Get anything with "fajita" in the name. It's soo good! Reasonable prices and great margarita specials. Fast, good service too!

The food at El Toro is not terrible, but I don't know of a self-respecting Mexican chef that would use a yellow cheese sauce (a la Velveeta) in his/her dishes. Furthermore, enchiraras (as I like to call them) involve warming the corn tortillas in oil wrapping the enchilada and then oven baking where I come from. Here, as with many places outside of California, Arizona, and Texas the chefs skip the hot oil bath in the frying pan step,. That oil adds flavor and texture that is missing in the enchiladas I've sampled at El Toro. Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff, but I'm afraid the food is just ok.

My fiancee and I have ate here 30+ times and I consider our review accurate. The staff is friendly, fast and efficient. The inside atmosphere is very relaxing and feels like being in Mexico . The salsa & chips and food is fantastic . We believe the best in Mclean county for Mexican style food and we've tried everywhere. It has the best outside patio eating area in this area. It overlooks a golf course with a large pond with a huge fountain in the middle. Perfect for sunny days and the fiancee tells me the margaritas are one of the best you can get in this area. We've never had bad service and the food comes out quick. They actually have the heat turned up in the colder months unlike most restaurants in this area. Go, u wont regret it.

$5 Tuesday ritas and free chips and salasa. Also $4 Stellas. Had a few apps at a work event and the food wasnt that great. Salsa & Guac was awesome though. This place is just in such a weird location. If you didn't know it exisited there would be no way to find it. Will likely be back for drinks but not going out of my way for food.

Food quality seems to be going down over time here. When they opened a couple years ago, it was top notch. Lately, it's just okay. Not sure why either? For example, I ordered vegetarian fajitas and they had broccoli cauliflower and carrots in it and not much mushrooms, green peppers, etc. Not what the menu described at all. Service is usually prompt and friendly enough. Margaritas are good and beer selection is not bad either!

I really like the food and they have reasonable prices for you to eat out. You can take a date or a group of friends here and have a great time.

Me and my family go every Friday night. The waiters know us by name and have our table ready for us. The fajitas are to die for. Along with everything else. Everything's served with a separate plate of rice, beans and more. Very large portions, 2 of us share and order of fajitas or anything on the menu really. Amazing service too.

This place is awesome. To a degree. The margaritas are definitely your generic sugar and tequila margaritas from most restaurant, so I don't recommend them for their unique and amazing margaritas. Now, the food... on the other hand: The food is delicious. It's served in seizable portions, the type of portions that you don't take thirty pounds of left overs home with, but they're delicious. I absolutely loved the food. It was delicious, fresh and had tons of flavor. The pricing was amazing for the taste of food, but, considering that most Mexican restaurants leave you with enough left overs to eat for a week, this made me a little sad. But the price made up for it. I enjoyed them, and I've recommend it to all but the more conscious of Margarita lovers. Great Mexican food at a great price!

Basically my last first choice for Mexican in town. It is nice that they are not as busy as some of the other places but I have had a few bad experiences here that keep me from suggesting it to anyone. First I have had more than once that my waiter could not speak any English. We each had to point to the item on the menu we wanted, and forget about changing something about the order. They would just try to repeat back what you said without ever understanding it and then bring it to you exactly how it is on the menu. I also ordered a Vodka and Cranberry which was the worst I have ever had. It tasted like they ran out of cranberry so they used club soda and added a little red food coloring. When I explained to the waiter that it tasted horrible, he could not understand anything I was saying. I ended up ordering a soda and they charged me for both even though he took my first drink away.

Excellent chips and salsa. Very fresh. Arrived early on a Saturday evening and received prompt service. Good portion sizes and value. Ordered an enchilada platter and was impressed. Would recommend for anyone looking for a cheap and fresh meal in a clean and friendly atmosphere.

Great Mexican food! But in this town Mexican is Mexican. But the free salsa! That's worth it right there. I don't know WHAT they put in it, but it's the most amazing stuff ever! I sometimes ask for some of the salsa to go. I think they should sell the stuff in stores. My main concern is it's location. It's nice that it's off the beaten path, but I've seen places go under as a result. Hopefully they can beat the curve and stay open. I also hope they fix the palm trees. Really detracts from the ambiance.

Best Mexican food & atmosphere we have experienced in Bloomington. (Which doesn't mean that it is great by any means if you are used to fantastic, authentic, fresh Mexican food) Meaty burritos, red sauce, crispy chips. Iced tea was a little bitter. Tamale has shredded beef and is delicious. Can't wait to return with hubby & try the bar.

I ordered three taco's, two of the three were so soggy that the bottom's instantly blew out as soon as i lifted the taco. Im also a fast eater so they didn't sit much and i think the only reason the third didn't blow out is bc i stood it up on the edge of the basket vertically, to drain all the grease. By the time i got to the third, the basket had a half inch of water/greese combo sitting in the basket. Because of the over watered/grease tacos I hardly tasted any taco flavor on the meat. Also, i was planning on buying cheese dip for the chips until i saw that the cheese dip alone cost $4. My three tacos only cost .50 more than that! So i passed on the unreasonable cheese dip and overal had a pretty unsuccessful lunch.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. They have the best tacos I've ever had, amazingly fast service, and the nicest wait staff! It's sorta in the middle of nowhere, but well worth it.

Its tucked in back by the golf course, but definitely worth discovering. The service is really fast especially over lunch when you need it to be, the food (and plates) are always hot and there are plenty of combo lunch options to pick from. I like my salsa mild so it tastes great to me and so do the chips. Great option for large groups.

This is one of the best Mexican places out here. The food is fresh AND served in a timely matter. The prices are decent too. My husband and I go at least twice a month and if we have friends visiting well that means we go more often. It's not authentic, but they are a blast. We got to know the staff very well and they are always very accommodating. We saw one issue where 2 parties booked the same room at the same time. There was a mixup when the 2nd party was confirming their reservation and the person who took the call got confused because when he tried to verify the party name the woman kept talking over him so he assumed it was the same party. (Caught this at lunch). Because some friends wanted to go for dinner, I got to see the results. Juan the owner was trying to fix the issue (give the 2nd party the entire outdoor space), but they didn't want to hear it. Toro may have lost customers that night, but my husband and I will continue to go and bring our friends who now love it too.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
