This is a straight up old school, meat and potatoes kind of place, featuring classic American dishes that maintain an unapologetic hostility towards green vegetables. Go elsewhere if you expect non-fat skim chai lattes, harps to be serenading you, or want to listen to some over eager college puke in his first job narrating the drink specials at some cookie-cutter restaurant chain. Forget all that. I'd rather have the option to order breakfast at all hours or be served a dynamite burger for a ridiculously low price. This is a Bloomington landmark that borders a bygone era, the kind of place Elvis Presley would love.

Keller's catered my outdoor event recently and did a great job! It was a very elegant meal starting with passed hors d' oeuvres, then carved filet for dinner. The food was great, service was outstanding, they were very professional and exceeded my expectations. I couldn't be happier! I highly recommend them for your party.

This is Bloomington's version of The Billy Goat tavern in Chicago. Great Food all around, Outstanding Breakfast at any time! Cheap Prices. Try it once, and you will be going back.

Humble breakfast food at a humble price. If you're expecting something more, remember what you're paying and realize you're getting more than what you're paying for, on top of great service and an incredibly inviting atmosphere. Just moved into the neighborhood and this place felt like "home". Don't forget it's cash or check only.

My run of breakfast stops ends with two of the cheapest good greasy breakfast joints in town - just down the street from each other - over the 3-day holiday weekend! Give it to Aleta Janes for efficiency and cleanliness. Barely give it Keller's for taste based on the crispier hash browns. Neither has homemade corned beef hash and both could use a coffee upgrade. In terms of value, they r both under $5 winners!

My new favorite place in Bloomington! Great food, service and prices :) The decor is vintage with a country twist. I will definitely return.

Good cheap greasy food. Can't beat it for the price! I've only had breakfast and its been great!

Who doesn't take credit cards these days?

I eat here because it is cheap. I like their breakfast the best, and they have decent biscuits and gravy. I get a large order of biscuits and gravy, hash browns with gravy, and sasuage patties usually. The food is usually warm..not always hot hot, and the staff are friendly. I just wish that they would start accepting debtt and credit cards.

I am not really sure how to describe Kellers. The only word that comes to mind is home-cooking. It's a tell it like it is place- what you see on the menu is what you get, you don't ask for acceptions! I think the word vegetarian would probably be scoffed at here. The coffee isn't that good but the company is. Remember: they only accept cash- no worries, they do have an ATM in the restaurant! I recommend that you go with an open mind, it's a great place to visit if you live in the area or are just visiting & need a non-touristy place...if there is such a place in Normal, IL!

Bottom Line: If you're looking for something quick , cheap, homestyle that leaves you full without feeling like Shamu... then you're at the right place. This is a standard greasy spoon that is unpretentious, no frills, and a great local spot. If you're the kind of person that has to ask for "special" things and changes to your meals then go somewhere else princess. Don't try for egg whites, or sugar free... go somewhere else. For those of you that like a little more detail... Payment: Cash only. But they do have an ATM. Seating: Seat yourself. No one will tell you how long the wait is. A few stools at the bar, but unless you start going here for awhile I would save those for the regulars. Yes, everyone is a regular but you. The dining area has about 15ish tables... some in the front near the windows with a view of a TV and some in the back. Not good for big groups. Ditch some friends to keep it to 4. Coffee: Good. Nothing fancy, but fresh. Cream and sugar on the table. Service: You're not going here to be pampered people, but you'll get coffee and it will be refilled. You won't sit forever either. You order, you get your food, pretty simple. What did we order? My are you nosey... The #3 which is Biscuits and gravy, eggs, hashbrowns and toast. The hubby ordered this and said the gravy was nice and thick. Likes it better at Garden of Paradise, though a good option in town. Hashbrowns were good, nothing to write home about but you get hashbrowns and they taste like hashbrowns. No complaints. Ordered scrambled eggs and they were obviously fresh, not that out of a milk carton crap. More on the dry side, but I like them that way. The #6 which is 2 small pancakes, definitely homemade and yummy... not perfect circles if you know what i mean. Also came with a choice of meat, I chose bacon and got three perfectly cooked slices, crisy and chewy, a tough combo for most. And scrambled eggs which were as I said closer to dry but that's how i like them anyway. The Damage? #3 plus #6 plus 2 coffees = 8.75 add on a tip and that's a pretty good deal :-)

Yes, this is the cheapest breakfast I think I've ever had. Two of us ate heartily for $7 total. Now I understand that for the price, there should be few complaints and I'm not much of a complainer. But I will make some observations that support my two star rating. My waitress was pretty brusque... maybe she had a bad morning or something. My over-easy eggs had runny *whites*, which is kind of icky. The food was ok though for the price-- I just wish my eggs were a bit more over easy. The restaurant does not take cards, which is fine because they have an ATM inside, but you can probably save yourself a service charge if you show up with cash. Customers pay at the register when they are done. There's also a JFK assassination shrine toward the back of the restaurant which was pretty amusing to look at. One suggestion I have for the cafe is not to use ochrey-brown colored cups because 1. you can't see if the cup is dirty and 2. you can't see if the water is dirty. I want to know if there's floaties in my cup! That's just a pet peeve of mine, but I surely can't be the only one to have it. Overall for cheeeeaaaap grub, go. Otherwise, spend the few extra bucks on something a bit better.

This place is mediocre at best. It's close to where I live and my girlfriend and I wanted to try a new breakfast place. Really cheap food yeah, but you get what you pay for. Really slow too. Wasn't busy at all and took at least 10+ minutes for our food. They don't have a lot of breakfast combos. No french toast combos. Really? The french toast was soggy too. Waitress messed up my order, told her gravy on the side for my skillet and then that took another 10 minutes to bring out another one. For two we ended up paying $23. 23 effing dollars for horribly generic food?!? Never again. For $16 at zorba's two people could eat like KINGS, and the food comes out within 5 minutes. And of course the surprise of no accepted debit/credit cards at kellar's (but they do take checks). Oh sure for an extra $2 you can withdraw from that dial-up atm. Had to do that and it came out of the waitress' tip. If you're not 60+ years old with all the free time retirement offers, or if you live in the 21st century with debit cards and you want food that actually tastes delicious and unique for just a little bit extra money, go to zorba's or uncle toms in normal. Once you eat there, obsolete dive restaurants like this won't ever compare. Never again with this trash-heap.

Went here for lunch and found every possible definition of a dive. I'll spare the details to say this is a place for local workers to have breakfast and lunch and not a place I would recommend to anyone else. I myself have been a regular at a place like this and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the wait staff, and finding their one or two special dishes that just beat the commercial versions sold elsewhere, but I have to say nothing seamed special about this place to deserve an exciting review/recommendation to a fellow Yelper.

This place is money on a hungover sunday, If you can get in the door. The place is very small, and waits can pile up, Other than that, you get some straight old diner-style breakfest food at the cheapest prices you have ever seen.

I have been to Keller's once...and, it was ok. It's a little place, good for breakfast- but really greasy. The staff weren't very pleasant. It's a place with lots of "regulars" and I felt really out of place. Ordering egg whites seemed to be a hassle for them too. It's been around for a long time and I think they do ok. I would say lots of construction workers headed there for breakfasts in the morning.

Hands-down the cheapest breakfast in town. Surprisingly, the food is really good, and cleanliness is only a small concern. Very few tables, regular customers and waitresses. Don't plan on getting a spot between 9-11a any day of the week. Portions are also very filling. Best sausage gravy in town.
