Wow, this place was really good. The servings were very generous and delicious. The pie is absolutely amazing. This is a great cafe with great service!

Such a cute little restuarant. The staff were very friendly. Food was okaye, nothing spectacular. For the food no being too great, it was a bit high priced. Plus, the lunch menu is mostly just salad. Not a wide variety to choose from.

Have a barbecue or party to go to and just don't feel like cooking anything? Be a hero and pick up a pie here. That's what I did and everyone thinks I'm awesome for bringing one-and I didn't lift a finger in the kitchen, score! A whole pie runs $16-$18. Not too inexpensive, but time is money sometimes-and they are delicious.

The place is utterly charming. The food was good not great but good. Service was very nice and kinda prompt. However, the tables were so dirty that they were sticky. Other than that I was pleasantly surprised.

Pros: Really good food, especially the pie! Reasonable prices. Cons: Service is slow, hours are not very convenient and the restaurant has an awkward layout. If you don't mind some inconveniences, I'd say go for it to try the pie and support a local business. If you are on a lunch break from work and have time constraints, then I would not recommend the Pie Pantry.

Went about 10am. Just myself and another table. Service was fine. I ordered an omelet with toast. Served up with some sweet homemade strawberry jam. Coffee was Starbucks. Great change from Panera. I can't wait to go for pie! I heard they have an awesome Easter breakfast and brunch.

"Marilyn's" Pie Pantry, now known as The Pie Pantry has relocated since it's original spot on East Main many years ago. I remember going there as a teen, eating delicious bread and salads, excellent chili, and of course strawberry pie. I remember the decor, and the outdoor looking patio. I miss that place. The new Pie Pantry still has good pies, but the service is super slow. Forget about being on a schedule if you go there for lunch. The chili is still good, as are the pies (coconut custard cream is excellent). The decor is plain now though, so it lost its aesthetic appeal to me. Nonetheless, I go there every time I visit Belleville...when I have the time to sit for a while.

The Pie Pantry is an awkward little restaurant situated in downtown Belleville. When I say awkward, I mean that it's one of those places that is worth going to despite its many failings, most of which you won't really appreciate until you've been there. Let's start with the good: the food is basic, the prices are low, and the pies are delicious. I recommend the chocolate chip cheesecake pie, though all of the slices of pie I've had have been delicious. One would hope that a place with a name like "The Pie Pantry" would specialize in dessert, and they really don't disappoint on that front. As for the awkward aspects of the restaurant, they boil down to three problems: 1) Though there is a front entrance on Main St., you're supposed to park in the back and come in through the rear entrance, then walk through the restaurant to reach the front entrance so you can wait to be seated. 2) The restaurant has two rooms on either side of a long hallway because it's technically part of an old "mall" within the building. As a result, service can be a little spotty depending on which room you're in. 3) The hours are very weird. The Pie Pantry is open for breakfast, but its food then is rather plain. It does serve Starbucks Coffee, which is really its most redeeming AM offering. The restaurant stays open for lunch and then closes at 3:00 PM (and sometimes earlier, if they're not busy). The problem is that pie is something you tend to crave in the later part of the day. I'd be in favor of them skipping breakfast and staying open later in the day for dinner. If you can put up with the awkwardness of the restaurant, it's a great place to grab a bite in downtown Belleville. Give it a try!

Yum....pie! Tons of pie! Well, at least on the less busy days. Every flavor of pie I have ordered from The Pie Pantry has been good. My favorite is the banana cream pie, while my mom prefers the apple crumb. Really, though, you can't go wrong here. It's pie. But minus one star for having green key lime pie...anyone from the great state of FL will tell you that green key lime pie is a sin of the highest order. They also have a great chicken salad sandwich...two kinds even! One is more tropical, containing pineapple, and the other is traditional with some almonds thrown in. Both are served on cinnamon rasin bread. If you don't like rasins, they will change the bread. Expect a disapproving look, though. The women running the establishment are opinionated and will let you know if they do not approve of your choices.

Had a great lunch. I had the Grown-Up Grilled Cheese, which was fabulous. My husband had the Strawberry Fields Salad, which he also enjoyed. Service was excellent. Pie was tasty and relatively inexpensive. Nice lunch locale.

I will start off and say that the service could use a little help. When I've gone there, it's only teenage girls who don't have a concept of a schedule (I was pressed for time and I told her that). I eventually got my food, which was an Italian roast beef sandwich, served with au jus on the side. It was pretty tasty and didn't skimp on anything. Then I tried one of their many pies. I think I should go there on a more busy day and try their pies out. They seemed to be out of a lot of them. That's okay, because my pecan pie was delicious and I tried bringing home a slice of banana cream pie, but ate it on the car ride back. The first time I visited was years ago, and I noted that they had a tremendous, but tasty burger. Maybe I'll get that next time. Or just save all of my room for pie.

I worked for the Pie Pantry after graduating college, so I'm very familiar with their food... although, that was back in 1999. So, I decided to give it a try because it never disappointed me before. I took a friend there Sunday morning for a late breakfast/early lunch and I remembered they moved locations. Although still located in Belleville, IL (which isn't that far people, only about 20 minutes east of downtown St. Louis).. it moved down the street from it's original location. The atmosphere is very country, lots of wood beams on the ceilings, kind of a Cracker Barrel feel to it. The crowd is typically older, around 50's-60's. It's also very quiet. I ordered the biscuits with gravy, hashbrowns, 1 egg and a piece of apple crumb pie with ice cream. Oh, and coffee. Let me tell you, I loved all of it, except for my egg which I asked to be cooked extra overhard and it was still a little runny. The apple crumb pie was by far the best I've had in a couple years. They bake all their pies fresh every single day and I didn't try the rolls this time, but they are also baked daily and to die for!! The server was absolutely horrendous, she was slow, didn't refill our waters or coffee and seemed rather bitter to be working. I will say when my friend asked if she could have a half of two different kinds of pie, the waitress said it wasn't allowed, but she gave it to her anyway.. so she was somewhat redeemed there. Total price for all that food and the coffee, tip included.. less than $11. It's definitely worth the drive to Illinois.

The Pie Pantry is one of those places in Belleville where whenever you go there you're amazed to see so many smiling people in one room. I jokingly call this place the Prozac pantry for that reason. But, how could you not smile when a place exists where you can get delicious pie any time of the day for pauper's prices? The Pie Pantry is such a place. They also serve regular food here which is fairly decent (think Cracker Barrel plus a few hundred points): sandwiches, salads, soups. But the pie is where it's at. The Pie Pantry offers new and exciting pies all the time, my favorite is the strawberry rhubarb and the chocolate. I also make an attempt to try to seasonal fruit pies as much as possible, too. This place is absolutely worth checking out. Immediately. Bring your smile.
