Had a great time @ Gill St. Pub. I had a yummy chicken fajitas wrap, great bloody Mary. Hubby had a huge pork tenderloin sandwich w/a salad, which he demolished. Great food and an amazing band, the Bygones. BTW, prices on alcohol are very reasonable. Also, service was great, considering the huge crowd they had here tonight.

Just ok. Typical bar food, ordinary beer selections. The attraction here is the sand volleyball pit in the back where leagues play. The outdoor bar area is really large, indoor is pretty small.

Best bar food in the Bloomington- Normal area. Love the chicken strips and the MacNCheese bites:) Nothing healthy for you here, but then that's not why you go to a bar. Nice variety of beer on hand. Clean, attractive interior. Fun outdoor seating and volleyball. Average service, nothing great nor bad about the service. I love this spot.

This place claims its a sports bar, but they don't even have the games in HD.

The food is ok at best and over priced at that, beer is even higher $9 pitchers are crazy when several other well known bars sell them for 4 & 5 bucks. Gill street is trying to be something it's not..

Supremely average and underwhelming. Nothing bad of note, per se. Seems like they get all of their menu items from Sysco. The menu is very Midwest. Potato salad and breaded / fried everything. C'mon. Good for sports and beer though. Just don't expect great food.

I love the patio area at Gill St. If I want to sit outside and drink a beer, then this is where I want to be. Good mix of people and ages. The food is just okay though. It's bar food, but I've had a lot better in town. Good overall place, and I'll keep going back.

Apparently Gill St has decided they no longer want your business if you drink anything but beer. As far as cocktails go, they only sell mixers with virtually no alcohol in them. I had started feeling this way after several visits there and became really suspicious when friends of mine started complaining about astronomical bar tabs that never got them so much as a light buzz. Out of curiosity I went up and counted the bartender's pours. Apparently a regular pour is 3/4 oz. while a double is 1oz to 1.5 oz. The food is still good though, so they get 2 stars. But as far as ordering mixed drinks goes, just get water instead. You'll get the same effect, but the water is free. This is not a training issue as the bartenders I watched had been there for years. I guess Gill St has decided to cut it's liquor overhead by consistently short-pouring their loyal customers.

Went here to hear a friends band and sat on the patio out back. The weather was perfect so made for a good time. Lots of dancing and cold beers, was a great atmosphere. Had sand volleyball pits and kids were hitting balls the whole time so had to watch out for incoming obstacles.

Average at best. Potential to be something great. Large outdoor patio with sand volleyball and bands during the summer. Inside is small. Service is hit or miss. Food is ok, but nothing beyond typical "bar food." Nothing to brag about. Overall an ok place to have a drink during the summer when you can be out on the patio and play in a sand volleyball league... but that's about it.

I recently hosted my dad's retirement party at Gill Street and they were wonderful to work with! We were going to have about 25-35 people at any given time for a 4-7pm happy hour type party. I contacted them several months out to start the planning process and they were great. They offered several different locations for our group, food options, bar options, etc. The party was early October and we ended up getting an unseasonably cold day. They moved our party to a better location before we even had to call and ask. They had the tables set up and ready to go when we got there, provided cake/gift tables, and tablecloths. They were extremely accommodating. Our server was friendly and very attentive. I didn't have to try to find her all night - she was always on top of it! We brought and cake and ordered pizzas and a veggie tray for our guests. The food was great. I highly recommend them for a party venue!

Have enjoyed the atmosphere at Gill St. for a number of years. Fun especially during summer, when all you want is a good v-ball game and cold beer. They've perfected this. The food and service, however, leaves a lot to be desired. I'm a fan of bar food, and you can get a lot better food for a lot cheaper price at other local establishments. For example, we visited on a lenten Friday night. I ordered the walleye sandwich with sweet potato fries. Also got an order of cheese nuggets as an appetizer. The cheese nuggets were priced at $6.79, so we were expected enough to share between 3 people. Whoa...wrong. There were 15 max served on a plate. The cup of marinara took up 1/4 of the plate! WAY overpriced! Try Green Gables, Mugsy's, or Pub II for fried cheese balls. The walleye was very thin filets that were over drenched and in a cornmeal batter that was salty enough to give you a heart attack. It was literally inedible. It was also over fried and saturated with grease. When the waitress asked if we wanted a box, we told her about the saltiness. She apologized and took the plate away. ??? Unfortunately, the sweet potato fries were overdone on the outside, raw in the middle, and completely unseasoned. Disappointing...

This is a popular 30-50s grill and bar with sports and sand volleyball available. Happy hour is a regular spot for the town ski club. Not much seating, and always a wait for a table. Regular bar fare - wings, ribs, hand foods. Sandwiches are decent. The atmosphere is middle-class midde-age happy hour. Clean and fast service.

Gill St is a typical local sports bar, nice enough aesthetically and good when the weather is nice and you can enjoy the back patio. I went there a few times when I lived in B-N and it was always pretty packed. My only complaint is with the food. One night, I ordered a chipotle chicken sandwich for $9.95. When it came out, I thought it was a little small for the price and didn't have a lot of filling. It looked pretty processed. Then I realize that it was a Stouffer's microwave melt sandwich, complete with the fake grill lines on the bread. Everyone at my table agreed that it was a microwaved sandwich the bar was trying to pass off as it's own. At least they took the liberty of serving it on a real plate, not the silver microwave tray. Needless to say, that was a disappointment.

Gill Street is the mecca of all east side Bloomington bars. During the volleyball season you WILL park a half mile down the street unless you arrive by 4 PM and if there is a band you will be there with hundreds of east side wives who have put on their cutest pair of jeans and done their hair "JUST RIGHT" to go out. The beer garden/volleyball courts are Gill Street's main attraction. During the summer it is a huge party with the random stray volleyball flying toward your table (if you can get one....GOOD LUCK!). There also tends to be an overabundance of smoke so if that bothers you I would stay out of the beer garden. The food at Gill Street is just OK. The service generally sucks even though I have to credit the waiters and waitresses for handling the nightly crush of people during volleyball season. You'll find better food at Elroy's, Mugsy's, and Pub II but you won't get the atmosphere of Gill at any of these bars. In short, if you live in a 300K house east of Veteran's Parkway you're probably already reading this review on your iPhone while you're sitting in the beer garden sipping your rum and diet before your State Farm volleyball game. If this doesn't fit you, try it out once and make your own decision. You might like it.

I'm pretty sure that this is another State Farm buidling :-) Just saying if you want to get away from coworkers, this is probably not the spot. Its a hot spot in the summer because they arguably have the best outdoor patio around. Lots of tables, volleyball, full bar in and out, music often and better than average bar food. Daily drink specials including bucket specials make it great for big groups. Go early if you want a table outside, and if you're a young girl meeting someone watch out for the hit-on-you crowd that tends to man the patio bar... nothing to be worried about, it can just get obnoxious so showing up with a friend usually keeps them at bay. Enjoy a fun night out!

Yes, a popular happy hour spot with the outdoor volleyball league view. Awesome use of the sand courts for kids to play while the 'rents enjoy a cocktail. Enjoyed the Gill St Fries and Wings that pass for decent pub fare.

The outdoor seating is very nice...watching the volleyball games is great during the summer. My husband has been in a leasgue out there for the last 5 years and they maintain their courts well. The food is always good...not the most creative menu, but solid food. I will say that the service is not always up to par...it seems the busier it gets, the more difficult it seems to be to even get a menu to order.
