My new favorite place for donuts in the Chicago area!!!! I will be back every time I visit!!!! Next update going to try the ice cream!!!!!

Decided to check this place out on a whim. My boyz ordered the "Superman" flavor ice cream and some good ol' fashioned vanilla. Price came out to be around ~3 for the kid-sized scoops. The employees there were super nice BATHROOM REVIEW: Located near the exits, the Mens bathroom was super clean. I was extremely surprised. Sit or squat? Sit!

Not a big fan of their apple fritter. It has the fillings of MCds apple pie. I've had better fritters before and this is definitely not one of them... Gurnee Donuts has great apple fritters btw! The donut holes was so so also. The employees was friendly and the place is fairly clean. Has a drive thru and accepts credit cards.

Tasty and fresh describe the output of this tiny donut diner in downtown Palatine. They have all the basics you'd expect including raised donuts, cake donuts and apple fritters. I suspect that at one time this was an outlet of dunkin donuts that for some reason became independent. We stopped in on a Sunday morning and it was pretty busy but the line moved quickly. It's a pretty small shop but people line up in an orderly fashion waiting their turn. Sales were brisk and the folks in back were making more donuts almost as quickly. Expect to pay around $9-10 for a dozen. Bottom line, not fancy but solid flavors like coconut, peanut, chocolate frosted, honey dipped, jelly and Bavarian cream make this a popular spot for a sweet morning treat.

I have 15 Check In's at the Spunky Dunkers location in Palatine and have always been satisfied with this location until last week. Every Friday night I stop and get a dozen of donuts for my wife and I for the weekend. Last weekend all the donuts were stale, like they were day olds. So tonight I decided to drive more than twice the distance to this location and was so surprised at how fresh the donuts were. It may be worth the extra 5 minute drive for me to come to this location in the future.

It happened to be June 5 (National Donut Day in case you forgot) when we passed by here, and so we instinctively stopped in. Donuts are a $1 and we tried their chocolate bavarian for an afternoon dessert and it was a little on sweet side but still delectable. A nice, quaint business to have in the area.
(4)LinnyLynn S.
This place has my favorite donuts. Chocolate cruller, Lemon drop, and the fun donut of the month! Nice location, always clean when I've visited. Love the TVs and the friendly service. Heath Ice cream shake is to die for!!! You can even put a donut in them!

So Fat Tuesday just came and passed and for FT I was looking to pick up some donuts to bring into the office and since they all love Spunky Dunkers, I decided to stop here for a couple dozen donuts. Well, here at Spunky Dunkers on Fat Tuesday they only had Paczkis (pack-z's? punch keys? pouch kies?) and I was somewhat disappointed since I wanted some donuts, but no matter, I figured I'd try it out, especially since it's a once a year thing. I ordered 2 dozen and the guy started to put my order together. They had a HUGE selection of different fillings for the paczkis so I just told the guy to just mix it up. A lady in front of me only got a dozen and I noticed as she was paying for a dozen of these things, it was $23! yikes! "hey buddy, can you make it just a dozen for me!" I mean I love my coworkers and all, but I ain't about to spend $50 on them! At the office, they were a complete hit. My coworkers love cutting spunky dunker donuts in half all the time so they can sample each of the different flavors and with the paczkis, it was no different. I got to taste a few different flavors this way and I loved each one of them. A coworker even said that these were the best she's ever had and she's polish! Quite the compliment! My father in law brought over some paczkis from another place to my house that night and I was quite disappointed that they were not made by Spunky Dunkers. they just didn't measure up at all. Now all I can do is dream of the day next year that Spunky Dunkers will bring back these delicious paczkis so I can have them again.

Can't give too much of a review here. We've been once, but this place is a staple in the area. It was clean, a nice selection (for a Sunday afternoon), and a lot of different options for coffee. My doughnut wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was pretty darn good (blueberry glaze). My husbands peanut doughnut was outstanding. I'll be back!
(4)Catherine P.
Spunky is not the word I would use to describe the young lady that helped us with our donut making decisions. I was shocked to find such a miserable young lady working their front counter. I almost wanted to leave and not buy anything but I didn't really notice her bad attitude until after I had said I wanted a half dozen donuts. The place is cute. It appeared to be clean and well-maintained. The donut selection when we went was a little lacking but we easily selected 6 donuts to take home. We broke into one in the car on the way home and found it to be fresh and delicious. I would like to go back but I may try a different location. Hopefully there are happier people working there!

First of all, they have an extra star in my book for having a drive thru. After a particularly rough day, my husband and I decided to get some ice cream on the way home from a relative's house. Not familiar with the area, I looked up the nearest Oberweis. There's one right down the street from this place. However, no drive thru. So, we found the next ice cream place which was Spunky Dunkers. And, it's open til 10 pm so that's a plus as well. Of course, I was intrigued and immediately interested by the name so we went of course. Although we didn't order donuts or coffee, we both enjoyed our ice cream. We both ordered chocolate chip cookie dough, but it was really just chocolate chip. Both of us had a max of 3 chunks of cookie dough, so it was a little lacking there. I prefer my cookie dough ice-cream to have cookie dough in it. A suggestion I have is that they would have a list of their ice cream flavors outside. Other ice cream places use flip cards so that when the flavors change everyday, people can know if they go through the drive thru. Because it wasn't terribly helpful when we asked what flavors they had, and she said "you don't really want me to list them all off, do you?". Um. Ok. No. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our ice cream. And they have a drive thru. And they're open late. I would like to return in the future for donuts and coffee if I'm in the area again.
(3)Jess F.
Great donuts and the long john's are amazing! Ice cream is very good from here too. They have a wide variety of items to choose from so there is something for everyone. Staff is very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back for more.
(5)Tricia D.
Is there more to life than having access to a drive thru for a specialty donut-ice-cream-coffee shop? I really don't think so. Reason #3 for looking forward to my hair appointments is that my salon is right around the corner from this location of Spunky Dunkers. On my last visit, I snatched up pumpkin cream puffs, a chocolate cream puff, and red velvet and pumpkin donuts. I was mildly curious about the honey dew glazed one, but not enough to try it. Though this donut place is open late (for the burbs and for it not being a chain), the goods are really fresh! I love the flavors and cakeyness of the donuts I picked up. Final sell: you really haven't lived until you have a Spunky Dunkers cream puff!
(4)Mackenzie-An N.
Went there this past Saturday morning and it wasn't busy at all. I got red velvet and blueberry donut holes (they come in 1/2 or a dozen) and my husband got cinnamon roll. My husband loved the cinnamon roll and I loved the donut holes, particularly the red velvet. Loved them so much I asked my husband to come back yesterday but they only had 3 red velvet left. They are popular and rightfully so!
(4)David R.
I drove pretty far out of my way this morning to try their apple fritter, and unfortunately it was not worth the trip. I ordered four doughnuts in total, and the whole bag was a string of disappointments. The toasted coconut tasted all right, but I expected it to be a cake doughnut; instead it was yeast-raised, so the dough portion was not tacky enough to hold the coconut, which fell off in clumps. The lemon drop hardly tasted of lemon at all, let alone real lemon. In fact, I detected a lot of artificial ingredients in all of these things. The bavarian creme--aka boston creme--was actually pretty good, but again, I know that they are not stuffing that thing with homemade custard. And how about that apple fritter? Not good. It was slightly under-cooked and very under-spiced, but the worst offense was the execrable glob of gelatinous canned apple-pie filling injected into its center. There were no real apples present. Fritter fail. A few positive points: + Drive-through window, in case you already know what you want + Surprisingly no wait, inside or in the drive-through, on a Friday morning + Super cheap--my selection of four cost only $4.76 with tax + Friendly employees I can appreciate low-cost foods of all kinds, but for a high-calorie indulgence like doughnuts, I would rather pay premium for high-quality stuff. Therefore, Spunky Dunkers is not for me.
(2)Amy A.
I don't care for this place. I think the donuts are ridiculously large, way more than a person could/should consume. They are way, way over priced. The selection is extremely limited, and to round it all off, the food doesn't even taste that good. I'll pass.
(1)Steve D.
Stopped by here again. I have to boost my original rating. The donuts here are really great. Good coffee too. I know that because I tend to stop in later in the day that the donut selection is not too large, but the coconut donuts always seem to be available and they're my favorite. Cheers to all
(4)Steve P.
Slap yo mama good! Seemed like they had a billion donut varieties. It made going through the drive thru difficult trying to make decisions. I'm a fan of chocolate iced old-fashioned. But their menu says they have plain old-fashioned, or regular chocolate iced cake. I inquired about my favorite - they were getting ready to put a batch of the old fashioned in, and they were happy to ice them up for me! It was the afternoon, so I wasn't holding anyone up behind me. I have no idea what prompted me to be so bold as to ask, but I felt special when they said they'd make them just for me. And they were perfect.
(5)Christine A.
Three words: donut drive-thru. Need I say more? I've only done the drive-thru both times I've been here and each time I am impressed with the selection and the price! I believe a dozen hasn't set me back more than $10 either time. The best flavor is the chocolate with cream on the inside. There's a toffee flavor too which is awesome. They have a mix of cake donuts and the lighter variety. The inside looks intriguing. I'll definitely pop in soon, but the drive-thru is soooo convenient!
(5)Stan P.
Good selection of doughnuts very fresh and delicious.
(4)Susan B.
Stopped by during a downpour, reason I remember is because there was a bit of a walk from the parking spots to the door. Not a big deal normally but when its raining cats and dogs kinda stinks. Anyways, no one else was in the place, probably because of the rain. We ordered a peanut butter and jelly and apple spice donut. Both were delicious. The only thing I found a bit off was the blasting Spanish music coming from the back. And is there really a Dunkin Donuts right behind them!?
(4)Andrew M.
Made my 1st trip to Spunky Dunkers on Sunday to pick up donuts for some friends that were visiting. I had heard good things, and I was interested to try them out for myself. First, they have a drive-thru window. This is amazing. I didn't even have to get out of my car to get these delectable breakfast treats. Having never been there, I didn't really know what to expect. A dozen donuts are only $9.95. WHAT?!? Yes, 12 fresh and delicious donuts for under $10 without leaving the comfort of your car. The list of donuts is quite extensive. As I was in the drive-thru, I decided to let them surprise me with an assorted dozen of their choosing. They could have thrown 12 of the same donut in the box, and I still would have enjoyed it. These are excellent donuts. These are also the 1st donuts I have ever enjoyed dipped in coffee. I figured I had to try it with dunker in the name, and I was not disappointed. I look forward to going back soon to try some other varieties of donuts and their coffee and/or ice cream.

We were on our way out of town after leaving a party. It was 10:55pm when we spotted Spunky's. Not knowing they close at 11, we walked to the door. Not only were we greeted with smiles, but when I ordered a coffee, the sweet girl behind the counter brewed me a fresh pot!!! Talk about excellent customer service. I felt bad they stayed open, but the manger said not to worry, as they would be there anyways closing up. To top off our experience, my husband choose a red velvet doughnut. He made me try s bite. It was so GOOD! We bought a 1/2 dozen to take home. My only complaint? We don't have a Spunky's in Rockford By far the best doughnuts I have ever had!!!!!
(5)Rod D.
Freshly made donuts with a wide variety! They use good quality ingredients and results in a tasty donut.
(4)Deana R.
Love spunky dunkers. I would eat them every day if i could. The donuts are made fresh daily. Also had their paznckis (sp?) for the first time and they were delicious. Banana was my favorite
(5)Lisa M.
Stopped today for Apple fritter, super Fresh, really good taste, the only complaint was that the apples were filled inside not fried in the dough.Very good though. I cant wait to try the donuts. I would come back for sure.
(4)Jason B.
3 stars for now. It's my own fault because I didn't get there until about 7pm on a Sunday, but as someone else mentioned, donut supply in the evening is pretty non-existent. No apple fritters, no mint chocolate donuts of the month, and nothing that tasted fresh...at all. I'll go again, earlier obviously, and will update my review then.
(3)Ryan H.
Way better than the donuts from Dunkin donuts in my opinion. They are a heavier kinda cake donut. Extremely good and it's quite cheap. I always get German chocolate and vanilla ice cake. Both are delicious. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. Best place to get donuts.
(5)Vicky A.
I've been to the palatine location before, but this is my first time at the Arlington heights location. I love their donuts. Both locations are kind of out of my way, but I will go once a month. I had the coconut Caramel delight and it was really good. The people working there were nice. They have a pretty big seating area with a tv. It is worth going there if you are contemplating the long drive. All of their donuts are delicious.
(5)Anne P.
I've visited the Palatine store many times and was so excited that Spunky Dunkers is in my neighborhood!! They offer a great selection of high quality donut! Truly a co-worker & family favorite!
(5)Brian W.
Awesome donuts. Will gladly pay a dollar higher for a dozen fresh high quality donuts. I brought in a dozen for my employees. Within five minutes all 12 were eaten. I work in downers grove. My employees are asking to start bringing in once a month.

Dear Yelp, please hide this review from my wife. :-) I am on a diet and have diligently ignored Spunky Dunkers every time I've driven past. However, I must confess, last week I didn't drive past, I pulled in. I was telling myself the whole time that I was *ONLY* going to get a cup of coffee. That is, until I saw the apple fritters. Oh my -- goodbye self-control That was the BEST apple fritter I have ever had in my life. Now, I need to find another route to drive to my office because I can't overcome the voices in my head when I drive past Spunky Dunkers now. :-)
(4)Matt M.
This place gets way more credit than it should. But to be fair it does have the truck stop/neighborhood donut shop feel you can not get at Dunkin Donuts or other large chains. The donuts are ok but they don't blow you away. They are reasonably fresh and you can have the donut/sit down experience that is slowly dying in America,
(3)Juanita G.
I love their doughnuts! Sure doughnuts are trendy in the city but Spunky's Dunkers are much better. Their Red Velvet is my favorite with the Blueberry a close second. Their glaze is perfect. Service is always polite and efficient. They have a great variety and make them fresh all day. I prefer doughnuts for dessert (I've been known to pick a dozen up on the way home) I just wish I could eat them more often!
(5)Becky L.
These are the best donuts I have had. They are fresh, perfectly cooked, with a slightly crisp exterior and fluffy, cakey inside. They have many varieties, some of them unusual. I go out of my way to get Spunky Dunkers.
(5)Sherwin C.
I love this new location in Arlington Heights for several reasons. The donuts are just as good as the original location. Favorites like the chocolate bavarian, homestyle, blueberry cake, apple fritters, and glazed french are very aromatic with a great texture (baked). They also offer day old donuts for $4 a box which are a delicious bargain. This location is also more spacious with a modern feel to it and LED lighting. The location is extremely clean and they have a more upscale feeling to the menu with the use of Monin syrups, Sherman ice cream, and Conscious Cup free trade coffee. Even the bathrooms have a nicer feel to them with the use of Moen faucets and Xlerator hand dryers. I do have a small issue with the parking. They don't lack space but the layout is kind of strange since you have to fight with people moving through the drive-thru. Because of the spot, I guess you can't have a setup similar to Dunkin, McDonalds, or Portillos drive-thrus. Also, if they have any specials or coupons, it is not easy to find them. I buy two or more dozen at a time pretty regularly every year for friends, events, and co-workers so it'd be nice if there was an easily printable coupon or permanent special for larger purchases. Although I've been to Spunky Dunkers three times in less than a week, I do feel like making another visit to try something else right now. One last thing to keep in mind though, not all items are available all times of the day. I still haven't gone there at the right time when they have mini donuts available at all. But given how delicious every flavor is, I don't mind eating a full donut every time.
(5)Jennifer S.
Spunky Dunkers, why aren't you located in Bartlett?!?! I stumbling in for the first time on a Saturday morning in August. They had a ton of guests and seemed overwhelmed. And they didn't have hot chocolate available yet. I thought it was a rough start to the visit. I chose a few donuts to bring home and share with my guys. But, before I even left the parking lot, I had to try the peanut butter and jelly donut. It was stellar! A sweet peanut butter icing on top of a fluffy donut filled with an apple-raspberry (maybe??) jelly. I don't even like jelly filled donut, but this one was different. It was unforgettable. The rest of the donuts were good. Sadly, I bought a peach donut and I didn't get a bite. My hubby ate it and informed me that he thought it was a plain donut. Apparently, the peach flavor was light. Favorites also included the red velvet and a chocolate cream puff type donut. Donuts are $1 each or just under $10 a dozen. Unfortunately, I learned on my second visit that long johns are an extra $.25 which I paid, but I was annoyed. I don't know any other donut shops that do that and I thought their donuts were high enough already.

I spotted this box in the restaurant where I work, yesterday. I liked the name, but I wasn't sure what was inside of the box. I chose a cake donut . The flavor and texture was reminiscent of donuts that my Mother used to buy when I was young. They were called Dunkin stix! My cake doughnut was crusty on the outside, and fluffy and cavernous on the inside. It was lovely, and I couldn't forget the taste. I hope there will be another doughnut to try very soon. Roberta W.

I had a craving for donuts one Saturday morning, but didn't want to trek down to the city so I found this shop in the 'burbs. So my boyfriend and I went on a Saturday morning to pick up a dozen of them to sample. We sampled: - Old Fashioned: pretty good, relatively moist, but nowhere near as good to the place in the city (Do-Rite) - Red Velvet: I liked this one a lot - I enjoyed the cake like texture and it was a heartier, heavier donut. It could have used a bit more red velvet flavor, but overall, good donut. - Blueberry Cake: delicious and same cake like texture of the red velvet donut. - Lemon Drop: I loved the lemon filing in this donut. It was nice and refreshing. The donut was somewhat heavier than the old fashioned, red velvet and blueberry cake ones. - Chocolate Bavarian: the cream was delicious, but nothing about this donut really stood out to me. It was somewhat like one from Dunkin Donuts. - Chocolate Ring: standard donut - no complaints, but not outstanding. - French Twist: light, airy and pretty darn good - you could eat tons of these before you really feel it hit you since they are that light. We gave the rest away so I can't comment on those. Overall, good for what its worth and far better than Dunkin Donuts, but not as good as the shops in the city. However, I definitely would come back to get the red velvet ones since those were very good. The staff is friendly and the shop is pretty cute.
(3)Samantha L.
Honestly. Seriously. For Reals. This is probably one of the best doughnuts that I've had in a long time - and that's coming from a veritable doughnut connoisseur. I've been to the highly touted Donut Vault in Chicago, I am the mayor/duchess of Top Pot Doughnuts in Seattle (and I was there for only 5 days) and that was in between my three trips to The Daily Dozen in Pike Place - I will travel far and wide for a good doughnut, and the Vanilla Long John here was blow your face of good. The iced rings are standard fare, but oh so good when they're done the Spunky Dunkers way, the German Chocolate was really good too, and I'm looking forward to trying some more the next time I pass through Arlington Heights. Very clean location and the girls that work here are super nice. The day old doughnuts are a great deal, and still taste great -just nuke them for 20 seconds and you are golden. You pretty much have to come here. I mean, you have to.
(5)Harold S.
I came across Spunky Dunkers by accident but they are the best donuts I've ever had. My favorite is the toasted coconut. Toasty on the outside with a delicious creamy flavor underlying it. For my 60th birthday we brought home a couple dozen assorted and built a donut tower with candles instead of a cake and everyone loved it. The store is sparkling clean as well as the bathrooms . Very pleasant at the counter. I highly recommend them.
(5)Nicole L.
They have donuts which are average. I actually like Dunkin Donuts' double chocolate better but the honey dipped and jelly filled donuts are pretty good.
(3)Carol Y.
I have entered doughnut heaven. I always knew of Spunky Dunkers. I pass by the location on Northwest Hwy very often and I have friends that live right around the corner from it and still never stopped in. Then this location opened up in the old Brown's Chicken building and even though it was closer to my house, I still had never stopped in. Maybe it's because I like doughnuts but there are other baked goods that I would I put higher up on my list of items I would be willing to break my so called diet for. Well that all changed with my recent trip. After my dad saw them featured on "Chicago's Best", he insisted on getting some of those chocolate cream puffs. We found some coupons online and also saw they had a special Monday thru Wednesday for a dozen doughnuts for 8 bucks. The selection included 6 chocolate cream, 2 lemon, 2 blueberry, and 2 long johns. The chocolate cream "puff" was featured on TV and it was to die for but it also isn't really a puff. Anyone that has had a standard cream puff knows its almost a cream sandwich with 2 puff pastry "buns". This one is chocolate cake filled with cream. The cake was rich and by far one of the best cake like doughnuts I have ever had, which is saying a lot since I am not a huge fan of cake doughnuts. My dad and mom finished off the other kinds and I was told they were all very good but its the chocolate one that will keep us coming back. A quick note, yes the long johns are an additional 25 cents, which didn't matter to me but I can see how it would upset some people since I didn't see it clearly marked anywhere. The service was fabulous. The young girl taking my order was friendly, polite, and patient. I had a variety of questions and she helped me out a great deal. The manager was there as well and while he was speaking with someone while I was there, he made sure to greet me and say good bye when I left.

After lunch I was in the mood for a little dessert and recalled that this new Spunky Dunker location had ice cream. So I headed over with the idea of buying a pint or a quart and taking it home. The store wasn't too busy around 2:30PM - kind of an off hour, so I walked up to the counter and saw 8 flavors of ice cream. I was hoping for a few more options, but with ice cream almost any kind is worth a try. The staffperson asked if I wanted to try a sample, so I requested chocolate. It was quite tasty and flavorful, so I thought I'd get a pint. However a hand packed price was not posted, so I asked and was told that, "unfortunately pints and quarts are not available yet." Oh well. So after enjoying the sample, I still wanted to take some with me, but wasn't up for a dish or a cone, so I opted for a chocolate chocolate milk shake. It was REALLY good. Had bits of chocolate in it too, so at the end, I had to drink it straight (vs using the straw) and enjoyed every piece. Brought some donuts home as well - equally satisfying. Other than the absence of the hand packed ice cream, everything was fine. Friendly staff too - a plus in my book.

Yum, yum, yum.... My yum's can go on forever! I really try to stay away from this type of food, but I couldn't resist trying it out, ESP with such great Yelp reviews. I had a red velvet donut with some coffee on my first visit. Delicious, full of flavor, moist, anything you can want in a donut. Their coffee is great too... and cheaper which is a good thing because Starbucks is across the street. My issue is that I will soon be moving near this location, so I hope my visits don't happen too often. Last weekend, I wanted to bring my bf here for the first time and we ended up getting breakfast. This time around, I had a pumpkin donut and I have absolutely no complaints, but anything pumpkin is always good. Again, coffee is great, we both had Carmel lattes and it woke us up. The best part of Spunky Dunkers is the drive-thru...absolutely convenient when you are in a rush in the morning, or it's too cold to get out. I haven't been inside, so can't comment on how it looks, but both times, the guy working there has been very nice. There is another location in Palatine that I read is open 24/7, but If you are in the area IN BG, I recommend stopping by to fill up that sweet tooth ;-)
(4)Kimberly P.
Bummed ...... Had a coupon, took the kids and was super disappointed. Great flavor ideas but not executed well they were dry and unnatural tasting. Too bad 8( I like Mom and Pop businesses but will not go back.....I'll stick with Wheeling Doughnuts on Dundee. The staff was friendly though......
(2)Mike A.
You would think they would be out of their minds to open a donut shop around the corner from Dunkin Donuts, but hey they did it. The donuts here are great, but one time my donut did not taste very fresh, I assume it was made early am and the batch did not move during the day. They have a great deal on day old dozen donuts, but my wife told me to skip it; knowing full well that it would all be gone in one day :) I wish them well as it is a decent product and they also offer a small ice cream selection. Its also a good way to convince the kids to stop by at Dengeos down the street for dinner/lunch; with the premise of getting a donut after wards here.
(4)Dennis S.
This place has without a doubt the BEST donuts and pastries I have ever had. Apple fritters are to die for. Their punchkies (don't ask me how to spell it) at Fat Tuesday are the best I've ever had. Fillings are more than generous in a cake donut that is just right. What I like about their donuts is that I don't have that greasy aftertaste that you get with donuts from chains ( not mentioning names, but DD comes to mind). Service is always friendly and you walk out with the feeling that they really appreciate your business.
(5)Gordon G.
By far the best donuts around. Just go... you will not be disappointed.
(5)Kim B.
Good donuts, wide selection. I would prefer Spunky Dunkers over Dunkin Donuts any day.
(4)Jennifer L.
WOW. That's what comes to mind when I think of Spunky Dunkers. I didn't even used to LIKE donuts. This place has changed my mind about them. An addict, ever since my first tasting a few short months ago. Their donuts truly are bursting with flavor. Everything from the filled ones right down to the plain donuts with sprinkling of sugar. Personally, I am a fan of the more "cake-like" ones, and their Blueberry and Red Velvet varieties are the reason I can't stop going.... O.M.G. Building seems either new or renovated - very bright and clean. What I'm guessing is the owner seems to be there quite a bit, and always says "bye" or "thank you" while walking out the door. All 3 or 4 times I've seen him he was sitting at a table with someone talking. The ONLY reason i take 1 star off, is because I have gone on two separate occasions in the afternoon to get some, and their "aisles" were bare, with only a few flavors to choose from. Apparently when they run out in the afternoon, they're not making more...?? Which I don't understand, but whatever. So, I've just kinda of figured since I'm not a morning person - ya snooze, ya lose. So now I don't come here on the weekends at all. It seems pretty safe in the afternoons on weekdays, more-so than weekends. Your mouth will love you forever, and have you begging to come back. Go on, indulge yourself and give 'em a try.
(4)Mike R.
Took the kids for ice cream. They don't have root beer floats or soft serve ice cream even though it's on the menu. I was shocked they actually had doughnuts. Won't go back.
(1)Sarah P.
Always good! I drive from near gurnee just to get their doughnuts. I love the chocolate iced cake and buttermilk. Actually got a buttermilk that was still hot the other day...amazing! My husband loves the red velvet and toasted coconut.

holy cannoli. this place is fantastic. You walk in and are instantly wafted with this beyond-incredible aroma of nothin but DONUTS. Only complaint---too many options to choose from. hehe. as with any other donut shop, this place is the death of me (as far as healthy eating is concerned...) but that's quite alright, because donuts are a necessary part of any balanced lifestyle. Sooo I got in my car, opened up the box of delicious confections and knew I was in trouble. Ayyy, it's just that each time I drive by here I cannot resist stopping in for some donuts. Too good. All I have to say is - apple fritter. I don't ever eat the inside of these guys (with the apple-pie-like filling), but the outside/remainder of the donut!!! forget about it.

Yay Spunky has arrived! Okay, it's been around for awhile now but I'm so busy eating their delicious fresh donuts, I've lost track of time. The coffee is not bad but it's not great too. I usually stop into Spunky and walk across the lot and grab some Dunkin. Their jelly stuffed donuts are extra special soft. Cinnamon Roll is also great but cost a little extra.

I have been here twice and both times were excellent! I brought 2 dozen assorted donuts into work for everyone and they were all asking where they were from! I love that they have a ton of flavors to choose from! My favorite was the seasonal pumpkin spice cake donut..but i also loved the coconut ones! Also super convenient because its open 24/7. Definitely worth stopping by if you are in the area..or even if youre not!

We buy donuts for functions throughout the year and they are always a hit. The donuts are always fresh and tasty. We used to drive to Palatine for years so its nice having one closer.

Fresh and fabulous donuts! I couldn't decide which one to try so I bought a dozen to try a little of each... and I've been thinking about them daily since. The red velvet and the chocolate cream puff ones are amazing! Definitely fresh and homemade.

Does not get any better!!! Super nice people and great doughnuts!!

I had it last time here. It was great

Amazing donuts. Good variety, very reasonable prices and everything always tastes fresh. They do something amazing in the way they fry everything that makes all of their products super crispy and delicious You cannot even compare this place to Dunkin Donuts. That's like comparing a delicious prime rib dinner to a hamburger from McDonalds.

This place is fantastic. I had never been until about 3 Months ago. Great atmosphere, donuts and coffee. Make a trip.

I remember the first time I had a Spunky Dunkers Donut at their NW Hwy location 5+ years ago. I was preggers at the time, hubby & I were driving around in the area, and the minute I saw the sign, I got a craving and we had to stop in. We ate a half-dozen donuts within an hour that day...and by "we", I mean the baby and I. I still have cravings now and it's not cuz I'm preggers. So when I heard they had a new location in Arlington Heights, we had to stop in...it took us a while but finally got there this weekend. It was a good first impression. Definitely a larger space and an updated feel with plenty of tables and seating. But, I kind of miss and prefer the coziness and old-school feel of the NW Hwy location...Mom&Pop-type donut shop, complete with swivel stools and countertop/bar. Regardless, these donuts are the bizness. I think I've tried most of them over the years and they're all delicious. We had the chocolate icing, powdered, blueberry, the Taffy Apple and the Honeydew. My daughter LOVED the honeydew (it's one of her fave fruits). Perfectly fresh and just plain awesome. The AH location also has ice cream...we didn't try it, but it looked good. We're planning to have donuts a la mode on our next visit. And staff were terrific - greeted us immediately and took our order right away. I'm a bit relieved they're not as close to us in location as I would like them to be, and i know my waistline is definitely thankful for that. I could see myself eating these donuts (lots of them) several times a week!

They served me spoiled frozen yogurt to the point where it was so sour tasting it was undeniable. When I called to inform the manager of the issue, he was not only horribly rude but also implied I was stupid, "well you realize it's yogurt, ma'am." Yes, I do, thank you, and you realize spoiled dairy is spoiled dairy and a health risk? He didn't offer to refund my money or give me some sort of credit..just horrible horrible customer service and because of that man's attitude and bad food, I will not be going there again. Beware the frozen yogurt!

My daughter and I stopped by the new location and were very impressed with the RED VELVET donuts. They were delicious. A very CLEAN place, with a variety of flavors I've never seen before. Who cares about the Dunkin Donuts around the corner? Spunky Dunkers donuts don't have that manufactured supermarket quality about them. They are make FRESH. Will definitely return!

seriously good doughnuts! lots of flavors. two locations. kids love 'em.

The name was intriguing so we decided to stop in. The donuts were unbelievably great. I had a chocalate glazed and a glazed. Wealso bought a custard filled donut for home. All were amazing. They were fresh , not greasy and just the right denseness. Have long been turned off to Dunkin Donuts as the donuts never taste freshly made. Even tho this donut shape is not near my home I will go back again and again. Even the coffe was great- better than Dunkin in every way.

the donut that looks like a hostess cupcake is really good!!!!!!!!

STALE samples, one fresh donut, one stale donut, icey, rubber textered ice cream, HORRIBLE sour coffee The Dunkin Donuts on AH Road will hurt this place in the long run,not the bad one next door. Spunky =JUNKY(we both got terrible tummy aches). Their loc on N.W. Hwy has always been terrible(try throwing out the hours old donuts, you never will),invest in good coffee and learn how to brew!!Iice cream is blah can you understand this? understand the importance of clean clean clean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This place is great!! Doughnuts are to drive for! Monica, Patricia and Luis are always going above and beyond to make sure my stop is perfect. The german chocolate and coconut doughnuts are my favorite Omar

The owner was very friendly. The donuts were very yummy. The place was very clean, and most of all, it was excellent.

Went here and picked up a dozen before work. Doughnuts were $1 each or $10 for a dozen. They were very rich and you could tell they were fresh. All my co-workers loved them. I try not to eat doughnuts much, but next time I find myself in need, I will be sure to come here.

BEST. DONUTS.EVER. PERIOD. I especially like the chocolate long Johns. A little pricey for a dozen, but worth it!
(5)Ellie S.
What a great find! Kept driving by it and decided to drop in. I really enjoyed their donuts. I ordered German Chocolate, Red Velvet and Caramel apple. All were good but the Caramel apple I could eat every day. It was definitely my favorite. I might add that I came late in the morning (not the best time for donuts) but, they were very fresh and lasted well the next morning. The gentleman at the counter was super nice and offered advice on my choices which I appreciated. Not a lot of parking and with kids you kind of have to walk by the drive in/thru to get into the place which was difficult but, well worth it for the delicious delights!

I zip through the drive thru every couple months to pick up 2 dozen for work. Always fantastic quality, very friendly service. This morning I got a cup of coffee too, and was I happy I did! Great coffee and they actually listened to how I ordered it (extra cream!) Why would anybody be driving through a Dunkin' Donuts when this high quality product is so available.

Very Tasty Donuts. If you are in the area you should definitely stop by. My waistline is thankful we aren't.

AMAZEBALLS! Ice Cream+Donut=Unreal Goodness.

Awesome new location! I used to go to the one in Palatine once or twice a month to get my donut fix - found out they opened a new location in Arlington Heights and decided to visit to see how it is. As soon as you walk into the new location the feel is totally different - its bigger and a lot cleaner. Walking towards the counter I was shocked to see ice cream there! They also have muffins, and of course donuts which smelled amazing.. I decided to try the ice cream and got the chocolate fudge and red velvet (yes they have red velvet ice cream!!!). First bite of the red velvet - and I was in ice cream heaven! The red velvet has small cake pieces mixed in! The chocolate is a favorite of mine too - it has hard pieces of fudge mixed in that melt in your mouth with every bite! There are other flavors available as well - Total of 8 I think. I highly recommend the ice cream and I've already been there twice just for the ice cream. The owner is super nice and friendly - told us the ice cream is from where he grew up in Michigan! I'll be going there tomorrow morning to pickup some donuts for my coworkers to bring some smiles on their faces :)

It's as much fun to eat as it is to say! We love this place. Best donuts we've had in a long time!!!
(5)Alex B.
This place is fantastic. Boston creme and apple fritter is out of control amongst everything else. The one person knocking this place probably owns the dunkin doughnuts next door and knows they have some serious competition. There actually is no competition. Try it, you wont regret.
(5)Preferred C.
Very good donuts. No funky taste of old grease! We purchased a dozen assorted and liked them all. It was close to noon when we ordered and all tasted fresh, including the coconut, which was moist and delicious. We went through the drive thru, so, we didn't see the inside, but the outside looked very neat and clean.

I love apple fritters and because someone below raved about the Spunky Dunker version, I had to go. I bought three. These large pieces of puffy fried dough with apple filling that you would ordinarily find on a Danish are not freakin' apple fritters!!! I suggest the folks at SD take a ride east on Dundee to Wheeling Donuts to see how they're made. Better yet, take the more serious ride down to 113th and Michigan Ave on the South Side of Chicago to Old Fashioned Donuts, the king of Chicago's apple fritters! See what they look like! Learn how to make them!

really good doughnuts here......they don't seem to be as good or as fresh as the original location over on NW highway, but they are still worth going out of your way for......it is amazing that people still go to dunkin, maybe for their coffee, because dunkin's donuts suck bad, taste stale and old compared to spunky's which are awesome especially the toasted coconut and the german chocolate
(4)Anthony C.
Donuts are pretty good but they are getting smaller & the prices have jumped a couple of times over the last year. More pay for less product, I don't go as much as I used to.
(3)Jennifer L.
I don't eat doughnuts very often and when I do it is usually Dunkin Donuts but last week I tried Spunky Dunkers and it was a revelation. Their seasonal pumpkin doughnut is really tasty with just enough spice to remind you of pumpkin pie. However, my favorite was the Boston cream filled doughnut, it was the best I have ever had!

I had the sour cream doughnut Saturday morning and it was the prefect mix of yeasty cake dough and light sweetness. I will be picking up two dozen for coworkers tomorrow.
