This place is better than whole foods. They have a large collection of organic food. I got some organic grains, such as lentil and flax seeds from this store, the quality was much better than those I got from whole foods in Chicago, price is comparable too. Strongly recommend this place for bulk food. They also sell local grown bison meat and liver.

This place is totally awesome when it comes to grains, nuts, and produce. Everything is very healthy, very local, it's great I love it. I give it four stars because any kind of meat or dairy is very expensive and there is a pretty limited selection compared to a typical grocery store. I will continue coming here for the first three things I mentioned as well as things like soap, bread, incense, and condiments.

I was a big fan of the Neighborhood Co-op while my wife and I lived in Carbondale. While their prices are a bit higher (as to be expected with a co-op) they had the best produce, meat and service in town. You don't have to be a member to shop there and the staff doesn't make you feel guilty if you don't have a membership.

Love this place! The deli bar has great diet friendly items. Chick pea salads are amazing.

This place is the sole redeemer of the limited Carbondale culinary scene. Aside from having a selection on par with Whole Foods, they have a delicious lunch counter filled with prepared hot and cold dishes at excellent prices (including items like kale-seaweed salad, local free-range bison meatloaf and roasted chicken.) My lunches were the absolute shining star of my visit.

I've purchased expired items more than once from here. I almost always have a problem with sale items ringing up on sale at the register. Also, certain items are way more $$$ than other health food stores. Decent selection for S IL but lots of inconsistencies.

While the Co-op can be a little pricey, it has items you can't find anywhere else in town and has a great bulk section. And you can't go wrong with the rice, beans, and greens or a slice of pizza at the deli counter!
