Years ago, Domo was our go-to place for sushi. I was a huge fan of the Wheaton location because they had some of the best specialty rolls. But then they got rid of them, and the selection began to dwindle. I've been to this location maybe two or three times, and each visit has gotten worse. On this most recent visit, we arrived a little after eight o'clock. Not a soul was seated in the sushi bar. Not one. I think I saw maybe one party on the hibachi side, and they were wrapping up their visit. After we were seated, our server came over to bring us the sushi menus. He took our drink order (we each chose our go-to beer, a large Sapporo). He came back with the drinks, and also gave us glasses of water, which was nice because usually I have to ask for them. For our first round, I chose the Spicy Tuna classic roll (tuna, cucumber, and spicy sauce) and Jalapeno Spicy Tuna from their Specialty Rolls (spicy tuna, cumber and jalapeno with tempura crunch flakes drizzled with sweet soy and spicy mayo). M ordered Fire Kamikaze from the Specialty Rolls (Fresh tuna slices draped over a spicy tuna roll and seared on top with spicy mayo and chili sauce), Spicy Salmon classic rolls, and some a la carte salmon and yellow tail. M mentioned to our server that we had two $25 gift certificates (signs on the table state that you must mention any coupons or gift cards you have before ordering), to which our server looked at our order and stated using the gift certificates wouldn't be an issue. After placing our order, a few minutes later our server came back with some miso soups. Normally we order them but didn't this time, but nonetheless we were glad to receive some. About ten minutes after finishing our soups, our order was brought out by the hostess that sat us (weird?). Now, most of the time, we are told what rolls are what but this lady left us on our own to figure it out. Luckily the sushi chef leaned over the counter to explain which roll was which. I wasn't thrilled with my choices. I've had them before without complaint, but they just didn't taste the same. And one of the yellow tail pieces I tried had a piece of gristle or something weird in it. That's the first time I had to pull a piece of fish out of my mouth and put it on my plate. M ended up ordering a second round (Double Maguro and a Philadelphia roll). After that, we waited for our check. While waiting, we witnessed the main phone ring twice for multiple rings and no one answered. I know they close at 9:00 p.m., but you'd think someone would answer the phone and state "I'm sorry but we're closing soon. Our hours tomorrow are....." But no. Pretty lousy business practice there. We got our check, paid, and left. Despite the lousy food, our server was super friendly and accommodating. We used to do the AYCE at both this location and the Wheaton one, and had no issues ordering 4-5 rounds on average and spending over $100. It's a sad day when I didn't even finish my entire first round and M was done after two. Despite still having tons of gift certificates for this place, I really have no desire to return. Domo is definitely not what it used to be.

This review is not about a Hibachi Steak House, because this is average to all of them. It offers the same experience of eating with strangers... which I find to be a lot of fun. This is not even about the show they put on while cooking, because it's also average. This review will treat this place as just a restaurant. So in a restaurant, you want good food, good service and a great experience. They are right in the middle of the spectrum in all those areas. Nothing has ever stood out to me as really good or really bad. When I go to a Hibachi Steak house, I always look forward to the rice... and in the times I've been here I've only had great rice once or twice. The rest of the time, it's like pizza to me... even when it's bad, it's good. Now the reason you should go here is because you can get some good bargains by going on Groupon on most days. They honor them, just make sure you tell them before you order to avoid confusion. A friend told me that at other location, they only expect one special deal per table... this is not true for this location. Everyone at the table can have the exact same Groupon and they will take it. The parking lot may look busy, but I've never had to wait for a table. So go here for casual, cheap dining that doesn't over do it.

What a disappointment! I have been to almost every hibachi steakhouse in the Chicagoland area and this one by far placed in the very bottom. My boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We actually attended a gathering in Oswego and stayed the night in the suburbs. I have had Domo 77 before but i believe it was a different location and it was a few years ago. When we arrived we were seated right away and our server came pretty quick to take our orders. The restaurant was empty so i didn't expect nothing but prompt service. She was very nice and checked in with us regularly. I ordered the Shrimp and Scallops with a side of egg yolk sauce and my lovely mate ordered the Chicken and Steak. We were pretty hungry and i was convinced that this meal would make my taste buds happy people! BOY WAS I WRONG. Sometimes i ask myself "why in mother Theresa's name do i get stuck with bad food". So since i have been to a million of these hibachi steakhouses, the drill is always the same. Looks like our "Cook's" drill was off and i am using the term "Cook" very loosely my friends. First off the rice was way over cooked. My non cooking self would have done a better job preparing the fried rice. My Scallops were nearly burned and my shrimp barely cooked. My boyfriends steak was supposed to be "Medium Rare" but instead he got almost well done. The Steak was super tough and i thought i was chewing on gum when i tasted a piece. Now before this so called "Cook" started cooking he verified the order with us but was still able to somehow screw it up. NOT TO MENTION HE DID NOT SEASON ANY OF OUR FOOD. NO SALT, NO PEPER, NO NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't understand why he didn't. Hoestly the food was just bad and i would not recommend this place. Our server was a sweetheart but that does not matter when you food is c

Might have been the worst Mothers Day ever. Had a 6pm reservation arrived at 5:45 waited til 6:30 to be seated. Waiter arrived to get Drink order at 7pm.. Then spilled a sugary drink on the hot habatchi grill and left it for 45 minutes. Then they tried to clean the grill with a dirty old towel. By 8pm we were moved to another table. The manager "Suzie" offered us a free drink lol. Worst service, ownership and manager ever.. We will never go back

Don't go without a Groupon! While the prices are similar to any other Hibachi location you'd find, Domo 77 is always running a Groupon special of some sort, so make sure you exhaust your online couponing before visiting! I went here on a Saturday night with hubby for Hibachi. We ordered several drinks and they were all fantastic! A great mix of fun, fruity drinks on the menu. The cook was great, atmosphere was okay...and the food was good too. But nothing stood out to me. It's stellar that this place is minutes from my house, and it's great that they're always running a special...but so is Shinto. And while they may add an extra ten whole minutes to our drive, I'm down with that. So if you're new to Hibachi and want to try something out, give Domo 77 a try. But then compare it to Shinto and be ready to be wowed.

I visited this location on Valentine's Day with a total of 7 people in my party. We had reservations for 8:30pm and so did about another 50 people or so. There was no where to checkin and no order to the seatings. It took us about 1 1/2 hours to be seated. After waiting for another 1 1/2 hours we still had no food or a cook. We asked for the manager because this was ridiculous. She then gave us a $50 bill and said if we would wait a little longer she would get us a cook. Needless to say, there was another table that was seated for about 20 minutes and their cook arrived and started the meal. We left without eating and little celebration of the holiday. I came all the way from California to celebrate with my family to not even get a chance to have dinner. I will never return to this place.

Been here many times and always had good service. Food is decent and crave the scallops. Kids always love the experience!
(3)Sam S.
One of my favorite places to go. Prices a little high but worth it. There steak awsome. Can't go wrong.
(5)Megan S.
My boyfriend and I have been here about 3 or 4 times now and we absolutely love it. The food is amazing (filet mignon yumm yum) & the hibachi is the best I've been to in chicagoland. The hibachi chefs are all very good and we've seen something different every time we've gone.
(5)mark g.
Food was bland, no salt or pepper was added to any food cooked. The chef did nothing special like the rest of them do. Also I do not think he reads or understands English at all. The orders were all made wrong.. extras that were asked for were not cooked, then he threw away 2 entrees of hibachi shrimp because no one ordered it but he still made it...I use to come see Suzie (owner) every couple of weeks for years, but I doubt I will ever be back again. The tuna takaki which is covered in pepper had no taste. ..then the topper Suzie forgot to use our gift certificates and took the money off my credit card and tried to play it off that they were not any good.. I am so done with the crap they pull,

Always love going to Domo! Fantastic food - kids love it - leave stuff and with a smile on my face every time. If i could ever remember how to open the kids soda bottles I'd be a proud father. LOL Love It Recommend It Do It!!

My boyfriend bought a hibachi groupon, so we decided to give it a try. Our server was polite but very quiet. He barely visited the table but did replace our beverages when they were low. We received miso soup first. Mine had a piece of plastic in it. Neither had any tofu, only two mushrooms in broth. While still drinking the soup, a cheap excuse for a salad was dropped off. Four people were at the hibachi table and only three received salads, I was not one of them. Our server noticed but stayed silent. The salad looked like someone poured applesauce (more like vomit) on it and I guess that was the dressing? Oh well. Both the soup and salad were pushed to the side. The hibachi chef arrived and he was a riot. He was messy, disorganized, and his food was completely bland. The fried rice was burned and lacked flavor. My boyfriend ordered the garlic shrimp with steak, requested medium. The steak was overcooked and the shrimp was cooked under a bed of garlic. Eww. The couple across us received burnt scallops and overcooked steak as well. Although the chef was incredibly entertaining, the food was not good. I ordered a Rainbow Roll, a California roll with assorted pieces of fish on top that resembles a rainbow (as described on the menu and my all time favorite roll) . I received what tasted like a spicy tuna roll with cucumber and avocado with more spicy tuna on top, garnished with green and red caviar and drizzled with a green sauce. This was definitely not a Rainbow Roll. When I asked our server about this "Rainbow Roll" he explained to me that the menu was recently changed. But isn't a Rainbow Roll a Rainbow Roll... wherever you go? Anyway, they did change it which I greatly appreciated. They accepted our groupon, no questions asked. The hostess was short with us but hey, she had our reservations ready at least. My boyfriend and I will not be returning here. Bad food, sloppy presentation, and absent server gives this place two stars.

Took my daughter for dinner last night which was Valentine's Day. Had an 8:30 reservation is it was clearly obvious that they did not turn away any reservation. There were about 100 people jammed person to person in the hallway when we arrived at 8:15. After about 20 minutes people with 8:00 reservations were walking past us leaving saying they were no longer going to wait. After waiting for a while we were able to get seated about 45 minutes later and were presented with a special Valentine's Day menu. It was special alright, I pulled up their regular menu and discovered they did not add anything special to the menu, but only to the prices. Every entree was 3-5 dollars more. They did not have enough cooks as we waited well over an hour before a cook came to our table grill to prepare our meal. So for the privilege of having horrendous service we had the privilege of over paying for it. The only saving grace and reason I gave 2 stars as opposed to one is the food was really good. But the experience was awful. I really feel taken advantage of with the price increases and the fact that they really did nothing to respect our time. We wanted to see a movie after dinner but it was close to midnight before our meal was done. #domo77

I love Hibachi food, and have been to many in my area. We took our family out for Mother's Day and decided to try the aurora location close to their home. I was surprised to find this location a bit dirty. There was garbage under the chairs at some empty tables as we walked in, and there was food debris on the grill when we sat down. The chair my mother in law sat in was wobbly and we had to switch it ourselves. When I used the washroom, it smelled like it had been cleaned with a dirty mop. The food was good, but we never received our salad, even though it was listed as included I the menu. They may have just been having a busy night.... But I just can't help questioning their product and presentation and expect more for the price.

Okay, so this is not my normal hibachi place so I am somewhat biased. Anyway, my sister had the misfortune to turn 21 on a Valentine's Day which also turned out to be a Saturday. My cousins had planned out a dinner at Domo 77 and a quick jog over to Saddle Up. We made reservations for 12 people--only 9 ended up showing. We made reservations a month ahead of time and when time came we arrived thirty minutes early for our 7:00 reservation only to find about 50 people crammed into the lobby, many of whom had reservations at 5:30. There was absolutely zero organization and even while many people were waiting to check in the woman up front was continuing to make reservations over the phone...are you kidding me?! By the time we were seated we still waited TWO HOURS for the chef to come to the table...only to find out the waitress had lost out order. After everything we ended up not leaving until after 10:00. This was totally outrageous and would never dream of giving them my money again. Go somewhere where you are valued and not made to wait 2.5 hours to be seated and served despite a reservation. Go to Ju Rin in Geneva. You'll be much happier.

Family came for dinner. No host to greet upon entrance. Manager seated us after a long wait. Upon being seated, took a long while to get water cups. Can't complain about the food. Service sorta sucked.
(2)Maria S.
Food was delicious as always! the only down side this time at Domo was our hibatchi chef KEN was not entertaining, he spoke about 3 sentences and i could not understand him at all. His lighter did not work so he passed on the flamming tower of onions - which is my kids favorite part. next time i will remember to ask for a different chef.. The food was fantastic. our group had: steak/scallops x2 steak/calamari chiicken/calamari lobster/calamari everything turned out well.

My boyfriend and I initially came here because of a groupon. We've been to this specific location about four times. It is a fairly easy place to find, we just used our GPS. The restaurant is pretty dark and always feels a bit on the warm side. I felt that out of all our visits there were some minor issues but overall not a bad place to go although I would make sure you have a groupon or some coupons. We've come back because the service is decent, the chefs are always entertaining, and the food is pretty good. The only thing I don't like is that my sauces do not always taste the same, and the alcoholic drinks taste a bit on the light side. My boyfriend always gets the sake and loves it. We've had chicken, sushi, garlic shrimp (my boyfriend LOVES it), filet, and salmon over all our visits.

We will NEVER come back. Received a VIP birthday coupon for $15 for my daughter. Its called VIP because we come here often, but not after this. Rules that you cant combine with any other discount. My inlaws came in from Michigan for the celebration. We booked us on opentable, but they were paying their own. The owner said no lunch meal & coupon for anyone seated at the same hibachi table. She said because we sat at the SAME TABLE that no one could use a coupon & get the lunch meal. So the fact that we knew each other negated the coupon. How stupid is that? My husband and I never order the lunch as we like taking leftovers home. My inlaws are on a fixed budget and didnt need the large portion or to spend $60 instead of $30 for two people. This "rule" was NOT on the coupon in case anyone was wondering. So if you are a group from the office & 1 person had any coupon & 1 person ordered off the lunch menu, this place says no way to anyone using a coupon even though its separate checks. What a joke & a scam!!!!!!!!!!! And we were the only people for lunch Saturday. Some VIP treatment ?!?!

I normally love this place but last night my husband and kids had 8:15 reservations for Valentine's Day and we arrived at 8:00 to find a line of atleast 70 people out the door all saying they also had reservations. Some people had reservations for 6:30 and were just getting seated at 8:30. They offered no explanation and just let it be a complete unorganized mess. After waiting 45 minutes we left and by that time it was after 9pm......where can one go on Valentine's Day.......we were so upset. Valentine's day was pretty much ruined because of them. We have been going there for over 10 years and after last night I am not sure we will be back. I want to give them zero stars but the app wont allow it so going to give them one star by default not that its deserved at all.

Domo has to be one of the stingiest restaurants in the western suburbs of Chicago. What restaurant goes through Groupon and Restaurant.com to bring in customers, but will not allow them to use their coupons? For example, went to Domo to use our Restaurant.com gift card. Asked the server if we can use it, by all means we could. Our gift card had $50 on it and we ate around $90 worth of food, knowing we would pay the difference. When it came time for the bill, the waitress informed us that our gift card is not excepted since Domo does not expect $50 Restaurant.com gift cards and there's a sign that says so in front. Well first off, there is no signs... There are just signs for their strict Groupon rules - nothing in regards to Restaurant.com . They said Restaurant.com will refund us but still what an inconvenience. Domo I hope you read this and know that myself, my family, and my friends will not be coming here ever again since you can't seem to satisfy customer needs. Good luck with your marketing campaigns cause they seem to be working out just great.... Don't go here with any coupon!

I am gluten intolerant and also allergic to egg. I was hesitant coming here as soy sauce (which contains wheat) is a staple. However, members in the group I was going with said they have seen GF teriyaki and GF tamari so I thought I would give it a shot. I explained my situation to our server (Grant) who said he would double check and make sure to let the chef know. He brought me out my own GF sauce and told me I couldn't eat the dressing for salad even offering to bring me out salad without dressing if I wanted. He was awesome! However, even though the server told the chef (I believe his name was Lou?) about my allergies, I was unable to eat my dinner. The chef put egg in the fried rice and regular soy sauce even though he was told to make one without egg and with GF sauce. He realized his mistake before mixing it all up and was going to put the GF sauce on top, but I told him I'd pass because it wasn't safe for me to eat just by adding the GF sauce on top of the egg and non GF sauce. He also used the same spatula to cook everything so that cross contaminated everything. I guess I shouldn't have expected much being that everything is cooked on the same grill. At least our server was attentive!!!

Unfortunately this place has to be the worst Japanese restaurant I have ever experienced. The food is so bland and doesn't even taste Japanese. The staff was attentive and really nice, it's just a shame they put out a horrible product. The atmosphere also seemed dangerous. When they led us to the hibachi area I just felt like I was stepping into a huge fire hazard. I will not be returning.

Called and got right in on a Saturday night...when I arrived I was seated writhing five minutes! Was seated and had our order taken right away!!! Great service!!! I believe Bollo was the name of our entertainer and he was fabulous!!! He had myself and my two children cracking up!!! Best hibachi entertainment I have ever had!!! Food was AMAZING!!!! I can't wait to go back!!

I was a little leery going here because the reviews are all over the place. I have to say we LOVED it. We were seated right at our reservation time. Our waitress Angel was just that an Angel. She served the kids their soup with a side bowl of ice to cool it down, their salad with dressing on the side and an option for white rice vs fried rice. The steak melted in your mouth and the seafood was cooked to perfection. My sister in law had sushi and it was amazing. At the end of the meal Angel asked if anyone had coupons and she cheerfully took them. We will be back.
(4)Danielle V.
Service was HORRIBLE - an hour after being seated we still had no food. It wasn't even busy or packed, the chef and waiter were nowhere to be found
(2)Daniel J.
Very sad and disappointed with service for Valentines. Had reservations for 8:15 and apparently you way over booked your restaurant. Waited 30 minutes and figured it would take at least another hour to get a table. Very disappointed as I'm a local and wanted to try you out for the first time. Sad that no one from the restaurant even walked the line of people waiting with reservations to say what was going on. Apparently you are more concerned with making money for the evening by overselling the restaurant than concerned with customer service. Good service will Daddy, I want to give you my man pussy for valentines Day. people coming back. Very disappointed with the entire experience and most likely will not return.
(1)Alyssa D.
Terrible service! Waited for 45 mins then sat at the table for 45 mins with only water...
(1)Michelle H.
Yawn! Wow horrible display of show, even worse, the food. Bland, nothing special, and the vegetables cooked to be served last-no thank you. This is why they have a groupon, because they charge outrageous for mall like food. Do patrons a favor, keep the crappy hibachist behind the curtain and serve normal, would be improvement. Cross the street and go to shogun or Kobe, much better and you wont feel so ripped off!
(1)Ralph D.
I've been here a handful of times but the most recent visit was terrible. Me and a couple of friends had reservations for 7pm. We spoke to Susie who I'm assuming is one of the managers there. She just wrote down our names along with walk - ins. It took over 2 hours from when we sat down until the chef arrived to prepare our dinner. When I looked around the entire dining area, other parties were in the same boat as we were. The only highlight of the night was our server, Brandon. He took care of us the best he could but with a wait that long, I think the managers should have stepped in with damage control instead of Brandon and the rest of the servers. Overall, I was disappointed with this place. There's certainly a disconnect between the management and its patrons. I don't see myself going back here anytime soon.
(1)Timothy M.
The experience is great and it's consistent with every other type of place like this. We had a groupon so it was worth it to come here. The food was good and the service was great. It was a little too hot in the place making it somewhat uncomfortable. Overall it was a good visit.
(4)Dan G.
I gave one star because I can't choose a lower rating. "Lou" was the chef & it was a terrible experience. My shirt was stained when Lou shot a shrimp at me, my wife's shrimp were burned to a crisp, & Lou flipped some of my sons food on to the counter then picked it up & placed it on his plate. The other party at the table also had a bad experience their steak was well & not rare, & their shrimp were cooked to a crisp as well. Do not go here unless you want to see exactly what poor hibachi is like. The other party did say the other locations are better.
(1)Ashley S.
YES YES YES I LOVE DOMO! Food's always amazing. Chefs are always hilarious and friendly. Prices are a bit high but it's too good to pass up!
(4)Cris S.
When making the reservation, we were told that we could use four coupons since we reserved four tables. We were served cold soup, undercooked shrimp, and a bland main course! I am amazed this place stays in business! When we got the checks-4 of them- each one had an 18% gratuity tacked on! Our party only had two people!!! There was only one party out of the four that should have had an 18% gratuity applied. When we complained, they removed the gratuity but told us we could only use three of the coupons-not all four as we were assured prior to making the reservation as well as at the beginning of the meal when we confirmed it. Bottom line- don't bother. There are far better places to eat in the area with better management!
(1)Anna K.
Service varies from slightly inattentive to great depending on the waitress. But the chefs are funny and the food is good. I prefer the teppanyaki here to Shinto and Kiku. The fried rice is better and their yolk sauce is amazing. We enjoy going here for special occasions and always have a great time here!
(4)G W.
When we first arrived, the biggest turn off was the sign that said they no longer accept the $50 Restaurant.com certificate even though I just bought it earlier that day! I had to scramble and buy the $25 one. We were looking forward to a splurge, but instead we scrimped. I think that was to the restaurant's detriment because we were going to order the most expensive things on the menu as well as drinks which are usually the restaurant's biggest money makers. Instead, we just got water. The experience was great, typical of any other hibachi restaurant I've been to although it would have been fun for the kids if they tried to throw egg in our mouths like they did at other places. I hope that someone from the restaurant sees this review and realizes that not accepting that certificate was the wrong thing to do.
(2)Tori M.
I LOVE hibachi so when I saw a restaurant.com certificate for Domo 77 I jumped on it. Unfortunately, someone else who was seated at the same table but was not even in my party had a similar coupon so they only permitted one of us to use it. The menus were stained and featured price alterations that were taped on and handwritten. Once the chef got to our table and verified what we had ordered he completely omitted my boyfriends order. The food was doused in grease and he only did one trick; no egg toss, no flipping shrimp tails into his pocket. We went with a fairly large party and about half of us ordered hibachi while the other half ordered sushi. The sushi did not come out until I (who ordered hibachi) was already done eating and had my leftovers rice (the only decent part of the meal) in a doggy bag. So much for eating with my friends. When the sushi came out it was all on one plate at which point Bethany, our server, asked my friend to just grab his rolls off the plate and put it on his own. SERIOUSLY?? Worst restaurant experience ever. I quickly exchanged my gift certificate and will not be going back.
(2)Will W.
This place was HORRIBLE!!!!! they need to take lessons from Shinto"s or KiKu the server Brenna seemed dazed confused and lost. The show was wacked and for the price of the Food the cuts of chicken steak and shrimp were sub-par at best. Now I understand why when you drive past the parking lot is empty. They need to be on resturant impossible.

All You Can Eat SUSHI! On a Saturday night, it was busy, so if you're looking for a cozy, romantic sushi date, be warned that the tables are very close together and you will overhear the conversation of the three people next you, especially that loud-mouthed foodie wearing a Rosie O'Donnell hat that totes around her own chopsticks and gets excited talking about beef broth. I heard my neighbor more often than my fiancee talking. The sushi is good, loved the King Kong and rainbow rolls. The other rolls were nothing notable. For $23/person, it's not bad for all you can eat on a Saturday night. Some of the rolls on the regular menu aren't included in all you can eat, which was disappointing - they weren't even the special rolls. We had the blueberry lemon and a mango martini - both were fruity, but not too weak on the alcohol. Service was excellent. Our order came fast, and water was refilled. Still, Aodake reigns as my favorite suburban sushi place. Better selection, and you don't sit on top of your neighbors.
(3)Brenda K.
No air conditioning, dripping pipes in check in area and very dry chicken! Sushi was very good. Not worth the money!
(1)Jennifer B.
ADVICE: GET ROBERT IRVINE FROM RESTAURANT: IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX THIS PLACE! This is for the sushi area: If you don't have a Groupon, it's rather expensive for the quality of service and food. Even with the Groupon, it's kinda crappy. And, the waiter made a huge deal out of us having a Groupon. Idiot. The food was decent but I think we saw the waiter once (restaurant was basically empty). Also, the hostess is nowhere to be found when you arrive. They need a bell or something. Service is horrid. The place is a dive, not very clean. Looks like the stains on the menus have been there since 1972. Disappointing! Note: I did see one of the chefs working and he was entertaining so I give an additional star for that.
(2)Courtney S.
Met up with some friends (and a Groupon) and tried the sushi side of Domo this time around, and I must say we were all rather impressed. The à la carte menu was surprisingly ample, including spider rolls and something affectionately dubbed the M-80. A friend ordered the sashimi & sushi platter, and the delicate preparation and fresh ingredients were secondary only to the taste (and value too). I highly recommend the non-alcoholic Domo Sunrise, which literally was like, well, a sunrise: the most perfect sunrise cast over the ocean in a tropical paradise with nothing stretched before you but endless summer days and responsibility isn't even a word in your vocabulary. It almost makes my eyes envy my mouth. I also had the famous Japanese marble soda Ramune, sold here only in its original lemon-lime flavor (fun fact: Ramune comes in such other fun flavors as octopus, kimchi, curry, and wasabi). You simply must buy this beverage for every child who comes here (and children at heart)! It's a joy to pop the marble through the neck of the soda bottle, releasing a cascade of bubbles in its wake before settling into a pleasant groove. You'll have a toy to play with all throughout the evening! Our waitress was excellent, constantly coming by to refresh our drinks (was she psychic?) and ask if she could offer us anything else. She was never more than a wave away. She even helped me learn how to open my Ramune! Waitresses don't come sweeter or cuter than her. And double bonus: no snark or attitude when I made my reservation or gave them my Groupon! Yay!

I have lived close to this restaurant for over 10 years and my first dining experience was 3 years ago in 2012. We were off to a bad start 5 minutes after we walked in. We didn't have a reservation and was told the wait would be 45 minutes. After waiting with two young kids for over an hour and checking back with the hostess(who I believe is one of the owners) found out she never put our name in. Then we waited another 30 minutes. Food was good, ambiance was fine. Not the best but not the worst hibachi restaurant. So on Valentine's Day, almost three years later we thought we'd give it another chance. I set up a reservation through Open Table for 8:15pm. We checked in at 8:00am only to find out their check in for reservation line was about 50 people deep and met a couple that had a 6:30pm reservation and was still waiting to be seated at 8:15pm. This staff and owners do not have a clue how to properly manage reservations not provide any sort of customer service . I will also write to Open Table and let them know of our experience. Avoid this place as there are plenty of other hibachi restaurants within a 10 mile radius that treat their customers with much more respect!

You need a Groupon coupon or similar to make this not be horribly overpriced for the value. Service was adequate and the chef was fun to watch. Although we've been to many hibatchi cooktop places, and this time our guy was the least flashy, without much "show". He did flip the fried rice bowls while loaded, which was a good trick. We had scallops, chicken, lobster and calamari. The scallops stood out above the others and were very tasty. the calamari did not have rings or tentacles. It looked kinda like a whoopee cushion. It must have been ground up and then recombined, because it wasn't a little chewy as calamari typically is. With the ginger sauce on it, it was ok. Really love their ginger inspired salad dressing. True story: we were in Daytona Beach at a hibatchi cooktop place. 2 of us, and we got seated with 10 guys from Japan from Yamaha on a business trip, who came in for the motorcycle races at Daytona I guess. We didn't know them of course. One guy was from San Francisco and spoke english, the rest did not. We poured him some of our Sake, and then he poured some for us. We had a nice dinner. The bills came. The one they gave me said $800 and I about crapped my pants. The guy who spoke english and got their bill was laughing, because his bill was $50. I said, "they switched the bills, lets switch them back", He said OK, fine, but then just snatched the bill out of my hand and kept our bill and said, "Hey, It's on Yamaha".

Would not take my groupon! Rude owner yelling at everyone as we walked in! Will NOT be back!

I made reservations at the Aurora location for 6:30 on a Friday thinking it would be crowded. I was surprised to find it was maybe half full, if that. Diners sit around a cooking station where your chef brings your food out and prepares it in front of you. Our chef was very good and quite entertaining. The food was good but a bit on the pricey side (kids meals start at $12 I think and entrees average around $30). Because of the high prices, don't think I can afford going back any time soon.

...when I was a kid, I loved Bennihana! Now that I have kids I wanted to share that experience and this is close to my home. Now, my kids loved it! That said, lets start from the car... The building is falling apart, pieces of the facade are missing, the landscaping has been forgotten and there are weeds. Upon walking in, it smelled like flyer oil. The wait staff was friendly but lack the higher end (and at 30$ p/p bet your butt they should be great) skills and service. The Chefs(show) were great! The food was okay... Chicken was chewy. Also, my kid got a salad the first time we went but not the second? She was upset(not that she would eat it anyway). All and all I'm guessing they are out of money and desperate, given the ease of finding 25$ off coupons(I would not even bother without one). I would stop with the coupons and lower my prices! Just saying... What I'm sure used to be a great place is falling apart. I hope the fix it, but for now I will go to the smaller, cheaper, higher quality places that have popped up.

Food used to be pretty good but I have noticed a decline over the past 2 years. The soup was more like broth and the salad was pretty basic. The veggies used to be julienned, now just thin slices. The Chef was fun and entertaining and the flavor was a little bland but good. Our disappointment came because we had 2 separate families at our table but we were friends. We had a family of 4 and a family of 3, asked for the same table but for separate checks. We had a coupon and the other family had a groupon. Since we knew each other, we were not allowed to each use a coupon/ groupon The table next to us were able to use groupons from each check since they did not know each other. We will not be returning since there are so many other hibachi steakhouses in the area that welcome large groups and allow each family to use a coupon. Just common sense and great customer service. Sorry Domo, you lost us as customers because you don't know the first thing about running a business.
(1)Michael B.
A bit dated, a bit dusty, but still great tasting and good value for the money. Less upscale than other Japanese steakhouses but the kitch is also charming in a way. They also have groupon deals which is a bonus.
(4)Jon M.
I have been here twice so far. First time was pretty good. I had several sushi rolls. The second time, I could not get anyone to seat me. 20 minutes later, I left after not seeing a single person who worked at the restaurant. *Since I posted this, the owner reached out to me to apologize for my bad experience. This kind of customer service is very rare now-a-days, and I appreciate the effort they made.
(4)Sarah S.
Domo is about my least favorite sushi restaurant in the area. It is noisy, often overcrowded, and overpriced. I refuse to go there on Friday or Saturday nights. The service is mediocre, and so is the food. It is hard to get a drink refill in a timely manner. I would rather go to Kiku or even Nagoya.
(2)Nadia S.
Definitely NOT the best hibachi place. Much potential, but not there. While the food is good, I've experienced much better flavorful food at similar places. And our server? Omg. So my husband and I sit down and I leave for the restroom. Meanwhile the server comes by and asks him what he wants to order- he literally hadn't even opened the menu. He said he's waiting for his wife. So as soon as I come back to my seat, she comes and asks if I'm ready to order. Hello I justttt sat down so I said no I haven't looked at. I open the menu to take a look and literally 30 seconds later she's back asking if I'm ready. Feeling extremely rushed, I hastily ordered something. Kinda wanted some sushi along with the meal but I didn't even get to take a freakin look at that part of the menu. Whatever, their loss. The chef came and he was energetic and fun with us so that was nice. Although I gotta say we were given half a bowl full of fried rice, while the other couple got an overflowing bowl... Soooo yeah. So the chef leaves and we all start eating. After my fourth bite, literally, our server comes back and asks if we want to go boxes now. The poor other couple at our table said they're not sure yet and I gave her a wtf look and said I just started eating. I don't like being rushed. At all. It was pretty rude and honestly very annoying. Our entire table was kinda looking at each other like wtf is happening here. Then I gave my groupon and got my bill back and saw that they never took my 20 bucks off and then they tried offering me a $20 gift card for next time. Um hello, what makes u think I'm ever coming back here, let's be real. I meannnn I understand u have to advertise deals on google offers, living social, and groupon, but then to try to jip me and give me a gift card to try to get me back at ur failing establishment, that's honestly just pathetic. To sum things up, food is just okay, service is horrible, and the only reason I gave 2 stars is because our chef was a nice guy. My advice to u is to avoid this place.
(2)LOIS B.
You know, this ALWAYS happens to me. First time here, and I am seated, apparently, in the only seat where one can feel a cold draft. I wore my coat and gloves the entire time. Did ANY of the staff show any concern for my OBVIOUS discomfort? NO Did any other person in the restaurant need to wear their coat the entire time? NO Was there anything outstanding? NO Yes, the chefs were entertaining, but I want to enjoy my food and that did not happen. I wish I had something more positive to say.
(2)Ben B.
What seems like a standard combination, calamari and scallops, are not on a lot of hibachi menus. The simple fact that they offer the pairing here is what brought me in. The service and quality have brought me back! I've never had anything but great luck at this location.
(4)Andrew Z.
Wife and I have been here many times. As sushi regulars we enjoy both the quality and price of Domo. Never have had a bad experience while dining here. Las Vegas roll is amazing, and Saki selection is decent. All you can eat is worth it every time.
(4)Shannon M.
My boyfriend and I love raw fish. Just can't get enough. And I got a coupon in the mailer for "All you can eat sushi $23.95 per person" at Domo 77. We're there!! (Check their web site; they have a lot of coupons, including this same offer for various locations.) He'd been to the Wheaton location but not this one, in Aurora, which was a bit hard to find. It's not quite on the mall ring road and not quite on Ogden (print a map or take your GPS). This is a pretty traditional-style building; we were seated near the sushi bar, in the corner of the row of tables along the wall rather than at the actual bar (apparently the bar was reserved, though no one ever came to sit there while we were dining). Because of our tucked-away location, it made it easy for our waitress to sometimes blow by us as she was passing between rooms, or even deal with the table next to us and then turn away without looking at our table to see if we needed a drink refill or another ordering sheet, which got frustrating. When you order from the All-You-Can-Eat menu, you're given a truncated selection, but it's still quite broad-ranging and incorporates a lot of popular (and tasty rolls) and sashimi options. We worked through a number of rounds (which you eat off a plate that is supposed to be reminiscent of a mussel shell I believe but is shaped oddly like an outsized human ear...), starting with shrimp shumai (fried shrimp balls) and gyoza as appetizers, both of which were great. As to the sushi: - King Kong: funny name, awesome roll. I recommend this the most! "Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, snow crab and avocado roll, lightly battered and fried, with spicy mayo and sweet soy sauce". The size of the roll (like a 50-cent piece) and the fact that they're cut thin makes them a bit unweildy, but so tasty! - Salmon Skin: salmon skin inside with a whole skinny carrot in the center (oddly) and rice on the outside, this was definitely a crunchy roll. Sashimi: - Maguro (tuna): okay, but the Hamachi (yellowtail) was so much better - Tako (octopus): the first piece we got was just melt-in-your-mouth tender, so we ordered more. These must have come from a different part or a different fish, because they were much tougher (the way you think of octopus). So, a mixed bag. - Kanikama (crab). So-so. - Spicy scallop - holy CRAP this was spicy! I do like spicy food but this just about blew my head off. The kitchen tossed in some little nibbles gratis, like two squares of seared tuna on a bed of vinegared frisee, and some squid salad with the sashimi flight. So that was unexpected, and enjoyable. As stated, decor was on the traditional side, versus the more slick-looking sushi bars that have been en vogue in recent years. The lighting was dim, but made for a nice dinner with my sweetie. Music was an odd mix of '80s; seemed strangely unsuited to the setting. Overall, a very nice meal. I'd certainly return, or try its cousin in Wheaton. Domo arigato, Domo 77, for an enjoyable dinner!

There are better hibachi restaurants in this area to go to. They forgot to bring out my sushi roll (as an appetizer) until halfway through my meal. "Garlic" shrimp had zero garlic. Fried rice was overlooked and had crunchy pieces. Menus were ripping apart and they tried to tape the pieces back together. Overall not a great experience. I won't be going back and I would not recommend this to my friends.

My sister knows good sushi and swears by this place. I've only eaten here once and didn't have a great experience. Its a classy place inside, and the staff was very friendly. We ordered the all you can eat sushi/appetizers option. The wait for our sushi was horrendous. The appetizers came out quickly enough, but there was a 25 minute wait between the appatizers and rolls, and they forgot to bring out 3 rolls entirely. It wasn't nearly busy enough to excuse that. I thought the rolls were just ok. It seemed like every one of them was loaded with the imitation crab meat garbage and had virtually no real fish. That irritated me. The rolls look great, but the quality of the fish just isn't there. On the plus side they have great specials on wine and sake.

Have been here few times mainly for Hibachi. I have never tried their sushi. We go here mainly for their hibachi. The service is good and the food is very good as well. They have lunch specials which are really good value for money.

Typical Hibachi/Sushi restaurant. Good sushi (better than Benihana) and good hibachi. Nice atmosphere and pleasant service. I had a nice time but I really felt like I was rushed. I was still eating my sushi appetizer when the cook was putting my entree on my plate. When I go to a place that is all about the experience I like to sit back and savor the experience. I walked out of there wondering what just happened. The grill was a lot smaller than other hibachi places I have been to which made more room to cram in more tables. But overall, the place was big. P.S. If you dont like rubbery/slimy goo in your mouth, then stay away from the Mochi ice cream.

I've only been here twice. The first time we enjoyed it thoroughly! Our cook worked at Beni Hana (pardon the misspelling) for over 10 years, so he knew what he was doing and did it well! All the food was excellent! Second time we were here, however, our cook attempted all the special tricks and sadly, failed. Eventually he quit trying and the entire table just sat there awkwardly quiet until he was done and left. Food was still great, so of course we'll still come back. We still have a few restaurant.com gift certificates (cuz we broke!) so now we HAVE to come back, twist twist :)

Our party had a reservation at 7pm and arrived on time. It wasn't until 7:30 until we were seated and by 8:30 we still hadn't even received our salads. The manager seemed apathetic and even after our server told her our entire table was waiting for over an hour, she just brushed it off and walked away without even a word. 8:45 rolled around and still no sign of our chef... our party got fed up, left some money for our drinks and walked out the door. Can't comment on the food, but the overall atmosphere of this place is definitely sub-par. The menus were dirty and sticky and the air is stuffy. Definitely not what you would expect after eating at places like Kiku just down the street. There are numerous teppanyaki restaurants in the Naperville area so I have no reason to ever go back to Domo.
(2)Kimberly C.
I've tried some other teppenyaki restaurants before, so I had something to compare to when eating here. I was taken here by my cousin who I was visiting in Aurora. Prices were quite up there for dinner, I believe my lobster and calamari dish was somewhere around $34. Of course it includes the salad and rice as well. And I'm not sure why teppenyaki restaurants (not just Domo 77) think 4 pieces of baby shrimp count as a shrimp appetizer. Anyway, I took the suggestion of my cousin's wife and went with an egg yolk and garlic sauce for the lobster. Umm....I'm not sure about that. Their version of egg yolk and garlic sauce consisted of a huge spoonful of eggyolk and drenched in what appeared to be very ground/fine garlic. Couldn't find my lobster pieces through all that. The calamari was pretty good, although I think I would've liked to have it cooked a little longer. I should have gone with the steak or even the chicken. I do wish they would have offered the option in the beginning between fried rice and steamed rice. I always have that problem with the rice, as it is cooked last and by that time, all your other items are getting cold. I normally just ask for a bowl of steamed rice so they can give it to me as I get the meat. It was pretty average, chef was somewhat entertaining. Server was nice, kept my drinks refilled. The plus side, they do serve big portions which is very good compared to others I've tried. I don't think I'd choose this restaurant on my own if I come back to visit, unless it's the place of choice for the people I am with.

Our bill was $102 before tip for 2 people. We each had 2 drinks & entrees and my hubby had a tuna appetizer. We had a $40 Groupon (which we paid $20 for). My hubby would give this place 4 stars-but I think it is more of a 3 star restaurant. GREAT: Chicken Teriyaki, French Garlic sauce (this is not sauce but more like a garlic patty topping for hibachi items), fried rice, Rasberry Tini drink was served in a larger martini glass & was absolutely wonderful! The service was great. We experienced no issues using our Groupon. The chef was entertaining. GOOD: Filet (somewhat bland), shrimp, scallops, tuna appetizer was "between good & great" OK: broth, salad dressing (would have preferred Ranch) The filet tasted much better with the French Garlic topping. I probably won't be back because I would rather go to Solliphana Korean BBQ in Schaumburg or any PF Chang restaurant where the food is all fantastic.

Saturday night-early. Menus were torn, made of paper and dirty. Was hot outside and restaurant was very warm-AC on but not sure if could just not keep up. Had so many restrictions on what and how to order. Wait staff was nice. Manager said if in sushi room had to get sushi and my 11 year old not to big on it and said we had to order something from the kids menu. Was going along and asked the manager if we could get some fried rice or something for him. She was very rude and we ended up walking out of the place. Wheaton location have been there many times and like it. A business is only good as the people you hire.

Sometimes I get a craving for food that's grilled up in front of me by a trained chef who occasionally throws his cooking utensils up in the air. It's a pretty specific craving, I grant you, but every once in a while, it hits me. Off to Domo 77! My boyfriend and I couldn't resist ordering off the sushi menu for an appetizer, and decided on the Fire Kamikaze roll: a spicy tuna roll topped with seared tuna. It was delicious. The soup and salad that came with the Teppanyaki dinner were so-so, but the appetizer shrimp were quite tasty and served with spicy and sweet and sour dipping sauces. We were both very happy with our entrees (sea scallops for me and filet mignon for him), which were expertly cooked. My one beef would be that the timing on our food was a bit off - I had nearly finished my scallops before the chef even started cooking my boyfriend's filet! Saddies. I shared my food with him, though, since that's the kind of awesomely generous girlfriend I am. The chef was friendly and did some impressive tricks (last time I tried bouncing an egg up in the air with a spatula, things didn't turn out so well). With its lighthearted ambiance, I'd recommend Domo 77 for a relaxed date or night out with friends. Oh, and before I forget: AN OPEN LETTER TO THE SPOILED BITCH WHO SAT ACROSS FROM ME: Girl. I'm sorry if you had a bad day, but when we have to sit at the same table, you gotta leave that shit at home. I know you wanted to sit at your own table with Daddy (since you were AUDIBLY COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS while we were there), but that ain't the way things work at most Teppanyaki restaurants. Deal with it. Maybe your lobster really was "too cold," but seeing as it came directly off a searing hot grill, I kind of doubt it. It was pretty nice of them to bring you a whole new lobster, though; you might consider saying "thank you" next time. And just so you're aware, Princess, our chef was working his ass off to entertain us, and he was doing a pretty good job of it - constantly rolling your eyes and scowling at him is not an acceptable way to act. You looked to be at least twenty, so you should damn well know better by now. YOU ARE A GROWN-ASS WOMAN. USE SOME GODDAMN MANNERS. Sincerely, Michelle P.S. - Immediately after you left the table, we and the other couple collectively sighed with relief and started laughing. Yes, you were THAT obnoxious.
(4)Carlie H.
Was there on Sunday, July 31 for dinner with my fiance. Server's name was Nicole and she was fantastic. Food is great, but then again, I always get the same thing. I am not a sushi fan. The chef that prepares your food makes a big difference in how much we enjoy our experience. I like that they'll prepare it any way you want and you can watch them do it. The French Garlic is very good with my hibachi filet and teriyaki chicken. Not cheap by any means (our bill was $64 for 2 people and that was only drinking soda) but a nice occasional treat. Will try to find a Groupon for next time.
(4)Kimberly N.
I've only had one bad experience from Domo. And it's from the constant change of waiters. They we're having a hard time getting this location together. I wen't back since the bad experience, even though they changed the sushi menu and no longer honor my favorite one. But they redeemed themselves. Food is really consistency good.

My last visit at Domo 77 was a historical event. Something happened there that has never happened to me before at any establishment--- I sent back a cocktail. I am NOT picky at all when it comes to alcohol, but this was so bad they wouldn't even serve it at a frat party. Come on, Domo! The rest of the meal was fine, I guess. I used to come here when I was a lot younger and I remember it being really good. Either my standards have just changed dramatically or theirs have, but it is not as good as I remember. Our table was awkward... the other two parties not only didn't interact with us or the chef, but not even with each other. It was really awkward. The food was less than mediocre. I told the server and the chef that I am a vegetarian--- I don't know if he thought it was funny or what, but he kept putting meat on my plate and trying to get me to eat it. He also put chicken in the communal fried rice, knowing that I wouldn't eat it. That really pissed me off. I went home hungry. If we didn't have a Groupon I would have been VERY angry. It is normally so overpriced it's laughable. Since we got a good deal I let all of the issues slide, just knowing that I would never go back. This place also violates my bendy straw rule. If you serve your drinks with bendy straws, your entrees should not be more than $15 each. Domo's are, and they're in direct violation. Two stars because I GUESS it's a decent place to bring your family IF you have a Groupon. Kids seems to enjoy it, I know I did when I was a kid.
(2)Holly L.
One of my favorites. I've been coming here (technically, their sister restaurants in Glendale Heights and Wheaton) for probably about 25 years. Always one of my favorites. I was excited when they opened this location a few years back, as it's much closer to home for me. The chefs are always top-notch. Even though I've seen the routine well over a hundred times by this point in my life, I still love it and still giggle when they make the onion volcano. Some food-specific tips: - If you are getting steak, upgrade to the filet mignon. The extra 3 bucks or whatever is WELL worth it. - Ask for French Garlic with your steak. They don't always offer it (I think it's technically for the shrimp or lobster dinners), but it's very, very good. - If you like sushi more than you like cooked food, and the rest of your group likes the cooked food, of course you can still sit at the teppanyaki tables, and they'll bring you your sushi dinner. The cook may even throw some extra fried rice your way. :-) - Their lunch specials are the same portions (minus the cooked veggies and the salad) for about half the price - nice way to save some cash and still have a delicious meal The only reason I docked them a star is that on more than one occasion, the "specials" they have listed on the door as you walk in are not the same as listed on the actual menu once you sit down. And if you ask about it, they will tell you that what is in the menu is what you get (sometimes a few dollars different). But, the people are generally very nice. As a bonus, they are accommodating to children. I usually don't order my 3-year-old her own meal, even a kids meal, because she just doesn't eat that much. I usually give her some of mine, as does the rest of the family, and she's fine. They still bring her her own soup (with a side bowl of ice, without asking, since the soup is usually VERY hot), and childproofed chopsticks.

this review is for the sushi bar only! we went to the aurora domo 77 expecting it to be similar to the wheaton location we frequent fairly regularly. this domo does offer an all-you-can-eat sushi special, but it is not as great as the wheaton one. for $23.95 you get all you can eat classic rolls, appetizers & nigiri, but no specialty rolls. we were hungry and wanted some big, tasty specialty rolls (the fire kamikaze is particularly delicious, by the way), so we opted to order a la carte. this may have been a mistake as 4 rolls and a handful of nigiri (like, seriously, four or five pieces of salmon and shrimp) set us back nearly $80 with tax & tip. YIKES. however, this location definitely beats the other in terms of service; our waitress was really nice & friendly, and our food actually arrived in a timely fashion. hooray! still, for value's sake i will not be dining at the aurora domo again.
(2)Phil M.
We go here every year for my wife's birthday and we always enjoy the food and the experience. The price reflects the experience, high, yet every year it is the same thing, so gets a little less exciting and fun each time you go. We are always happy with our food. I have tried several different types of sushi and never had a complaint. Very good, but not great. Will continue to go each year and look forward to it and would recommend it for special occasions.

This is a DARK restaurant. I walked in from an exceptionally sunny day into what I would consider excessively dim lighting. My eyes took a while to adjust ! I wasn't asked whether I was interested in just sushi or hibachi and was seated at the hibachi. As soon as the waitress came by I explained I was just interested in sushi so I was asked to step across to the sushi bar area. The sushi chef was a great conversationalist and made the experience of eating at this restaurant worth my while. He even made some seaweed salad and provided me a little soy dish of specially-made spicy mayo on the side to dip my rolls into. They have a good variety of food, including hibachi cooking in the...yes, hibachi room. ;o) I found the place extremely dimly lit (the most dimly lit restaurant I've been in since the melting pot in Philly) and a little in disarray, particularly my waitress...with a lack of another option I would consider going back to have some sushi to again hang out w/ the sushi chef. Good adult libation menu. There were some specials listed on a board by the host desk but I didn't look closely, I did see something about mochi ice cream though--which I plan to more closely inspect on my next visit.

Go to KiKu. Domo is more expensive and you get less food. The meat was not seasoned. The rice was burned. The soup was bland. The salad was full of liquid. All around fail. There are many better Japanese Steakhouses. I have no idea how this place has been around for 30 plus years.

Went here on a night there was a Groupon. We had a reservation for 7, were not seated until close to 730. The waitress did not come to take drink orders for about 30 minutes. Sushi was ordered but never received nor put in by waitress. The chef was not engaging and did not seem to really care about his job. Chef also wasted food and threw scraps on floor. Overall dissatisfied with the experience and will never go back. Food was not good and very overpriced. Would not recommend. Credit card charged incorrectly and Groupon amount not taken off correct either.

I have been to the Wheaton location for hibachi twice. The food and service was decent, unlike my latest experience. We used a Groupon, and from the point of making a reservation ("required" for Groupon users only), my wife and I were made to feel like a pair of unwanted stray animals. Although I specifically told the gal on the phone that we wanted sushi and not hibachi, we were initially seated (by the same receptionist that I had talked to forty-five minutes earlier) at a hibachi table. After I pointed out that we wanted to sit in the sushi bar, we were seated at a sticky table in the sushi bar- all-in-all, no big deal so far. Then we met our server. Like much of the service, an Asian gal with some minor language communication issues- again, no big deal. I love restaurants that give me that sort of experience, but this gal had other things on her mind, like socializing with the other servers at our expense. She was at best slow-to-serve us every time that we asked for anything from water to the check. Again, it felt very deliberate. Then the food and drinks. We ordered a pair of $7 martinis that tasted like watered-down fruit juice boxes. I've honestly had stronger beers than the $7 (SEVEN!!!) dollar "martinis" they slung at us. I should have sent them back. Next came the Hell Roll ($15). Tasted OK, but not for $15. By this time I was already trying to decide to go eat at Shogun in Naperville or get Mexican somewhere else. Lastly, I gave them one last try and ordered the stuffed muscles ($6). Small, moderately tasty, but nowhere near enough to make up for the horrible service and over-priced watered down drinks. I left the server 10% like a moron, I should have sneezed into the check and left. Perhaps this is how Groupon customers get served here- again, I had been here twice using cash and had a decent time but I paid a whole lot for a whole lot of nothing. Failing grade for what I was looking forward to for some time. Very disappointed.

We ended up here on Valentines Day because it was the only place we could get a reservation last minute and we now know why! This was hands down the worst dining experience we've ever had, making us wish we had just stayed home and ordered in. Granted, a holiday puts a restaurant to the test, but having worked in a restaurant for 8 years, I know that a good managment team can keep their act together even under the busiest conditions. Domo should not take resevations if they cannot handle the process. We were seated for an hour and fifteen minutes before seeing soup, salad or appetizers. We go for sushi often but since we were on the grill side of the restaurant decided to start with just a simple California roll as an appetizer....big mistake! We were served a bizarre roll with a creamy crab salad and brown mushy avocado in the center. They replaced it for us 20 minutes later, and the crab salad in the roll proved to be as unappetizing as we thought it would. Our filet and scallop meal was flavorless, with some of the scallops and vegetables burned. One of the "fun" parts of going to a place like this is for the "show" that the cook performs...ours skipped many of the fun and flashy methods and hurried us through...probably so the next table would not sit with only drinks for over an hour. We will NEVER return here, and feel cheated that we used a precious evening out without kids on such a bad experience. If you are in the Naperville/Aurora area, go to Kiku instead!!

Domo 77 is an OK, average hibachi restaurant. Restaurant was opened in 2006, and the outside looks newer than the inside hibachi area feels. Tables are smallish, but the 2 x 3 x 2 seating is comfortable, more so than some other hibachi places. The cook served the meat/shrimp before the veggies, which is reverse of most places - not a biggie, but not our preferred order either. Driver for us was the 1,000 point Open Table reservation, and it's also now part of restaurant.com listings.

I had my 21st birthday party here before I went out for the night. I had an awesome experience. They recently upgraded their sushi menus and let me just say WOW. It is delicious. I ordered their filet and shrimp combo. I loved it, I had a good time also because I was with all my friends. It was a really good experience having a few drinks and the servers and chef were great also. I would recommend people to have their birthday parties here all the time. I know I am going to go back next year and do the same exact thing.

I would recommend it. But I heard the other location is better(the one in Glendale Heights). The Hibachi chef was lackluster, but the food was good and VERY generous in portion size. The drink selections and straws are unique. The japanese food place down the road kept calling me while I was eating and staring out the window wondering if I made a mistake in Japanese cuisine. I used the Yelp Check-In discount and saved a pretty penny on the bill. I would go back, but AFTER I go to the one in Glendale first.... :)

Food, Experience and Everything was great. Made a reservation, and it was ignored. I had to wait in line still which was ok but when I explained I had a reservation the manager ignored me like I didn't even speak. Could be a language issue, but other than that everything was GREAT.

The food here was pretty damn good. Waiter was a little confused as we only had five in our group, but hostess laid don nine menus. He was very patient and told us he would take our drink order while we waited for the rest of our group. No idea why she put out nine menus, but I guess listening to others is lacking these days. i nixed a star for the restrooms. I had to take my son to the mens restroom and it literally smelled like a zoo in there. Not Brookfield zoo, but more like where the animals aren't taken care of and just plain nasty. The stalls look like hey were installed by employees rather than someone who had a clue, as there were 1x4's in between the brackets attaching them to the walls. Very surprising as I felt like I needed a shower after going n there. had a Groupon and there was no problem using it. My mom wanted to pay but there was an issue with her card. Bill was $130.33 so we paid cash at $140. Waiter would not leave until he had the $.33 in his hands. Don't know if he knows how to make change or maybe they're not used to handling US dollars. I would go back as the food was good and it is another alternative to go other than another hibachi grill in Lombard. I feel more improvement is needed especially in the restrooms and customer service. Maybe they feel they charge a lot therefore their tips are always going to be high, but most places forget that tips are a reflection of service, not what you're charged. I also understand that this industry does not pay well therefore they rely on tips, but you really need to know what the hell you're doing and work damn hard for it!

Let me start by saying that our favorite place for Sushi was Domo77 in Wheaton, but the owner of the Sushi business there decided to call it quits as of last New Years Eve and he is no longer there. From what I hear, someone new has taken over the Sushi section and it is not the quality that it was before. We have been in search of a replacement AYCE Sushi place since and decided to try Domo77 in Aurora...... Domo77 Aurora: We arrived there on Saturday night about 6:30 PM and the parking lot was completely full. I thought it must be packed in there and we may have to wait for a table. Surprisingly, there was no wait at all in the Sushi area, as a matter of fact we were the only 2 people in the Sushi area. The Sushi Chefs were very busy still, due to people ordering sushi from the Hibachi tables. Not being big on filling up with soup and salad, we ordered only 1 appetizer which was the M80. It was probably a good 30-40 minutes before we finally got our appetizer, but fortunately the M80 was fantastic once it arrived. The service finally picked up the pace, as we had also ordered a Crazy roll and a Rainbow roll which came to our table shortly after we had finished the M80. The Crazy roll was very good, but also very big...almost too big. The Rainbow roll was also very good and and also on the larger size but you could still fit the pieces in your mouth. We had also ordered some Nigiri which arrived at the table shortly after we had finished the first 2 rolls. The pieces of fish on the Nigiri were surprisingly big and very fresh tasting. Round Two - we ordered up 3 more rolls and some more Nigiri. Oh Wasabi roll - sounded really good but it was huge and rather bland and all you could really taste was the grease from it being deep fried. Real Crunch roll - very good and a normal size roll. Dragon roll - also a very good choice and a normal size roll. Having been stuffed quicker that we thought, we decided to cancel the remaining Nigiri we had ordered. This location will charge you for any Sushi that you order but do not eat. As is common with many other AYCE Sushi bars, you are not able to order just any roll from their normal menu. There is a specific menu for the AYCE special for $24.00 per person, so make sure to mention what you are there for. We will certainly come back to this Domo location again and highly recommend the other regulars from Wheaton give this Aurora location a try.

what a blazing bargin this place offers for lunch! after a remarkably underwhelming bowl of soup, i was treated to a flashy cooking show, ate a roll of artfully presented sushi, drank several cups of outstanding gunpowder green tea, and slaughtered a mochi. i had at least a pound of hot entree to cart away. i was treating a coworker to lunch, and after all this spent about fourty dollars. i also witnessed and tasted my first sqid steak. i did not know squid had steaks. i thought they were made of curly bits of deep fried rubber. tasted excellent, like chicken flavored celeriac root. interesting.

So my family and I love Teppanyaki cuisine and we frequent quite a few of the restaurants in this area. Domo is like 'Cheers' for us, we are regulars. The food is good, the prices are ok, and the atmosphere is comfortable. I give them 3 stars because they are A-OK with me! An average meal for 2 is about 90 dollars including drinks, however if you use restaurant.com you can get a great deal!!

Expensive and fattening. Fried rice is mighty tasty though! :)

I have been on 2 separate occasions. I am not overly impressed. The sushi is nothing special. The hibachi is pretty good. Thus far I have tried the salmon, scallops, lobster and shrimp. The chefs seem to vary in their degree of skill and showmanship. During busy dinner periods, the wait staff can be less than attentive, but I think this is due to the restaurant not being sufficiently staffed to handle the volume of customers.

I have been fan of this place for 15 years! I love it, the food is always always good here! The service is always good too! Very consistant!

I am a huge fan of this kind of Japanese restaurants. They all are somewhat overpriced, but provide a good meal along with a show by the chef. Our meal at Domo 77 provided the entertainment value, but the meal was sadly lacking. We started out with a spicy sushi appetizer. Not bad, not great. I ordered steak and scallops, my wife had a vegetable dish. The soup was ok. Same for the salad. I usually gobble down the ginger dressing salad dressing. Tonight, it just was not awesome. The four pieces of shrimp were tasty, although a little meager. During the chef show, our chef did a lot of twirling and banging and shaking of the salt and pepper shakers. Each time, copious amounts of both shakers were poured on the food. My wife and I both commented that we hoped that was not salt being added, as the amount was accumulating rapidly. When the food was served, scallops first, then steak, then vegetables, finally fried rice, I was eagerly anticipating the great hibachi sauce flavor I associate with Japanese food. Scallops, no flavor, and a rather mushy consistency. I would not ever order scallops here again. Steak? No hibachi flavor at all. The steak was good, but there was no sauce on it all. Just salt. I could not add soy sauce for fears of doubling down on my weeks worth of sodium. Finally, the vegetables and fried rice. Again, o flavor except for salt. What is in the little bottles the chef cooks with? Certainly not hibachi. Service was ok. I think there are far superior Japanese restaurants in the area, and I would not return here.

My friends and I go to Wheaton location for sushi and we all love that place. Recently all of my friends and I bought Groupon just to use it for sushi at Wheaton, but later we found out that Wheaton sushi bar does not accept Groupon for their sushi, but Aurora location does. So I went to Aurora location and I was disapointed. The menu is completely different, overall sushi quality was lower than Wheaton. Never going back to this location again, even with Groupon.

I took a first date here a few weeks ago. My only gripe is that it is very loud in the room (I've heard that the other locations aren't as loud). We had the steak, shrimp and scallops (we shared everything). I thought the food was outstanding. Because they cook it right in front of you, it is all very fresh. There is something to be said about seeing the food cooked to your liking right in front of you. Granted, you pay a bit of a premium for this, but it's worth the entertainment! You'll definitely won't leave hungry, they give you quite a bit of food. It's a fun place for a first date. Check it out!
(4)Vance E.
Our food was great, my wife ordered shrimp and got way more than she expected. Our cook was fun and entertaining. We had to wait for what seemed like a really long time for him to come out and start. I ordered steak and shrimp which was ok. I'd go again for sure especially for the 2.75 sopporo drafts!

Have been here many times. Love the food and sushi. Chefs are very entertaining. Prices are reasonable especially if you get a coupon from the newspaper.
(4)Caitlin O.
I haven't actually dined in at this restaurant yet - which is a new location for Domo 77 - but I regularly order take out from their sushi bar, which opens at 3PM. The service is prompt and the sushi selection is quite tasty, though not quite as expansive as I'd like. Their selection of maki is also reasonably priced and pretty decent. I'd rather drive my ass out to Bob San for a nice sushi dinner in the city, but I can't say I have any complaints about picking my lunch up here. Yum yum.
(4)Susan Y.
I have been going to the various Domo 77 restaurants for years and it has always been a wonderful experience. The food is fantastic, the chefs really entertaining, and the environment is fun. An added bonus is that the sushi is excellent. You won't be disappointed!!!

What can I say? Had an upset stomach with the calamari at lunch on sunday. Felt something queasy right away. My first and last visit.
(1)Anthony M.
It has been about 7 months since I visited this establishment. I always love the hibachi. The food was good, however the waiter was not so good. He messed up our bill 3 times. I really don't want to blame Domo because everything else was really good. ( he just might have been having a bad day).
(3)Jeff R.
We went here for the first time with 8 adults and 5 kids. I was surprised at the amount of families in here, mostly do to the cost. It was fun, but I really didn't think any of the food was outstanding. My meal was steak, chicken and shrimp for $27.95. If you look at it as $16.00 in food and $12,00 in entertainment I guess it's more justifiable. The kids table bill was $98.00, the adults was $350.00, pre-tip. (yes, there was some beer on that one) One of those places you have to try once, maybe again with a few freinds. Not a place I would return to on a regular basis. If I could I would give it more like 3.5 stars.

Rather disappointing, even after taking into consideration the difficulty of serving our party of twelve. Even with reservations, it took almost 45 minutes for our party to be seated, even though half of the restaurant was empty. The hostess had a surly attitude, and twice, while waiting, several of our party considered leaving for another restaurant. The waitress was pleasant and attentive; the chef was interesting but seemed weary. My food (shrimp & portabellos with garlic) was very good, but my husband said that his calamari and scallops were simply bad. Some members of our party did not get parts of their order, and some of the orders were mixed up. Again, this was a large party, but for the prices, we expected better. It might be an interesting one-time experience for a couple, but I would definitely caution against bringing a group here.

ok...I used to be a fan of this place. For $24 you can get all you can eat sushi any day of the week. The all you can eat menu is pretty comprehensive and inclusive of a lot of what is offered on the standard menu. I was such a fan I became a regular. I would even hit up the sushi bar solo. I have eaten up to 9 maki rolls by myself in one sitting. I went back on a solo trip about a week ago. I recognize the sushi chef now and I am sure he recognizes me...not such a good thing with all you can eat I guess. I say this because this last time I went, I couldn't believe how big the rolls were. They barely fit in my mouth. If it was because the chef was loading up the fish, this would be a rave review. I have NEVER seen so much rice in a roll before. The rice was overlapping rice! I barely made it through 5 rolls. Needless to say, I wont be going back. They ruined a good thing for me. I realize the all you can eat wasn't meant for people like me that can devour 9 rolls, at the same time I am sure there are plenty of folks who never even eat 3 rolls. It works out for thee restaurant in the long run, I just cant believe they would rather not have my business or referrals.

Good food but the restaurant needs a good scrubbing. Went in a half hour before closing and staff was very friendly. The chef made us a fresh fruit cup for dessert so nice!!!!!

We had lunch here yesterday for my niece's birthday - so we had a large group of 14. The original plan was to visit Benihana's but due to the size of the group and the cost of Benihana's, we were looking for a more reasonably priced option. It then became a toss up between Domo 77 and Kiku which is right down the street. We decided to visit this restaurant over Benihana's and Kiku as we had a restaurant.com coupon we wanted to use, but found out once we got there we couldn't use it on lunch. Strike one. They had several menus with various options and immediately we decided that their prices were WAY higher than Kiku and the menu options were not so impressive. Having been to Kiku many times, this place was being held to the high standard Kiku is, Kiku rocks and it SOOO much better on so many levels, our decision to visit this location is quickly becoming an apparent mistake. Things were ok once we arrived, we got our drinks relatively quickly and our orders were taken in a timely manner. The first hibachi chef arrived for the adults table and we were on our way. The overall presentation of the hibachi chef was ok - nothing great - nothing awful. I ordered the chicken and scallops because I wasn't about to pay $30 for the fillet and scallops at lunch. The fillet and scallops was only available on the dinner menu so the price was what it was. I've ordered this same dish at Kiku for lunch and it's around $18 - way more reasonable. But to be fair, Kiku does only offer their dinner menu on the weekends, so I would have probably paid around $30 there too (in the end, I would have - no questions asked). After eating my meal at Domo and having had the same sort of meal at Kiku - there's NO comparison. The meal at Domo was truly disgusting. The scallops tasted awful, to the point the taste made me gag. The chicken was dry, dry, dry and the rice was ok at best. Strike Two. Other meals were ok - but certainly nothing like Kiku. The hibachi chef came for the kids table and for them, the show was great. For them, their food was fine. They don't eat out a lot and they're kids, so their expectations aren't quite the same. At some point we lost our waiter...once he brought our drinks and took our orders, he never seemed to return. We had 14 empty drinks and couldn't find anyone to get us refills. He finally showed up and returned w/ our drinks about 15 min. later...hello??? Then once he returned w/ our drinks my sister inquired about a California roll she ordered that she was still waiting on - HUH? We've all finished our meals and she's still waiting on part of her order. She finally got it and the meal was over. As I mentioned we were there for a birthday. They brought out a basket of roses with candle in the middle for the birthday celebration. Two employees sang to her in Chinese/Japanese and once she blew out the the candle they snapped up the flowers and left. That was it - no dessert for her - nothing. WHAT? Strike three. Our checks came we inquired about the "birthday discount" they offer...the missing waiter smiled awkwardly and says "we don't offer discount for lunch". Are ya kidding me??? This combined with the everything else finally pushed strike four. Game over...we were hoping we could just get our check before dinner and get the heck out of there. The bottom line - eat at Kiku (next to Menard's on Aurora Ave.). Their food/service/atmosphere is leaps and bounds better, to the point it doesn't really even compare to Domo 77. Kiku's fillet and scallops are to die for. We went there in a large adult group (8) last summer for a birthday and every single meal was absolutely delicious.

This review is for their new all you can eat sushi. I have NOT tried their hibachi so this review is not meant to reflect that part of the restaurant, but this review is mostly about their service, which would likely reflect that hibachi area.. I LOVE the Wheaton location and so I decided to give this one a try after many of my friends said the quality was better for their sushi buffet, which is the only thing I've had here or at the Wheaton location. I was very disappointed, not so much about the food, it was good, the service was horrible and killed any chance of me returning willingly. I had 5 servers (one seated, one took our drink order, one dropped it off, one took our food order and another dropped off the food), none of which gave me their name. Getting water took a while, then about 5-10mins to get someone to give us an order sheet (again different people). Our order came in pieces, that was expected, but what wasn't expected was items showing up that we didn't order. Then waited for the orders we did order to come. We over heard a server takeing care of a table a little bit over about last call and if there was anything else he could get them. We got no such warning and saw the sushi bar shut off it's lights. Disappointed and disgusted with the service, I didn't care anymore for the food we were missing. Walking out, we saw the whole staff of waiters and manager give us a hearty good bye, we did not return the favor. I DO highly recommend going to the Wheaton location, it has a bigger menu (includes noodles, more rolls, and more apps). Though lightly staffed, the servers in the sushi bar never quite venture away from that area like this location best of all, there is no requirement to finish your food (though we do and try not to abuse this privilege) and you can order rolls to be half the size if you want to try them. Again, this was about the sushi area and their service, if it was only on food, they would have 3 1/2 or 4 stars, but the service brought it down, hard.
(2)J S.
We had a groupon and made reservations. We were on the sushi side. The place wasn't even busy but it took the two of us 2 hours for dinner! Everything was extremely slow. It took us nearly 25 minutes to get our check. The sushi was sub-par compared to other sushi places nearby. I cannot recommend this place.
(1)Jen S.
Decent portion sizes, but too pricey compared to other similar places. Staff is slow and the coke always tastes really bad!
(3)S S.
Wow I ordered way too much sushi! It was waaay better than expected. They brought out miso soup & ginger salad and we didn't even order it! The place was a ghost town so our service was a little too over the top. Definitely a good experience and good sushi overall.
(4)Ben P.
AWESOME place if you really like hibachi. I also LOVE sushi, but I think their sushi is pretty bland, and not at all that good. Their garlic breading is phenomenal! I usually get the shrimp and lobster combo, but I have also gotten their filet mignon. I've never been let down one time with the taste. The cooks are usually friendly and very entertaining, I've only gotten a cook who wasn't very talkative once or twice, but they weren't rude or anything. Everyone is very, very nice there. I've only been treated very rudely by a lady who was cleaning off our table as we were sitting down, and I think she had become angry with the hostess who sat us (maybe too soon), and she started whipping things off the table. She actually spilled my brand new drink I had just gotten from the bar and yelled at my for setting it down on the table (even though she had finished cleaning our half of the table). However, this was the only time I have experienced something like this. I saw her a couple of times after that and she just never looked happy, so I think that is just how she generally is. The one word of advice I will offer is DO NOT go there on Valentine's day!! They have NO idea what they are doing when it comes to reservations, or dealing with accommodating many customers at the same time. It had to be one of my top 5 worst experiences. I had made reservations for 7:00pm for my ex-gf and I. We get there 20 minutes early. We stood there looking for someone for about 40 minutes (no host, no hostess, no managers, absolutely no one was standing up front). Whenever a server or cook, or anyone who didn't belong up front would come up front to grab a menu or something they would be mobbed with people, and look like a deer caught in headlights, I actually felt bad for them. FINALLY, after about waiting for 45 minutes we see a manager, well now about 50 people are trying to "check in" with her, and it is nearly impossible to get close to her. She gets so over whelmed with trying to figure out who has reservations, who doesn't, what time everyone has them at, and so on that she just starts seating whoever. Basically, about 3 couples who walked in about 10 minutes ago (a good 45 after we did), all get seated instantly. Then she tells everyone to move into this room they have over to the left, and she would start calling people from there. Well we finally figure out she was once again just seating whoever jumped up the fastest, she had no idea who was there first or had reservations first, and didn't care. We basically had to push our way through this line to get up front and get seated after waiting almost 2 hours! It was absolutely terrible. I have never experienced anything like it, so I have and will keep going back even after that experience, because I do love the food, and it is usually never that crazy!
(4)Kevin P.
went there over the weekend and had the time of my life, CHEFS never fail to amuse. Mj was hilarious and had me laughing throughout my entire stay. Sushi was EXCELLENT, servers were up to par and the overall experience was outstanding
(5)Charlotte K.
We went with 2 other couples for a nice evening out. I had made a reservation, however they will not seat you until everyone is there. We went into the "lounge" to order a drink, it took over 5 minutes to even get anyone to ask what we wanted to drink. When we were finally seated, we waited over 10 minutes before I went looking for someone to wait on us. This is the 3rd time we have had absolutely horrible service and will never return. The food is good, but the service is the worst ever.

This review is given just on the fact that they wouldn't honor a groupon on Christmas Day. It clearly states on the groupon that it's not valid on Christmas Eve but there is no mention of Christmas Day. There was a large sign at the door that said they wouldn't honor it & I asked the hostess & she said no. Groupon will refund the $$ if a restaurant won't honor it so I'll be talking with them tomorrow.
(1)Joey H.
I don't prefer the hibachi grill side but I do enjoy the sushi. I only go when I can take advantage of the groupon $25 for $50.
(3)Dan D.
A little hesitant to go hear given some of the reviews. But location is convenient and wanted to have my 4 year old experience a hibachi experience for the first time. Good experience. My wife got the steak & chicken. Shared with my son. I got the lobster and scallops. Lobster was with the egg sauce was great. Scallops were good. My wife was happy with both chicken and steak. Veggies were good. Fried rice was ok. Food was good, not the best hibachi I have had, but good enough. Waitress was kid friendly. Was considerate and made recommendations that was best for us (not maximizing our spend). Cook was engaging. Did what you'd expect a hibachi cook to do. Son liked him. In summary, we experienced great service and good food. Great experience for son. We will be back. It seems like the root cause for many other bad reviews were issues with coupons/group and long waits at busy times. These weren't relevant to our visit.
(4)Sara D.
Excellent wait service. This place is a total step up from Benihana's. The cooks are fun and friendly, dedicated to their job. They certainly didn't half ass our meal, beautiful presentation. I can't wait to frequent this place once again.
(5)Yocelin S.
Went here on Valentine's night- Had lots of fun and the food was great. Cannot wait to go back with my little guys.
(4)Kelly C.
I think more than almost any other kind dining experience, hibachi dining is luck of the draw in terms of who you get. We visited tonight and had a perfectly nice dinner. It wasn't the best hibachi in the area, it wasn't the worst. They happily accepted our groupon, and food was about what we expected. Solid dining that makes kiddos happy.

Perhaps myself or others in our party were bad in another life and this was residual karma coming back to bite us, idk? Last minute desperation and lack of planning ahead of time led us to book a double date for NYE at Domo 77, one of the few restaurants that could accommodate us at the last minute, or so we thought... Objectively speaking, what would you have to say about a restaurant establishment that seats you 30 mins after a reservation that you have made (8:30 reservation, seated at 9:00) and serves you bland food a full HOUR after the reservation time? After being seating by the wait staff my obligation to write this negative review could have been avoided if only the service was great or even good, but the understaffed kitchen and waitstaff were super slow in getting around to our table, even serving food and drinks to a table that had been seated well after we were. The service was so slow that we made TWO trips to the bar ourselves to get drinks before any drinks that we ordered arrived at our table. Now, to be fair, we were given a free order of pot stickers and "salad" for our trouble; the former of which was mediocre and the latter of which was unfathomably disgusting. I'm fairly certain that neither free consolation was worth the valuable NYE celebration time we irrevocably lost in waiting. Moreover, the cocktails were priced above average but not a good deal relative to the average quality that was delivered in return. It was New Year's Eve, and I counted maybe 7 wait staff and 6 teppanyaki chefs on the floor for the entire, uber-packed restaurant. This is very basic economics fail: the meager supply of the Domo 77 staff could not have possibly kept up with the robust demands of their customers on a huge holiday like NYE. Completely unacceptable! To make matters worse, our party must have been situated next to a drafty [southern] wall or air duct blowing cold air right down upon us, so on NYE--one of the coldest times of the year--it was somewhere in the 50 degree range at our table--cold enough to compel us to keep our winter jackets on. Seriously?! I have waited over 7 months to write this review and I STILL believe that Domo 77 should only be given 1 star even after my cooler head has prevailed with hindsight and reflection. However late this review is, I nevertheless believe strong that our story needs to be told. There are may terrific options for a Japanese steakhouse in the DuPage/Kane County areas. Caveat emptor: avoid the Domo 77 Aurora location in particular at all costs during busy times or risk repeating an experience like which we experienced. Ultimately, this leads me to conclude that this Domo 77 franchise is only still in business because of its terrific strategic location next to the Fox Valley Mall in Aurora, because I cannot fathom any other reason why, outside of consistently poor consumer taste, that it should still be.
(1)Jeramiah G.
Honestly, I love hibachi and sushi but I did not find the steak and chicken hibachi very good. It was extremely bland for $28. It was not worth the money at all and have had better hibachi for a few bucks more. I will admit their fried rice is extremely good and their chefs were very nice and fun.
(2)Jackie L.
I think this place is awesome!!! Get the scallops with yolk on top. 3 rd time here love it. MJ is the best chef!!!! I think this place is great. Ive eaten alot if Teppan in my day and this is the best with the yolk.
