So had the Shrimp they were good.... Ordered the sides and they were horrible...The zuchinni was mushy but hot....The onion rings had so much coating couldn't find onion.... No cocktail sauce was included even though we asked....asked for a few slices of lemon...they substituted a teaspoon of bottled lemon juice in a little container ...TAKING ABOUT FEELING RIPPED OFF. Really horrible sides...I could have done better.

Still the best, and now accepting debit & credit cards. The fried oysters are incredible - I get them EVERY TIME I come here. A small storefront, you come in, order, and get your order to go. The Chicago Style Shrimp are the best. Great seafood & sides (fried vegetables are yumyum yummm).

If I could give it negative stars I would. I highly do not recommend this place my order was all wrong. I was given old fries that I saw the guy take them out of the tray where they were already cooked and put them back into the fryer. I also received shrimp that was under cooked my shrimp were still raw. I would highly recommend going a few minutes out of your way and going to the shrimp shack over this place. I normally don't complaint and this is my first time writing a review on here but my experience was that bad and I would never go back

Fried shrimp. That's all you need to know. These are huge, perfectly seasoned (the Chicago style is what we get), and perfection.

I wasn't up for the ride to Lawrence's, so we chose Frank's instead, and left very satisfied. The prices aren't bad, especially for the quality. Chicago gulf shrimp is big, crispy, and nicely seasoned, scallops were large and juicy, the cauliflower and mushrooms on point, and don't forget about their hot sauce. I wouldn't recommend the macaroni salad. It's creamy, but commercially made, and they charge $1.25 for a little single serve cup. All of the fried goods are made right in clear view, just the other side of the counter, so you know your food is hot and fresh. The only drawback is the parking being very limited, and there isn't much waiting/ordering space, so it can get rather cramped, but they move the line rather quickly and the food is worth it.

Chicago style shrimp is the way to go. Always fresh and fast. Nice to see a many choices of fish and sides.

Perfect example of not judging a book by its cover. This place looks like a total hole in the wall, but the food is awesome. The outside is dingy and old looking, but the inside is really clean and bare bones. Everything is cooked (or fried, I should say) to order. Get the seasoned shrimp (Chicago Style). The hardest part about going here is waiting for the food to cool down. I usually end up scorching my mouth. You'll be pleased get HUGE gulf shrimp. And deveined perfectly...my pet peeve. The catfish dinner is a steal. It's like $5 for catfish, fries and macaroni salad. Hushpuppies are also really good. I think it was like $2 for ten of them? Avoid the clam strips. You can watch the staff cook and get the products they way the store is set up. Chewy and frozen, not a fan.

Stopped here last night. I was in the area and saw the sign and thankfully remembered "hey, I think I remember that place from Yelp". My favorite Chicago shrimp place so far is Shrimp Shack on Archer (haven't made it Troja's yet, supposedly the best place overall), but Frank's give it a run for the money. I think I like the shrimp at SS slightly better, but Frank's clam strips basically suck compared to SS. I am dating a woman who lives near Frank's so I have a feeling I'll be hitting Frank's for shrimp more often in the future. Will have to more of the menu.

Lawerences on Canal is too far and Shrimp Shack on Archer is 20 minutes away. So whats left when I have a taste for the sea? No, not Long John SIlvers (Tho I like them as well)...its FRANKS. So I finally tried them. They are only 10 minutes away and a straight shot down 79th. I go there and ordered the Seasoned Shrimp, Clam strips and oysters. Heres the breakdown: The seasoned is the way to go cuz the non seasoned is bland as hell. The shrimps are gulf shrimp which means they are sweeter than farmed raised. The clam strips were nice and meaty. The oysters were bland cuz they use the non seasoned breading. Too bad. Next time I will try the scallops. BTW, forget about trying to make small talk with the older dude in there unless youve ever spoken to a wall and gotten a response. LOL!

Best fried shrimp I have ever had. I get the regular (unseasoned) and the mild sauce more than perks up the lack of seasoning. The Chicago style fried shrimp is garlic flavored. The clam strips are excellent. Make sure you order the large fries as the small fires are not as good a value. Only let down is the cole-slaw as it is the awful food-processed stuff. Not enough in my opinion to knock off a star for though.

Been going here with my family since I was a tyke. We'd pile in the van and drive here, order shrimp and scallops, wait impatiently wait for it to cool down (sometimes burning our mouths) and enjoying it in the parking lot since this is a carry out only. Franks has got it down. Of all my years going here I've only had shrimp and sea scallops here, and they are all I need! The shrimp come in two batters, regular and Chicago. The Chicago has an amazing flavor that is nice, and not overpowering of the shrimp itself. I wish I could put my finger on what is in the seasoning, its slightly garlicy, but thats not the only flavor and as I stated before its not overpowering of the seafood/fish it batters. The other items on the menu I believe to only come in the Chicago batter. The food is made when you order it, so its always super fresh and PIPING hot. The scallops have hot "scallop juice" that gets trapped in the batter and it WILL burn your mouth bad if you aren't careful. All of the seafood/fish is deep fried, and the batter is lighter, not too greasy/oily, and leaves you craving more. The shrimp and scallops have always been of the freshest quality and great in size (You don't feel like you are being ripped off with measly shrimp and bay scallops). Once I found out where this childhood nostalgia was I was driving here more than my waist line and pocketbook could handle. The food is always cooked just perfectly, no rubbery shrimp or scallops here folks. This place is great and I hope they never change because they have the best fried shrimp I've ever experienced.
