Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

How can a taco joint not have guacamole?? The tacos here are decent, nothing special but not bad. The service is also fine. Nothing really memorable here though. I would much rather drive a bit more to get some chips and guacamole.

Stopped here on my way to Galloping Ghost from the city. Never been to Brookfield, but wanted a taco before gaming and this was the first taqueria I saw off the freeway. I should have driven a little further. This place is a dump. And yet it's huge. There's one chef and a ton of kitchen appliances that don't seem to be in use, except maybe the griddle and the microwave. The chips are worse than not complimentary- they don't exist. What taqueria doesn't have chips? Taco trucks have chips. I would have gladly paid for an order. They keep their menu simple- which is fine. Most Mexican food is just a few ingredients served in a few creator ways, but if all they're slinging is tacos and quesadillas, why not have al pastor on the menu? I ordered 1 steak taco and one Chile Relleno taco. My usual go-to's. The steak was dry and the Chile Relleno was all dough - there was barely a trace of pepper inside it. There was a cool looking taqueria across the street from Galloping Ghost. I'll be sure to check it out next time.

Good food especially the carne asada and the barbacoa, the price are good, a good place to eat

This place has closed down. Just confirmed last night for myself. Now Tonys Mexican Cafe on Ogden just west of Ist Ave is the place for Tacos & Burritos

Awesome food, their steak is charcoal grilled, and has great flavor. I usually go with a Steak Burrito, or a few steak tacos, and I've never been disappointed.

This place is a fricken joke what I mean is it's dirty sloppy unclean unsafe the mens bathroom don't even have a toilet seat how does this place pass inspection looks like the city don't even do their job then when I ordered the BBQ tacos its 60 percent fat and then they take the tortillas and put them in a microwave I've also noticed that they take the old BBQ out of the fridgerator that's probably a couple weeks old and heated up in the microwave this isn't the right Mexican restaurant there better off closing their doors and it's very very expensive for the small amount of food they give you and then they give you an attitude because you don't like how much they charge for a small taco. It's ridiculous ,me and my friend just walked out of there and we told them to take the taco and shove it you know where

This particular Las Asadas location is awkward and boring. Every time I stop in, there's no other customers, and the employees seem aghast that somebody came in and is about to order something. I compare this location to having a houseguest that uses that odd second light in your bathroom that you never use. They leave it on, and you walk in and say to yourself "what the fu*k? This is weird." The interior is not very warm or inviting. It looks as if they moved into a vacant building that used to be a Wendy's, and never bothered to remodel to break away from the burger chain restaurant appearance. The kookiness doesn't leave me wanting to dine in. Ever. They still make good steak. Two stars for them doing the thing that is the point of the place.

I've been coming here for quite a few years now. So good. The steak burritos are the best! Always my number one choice.

This place never fails to satisfy! They make a huge super burrito and it is delicious! Just wish they served chips and salsa but the burrito makes it worth the trip!

Came here with a few coworkers. Ordered a super burrito de pollo...in terms of size, what they gave me is a weak, Tuesday burrito. I murdered it and could have easily smashed another, to show off my skills. The chicken was fresh, seasoned and grilled up, right there. The flavor was authentic and very good. Prep time was a little long, but not a big deal. They don't have rice water, which is a FAIL. But overall, everything else was legit. Atmosphere was "get in and get out," which is the way I like it. Suck my ass TBK. I'd recommend stopping in.

Being from Buck town, my dad took me to the original place where this recipe was perfected at La Pasadita. Since the main cook branched off and opened Las Asadas, I realized he was the reason for the success. When I found this place in Brookfield, it put a smile on my face. I've scoured the city and suburbs many times to try and find a place that prepares the carne asada the way Las Asadas does it and no one comes close. Zacatacos might be the closest, but that's about it. I've had most of the things on their menu and to my recollection, everything has been good. Love their tacos de carne asada and the burritos. Their green sauce is what makes the food taste that much better. The horchata is also very good; a good balance between the sugar, cinnamon and rice. The place is short-staffed but they always take care of me when they see me come in or see my Army buddies come in with me. I agree with some people, "where's the guacamole" but take it for what it is.... a taco and burrito joint with great food at reasonable prices!

Onions + cilantro + steak + corn tortilla = A decent taco. The tacos are a little overpriced, but there is hardly any wait in line and the food is prepared quickly. The green/salsa sauce is a good compliment to the tacos and other food items. I have been coming here for over 5 years now. I give this place credit for taking over the spot where Bambino's used to be back in the good Brookfield days.

Okay, this Taqueria is definetely a winner =)! I've been to Las Asada's in Brookfield a good 3 times and have never once been disappointed. I tried a steak torta today and it exceeded my expectations =)! I'm really happy, I finally found an authentic taco joint near my job. The steak is char-grilled and well seasoned. Las Asada's reminded me of my favorite Taqueria Paco's Taco's on the South side. Thankfully, I don't have to commute far for great tasting Mexican food anymore. The only con is that it's a little over-priced, but well worth the extra charge. For that reason, I rated it 4 stars. Otherwise, I recommend Las Asada's to anyone looking for great quality authentic steak taco's or Torta's =)!

The Biggest of the Asada's joints that ive seen so far and by far the most lonely (huge space, one cook, one waitress I can only imagine what it's like on a lunch rush! I was here during the weekend) Food/Restaurant: Pros and Cons Pros: 1. Good Quality steak tacos, well seasoned, nicely charred and excellent Lengua(beef tongue) tacos. 2. Excellent and Spicy Salsas 3.Greasy tortillas and then some but that's good man! Cons: 1.The Dinner plates are overpriced and have low portions 2. Lackluster service 3. BAD BURRITOS Compared to the other Asadas joints in and around the city this place as I mentioned is HUGE it looks like a former pizza place converted to a taqueria which is fine but sadly unlike its smaller shaped brethren also cannot make the necessary adjustments to justify its larger space. For one, the service should reflect it's space! As most of you may or may not know, at the other and much smaller Asadas taco spots it is expected that you get your own food at the counter (DINER STYLE!!!!! YEAH MAN!!!) because the small space entails that you can get your own food when it's done along with the necessary utensils such as forks, knives, and paper towels/napkins etc and then leave the stuff at the counter when you are done. However in a location this big I expected the service to be more attentive and more in line with traditional taquerias considering there where only three or four other diners eating there at the time of my visit! This is not an example of a laziness on my part or their part (since it's the philosophy of the other Asadas taco joints) but a reflection that this Asadas location needs to improve it's overall service in order to justify its much larger space that it currently inhabits. The food is as good as you can expect at an Asadas, on my visit the Carne Asada was well seasoned and delicious, the lengua? delicious and nice and soft and when you combine all that with some well made and spicy salsas it really hit the spot. There were no free chips but I am comfortable with that considering that the whole chips and salsa business is tex mex idea anyway so while having chips and salsa is nice it's not a deal breaker considering that the places that I have eaten in all over Mexico never offered me any and Ive never complained because they don't do that over there:) The downside to everything is of course the Dinner plates and Burritos. They are both lacking in meat and size and are overpriced disappointments! The even bigger failure of course is the "Super/Giant Steak Burrito" which is about 10 percent steak, 70 percent rice, and 20 percent beans and other vegetables. Overall I would return as this spot is always open at good hours and the food is very good minus the obvious disappointments in service among others but regardless they are solid so give them a visit but keep your expectations at a realistic level otherwise go to the smaller locations all over the city. FUN TIP: Try ordering the Giant Steak Burrito with no Rice nor Beans and watch the cooks eyes light up;) OK let's be civil here..................................... Take care all now please have a taco or two you deserve it.

I live about 3 blocks from Las Asadas and I'm a fan. The only thing I order is the steak burrito so I can't comment on any of the other offerings. I absolutely love it. Size is perfect, great flavor, fresh cilantro, grilled steak, and cheese wrapped in a 14" flour tortilla. You get a side of Salsa Verde to pour on, over, or in. That my friends is what Alton Brown would call "Good Eats."

We were lucky enough to live by the Las Asadas on Western when we lived in the city. It was pretty much a weekly stop for a fix. Needless to say, I was ecstatic when we made the move to the burbs and I found the Las Asadas on Ogden. My review lies solely on their carne asada tacos as that's the only thing I've ordered at either location. Unfortunately, my timing seems to be off as I rarely catch the fresh steak off the grill. I always get what is sitting in lard, warming in the pan. This leads to a less charred-flavor and more of a diluted, almost fatty flavor. While pretty good, it just isn't the extreme bliss that comes with the fresh carne asada. This is definitely a low-key taqueria. Don't go expecting combination plates and queso fundido. Go if you're looking for an authentic carne asada taco fix and I hope that you catch the meat right off the grill because it's divine.

I really liked this place. Good burritos, tacos, and ...yum...orchata! Friendly staff, reasonable prices.

I've only had one meal I wasn't crazy about here. Their carne asada tacos are always delicious, as is their rice. Plenty of parking and very close to home. My only complaint.....they close too early!
(4)Patrick S.
The veggie burrito is awesome and I can't get the grean sauce out of my head. I work very close and will sometimes hit this place up two or three times a week. The staff is friendly and has fast service. The only other place that has Mexican food like this is on Ashland and Division, La Pasadita. I love this place and will continue to gorge myself.

My experience was better than everyone else's, largely because I stuck with the burrito. A buddy of mine follows lthforum.com very closely (a Chicago area sort-of-foodie forum - it's good) and he heard about Las Asadas there. The advice on the forum? Stick with the steak burrito - one of the best around quality- and taste-wise. So, I got the Super Burrito, steak, avocado, rice, lettuce, tomato, onions, etc. It was great and at $6.50 a bargain (I'm used to getting not as good burritos for $7 or $8 downtown though). I sampled the regular Steak Burrito of my friend. It's got onion and cilantro and hot sauce on it and it was great as well. Next time that's what I'll get. Not sure why some think $4.85 for that burrito is not a bargain, because I sure think it is. So, stick with the steak burrito and prepare to be impressed with the grilled steak taste on the first and all the other bites. Yummy.

Well I had a better experience than Cassie. I'd giove it 3.5 stars if half stars were allowed. After reading her review I'm glad I didn't try the torta I was contemplating on. They have a small menu of basic Mexican fast food. I had a burrito. It was quite tasty, but you can get bigger for the price. Try the steak burrito with everything in it. But be warned, there is cilantro in it. It sure isn't Ino's, but a decent variation for times you need a burrito fix and cannot take on the sheer massive volume of Ino's burrito goodness. It also isn't open nearly as late as Ino's (like 8pm I think is the close time).

This used the be the burrito of the Gods, new management has destroyed the dream. Huge burritos, best meat ever, now they make them the same but they omit ingredients on regular burritos forcing u to pay extra for cheese and sour cream, 50 cents each to be exact, otherwise your burrito will only have meat and onions. The burritos are 1/3 the size they used to be, and the price has gone up to 6.75$ from 5.75$ (none of these price changes are posted in the stores)...and the new lady that works at the Brookfield location is a wretched BE-OTCH. The final straw is paying for extra ingredients and receiving less than was the standard before, this is terrible business and completely ignorant to loyal customers. Btw, salsa sides are now watered down and about 2 tbsp. full. I actually started going to the Pulaski and 47th st. location in hopes they weren't tarnished by the new management, but alas they are tarnished. I have been coming here since they opened at least 3 times and week and referred many customers, but my disappointment is so great i will no longer be patronizing Las Asadas.

This is tough. Their steak is so damn good, and in a burrito, it's almost divine, but their tacos are pretty terrible due to microwaved, rubbery tortillas. It'd be nice to see additional sides offered (guacamole perhaps?) but in general, burritos are good, tacos bleh.

I have been to Las Asadas several times and will continue to be back. I'm so happy a great place like this is so close to my house. The staff is always friendly and the food is always made to order while you wait. I cannot resist the lengua tacos. I always let people try them and they are surprised when they find out its beef tongue. You can find a better lengua taco out there, but not in Brookfield. I highly recommend.

burrito and quesdailla (which was more like a cheese taco, weird) were okay. my torta was not. the ingredients were fine, but the bun was terrible - much too soft - and so by the time we got back to the house 5 minutes later it was a soggy mess. i ended up taking three bites and eating the filling out. =( and i love tortas
