I tend to work super late and Steak and Shake is the only place open besides the usual McDonald's. I would usually order a double steak burger in drive thru. The order taker is rude and staff walks around with headphones in ears. My sandwich is usually soaked in mustard, mayo, and ketchup. I have waited in drive thru for ten minutes.. when I'm the only one in line. My milkshakes tend to be wrong along with my orders. After bad experiences through drive thru, I decided to come inside. It took 15 minutes for someone to notice me standing there. Another 25 for a Frisco cheese melt. My melts are usually soaked in butter and the steak burgers are terribly under seasoned. Steak and Shake being my only option at midnight is the only reason I go back.

For fast food, everything is usually pretty hot. It takes a little bit longer because everything is cooked to order, but the drive through is surprisingly fast

Their food is good and they have good deals but every single time I come here the it takes them FOREVER to bring our food out and the service ladies are always sooooo grumpy and they look like they don't even want to work there!! Overall Food is good but terrible service

I've been to this location a couple times and didn't have too much of a problem, but my most recent experience there was pretty infuriating. Dropped by around 1 am with a group of 5 desperate for food. We walked in and waited by the "Please wait to be seated" sign as we watched a family of four get escorted to a table right away. We stood there for maybe 10 to 15 minutes while one of the staff casually walked past us numerous of times without taking notice of us. It wasn't even that busy. There were at most 4 or 5 different parties there and a couple dirty tables, but there were definitely open tables. Finally, the girl bussing pointed over to a table and said we could sit there. Didnt bother to walk us over. When we sat, i saw the family of 4 that was seated before us sitting at a table adjacent to ours. They just had their order taken by the waitress. Instead of the waitress coming over to check up on us, she walked right past us. We stay there for an ungodly amount of time without being spoken to by any of the staff members. I looked over to the back near the kitchen and saw the waitress and bus girl chatting away. It was around that time that we decided to get up and leave. I don't think I've ever been treated so poorly in any kind of restuarant.

This steak n shake is the bomb. Food is good and cheap. Ten times better then five guys and a better variety. It is always clean which is a plus. The staff isn't all that friendly...but then again they make crappy tips when the bill only comes to 15 dollars so I let it slide. The pepper burger is delish. I also recommend the nacho cheese burger...fat girls dream.

This is the worst location ive ever been to. My experience this past Monday was horrific. Everything was going okay when I placed the order. The cashier walked away and we waited for our food. Here comes this guy walking in and I swear he went straight to the grill. Did he wash his hands first or anything ? Didnt seem like it. His shirt was dingy and dirty . his apron was falling off of him, nothing on his head while he prepares food. He looked like someone just said.. Hey we short a person, you want to make some money? I was already disgusted with that part and pow, here is why I am really mad. I ordered two shakes, 2 burgers and a frisco melt. I was surprised when my shakes came out so fast and then soon after, I knew why. The cups were FILTHY. Sugar, milk and whatever else they had was on the cups, the shakes werent full like they should be and one was melted. What??? Are you kidding me? It took almost 10 minutes for someone to come and acknowledge me to complain. Finally some dintzy chick came and I informed her that my shakes are horrible. I pointed out the filth and even said, you guys didnt even give me a napkin to clean it myself. Then I said and look, its melted already. I didnt order chocolate milk. She looked at me as if she had seen a ghost. Finally she says.. Im not sure what you want me to do??? Whaaaaaat??? Ummm how about make me new shakes. Duh!!!! I even said, if you received an order like this, would you accept it? She says no. So I say to her, then I dont know what part of this conversation is confusing to you. She eventually took them and had someone make new ones. This has COMPLETELY turned me off. All the staff looking at me like I was the crazy one. I.wasn't yelling or anything but I was stern. Smh Horrible customer service, horrible food, horrible dressing workers. I WILL NEVER RETURN!!!

If I want a burger and Im not feeling Five Guys or a sit down resturaunt then Im going to SteakNShake. I personalky love their burgers. I love shooters especially. I know its a lil less quality n more grease but I just love SteakNShake.. Its really just the shooters... I want to try the pizza burger...The food is always hot n fresh.. pretty positive service at bbrook resturaunt.. I usually hit drive thru... They have good peiced options like MEALS UNDER 4 BONES... AAAAND I love options. They have Caribbean Jerk, Garlic, Pizza, Chipolte, Nacho, and many other burgers. I think I prefer slimmer carmelized burger with multiple patties over a thick beef patty.. I really enjoy Steak N Shake

I usually love steak n shake but we went to this location last night and they had 4 servers on the clock with no sense of urgency. We waited 30 mins and all we had in front of us was water. At the 30 min mark our "waitress" walked over and we asked about our meal- she said there shake girl walked out and they were just behind and I straight up asked if we needed to go somewhere else- she assurred me she would have our sides out right away (cottage cheese for my screaming one year old, and chili for his by the point cranky mom) as we sit for another 10 mins and she is doing everything but look our way I finally just got our things and on the way out said "you can cancel our 30 min order". I will never go back to this location!

I am currently sitting in this locatition writing this review. I walked in and it took the very grumpy hostess at least 8 minutes to notice and then seat me. There were only 2 others in the resturant at the time. I was seated at a very sticky table with a used straw wrapper a drink stain ring and a cigarette burn. I saw my server cough into her hand. Yuck!

It's a Tuesday night and not many places are very busy. Such was the case tonight as I visited this location in Bolingbrook on Weber Rd. When I walked in I was greeted and shown to a table. So far so good but it all went south from there. I mean there were only 8 people in the place and I sat for more than 10 minutes without anyone taking my order. I sat up in my seat looking around and I was not noticed. I actually walked out and still nobody noticed. Very bad service. With many places serving burgers and shakes, this place can't afford to ignore customers.

I know this is late but 3-4 years ago I stopped by here with friends in the late night and ordered a frisco melt n I took one bite laid my melt the other way and found a smashed cricket the size of a quarter on the side of my melt. I was freaking out.. They took the melt off my bill & I jst got chicken tenders w/fries instead n a free shake. So I jst paid for the chicken tenders. Unfortunately 2 years later I ordered another frisco melt lmaoo Maybe the cricket was at the wrong place at the wrong time..

Steak 'N Shake isn't as good as it used to be, although the food is still decent. I don't really eat there anymore, because it seems like it isn't even as good as Denny's these days. The only reason to go is that the price is reasonable and you can find good deals. That and it is open late!

They are now offering a burger with a fried egg on it. It was pretty damn good. That is all.

Reasonably priced, but you get what you pay for. Despite what some may think, this is not a fast food place. More of a sit-down restaurant. At that, one with fairly slow service. I also worry a bit about the cleanliness, as every time I go there, multiple tables have dirty dishes still on them, and there was a foreign object once in my water. Having said all that, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better value in terms of how much food you get for the money.

Why have I lived here for a year and a half now without eating here?? It's like 5 minutes from my house, fast, and its cheap. I always get coupons to this place, making it about the same price as McDonald's.....for MUCH better food! I mean, it's not super high quality, but it's definitely satisfying. And you get a server. Our server we had this particular night was awesome. She was the only server working with about 7 tables, and she was still very attentive. We shared a bowl of chili mac supreme as an appetizer....yum! I ordered the jalapeno crunch burger.....yum! My boyfriend ordered the royale burger......again yum! For dessert you have to try one of their 20 milkshakes. If you're looking for a decent late night meal, this is the place to go! Open 24 hours, so you can go whenever you feel like it :)

I feel that I owe Steak and Shake my loyalty, and about $200 worth of stolen ashtrays from my college days. They do have some pretty good burgers, and interesting milkshakes. But for your own welfare, and the air quality of others, stay away from the chili: meaning instant gas attacks. And the fries are these shoestring thin mushy things; you either love them or hate them. (I'm in the latter group). Yes, a good place to have a bite after a few beers (or six) but unless I get coupons for here in the mail, I don't see myself frequenting this place too often. If I calculate correctly, I have to eat there four times a week for the next two months to pay off my ashtray debt!

Steak and Shake has fantastic milkshakes, and they're great for fulfulling that hunger pang for real ice cream whipped up. If you're too cheap or disinclined to smashing together your own ice cream and fruit, then this is the next best thing. However, the other meals aren't necessarily the best options for fast food unless you want something late at night, but in this corner of Bolingbrook, after 11PM there aren't many options for anywhere to eat consistently. It's cheap and easy to slap together options, but I think the french fries are pretty horrible.

Just found out last night that this one is open 24/7. This will probably be my go to place for late night eating with friends. A burger and fries (I believe you can swap sides for free) will set you back $4 or $5. Shakes are around $2 to $3. They have two happy hour times (1/2 price shakes). There is one from 2 AM to 4 AM. The food is alright for fourth meal and the service is slow but acceptable. My friend's triple steakburger was cooked to the point that the meat was hard and almost crunchy. He told our waiter and they gave him a new burger within 5 minutes. 3 stars for food and service. 1 star added for being a 24/7 sit-down in the burbs.

Ahh my home on partying nights... and exacty on that note, I wouldn't suggest you go between 10pm and 5 am on summers/any weekend as its filled with teen/young adults looking for a munchie fix after clubbing and drinking. Theres aways the same shift when we go, and they're all very nice and very fast, sans one server. The food's quick diner food so its not high end, but I eat the turkey melt every time I go, and its always awesome. Never had the breakfast, but I've heard its okay. Families and such I suggest either the drive thru, or lunch/early evening hours. They also took away the smoking section inside, so its not like your going to choke to death on smoke.
