Hands down, favorite pad Thai, ever. One of my top cheat meals for sure! Every time I go here, I order the same entrée: pad Thai with tofu, extra spicy. Not only is it great because they bring the heat (when requested), the pieces of tofu are huge. I've tried the shrimp cigars and egg rolls as well, both were good, but the pad Thai will be what keeps me returning. Portions are generous and I always have enough for lunch the following day. The restaurant is usually pretty busy and offers BYOB as well.

Oh my GAWD. I LOVE Thai food. And what I mean by that, is I love Pad Thai. I rarely eat Thai so when I do, I order the same thing. In my dreams, I'll eat Thai once a week (even once a month would be a good start) so that I can try other things. Anywho. A friend and I were in downtown Batavia and I mentioned Thai. She knew Thai Village had won awards, so we headed here. Perfect. It didn't feel desolate and unloved like many other ethnic restaurants. There was a large table there, and several other came in while we dined. POSITIVE: AMAZING food. We had crab rangoon that were very clearly homemade. We ordered lunch specials, which also came with a small egg roll (great) and soup - which was delicious. NOT-So Positive: Service. I probably pushed my luck, but it was very difficult for the server to understand my order. Pad Thai with Tofu and Shrimp. No, not just tofu. Tofu AND shrimp. Also,t he soup was luke-warm but the flavor was amazing. NEGATIVE: Leaving. Our water service was spot-on, and the servers were friendly, but when we finished, we waited for at least 15 minutes with no one walking by. I'm hoping it was a weird timing transition (as we saw our server leave without saying a word to us) but until I return, I can't say. I was also bummed we didn't get offered tea! I feel like that comes on the house at most other locations.

Ate here last night - restaurant was not very busy . Waited for a bit to be seated. Server was not friendly and not really rude - acted more like he was tolerating us. Not a super inviting feeling. Had the sampler platter appetizer- definitely had something for everyone. It was good. Daughter ordered the golden noodles. Wanted veggies and chicken and was promptly told she could only have one. Really? That was odd. Most places would say ok or maybe charge a small up charge - sort of surprised that wasn't offered. But, when she got the food, she said it was good ( she ordered it with veggies). Husband ordered the combo with Mongolian beef and rice. He said rice was good but beef was salty. I ordered curry and it was quite good. Restaurant closed at 9 pm and they turned off music before that. Did not offer dessert ( we were full anyway so that is ok). Definitely felt like we were being prompted to leave. So, overall decent food but not a particularly welcoming environment .

Tried Mongolian beef and pineapple fried rice sampler. Tgw pineapple fried rice has egg, loaded with veggies (fresh not over-cooked!) pineapple. Mongolian beef spicy but not toooo spicy. Will be back :)

Meh. Everything was just OK at best, and disappointing at worst. We had fried tofu appetizer (spongy), panang curry (lacking in flavor, odd coloring, very 'milky' as if not enough curry powder had been used?), pad see ew (this was ok - lots of broccoli and carrots, light on the noodles, but fine), and pad thai with shrimp (noodles were congealed into a large mass - very hard to separate, hard rather than springy, couldn't detect much of a peanut taste). We ordered the sticky rice with mango for a shared dessert and received half a mango - but the pit was left, meaning it was nearly impossible to eat/share, and very little mango actually provided. We were all disappointed - and for the price, really expected better. Based on other reviews of food, I wonder if it was an "off" night? We'll likely give it another change, but not for a while...

I went to try Thai Village for my first time ever trying Thai food and it was good (kind of reminded me of bland chinese food). I believe that I got something called the pick 2 and it came in the cutest serving dish!

I am always happy with the food here. Is very small, so if you go on Friday or Saturday, it's a bit tough to get a seat. Love the fact that's its BYO with no fees for uncorking, etc. The food is always so fresh, I always get a veggie entre, like Veggie Delight, YUMM! DH likes the curry, and if it says hot, it is HOT!!! So you can tell them to bring hot on the side and doctor it yourself. He also loves the Thai Coffee there, too sweet for me. I can't remember a bad meal, perhaps slightly sub par service on a busy night... Other than that, it our go-to for great Thai, and I have several friends that come from 15 miles away because they love the food!

I think this restaurant is coming into its own. Food is always fresh and delish. You can tell the servers care and try very hard, though they are sometimes disorganized and slow. Meals are served as they are prepared, so various meals are served at different times. Perhaps this is a culture thing, as I have seen it in other ethnic restaurants. I tried Thai village restaurant on a whim for the first time tonight. I was exhausted from a day with the Orkin man evaluating our carpenter ant situation along with my teething and ever growing 11month-old baby, so I wanted a fuss-free dinner. I walked in with my baby strapped to me in the carrier, and the hostess took my order of chicken satay, Thai iced tea, and green curry to-go. I paid after I ordered and they said it would be ready in 15 mins or less. They were true to their word. We went for a short walk to the Batavia river walk and back up the hill, and it was ready. Smelled amazing! Then we got home, I opened the bag to find the chicken satay, the green curry, and ... Wait a minute! Doesn't green curry usually come with rice?!? I don't know why it didn't come with my order from Thai village that came to over $20. But it didn't. That was disappointing. The next thing that disappointed me was the Thai iced tea. I've ordered this from other Thai restaurants, and honestly, they all taste a little different to me. But this one, it tasted like old coffee with lots of cream and sugar. Did not taste like tea. Lastly, the customer service, even for pick-up was not great. The hostess who probably did this job as a summer gig before school went back, seemed more interested in her group of friends that walked in the minute I was ready to order. Then the fact that she almost didn't hand me my iced tea before we left with the food was another disappointment. She seemed to give her table of friends great service though. So I know they're capable of friendly customer service. Just selective to their audience I suppose. I think there are better restaurants in the area with better customer service, and that do serve rice alongside their green curry. I ended up making my own rice b/c I couldn't leave the house after I put baby down for the night...hence the "fuss-free" dinner.

This is our favorite Thai place in the Batavia/Geneva/St. Charles area. I find the food always fresh and delicious, plus the service good. They take the time to make the food presentation pleasing to the eye. We take guests here quite frequently and have never been disappointed. My favorite is the Thai Spring Rolls and the Pad Woosen.

Good food I had tofu pad Thai and my daughter had yaki soba. It's a small restaurant but that adds to its charm. Our servers were very nice without being intrusive. Very nice small touches like silverware and nice glassware. We also had crab Rangoon's which were clearly home made and delicious.

Really disappointed by this place. 1. Cost of food was $10 more for the same order I would order at Tusk. 2. Person who answered the phone, Sean, would not let me pay him with a credit card by phone because he was "too busy" but when I went in there to pick up my food it wasn't that busy. 3. Most importantly--the food was awful. The pad thai was a lumpy noodle mess with no real flavor. The spring rolls were accompanied by a thick gelatinous sauce that was nasty. I have a Thai foreign exchange student living with us right now and he said it was pretty bad. I've had Thai food in Thailand and many Thai restaurants in the Chicago area and this was the worst I've ever had. I won't go here again ever. Tusk has kinder service, better prices and much better food.

Another Thai review???? My goal is a hundred so yes another Thai review What makes me a fan of Thai Village? They have chili oil, an oil with chopped dry red paper. That makes a serving of spicy fried rice w/chicken no vegetable extra spicy a premium top notch meal. Thai Village does not just get a four for the chili oil it does make a good spicy fried rice w/chicken no vegetable extra spicy. It's not in one of my routine drives but it satisfies the crave for Thai enough I'm willing to drive the 15 minutes out of my way, that should be a persuader. My lovely bride had the panang curry and she said it was good spicy but not to spicy (she's still in training when it comes to spicy. She liked the fact she could add the sauce using a ladle with holes (allowed her to control the spice, like I said she's in training, she's come a long ways, from the days of a dash of black pepper being too spicy) The service though carry-out was good, especially since the person did not frown but with a smile gladly exchanged my chili sauce for chili oil once I knew the had it and made it two with no sweat. I'm happy as I found a new Thai place!!!

Thai Village is a quaint restaurant located on the outskirts of downtown Batavia. Their Tom kha soup with chicken is by far my favorite item on the menu and of any I have ever tried. Pair it with some steamed rice and you have yourself a full, flavorful meal.

We have always dined at the other Thai restaurant in the area but decided to try Thai Village and found it to be quite good. The Tom Kha soup was delicious and the server actually listened when I said to make it spicy. My spouse had a veg dish, also quite good. The service was excellent.

A decent Thai restaurant, with reasonable prices. The atmosphere in an old downtown building is nice. I like Thai food, particularly spicy, a lot. Both my wife and ordered entres off the menu that had pepper symbols designating them as spicy. I had the waiter refill our water before the meals came in anticipation. However, neither dish had any zing. Both were tasty, but not what was expected. Service was not exceptional, probably due to the staffing of one waiter for a pretty full restaurant. I would head to Thai Zie noodle in St Charles rather than this Thai restaurant.

This place is weird. I've had great food and great service here. I've had blah food and blah service here. When it's good, it's really good. The pad Thai is usually phenomenal and their fried tofu is pretty damn good as well. I also suggest getting the curry fried rice. Me and my girl usually split e'rythang up between those three dishes though we have sampled a few other items on the menu. Nothing sticks out to me. One time while dining at the Vill', the food was just not up to par and on the same night I felt like we were being ignored by our waitress the entire time. We've never had any issues when ordering to-go, so I'd recommend you do the same if you're in the area and you're feeling like Thai.

Love the food, I think it's easily the best in the area. The service.....awkward. Like others mentioned, there is one waiter that we ALWAYS get that kind of creeps us out. Very womanly and kind of rude. Not judgmental, just made for an interesting dinner :) We LOVE the basil chicken. Definitely give it a go!

I wish this Thai place was good, as it's walking distance from my house. We've given it three tries (one dining in, two carry out) and it has been consistently terrible. The food is awful and the service is worse. Head down the hill to Tusk Thai and you'll be much happier!

My husband and I tried this restaurant after our favorite Thai restaurant, Thai Spice, went out of business in Aurora. Thai Village has decent food when compared to our old favorite. I enjoy their chicken pad thai. My husband likes their fried bean curd. We also order the fried calamari and it is very good. The service isn't the best, but the food was good. We've come back several times, brought our toddler and my mom and have all enjoyed the food. I give it 3 stars since it is pretty decent food-wise. If you've got a taste for Thai, it's not a bad place to try.

Dined here with my family last night. We just went on a drive through Batavia and ended up here. I actually wish I would have read the yelp reviews prior to stopping in, but hey here's to spontaneity. So my favorite Thai dish of all times is Pad Sei Ew and the best I've ever had was at Chi Tung, however it was pretty good here although we are accustomed to family style portions and these were smaller. We also had the appetizer combo and the terriyaki shrimp and scallops, the appetizer was AWESOME, the shrimp and scallops, not so much! The service left something to be desired as well, so we will not be returning. Dinner for 3, no drinks, including 1 dessert was almost 50 dollars and so not worth it. Cheers!!

I miss living across the street form here. I would just order and walk over and that's not why I liked it so much. The food was reasonably priced and pretty good too. Small little place to give it that romantic atmosphere but make sure you have a big appetite because they do serve a fair amount of food with an entree. I think the only thing this place needs it advertise a little more. They could do a lot better if they did.

atmosphere: dim, intimate, casual, contemporary but eclectic decor food: tasty, delicious, authentic. its pretty good for being in the far west suburbs. portions were average sized. service: we weren't asked how our food was til we were ready for the bill. one of the waitresses had an argument with her boyfriend in the dining room. our glasses were practically empty when one of the waitresses finally decided to give us a refill. price: we had chicken pad thai, (immitation) crab meat fried rice, shrimp shu mai and it cost about $30, without tip and drinks. overall, its a good place to go when you are looking for something different, food is delicious, service could be better.

This place is tiny. Service is ok, for not having alot of customers they can upgrade on service a little more, but I have to say this place has the best pad Thai so far in my area. My husband loves the Rama noodles, it is fried noodles covered in curry sauce in each bite its crunchiness and spice. One thing I like about my pad Thai is color and flavor, this does it. It can be a little pricey but it fills me ip. Tom yum soup is ok. Ive tried the to tom kha also, it's so so.

I find this restaurant to be very comparable to The Bangkok Cafe in Geneva. This atmosphere is nicer though. The curry is too sweet. It's like they dump sugar into it or something. Don't even try it. I went here a few months ago hoping it would be better because it is very close to where I live. It was just the same. Alas I am still on a quest for a world class Thai restaurant besides Arun's in the Chicago area.

If you're looking for a restaurant with impeccable service, this is not one of those places. In fact, you would like this place if you generally like to be ignored for the most part of the meal. However, if you're looking for delicious and authentic Thai food, then this is definitely one of the best restaurants amongst the West suburbs of Chicago. The seafood salad is tangy, sweet, and spicy, but don't count on it being consistent--that is, the type of seafood in the salad--the menu will tell you that it has shrimps, crab(imitation) meat, and squids(and some of the menus used to say it also comes with scallops and muscles), but if they're out of one or two of the seafood ingredients, don't expect the waiter to inform you of that and offer alternatives, they'll just whip up whatever else they have, and not necessarily giving you more of the ones that they have to make up for the lack of the others. Their Satay Chicken is tasty, and the chicken is tender and not dry. Tom Yum, the quintessential Thai soup, feels like a pretty good attempt, while I won't say it lacks luster, it can use some punch! Having been to Thailand and experienced real local authentic Thai food, I can say that the Tom Yum is much much more spicy--hot, really--than any of the Tom Yum I've never tried elsewhere outside Thailand--The Tom Yum at Thai Village just needs a couple more notches and it'll be there! Onto the entries. the Pineapple Fried Rice($8.95) is very favorful, just the right amount of salt to balance the citrus, not greasy at all. The Catfish Ginger($14.95) at the price it's offered, is practically a bargain--oftentimes the garlic sauce can overwhelm the catfish--especially when it's being fried and not steamed, but the amount of garlic in the wine sauce is just right, perfectly balanced. The Rama Noodle Delight is my favorite at Thai Village--especially on a cold winter night--it's rich and probably is high in fat, but it certainly does not taste greasy, the crispy fried noodle soaked in the red curry gives it such an interesting texture that it's almost fun to eat. I usually like my meal with some protein, but this dish is great with the vegetarian option with carrots, mushrooms, broccoli, tofu, etc. The Panang Curry and the Roasted Duck Curry are also delicious entries. If you like Thai curry, especially ones on the sweeter side, you'll enjoy these--the portions are between average to large, most of the time, we finish about 2/3 of the dish and have to pack home the remaining 1/3--we would have eaten only half the dish, but the food is so tasty that you just can't help but keep eating it! Cashew Delight reminds me of a Thai chef's version of a Chinese dish, and successful at doing so, if you're not into the whole curry thing, this and the Pineapple Fried Rice come highly recommended. Their Thai Tea is not bad, though I'd like it a notch less sweet--but I generally like not-so-sweet beverages, so keep that in mind. I won't comment on dessert as custard is one of those things that one either loves or hates and I just happen not to care for them regardless of how good they supposedly are. Almost all the dishes can be done with chicken/beef/shrimp/seafood/vegetarian/tofu and the price difference with these options are a few bucks. Ingredients have always tasted fresh--many restaurants that serve heavily favored food(curry, fried, spicy) use less-fresh ingredients as the strong favor/spice oftentimes mask the lack of same-day freshness. However, you can still taste the difference in the subtle change in texture and sometimes flavor as you chew through the food, and I have yet to experience a meal at Thai Village that's less than perfectly fresh! PS. They have 1 highchair for infant/toddlers and it's the one that you'll have at home(if you have no idea what I'm talking about, then this obviously does not concern you since you probably have never had kids) and it's first come first serve! PPS. I've seen people on dates there, I've seen small groups of 4-6, I've seen parents with screaming babies, I've seen famililies, and I've seen business suit types, so it's really not a restaurant catered towards any particular crowd.

Very good, maybe second best Thai food in the tri-cities, which has 5 reasonable contenders for that honor. The ancient building that houses Thai Village has some wear around the edges but if you appreciate older construction and massively high ceilings with updated decor you'll enjoy dine-in. If not, dine-out. Service varies but tends to the casual at best - which cost them a star. No other glaring flaws and excellent food at reasonable prices.

Awesome Thai restaurant. I liked the decor immediately, and the food was even more impressive. I'm a pad ke mao fan, and their pad ke mao was one of the best I have had. The flavor was perfect, as well as the portion. Also, there was a perfect amount of spice. I can tell they use really good ingredients, and care about the food they serve. On top of that, the waitress was really nice. Overall, a great experience. If you like thai food, I highly recommend this place. I look forward to going here again.

It's BYOB so bring a bottle! Small, nothing fancy, parking kinda sucks but it is worth it for the great food that comes out that damn kitchen! The crab rangoons are up there with the best and everything is served hot, fresh good portions, and just delicious for very fair price! All the curries are great, I highly recommend the panang curry with the fried wide noodles ;-)

I've been to this place three times and each time it was excellent. Everything is so flavorful and if you like your dish spicy, just ask and they will make it happen. The curry dishes are perfectly done, with just the right amount of thickness in the coconut milk. There are many option for noodle dishes that are delicious as well. (I always try what my husband orders) The shrimp cigar appetizer is wonderful and light and the chicken satay is quite good as well. The only reason I did not give them five stars is that the service is slow for the most part. I don't know if the kitchen is just slow or the server puts the order in late... Anyway, it's worth the wait because the food is outstanding.

I am picky when it comes to Thai food. It usually is made from inferior ingredients or is overly spiced to the point where it doesn't have a taste that is appetizing. I was very impressed here. The owner was so nice to me, and treated me with much respect. The food was fresh, had an amazing taste, and was attractively presented. I would come again in a heartbeat, and bring my friends and family!

Decent Thai food, but I'm sorry you're no Penny's. Prices are a bit higher than I would like. Food seemed pretty fresh at least and the best Thai option in the area we have found so far. The Pad Thai sauce was a bit disappointing but still good none the less. The exterior looks much nicer now that they recently redid it. Before, it looked a bit scary. Edit 7/26/14: I'm bumping them up a star because their Rama Noodle Delight dish is delicious. Even better when the noodles are extra crispy and not soggy. Late Fall 2014: They recently changed their prices since what was on their website wasn't apparently "valid" at the time I ordered. Online and over the phone gave me one price and then I was charged $3 more for my meal upon pickup. No offense but $17 for ONE take out Thai noodle dish is ABSURD! Its good but not THAT good. Likely won't be back...I've demoted back to 3 stars.

I took a chance, and we regret it. The atmosphere is VERY antiquated in an old building. It seems like a place awaiting to be turned-out by Gordon Ramsey on Kitchen Nightmares. My wife ordered the Pad-Thai, a Thai staple dish. We weer birth underwhelmed as it was more oily and salt than flavorful - we did not finish the meal. I ordered the Panang curry, another Thai staple. The curry tasted like it came from a bottle - very watery. Almost as though they had a base curry soup , and substituted it for the sauce. It made for a "bleh" lunch experience, regardless of the cost (it was lunchtime). There should always be a "red Flag" when you are the only patron in the restaurant.

Surprised to see so many negative reviews for this spot. After much consternation and many visits I have to say this is the best Thai food in the tri-cities. No disrespect to other local haunts but this place is the joint. Just had an amazing sweet and sour chicken and spicy garlic shrimp combo. My companion had the Pad Thai which she rightly claims is second to none. It is a cool little spot with great wooden wall art and a laid back atmosphere. A rare BYOB in the burbs is just the ticket as you stop up the street at Windmill Liquors and grab whatever winds your clock.

I've eaten here several times and absolutely LOVE everything I've ordered! We often start with the spring rolls in a delicious sweet sauce. My favorite is the pad thai w/ shirmp, but I douse it with their special hot sauce (a mixture of sweet chili sauce and something else). For those reviewers who comment on the awkward service and linguistically challenged staff...seriously, relax! You're being served phenomenal, traditional food from authentic family. Try and hold our American ignorance and enjoy the cultural immersion. :-)

I am SO upset to see how many bad reviews this place has. Granted, I generally order out instead of dine-in. That being said, the few times I have dined-in, the service was fine. Not stellar but nothing to complain about. I am also the type of person that doesn't like being bothered every 2 minutes while enjoying a meal, so it was ideal. I live in Chicago, but my family lives in Batavia, and I have yet to find Pad Thai I love more than that from the Thai Village! I always look forward to coming back and ordering in. I also just recently for the first time tried their vegetarian fried rice and it was to die for. I am still in awe. The flavor and texture was so unique and the vegetables were REAL and abundant and very fresh - there was even pineapple! Such a delicious touch. I have been to Tusk multiple times with my family as well, and the service was very slow, and the food was not as good. Can't wait to go back to Thai Village!

Absolutely outstanding experience I had at this restaurant; and quite frankly the best Thai food I have ever had. The atmosphere is also stunning; it's a nice quaint restaurant with great artwork inside and friendly staff. For appetizers, I indulged on their "pot stickers" which were scrumptious with the dipping sauce. I also tried some of their curry and the pad thai. This place is also a BYOB which is another great bonus. If your ever on the outskirts of the City (west suburbs) I strongly recommend this place for Thai food.

The place was merely OK. My girlfriend ordered a pad Thai that was rather mushy. The Thai iced coffees we ordered were not flavorful and not very creamy. My masaman curry was good. We went with 4 other people and I don't believe anyone completely finished their meal; not because the portions were little, but because no one was all too excited about how everything tasted. I've been to very good Thai places and this one is just good. Thai food is supposed to have a fresh taste with many ingredients added at the last second. The lack of cilantro, spicy basil, bean sprouts, and fresh vegetables in select dishes was disappointing. I give it a strong B+ for presentation though.

I'm shocked by some of the negative reviews on here. This place is great!! I live in the city and I'm disappointed by most the Thai restaurants there but I'm came out to the burbs and tried this place and was very impressed. Good atmosphere and food. I had one of the curry dishes. Also, the ice tea was AMAZING! Highly recommend this place.

Saw a MOUSE here when I ate with my parents last Friday. Yuck. and the food was OVERLY salty (and I love salt!). There are WAY better options in the area.

When I can prepare the same food at home with ease, the restaurant has failed. The red curry with chicken I had was readily identifiable as a curry from a jar. Not good. Not only was the food poor, but so was the service. Do yourself a favor and head up to Thai Zie in St Charles - only about a 5 minute drive North.

I like the atmosphere and friendly service here. Thai Village is in a 100-year-old building in downtown Batavia and makes good use of the space. It's intimate, well-decorated and inviting. I've had mixed experience with the service. Sometimes it's excellent, whereas other times it's slow and rude. The food here is a notch above average, though not spectacular. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes are large. Personally, if you're this far west from Chicago, I would recommend going one town over to Geneva and eating at Bangkok Restaurant, which is arguably one of the best Thai restaurants in the whole of sprawling Chicagoland.

Great restaurant with really affordable prices! At times the service can be a little off (i.e. something small lie forgetting to bring a drink) but otherwise pleasant and never rude.- the food is always amazing.

This a a great place. Don't listen to the reviews that are advertising for other Thai places. The food is consistently great here, the service is always friendly and I enjoy the atmosphere on the occasions we eat in. The Pad Thai is one of the best around, The Tom Ka and Tom Yum are delicious. I try to get something new every time I go, and most times I am blown away. One in a while I get a dish that isn't a spicy as I would like, even though I asked to make it spicy. Our teenage son, who has a very limited palate loves the sweet and sour chicken (it comes in a long boat!). Top it off with a thai ice tea and your good to go. It is BYOB, so bring a nice bottle of light, sweet wine.

Good thai food- just not great. I give it three stars because I have also eaten at Tusk Thai in Batavia and believe its just better. We shared the big sampler appetizer which was good but it all tasted the same- fried. Our table also ordered the Mussaman Curry, Basil Chicken and Pad Woon Sen. And the entrees were all very good. Prices are a bit higher than the other two thai places that I frequent.

The atmosphere at Thai Village (TV) is casual, fun, a throwback. The food was simple, but great. Prices (small) and portions (big) were ideal. Oh, and TV is BYOB, so bring some wine with you ASAP, OK. I won the night's contest, easily. My pot stickers and then Kung Pau beef rocked. My dark, sultry date for the evening went with the Szechuan Chicken... tasty, but no match. The TV atmosphere is so genial, my Peruvian beauty and I chatted for nearly 2 1/2 hours. Our snotty, effeminate waiter was so over the top, it was endearing. It almost felt like he was acting the part. He he. TV is genuine, positive and a find in Batavia. An easy 4 bill-stars. thai me... yow, bill PS - Did I mention the mango margaritas afterward? Ah, that's another story altogether!
