One of the better B&B's I've been to. We have already planned our next excursion to stay with them. The town has some nice offerings and isn't too far from Chicago or points northward.

What a gorgeous home. From the minute we walked up the sidewalk to the beautiful entrance we were enchanted. This home is spotless, warm and inviting. Our hostess Mary was charming and what a wonderful cook!

The Barrington House Bed and Breakfast was the perfect end to our chaotic visit to Illinois for a wedding. Mary made us feel so welcome, and her husband was very attentive and kind during breakfast. The food was delicious and had all the perfect homemade touches we look forward to while staying at B&B's. My husband and I stayed in The Whitney room and loved the fireplace at the end of the bed, and the clawfoot tub with hand held shower in the bathroom. All in all, well worth it!!

This is more than an B & B. It's an experience. Lovely, warm, cozy environment complete with a parlor and a music room. Attention to every detail like heated towel racks, robe and slippers, make up towels, wifi and hard line for computer access, the best linens and mattress, and breakfast is second to none with home baked goods, delicious fresh fruit medley, eggs and bacon and sausage. Can't wait to go back.

Other bed and breakfasts that have not yet figured out how to be perfect should pay a visit to Barrington House. They'll learn everything they need to know. B&B's are hit-or-miss affairs. You hope for character and comfort, but there's always a chance that you'll get some dusty old ramble that's more weathered than quaint. Barrington House is no such place. Stripped to the timbers and fully renovated in 2005, it has old-world style with nary a creaky floorboard or fussy pipe. Mary, the proprietor and innkeeper, has left no detail unattended to. The bedrooms are delightfully appointed. The breakfasts are delicious and generous. The bathrooms are perfect. An Irish theme runs throughout, with rooms named after Irish towns, and Gaelic runes inlaid in the widows. You can even bring your string quartet, since there's a four-way music stand in the parlor, plus a piano. But forget all of the creature comforts. There's something ennobling about staying someplace hewn by personal touch. I've stayed in more chain hotels than I can think of, and I've never come out better for it. Not so with Barrington House.

My wife and I, visiting the NW Chicago suburbs on a house-hunting trip from NYC this past spring, stayed at the Barrington House for 4 nights. We were simply hoping for comfortable accommodations. We were not expecting to stumble upon a hidden gem -- spotlessly clean, gorgeously renovated, with meticulous attention to quality details and tasteful finishings throughout. The owners Marty and Mary have really created a wonderful blend of farmhouse charm and casual elegance. Not to mention they are such gracious, welcoming hosts and make you feel right at home. The house and hosts, combined with fantastic cooking coming out of the kitchen each morning, puts this b&b over the top of many others we've visited. Needless to say, we could not have been happier with our stay. If you are traveling in the area, the Barrington House *needs* to be on your list.

While traveling to the Chicago area over the holidays, I enjoyed spending time at the Barrington House bed and breakfast. The building and neighborhood are charming, the rooms are perfectly appointed, Mary and Marty (the innkeepers) are very friendly (and excellent cooks), and the rates are reasonable. I will be coming back to the Barrington House next year for sure.
