! Smoothies were a great start, as well as the Thai chicken wings, DELICIOUS! Papaya salad was also a recommendation that was perfect! Slightly spicy, crunchy and all around refreshing! Next up, the pad Thai with chicken was great! Not too oily with just the right amount of everything! We also had the pineapple fried rice with tofu was so amazing! The bottle of wine from next door paired perfectly too! I wasn't joking, I went the next morning to get me some fries rice! With crab this time, and some seriousness right there! Not many place with crab fried rice! And the iced tea with lemon hit the spot!
