This place is delicious! It's better than my go-to Thai restaurants in the city! If you're near buffalo grove, it's worth the trip. On the corner of Deerfield and weiland. My favorites are green curry chicken or tofu (it's like crack it's so good, and thicker than other restaurants), beef drunken noodle, spicy basil ground chicken (so juicy), basil fried rice. They have a full bar, also.

I always went to Fuji Thai (for lunch) and didn't think about trying this place after seeing that their prices were higher. We came here because we were killing time after work and saw a GroupOn. Their service is sooooooooooo bad!!!!! They were nice, but it took an hour for our curry and our papaya salad to come out. I lost all my appetitive by the time the food came. :( I just packed and went home. They didn't even pack the food for us.

This has the better panang curry in the block. The thick curry consistency and balance of sweet and spice was just perfect. It wasn't watery like the other place and I found the food really worth coming back for. The owner is also really nice and seems very kind. I'll be ba k here for more panang curry.

Had a Living Social here so figured we'd try it. Must say, the service was great! The place is really cute inside. When you order your beverages, they come in super huge glasses and it seemed like the appetizers were really good sizes as well. My friend had the sushi, she said it was ok, not great but not bad either. I had the chicken pad Thai and thought it was really good. The restaurant wasn't all that busy but I think that's because it's in a strip mall and it's easy to miss. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be back. All in all, I thought the employees were really nice, service was quick and the food was good. Give it a try.

Wow.. This is now my goto sushi place. Customer service was exquisite. The rolls were perfect. The rice melted in your mouth. Spider Roll had a whole softshell crab. Most restaurants will stretch one crab into 3 rolls. So as a former Chef I highly recommend this place. Give them a try and support local business!

We've been regular customers for 3 years and it used to be amazing. The food and service were impeccable. I think the ownership has changed because now the service is awful. The food is ok, not great. We received our food about 45 minutes after we ordered, add on the additional 15 minutes it took to take our order, and that's a full hour of wait time! The waitress didn't know the menu at all. She brought our order out and we told her it was wrong. Her response "it's ok with you, right?" She brought the salad out ten minutes after our entrees and gave no apologies for any mistakes. What added insult to injury was the owner barely acknowledging our complaint. Instead of saying sorry, she said we should order in sequence next time so our order is right. Definitely my last time going there.

I'm back to give a brand new review of Oishi Thai! We have been regular customers since 2010 and even drive 40 minutes to eat there! See my review from 2010! NOW, I will say that we are NO LONGER customers of this restaurant! The last two visits we were majorly disappointed! Our food came out cold and absolutely tasteless. The food took 45 minutes to come to our table. The owner claimed that they " only have one cook," and that that was the excuse for the slow service and tasteless food!! Guess what? The restaurant was empty, we were the ONLY patrons at 6:00pm on a Friday night!! The Pad Thai was greasy and the noodles were over cooked. The Sushi was bland and didn' t seem fresh! Do NOT waste your money or time!

I went to Oishii Thai a few months ago, and it was decent sushi. That being said, the fact that its only 5 minutes away and I haven't been back leaves me thinking it wasn't the best sushi I have had by any means. Ambiance: It has a very low end restaurant vibe. Nothing fancy about it, but nothing wrong with that either. Food: The food was good, but once again it wasn't anything to write home about. We ordered a few basic rolls, and they tasted good. That being said, there was nothing special about the menu or the items offered. Staff: The staff was very nice, and the service seemed pretty quick. Overall, I think the A-OK rating on Yelp fits it Oishii Thai well. There isn't much happening on the unique side, but if you in the area and want some quick rolls this is probably a good option for you. Thanks, Connor Brady

Dont even bother to come an eat here. I went there with my family for a dinner on Friday night and the service was pathetic. They only had one server who every time kept saying sorry when he came by the table. 1) none of the table were set 2) few of the tables had dishes from the previous guest lying there until after I had my dinner and walked out 3) we were served empty glass and after waiting about 15 mins I had to ask to please bring the water. One of the glass had white particles floating in it 4) food was brought randomly. Our appetizer was veggie pot stickers and they brought us chicken pot stickers 5) awful food taste... the Basil Fried Rice sucked...we left it on the table without touching 6) after all this when we told the owner about how bad the Friday night dinner was, the only word she said was Sorry and walked away. For me it was a first and last time. Not even worth trying

I live close to the area so I've been here many times. I want to give this place a higher rating because all of the staff and the managers are extremely nice, but there are some problems. First and foremost the food is good if not great. The Pad Thai is about average, but the Phanaeng noodles are the best I've had at any Thai place. The prices are reasonable and I feel like it's cheaper than Fuji Thai across the street. The restaurant is very clean and has a nice ambiance. Like I said before all of the staff is very friendly. I normally do carry out and I've never had a wait time more than fifteen minutes The problems: 1.) The few times I've dined in, the bar has been out of different beers. 2.) Like many have said before the wait in the restaurant is usually pretty long. 3.)The biggest problem I have is there hours. They claim to be open on Saturdays and Sundays but I can count four or five times I've tried to come in or call and they have actually been closed. Overall I'd recommend this place as a reasonable neighborhood Thai restaurant. It's good for carry out, and if your ok with waiting a little longer than normal it might be a fun date place or family night out

Came on a Saturday evening for dinner to see it completely empty. Concerning. A fat fly kept buzzing around my head - I hated it more than the twin fruit flies flitting in front of me. Annoying. They settled on the soy sauce bottle where it pours out. I tried swatting them away but alas, as the only table with food and people, they returned for the rest of dinner. The ambiance is okay. I'm glad they expanded and made it all pretty, but besides that, the booths themselves are small and the tables aren't big. We got seated at booth next to the windows (which had smudges and pieces of straw wrappers on the frame), and getting in/out without bumping the table or accidentally shoving the booth seat (it's not attached to the ground) was a challenge. I like the bathroom - very clean (lack of use) and modern. There's a small bar in the back with a limited range of alcohol if anyone ever wants to get drunk while eating drunken noodles. No background music, but they do have a TV and Mulan quietly played. The waitress didn't really know the menu too well, but she seemed sweet albeit quiet. I asked her the difference between the Thai iced tea and Thai iced coffee and she said she wasn't sure but the coffee was more bitter. They also don't add condensed milk; instead, they add half and half. Both taste like diabetes in a glass - super sweet. I wonder if they add lots of sugar to the coffee and tea even before the half and half. Even the supposedly bitter coffee was like drinking syrup. If you do get one of these, I recommend sharing them. In addition, as a group we wanted to split the Tom Yum soup but were told that the large wasn't big enough to split. She blankly described the small as "very small." I asked how big the large was in comparison, and she only said, "It's ramen bowl size." Ramen bowls come in different shapes and sizes, please gesture or give some actual unit of measurement. Basically, all I understand is $4.95 will barely feed one person and $9.95 will feed one person with a bigger appetite. Whatever, we settle for the calamari appetizer ($7.95) and it's pathetically tiny. Lou Malnati's has a bigger and better calamari appetizer for $7.75 that can feed more than one person. We awkwardly pick 2-3 thin, tiny rings per person and dip it in the sweet and sour sauce with peanuts. The sauce is light and sweet, but I wish we had more calamari to use it with. The calamari is lightly fried and chewy, but for nearly $8, I don't think it's worth ordering. Why does a small appetizer cost about the same as a full entree? This is true for a lot of the highly priced appetizers (Edamame for $3.95? Are you serious? It's literally steamed soybeans). The wait for our food was reasonable - fifteen to twenty minutes after ordering the calamari came, then a few more for the Mexican roll ($9.95), then the pad thai ($9.95), and finally the BG roll ($10.95). Unfortunately, I feel Oishii Thai isn't group friendly beyond large seating arrangements. For the high prices, I expected them to be like Joy Yee - large portions at a higher price for sharing. Instead it's small portions at a higher price and you can't really share. I will admit the plating is pretty! Instagram worthy! One annoyance is the small portions come on big plates that barely fit on the table. The pad thai is decent, but by far not the best. Not a lot of vegetables or chicken, but the noodles are soft and sweet. Seriously, I felt ripped off because I pretty much got noodles. I had to pick through the noodles to find small fragments of chicken, less existent egg, to non-existent vegetables (literally no carrots, chives, beansprouts or radish could be found despite the menu description) - although there are green onions. Also, meat options for dishes are chicken only; otherwise, it's $1 more for beef or pork, $3 for seafood, and $2 for any additional meat, veggies, or noodles. Tofu is another free option. The rolls are standard Americanized rolls. They are pretty good for a glorified Cali roll, but pricey for 8 pieces. What pissed me off was, while drinking my iced tea, the fly flew between my hand and the glass, causing me to nearly drop it while freaking out. I got fed up and slammed it with my only napkin (nooo) and after two tries, killed the sucker. We used a $40 Groupon. For future Groupon users, although not explicitly stated, it's usable for dine in ONLY and you must buy enough food to surpass the value of the Groupon - so you can't spend $35 and give them the $5 as a tip. Spend over $40, then it's usable. Still, $50 didn't really feed four people. I feel like this place is only in business because of high prices. It's nothing special and I'd probably give it three stars for being average if it wasn't for the lack of cleanliness and the high price to small portion ratio. For a suburban Thai place, I suggest I Am Siam or something else because Oishii Thai is not impressive. Maybe people will come for an "exotic" meal, but I don't think I will return.

Good sushi but way to much for delivery! Don't waste your time going in to pick up sushi they are beyond slow and the high schoolers that work there at unprofessional and look high half the time. I would go else where for sushi

Came here for a nice little Thai dinner with my family...place was completely empty. A little worrisome, until the food came out. It was absolutely delicious. My Mom and I both got the Pad Woon Sen and my cousin got the Pad Thai. Both very very good. Will be back next time I visit the BG.

I'm updating my review to include our horrible meal from tonight. We're guilty of going to Oishii ONLY because it's walking distance from our home. My wife ordered a cashew and tofu dish with water chestnuts and they gave it to her with mushrooms. I ordered a $17 chicken teriyaki dish that was maybe $2 worth of food. It was an absolute joke with almost no sauce. They're slow, overpriced and they screw up practically every order. We're done with Oishii forever.

  • Larry H.

AT TWO STARS YOU SHALL REMAIN, Oishii. On my return visit, the groupon was the only thing redeemed. Service was fine and the food came out at a reasonable rate. The food was ok but missing that extra layer of flavor. The portion size seemed a tad small to me, and definitely too expensive for what I got. I got them fried noodles Lard Nar with tofu (that and chicken are the only "free" protein options), and it was like 13 bucks pre tax/tip. kinda pricey, right? So maybe I'm jaded from my past experience but it seems unlikely I would come back, unless I really wanted some asian styled noodles. The music this time was misc piano tunes, so Justin Timberlake got the night off.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. We were served rotten sushi, inedible pad thai, and potstickers that were obviously purchased premade in the Jewel freezer section. The waiter spilled water all over our table. I ate here a few years ago and it was good, so I don't know what happened. They also seem to have lost their liquor license very recently, because the waiter said, "Um, the village shut our bar down last week" when I ordered a Mai Tai. My husband and I were not able to eat more than two bites apiece of the horrible sludge we were served, and it still made us sick to our stomachs. No other customers in the place except another couple who said they were regulars who usually liked the food, but that night they were as horrified as we were. Stay away, unless you want food poisoning.

A close friend introduced me to this super cute restaurant in the burbs. Service is great. Thai Iced Coffee is HUGE. Their one appetizer the spicy tuna salad was the perfect combination of sweet spicy freshness. Best pad thai I've ever had HONEST TO GOODNESS! We got a chicken dish that was deep friend with a sweet and sour sauce .... this was super good minus the pumpkin and sweet potato at the bottom which i thought was chicken and when i bit into it it wasn't the flavor I was expecting to taste if you know what I mean lol. So just for the future to ask for those veggies on the side with no sauce. Sushi was great! Will I be back? Definitely yes!

Went back with my mom to try their lunch special. Ordered pad see yu and fried rice. After a few bites, i found a metal piece from a metal sponge in my main entree. Called the waitress and showed the piece, just to see her staring at it without any response. No apologies or further reactions. I had to suggest to make a new dish and had to wait another 10 min or so for the food. We were charged full price for the dishes and got no apologies. I'm still giving 2 stars for the taste of the dishes. 3 stars taken of for the sanitary reason.

It took almost 20 minutes for lunch to be served and another 15 minutes for check after the lunch was done. There was only one person attending the cashier counter as well as looking after the guest .. The glass in which water was served had a chip at the surface and was replaced after being pointed out .. Had a very bad experience visting this place the second time

I've never gotten anything here other than panang chicken curry but it's one of the best panang curries I've ever had. The dishes aren't that big and it's kinda pricey for what you get but it's delicious and worth it when I need my curry fix.

I've unfortunately not had the chance to taste any food from Oishii Thai, and after my experience tonight, I don't think I ever will. Judging by the way the restaurant smelled, I'm disappointed, because the food probably has the potential to be really delicious. I placed an online order through the Oishii Thai website tonight - Panang Curry with chicken and a coconut bubble tea - for pickup. Their website directed me to pre-pay through paypal, even though it was a pickup order. I received an e-mail confirmation from paypal that my transaction had been completed, but no timing on when my order would be ready. Knowing on average that most thai restaurants quote 15-20 minutes for pickup, I arrived at the restaurant 20 minutes after receiving the confirmation from paypal. When I walked in, the kid behind the counter (probably a high school student) asked if he could help me, and I explained that I had placed an order online for pickup. He nervously glanced over at the one waitress, and she looked at me nervously as well. I knew this was not going to end well. "Oh, you ordered online and already paid?" yes. "Oh, what did you order?" I repeated my order. "Oh, sorry, we don't have bubble tea anymore." Will you refund me? "yes." Okay. "We will start making your Panang curry now, we haven't seen your online order yet." This is where I drew the line. I had already waited 20 minutes, and now I'm at the restaurant and they haven't even started the food yet? Nope. So, I asked that they just refund my entire purchase and cancel the order. The waitress said okay (seemingly not really caring that I was inconvenienced.) She asked for my paypal transaction number for the refund, so I gave it to her from the confirmation e-mail. She said "okay, we will refund you." I said great, and handed her my card to reverse the transaction. She began to back pedal, saying that I would not be refunded now, rather, the owner had to go into the paypal system and reverse the charge, which, could "take a day or two." I asked for something in writing guaranteeing my refund, and I was given a post it that said "REFUND" with the date and the amount. At this point, another employee (a manager, maybe?) came up and they started speaking to each other in (assumingly) Thai. They looked to be arguing. At the end of the exchange, she asked for the post it back, and gave me cash (some of which, she had to pull from her purse.) I'm not going to be bothering to try Oishii Thai again in the future.

This is an example of the sushi/Thai combo restaurant. Sushi seems to be the plus one formula for a lot of places, a quick way to raise the hip quotient while maintaining an otherwise traditional menu. The food is decent here, nothing extraordinary but they can cook. Where it falls short is in the details. The restaurant expanded sometime between late 2009 (my last time here) and now, doubling in size and shirking its former claustrophobic confines. The menu is improved, more inviting and colorful than I once recalled. The service is friendly and attentive though I haven't seen them really busy yet. My last order of egg noodles in a coconut broth with shrimp was very tasty. They were quick with refills on water. Now a couple of little quibbles. Tea, an almost foregone perk at most asian restaurants was a tad pricey. On a follow-up lunch visit, the complimentary soup came out cold. There is plenty of opportunity for improvement and I would love to try out more of their menu but they'd better up their game soon.

We ordered for carry-out tonight and I got the broccoli delight with vegetable egg rolls. I asked if I could substitute fried rice for the white rice and they said there would be small charge (normal and expected). When my husband brought the food home and I looked at the receipt, they had charged $4 to upgrade to fried rice! That's ridiculous - and the food wasn't even good. It was bland and tasteless. The veggie egg rolls were decent, but they tasted like frozen ones I could buy at the grocery store. My husband's curry noodle dish was practically soup. No plans to eat here again.

This is my favorite Thai place! My girlfriend and I come here all the time. I especially like all there curries and pineapple fried rice but I've never tried anything here I didn't like. The service here is great too. I would definitely recommend Oishii Thai to anyone.

Nice atmosphere but the cooking is only okay. Service is a bit slow. The buffalo grove roll is fried and tasty. Pad woonsen is a bit soft in texture and salty. Unagi don is tasty but portion size is a little small. Sweet and sour has a decent flavor. Not a bad place to go but not somewhere which I'd make a normal dinner stop.

I have been going to Oishii Thai since they first opened in early 2009, the food was always consistent and the service was good. Then I stopped going around 2010 after their rival from across the street started giving out 15% off coupon in the mail. Sorry Oishii, I am cheap like that... Few months ago, to my surprise, in the same coupon mailer I found Oishii's coupon as well, 20% off! This sure will bring me back, good move Oishii. When I go to Oishii Thai, I stick with their Thai fare. I have been to Bangkok six times, so I know a decent Thai meal when I see one. Their Pad Kra Prow (Spicy Basil) is always good, although missing the fried egg which you will normally find in Thailand, but I will let this slide, I am in Buffalo Grove, IL after all. Panang Curry is very flavorful, yet milder and lack of the taste of lemongrass and galangal, but still good. Their Americanized Pad Thai, Pad See Ew and Lard Nar will not disappoint you if you are used to the Thai food in the States. What I realized after my long absence from Oishii Thai is, their portion is larger than their rival across the street. I have left overs! You have won me back Oishii, keep up with the good work.

Take out-Had the orange chicken it was $12.95 and it was not worth it. I should have gone up the street to yen yen. They combine it with sweet potato and pumpkin with thin strips if chicken it was about 50/50 chicken to veg. It didn't taste at all like orange. And it was super salty almost inedible. I wanted to get fried rice as the side and they don't offer that you would have to buy it for $9.95. Forget that. Overall not a good experience and will not be going back.

The service was extremely slow and poor. The food was mediocre at best and definitely not worth the price. Knowledge of food safety practices was questionable. Our group of five arrived at 12:10 PM and didn't walk out the door until 1:45. Once we received our food, we ate it in less than 5 minutes - we had to hurry and return to work. In the hour in a half we were waiting, our server came to our table once and that was to bring us our drinks. He never came back to check on us..offer us drinks...nothing. I had to stop him in the middle of taking care of the other two tables to find out how much longer it will be before we get our food. Both times I asked him, he said it would be a few minutes. I finally gave up on him and talked to a woman (owner?). She told me four times the food was being plated. Shortly after the fourth time, she came back to our table to get clarification on a couple orders; obviously, the food wasn't being plated. I also told the woman I wanted the automatic 18% gratuity removed from our bill. At one point, I stood outside the kitchen where I could see them plating food. The same woman I spoke to moments ago (who was serving food to another table and clearing dishes), was plating salad with her bare hands - straight from the salad bin to the plates. There were less than a handful of people in the restaurant. When we finally received our food and ate, I had to go to her both times to get the bill and pick-up the the 3 charge cards (she was well aware that we were in a hurry). The 18% gratuity was removed from the bill. When she returned after running the 3 cards, she barely put the cards down before asking where the rest of the money was (two of us were paying cash and had it ready to go). Never did she offer to discount our food (we had no problem paying the full price - not an issue) even though it's the proper thing to do under the circumstances. As soon as we started walking towards the door, I looked behind me and saw her counting the cash we left for the remaining two bills. I eat out often and have never seen anyone do that. Needless to say, none of us left a tip.

Cucumber salad was bitter, old cucumbers and barely any dressing or flavor, $4.95 for cucumber salad - way too expensive. 9.95 for soup to share, the soup was pretty generic and lacked any sort of real flavor or flair. The 9.95 price point on the soup was outrageous, not even in the city would a Thai place charge for this very low quality soup with only generic vegetables and oxidized mushrooms, and low quality vegetables. My friend ordered pineapple fried rice, it came out very greasy. I ordered maki rolls and sadly they were sloppy at best. Uneven pieces, not consistent or tightly rolled. We noticed the waitress bullying others who work there in the kitchen (exposed kitchen). Strange table in the back which is like a family dining table but it's loaded with papers as though it were someone's office. Our waitress was responsive and nice enough to us, she did her job very well. The main problems with this restaurant are the following: 1.) outrageous prices for the quality of food 2.) location in a strange strip mall with awkward parking 3.) presentation of the food, it was sloppy and rolls were rolled like a complete amateur would do, chipped dishes. The restaurant was nicely decorated and the service was just fine.

Be careful... we went for their promo of all you can eat Sushi for a fixed price. We were not aware of the size of each item ( we usually had Chinese or Thai) and when we ordered the waiter just snickered and placed the order. We waited a long time then when the food arrived it took took of them to carry it out on a large bamboo boat. They were just laughing and we obviously could not finish the order so we had to pay the difference (which was in fine print and we were not informed). The outcome was a $150 bill for the two of us. We had two guests with us and they would not let them share even though they had ordered meals for themselves. I wont be going back. The food was just OK as far as Sushi goes. Too bad for them as we were regular weekly guests prior to this.

After 2 lousy experiences (the second far worse than the first) i wish i could give this place zero stars! My husband and I decided to try this place when we moved to the area. Our first visit we ordered drinks and sushi. The dirty vodka martini i ordered was delivered made with Gin and when i sent it back they remade it with sweet vermouth instead of dry... and anyone who drinks martinis knows that's pretty gross. But i decided to let that one slide since a sushi/Thai restaurant might not be the best place to get a martini. The real disappointment set in when our sushi arrived. Not only were the slices of fish nearly thin enough to see through, but the order was not as listed in the menu. Instead of a special roll, it came with a California roll. When we brought this to our waiter's attention he immediately went to get us the roll that was listed but from the kitchen we could hear the woman behind the counter (not a sushi bar) say "well i gave them 8 pieces." We decided that we would certainly not be back for sushi but would be willing to give the Thai food a try because the place is very close to our home and the waiter was very nice and attentive and most of the yelp reviews were pretty good. On our second visit - about 8 weeks later - the waiter actually remembered us which we were impressed with but the good service came to an abrupt halt after that. We waited a good 20 minutes for a bowl of rice for our 10 month old and even longer for the Chicken Satay appetizer and our Soup entrees. When the chicken finally arrived we cut into it and it was pink in the middle! I sent it back right away and they said they would remake it. Another 10 minutes passes and the waiter returns to tell us that it would be out shortly but also accuses us of "eating most of it" before sending it back. When i argued with him that we absolutely did not eat any of it he reiterated that it didn't matter and they were remaking it. The accusation was not only completely false (who eats chicken they think is raw???) but so offensive that we opted to leave without getting our entrees. The waiter was apologetic and brought us our check for our wine and rice pretty quickly and then brought out the chicken satay they had claimed they were "re-making" but it was the same chicken we had returned to them 15 minutes before. It was cut into in the exact way i had cut it. I am tempted to report it to the health department but considering how few people were in the restaurant on a Friday night, i cant imagine they will stay open much longer anyway. Save your time and money and check out Fuji Thai at the opposite corner of the intersection - much better food and service!

Oishi Thai is my neighborhood "to go" for Thai. I've been there a half dozen times in the last year. The service has always been excellent. All I need to do is make eye contact with the server they are are right there with a smile. My favorite meal there is the Basil Duck. Scrumptious! Enough for 2 meals. Served fresh and piping hot. It's one of there "spicy" dishes. But it's never too spicy just perfect. Another favorite is their Pad Thai. Flavorful to the tenth degree also extremely fresh and served piping hot. The atmosphere is quaint and very comfortable, the service is on target, and the prices are reasonable. A must go if you are in the neighborhood.

Worst.Service.Ever. I am 52 years old and I tip well...even when service is bad I still tip...I'm a softie like that. Until now. I tipped one dollar on a big bill. I was with a party of 15...we had reservations for 5:30. We were the only party in the restauant. It took a while to get menus, another while to order and an eternity to get our food. After way too long of a wait...Items would trickle out periodically and each time, the person bringing it would have no idea who had ordered it. And since he spoke such poor english, we couldn't understand what he was saying even after asking him to repeat it three times. The first person to get his food was done eating 15 minutes before the last person got hers. I bussed our table by picking up empty dishes and depositing them on the empty table behind us. I ordered sushi and it was good...but I coudln't enjoy it since I was one of the last to get my food...and also coudn't enjoy it with the after taste of outrage in my mouth. I got up and found chop sticks for some of my guests and found a plate to give my wife so she could eat her sushi. Sadly, I coudn't find her a bowl for soy and asking for items like this didn't do much good. I ordered the cucumber salad...something I usually enjoy at Thai restarunts and I wish I could tell you if it was good...BUT IT NEVER CAME! It's been 4 hours since I ordered it so It might just be ready now. If you want unapologetically horrible, horrible service and so-so Thai food and sushi, this is the place for you. Did I tell you that while we were there, there was one couple who came in and sat a booth? When they saw us bussing our own table and realised that they were never going to have their order taken, they got up and left...and all through this experience, people were coming in for carry out and that seemed to be going well. But in person? Forget it. We also had one person in our party who had to leave before his food came...he gave up...and they told us they could package his food for take out and it would just be a minute. it took 12.

EXCELLENT restaurant! Don't let the outside of the building sway you (an average strip mall), this is a very nice restaurant with excellent food. Great PadThai. This is a must when my kids are back in town from college. One of their favorites - and now I know why. Yum!

I went here for lunch one day and was pretty satisfied. I ordered the Drunken Noodles which were great. It was a generous portion for a lunch special. I was a little disappointed in the tiny soup and salad that came with the food. The pot sticker was pretty good, I was not expecting this since some of the reviews on here concerning them were negative. I will return and probably try the restaurant again at dinner time. The location is great for me. The service was fairly attentive as well.

We had a nice meal at Oishii Thai. I'd actually like to give it 3.5-3.75 stars, but just not sure it deserves the full 4. We felt a little forced into the first booth in the joint because we had our kid with us. He's actually amazingly good in all restaurants so the early judgment was a little annoying. We then waited almost 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order. From there everything went quite well, but slow opening just left a little bad taste. Food was all delicious. Chicken Pad Thai, fried rice, mini egg rolls were all on the money. Sushi rolls were fair. I personally like Fuji Thai across the street a little more due to overall layout and the lack of judgement upon entry. And note that I never complain about that stuff. This was the first time I've experienced the whole "Ugh, put the people with the kid all the way in front away from everyone else." treatment.

Decent food but chronically late and extremely rude when called for explanation. Get your Thai or sushi elsewhere

Fresh tasting Thai. Some of the best Thai I've had in the Northern Suburbs. On par with Tusk Thai in Batavia. Love the Panang Curry and the Drunken Noodles. My kids and husband love the Oishi Beef.

Absolutely the worst service ever. Would not consider walking back in this place. The service is like zombies from the walking dead.

First of all, parking was a bit of an obstacle course, even when I went at 2:30pm for lunch. And the menu has way too much to choose from for a first-timer. Now that I got the only negatives out of the way to try to make this a fair and balanced reporting of Oishii Thai, here are the positives... There's too much to choose from on the menu. It was a warm summer afternoon, so I decided to go with something light and cooler--their sushi. This was a terrific choice. I had the Lady's Special (Rainbow roll and 5 sushi (chef's choice)), the volcano roll, and the Spicy Crunchy Rainbow roll (apparently I was really in the mood for Skittles, with the rainbow theme...). The sushi was all very fresh, prepared fairly quickly (since they were also working on two business take-out orders that had previously been phoned in), and while I was waiting, I was given a small Coke just while waiting. This was a nice touch to the service. Next time I think I'll try some of the Thai dishes for dinner. And don't worry if the OPEN sign isn't lit, they're usually open anyway.

Whenever I'm in the suburbs and craving quick, decent priced and delicious pad thai, this is definitely the place to go! Never been disappointed! Also, their chicken with rice soup is amazing!

Can't go wrong with this Thai place. I got the tofu tom yum and the chicken panang thai and they were delicious. The prices are fairly high for a Thai place and the service is a little stiff, but I would come back if I was in the area.

The small space is used well in this escape from the usual weekday lunch spots. Oishii Thai is comfortable inside, even if you're sat along the banquette where the tables are close to each other. It gets slammed at lunch, but they also do carry out, so if you're craving Thai and are in the area, check it out. I had the pad thai with chicken lunch special on my last visit. The waitress brought me a cup of Tom Yum soup to start my meal. This sweet and sour Thai soup with tofu and a few veggies was good, but a little on the oily side. A few spoonfuls is a nice way to hold out until your meal arrives. The pad thai lunch special comes with two fried potstickers, and a small salad with a ginger dressing. The pad thai was mushy and tasted of muddled flavors. I think the noodles were overcooked, and the sauce was too sweet for my preference. Pad Thai is made with Tamarind, and should be a little sweet, but balanced, which this was not. The potstickers were also sweet, in an undesirable way, and the salad was fresh and decent enough. This is not the most authentic Thai experience you'll have, but you will have Thai....food.

I am a very loyal customer to this authentic small business. I work right down the street and my coworkers and I find ourselves coming back again and again. We have been coming to Oishii since around the time it opened and it is awesome to see how popular they are becoming. More and more I see the place filling up during lunch time. We have come to know the server by name and he always remembers our favorite dishes. The best time to go for great specials and prices is during lunch. I usually go with the lunch special which is any noodle dish, soup of the day, and a couple fried veggie stickers all for $7.95, and did I mention you get a small peanut sauce salad. All those who enjoy Thai cuisine will not regret trying Oishii. I understand that every individual has their own favorite Thai place so if you think Oishii is not the best Thai ever, you will most certainly appreciate the food and the experience. -Loyal customer and frequent Thai eater

The lighting is a bit odd, it made everyone look like they were afflicted with jaundice. I ordered a seafood curry and the "thai wontons" as appetizers. The wontons were homemade but they were six for $7 which meant that each piece was more than $1. The curry was actually quite competent, an generous in portions but the sizable scallops (I think they were U/10), were cold. The two items were around $24 before tax, the price did not really faze me, but they charged me $2 for an extra bowl of rice. A bowl of rice that took me 10 mins to get even though they had three servers standing around and there were only three tables in the restaurant. $2 for a bowl of rice when they offer all-you -can-eat sushi is ridiculous.

Went for the first time for lunch. Ordered 3 lunch specials. I didn't notice that the menu stated no soup and salad with take out until my order was ready to go. No problem, my oversight. I paid $32.00 for the 3 special. The portions were very small. We were all still hungry after finishing our meal. The food fair. Don't plan on going back.

This place was a complete disaster! While the food was good, I didn't care for the variety of of sushi available. The service was absolutely horrible! We came in a party of 7 and apparently that was just too much to handle. Our food came out one plate at a time. The last plate arriving 40 minutes after the first one! And it was the WRONG DISH! Not only that the waiter stood at the end of the table and rather then delivering the dish to the correct person he just handed it to the person on the end and said to pass it down. He did this for EVERY dish he brought, even soup. And my three year was in the middle so everything had to be passed over her head. It was ridiculous! We had a coupon from restaurant.com and even though it says 18% gratuity would be automatically added to the check it was NOT included on the check. We even asked to make sure and he confirmed that gratuity wasn't included . Even though we were so upset with the service we left a 18% tip on the price of the meal BEFORE the discount. We paid in cash and the waiter came back and demanded an extra $9 because we didn't tip enough. My mother-in-law gave him a $10 bill and we stormed out. As we were leaving he tried to give us the $1 change and my brother-in-law just threw it back in the guys face. I can not believe the nerve of him asking for more money because he wasn't happy with the tip we left!

We went to this place for lunch. We ordered the veg. potstickers, Thai iced tea, Tom Kha soup, Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and Spicy basil. The potstickers were good. The Tom Kha soup was way too "milky" and lacked the flavour. The Pad Thai was highly ok. The Drunken noodles and the Spicy Basil were very average. The 2 stars are for the good service, decent veegtarian potstickers and the delicious Thai iced tea. I was kind of disappointed with the food.

Ah, good ol' Oishii Thai. They have interesting food. Where do I start... Their thai is good...but this is coming from somebody who isn't a thai food expert. Their sushi is good/bad. At first it's good, but then it kinda goes downhill as you keep eating it. You see, to make sushi rice you need to coat the rice in a mixture of rice vinegar, salt, and sugar, among other things. Somebody over at Oishii Thai is a big fan of sugar. When eating their sushi, although pretty good, it is way too sweet! Sushi rice should not be sweet like that! It is okay for the first roll, but then it is obnoxious. That being said, I would recommend sushi only as part of their all you can eat special or as an appetizer for you thai food. Also, I love crab rangoon, and this place has some pretty good rangoons. Just throwing that out there. Friendly staff, small place, gets the job done. Check out their offers on restaurant.com as well.

My husband and I LOVE Oishii! Delicious Thai food, huge portions, and low prices? Who could ask for more? But wait, there IS more. There are always coupons floating around, for 15-20% off the entire check. I love coupons. Their sushi is actually killer. They make an original roll called the Buffalo Grove Roll, which has 3 different kinds of fish, crab, asparagus, avocado, and masago, and the whole thing is tempura-ed. There are 10 pieces to this monstrously delicious roll. They have an all you can eat option, and it's the most extensive list of all you can eat options I've ever seen. For $20 a person, you choose from tons of sushi (including the above-mentioned BG Roll), as well as many popular Thai dishes on a smaller scale. We always leave the restaurant disgustingly overstuffed and satisfied. I can't wait to go back.

We had a restaurant.com coupon here. Definitely the way to go because we got to try a bunch of food and we had enough leftovers for lunch the next day! Quick , friendly service. Great rolls and Thai. Drunken Noodles (my go-to Thai dish) was different than I was used to but still tasty. I do love the ostrich skin decor...makes me feel fancy :)

Ok, I wasn't expecting much...a sushi restaurant that serves thai food as well....that too in a strip mall...Boy was I wrong! the minute you walk in you notice the ambience which is very soothing, wall colors, the art etc says classy. Coming to the food they offer a all you can eat dinner, the menu is quite extensive, you can order sushi as well as Thai dishes(pad thai, green currry etc).I got the all you can eat Sushi dinner. I got Miso Soup and 3 rolls. The soup was delicious and hot, I mean hot ...not luke warm(as in many restaurants) they did not skip on the tofu as well. I got The Beauty and the Beast roll, which I thought was fantastic. The spicy tuna was not as spicy as I expected it. My husband got the Drunken noodles off the al la carte menu. He liked it a lot, I thought it could do with more heat. The owner/chef, the wonderful Mrs. Sinee Techa stopped by our table and chatted with us a bit. She gave me the recipe for their hot chilli pepper, they serve as a condiments. You should try it, sprinkle a bit over your meal, it has a nice kick. Something you should keep in mind, when you order your food, you should let the waiter know what level of heat you want. It wasn't so obvious to me, but it is on their menu! I will definately going back here. It is just a short walk from my home, I will be taking my sushi crazy friends here for sure.

A little pricey (even for lunch). That is the only reason that I did not give them 5 stars. Very good food and decent portion sizes. Friendly greeter (doubled as our server) and we were seated promptly. Lunch specials are numerous, but again, a little expensive. Parking is tough at lunch time. Great aesthetics as well!

Oh how I wish I liked Oishii Thai! The location is perfect if one lives in Buffalo Grove; the food, alas, not so much. Tried it twice in the past couple of years. The first time was soon after its opening. The beef in the Pad See Yew was impossibly stringy, other food (some curry dish) was tolerable. Decided to give it another go a few months ago. Service was ridiculously slow, given that there were no other patrons in the place. The food can best be described as "meh". For now, I'll have to continue to travel to Schaumburg for my Thai fix.

When my friend and I entered the restaurant, we clearly asked the waitress if we could use our 25 dollar restaurant.com gift certificate. also after we ordered, i asked her if our drinks would be covered and she read the entire coupon and knew we were ordering the all you can eat sushi, and said it would be fine. 2 rolls, 2 hand rolls, a pad thai, fried tofu, miso soup and a few spare sushi pieces, my friend and i hand over the coupon with our credit card, and a different waiter took it and told us we could not use it. He brought out the manager who had the audacity to try to haggle down the discount amount with us!! she said she'd only honor 15 dollars off, and then 20, and then finally she caved in and said she couldn't argue with us anyway and put it through. When we got the bill, she actually made us pay tax on the full price, not the discounted price, which is not right of her to do, and then when i ordered a bubble tea (as a courtesy to a different, very nice and funny waiter), they charged me around 6 dollars JUST for that. She also said we had to promise to come back if she'd honor the discount - yeah right. you know, for the 23.95 ayce x2, and a diet coke and a bubble tea, it came to around 56 dollars, but the total i ended up having to pay was 42 - which CLEARLY is not 25 dollars off. now outside of that fiasco, the sushi was pretty good, but the thai iced tea (which i got with tapioca) and the pad thai were WAY too sweet. I mean sugar on a plate, it was just unenjoyable. so for food, i'd give the sushi a 3.5/5, the thai food a 2/5 and the service a 2 (it was a 5 with the nicer waiter, but once the manager came out it clearly turned sour for me)

Once again Oishii you have not failed me! My fiancé and I came her for valentines day dinner. We got off to a slow start with our sushi brought out before our soup but every seat in the house was full. The food was as tasty and ad fresh as always the miso soup piping hot! We got the all you can eat for 24$ and 9 rolls 3 miso soups a chicken satay and a red curry later. We are ready to be rolled out. Food was great service was good and we will be coming back yet again!

This place is horrible, horrible, horrible. The food is disgusting, the staff are incompetent and unprofessional, and the quality of the environment is completely lacking. 1 - My coworker and I came at lunch. When we walked in, we asked how long it was taking food to get out, since we didn't have hours to spare. One of the two kids working there told us that service would be quick. In actuality, it took over half an hour to get our food. 2 - We were not handed menus or even given water within the first 8 minutes of being there. 3 - One if the waiter kids had the audacity to argue with another worker when someone finally noticed that we didn't have menus or drinks. He actually said, "No, stop, I got this, it's mine." Right infront of us. Seriously? 4 - They are obviously in a small space, but seriously, it's disgusting that they have two tables of JUNK sitting next to the kitchen enterance. They are obviously being used by the workers. One table - which could have been used for seating customers - was instead covered in straw wrappers, empty (?) pop cans, a laptop, a jacket, and other miscellaneous garbage. Another table stand next to the kitchen had dirty cups and dishes piled next to the pitchers of water, which were being usedto pour water for the customers (when they got around to it). There was a windex bottle and a dirty rag sitting ON the sushi bar (patron side) as well. It just looks filthy in there. 5 - Again - it took half an hour to get our food. This is a small restaurant. One of the kids came out and said...after we were getting ready to leave because of the wait..."so, do you have Panang Chicken?" They didn't even know our order!!!!! 6 - What I'm guessing was supposed to be Miso soup was actually some thick chicken broth with tofu cubes and frozen peas and carrots. It was disgusting. My friend's Pad Thai was inedible. It was, essentially, corn syrup with noodles. Thick, sweet, and just oozing nastiness. I sincerely regret not going to Fuji Thai. Fuji Thai is miles above and beyond this place. We had gone to Fuji first, but they seemed a little packed, and so we thought we'd just run across the street. NEVER AGAIN. Fuji would have had us in and out in half the time with excellent, professional service and delicious, quality food. That's what I get for bailing on my Fuji! All in all, Oishii is a complete dump, it's workers are incompetent, and the food is poor.

This place disappointed me a bit on a Saturday night when compared to their elaborate online menu. We received a much shortened menu that dispensed with most of the Japanese & Sushi items. We had the Choo-Chee Seafood ($17) - delicious but not as spicy as expected from the "two star" rating! The Basil Chicken ($10) was a disappointment - very mild, with nearly ground chicken and lacking any basil flavor. The Tom Kha soup ($8) was really large for 2, with lots of chicken but lacking lemon grass or pepper flavor and rather mild compared to that I have had elsewhere. The server/manager was very pleasant and conversational. Note that soft drinks are served as just a can and a straw - a clash with the general sophistication of the serving dishes and glassware. The front booths may be far too tight, depending on who last sat in the others, since there really isn't much room for all 3 in this narrow storefront. The aura of the place is very much like a big city neighborhood place - tight quarters but a sophisticated atmosphere. Worth another try.

Character limit?! Argh! It's a surprisingly good looking restaurant where you would expect a semi-inhabitable dive (it's in a strip mall). We were the only ones in there but a few people came in to pick up food from the counter throughout our meal. Our server was great; just the right amount of attentive, friendly, accommodating, sharp/funny, and foreign (loved his thick accent and knowledge about the food). This is where the consensus between me and my bf splits. He LOVED it, and I thought it was just good enough to come back. I'll say that has more to do with the fact that I am not accustomed to ethnic cuisine while he is. I typically eat American, Polish, some Mexican, and some Chinese food (the Americanized types) while he loves authentic Indian and Asian food! Anyways, here is our meal: Appetizer - Thai Platter - crab rangoon (yum!), spring roll (alright), chicken satay (good!), potsticker (too fried, like spring roll) served with soy sauce, sweet/sour sauce, peanut sauce, and a cucumber salad Soup - Tom Yum with Shrimp (a pleasant level of spicy, but I didn't like this soup while my bf did, it just had a smell to it that made me* gag) Soup - Tom Kha with Chicken (yummy sweet soup, which I thought was alright and my bf ABSOLUTELY LOVED and is still moaning about it, haha!) Entree - Pad Woonsen with Chicken (yummy thin clear noodles in a brown sauce, an absolutely huge portion, wish it had greater ratio of veggies however and the chicken was too dry for me) Entree - Seafood Dynasty (a mixed seafood platter in a rich sweet and sour sauce served with a ball of rice, bf thoroughly enjoyed this!) Dessert - Thai custard (OMG this was delicious! but the bf thought it wasn't good at all) Our meal came to around $50, and we took most of the entrees home in a box. Also, our server was nice enough to throw in the Thai custard in for free as he saw I really wanted to try some but was about to explode. I give it a 3, bf gives it a 5. Our consensus? We will be going back again :) and you should go too! Recommended!

UNBELIEVABLE! Food was just dropped off for our office to sample and I am so delightfully impressed! They left enough food for an army yet it's only 15 minutes later and it's almost all gone, all I hear are praises and how good it is. Everything was incredible! A+++

My favorite Thai place in the northwest suburbs!!! This place is truly a great find! My fiance and I came in last minute before the store closed - and the owner was nice enough to serve us. Their Thai ice tea is tasty and refreshing. We ordered chicken pad thai, thai basil beef fried rice, veggie egg rolls, and of course - I just had to try one of their specialty rolls - shrimp tempura with unagi. They didn't have the specific roll that I wanted but they created it for me anyways!!! EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!! The service was excellent. You won't be disappointed! Super yummy - this is definitely my new Thai place to dine!

I would love to give this restaurant more stars but sadly I cannot. I have eaten there many times and the food has always been very good. The downside has consistently been the service. Whether take out or dine in, I find myself being almost offended by the careless and impolite attitude of the staff. While waiting what seemed forever for a take out order, I watched at least 5 high school boys laughing, talking and just standing around doing basically anything but help with with my order. They barely glanced at me when I was paying and grunted something I believe was supposed to be thank you. On one occasion while dining in, they brought my husband the wrong dish. Instead of fixing the situation, the waitress just started yelling at my husband that it was his fault that HE ordered wrong. Finally, the manager (not the owner who is always nice but sadly often not present) came over and finished waiting on us. They did make us the correct dish but after that, who could eat? My husband refuses to go back and I am sorry to say, I feel the same.

*Vegetarian Friendly Restaurant I came for lunch with a hunger that matched no other. The menu is pretty Vegetarian friendly because practically any dish can be made with tofu or meatless. There was so much I could order so I ended up getting Pad Thai ($9.95). The Pad Thai was good and piping hot. It was a little on the sweet side for my taste - I wish it was more spicy. I think considering this is a suburban joint, they lower the spiciness to anticipate the low tolerance for spiciness catering to the the average suburban dweller. If you are not adverse to the spice and you are dining in the suburbs, always specify how spicy you want your food. The decor was nice, not too shabby. The place is rather small, so prepared to feel a little cramped if the place is packed. My only complaint was the waitress was rather cold to me. I took my time deciding what to order and apparently that annoyed her? Okay... I don't think I got even an ounce of warmth, a smile, or even any acknowledgment beyond "your order"? The food came out fairly quickly, but man do something about the service and lighten up a bit. Geeze... I also had a Strawberry Freeze for $3.75 which is like a smoothie. That was pretty good, I think I detected a hint of lychee like taste. Pretty good price if you ask me. I think they also have bubble tea or tapioca balls or something too. All in all, I'll be back for takeout because of the craptascular service.

An interesting little strip mall pan-Asian place that a coworker brought me to after a great experience there. A small space with a few tight booths and a dozen or so tabletops. My friend raved over the pineapple fried rice he ordered here on his last stop here, but we were here for lunch and there was a great lunch menu of at least 12-15 entrees at $8-10 including soup and appetizer. We both tried a spicy basil chicken dish that was plentiful and quite tasty with a good kick even though I prefer my chicken in pieces and not minced. The gyoza were the 'appetizer of the day' and the miso soup was a nice addition. Service was prompt and friendly and the value for the money was quite good. I'll definitely return and might even try the all you can eat sushi deal!

Okay, you may have had a good experience here...but that's because you did not experience the extreme cheapness of the boss/owner. We went there for a birthday celebration, thinking, hey great, we love thai and we love sushi--why not combine and make it a thai/sushi buffet; plus it's 23.95 a person, it's gotta be decent for that price right? Answer is--WRONG! The sushi was heavily padded with rice--clearly a money saving campaign to fill up buffet customers quickly. Way to go, Oishii. Pack your sushi with rice at the expense of awesome taste just to save money--great plan. Plus the tuna had a fishy taste, as if it were sitting around for a while--clearly another money saving campaign [probably just didn't want to throw it out last night]. Word to the wise, if you're going to make food like sushi into a buffet, you have to be okay with wasting a little bit to maintain freshness and quality. That's the minimal requirement of any place...not only sushi. To top it off, the boss and his employees were constantly making things awkward. The business was a little slow that day, so the boss was telling one of his waitresses to go home without her tip [again with the money...see a trend here?], so naturally, she resisted leaving to keep her tips and wages. This went on for about half an hour until the waitress finally gave up and went home. This was really awkward, because we could tell they were trying to make it hush-hush but it instead made it very awkward for us while we're trying to eat. In most cases, this alone could ruin your meal. On top of that, that same waitress did not seem to understand the concept of a buffet meal. She gave us a very judgmental look when we asked for the menu. This made us really uncomfortable to continue order food, which was very upsetting, since I was going to be shelling out 50 bucks for this meal. Honestly, I could treat myself for a 30 dollar meal, sushi included, and serve myself with better service than this. Finally, the worst part of the evening was their customer service. Their menu isn't really clear between the distinction between rolls and individual pieces of sushi [they're all clustered next to each other, so it's really unclear what is what], and we accidentally ordered 2 rolls when we were expecting only 2 pieces of sushi. Naturally at that point, we were pretty full, so when we got that huge plate of sushi, boy were we in for a surprise. Of course, this was our fault, so I didn't blame them for this, but the way the owner handled the situation was outrageous. We told him right away that we made a mistake before eating the food and he just would not listen to my explanation of what happened. Instead, he ignored me and treated my words like they meant nothing and proceeded to charge me for the food I didn't finish. Again, because he's trying to save money. I ended up paying over 80 bucks for this meal of crappy service and mediocre food [really, padding with rice=NOT GOOD.] All in all, I'd say their loss. His business strategy of taking advantage of his customers for money is not going to go far. I was just thinking, if he let us go on our mistake, we might have overlooked some of the above problems and gone for more. For sure, this review would not have made it here. That would have been 20 bucks each time for the owner. I'm pretty sure after a few times that would have easily covered those last two rolls pretty quickly. But now, they lost two customers who really do love eating out. Bottom line--go across the street to Fuji Thai. They have better food, better service, and most of all, management that is not too cheap to actually give a crap about their customers.

Okay, so I can't believe anyone can say anything bad about this place. I've been to a plethora of thai places whether in Chicago, Evanston or surrounding subborbs and this definitely makes my top 3 thai places list! I absolutely LOVE the pad thai here, one of the best I've tried. I've been to Thailand a couple of times, and the authenticity of the noodles is shown in Oishii. The hot and sour soup is delicious and the crab ragoon and egg rolls are also to die for. I've met the owner and she's very nice, and she knows me by name now. Whether I've been with a party of 7 or just me and my boyfriend, Oishii has always exceeded my expectations. I will continue to come to this place at least once a week. Also, the lunch portions are great and include an appetizer and a soup for only 8 bucks! Plus you can always find 20% off coupons in Clipper magazine. GO there today and you'll know what you have been missing! One of the best thai restaurants I've ever had! And the ambience is adorable as well. :)

Best Thai in the suburbs that we have found yet. The Red curry, Panang Curry and Massaman Curry dishes are delicious! The Chicken Satay is cooked perfectly. Not the best thai food overall (Spoon Thai in Lincoln Square is the BEST) but in the suburbs it is the best.

We've went to Oishi Thai when they first opened for Thai food. Since then, we were told that they started offering sushi. We go out for sushi every Thursday night so this past Thursday, since we had a restaurant.com certificate, we decided to try Oishi Thai's sushi. The restaurant was packed. That being said, it was very difficult for the one server there that night to take care of all the tables so the service was slightly slow. Despite that, the food was incredible (as usual). We ordered the Beauty and the Beast sushi roll and the grilled salmon. Both were delicious and served quite beautifully. All in all, this is a wonderful thai and japanese restaurant. We'll be back.

I have tried food twice here despite a strange feeling upon entering. The cook/cashier promised fast service and reccomended me a vegetarian dish but it took almost thirty minutes and the food was nothing special. Other workers were sleeping in the booths and there were no other customers in the restaurant.. I felt like I was in someone's house rather than a restaurant. I stopped by today just to see if the place was still in business around 2:00PM and the doors were locked and it said closed, although I could see a girl walking around inside and a sign saying the store opened at 11:00... not sure what the deal was here but something eerks me about this place. Maybe a front for some illegal business because they do not care about customer service, cleanliness, or store appearance at all.

Isn't great dining about the food and customer service? We ordered takeout and was told 30min to pick-up. When we got there the sushi was not made. We were told 5 min. Yet we waited for 20 min for the sushi to be made. Meanwhile our cooked food was sitting on the counter for at least 20 min (when we got there the food was already on the counter). When I voiced my concern they did not care, in fact, they said that the food just came out? We saw it there when we first came in. The food was good but not that good to put up with the poor service. When we got home we found out that we were missing food that we ordered and paid for. They eventually delivered the missing food with one extra roll. B.L. I cannot believe how they really had no care about the quality of service.

Best burb thai i've had since living in Chi-Town. Had the pad thai which I liked alot. Service was ok, which was probably the worst part of the experience and was a little warm, but we sat near the cooktop. It was 90+ outside too. Would definitely go back.

Our favorite neighborhood Thai place. Always fresh pad thai, always fast carry out and decent prices. Hope they never close because we would really miss this hidden gem. If you live in BG and want fresh, delicious thai food, this is your place! An absolute must.

All I can say is WOW! The food is outstanding and the service was great. I was surprised by how nice the interior was. Everything is warm, inviting and relaxing. The egg rolls are the best I have ever had. They are light and crispy - not greasy at all. Normally I don't eat sushi but my friends talked me into it once they tried theirs. Talk about fresh and delicious. Oishii Thai is located in Buffalo Grove and it is easy to get to. I would strongly suggest giving it a try. I can't wait to go back for more!

Tucked away in a small strip mall, I was blown away by all the great dishes Oishii Thai had. My family, and I, took advantage of their lunch special and were able to sample almost half of their menu. Everything was very tasty - not too salty, or overly seasoned, which has been a problem with several other local Thai restaurants. The dishes ranged from authentic Japanese and Thai, to hybrid dishes that excited the palate and left us all pleasantly full. I particularly loved the Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Tom Kha, Panang Noodles, and Panang Curry. They also had very good and creative maki. Our server, who seemed to be in charge of the front end at the moment, was very friendly and make several excellent suggestions. I certainly recommend them to anyone with a taste for Japanese and/or Thai Food.

I really like the food here and so does my husband. We have ordered carry out 3 times and have been very pleased. We also have ordered/eaten at the thai restaurant across the street, and we have decided we like Oishii better. I just had the mango shrimp curry, and they reduced the spice perfectly for me (I prefer sweet and spicy). My husband likes anything with the spicy basil, but really liked the super spicy choo chee seafood. I really want to try the sushi, but we have a different local favorite, so have only ordered here to fulfill thai cravings.

I had been eagerly awaiting the opening of Oishii Thai. It took over the former space of Q-Cafe, and in fact utilizes the same tables and chairs, though everything has been reupholstered in faux ostrich skin (chocolate and celery tones) The food is very good overall, but not the best I've had. Everything is a bit too sweet, even for Thai food. I had panang chicken, no complaints. My husband had the beef salad and was crying that it was too spicy-it wasn't terrible but the dressing again was too sweet. The server was inexperienced. We had a party of 5, ordered spring rolls, peanut spring rolls and chicken satay. The server comes back after 5 minuts to tell us they have no spring rolls. WTF? You're open for business and you have no spring rolls?Fine. So we substituted egg rolls. They were ok, nice and greasy. The chicken satay tasted too much like curry powder and was chewy...like they dipped 'em in a bottle of McCormick curry powder and fried em up. Pass on the satay. I was disappointed in the bubble tea. I wanted a fresh fruit freeze (canteloupe) with tapioca. Again, the server returns ten minutes later to tell us we can't have the freeze with tapioca, only the few flavors listed under tapioca drinks. Ok, we'll get honeydew instead. Bad choice. The ice was too chunky, needed a few more spins int he blender. Artifical honeydew bubble tea mix. The unforgivable sin of hard tapioca balls. Another major disappointment was the thermostat...it was effin freezing in the place. Q-Cafehad no air conditioning, this place has no heat! There was a portable radiator across from our table but didn't put out enough warmth to be noticeable. If this place doesn't fail, I may be back when they work the bugs out.

Much like the first reviewer, I was really excited to see this place open as well. The food is decent: decent portions, decently spicy, served hot, and relatively quickly. It was good, but nothing knocked my socks off. The service needs some help, though - there were many take out orders, but when people walked in to pick them up, they were largely IGNORED by the people behind the counter. If I had a take out order, this would make me very angry because I really don't like being ignored. Also, the servers (there were two) seemed overwhelmed by taking care of the customers that were dining in. (Approximately, 3 of the 8 tables were filled.) I'm going to give Oishii Thai another chance before I write it off. There are SO MANY Thai places in the area that do have good service. If the service isn't better the next time I go, I can make the trek down Milwaukee and go to Green Basil. The extra 5 minutes that it will take to get to Vernon Hills is well worth it for the amazing food and service.

Another Saturday lunch and a totally different experience: The lunch boxes were no longer available on weekends which was fine with us. We ended up ordering 2 maki rolls: spider and rainbow and a spicy basil seafood dish with rice. The makis were literally the worst rolls we had in a long time if not ever: the crab in the spider roll was overfried and tastied "fishy" and had an enormous proportion of rice in the roll. For the rainbow roll, well there was no rainbow since the pieces of fish were so small you could't see them. The spicy basil seafood dish was really nothing special either, a few pieces of frozen seafood blend stirfried with some vegetables, a few basil leaves and some chili that overpowered the dish and almost covered the "fishy" flavor. Bottomline, a disappointed second experience here where we ended up paying over $50 for 2 for a Saturday lunch for really miserable food. Not to be repeated.
