Solid 4 stars - not out of this world, but very decent. Stopped in here on a Tuesday to try their 99cent hotdogs and also saw that every week day between 2-4 pm, the dogs are still 99 cents. That is a pretty good marketing idea - a place like Scooby's (2.99 hot dog which is identical to what I received here today) should probably take some pointers from Dogfather. Hot dogs themselves were "very good." Only one pepper on the hotdog. At 99 cents tho, I can't complain too much. Even if you came in here on an off time, the dogs are just $1.99 - which is still probably cheaper than their competitors like Portillo's, Scooby's, Frankie's, etc. This gimmick alone should be putting Scooby's out of business, as it is the same identical hotdog that Scooby's charges $2.99 for! I ordered an Italian beef which I would not get again, it was just "okay" at best. It was on a doughy Kaiser type hoagie roll, which I didn't care for. The beef itself wasn't that flavorful either, and probably not worth the $5.75 I paid for it. The sandwich may have been better had the beef been on a standard French turano piece of bread, who knows - it was similar to the kind of beefs you may make at home with deli-style beef and gravy and a bag of those cheap Kaiser rolls. Wouldn't get a beef there again. I would come back here during the cheaper hotdog time frames - they are very good. For that, I will recommend this place. I haven't tried their fries or other food items, but if you are looking for a great Italian beef, I couldn't recommend this place for those :) I will be trying the other food items. 4 stars.

This is a nice and clean little hot dog joint on RT.59 in Bartlett. I had the garlic cheesy beef today with fries and a drink. I'm a big fan of Portillos beef but I actually liked this version better. The menu ranges from burgers and dogs to beefs, chicken and gyros. The prices are reasonable too.

The Dogfather is alright in my book. We popped in for a quick bite and to meet up with a friend. I went with the Garlic Cheezy Beef, which is an Italian beef on garlic bread, and it was pretty good. I wish it wouldn't get wrapped up in foil if you're dining in because the bread became soggy, as did the Tater Tots, while waiting for my friend's order. Still, the sandwich had good flavor and my fiancé says their Combo Beef-n-Sausage is better than Portillo's version. We showed up on a Saturday right when they opened, so it was a bit chilly inside. Hopefully it warms up in the winter as they get things cookin'. The tables weren't very clean, so I ended up wiping one off with napkins before we sat down. It would have been too tight a squeeze for five in a booth but they have stand alone chairs available and a counter with stools.

I thought the food was ok, would I waste the gas again. Also PuT THE AIR CONDITIONING ON.. It was 91 degrees outside and it felt like a 100 degrees inside. I feel bad for the workers. And the owner pulls up parks his truck upfront like a douche bag... PuT the air on Mr.Hot shot.

Can't recommend. I've watched an employee pick up garbage and then walk directly to handling food without washing his hands. Seen employees throwing pitas which hit the side of food storage bins and then land on the counter before being used. I walked out immediately. The Italian beefs are served on the wrong bread. They use rolls that immediately turn to mush instead of French rolls. I don't understand this decision. It renders what could be a good sandwich an inedible mess. Strange.

I've passed the Dogfather many times en route to visiting my parents in Schaumburg, but never stopped. I finally did on Memorial Day (hey, lots of places were open!) but sadly they weren't. So today while sort-of in the area, I decided to stop by. I walked inside and noticed every table was taken (probably a good sign), so I placed my everything Chicago Style Hot Dog and small fries to go. I wasn't acknowledged as I browsed the menu, and I felt as though the cashier subconsciously was trying to rush me to order. This nameless cashier clearly had better places to be. Besides the scowl she wore and the look of boredom on her face, my entire interaction with her consisted of a conversation one might have with a child. "What would you like?" "A Chicago Style dog with everything, small fries, and a small drink, please." *Writes my order on the bag; "name?" "Heidi" *types in order on iPad.* "$3.91" *hands over money* "It'll be ready in a few minutes. *hands me my cup for my drink*" So I get my drink, and less than five minutes later, the girl calls my name, puts the bag next to the drink machine, and that was it. No "Thank you, have a nice day" or anything along those lines. Nada, zip, zilch. As a first time visitor, I was put off by her attitude. Maybe I caught her on a bad day, but regardless I felt like a burden and not a valued customer. I grabbed my order and made my way out to the car, not looking back. The fries were crinkle cut, piping hot, and perfectly salted. The hot dog came on a poppy seed bun, a good sized pickle spear, two thinly sliced tomato wedges, onions, mustard, celery salt, relish, and sport pepper. All ingredients accounted for. I was disappointed that there was only one sport pepper and the celery salt was applied to the pickle and not the hot dog itself (I usually take the pickle and eat it separately from the dog). The hot dog was good, but nothing spectacular. Their menu consists of the typical items you'd find at other hot dog joins; burgers, Italian beefs, Gyros, Maxwell Street Polish, pizza puffs, mozzarella sticks, etc. The prices for their items are fair, if not cheaper than you'd expect. They do have a menu for kids called "Little Pup meals" which includes the item of choice with a drink and tater tots. The restaurant was clean, despite all the people dining in. The only exception would be the extremely sticky floor by the pop machine, although that's a given at nearly every establishment. It was also rather warm inside, so I'm glad I didn't stick around to eat. Overall, the food is okay and the prices are reasonable, so it's worth stopping at if you're in the area, but don't make it your destination, as other reviewers have said.

Average and consistent. Sport peppers are unusually large and a bit different than most places - I usually get only one pepper per dog, so I ask for extras. Beefs Gyros and fries are good. Locals seem to think this place is the bomb, probably because it's thinly hot dog place in Bartlett. Nonetheless, I am thankful it's here.

I adore The Dog Father, I've been coming here for years. They do an excellent job with all of their food. 4 stars because: I only ever get one thin slice of tomato on my hot dogs! Otherwise it's perfect. The girl at the register seemed pretty rude to the line cools in the back. Don't get me wrong she definitely gets the job done efficiently, a friendly face would have made my experience a 5 date experience.

I walked in on a Tuesday (which if you've read two reviews, you know it's 99 cents hot dog day). The staff was furiously trying to clean tables and counters; I'm guessing large group had just left. Coming straight from the driving range, I headed into the bathroom and it was moderately clean. The floors were a little wet, there were some towels on the floor. I guess one of them should have checked the bathroom too. I stood alone at the counter for a good two minutes before someone stopped cleaning and helped me out. I guess I admire their dedication. Anyway, I ordered two dogs and a drink. I went with lemonade as I never drink Pepsi products. The dogs was of good quality, as it was steamed well and the roll was warm. There was a good ratio of toppings as none of them overpowered any of the others, which sometimes happens. Two complaints: the dogs are steamed and I prefer grilled. Also, there was only one piece of tomato. Maybe that's for budget reasons, but dog gone it, I want my tomato all the way through my hot dog! I would consider returning as it was an ok experience. Not bad, not great. Just good.

Blargalargalargalargalaahhhh. sorry that was my interpretation of me gorging myself on the cheesie garlic beef. Good place to pick up a quick meal!

This place is deceiving. You think it's just another hot dog joint but when you go in you will see a huge menu to choose from. Their food is delicious. You have many items to choose from on their menu. Their staff works fast and is very courteous.

Tonight I was driving home and I saw The Dogfather Restaurant for the first time in years. This place was the BOMB when it first opened 9 yrs ago. Now this place is just horrible ! ordered 2 Gyros with everything on them with extra sauce. TO GO..... when I got home the meat was all burnt and it was so salty. For the extra sauce.. It was all watered down. I would never ever go into this place ever again. If the owner doesn't care about his staff that makes his food why should we go there.

    (1)
  • Ashley L.

My boyfriend and I come here almost every Tuesday. They have a friendly staff and the service is impressively fast. I like the fact that they take your name for the order instead of numbers very organized. The food is also nice. 99cent hotdogs every Tuesday is the best. The only thing I would say to improve is more seating availability. Usually whenever we come in there's never any seating available.

  • JP P.

This place is Money! Albeit not for the reason you may think! Ownership was on their game choosing a location, the only hot dog joint around. Also a brilliant marketing tactic selling .99 cent dogs on Tuesdays and between 2 and 4 weekdays. Sell average food by "Volume" and they will come! I am a living testimonial, a repeat customer for over 5 years. If I happen to be in the area, it crosses my mind. This is strictly a convenience stop and definitely not a destination. I do not wake up in the morning, jump out of bed, scratch, open the curtains to view a perfectly cloudy morning and proclaim "This is a Dogfather kinda day" Nope. Now for the details. Granted this is a "Nit-Pic', but one of substance. The Dogfather considers itself an upper echelon Dog Joint. Such a place would be consistent with prep and detail of food and not focus on the Black and White pictures on the wall and the paint color behind them. Serious Hot Dog Joints know this, thus the focus on detail: Upon ordering a Chicago Style Hot Dog, I may ask "What brand of dog do you serve"? I've received answers that run the gamut. The best is the "deer in headlights" cashier interaction "don't know". I have been eating Chicago Style Dogs enough to know that hot dog reviews on Yelp are over the top, or just plain boring. This is my best rendition: "The poppy seed bun is steamed properly however the Vienna Beef or Red Hot Chicago Dog was placed a tad off center in retrospect! Ouch! Quite possibly a result of yellow mustard drenching the northern portion of the bun exclusively. The vegetable garden presentation raised an eye brow. The sweet onions where chopped small allowing the scant relish population to remain competitive. Such a battle. The two tomato slices were thin and a bit withered. I actually felt some compassion. The thick pickle spear complemented the single over sized sport pepper, an unwanted comparison". Yes, a compelling read. Lets talk about the Beef Sandwich. Good thing, they offer the option of serving on garlic bread. Bad thing, served on a thick bun tasting like dough. Your first bite of a classic Chicago Beef should taste "Pure Beef", not bread! Bottom Line, It's tough to be a little dog.

  • Craig B.

Always good. Typical burger and hot dog place but they also have a great fresh grilled chicken pita that is one of my favorites. The hot dogs are well prepared Chicago style complete with sport peppers. Everything is affordable and a very good value. The perfect price to and even better value proposition.

Love the name. I went there a few days ago around 1:30. There was no line walked up to counter and the girl was sitting down lookin at her phone. I ordered the days special Italian Beef. Food came out quick I went to sit at one of the booths but it was dirty. Tried another one same thing. So I got a few napkins and clean the table and seats. Beef was ok bread was very good. Beef didn't have much flavor. I would try them again they might of been busy before I got there.

Delicious food! Their homemade honey mustard sauce is my FAVORITE! Quick service, awesome food! I recommend anyone in the Chicagoland area to come check them out - even if you're out of town, stop by for a quick bite to eat. They serve good sized portions as well!

  • Craig O.

Very average for a chicago type hotdog stand. Goto scoobys or portillos instead.

  • Bonnie E.

I have wanted to go here since I watched the Best of Chicago-best of 59 review for it. I drove all the way from north Naperville and it was well worth the drive. The Maxwell Street Polish was delicious. I love the way they put knife cuts on one side so that the grill makes it crusty and carmelized. YUM! Cant' wait to try the hot dogs!

  • Dale L.

The Restaurant is clean and the serivce is really good. The Chili cheese dogs are a little in the small side, but really tasty. The Cheese is not some thing resembling Velvita and has a nice flavor. The fries are fantastic and a large bag is the way yo go if you're HUUNGRY. The Gyro's a huge and difficult to finish in one sitting. Nice place for a weekend lunch!

  • Jacob D.

Came back for round 2 to give them a shot. I was right the first time. I hate when they let you down like that :) If you're trying to get die soon or need to put on weight quickly (for a movie role or whatever!) disregard my comments and come here often :)

    (1)
  • Amanda S.

These hot dogs remind me of what you get in the city. On Tuesday's they are 99 cents which makes the appeal even larger. They have crinkle-cut fries which are some of my favorite. The regular is enough to share, tons of fries included in your order!

    (4)
  • Timothy M.

I'm giving the Dogfather 5 stars based on what I go there for, and it's simple. You can't beat 99 cent hot dogs on Tuesdays. Their hot dogs are perfectly reminiscent of chicago dogs, perfectly steamed. And obviously the price can't be beat. I also love their crinkle cut French fries. No need to order a large, even the regular size can be shared!

  • Matthew N.

I guess i could buy bad frozen food from walmart and put it in a microwave and it would be the same. 15 year olds with a bad and rude attitude take the orders, poor service. Better food next door...

    (1)
  • Jaryd C.

I could open a restaurant too if I used a microwave and frozen food, the counter girls were rude and very unprofessional ,some how it was 30 dollars for 3 items never going here again. Stay away go to north of the boarder

  • Cristy S.

Food is priced well; gyros are the best I've tried, fries aren't anything to rave about but they're not bad, hot dogs are good. Definitely a place to try.

Always the first stop when I get off the airplane! Dogfather is the place where I know I will run into the best locals around and enjoy the best hot dogs, gyros, chicken sandwiches, and French fries in Bartlett. The service is quick and the staff is phenomenal! Tony, the owner, is quick to help out local organizations and has an incredibly tasty catering menu!

  • Jodi W.

I've tried and tried to like this place. I just can't dig it. I love Portillos and the whole Chicago dog thing, But... The positive - 1. the owner is awesome and friendly, always remembers my boys and I when we come in; 2. My boys like the gyros and they have lots of meat on them; 3. Prices don't suck, too bad. The negative - 1. The entire place needs to be scrubbed with a Mr. clean wall eraser. The tables are sticky and dingy, there are visible dark marks from hands on the white restroom doors... So what does the kitchen look like? 2. The cheese sticks, what the heck? No sir, we don't like 'em! 3. The fries are REALLY average. No taste unless they're buried in salt; 4. Nothing special about the hot dogs, I make much better at home... Not worth it, even at 99 cents

    (2)
  • Andrew N.

Not the best Chicago dogs but pretty good. The menu is pretty cheap and service is fast.

    (4)
  • Shelbs R.

I loved their gyros!!! So good!!! Its a nice place to go eat! I have never sat down cause its so busy. I usually eat in the car but its very good!

    (5)
  • Gus I.

Family owned I think so I'll give them credit for that but rude people when I went in I felt rushed to order and hate it when employes and managers TEXT while at work Keep driving past this place portillos a few miles away on north AV.

    (2)
  • Bryant H.

PROs: Inexpensive, Better than Portillos, Quick service CONs: A bit hot inside Ordered the Italian beef with a side of fries. The portion of the fries is huge! The fries by itself is a meal of its own and ended up having to pack it home with me. Overall the meal was delicious and would stop by whenever I'm in town.

    (4)
  • Matthew M.

The "Italian Beef" at Dogfather is no more than processed deli roast beef with a little bit of bland gravy. I can't believe a fast food joint in the Chicago area would serve such a terrible version of our most iconic sandwhich. The pizza puff I got was lukewarm at the center too. Bleh

    (1)
  • Kerri L.

Yummy hot dogs and gyros. The gyros have a TON of meat, it's awesome. I'm one of the few people that don't like the mozzarella sticks. It's probably because i'm a filthy heathen.

  • Karen D.

We love the Dog Father. The guys who own it are very supportive with the community with little league and school fund raisers. The service is quick and friendly. The menu is limited but that's because everything is good! All your basic Chicago style fast food- but fresh and delicious and always consistent. I like the chicken pita. It's grilled and one of the healthier options! If course you can't resist stealing fries from your kids! Overall, it's a great spot to grab a quick lunch or dinner. Always kids in there in their sports uniforms and most of the time you run into someone you know!!

The Godfather trilogy is among my all-time favorite movies. I absolutely hate crying and try to avoid it at all costs, but the tears poured when I saw the finale. Oh, Al Pacino.. vimeo.com/62591294 So it was fated that I would try this place out just based on its name. 10" garlic cheesy bread ($6.95) - 4.25 stars. 4 stars for taste, 5 for value. Colossus of a beef sandwich. Way better value than Portillo's, free sweet & hot peppers if desired (which I always do haha). Bread that stands up to the weight and breadth of all that meat. The meat wasn't as juicy/tender as I remembered when I tried it last (June 2013). Chicago-style hotdog ($1.99, or $0.99 on Tuesdays) - 4.5 stars, 5 stars on Tuesdays haha. Very good, but not the best hotdog I've had or among my top favorites. I'm more into dogs with a snap and/or char. Other than that, pretty darn perfect for a Chicago-style hotdog. Soft bun & well-proportioned toppings. Overall, an affordable neighborhood fast food joint good for if you're in the area.

  • Noe S.

Stopped in for a quick lunch. It was fairly dead inside which made for no wait. Ordered a hot dog and fries. It was ok. The hot dog itself was good. My bread seemed a bit dry, led me to believe it was an old bun. I will stop by and try the rest of the menu soon.

    (3)
  • Brian C.

Great place, great food. Community minded owner, which is very cool. Small, cramped dining area, but most hot dog joints are this way. So many good choices to eat here, but I usually end up getting hot dogs.

Used to like. Went in one day. Husband needed to use the restroom. Saw one of the cooks in bathroom not wash his hands after going. Left. Never to return. If you think it was an isolated thing you'd be wrong. 2 other people told me the same thing !

We visited the Dogfather on Sunday, 6/29. My husband had visited the day before and raved about the Maxwell Street Polish and said we had to go back. We visited at approximately 1:00 PM. There was a bored-looking girl at the counter who barely acknowledged our presence when we arrived at the counter to place our order. We gave her our order, which she wrote on a paper bag. She rung up our order and when we paid via debit card, she did not provide a receipt, say thank you or anything else. She just picked her pen up again and looked at the person behind us. We decided to eat in the restaurant, which was a mistake. All of the tables were dirty and there was a general mess on the floor in front of the beverage machine. It did not appear that it was in anyone's job description to keep the dining area clean. I was afraid that I was going to slip in the spilled soda in front of the beverage machine. The straw that broke the camel's back was the women's restroom. The soap dispenser was broken. To me, this was a red flag as far as the cleanliness of the restaurant as I began to worry that the staff may not be washing their hands. The final issue was that the bored-looking girl at the counter was also texting on her phone as we left. While the food itself was acceptable, I won't be going back. I can't take any more chances that there is sub-par food service practices going on at this establishment.

Awesome. Simple, affordable, clean, fast, tasty , and to the point. This is a no frills fast food place with a funny owner and fast as hell service. I drove by this place noticing something peculiar: The quiznos and chinese restaurants next to it we really empty and this place had a line and a crowd packed inside. This was obviously a good sign so I stopped in for a bite. Standard portillos style fast food joint: Beef, hot dogs, fries...etc. Prices were great and the place was clean. I got the: Garlic Cheesy Beef sandwich 6 inch (6 bucks): COMPLETELY worth the price. This thing weighs in at like 2 pounds! Its basically an Italian beef sandwich (dripping wet with au jus), with cheese. I got sweet and hot peppers (WHICH WERE FREE BTW!) and it came 4 minutes later. The cheese was totally melted with chunks of sweet peppers in it. Hot peppers were on the side which I like. Though I couldn't taste any garlic this sandwich kicked ass nonetheless. Fries: Skinny crinkle cut fries. If you like portillo's fries these are basically those but skinnier and thinner. Really crunchy though. Drink: Fountain drinks..nuff said. Overall I'm definitely going to be a regular here. They have daily specials which are unbeatable like 99 cent hot dogs on Tuesdays! If you want a fast, high quality, affordable bite this is your place!

The food is great. Very nice and clean place with a nice menu. The only thing about the place I didn't like was the system they use to give you your food. They ask your name and write it on the bag. Then they call your name when your food is up.well there happened to be someone else there with the same name causing major confusion , and the girl behind the counter needs to learn her job better. After waiting for twenty minutes, I asked where my food was and she said it is place here in the pick up area on the bottom . No apology nothing.hopefully tony keeps a better eye on his staff.i think the number system would work a lot better for this place .

The Dogfather is a great family owned restaurant with homemade recipes for traditional Chicago-style hot dogs and Italian Beef sandwiches that readily distinguishes it from some of the more well known chain restaurants in the Chicago suburbs. Instead of ordering the hot dogs, though, I would recommend splitting a Garlic Cheezy Beef and a Gyro with a friend for lunch.

Great place for this fare. My wife loves the chicken on a pita sandwich (with honey mustard) and I love the combos. Very friendly place. Good people here.

We have only been to the Dogfather one time, but I enjoyed it all the same. There were several things I liked about this location. First, we showed up only about 15 minutes before closing time- but the employees were all polite and friendly anyway (might have helped that we were taking our food to go). The restaurant was incredibly clean, even after an entire day of business. The owner/manager was also present, and he was chatting with his employees and the customers. I could tell that everyone working there enjoyed his company, and he appeared to genuinely care about his employees- even lending a hand during the closing. We each had the gyro, which was delicious and tons of food- didn't even need to sample the fries because I was full. We've been by here on other days- and when there is nice weather the line is out the door. Seating is limited, but it is definitely a location we will try again in the future.

Dogfather is a clean, hot dog joint located off of Route 59 in Bartlett. They have a fairly wide menu of available menu items, but being the hot dog critic I ordered a hot dog. The hot dog I received came on a nice soft poppy seed bun, it had a noticable amount of celery salt, well applied relish and mustard, sport peppers, and two little tomato slices. The pickle was sliced thinly though was still a bit more sour than I like. Everything was applied well, it was a little light on onions but they were definitely present and their flavor shined through. The dog itself had a nice flavor to it, it was well cooked with all the flavor intact. This was a textbook example of how to make a Chicago style hot dog well. Everything had a great flavor and I have no real complaints about the hot dog, only noticing slightly less than usual onions, a little more celery salt than most places, and a long and thinly cut pickle. I also tried the tater tots, the tots I received were nice and crisp with a good flavor. I didn't grab a menu but my total for two hot dogs, tots and a drink was around $6.50. Considering the price this place earns five stars. This is also the best example I've found of Red Hot Chicago branded hot dog served by a restaurant.

I come here at least once a week since my work is within walking distance. I ALWAYS get the Garlic Cheezy Beef sandwich! Great food, great portions, reasonable prices and fast service! I'm literally in and out within 5-10 mins and I go right at the lunch rush.

Today had a taste for a Gyro.I usually go to a different place Big Sammy's for it. Sammy's may have lost me as a Gyro customer.Dogfathers gyro had great taste and was packed with more meat than I've ever gotten from Sammy's . Not over cooked as I've had at Sammy's. The hotdogs are worth the trip as well. Nice staff running this place.

My family loves The Dogfather! I can't blame them really...it's good, fast food. My son can't get enough of the mozzarella sticks. They aren't "normal" sticks. They are sooooo much better. It's a flour tortilla rolled up with cheese inside and deep fried. He doesn't even bother with the marinara sauce. (Don't worry, it doesn't go to waste around here.) The gyros are at the top of my hubby's Must Have List. He rarely finishes the sandwich because it is so large. He also likes to nibble on the french fries. Nothing extraordinary - BUT, they are fried correctly. They aren't overly greasy or overly salted. They are crisp and just right. Finally, my favs... The Italian sausage and beef combo sandwich is delicious. The sausage is seasoned really well. I thought it was possible that they make their own sausage, but my husband insists that I am wrong. Honestly, I can't bring myself to ask. It's good. That's all that I know for sure. The onion rings are beer battered, not breaded with that crumbly, crunchy stuff. Those are mighty fine, too. Finally, I am a fan of their burger. I like it cooked a bit on the well side with crispy bacon. It's a good size and I usually don't finish it. Take the time to head in for lunch or dinner. It's a nice break from all the pizza in Bartlett. ;-)

Food: Fast, affordable, and simply good! Staff: SO NICE. I spilled my full cup when I placed it on top of my car. They saw and stepped out of the restaurant with a fresh cup waiting for me! No charge! Other: Not a big deal, but I had my dog with me that day. No dogs are allowed in the place (understandable), but it be would nice to have little table and a couple of chairs outside. :)

Tony and his crew knock it out of the park! Great food, consistent quality and great service. How do you do it with those french fries? I love the hot dog - gotta have a hot dog, but not before the great grilled chicken pita! Outstanding!

Had my daughters 30th birthday party catered by the Dogfather. I would highly recommend them for any event. They were reasonably priced & gave me a 10 percent discount I wasn't expecting. We had Italian beef & sausage, chicken, pasta & salad. Delivery & setup was right on time. I didn't think the beef was the best I have had but it must have been good as there was very little left over. I will definitely use them for my next event.

I haven't reviewed this place yet? Weird. I've had a cheesy garlic beef sandwich, their fries, and their gyros here. It is very easy to go wrong with any of those things. The fries could be greasy and floppy. The beef sandwich could be flavorless, or sopping wet. The gyros could be dry and forgettable. But none of those things apply here. The fries are always hot and crisp. The cheesy garlic beef was flavorful and meaty. And the gyros the last time around were moist. Plus, they always get my order right. At some point I'm gonna try their dogs, since it's in their name. But I'm more than willing to rate them highly based on what I've already had. As far as I know, it's the best fast food joint in Bartlett.

We passed this place the other day after going to Home Depot. After checking out Yelp reviews, we decided to give it a try last night. It was a pretty solid meal. I would say it's comparable to Nana's and Portillo's. We ordered our food to go. I got a chili dog and onion rings and a side salad, and my husband got a chicago dog and fries. Our total came to $13. My husband said his Chicago dog was good (just like Portillos) and the fries were just ok. He wasn't expecting crinkle-cut fries, I think. My chili dog was solid--I liked the chili they used on it--flavorful without being psicy, just how I like it. The actual hot dog seemed very small, though. It did have a good snap when you bit into it, though. The dressing used for the side salad was really good, and the salad was decent sized as well. Now for the onion rings. They had a good flavor, but they didn't have that crunch I usually like in my rings. Also, when I bit into the first one, hot oil came out and absolutely scalded my tongue. I'm not even exaggerating--it's RAW today. It hurt SO badly last night, too. So boo for that! I can't wait to go back and try their chicken gyros, though! There were also some other things on the menu I would be interested in! It was really hopping in there, too--lots of little leaguers who must have just gotten done with their games. But I do hope this place stays around for a while. It was pretty solid.

Updated to add the catering experience. We got Beef and Meatballs for New Years Eve. The Meatballs were out of this world, so much so, that we may get a tray in the future just for a weekend. The beef was also great. Tony made sure to give easy directions on making sure everything was prepared properly. We will be using them again, without a doubt.

I am the afficianado of Hotdogs. Before eating hotdogs on a daily basis was anti-cholesterol, I couldn't get enough. However, if you are going to go to the dark side, this is THE PLACE to go for a great hotdog. The staff is friendly and very accomodating. The hotdogs are prepared the way a Chicago Hotdog is SUPPOSE to be. Served on a steamed, poppy-seed bun and filled with a Vienna brand hotdog. The toppings are generous and appropriate. The french fries and very abundant, fresh and crispy. No soggy fries here. Soft drinks are self-dispensed so refills are at your leisure. The interior is bright, cheerful and well themed around the "DogFather" movie. It is clean and quite often it's common to find the owner cleaning tables and chatting with the customers. All in all, this is an excellent p[lace to have a great hotdog and many other delicious items offered on their extensive menu. Bon Appetite!!!

The best hotdog and gyro joint in Bartlett. I recommend trying their Garlic Cheesy Beef Sandwich and their Mozzarella Sticks. Their mozzarella sticks are so unique because the mozzarella is wrapped around a tortilla and then fried. They're addicting.

What sold me on this place was the email I received in the morning from yelp talking about the tater tots. I am not in the area of this place on a daily basis but for some reason fate took me right past it while driving to a work location. It was ment to be... I had the gyros and tater tots. I was a happy camper after that. I originally planned on hitting White Castle for lunch...It's a good thing I did not hit the delete key on this email. I will be back! .99 hot dogs every Tuesday all day and every day from 2pm - 4pm.

Top notch burger/dog spot. Never a bad meal. Good prices. Clean and fast service. Btw...the cashier Emily is smokin hot. I wish I lived closer to this place and could enjoy it more often. I love the specials too.

Oh man, three dogs in the last two weeks- that's a bit much for me, but when I saw the sign for this I just had to give it a try. The place is about the size of a Quiznos or Subway. Plenty of seating at 12:45 on a Tuesday. Since I had the "Regular Dog" (which around here means "Chicago Dog") the last two times (minus the pickle and peppers, so I'm not sure what to call them - um, a hot dog?) I went with the chili cheese dog. I've pretty much decided I'm not eating fries any more (unless from Burney's in Auburn, CA) so I got the tots. Decent dog, nothing spectacular. I was hoping for meaty chili and grated cheese but got a bit watery chili and cheese sauce. The tots were a nice alternative, but again nothing spectacular. Diet Mt.Dew on tap was a nice find - pretty rare at these type places. Lots of stuff other than dogs, very good service and clean place. No reason to not go back and try something else.

I don't know when Dan B. was here last, but it definitely is not a clean place to eat. Everything is dirty (tables, floors, walls, condiment holders, etc.) Food is OK. It has a good grilled chix breast on pita bread. Fries are frozen not fresh. For a great dog, brat, gyros etc. try Dante's on Rt. 31 just north of Algonquin Rd. He knows what he is doing & is friendlly & courteous.

Good Chicago style hot dogs, beefs, burgers and gyros. The service is fast and friendly and the food is always hot and tasty. Every Tuesday they offer 99 cent hot dogs. Great deal and good food.

Nice little hot dog & sandwich shop. I especially like the bright red & yellow reminding me of ketchup & mustard. Although my husband likes to remind me that, "nobody, I mean nobody, puts ketchup on a hot dog.". So sue me, I like ketchup & mustard together in blissful harmony on my dogs. Anyway... Even though they do have a brisk lunch business I never felt rushed. The staff is cheerful and the service is quick. Our food was ready lickity-split and our fries and Chicago-style dogs were piping hot. Their menu is small but they are a hot dog place so it's to be expected. They have a specialty and don't venture far. I like how you can get a small side salad instead of fries. A nice option if you don't plan in wolfing your meal down in your car. And any place which has Diet Mt. Dew as a beverage choice gets extra points by me. Oh, and they have free refills.

The Dogfather is a little hotdog joint in Bartlett. It has daily $5 meals which includes fries and a small drink. It is a great deal! On Tues, they off $0.99 hotdogs! What much more can you ask for?! The menu is very affordable. Great for a quick lunch! My favorite things to get here are: - Polish - Gyros - Italian Sausage - Cheesy Garlic Beef Sandwich - Cheese Fries Those are MUST TRY!

Too often am I driving back home to the burbs from the city the morning after going out and I need something to eat. Something with the right amount of grease and flavor to get me started on what will inevitably be a wasted day of sitting around. My mind usually wanders...something quick...Taco Bell? Nah, my stomach will be even worse off. Wendy's isn't too bad... But whenever I reach route 59, it hits me. The Dogfather is nearby. What I originally thought was a dog grooming place, The Dogfather serves some of the best Chicago fare in a clean, friendly environment. Oftentimes the owner is there, making sandwiches with the rest of the crew. Service is quick, which is good considering how popular the place gets during lunchtime. Gyros, hot dogs, and Italian beef are all on the menu, along with their signature Garlic Cheesy Beef...an Italian beef with cheese on garlic bread. So sick and so good. Personally, I go for their Italian beef with cheese and giardiniera along with a side of cheese fries. Definitely worth a stop if you're traveling down Route 59.

  • Jae K.

I've only been in there once, but I would definitely go back and try the rest of the menu. I had a Chicago-style hot dog which was delicious. The staff was lively and super friendly. The service was pretty fast considering how busy it was. The interior is bright with yellow and red, decorated with black and white posters and photos. A nice contrast.

Seeing that The Dog Father has the city of Barlett by the you know what because he has no competion I think I might open a hot dog stand there and show those people what a true Chicago hot dog should taste like. The food was ok but I know I could do much better than that.

  • Dave G.

What a great name....and the dogs are killer. Fantastic dogs and fries, and the large fry is a huge bag I seem to finish every time. Oh, the tots are pretty good too. The cheese sauce is where it's at though....get a side of it and put it on everything. They have like $.99 dogs on Tuesdays...i think. Crazy. If you're in the area and crave a great Chicago style dog, this is the place. Side of cheese.

A not-your-typical fast food hot dog and beef place. Between the four of us, we ordered chicken gyros, cheese fries and combos (sausage and beef). Yummy! Not only yum yum, but the meals weren't greasy at all. Inside is an Italian motif with, of course, a creative design of a dog as the "Godfather". Very original place. The chicken gyros are of the hook!

Ah, the life of a mafioso. Even though there are pictures of the Godfather, it ain't a secret gathering place or drug-smuggling back room operation. Just a place to get something good to eat ;) The food is simple but great. The italian beef sandwich comes in two sizes: 6" and 10" long. The 6" may not satisfy all so for a $1.50 more you might as well go for the 10". You could smell the aroma of the beef as soon as you unwrap the aluminum foiling. Mmm. But the place does have its faults. The italian beef is for my dad and I'm not a fan of the stuff. So I bought a Grilled Chicken Sandwich. It's small, like the size of the one you get at McDonald's value menu, but these guys charge around $7 for the meal. Also, their small fries are really small, just like Mcdonalds. So for the money it doesn't really fill you up. It would be nice if they could make both bigger, but at least the taste is good. So if you crave italian beef it is well worth buying from here. If you want anything else, well, it may not be worth the price.

Nice hot dog joint! Happened upon it while travelling down Rt. 59 on the way to Bloomingdale. I had the Chicago dog with everything and fries. Very delicious and done the right way with a poppy seed bun. The wife had a tamale and onion rings, which were delicious. Fast, courteous service that had us back on the road in no time. They have a Yelp sticker in the window, so stop on by Yelpers and support this nice establishment.

Thank GOD we have the Dogfather in Bartlett. It's exactly what a restaurant should be. Excellent food, clean restaurant, friendly/professional staff. My only problem with it is that EVERYONE I know now goes there so I can't pop in on a weekend sans makeup and in grungy clothes - last time we were there I saw my mailman AND our next door neighbors! Ah, it doesn't really matter - that's the kind of place Dogfather is - you're appreciated for your business and that just isn't heard of that often anymore. Make sure you get a dog with the works and a side of onion rings - those onion rings are addictive!!!

Probably one of the best places to get good food in Bartlett! The Dogfather is a great place to get away from regular fast food in Bartlett. Forget the McDonalds down the street, or even the crappy Sonic, The Dogfather's hot dogs top my list over those big chains any day. The place is simple and clean. That's all that's necessary. I've never had to wait to get food, and I've always been greeted cheerfully. Here's to Bartlett's top food joint.

We stopped in for a late Saturday lunch after a visit to BAPS. The service was ok (the cashier could have been happier) but all in all the food arrived relatively quickly. I got the cheezy garlic Italian sandwich which did not really taste like garlic. The meat was just ok. I think Portillo's still beats everyone else I have tasted so far and if Portillo's can beat you then you are doing something wrong. The fries were blah. They were dry but almost tasteless to me. The rest of the group liked the fries. A couple in our group liked their meal (chicken sandwich and gyro) and the rest of us just thought it was mediocre. The restaurant is bright, spacious, and clean so no complaints there and there is one tv. There are better places.

I'm somewhat embarrassed to admit this, but I drove by the Dogfather for 2+ years before realizing it wasn't in fact a pet supply store. Having eaten at the dogfather a few times now, I realize that if I had taken more than a cursory glance in the store instead of just speeding by, I would have known this fact far sooner. Not because of the lack of sad-eyed puppies begging me to take them home, but more from the unmistakable yellow-mustard color lavishly adorning most of the walls throughout. There's no mistaking the color. It is definitely mustard and it helps this strip-mall storefront spread it's hot-dog goodness out onto IL-59 if you're looking for it. The other choice of color on the wall is an interesting one. It's red. Fire-engine red. Corvette Red, and dare I say it... Ketchup red? Say it ain't so. It can't be. Granted, the Dogfather is 35+ miles west of the city of Chicago and it's far from a law, but the understood rule for all Chicago Style dogs is this: mustard only. No ketchup. Though he's a New Yorker referring to his favorite NY hot dog joint, I'm going to quote Anthony Bourdain on this one, as I believe he properly summarizes the sentiment for the Chicago-Style Dog: "...if you put ketchup on your dog I will *ahem* kill you." Anyway, back to the choice of color on the wall at Dogfather. Why the red? I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and speculate that the red color is meant to symbolize the color of the Chicago Red Hot, and not necessarily ketchup. This... surely must be the case and I'm going to labor under this assumption until someone corrects me otherwise. Beyond the red and yellow walls, the folks at the dogfather have really outdone themselves incorporating their logo into stills and artwork inspired by the Godfather movies, as well as other topical images with the Sopranos as well as other mobsters, gangsters and organized crime barons. These little details are pretty entertaining if you look for them, and can provide some casual enjoyment as you chow. Enough about the decor, though. The dogfather serves up an experience very familiar if you've been to any number of other Chicago hot dog joints. Place your order, it's written on a paper bag at the counter, and the kitchen staff gets to work on it. You pay, and eventually you get your food in the bag on which your order was written (regardless of whether you're taking it to-go or dining-in). The hot dogs served by the Dogfather are a familiar favorite to anyone familiar with the Chicago dog. Poppy seed bun. Bun-length dill pickle spear. Celery Salt. Peppers. MUSTARD. Relish. They build them correctly and they build them well at the Dogfather, and that's something that should be appreciated. Beyond the namesake fare, the Dogfather also serves burgers, fries, gyros, sausages, and all your other artery clogging favorites. Top it all off with a "pop" and you're good to go. No puppies at the Dogfather. Just some good Chicago style dogs, and I'm an idiot for not figuring that out 2 years earlier.

I really like this place. The staff is very welcoming and the food is great. Last time I came here I got a gyro, fries and the chicken caesar salad. The fries were great, and the portions were huge. Same thing applied with the gyro, however, when I opened the salad it was just lettuce and a few pieces of chicken and that was all. Definitely not worth the 5 dollars that I paid for.

The Dogfather opened shortly after I moved away from Bartlett. This makes me sad. There were no good hot dog/gyros places in the immediate area before 2005. During a pregnancy craving, I recently drove out to Bartlett after hearing about this hot new restaurant on 59. Bartlett, you have a winner. I ordered a Chicago style hot dog and fries. They were both very good. I will soon be making up an excuse for a drive out to Bartlett to try the gyros special!

I went here for the first time last night as my cousin loves this place. It was dollar dog Tuesday, so the prices were great. I had 2 dogs and a fry. They were typical dogs you'd find at any hot dog place, same with the fries. The Staff there was very friendly even though they were very busy. Very nice place. I'd go here again if I was in the area but I wouldn't go out of my way to get here.

This is by far the best hotdog joint I've ever been to! Everything about it is awesome. I've tried the cheesy beef and chili cheese hotdogs. The owner is very friendly and always there. Staff is friendly and you dan tell there are regulars there every time I go there, which is a good sign. My kids love to go here because Oberweis is in the same lot! After Dogfather, we make our way over for ice-cream! Great place!

Well after seeing all the fantastic reviews I thought I would check the joint out. Well it's nothing special. You really can't screw up hotdogs and burgers. Prices are decent and service is adequate. The fries are NOTHING special, your typical fast food fries. The place is clean and the girl taking your order is friendly. Not to many tables so if there is an open table grab it. Overall it's a hotdog joint, nothing special. Would I return? Sure.

Our family LOVES this place!! I know it's only a hot dog joint, but few are better than this one, and this one has more offerings than just dogs. Their grilled chicken pita is fantastic, fresh marinated chicken, and the honey mustard is awesome on top. They have some of the best gyros in the area, and their cheesy garlic beefs are a little piece of heaven. Bartlett needed a place just like this - family friendly, reasonable and something for everyone. It's a great place to pick up dinner after the kids sports. The owner, Tony, could not be a nicer guy, and makes everyone feel special and really steps up to support the community.

From the outside, it looks like you are going to walk into a fairly nice restaurant. Once inside you can see it is not so "shiny" The good news is, who cares? It's a hot dog and burger joint that makes great greasy food. We tried a chili cheese dog, a gyro, and a burger. All were very good, I will be back.

  • Ab B.

My kids beg me to take them. They love Tuesday night $.99 hotdogs. The large order of fries is enough for the whole family. They prefer this hotdog place over any other. The 4 stars is because my kids would give it 5, I'd give it 3. There's nothing on the menu that appeals to my preference for healthy eating. The salads are pathetic. When I go, I don't eat there.

    (4)
  • Kara M.

To all those that have ever asked the waiter for extra fries, even on first dates, search no more. Dogfather is your promised land. Their large fries are insanely huge even for me. I wish i could tell you how great their burgers are, how delicious their gyros are, the wonderful flavours of their Italian beef, but really, they are the side, for the french fries are the entree. I sometimes wake up scared, confused, and sweating, at the possibility that Dogfather might not be around the next day, and I would be missing what is undeniably the greatest large french fries in illinois, if not the US, and possibly the world. Please, not if you go, but when you go, put an order of fries in, and make sure it is large. Finally, in the cash-strapped economy in which we now live, not only are the dogfathers prices reasonable, but an off-leash dog park pass will result in a 10% discount. God bless.

  • Joel J.

The server was great. It reminded me of eating at a place in Chicago. From what I recall, they have authentic Chicago-style hot dogs, though I went for a gyro. He threw in extra sauce for free, and the fries were great. I would recommend it.

Dogfather is a great fast food place!! Their chicken sandwiches, hot dogs and Italian sausages are awesome. Place is clean, owner and team are friendly and the price is good. Stop in and enjoy.

  • Scott V.

This place is great. My only problem is that I never know what to get. I'm not much of a hot dog guy so I never get that. Italian Beef, Gyro, chicken sandwich, or a cheeseburger are normally what I get. The fries are great as well. The atmosphere is great. Tony, the owner, is very friendly; loves a good conversation. The only problem with the place is that during the winter, the breezes from the door make the place very drafty. If you eat at the back, you will keep warm. I don't think the village would have approved a revolving door ;-).

    (5)
  • J M.

Yummy-Red Hot Chicago brand hot dogs, so I thought, heck, I will try anything once. The prices are okay....my kid ate almost the whole cheeseburger, and that's saying a lot! The hot dog was great but very sparse on toppings, even asking for extra of something, and I barely got any. The large fries could be split between like 3-4 people it is so large! The only thing I wish they had is fresh-cut fries. Nothing beats them....These fries were a bit overcooked and too crispy. If they put more toppings on the dog and the fries were cooked right, I'd rate it 5 stars. Even so, I would return again!

  • Brett N.

It's hard to find a good fast food place in Bartlett that isn't a chain restaurant. That being said, I'm happy the Dogfather opened up in town. I must say I am a big fan of their gyros, and the chicken sandwich is also a good pick (the honey mustard dressing makes the sandwich)!! The homemade mozzarella sticks (cheese wrapped in tortillas deep-fried) are worth getting as an alternative to french fries. My only disappointment here is the italian beef sandwich. The gravy has flavor and a little kick to it, but the meat that is put on the sandwich is not what I am used to. It's a little too thick, a little chewy and is missing the flavor that the gravy has. Overall, I really enjoy this place, but I just wish I didn't have to drive to Arlington Heights or Elmwood Park (Johnnies) to get a great beef sandwich.
