I had high expectations for this restaurant based on the reviews. We took the family out for a Sunday brunch in the early afternoon. I would really rate this place 2.5 stars, but I will round up as the kids loved it. Atmosphere is ok, kind of a noisy, diner type place. We were seated right by the food prep area, which was a hotbed of activity. Lots of clinking coffee cups. Drinks were subpar. I love coffee, and expected a breakfast place would have excellent coffee. I was wrong. I put flavored creme in to give the coffee flavor, and I like my coffee black. Not a good start. On the other hand, water and coffee was refilled often, and without having to ask. Good job on this front. Food is average, or below average. I had a skillet on hash browns. On a lark, I asked for Louisiana hot sauce when the waitress asked if we wanted any special sauces. I was so happy with my decision. I tried the skillet plain, and was struck by it's bland flavor. It became tolerable with the sauce. Ham, green peppers, onions, cheese, eggs on hash browns should have flavor. I made mine taste spicy, it was better than nothing. Other entrees we had included a chicken cheesesteak sandwich, (poor), waffle fries,(good), steak fries, (gross), avocado/bacon omelette, (ok), and another skillet, (my son ate it, so I guess it was ok). The sides of pancakes were good, with nice whipped butter and syrup. I will not return here unless the kids demand it. The food is not special, and the coffee should be avoided. Our server was very good, however.

Great reviews on the breakfast! But, my report is on the lunch and dinner. It was your average, decent meal. Example, sandwich, side of fries. Yippee. Just like every place else. I've left feeling satisfied, but nothing more.

This is the best Greek style breakfast place in the Fox Valley area. If you were looking for a Walker Brother's, Lou Mitchell's, etc style breakfast this is it for the area. They have great take-out server and do a great job of packaging it all up. It can get busy on the weekends.

I love love love going out for breakfast and Lumes might be my new favorite place near home since I heard The Manor closed its South Elgin location. They have all the usual breakfast offerings. I like their vegetarian omelet with a side of hash browns. I always get coffee and they are good at refilling it when I need it. They are very fast to bring out your food, and it's a pretty big place so you don't have to wait too long to be seated even when they are super busy. I've gone a few times and only had one pretty long wait and it really wasn't horrible. When I feel like going out for a good big breakfast or brunch, this place hits the spot perfectly.

One of the best egg white omelets I've ever had!

Great place! Big breakfasts, large lunches and portly patrons all make for a sumptuous selection!

Eh.. the food was OK. I thought I would give this place a try. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito A (the one with chorizo). It was alright. My wife had the California Benedict special, and the english muffin was dry. The hollandaise sauce tasted good, better than other places. The coffee tasted like cheap diner coffee. And to top it off, the coffee creamer that I used for my coffee refill was absolutely rancid. I lost my appetite after that. I wonder if that was left out of refrigeration too long. They were nice and took one of our coffees off of the bill. Perhaps I am so spoiled because Egg Haven in DeKalb is my regular breakfast spot. Lumes is average.
