I felt like Robert Irvine in Restaurant Impossible....the place smells, is overall disgusting and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. It was gross and we kept on thinking if we could go in the kitchen what would we find, and really didn't want to know. Food was cheap both in price and quality; you get what you pay for. The bright spot was our server as she was excellent, and very friendly. Overall I can see why people just go for drinks....

Still probably my favorite drink spot in Batavia, but that's not saying much. If you have a decent relationship with the bartenders you get served quick if not you wait. Really a hit or miss when it comes to riding through. Thursday's are great for local talent, but other than that you get a chance of either being the youngest person in there or the only person in there not trying to buy coke from a shady local. All in all though I do recommend, drinks are reasonably priced and a great spot to people watch.

cute little place in downtown batavia,il. The soups were great, french onion delicious and my husband had pizza soup that was very good! Portions were large and prices very reasonable. We will definitely go back!. They also have a friday night fish fry and you can mix and match all you can eat! It is a small place but very comfortable. Sirloin was super and the pork tenderloin also very good. The also had a exceptionally good banana split that was large and my husband and I split it and it was delightful with a beautiful presentation

Can't comment on the food yet, but had a great time downing a few pints and shots with friends on Friday night. We usually forgo Batavia and head straight for Geneva, St. Charles, Aurora, Naperville for the bar scene but we went with a friend who used to work there. The bar downstairs was packed with a just a few tables and chairs sitting open and everyone was a pickin' and a grinnin' to a local bluegrass jam band. Easy to get a drink from the bar, really friendly staff and patrons and the best bar prices in tri-cities compared to Geneva and St. Charles. Nothing but good things to say so far, a good night spot a lot closer than I thought. Looking forward to returning for a meal and some more live music.
This place was kinda disgusting. Out of 4 people only one person was even remotely happy with her food. But she said it wasn't great. Just ok. I got the Chili Mac. The idea struck me cause it's Chili on Mac and Cheese. Love both of them. They really weren't busy, but took awhile to get our food. Mine looked good until I started to dig in a little. Somebody at the table mentioned that something smelled like bad breathe. She smelled everyone's food until she came to mine. She said it stunk. I couldn't smell it until I moved my fork around a little inside. Now I smelled it, and the meat looked a little weird to. I did taste it, and it tasted like a dirty sock. It was nasty. I asked for them to take it back, and looked over the menu... after that though I lost my appetite. But ordered a grill cheese that took like 15 minutes to make. I asked for it to go and am not sure I will even eat it now that I think about it. The place wasn't very clean, and there were shady regulars sitting at the bar. Not my kinda place. Sorry.

My mom suggested we try this place as my stepfather heard good things about it from people he works with. I looked at the online menu before going and I told my mom there must be a catch. They have a lot of things that sound good and more up scale, but super cheap. I told her I really wasn't hot on going, but 4 of us went here for dinner. Granted, we got there at about 5pm, so maybe it wasn't hopping yet, but when you walk in the front door, it looks like you're walking into an abandoned building with an empty bar and a pool table. You have to walk downstairs for the restaurant, where they have another bar and a small outdoor seating area. I believe it was only my group and one other family that was here for actual dinner. There were a couple people at the bar that appeared to be regulars and a little iffy looking. Our server was as nice as could be and helpful. I believe her name is Christine. She was the only good experience in the place. We ordered our food. A shrimp scampi, a breaded cod, country fried chicken and chili mac. It took a little longer than what I would think it would take, considering we were almost the only people in the place. When the server put all our food on the table, I smelled a very foul smell. It's smelled like the worst b.o. or bad breath you can imagine. I actually picked up everyone's plate and smelled it. I was concerned someone would eat something bad. It was my husband's, chili mac. He took a bite of it before I could sniff things out and once he dug around there a little bit, he could smell it, too and said it tasted funky. Naturally, he sent it back. He ordered a grilled cheese instead (no meat - lol) and it took them the entire time for the other 3 of us to finish eating our meals, for them to bring out his sandwich. He wasn't going to eat it at this point as we were all done, so he got it to go and didn't eat it anyway. The scampi looked pitiful and I'm not a connoisseur of fish, but heard the cod wasn't great, either. My country fried chicken was probably the best out of all of them, but you can tell they use a canned gravy over the top. I was tasting salt and can in my mouth the rest of the night. It is cheap, but you get what you pay for, in this case. We promptly left and as we were walking out, we started to pass a couple who looked really confused when they walked in. I said to them, "You've never been here before, have you?" Because remember, the upstairs looks abandoned. The woman replied, "No" I told her I could tell, because we all had the same reaction, upon entering. I told them of our experience and they walked right back out. I will not be returning here. It's too bad, the space, with river front views could have a lot of potential to be something great, but not under this ownership.

It's difficult to nail this place down after one visit, but here's the gist of it: WEBSITE - If you're rating this restaurant based off of its classy web site, you'd probably give it one or two stars. This is not at all what it appears to be and I'd hesitate to order the expensive stuff... WALK-IN - If you're lookin' for a bar with a high-end menu, attractive waitstaff, and a scenic view of downtown Batavia and the river...then this is your place! We stopped in hoping for a romantic seafood dinner based off the web site and Toto quickly realized we weren't in Kansas anymore. It definitely had the feeling of a locals bar with construction workers on one end and tattoo friendly group at the other. Seating is just as it looks on the web site and appears to be "seat yourself". We adjusted our original plan for appetizers getting the shrimp dejohnge (chewy, overcooked and missing that garlic flavor I love with this dish), goat cheese marinara w/ toast points (tasted like can sauce only highlighted by the beauty that is soft goat cheese...and the toast points were a sliced baguette), and fried calamari (tasty and not overcooked...although I had to ask for lemon to season). Food came quickly and checkout was also just as speedy. I had hoped to come back after the movie to see how the atmosphere and yeasty beverages tasted, but that wasn't in the cards. Might head here with my boys for a fun evening, but not a go-to for eating.

This place was downright awful from the food, to atmosphere, to the pitiful bar service. One bartender on duty and the place was packed. No wait staff after 9pm. The tilapia was recommended, was cold and tasteless. The hamburger was also tasteless and dry. Was like bad cafeteria food. Lagunitas IPA on tap was old and flat. My boyfriend waited 20 minutes at bar to get a drink and came back empty handed after becoming completely frustrated. I gave it a try a little later and after waiting 20 minutes at the bar myself I finally got the bartenders attention by yelling at him. He seemed bothered that I only wanted one beer. Don't waste your time with this place.

As far as bars go in Batavia, I think this is one of the best. The downstairs bar is nice, and there is a large picture window behind the bar that overlooks the river. Decent drink and food prices.

I went to RendezVu as part of the pub crawl this past weekend and it was terrific!!! Awesome live music, a great atmosphere and some really solid service. Even with a hundred people inside the bartender never missed a beat! The restaurant was even donating some of the night's sales to charity which was very cool to hear. I'll definitely be back, hopefully to catch another band some time. So much fun!!!

A slightly higher-end menu at very reasonable prices. Rendez Vu is basically a bar and grill, but has steaks and a good seafood menu. They have a signature drink menu as well. Service was good, not outstanding, but efficient and friendly. Food was really good for the price. Definitely recommend it for a nice, but casual night out.

My husband and I have been here several times. It is in the basement of a hundred year old building. Your basic bar and casual restaurant. Service has always been good and the food has never disappointed. Nothing fancy or spectacular. But affordable and if you sit near the window you can see the river.

Groupon brought me here - This $22 Groupon was for 2 entrees and 2 beer or wine. It turned out to be a pretty good deal since you can order any of the beer (draft or bottled) and choose from the pasta, seafood, or entrée items. You don't even have to pay taxes if that's all you're getting. Rendezvu is located in downtown Batavia next to the river. When you enter the building, you'll be standing in the upstairs area where there's a pool table and a few places to sit. You have to go downstairs to get to the restaurant area. You can pick where you can to sit - at the bar, one of the tables or booths. There were more people sitting at the bar than having dinner at the tables when I came on a Wednesday night. Service was good. Our waitress was nice and we didn't have to wait long to get our drinks or food. Pesto Shrimp & Scallops $12 - This dish comes with a soup of your choice. The pasta was cooked well, but the dish was very bland. The scallops were meaty, but bland and sandy. Grilled Ribeye Steak with mushrooms and red onion $17 - This entrée comes with soup and a side. It was a small thin cut of ribeye that wasn't that tasty. Pizza Soup and French Onion Soup - Both were very good! The pizza soup was a nice tomato base soup with vegetables with cheese on top. Overall, the soups were good, but I wasn't impressed with the main dishes. Other offerings on the menu includes - shrimp tacos, fish & chips, steak, country fried chicken, schnitzel, pasta, burger, sandwiches, and pizzas. There's street parking nearby.

My husband and I have been here several times. It is in the basement of a hundred year old building. Your basic bar and casual restaurant. Service has always been good and the food has never disappointed. Nothing fancy or spectacular. But affordable and if you sit near the window you can see the river.

It's a bar and grill with friendly service. Tuesday $2 Bud, Wednesday, $1,50 Miller (bottles).

Sorry.
