Our friend swore this place was amazing, so we obliged when the time was right. Walking in was okay, kinda sit wherever you want. Warm chicharrones (omg, this was the BEST part of our visit!) & salsas & the server greeted us immediately, the server asking if we knew what we wanted. . "Margarita?! " Flew outta my mouth (obviously lol) .. um nope they don't serve those. Bummer, but the do have modelo, pacifico, corona and horchata (if you're going Shirley temple style). So, I ordered three tacos.. 1 pastor and 2 asada with sour cream on the side. After I finished my first taco with sour cream all over, I noticed my sour cream had a rather long black hair in it! (My hair is short & definitely not black!) I was pretty grossed out and couldn't finish my other two tacos (specifically because there was sour cream on them). When I told the server, she took the sour cream and asked if I wanted another one. I told her I was through and she could take my plate. At the register, we asked if they were going to comp any of my food..especially because I ate one of three tacos. Yep, they did hahahaha... she comp'd my sour cream! Seriously lady?! Thanks. Welp, I won't be back!

I have been to several of the Los Comales restaurants throughout the area, but favorite is still the one in East Chicago, IN. Was in the area today so I tried this location. This location seems to work a little bit different than the others. While sitting in the car, I was reading some of the other reviews before entering to see what it was going to be like. Like the others, you pick out your own table and plant yourself. The waitress came over with some bowls of stuff, limes, peppers and carrots, and some green stuff that looked like smooth guacamole. But no chips were served up. Placed my order and off she went, brought back my soft drink. The one that was supposed to have no ice! She comes back with one plate, my one taco. Tacos here as the others are served Mexican style. They are very small with only cilantro and onions added. The taco was very tasty and fresh. Half way through the waitress brings out everything else at once. A basket of chips, the burrito, pork rinds, and salsa. It looked like a fiesta at my table. The burrito had come fully loaded with the usual toppings even sour cream and guacamole. Now the things that are different here are, that they serve green and red chips. I don't know Xmas chips? The other locations usually have a big plastic container on the table full of peppers and carrots, this place it came in a little bowl. There was plenty in the bowl to eat during the meal. I mentioned the so called looking smooth guacamole, beware this stuff backs a punch. It has a bit of a time delay, before the hot peppers in it come out of hibernation and start to burn. Good but hot. Over all I would say that the staff was friendly and attentive. Food was well prepared and tasty. The only thing that I would knock them on was the cleanliness of the floors and tables. My table had a bunch of napkins and straw wrappers around the booth area.

By far the best Mexican food, not only in the area, but in Chicago-land. All of their restaurants are a bit different, each original in its own way. This one is my favorite by far. The food is ALWAYS fresh and tasty, and their drinks are always delicious. I recommend their fajitas, tacos, and their amazing beans and rice. Their Horchata is seriously amazing. The family who owns is is always there, ensuring your experience to be great. I highly recommend stopping in, ordering to go, or even going through their drive-through. Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner... You won't regret it!

Checked them out few weeks ago, ordered steak burrito dinner, beans and rice were great, the steak was burnt to a crisp, service was lacking as well waitress disappeared after food was brought never to be seen again. Glasses of water remained empty for most of the dinner. Prices were high for the low qualify of food and service, I wouldn't go back.

By far... The worst service ever! Only here because Zacatacos is closed tonight... We walked in, sat down, and it was 10 min before we were even acknowledged... Didn't get greeted or anything, the waitress didn't say a word, just placed the menus on the table. Finally 15 minutes after being here she asked if we wanted to start with our drinks... I told her we were ready to order. Placed our order ... let's see how long before we eat.... Waiting... Waiting... Waiting... Ok Food came pretty quick after we ordered... However only partial order... Still waiting on half the order .... Eeww! The worst horchata I've ever had! Ok now 3/4 of the food is here... Still waiting for the rest of the food... Okay so after being here for almost 30 min.... We now get to eat. Also we had to wipe our own table down and help ourselves to some condiments. We were not asked one single time if we needed anything and/or if everything was ok.

It's 5 times now that our family orders from here to go (and I will admit by strike 3 it's our fault to not check every single order with open bag and why we keep going back to this incompetent location?) and the order is obviously wrong. I grew up on comales and when I go there I know not to expect excellent waiting or exquisite food, but something has to happen with this particular location on Harlem at least the take out staff It seems a lot of miscommunication is happening there. Great Mexican food! Their tacos are really good. I usually go through the drive thru (never been inside) and order the chicken or steak tacos. Both are extra good. I do however like the steak more. They give A LOT of pickles and sauce which is awesome (unless you don't like the pickles of course!) I have yet to go inside but from what I've seen from just taking a peek, it looks like it has great ambience.

Good food and good service. I read the other reviews and I have to say that if you go off them you might be inclined to stay away. Well I tell you to do like I did and make up your own mind. My experience was great. Portions where good and the taste was also. For a place with so many less than favorable reviews it is always busy. Like I said come in sit down and you be the judge.

Took 10 minutes to even get started before they noticed we "werent with" some random old guy and his son a couple chairs away. Therefore we didnt get the chips and salsa prior to ordering. After finally ordering, my food came. For my girlfriend this was not the case, she only received half her order. We were fed up so she insisted we just eat what we did get and leave.

This is the best comales in the city and I have been to all of them. (Tons of drunken nights and hungover mornings) The decor in this one is modern and the place is very clean. We have never had an issue here. The food is always fresh, the give you a ton of things to snack on while you wait and the service is fast. Every woman in here that will take your order has a smile on her face. They are so nice to deal with. Even the pozole and breakfast here is great. You can't go wrong with comales.

Hit it up on the way home from a Chicago Fire game at Toyota Park. I never would have stopped in there, but was convinced by a friend. The food is some of the best Mexican I've had in the suburbs. Our server was professional and fantastic, taking everyone's order specifications, which considering we had 6 people, including a vegetarian and a vegan, wasn't easy. I had the taco dinner, one with steak, one with chicken, and one with pork and onions. It comes with refried beans and Spanish rice. All in all, it came to less than 10 bucks with tip. What a steal! The cilantro in the tacos gives it a crisp, spicy taste. The complimentary chips and salsa were delicious as well. We got two kinds of salsa. Warning! The green salsa is mild, and good for people of all taste buds, but the red salsa has a bit of a pop to it. Both are delicious, with the red salsa probably being the best I've had in the Chicago area. I will definitely be hitting this place up again after future Fire games.

I'm going to give it to you straight folks, Los Comales is a pretty average chain of Mexican Taquerias but very passable for a great one at times. I can't say I've been here that many times during the day hours but since many of them are open very late, this can be the perfect place to fix any appetite that you come bringing to it's front doors. If you ever go in, the waitresses have a ridiculous amount of eyeliner and makeup on that can sometimes make you question whether or not you're actually in a taqueria or at a circus (Sorry for the personal jab). Being a big fan of well made tripe tacos, they do a poor job of making it live up to it's full potential. It can be a little too tough at times but almost everything else on the menu is pretty solid. I can't say I wouldn't recommend the place if you want a quick bite to eat since they do provide great service overall that is fast and convenient. It is a little bit pricey for the small tacos that they give you but I generally use the extra tortilla they give you on each taco and create extras in case I'm still hungry (write that tip down!). My favorite thing to get there and I actually like it better than in most other places, would be the milanesa torta. Totally incredible and is a heck of a sandwich. I'm always full after having one of these bad boys! You can obviously get different types of tortas with other kinds of meats but I just enjoy the milanesa the best. So grab a friend and Check It Out!!! -Papa Bear

So I ordered a tripe taco dinner the other day. I asked for it to be crisp. I was pretty clear that I wanted it to be crisp and tripe. What I got when I get home was tongue. I can live with tongue - in fact I order tongue from time to time. Typically when you order tongue - it is diced and fried. This tongue was not chopped or diced. I was filleted so it was actually an entire slab of tongue - muscles and all - with onion and cilantro. It wasn't bad but it was odd and it wasn't tripe.

The service is horrible the waitresses are incompetent they always get the orders wrong especially thru the drive thru. If you complain they act like its your fault because its so busy, the manager/owner is an ignorant fool who knows 0 about customer service. Unfortunately not to many choices in the area for Mexican food which Is why people keep going back but enough is enough I guess it's time to find a place where they know how to treat customers.

Comales now has many locations thoughout Chicagoland and this is one of them. Comales serves up consistent standard Taqueria fare with speedy service. Happily Drunk + Mess of Tacos + Salsa = More Happiness! Thanks, Comales!!!

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
