New store is about the same size. Same furnishings and decor. They have acoustic panels, which help with the sound. Food is good, a little pricey. They are busy almost all of the time in the new location. Probably just too trendy for my tastes. Liked the Cook Street location better. Wish they had just put up the acoustic panels at the old store.

friends from barrington raved about this spot and i can see why. food was great, atmosphere was buzzing, people were getting their food and drinks quickly, they really do an awesome job accommodating children, and the wait staff was phenomenal. you really can't got wrong with anything on the menu and the coffee's are all great, though some of the drinks are a little much for me, I'm an iced coffee guy but settled for their version of a frappachino, maybe? i don't remember but it was icy and sweet, but obviously i slammed that sucker down. i can see people coming here over and over again thanks to the great menu and wide array of food choices.

Food is always excellent. Service is always fast and friendly. One of my favorite breakfast places in the country...seriously. They also have a location in Glenview that is equally fantastic!

This location gets a 1-star because of the lack of concern over the bread bag clip found in my Roasted Tomato Bisque. I let the waitress know about the soup and she didn't bat an eye. She said sorry and explained that the bread is stored on the rack over the soup - like it was no issue. Come on, I could have choked on this!

The waitress did not inform me that I had to pay inside and walked past me for half an hour. I had my card on the check the entire time. All of this after I told her it was out first time there. The food was incredibly bland. All I could say about it is blah. I like breakfast food but this location made me not like scramblers.

This is hands down my favorite breakfast place in the area. On weekends there tends to be a wait, but it goes pretty quickly and it's for sure worth it. The new location probably makes the wait less frustrating too, with a larger entry way and more seating in general. I really love that the new space has such a huge patio! However, the new building just doesn't have the same homey, cozy feeling that their little cottage style house had. For the food... I've never had anything that wasn't just delicious. My favorites are the chicken sausage and goat cheese scrambler which I always add avacado to, the veggie skillet, and when I'm in the mood for something rich and over the top, the lobster scrammble. They also always feature a flavored coffee and bring a whole carafe of coffee to your table so youre never waiting for a hot refill! Also, be sure to try the seasonal french toast at some point. I can't even begin to describe to you how amazing it is!! It's great if you want to be in and out, but they also never rush you if you want to sit, drink every last drop of coffee and chat (they do drop off the check right away, but I'm never offended by it and they don't seem to mind if you camp out, when it's not a super busy weekend breakfast rush.)

I've eaten here once in their old location, once in the new one. While the food was delicious, I do find the booths to be a tad uncomfortable (they are a slatted bench style), and the booths are also very close together - if you or someone you are dining with is overweight/likes room at a booth, I'd choose a table. First time I ate here was on Valentine's Day, and I got the special - a cinnamon roll french toast. I liked it, and it was indeed true to the description, but I discovered that Cinnamon Roll French Toast isn't necessarily for me (I like regular french toast better). The second time, I got the special as well - a scrambler with ham, scallions, and cream cheese. It was good, though different. I'd probably order it again. The new location has nice, large windows that let you look out onto traffic and people walking by - it made it nice and bright inside and would be great for people watching.

I love this place. The staff has always been great along with the great selection of dining options. Unfortunately Egg Harbor has lost its charm and home-felt ambiance with its new location. It is now just another dining venue w/a scenic view of the Jewel parking lot. Design failure. Hopefully the wonderful service and food will keep Egg Harbor alive.

Big menu for breakfast and lunch with some unique combos you don't find at a typical diner & excellent coffee. They can get pretty busy & crowded so sometimes you might have to wait for a table. Service has been just okay for us since we tend to go there at peak times & the servers are working overdrive to keep up so it may not always be so attentive. The temperature of our food has been hit or miss as well...each time one of our meals is perfect and the other is just luke warm - but at least not cold & definitely still tastes good. Clearly this isn't an issue all the time based on others rave reviews so I'll just chalk it up to our bum luck on the times we've visited.

My fiance and I visited Barrington's Egg Harbor Cafe this past Saturday for a late breakfast (10:30 am). We walked into the restaurant and it was busy...which I don't mind because it lets me know the restaurant must be doing something right. I walked up to a very polite hostess and I put my name in, they gave me a buzzer, and told me it would be about 20 minutes. It ended up being a little less than 20 minutes, which is always nice. Once seated, a gentleman almost immediately came up to our table and starting talking about the menu specials and if we wanted a beverage. We were thrown off at first because we hadn't even had 20 seconds to settle in and see what beverages were offered. Polite gentleman, but I just felt a little rushed. We looked over the menu for a little longer than normal just because we had never been to an Egg Harbor before and also the menu is quite large and...has a lot of good options in my opinion. After we figured out what to get it took a long time to order our food. Another waitress actually came over to our table and took our order. She was very friendly and patient and gave good advice. My fiance is a vegetarian and she ordered the Black Bean Burger Wrap which came two sides: diced sweet potatoes (she loved) and a cup of fresh fruit and she stuck with water as her drink. I ordered the San Antonio Skillet that came with an English muffin and homemade blackberry jam and ordered a 12oz. glass of their freshly squeezed orange juice (a must-have). My fiance wasn't thrilled with the black bean wrap as she said it wasn't seasoned well and the black bean burger itself tasted a little off. I, on the other hand, really enjoyed the skillet. The potatoes were cooked to perfection, the veggies were fresh, and the eggs were perfection. All-in-all we enjoyed our visit, but it is about a 20 minute drive so we probably won't make it back out there too soon. The service was just okay and we weren't wowed by the food. If you are in the Barrington area I recommend stopping in and giving it a try - just stick to their breakfast and pick out an option that has "their favorites" icon next to it. You won't be disappointed.

It was our first time here and I loved the atmosphere. We were sitting on a patio on a marvelous Saturday. My girlfriend ordered Farmer's Market Benedict and Corn Beef Harsh on the side. I ordered Cassie's Crepes. She really loved the Benedict! I didn't really enjoy the lack of meat in our meals :(. Corned beef was a good substitute. However, not quite satisfying ;). Crepes were simple and delicious. Service was great. The only thing I was missing - music. It would be nice if they would add that feature at the restaurant.

Location and ambience is not great. It's just always so crowded that it's incredibly loud. Especially during the summer or weekends when kids have off school. But now that they have moved into their new location, they have more and better outdoor seating. If the noise will bother you, ask to sit outside! And despite it being crowded, you'll be seated and served quickly. The food makes up for the lack of ambience entirely. Fresh ingredients and they won't go light on the avocado and bacon like other places. Their eggs are pasture raised too. Great coffee with all sorts of flavors if you're into that. I personally love their skillets and their gluten free pancakes. I have an allergy to gluten and have never had a problem here. Just make sure you let them know and they put your meal on a red plate to make sure everyone else knows as well. Best drink: strawberry orange juice fresh squeezed!
You can always count on a great breakfast and something tasty for a special. The skillet menu or customizing your own skillet is a great place to start if you're looking for a hearty breakfast. The kids always enjoy their mini combo plate. It's not quite the breakfast diner that is so popular these days, but that country style is what makes Egg Harbor what it is!

This place has fast become my go-to option for breakfast. Located in downtown barrington in a historical building, the restaurant is a charming brunch spot that exudes a classic Midwestern house. This place gets busy so plan accordingly. One superb perk is free coffee for those waiting for a seat. This is a nice touch and definitely adds to the overall experience. As far as food is considered, the portions are generous, prices are competent and the tastes are excellent. The items to try are the Garden Omelette - Standard omelette with fresh vegetables, Swedish Pancakes (These are thinner pancakes topped with lingonberry jam and a decadent butter), whole wheat pancakes which are light, fluffy and buttery. They also serve intelligentsia coffee which is strong, fresh and a perfect complement to the overall menu. Will keep coming back :)

This place offered quick service, great eats and selection. I had a vegetable omelet, cheese grits and pancakes. The pancakes were nice and fluffy. The omelet and grits were quite tasty.

Still great food but the new place is way to open and loud. I could not even hear the waitress or the people sitting across from me. Maybe some sound dampening should be looked into. Try to be seated outside next time. miss the old place. I have to bring ya down a star sorry.

After visiting Viking Treasures in Long Grove and the Swedish Museum downtown, I was really in the mood for some Swedish pancakes. Egg Harbor Cafe had them on the menu so I had to order! They were very yummy and came with pink lingonberry butter! This was great. We also got some fresh berries that were yummy. This place gets really crowded on the weekends with a long wait. We had to give up on Sunday and come back on Monday. It's a very classic American breakfast place and the other dishes all seemed pretty standard.

Very good breakfast with excellent friendly customer service all around, food was on time hot and delicious, coffee and water on table nice touch, that berry jam that came with skillet was obviously high quality also nice touch. Too bad I'm not from Barrington so I can frequent...

With a theme like its Door County namesake that i'm sure all the vacationing Barringtonites adore, including all the vastly overpriced nick-knacks, you get this little brunch place. The only thing missing are the European staff from Door county. The food is good, or at least one part of the meal is good the rest is lost or overwhelmed. The fried green tomato BLT, the bacon was very good the rest was lost especially the green tomatoes which is odd since that was the signature item. The food was plated well, portions were nice, and the staff was friendly. The food was OK, I think everyone likes the concept more and that influences everything else.

I had breakfast this morning and was served by Dan & Dean. I had the San Antonio Skillet & was with my family who was also extremely pleased with not only the food but the warm, knowledgeable staff. Its a hard talent to remain attentive as a server without being overly bothersome, but the two gentlemen who served us had the grace only truly experienced servers employ. We were sold on several of the specials as soon as they were offered and all of our questions were answered with ease. This restaurant has a close friendly atmosphere and feels much more homey than the other locations I have been to and I will definitely return of I am ever in the area.

Stopped in here for the first time this weekend, and had a great experience. Seated immediately and fun drawing activity for the kids. Love the breadth of the kids menu too. Coffee (Intelligentsia!) is a definite plus, we were even offered complimentary to-go coffee at the end of our meal. Food is interesting and relatively inventive for the frequently-boring suburban breakfast scene. Everything was tasty, service was prompt and friendly - I think we've found our go-to breakfast joint.

I have been to this location a couple of times and I absolutely love it. The service has been great; the staff is attentive and friendly. The menu is extensive and the food has always been fresh, hot, and delicious and comes out extremely fast from the kitchen. Plus, after you've finished eating, you're offered coffee cups to go, and you can't beat that! I highly recommend Egg Harbor Cafe!

Egg Harbor is my favorite breakfast place. They always have something new and interesting on the specials, but their seasonal "in Italy" dishes with a side of cherrywood bacon are my absolute favorite! I've had everything on the menu from the various french toasts to the skillets and everything has always been great. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The only bad thing is this place is so good, expect a wait if you show up after about 8:45am on the weekends.

I'll let you in on a little secret because I don't think I'll be coming back here. If you come to Egg Harbor and there's a long wait time, you can call ahead to make a "reservation" and they will seat you almost immediately. The boyfriend and I pulled up to the parking lot on the verge of starvation. We see the crowds of people standing outside, waiting for a table. He gets the brilliant idea to call from the parking lot and put our name on the wait list so we can wait in the car. Yes, we are that lazy. He tells her that we're on the way and we'd like to add our name to the wait list. Imagine our surprise when she tells us that, since we called ahead, we can be seated as soon as we arrive at the restaurant. Score! We take the 2-second walk from the parking lot to the restaurant and are seated within a few seconds. We even got some dirty looks from other customers who have obviously been waiting much longer than us. Whatevs, I was too hungry to care.. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful when it came to recommendations. She even told us about the secret breakfast burrito she helped to create, which we ordered. I like that they have healthy breakfast options but in all honesty, the food was not that great. Call me crazy but I still prefer Cracker Barrel or even Walker Bros for my breakfast fix.

My favorite place to get breakfast or lunch - often difficult to decide. My favorite is the grilled chicken salad sandwich with harbor potatoes. They also have Cinnamon roll french toast that is worth the indulgence.

Went here for an early lunch on a Thursday. As an out of towner here for a conference, I wanted to eat local food. Found it via yelp and loved my experience. I got the three-meat omelette. I could tell the eggs were fresh. Plenty of meat. Maybe too much cheese, which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. The skillet potatoes were delicious and well seasoned. The homemade preserves for my English muffin were out of this world. Service was wonderful. Might actually go back tomorrow during my lunch break to try lunch food!

So Jim being my waiter was a very positive person...very upbeat guy and very confident which was awesome. Gave me a few recommendations...one which wssn't on the menu....bacon sausage and ham cooked into the egg wrapped in a Swedish pancake. Place was bustling with activity and staff was quick and efficient. Nice interior...very home relaxing type of setting...very lethargic when i left...but it was a good lethargy.

I came here with a friend and the rest of the family on a busy Saturday morning. the place was hopping, but we were seated right away! Our server was an older gentleman. I can't recall his name at this time, and he was nice enough, but just very brisk. Sort of like he wanted you to know what you wanted to order, but not really ask any questions. But that was the only downside to my experience! I got the dynamite veggie omelet, my daughter ordered the confetti french toast, and my friend and my husband got the banana bread french toast. All of the food came out very quickly, and was hot and fresh. I could tell that the veggies in my omelet were fresh and they even still had a delicious crunch to them! Everyone enjoyed their food, but my friend says to skip the Caramel Coffee, which was their coffee of the day--she didn't enjoy it very much! I really like that the menu/nutritional information is online because I could pick out my healthier choices ahead of time! I will definitely return!

I'm in love with this place. The cinnamon roll french toast is to die for, and I am always so pleased with all of their options! I've never had a bad meal here, and I continue to go back at least a couple of times a month! Everything is great, and I love their featured flavored coffees and specialty juices. The service is always great, and although it can get pretty packed sometimes, their staff is so friendly and helpful that it never seems as overwhelming as it could. Phenomenal is the only way to describe it!

Egg Harbor has been doing brunch perfectly for as long as I can remember. My family has been going there for years. I love the potatoes with fresh sliced green onions, the tangy poppyseed dressing, the fresh fruits and vegetables, the unique dishes, the friendly service, the fresh squeezed oj (and strawberry oj in the summer!), and basically everything about it. It's the best place for breakfast/brunch/lunch in Barrington.

I always have excellent service at this Egg Harbor! I just stopped by today after biking the hills in Barrington and refueled with some Paleo Pumpkin Pancakes. Beyond delicious. The service was amazing (as usual), my food came out in less than 10 minutes, and the waitress read my mind about bringing a "to-go" cup for my unfinished coffee. I've also gotten omelets and gluten free pancakes here and everything is fabulous. Highly recommend Egg Harbor!

I've been here a couple of times and this is one of the best breakfast places around. Food: excellent Service: excellent: Ambiance: very nice Let me tell you about the last time I was here. I was on a special low-carb diet (I know -- why am I going out for breakfast then? :-) Anyway, I was on a low-carb diet and told our server to skip the toast. She countered with: "would you like to substitute some fresh fruit instead?". I'd never even thought of asking, I just assumed one did without. Not only was the fresh fruit tasty, I thought it was terrific that our server volunteered a great substitute. Before I forget, Egg Harbor serves Intelligentsia coffee. You can sit there and drink it all day in their cool hand-made ceramic mugs. One more thing, each time I've eaten here, our server has asked if we want a cup "to go" as we're getting ready to leave. What a treat!

My 2nd favorite breakfast place (Wildberry is my 1st). This restaurant has more of a country feel. Always delicious and the servers are friendly and attentive. Coffee is always good here too. And another bonus is they are dog friendly on their outside porch!

Egg harbor has gone downhill. This time I had some dark hair in my meal that was really engrained and I had to ask for new dish. There was a gentleman with his finger wrapped up in tape that was bare handedly scooping food into a to-go container. It was really gross. Why wouldn't you use a spoon?! If you go here don't sit near the kitchen because you won't like what you see.

Oh man. I daydream about the food here sometimes. I've been here a million times, and every time the food is awesome. I'm gluten free and they are really friendly about making things work and being concerned about cross contamination issues. My favorite lunch item is the San Diego Turkey Burger (no bun) The omelettes are awesome. Instead of an English muffin, I sub for fresh fruit. The roasted veggie skillet is also a favorite of mine. It would be super awesome if they added a GF menu some day!

I love Egg Harbor. Usually I go to the one in Geneva, but I decided to meet my Aunt at this one and I was definitely not disappointed. We were seated in their little garden room which is basically glass walls on 3 sides. It was a little chilly, but the waitress turned up the heat for us, which was nice. My pumpkin pancakes were really great, even though I could not finish them. I refused a box to take them to go, but the waitress persuaded me to take them home (saying that they tasted really great warmed up with ice cream). Maybe that's pushy to some people, but I really liked that she knew what she was talking about, even if it was something little like that.

We have a few great restaurants in the NW suburbs that specialize in breakfast and lunch . The Egg Harbor Cafe in Barrington is head and shoulders above the rest. Their coffee is the her on the planet; you have got to try their decaf ... surprisingly even better than regular. The breakfast dishes are creatively prepared to please the most critical taste buds. This is a MUST VISIT restaurant; you will not be sorry.

My new favorite breakfast place! This place had a 15 minute wait on Saturday morning, which is to be expected, and is better than having nobody eating there. After being seated, I had a friendly waitress and she brought my coffee. Not only do they bring you a cup of coffee, but an entire pot of coffee! I enjoyed being able to re-fill as I wanted, rather than waiting for the server to return with it. I had a skillet with a side of bacon, and it was delicious. Everything was cooked well, English muffins were perfect, bacon was as it should be, and I honestly had nothing to complain about. Definitely coming back here to try all the items I passed up!

A friend and I sat for about 15 minutes trying to decide from their awesome menu at the Barrington location. They make four different versions of eggs Benedict. I love their oatmeal with fresh berries and granola on top. This time of year, one of their specials is pumpkin pancakes. This time I shared their yummy raisin French toast and yogurt which had bananas, granola, walnuts, and something crunchy on the bottom. It was sooooooo goood. They make crepes, omelettes, frittatas, scramblers, and skillets as well as dressed up versions of the typical breakfast foods. It's so hard to choose. The restaraunt is kid friendly and service has always been good. They also serve sandwiches and beautiful salads. Go there!

The service was great, and I absolutely adored the Eggs benedict. It was delicious and I could not get enough. I am actually craving to get more. It's still kind of pricey, not your typical cheap Denny's, but amazing and well worth it.

Probably one of my favorite breakfast spots in this area because the wait staff is genuinely respectful, interested and knows the menu...every time my family and I go to this location I always receive excellent service. If you want to go on the weekend mornings, I would advise to call in ahead of time to make a reservation because it can get busy.

$2.45 for unlimited Intelligentsia coffee? Yes, please. The strawberry orange juice was fresh and tasty as well. We only waited a few short minutes on this hot and sunny Sunday morning to try out the highest rated breakfast joint in our area. There was plenty of parking in the area on the street or across the street in the city lot. After we were seated, I ordered the Corned Beef Hash Benny with a bagel and cream cheese and the wife ordered the Banana Bread French Toast. After swooning over the coffee and juice for a few minutes, our food came out. Pretty quick even though they were busy. Our waitress was easy on the eyes and friendly yet professional. My Benny was perfect, except for the canned dog food style corned beef hash but that seems to be the norm at even the best of breakfast joints. I've only ever had real homemade fresh corned beef has in chunky form that still looks like beef a handful of times and it is to die for. My Benny was still tasty and the eggs were done to oozing yolk perfection with a side of previously frozen breakfast potatoes garnished with green onion. The bagel tasted like it was fresh and homemade because it was so fluffy. I was only given one cream cheese though so I couldn't suffocate my bagel with cream cheese the way I like. I tasted the wife's French toast and thought it was good except I would've preferred more egg batter. She liked it a lot. There is plenty of comfortable seating and ambiance is classic homestyle like a breakfast/brunch place should be. Although it is a little further than I'd like to travel for some good breakfast, it's not too far and the food justifies the mileage so I'll definitely be returning for more in the future.

Brunch places in the suburbs are much harder to come by so I needed to check this out and this location was the best meeting point (and conveniently close to the Metra). The location had cute decor that gave it a "homey" feel. I didn't like that when it got crowded, it got very loud. The service was good and our waitress was friendly and made sure to check on us. The menu was extensive, but when I try a new place I always check out the eggs benedict trying to find the best. I was disappointed in that entree choice here. First off, my portion seemed small. The eggs were smaller and overcooked and the english muffin was smaller in part because I didn't eat the BURNT part. Needless to say I didn't really finish it. The hollandaise sauce was good but just couldn't save the dish. I nawed on all the potatoes and wasn't full at all. Lucky for me, the others were not opposed to tasting and everyone's choice was by far better. There was the fruit filled rolled up Swedish pancake that was to die for and the blueberry pancakes were jammed with real fresh bluerries and topped with a good sauce. Finally, there was a skillet scrambler that was very tasty. As such, I must have gotten the bad "egg" in the place and would definitely come back and get any of those other dishes. This is a small chain in the suburb areas so there are several other locations as well.

This is hands down the best breakfast place in the area. The food is consistently tasty and the menu is extensive. The banana bread french toast is delicious but very intense (sugary sweet and dense). It can be very busy here on the weekends during the winter. Definitely get the fresh squeezed strawberry orange juice and the house potatoes. Enjoy! Customer service here is usually top notch with helpful staff easily accessible.

I've been going to Egg Harbor with my family for 15 years or more, and I have never once had a bad experience. The food is fantastic, and the service is consistently good. Their menu is extensive, and it includes breakfast and lunch items. There are plenty of healthy choices available too! They always serve fresh orange juice, but in the summer, they have fresh STRAWBERRY orange juice. YUM! My menu favorites include: the Santa Fe Roll-Ups, the Harbor Fajitas (these are no longer on the menu, but you can ask for them), Joe's Healthy Scrambler, and their burgers. Their homemade poppyseed dressing is delicious on a wide variety of their dishes (think more than just salads... I like to put it on the fajitas!). I also love their harbor potatoes, which are never greasy and have the perfect amount of seasoning and fresh sliced green onion. This is a great, family-friendly place to go for breakfast, lunch or brunch. I highly recommend calling-ahead on the weekends though. The wait is usually out the door.

Options, I am a man that must have options !! Egg Harbor delivers, in style! While staying with some family in the neighborhood, I looked forward to our daily walk to this place every morning to get our pick me up meal of the day. Their scrambled is just simply awesome, always combine eggs with some kind of carbs, in this case the Belgian waffles did the trick. There is so much more to try, and it all promises to be good or even better. And the service - excellent !

I've been coming here for years and I can never resist stopping by when I'm in the area. There is usually a hefty wait on Saturday and Sunday around brunch time, but trust me, it is worth it! I love the Barrington Benedict. I consider myself quite a Benedict expert and theirs is one of the best that I've ever had. The coffee is also excellent and their specials are normally on par with what is fresh and ripe for the season. My boyfriend loves their waffles and pancakes and their OJ is fresh squeezed. Everyone is quite pleasant and the food is well priced. I haven't been to any other location but the one in Barrington has quality brunch down pat. My boyfriend loves to come here on the weekends and I love that it has a great family vibe. Living in Chicago, I have a high standard of what brunch should be like but Egg Harbor never lets me down.

I know this place is a chain but it is delicious! Ive had everything from breakfast to salads to burgers and all were very good. The prices are a little high but you get what you pay for. Only real downside is there is almost always a wait and it is VERY LOUD.

My favorite breakfast place in the northwest suburbs! I have been going to Egg Harbor since I was little, and they never disappoint. They always have interesting specials and the best strawberry orange juice! Also, if you want to channel your inner-child, order their rainbow pancake! It's just great. I have never been to any of their other locations, but in Barrington at least, their service is great, and they really are prompt and the food comes out very quickly. This is definitely a place worth going to (more than once)!

Ate at the Barrington Egg Harbor for the first time on the Sunday before Christmas. (Have been to other locations in past years.) Busy, busy place. We had to wait in the chilly entryway until everyone in our party was present before we were seated. Four in our party opted for breakfast items and the fifth had a sandwich. Large menu with something to please almost every palate. Quick, friendly service. Reasonable prices.

We'd been to the Geneva location and decided to try this one out for a birthday brunch. We had high expectations and were certainly not disappointed. We had a couple excellent skillets, a "Down Home" biscuits and gravy dish which did not skimp on the biscuits and included some delicious potatoes, a belgian waffle special that was topped with raspberries, chocolate chips and whipped cream and, I had the banana bread french toast. Just to be different, one of our group also had the cream of chicken and wild rice soup, and said it was really good. We also had some excellent hot cocoa and tried both the strawberry orange juice and the pineapple orange juice and were impressed by both. The seasonal items were a nice surprise. On our last visit (in April at the Geneva location) we had some excellent pumpkin pancakes. It was sad to not see them on the menu, but fun to know that things changed regularly.

There's just no place in Northwest suburbs like egg harbor. Whether you are looking for breakfast or lunch you will not be disappointed here. This tends to be the place by which i judge others. I find myself saying that another restaurant could be better by doing something the way egg harbor does. They just try to think of the little things that make a dining experience better...from the water pitcher on the table to the refillable drinks and drinks to go. The entrees are imaginative. There's always a new special, and most important to me is that you can ask for your old favorites even if they are not on the current menu! They accomodate your needs like no other restaurant i know, regardless of price.

My fiancee and I make this our breakfast date place whenever we have a chance to go out for breakfast. They have just added a few new items to the menu that makes my life so much better they have breakfast items that have a kick now!!!

5 stars FO SURE! This is a HUGE compliment because I am NOT a breakfast person. I hate pancakes, french toast... in fact I just hate being awake before noon. However, this place has the best AM food hands down! We had a party of about 8 and between the skillets, eggs benedicts, fruit salads and my favorite--lobster salad sandwich, I forgot how much I despise breakfast grub. It was delicious. They really know how to prepare their food. Quite impressive. The presentation of their food alone made my mouth water...and once you took a bite, you were not disappointed.

Excellent food, and exceptional service. I had the pumpkin pancakes, and they were divine. The decor is very outdated, but the food and service totally make up for it.

i took my sister here for breakfast. their omelettes are very good! i also ordered the cornbread pancakes and it was delicious. the guy at the desk was very nice. i can't say the same for the waitress... she ignored us. now...the problem i have with this place are those little cubed potatoes that come with your food.... they looked old... i tasted it and guess what? not only did it taste old, but it was cold and incredibly dry. my sister and i did not touch those potatoes after one bite. i tried a bit of sister's corned beef hash benedict... the corned beef tasted old as well... basically, these guys got lazy and threw on yesterday's leftovers onto our plates. they didn't even bother trying to hide it too. i wanted to like this place, but i left very disappointed.

Great food, great service. I had the meaty skillet and it was very good. My wife had eggs Benedict and she loved it. We are looking forward to going again with the kids.

This place is just mediocre, been here about three times and tried some various breakfast items -- the food just is not in the same league as Walker Brothers' in Lake Zurich quality! Walker Brothers is always a sure thing -- this place is too often a question mark. Strictly average. Service was pretty inattentive as well last time I ate outside there.

I've been here a few times, and really should go more often. I love their food, and their staff is typically nice all of the time. Never had a problem, everyone is friendly. And they seem genuinely caring and want you to be satisfied with everything. It's such a cute little place, one of those places that you could just sit and talk in for hours without even knowing it. Hoping to make it out here again, it sure is worth the trip and the money.

The best breakfast in Barrington, Lake Geneva, etc. No matter what you order, you won't be disappointed.

I've been to at least 4 or 5 different Egg Harbor Cafes and, despite the fact that we usually go to the Naperville location, the Barrington location is my favorite. The coffee (Chicago's own Intelligentsia!) is outstanding, the choices are great, the portion sizes are good, and the prices are reasonable. It's often very busy on the weekends around the 9am timeframe, but it's worth the occasional wait. As a bonus for the pretty Barrington location, the to-go coffee cups and lids are a much higher quality than other locations and they put a great ending on what is always an excellent meal. Definitely one of my favorite places for breakfast.

Great food, tasty coffee and awesome service! I went for breakfast this morning with my friend and her two year old twin daughters and really enjoyed ourselves. I decided to try something new and ordered the breakfast tacos which were different, but yummy! I also ordered the special coffee of the day... French Vanilla which was a nice change from the ordinary. I also really appreciated how kind the servers were. It was a kid friendly experience with menus to color and colored pencils. High chairs were brought out as soon as I mentioned my friend would be meeting me with her two daughters. The waitress was very attentive to the kids and allowed them to place their own order :). The girls had a great time and enjoyed the pancakes.

Can be a long wait on the weekend. But, food is great. Lots of options, some are pretty unique. They leave a pot of coffee for the table, which is the best part. Their little homemade tasting jams are great. Very comfy atmosphere.

We went for breakfast about a month ago. Food was great, I like that they use healthier options (ex. whole wheat pancakes). Service was quick, and the decor is super cute. Definitely plan on coming back here again.

The perfect breakfast place! Great food and good coffee. The strawberry orange jucie is delish. It is crowded and loud and there can be a wait. The waiting staff is friendly and efficient. Will be coming back for sure!

Absolutely, by far, the best breakfast spot in the Northwest suburbs! I used to frequent Egg Harbor with the family, every Sunday, when I was in High School... I still continue to grab Sunday breakfast there after I have graduated from college! The food is fresh & delicious.. I have yet to try something that I haven't liked at Egg Harbor. Their menu offers a wide variety of breakfast & lunch options to choose from, plus you can still order your old favorites that are no longer on the menu! The staff is very friendly and welcoming.. The entire establishment truly has a small town/family feel to it even though it is part of a larger chain. They greet you with free coffee while you wait to be seated & take care of you from start to finish; it is a great overall experience. I only wish they would be open later than 2pm!

After noting all the previous 4 & 5 star reviews of the Egg Harbor Cafe, I decided to give it a try! And boy was I in for a treat. This is probably breakfast at it's best. I know I said this in a previous review but, sorry Burnt Toast, the Egg Harbor Cafe has you trumped! My girlfriend and I both had a 'Scramble' which is scrambled eggs with any ingredients you want. We both had chorizo and bacon, with monterey jack and cheddar cheeses. Delicious! Their 'Harbor Potatoes' which are basically seasoned country fried potatoes were also delicious! The potatoes were expertly cooked, slightly crispy and well seasoned on the outside and soft and moist on the inside! And there was a bit of a wait but overall the service was great! I highly recommend this place for a fine breakfast experience!

I really like this place. The breakfast menu is delicious... from different flavor pancakes to different styles of eggs benedict ... everything is good. There are different specials every time I come in which keeps it interesting. There is a nice patio to sit on in summer (I would say have some smaller tables out there as well as the big ones though) and there is even a dog menu for ur puppy.

I havent had better breakfast in my life ever. Period. That sums up my experience. I liked it so much that I went there twice in 2 days. They have a resonable wait time which is acceptable for a place of this standard. Ambience is off the hook. Servers are very pretty (or most of them). I also observed even their patrons are good looking. I guess all fine looking people appreciates good restaurants (including me). Highly recommended if you are in this area.

Loved it. Our life has changed dramatically after we had twin babies. So now we have to focus on completely different aspects when selecting a restaurant, especially if they are children friendly. Egg Harbor was really accomodating. They gave us a booth so we could sit our baby carriers and the wait wasn't too bad. The food was outstanding - MUST HAVE the Rösti, a Swiss specialty made with eggs, potatoes and bacon.

Egg Harbor never fails! Usually there's a bit of a wait on the weekends, but if you go at an off time it's fine. The quaint "farm-feel" cafe is comforting. I love the Intelligensia coffee they serve! The food is more gourmet than your average joe IHOP. I personally love the Bacon and Onion Skillet as well as delicious French Toast!! I've been to the Arlington Heights and Barrington locations and they are consistent throughout.

For me, this is the gold standard for a relatively inexpensive breakfast/lunch. The place is adorable - an old house with chicken paraphernalia everywhere. The food is a great take on standard breakfast/lunch fare. I hate eggs, and I'll eat their frittatas. They're that good. The seasonal menu is usually fantastic and the pumpkin pancakes are AMAZING. They even make a mean oatmeal. I mean, oatmeal generally sucks so that is impressive. Also highly recommend the door county chicken salad. Oh, one caveat. At this location you have to put up with the folks that live in Barrington. The Arlington Heights/Naperville/Yorktown locations have a more relaxed crowd, but aren't as cute (though they all have the chicken thing going on).

Best brunch restaurant in Barrington! Great food and excellent service. We have been coming here for over 10 years and I am happy to give them a 5 star rating!

Meh! Its ok but overpriced and i can't stand the chain vibe that it gives off. The service is ok. There is nothing that can't be done equally or better by a million cheaper breakfast places.

I always have a good experience here. Consistantly well made food options, servers very attentive. Peter is especially nice and always a smiling face. Would prefer to drive 10 minutes here than to many other area options. Very clean, you can tell the people who work here take pride in their work.

Egg Harbor is a wonderful breakfast place. The food is excellent, the wait staff attentive, and the ambiance just right for a Sunday morning. When we go to breakfast in Barrington, this really is the only place we consider.

YUMMY!!! This is THE BEST PLACE for breakfast -- if you have not been you need to try it!!! I read some of the other reviews and I have to disagree that the wait is no longer than 10 min.... but the line does move quick. Plus you can sit outside and wait, it is not bad. But I have never been here when there is not a wait. This place is ALWAYS busy!!!! But if you go you will know why!!! Everything i have tried is soooooo good - well except I am not a fan of their english muffin. (ok one thing...) But their omlets / eggs are great! The coffee is great! The harbor potatoes are really good!! The service is very good, and even on the busiest day, the staff is great. Ok how many times can I say great???? hahaha This is my FAVE breakfast place, if you haven't been you definitely need to visit! PS. Their Egg Harbor coffee mugs are soo cute too!!!

I went here a couple of weeks ago with a friend of mine, and I was very disappointed in the service. It was a Friday around 11a.m. and as soon as I sat down in the booth, the waiter raced up to us and asked for our lunch order. My friend and I looked at each other like this is a joke I think...but he was very much so serious. So he said he would come back to take the order. 35 MINUTES LATER HE FINALLY CAME BACK TO THE TABLE. We were so irritated, he's lucky he even got the tip he did! I'll go back because I enjoy the food, but the service was absolutely unacceptable and we were appalled by it!

I feel like I'm wasting my time writing this review because it seems like everyone already knows Egg Harbor is awesome. But they deserve their props anyway. There's something at Egg Harbor for everyone. I've never had anything that was "bad," and I've eaten here easily over a dozen times. A good brunch pretty much no matter what. Warning: long waits on the weekends.

Been coming here my whole life and it will always hold a special place in my heart. Every time I'm home from school my mon and I always come by for breakfast and I've never had a bad experience. Food is amazing, service is great and the environment is cozy and comfy. Best breakfast place in Barrington hands down!

I've only been here twice (this location only) but am confident in giving it 5 stars. Yes, it is a chain but it is a chain done right! The building is adorable and seems to be busy but the service is so friendly! The food is reasonably priced and delicious. The first time I had a special, the bavarian eggs benedict which came with little potato rosti, a toasted english muffin (yum!), and a cup of fruit. The second time I tried the small wrap/soup combo with the orchard valley roll-up (chicken, bacon, brie, apples) and the tomato bisque. Can we talk about the tomato bisque for a second? It's fan-freakin-tastic! I want to eat it all day every day. Rich and creamy but also zesty with homemade croutons and melty cheese on top. Also, my favorite part is that the meals are balanced, although not necessarily nutritionally. The wrap/soup comes with a piece of fruit and a small side salad, most of the egg dishes come with fruit, and my aunt's salad came with a toasted english muffin. This is perfect for those of us who like a little of this/a little of that! Also, Intelligentsia coffee = score... especially since it's served in hand-thrown pottery mugs.

Yummy! One of my favorites - just get there early or you might encounter a line. Very popular with the regulars.

let's see...I haven't actually eaten here in many many years. I remember that they serve their hot cocoa with whipped cream and sprinkles. other than that i have a vague impression of the food being unmemorable and pricey. BUT they never ever bothered us when we used to play bluegrass on their sidewalk on Sunday mornings. Tips gained from said activity funded a mother's day present annd our high school's battle of the bands entry fee. so for that they get 4 stars.

This place is SO CUTE. Like, cute overload: the entire place is chicken themed! Ok, i'll calm down now. It's really good breakfast food at reasonable prices in downtown barrington. Lots of locals and lots of eggs.
(5)
Eve A.
Overpriced egg dishes, overpriced coffee, overpriced pancakes, and overpriced old people. Um, never mind. Give me the Bread Basket for my dollar - you're getting the same greasy crap for half the price. The decor is nauseating and so is the odor of privilege in the air. Saving grace: good, fluffy hash browns.

Always a great meal here. Can't really go wrong for breakfast or lunch. Great for kids. Wait staff is solid. My wife loves the mugs for drinks. The owner is very down to earth and deserves the success of this restaurant. Enjoy!

This is refreshing for Lake Geneva! We need more cafe's like this. Excellent service. Staff is always very inviting and kind. The food is not the typical cafe food at all. It is very fresh and a bit gourmet. I love and crave the Barrington Eggs Benedict and also the Chicken Italiano. The portions are great and the prices are about the same as any other place. I highly recommend this place if you are from Wisconsin. It is a Chicago based cafe, so the Chicagoins do not seem to be so excited about it.

We go here frequently for breakfast. Very consistently good food for both breakfast and lunch. Great huevos rancheros. Fresh squeezed Strawberry OJ is not to be missed. Great place for kids. Super family friendly.

Oh, how I miss this particular location. The wait staff is wonderful -- they know their regular customers and are always cheerful and quick. Food is consistently GOOD. Oh, for a eggceptional skillet with ham and mushrooms! Door County grilled chicken salad sandwich, how I long for thee, and more so for the crispy little potato pancakes that accompany you. Whereforth art thou, egg salad melt?

Took friends there after church on Easter Sunday. They are still talking about how they loved the place. Wonderful menus. wonderful server, wonderful food! Can't say enough good things. You have to go there.

My favorite breakfast place. I love the coffee pot and water always at your table. I do not like waiting for refills of coffee or water. This place has the absolute best pumpkin pancakes. A must-try if you go there. They could organize their seating a little better - they hand out the "beepers" while waiting to be seated but then never use them. Other than that, I love the food. "Sir Dugan" is my favorite frittata. They also offer an appetizing fruit selection; much better than the standard cantalope slices!

I love, love, love Egg Harbor. Every time I am in town I grab some breakfast here with my Dad. I took away 1 star because they no longer serve fresh squeezed OJ. They need to bring it back!

Whenever my wife's best friends come into town this is where we eat. Why? Because the service is great and so is the food. Is it overpriced? Yes. Is it overtly cute? Yes. Are there too many chickens everywhere? I don't think so. More Chickens!!! Look when you eat here you're paying for mystic, not the food. I've closed many a business deal at this place because people love it.
(5)
M M.
LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE!!! Can I please say that their banana french toast is out of this world. I live in the city but will make a special trip out here just for that. I mean I dream about it. The harbor potatos are great as well. I've tried the cinnamon pancakes which take 2nd to the french toast. It's really cute in there and my ex boyfriend and I would always joke about the "VIP" seats up on this balcony, a floor up. Lines always look long but move really quickly. I've also eaten at the one near Mount Prospect and that was equally good- atmosphere not as cute though :)

My favorite Barrington breakfast place! Try their fresh strawberry orange juice- it's addicting. Everything is good there... and I would know, I've been eating breakfast there since 1996.

This is a really good place to get your eggs. They have all kinds of ways to make stuff from eggs. But seriously, this is a very nice place to go. The service has always been real friendly and the food is great. I thought this place was crazy the first time I went. "Eggs!" Well since then I've seen other egg themed establishments, but this one is top notch. In Rolling Meadows there is someplace called "Eggclectic", but the pun is too nausiating for me to actually eat there. There's another Egg Harbor in Naperville that is just as good too. There's one in Arlington Heights too, but I havn't been there.

Open for breakfast and lunch only, the Egg Harbor is a great place to see the elite of barrigton meet and greet. The lines can be long, epsecially on weekends, but it is worth the wait. Fresh brewed iced teas, homemade breads and muffins and great egg dishes are only the beginning. My favorite are the mushroom crepes, but they have a wide variety of yummy lunch items, too.
(4)

Best breakfast place ever!! Despite what looks to be a long line you will never wait more than 10 minutes, even on a busy morning! My favorite is the banana bread french toast ( I dream about this!!) and harbor potatoes. Make this your new staple!!

(3)Ryan D.
friends from barrington raved about this spot and i can see why. food was great, atmosphere was buzzing, people were getting their food and drinks quickly, they really do an awesome job accommodating children, and the wait staff was phenomenal. you really can't got wrong with anything on the menu and the coffee's are all great, though some of the drinks are a little much for me, I'm an iced coffee guy but settled for their version of a frappachino, maybe? i don't remember but it was icy and sweet, but obviously i slammed that sucker down. i can see people coming here over and over again thanks to the great menu and wide array of food choices.
(5)Paula C.
Food is always excellent. Service is always fast and friendly. One of my favorite breakfast places in the country...seriously. They also have a location in Glenview that is equally fantastic!
(5)Serina T.
(1)Alex S.
The waitress did not inform me that I had to pay inside and walked past me for half an hour. I had my card on the check the entire time. All of this after I told her it was out first time there. The food was incredibly bland. All I could say about it is blah. I like breakfast food but this location made me not like scramblers.
(1)Liz K.
(5)Karyn S.
(4)John H.
(4)Rose D.
(2)Nick M.
(3)Vladimir S.
(4)Mallory C.
(5)Chuck S.
We went to take our son and his fiancé to breakfast at the new location. It was very busy at 11am which is not unusual. The wait was approximately 25 minutes and in line with what they told us it would be. We have eaten many times at the old location but this was the first at their new place on Main Street. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food. I ordered a ham and cheese omlet and there were maybe 5 small pieces of ham I could find in the omlet and it was basically an omlet with cheese melted on top. The breakfast potatoes were cold and the English muffin was hardly toasted. My wife ordered eggs over easy and they were over cooked and like me her potatoes were also cold. This is a far cry from the quality of food we have had at the old location. Needless to say we will not be returning as there are too many other options available in the area.
(1)Rob B.
(5)Mirza B.
(5)K E.
This place offered quick service, great eats and selection. I had a vegetable omelet, cheese grits and pancakes. The pancakes were nice and fluffy. The omelet and grits were quite tasty.

Ohhhh life would be incomplete without the ultimate eggseptional hold the peppers add spinach and sour cream. Been a staple since the 90's for me!
(5)Martin P.

(4)Miles D.
Very good breakfast with excellent friendly customer service all around, food was on time hot and delicious, coffee and water on table nice touch, that berry jam that came with skillet was obviously high quality also nice touch. Too bad I'm not from Barrington so I can frequent...
(5)Mike L.

(5)Elise K.
(5)K G.
(5)nicole d.
Most amazing gluten free menu with tons of options and they have gluten free cinninmoin rolls!!!!
(5)Kristina S.
(5)Kim B.
(3)Rob L.
My favorite breakfast place... i try to go as often as possible. The Eggceptional skillets are some of the best. Staff is always extremely welcoming and friendly. Worth the wait on a Saturday or Sunday!
(5)Karyn B.
My favorite place to get breakfast or lunch - often difficult to decide. My favorite is the grilled chicken salad sandwich with harbor potatoes. They also have Cinnamon roll french toast that is worth the indulgence.
(5)Maggie C.
(4)Meg R.
Have been here a few times and each time has been a pleasure. Food is great, service is great, and good atmosphere! Can be a little busy and congested- but can see why it's such a hit with the brunch crowd!
(5)Dean S.
I'm not sure what's going on but it's not like it use to be
(3)Gerry X.
(5)Theresa H.
The blueberry pancakes are the best I've ever had. Lauren is an excellent server. Love the outdoor seating!
(5)Michelle F.
(4)Stef M.
Best area breakfast and lunch eatery. Be prepared to wait. Moderately priced and also a tad healthy. Love the strawberry orange juice, door county chicken salad and caps n shrooms.
(5)Ana G.
(5)Kate H.
(5)Mindy S.
Delicious local breakfast place in the area. Always busy but always worth it.
(5)K S.
CO-workers and I went here for a lunch during the work week. To keep it short and simple we all left with full stomachs and empty plates.
(3)Britta D.
(5)Richard R.
(5)B M.
Quite possibly the best breakfast I've ever had. Bavarian Benedict. Excellent service.
(5)Dan K.
My 2nd favorite breakfast place (Wildberry is my 1st). This restaurant has more of a country feel. Always delicious and the servers are friendly and attentive. Coffee is always good here too. And another bonus is they are dog friendly on their outside porch!
(4)Mike U.
(1)Caroline P.
(5)Caroline M.
(5)Tom M.
(5)Eric H.
(5)Lisa P.
Go there!
(5)Joanna T.
The service was great, and I absolutely adored the Eggs benedict. It was delicious and I could not get enough. I am actually craving to get more. It's still kind of pricey, not your typical cheap Denny's, but amazing and well worth it.
(5)J T W.
Came back for the Lobster Scrambler-- it was great. Saved me the trip to Bob Chinn's Crab House where I usually order their King Crab with chives & green onion Omelet!
(5)Julia P.
(5)Phil S.

(3)Scotty J.
(5)Ruth Ann M.
(5)David B.
Always a great breakfast with great service. Try the cinnamon roll French toast
(5)Andrew K.
Perfect place for breakfast. Can't go wrong with anything here
(5)Laurence K.
My absolute favorite breakfast spot in the burbs. All the food is prepared well and tastes homemade.
(4)Gustavo A. L.
(4)Courtney W.
(4)Taylor M.
I know this place is a chain but it is delicious! Ive had everything from breakfast to salads to burgers and all were very good. The prices are a little high but you get what you pay for. Only real downside is there is almost always a wait and it is VERY LOUD.
(5)Jordan K.
My favorite place in the area for breakfast! The food is always delicious and the staff is always extremely friendly,
(5)Sara R.
(5)Elaine P.
(4)Nidy M.
My daughter suggested this place on the heart of Barrington IL. she was right, its like having breakfast at home.. very clean, excellent service and great great food!! I love the OJ, and also you can take your coffee home!!! WOW!!
(5)John V.
(5)Lynn C.
(5)James C.
My fiancee and I make this our breakfast date place whenever we have a chance to go out for breakfast. They have just added a few new items to the menu that makes my life so much better they have breakfast items that have a kick now!!!
(5)Barbara D.
(5)Sarah D.
Excellent food, and exceptional service. I had the pumpkin pancakes, and they were divine. The decor is very outdated, but the food and service totally make up for it.
(5)Esther K.
i took my sister here for breakfast. their omelettes are very good! i also ordered the cornbread pancakes and it was delicious. the guy at the desk was very nice. i can't say the same for the waitress... she ignored us. now...the problem i have with this place are those little cubed potatoes that come with your food.... they looked old... i tasted it and guess what? not only did it taste old, but it was cold and incredibly dry. my sister and i did not touch those potatoes after one bite. i tried a bit of sister's corned beef hash benedict... the corned beef tasted old as well... basically, these guys got lazy and threw on yesterday's leftovers onto our plates. they didn't even bother trying to hide it too. i wanted to like this place, but i left very disappointed.
(2)David G.
Great food, great service. I had the meaty skillet and it was very good. My wife had eggs Benedict and she loved it. We are looking forward to going again with the kids.
(4)Liberty F.
(2)Gargoyle Q.
(5)Johnny G.
The best breakfast in Barrington, Lake Geneva, etc. No matter what you order, you won't be disappointed.
(5)Frank F.
(5)Taylor M.
(4)Jen H.
Can be a long wait on the weekend. But, food is great. Lots of options, some are pretty unique. They leave a pot of coffee for the table, which is the best part. Their little homemade tasting jams are great. Very comfy atmosphere.
(5)Lindsay M.
We went for breakfast about a month ago. Food was great, I like that they use healthier options (ex. whole wheat pancakes). Service was quick, and the decor is super cute. Definitely plan on coming back here again.
(4)Luna M.
The perfect breakfast place! Great food and good coffee. The strawberry orange jucie is delish. It is crowded and loud and there can be a wait. The waiting staff is friendly and efficient. Will be coming back for sure!
(5)Konrad B.
(5)Jason H.
(5)Lindsay S.
(4)zubin l.
(5)Maria C.
(4)Mel H.
Extensive breakfast menu - the spot for it all. Very fast and courteous service. Inexpensive to moderate pricing.
(5)Kiera D.
I come here all the time with my parents. They have very good food and I have had such good memories here. I used to get the green eggs and ham. So cute.
(5)Jim S.
Best breakfast joint in Barrington...amazing service...long lines fly by. Staff is enthusiastic and proactive. Highly recommend.
(5)Carla B.
Perfect place for breakfast, interesting omelets, awesome pancakes, great quick service, friendly people.
(5)Janet S.

(5)Eve A.

Egg Harbor. Wow. Great place for breakfast. Love the food. Love the prices. Love the quality. Worth going.

(5)M M.
(5)Matisse M.
My favorite Barrington breakfast place! Try their fresh strawberry orange juice- it's addicting. Everything is good there... and I would know, I've been eating breakfast there since 1996.
(5)Mike D.

(4)Lo S.
Best breakfast place ever!! Despite what looks to be a long line you will never wait more than 10 minutes, even on a busy morning! My favorite is the banana bread french toast ( I dream about this!!) and harbor potatoes. Make this your new staple!!
