Not the fanciest place in town - but they have good bbq. Try their lunch specials - like sandwich with chopped brisket. (very good) Several of their meats are very good!

LOVE their pork loin sandwich. The turkey is great too! French fries are awesome! Mac N Cheese is the best around!!

Fry up those amazing pickles that you have and start serving a pull pork sandwich Monday thru Friday ! Also offer more sides ! Get creative with fresh green beans and homemade brisket chili ! Homemade coleslaw ! Real mashed potatoes and gravy! Offer items that are fresh and not canned! Offer dessert! Blackberry cobbler or Apple pie?

I've read the other reviews, & (sorry) I just don't get it. The Longhorn has a lunchroom style of ordering--you collect a tray and walk the line, collect the food, & pay at the end. My family & I went over here for supper tonight on a whim as we passed by on I-57. The parking lot was empty (red flag #1) & the place inside (to me) smelled terrible. I mean, it smelled of cow--like, fresh cow on a farm smell (red flag #2). My friend--who wanted ribs in the first place--noticed right off that these people don't cook to order, per se. They cook in the morning & keep it all heated in vats & chests until they have customers--like me & my family. Her behest to head out to a reliable place (for which I wont mention here) provided red flag #3. I ordered the large plate of smoked turkey with the hot bbq sauce, a side of green beans, a side of potato salad, & a chunk of cornbread. I think the meal cost $11 if I'm not mistaken. The green beans tasted fine, but had a mushy consistency & the cooks over salted them (again, they had been prepared I don't know how much earlier in the day). The potato salad wasn't worth finishing--bland & fattening--nothing to complain about, but nothing to rave about either. The cornbread tasted fine. They provide honey on each table to sweeten them up. The turkey was fully cooked--don't get me wrong--but was cool to the touch. They threw nine ounces of cool smoked turkey on a small plate & smothered it with my choice of BBQ sauce (they offered three varieties). Overall, I didn't enjoy it. In fact, we all left wishing we had noticed the signs earlier. My friend had a severe "I told you so." moment. The people in my company--my family & one friend--also left unsatisfied in every way. My girlfriend hated the ribs. She said they had no meat on them. My partner didn't say one thing or another about his shredded beef, but he stated that his overall impression was as miserable as mine for the most part. My son ordered a side of mac & cheese that he thought was kind of gross. Everyone did like the beans--even me to a certain degree. But, we don't go to a steakhouse for green beans. For that matter, we don't remember them serving any steak at all other than the "general" shredded beef kind. From now on, we're sticking to the tried & true place that we've come to expect pretty good results from in any city for which holds one.

How has no one written about this place? They get slammed for lunch by the Statefarm crowd. I try to get to the longhorn at least every week or so. It's the only BBQ in town that cures my itch for some good BBQ. I tend to order either a sliced brisket plate or a combo with sliced and chopped. The mild sauce and hot are both great but those who know what's up order the sauces "mixed". Most meals come with 2 sides and I have my favorites, scalloped pot. Ranch beans, mac n cheese and some awesome sweet corn. People I go with tend to get the half.chicken or sliced smoked turkey and they too are outstanding. There was 1 time where my meat was a little dry but that won't stop me from giving them 5 stars. Best BBQ in town.

Absolutely fab BBQ. Real smoke, real brisket -- which I got sliced -- and really great, personable, service -- when I went, which was about dinner time. Had the ribs as well, and they were fabulous too. If you eat in Bloomington, you must go there.

In my honest opinion this place has the best Beef brisket in town. I really like going to this place at least once a month. Its like a cafeteria line and you pick whatever you want. They even cut the meat right in front of you. They always ask chopped or sliced, which i always get chopped brisket. There beans and Mac & cheese and Cornbread our excellent side dishes that they have.If your looking for the best BBQ in Bloomington/normal this is the place.

Arguably the best BBQ in Bloomington/Normal with great brisket, pork, sides, everything.

I got the chopped brisket with the mild sauce with applesauce and the ranch beans. My husband got the brisket with the combo sauce, Mac and cheese, and ranch beans. The meat was okay, but the sauce had almost zero flavor. Even the spicier sauce was just that - spicier, but not necessarily tastier. The ranch beans are a chili flavored baked beans and pretty much disgusting. The Mac and cheese and applesauce were fine. The cornbread with honey was delicious, but that's not really a reason to visit. Overall, I was very underwhelmed.
