I love a good buttermilk biscuit, and some fried chicken! Who doesn't? Tie that in with some gravy & mashed potatoes and I'm set. (All set to go to planet fitness that's right down the road to burn off the meal) lol I tell ya, that's something cruel to be walking out of the gym and smelling that fried food goodness. All about will power. Haha. Coleslaw is pretty good here nice and tangy. But to each their own on the other options for sides. As long as they get my order right and my food is piping hot then I have no complaints here. And if I'm craving popeyes then beware because I don't mind causing a traffic jam for some fried chicken! ;-)

The only time I tried Popeyes was somewhere near my work and I was unimpressed. I've been avoiding this particular location partially due to that experience and also because the first few weeks it was open, people were blocking Kennedy Drive just to get in. I've been holding out, although it's not their fault that some people don't have common sense. I'm glad I finally tried it. My mom + sister come here weekly because of their Tuesday special. I believe it's $3.99 for a drink, biscuit, a side and 2 pieces of chicken (don't quote me on that.) I went for the new cajun fish, which was a similar combo but offered 3 pieces of fish for 5.99 with the aforementioned sides. The girl working the counter was really friendly and helpful in making recommendations or answering questions about the menu. 5 stars for her. My side of the mac and cheese was surprisingly really good, but still not as good as KFC's version. I stole a few of my sister's seasoned fries and thought those were the best side I've tried so far from Popeyes. The biscuit was delicious and so was my fish. My sister got the chicken strips, so I stole a few bites and was disappointed that my fish and her chicken strips tasted really similar. Next time I'd just opt for the chicken since it's a lot cheaper. The dining room wasn't overly clean and we struggled to find seats for the 6 of us that came. We ended up having to sit at 2 different tables and cleaning them down a little bit with a napkin. I did see someone sweeping and wiping down the tables as we were leaving. Overall, I thought their food was an improvement from the other location that I visited. I would come back here again but it probably won't be the first thing on my mind.

I can't remember the last time I visited a Popeyes. But I was in SKankakee and there are not a lot of choices if you value your life. I got the 6, which came with three chicken fingers, a side and soda. I had to wait for 3 minutes. (That was the going rate for anything that was ordered) They were supposed to be spicy, but had little flavor. I saw they were coated in red when I bit into them. But they left me wanting more hot! The ranch was very tasty and they were crunchy as hell. The slaw was good also. The place was spotless as was the service. I am partial to the K word, but this location did a bang up job.

Chick, chick, chicken! Yes, it is the usual chain affair. Except that this location has a few problems. Napkins were completely empty when we arrived and throughout our visit. The one iced tea container was literally on "empty". And the choice to let two employees go to break as you have nine people walk into your restaurant did not help! We waited and waited in line. Yes, the order was correct. Yes, the food was hot. If you enjoyed popcorn shrimp at other Popeye's, don't count on them here. Butterfly shrimp is all you will get. This is one of the places that I can take or leave. The fact that everything seemed to be haphazardly handled in the middle of the evening service seemed strange. Expect more. Try it or drive by.

I only use the drive thru. The problem with that is a longer wait time for your food. This is typical of all the Popeyes drive thru I have been to. Popeyes is also notorious for rude/impatient staff. They have since improved this. The best items are the blackened offerings and biscuits. My kids love the tenders. The 9 pc nuggets are more like a handful of popcorn chicken!
