My rating is based on overall experience. Our server was very polite however was outnumbered by tables as the service was VERY slow. I am a very picky eater and decided to have the soup of the day with a Cesar salad and add chicken. The soup was delicious! It was warm, very tasty and perfect size. About 10 minutes before dinner was served the waiter told me that the chef would not add chicken to my salad. Honestly, for the couple hundred that was paid for our total meal, they could have thrown on a darn chicken breast! My dad had lamb shank and loved it. My grandmother had mussels but some were served closed. My brother in law had the ribeye but there was a lot of fat on his piece. The service was slow slow slow.

Awesome service, awesome food. My husband had the tbone and it was cooked perfectly. I had the Caesar salad and it was great as well. However the bread wasn't too good. Other than that everything was great.

This is probably the best restaurant I have ever eatin at that was inside a Holiday Inn, and actually one of the better ones I have been to period. I would normally give it 4 stars, but considering where it is, I think it deserves an extra star. Normally, holiday Inn restaurants are terrible places, and I avoid them, but it was late, and we were exhausted, so we gave it a chance. Bossman got the porkchop that was about 4 inches thick (no kidding) and I got the bourbon chicken. Both were excellent, and the pork wasn't tough, which was surprising Considering how big those chops were. A few things about Alton: East Alton is a rusty old industry town, a place in its hay day made some awesome stuff. They still have Winchester making ammunition their and Olin Brass cranking out precision copper and brass alloys. unfortunately, my reason to go there was to decommission some research equipment at the olin Brass Metals research Lab. Yeah, the bean counters shut down the research department. Stupid. I wonder what the heck is going to keep this country going in the future. Also, Alton was home to the worlds tallest man.

I was very doubtful about trying this restaurant, but there wasn't anything I could walk to. I was totally surprised. The "flatbread" is actually St. Louis style pizza and was very tasty and complex. They served a small warm and pretty tasty rustic nutty bread. The apple, gorgonzola, and walnut salad and entrees were very good. I have always been skeptical of hotel restaurants but this place was quite good. Worth going back.

A surprising find in the holiday inn in Alton. I am one who normally avoids hotel restaurants like the plague, but with nothing close to walk to I gave it a go. To my surprise, everything is made from scratch. The hamburgers were top notch, as was everything else I would eat there over the next three days. This hotel eatery is visited by the locals and should be on your list of rotation if you are local. Chef Kenny also gives cooking classes and demonstrations that are fun, tasty and educational.
