First time here. Place is small but the Chicken sandwich I ordered was great. Well seasoned! Highly recommended for a bit to eat.

Not going to lie this place has an amazing steak sandwich that is a hidden gem. I made the mistake to go to yorkys for theirs. Does not compare. Steak tender, juicy, flavorful but yes greasy so get them extra napkins out or take a shower after. They have daily specials as well. Very legit will be back!
(4)David R.
Okay so the food and the prices match up well. They forgot the order of small fries. I like there coupons I get at my door and there daily specials. The reason I gave it a two is I'm in a biracial relationship and maybe I think they forgot my fries on purpose. The cashier that took my order looked at me funny when she realized who I was with and who I was ordering for. I believe in second chances and will go there again separately and with my woman to see if I'm treated any different.

Someone had to read my previous review OR someone else bought the joint. The place is clean now. The dogs are the BEST in the area! The prices are fair! The service is fast! The hot dog snaps when you bite into it. The bun is always soft and has a perfect taste that compliments the dog. The toppings are fresh and plentiful. The fries...... ohhhhhhh the freakin' fries. You widen my ass but make me so happy! :) Long Live Scoobys! I gave it 4 stars. Would give it 5 if the parking was better and the seating had a booth. Its a really damn small place.
(4)Adam T.
The burger tasted like... Like nothing. Very dry. Strawberry shake feels like made out of fake ingredients. Fries ok, again nothing special. One star because they were very fast. Will not visit again. Does not come remotely close to Yorkie's which is down the street quarter mile south (closed for remodeling). Big thumbs down.

Just tried Scooby's for the first time ever...since it's only a 2 minute drive from my office I will definitely be able to return and try some other items on the menu. Be advised - this place is tiny...you may need to take your order to go. I was in the mood for a burger so gave their Western Burger a try. 1/3 pound, nice patty, seemed like a homemade hand-pat patty rather than the pre-made frozen kind - good and juicy, too. Plenty of grilled onions and cheddar along with BBQ sauce. Not sure if they changed this or not but the printed menu says it also should have bacon on it...it just now occured to me, mine did not have any bacon on it. The only thing about the burger which wasn't great was how soft the kaiser bun was...didn't hold up well with a juicy burger with lots of toppings. Their fries are hand cut and very good, not greasy. I ordered a small fry and my goodness, it was a half a take-out bag full of fries! 4 people could have easily shared what they gave me. Also, be aware - with the fries is they just pour them in the bag on top of your food...there was no way for me to extricate my wrapped burger at the bottom of the bag without trying to dig through VERY hot french fries. I finally just ripped the bag open to get my burger out. I was sad they don't have onion rings but their fries are darn good, so I got over it. Oh, and they have Green River soda pop. Fantastic.

Scooby's Red Hot is like that drunk college spot you never wanna be seen at during the day. The location is small, cramped, and has the usual crappy decor you would find in Uncle Frank's retro 50's basement. None of it makes any sense. The food is eh.... And by eh I mean the burger wasn't half bad. But forget about the fries. I ordered a large thinking I was going to get a human amount of deep fried hand cut potatoes. No I got an entire bag filled with frozen potatoe-like substance pumped full with grease. I mean the bag that held my large order of whatever was just soaking in grease, I couldn't even imagine what it did to my insides. Bottom Line: The only thing that sums this place up well is an old article I saw about Scooby's on the restaurant's grand opening: "Scooby's Red Hot has hit Bensenville like a HEART ATTACK!" (Real article hanging up on the wall)

(5)Rob R.
Yea, the hot dogs aren't bad. Despite the overwhelming amount of grease, the fries aren't bad either (although the grease will cause your bag to deteriorate in a matter of minutes). You get a "free" order of fries with every two hot dogs. I've gone here a few times with friends and enjoyed it for what it is: cheap eats. Unfortunately, I am a stickler for cleanliness. I accept that sometimes its better not to know what happens in a kitchen. But restaurants that offer a near full view of the kitchen OWE it to their customers to exhibit sanitary behaviors. I want to believe these people wash their hands, but I grow suspect when not one, not two, BUT THREE people are touching all elements of my meal without gloves. For shame, Scooby's, for shame.
(1)Ron J.
Nom, Nom. The dogs are great, burgers good, the chicken is especially good (it is marinated)

I see why this place has the rating it does! I went in yesterday at about 7:30. Tthey close at 8, be careful guys they are not open Sunday's and close earlier on Saturdays... this kind of place I'd expect to be open late, but I guess they don't need to be and I see why. The overall feel of the place is fun. Decor is also really fun and the staff was really laid back and welcoming. The cashier was really funny... I had the 1/3 Cheeseburger (Wednesdays special) with the works and extra crispy fries. My friend had the same. A small (which looked like a medium) pink lemonade, total with tax $10.50. Not bad! They also have a buy two hot dogs get fries free special every day, and other daily specials for each day of the week they are open. The cheeseburger was really tasty and the fries came out extra crispy as requested. I hate ordering extra crispy fries and walking out with soggy ones. I can't wait to have a good Chicago Hot Dog there... update coming soon to Yelpers near you! :)
(5)Greg Z.
Order 2 hotdogs for under $4 and get a huge order of fresh cut fries free! If you are fan of the Chicago style dog they will do you right. Nicely prepared poppy seed bun and tasty link. Also, for $4 before tax instead of Portillo's "no discount" combo of 2 dogs and large fries for $6.50+, your scoring a deal! Also, Green River on tap, and free refills on soft drinks. Much better value than Portillos when you consider lower prices and free refills. Yes, it IS a smaller place with about 4 tables.
(4)Bridget V.
This place is really good. I'm talking, the best steak sandwich I've ever had good. My first experience was about 4 days ago when my friend's dad brought us home a steak sandwich after getting off work at a nearby hospital. I was seriously having a food-gasm as I was eating it. The steak is well seasoned, the provolone was melted perfectly, and the peppers and grilled onions add a delicious sweet and moist element to it. I went back yesterday and saw they had a Green River milkshake. I obviously HAD to order it since I've always loved Green River growing up and it's definitely an out-of-the-ordinary drink selection. The shake was a good thickness and it was sooooo freaking good. The only reason why I gave them 4 out of 5 stars it because their fries are not crispy. I mean, I love when you get the occasional soggy fry, but this was a bit ridiculous. They definitely have the potential to be delicious- good flavor and well seasoned, they just need to keep them in the fryer for longer.
(4)Sarah C.
I've never been disappointed by scoobys. I live their hotdogs, fries are great.. And they have green river! Great prices and quick service is always a plus! The tend to offer good specials and even Italian ice during the summer.
(4)Renita M.
Scooby's is probably my favorite Chicago dogs-fries-shakes joint. I first discovered the wonder of Scooby's Red Hots in Algonquin; that location has since closed but when we moved I was delighted to find one not too far away in Bensenville. It is a pretty no-frills place; about four tables to eat in, and the counter. That's it. Funny signs adorn the walls, along with news clippings. The menu is what you'd expect at a basic hot dog joint: hot dogs, sausages, italian beef, burgers, fries, shakes, soda. But it's sooooo good. The red-hots are thinner and a little longer than your typical chicago dog; of course you get whatever toppings you want (but no ketchup!). I always get everything except relish. They didn't put peppers on; I guess you have to ask for those. The tomato was firm and tasty, the pickle was delish, the bun soft and squishy, the dog with just the right flavor. And the fries. Oh, the fries. They are hand-cut and soooooooooo good. They actually taste like potatoes! Except greasy and salty and delicious. And the shakes are quite tasty too. Besides strawberry, chocolate and vanilla they also have banana (yum yum) and green river. Hmm, I wonder if they would make me a chocolate-banana one next time... I love me some scooby's when I want a nice greasy Chicago fast meal. We'll definitely be back.
(4)Ryan G.
This Red Hots stand gets a five for being exactly what it should be. Big Chicago style hot dogs done right. I ordered two and got a massive helping of free fries; fresh cut and tasty. This + a cup of cheese sauce cost me five and change... great value.
(5)Erik H.
Scooby's has always been a very good and consistently high quality hot dog joint that has managed to pull me away from Odie's and Portillo's from time to time. The portions are large and greasy and the decor is what I'll call 50s inspired, always a good fit for a place like this. The hot dogs and the Italian Beef are both done very well, and as such Scooby's is one of the best places to eat in Bensenville.
(4)Marty S.
One of the best Chicago Dogs I have had. Fries are good you get a lot. When I purchase two dogs, they give me almost a whole bag of fries. Just wish this type of food was healthier ;-)
(5)Yvonne O.
Who doesn't love a pizza puff? This brings me back to high school when I would eat these all the time. Sure, these are square and the old ones were more like a burrito, but the taste is the same. Yummy! The husband got a hot dog and fries and loved every greasy morsel. When you are waiting at the car dealer down the road to go through financing, this is a good stop to make sure you are fueled for the negotiations!!
(4)Judith B.
so disappointed! I loved this place before. Today's experience was anything I ever remembered which is why gave it a 3 star rating vs. 2. Fries were beyond greasy and soggy, hot dogs were ok, they messed up our order. Did I just imagine awesomeness from the past? or has it changed?
(3)CATHERINE C.
Scoobys is DELISH!!! Great hot dogs and even BETTER cheeseburgers!! The orders of fries are huge!!! The place is VERY small and there isnt a ton of seating but I usually just take out so it doesnt seem to bother me. Scoobys never disappoints!
(4)Robby K.
The hot dogs are standard. The fries are way greasy, but Do Not get a burger! The hamburger buns are not suited for a 1/3 lb beef patty. I got the jalapeño burger and my buddy got the bacon burger. The beef is ok, but for god sake grill the damn bun! This is grill etiquette 101. I would only consider going back to this pace for a hotdog. They give you more than enough geeezey fries to ruin the seats of your car as the bag is wet to the touch with grease. Scooby Don't!
(1)David M.
Just like eating growing up in the burbs only back then three dogs the works with fries was a buck now it's five bucks for two still a great deal it's my first stop every time I come back to the area from my retirement home in sw Florida I grab a bag of dogs and then go visit Mom of course I bring them with me to share otherwise I'd be in trouble with her. They only have seating for about twenty if that so unless you want carry out don't go between noon and one but anytime carry out is only five minutes or so great Beefs , Sausage and other sandwich 's also fresh cut fries go with all the sandwich 's great I like to order mine we'll done
(5)Matt S.
Everyone thinks Im crazy but I would rather have Scoobys Hot Dogs than Portillos. The chicken sandwich, beef sandwich and cheeseburgers are also fantastic. The place is extrememly small, so it's not really a place to come in and sit down at. I usually just grab my food and go. My only complaint is the fries aren't the best-they changed them about 5 years ago and they haven't been the same.
(4)Mike X.
I was really underwhelmed by this place. I want to like it...because really there aren't any other hot dog joints as close by. I live just a few minutes from there and still won't go back. I went a few times and had the same experience so I decided it wasn't for me. The hot dogs were fine, exactly what you would expect. The fries though are just terrible. Both time that I went they were just so loaded with grease that it became a big clump of wet, soggy, fries. Prices could be better also.
(2)Miss A.
Mmmmm Scooby's! Yes, there is a better dog out there...but not many more in the area! The best thing about this places is the amazingly greasy and delicious hand-cut french fries. They give you loads of them! They are a now and then treat as yes they are not too good for you but come on, they are fries! They also have pretty good burgers and tamale boats as well!
(5)Milton S.
I had a steak sandwich yesterday and it was also very good - one complain though was the grease...very greasy but it comes with the territory.
