Excellent sandwiches, fine service, and friendly local owners. Blows Subway out of the water six days a week since it is closed Sunday. Support your local businesses and patronize this deli.

Don't drive too fast or you will pass this little place. If you have ever been to a restaurant where you felt welcome and that the employees actually cared if you enjoyed your experience and returned...then this is such a place too. This is a New York style deli serving Boar's Head products. Except for the lettuce, everything is sliced after you order. These guys are taking freshness to the right level. The deli is occupying the space of a former Christian book store. The space is bright and inviting. A flat screen tv shows interesting programming. On the downside, tables occupy only half of the front side of the deli. From the looks of the line, I can see more tables are needed. The assortment of chips and sandwiches are expansive. Even dill potato chips are available. Potato salad, macaroni salad, and cole slaw are available. The cole slaw must be good, because I ordered it today and they were out :(. When ordering, you will find that these guys are serious and hard working. I like them and their suggestions. Don't let the expansive menu scare you. They are ready to help. I found it to be a bit loud in the deli mainly due to the flooring. The ice tea comes in a bottle or a a fountain version. i had the sweet fountain tea. it was just okay. The taste was more instant thanN like freshly brewed Lipton. So I am not a fan of the tea. All in all, this is a great new addition to the area. Give them and try and keep visiting. You have a healthy choice, or you can splurge on the desserts delivered from Chicago Heights! This deli is a "keeper"!

Holy crap! Some of the best sandwiches I've had. If you're looking for a really good sandwich check this place out but better be hungry they give ya your money's worth.

As you pull into the parking lot(which honestly is the only downfall), you find this small sandwich shop. You walk in and you are greeted right away with a hello and a smile. I like that the owner remembers your regular order and your name. The Classic Club sandwich is huge! The avocado and bread is fresh. The chips are a larger bag than you normally would get and there is a HUGE variety. Definitely worth it.

I've had some amazing NY style deli in my time and this place is legit! Shaddy made me one of the best turkey-pastrami ruebens I have ever had the pleasure of eating! The service was friendly and accommodating; I felt at home from the second I walked through the door. If only they had a shop my home town! An easy 5 stars!

These sandwichs are out of this world, im almost done trying every meat they carry and cheeses none have failed me. Very affordable and a guaranteed smile when leaving. Definetly will be coming back

After driving past this place for months my husband & I decided to try it- We were NOT disappointed!! I got a Classic Club and my husband got the Smoked Brisket sandwiches. Plenty of meat & toppings, the bread was fresh & service was great. I have to say my husbands Smoked Brisket was delicious!! That's what I will be ordering that next time we go there. I also bought a piece of Cannoli cake- AMAZING!! Every bite literally melted in my mouth. The only thing that I wish we could have done was eat inside the establishment but we got there just before closing time. Overall we had a great experience and I would recommend this place.

Their sandwiches are pretty good ... Piled high with meat. But surprisingly they don't have many veggies options to add to the sandwich, nor do they have a gluten free option.

A true New York deli! Tons of fresh meats and yummy cheeses! The sandwiches were incredible and the staff was very friendly (even to a southern belle)! The smoked Gouda is a must. Our only complaint is that there were not enough tables for our family. We had to take our sandwiches to go.

Wow!!! Stopped in for lunch. 1st time. Very nice service. Great sandwiches and soup. Great variety. Will return for sure!

For the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would give this place 5 stars, or even 4 or 3. Yes, they have Boar's Head meats and cheeses. I can buy those at the grocery and make a much better sandwich! I ordered the Rueben and while we waited, my husband said, "I think they just put your sandwich in the microwave." Seriously? A Rueben is grilled and browned on the griddle or in a pan...NEVER microwaved! But, sure enough, it came microwaved so that the bread was almost gooey, sticking in my teeth. And the Thousand Island dressing was overly sweet and clearly straight out of a bottle. My husband ordered the Italian sub cold (thankfully). The meats and cheeses were fresh and plentiful but overall the sandwich was just mediocre. Don't waste your time at this place. If you want a decent sandwich, go find a Jersey Mike's.

Being a student at the local college I am always searching for a great place to eat off campus! The only shame is now that I found New York Deli , I can't go anywhere else!! From the moment you walk in the staff is very friendly and helpful! Once it's time to order they have a second to none choice of meats, cheeses and breads.. and don't forget the large variety of chips they offer as well! The sandwiches taste amazing ( I recommend the signature "big new yorker"! So if you are in the area and you haven't been here, please do you won't regret it

This place is amazing! The food is always fresh the people are always nice! I don't live in Bourbonnais but I caught my fat ass driving all the way from Chicago to grab a few sandwiches! This place will put jimmy johns and subway out of Bussiness!!
(5)Brian B.
I'm a sandwich guy and I understand that I may grade on a harder scale than most when it comes to delis. I have also lived and spent time in major cities giving me the luxury of comparisons. I would say the ingredients are pretty good. Nothing that you couldn't find at a good grocer, Kroger for example. I don't care for the bread though, and that ingredient is what separates a deli sandwich from a homemade sandwich. Better than Subway or Jimmy John's but nothing you couldn't do better yourself at home.
(3)Tamera G.
From the time you walk in the staff is super friendly! I have tried numerous sandwhiches and each one is so good! I now order whatever the special is. Each time I am impressed! Fresh, yummy, and quick!!!! Great place for an awesome sandwhich!
(5)Andrew P.
Talk about a wonderful place to get a sandwich! Every single sandwich I have ever had here is absolutely amazing. Not only the food but the staff is extremely nice and sociable. The owners wants to remember everyone that walks in to give it that special small town deli feel. In summary if you want to get a good sandwich in the Bourbonnais area come here! You will not be disappointed with the freshness and the quality of the Boars head meat!
(5)Kevin P.
Great sandwiches - awesome customer service. Refreshing to have a classic family deli here in Kankakee county. My fave is a pastrami on rye. Also great soup and pasta salads. Check them out.
(5)Maickon C.
What a great place. So glad they came to our area. The staff is friendly. The food is always great offering a variety of sandwiches. They serve Boar's Head meats. The place looks good inside too, even though I generally get my sandwich to go. A must try if you haven't been yet. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Matthew S.
This place is a small deli with limited seating that serves up some of the most delicious deli sandwiches we have ever had.
(5)Ken S.
I'm back! I love NYC Deli! Some places get reviews that are good and they should get a three or two. The reviews from everyone are true testimonies. This place is the best!
(5)Matthew G.
Good sandwiches! Quality Boar's Head meat with fresh veggies/cheese. I've been back multiple times. If your willing to spend a bit more that subway, it's worth it!
(4)Elizabeth G.
OK been here twice now and it is just so so good. Great classic sandwiches! The sandwiches are made with Boar's Head deli meats which is clearly a superior deli meat. The first time I had the Club sandwich with turkey, bacon, and avocado. The sandwiches come with a standard lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, your choice of cheese, and mustard and mayo; but you can customize your order however you please. Today I had the Italian Submarine. Very, very tasty. I will definitely be coming here again for lunch. Can't eat here too often however, because I always end up eating the entire sandwich - that is A LOT of food. haha

In town for Bears Training Camp and we're hungry... This joint deserves five stars... every single one of them. My son got the Big New Yorker regular size... he couldn't finish it. He's a huge eater. I got the Classic Club regular size... I couldn't finish it. I'm a huge eater My husband got the Spicy Special #1 super size... he finished it BUT it was THAT good. The staff is so kind and helpful. The bathroom is clean. I cannot wait to go back.

I went to New York City once my freshman year in college. Sadly, back then I had very limited funds and was more interested in scoring some deals on shoes than on food. I actually ate off the dollar menu at the Times Square Mcdonald's 95% of my meals there (shocking, right) and didn't even experience any of the fantastic culinary options that the city has to offer. Of course, here I sit a few years later kicking myself. Those shoes that I "had to have" are long gone and I have no real NY deli experience to speak of. But let's be frank here, you don't need an experience at an authentic NY deli to tell that these sandwiches are freaking amazing. They are stacked high with generous amounts of Boar's Head meats and cheeses. I went with the NY special on rye and it had roast beef, turkey and cheese, as well as my choice of toppings and condiments. I was also given a choice of hot or cold, but when given the choice, my answer is always hot. The sandwich was huge and could barely fit in my small mouth, but the awkward situation in trying to eat it was completely worth it. The service was also (surprisingly) amazing. They were super duper busy, so I expected the service to stumble a little in correlation to the size of the crowd. It wasn't like that at all. The girl that waited on us was patient when we didn't know what to order and even made a few recommendations. The $$ is more than your standard sandwich shop i.e. Subway, but the portions are also generous. I ate half for lunch, then the other half on the train later that day.

This place is a hidden jewel in the area. I did not know what to get and got a recommendation from the very friendly staff to try the Big New Yorker. The sandwich justified the name. This was piled high with meats and condiments. I have never tried Boars Head meat but have always heard good things about the quality of the meat and New York Deli did not fail at all. The veggies were fresh and crisp. The meats were not dry at all and the surprisingly the bread held it all together. I am an avocado fan so I also added that and it was the perfect compliment to the savory meat. Along with a bag of salt and vinegar chips a fresh made to order smoothie and this was the best meal I have had in recent memory. The employee was also nice enough to give me a free peanut butter cupcake which was the cherry on top of this perfect lunch. If you want a great meal this is the place to go. It didn't even cost me an arm and a leg.
(5)Amanda C.
Great food! Have ate here many of times. You get a very large sandwich for the price. Way better then any of the chain restaurant for a sandwich. You will be impressed.
(5)Bill S.
Best sandwiches around here, definitely made me not want subway or jimmy johns anymore. They always have pretty good deals to, about the same price as subway except instead of getting barely any lunch meat that is not that good you get good quality meat and a good amount
(4)Jess M.
Always a good experience, the staff is really nice and the owner makes you feel like family, always a plus to that great vibe. The sandwiches are delicious, always fresh and generous amounts of meat love this place

I work in Bourbonnais on occasion and my coworkers have had nothing but amazing things to say about NYC deli! I love supporting local, small businesses so I thought I would give it a try! I stopped by after work one day to pick up dinner, my husband loves sandwiches and I knew he would want to try out somewhere new! He ordered the Cajun #2 and I got the classic club, both on wheat hoagies. They were AMAZING! Very fresh tasting and packed with flavor! You can taste the freshness in the ingredients! They also deliver to our office which is very convenient! Will definitely return to try more sandwiches!!
(5)Angie M.
This place is the best!! Come here all the time with my hubby and have NEVER had a bad experience. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. Sandwichs made fresh and they are huge!! If your looking for great food come here!!
(5)Jules H.
Delighted with the turkey, swiss, lettuce, mayo, mustard on nice grainy wheat bread I had. Everything was super fresh, and with quick polite service. Very unassuming looking place, nice, but small dining area if you choose to dine there. They have every meat, cheese, toppings, condiments, and breads your unabashed sandwich coveting self could ever hope for. Loved every bit of my sammie except for the shredded lettuce and shredded turkey. It was tasty, but I like my sandwiches with flat evenly shaped pieces of meat, cheese, and lettuce. Call me picky, call me OCD, just don't shred on me.
(4)Matt W.
I got the hot turkey pastrami sandwich and my mother got roast beef they were load with meat the sandwiches were very good the person who served us were friendly.and the place was clean.we also got the New York black and white cookie.they were good too.only thing was the were running out of soda for soda machine. I am recommend this place to very one who likes fresh sandwiches.
(5)Meemee D.
Great sandwiches. Unique selection of chips. Boars head cold cuts that are cheaper than the grocery store. Really nice people working there. And that pastrami Reuben! Oh my god yawl.
(4)James M.
All the sandwiches were made with fresh ingredients. Big portions on just the regular size. I will come back again.
(5)Diane H.
My first time visiting the deli today. We decided to go there for lunch. The menu board was a bit confusing to me, the to go menu was easier to read. I ordered the hard salami on a hard roll with muenster cheese. It was delicious! It came out to be around $10 for a sandwich, chips and a fountain drink. The sandwich was decent sized and I was able to get two meals out of it. The chips were also a bigger bag than you would typically think would be avail. The girl that took our order was friendly and the food preps were speedy. The only down-fall is that it is in a small building next to a convenient store. The parking lot isreally tiny.
(5)Damian R.
I try not to be cavalier with 5-star reviews, but this place is the real deal. The formula here is very simple; super-premium quality sandwiches and over-the-top fast and friendly service. Beyond this, the prices are very reasonable. In summary, this is a local business that is clearly committed to the highest of quality. The corned-beef Reuben is outstanding, but truth be told, any of their Boar's Head meats and cheeses, sliced right in front of you at the time of your order, are likely to please. If you are in town for Bear's Training Camp, this place is a must.
(5)Zee B.
I love their sandwiches, they are polite and make the sandwiches with love even tho you can get boars head meat, their bread and they way they make the sandwiches are great and I go there wen I don't feel like making my own even tho it may sound silly.
(5)Krystle M.
Delicious! The owner & his employees were very welcoming & truly care about your experience. They serve Boar's head meat & everything is very fresh! New york deli is a healthy choice for lunch or dinner in the Kankakee area for a great price. I would highly recommend.
(5)Paul E.
In my opinion, their "Big New Yorker" is flat out the best sandwich ever. Never disappointed. Friendly staff. Most importantly, the food experience is very CONSISTENT. The food keeps me coming back several times a week. I travel some for work and now that I have introduced this sandwich to some of the other locations I visit, I have to bring six or eight of these with me for everyone else. They are highly addictive.
(5)Jarvis H.
This place is fantastic. The best Reuben sandwich since I lived in Indianapolis and went to Shapiro's Deli. A true gem of Bourbonnais. Great fresh meats and breads. Great staff. Great price.
