The food is great! They sponsored the meal for our Little League meeting for Alsip. The food was delicious! It was the first time I had food from there after seeing the place for years. I love Mexican food and was disappoint that I hadn't tried their food sooner.

Our service was fine. It was the food that was the problem. Never having been there before I got a chicken burrito. Hubs got a steak burrito. Mine was a soggy wet salty mess. I tried his, His was a soggy wet salty steak mess. It was probably the worst burrito I've ever had. It was so salty i couldn't even finish it. Only the Guac and chips were good. I would go out of my way to go somewhere else. I wish I'd read your review earlier TK, I will not go back to this place either. The burritos were that bad.

****RUNAWAY FROM THIS PLACE****** If I could give it ZERO STARS or NEGATIVE STARS I would El Gallo De Oro is a better bet on 5039 111th street or on 114th and Harlem. They treat people right. I'll never go back to Taco Burrito King. Just had a horrible experience at this place among many. This place is dirty , skimp on the ingredients and when they don't get your burritos or tacos right, then it's YOUR fault. On top of that the burrito isn't that great at all. It's a place that's just "there". I don't think they really care as they just cater to the late night bar crowds. Please don't support this bad establishment. I will never be back, or go to any of their "cheaped out" out chains. There are so many better restaurants out there.

If chipotle was open I would have went there. The steak burrito was ok definitely nothing to write home about. The overweight guy behind the counter was extremely rude enough for me to want to reach around the counter and have my hand be introduced to his face. Anywho, I asked if I could have beans on the side and he said you either want them or you don't. Who says that to a customer? Someone with a low IQ and a high BMI! When I was giving my order he answered his cell phone, thinking that was also super rude.

Ive been livin in the area all my life and been here couple times in years past, just didn't like there steak it was fatty. I broke down last night I wanted a super king burrito the biggest they have 8.99 or something. I ordered it told them just a little lettuce, beans, and tomatoes ( i hate a lot of fillers ) told the lady i haven't been in here in years is the steak not as fatty she said no fat. i told them a little extra cheese and sour cream. they give you a red hot sauce and green mild sauce on the side in plastic containers. mmmm amazing I haven't had such a big beautifuly burrito ever! the Steak was cut fine it was sooo tastey. i haven't had anything else on the menu so dont take my 5 star rating for everything but the Super King steak Burrito is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It really kills me to leave such a bad review but tonight I experienced some serious piss poor service. We were there today (1/12/2015) about 1am, we pulled up, ordered promptly and politely, however when she handed us the pen to sign the receipt and we accidentally dropped it holy shit this girls world turned upside down. We tipped her with some dollar coins that she literally threw at the register when we handed them to her, like, money is money wtf they were dollars! And then we get home, and she literally put our food in upside down, the tortilla chips were upside down and the salsa upside down leaking all over, there's no way she accidentally did this it was definetly deliberately put in the bag upside down. I get it u have to deal with drunk assholes all night but we were not them. Cheer up bitch.

The Burritos are HUGE and amazingly good. Total grease bomb but who cares about that when you're eating a burrito the size of a newborn. Ok, they're not THAT big, but they are quite large and extremely filling. I recommend a steak burrito!

  • Sue D.

Average food. They have big burritos but they are lacking big, bold flavors. Guacamole needs oomph. I have had this the guacamole, veggie burrito and enchiladas. They are mediocre in taste and the cook is very slow to get food out. I have never seen a lot of people inside. They need to use fresh black beans instead of canned too. Pricey for the food you get.

The tacos are excellent! Every taco burrito king chain I go to the food has been good. The tostada are great also!! This is my go to spot everytime I'm in this area!! Yummy

Best Burrito I've had in 10 years. King Fajita Al Pastor for $7.75 absolutely fantastic. This is a burrito made with Fajita seasoning and veggies.

The best taco plate in the south side. There's nothing tasty wire than it at 2-3 in the morning right at the end of the first week of dieting. Decisions, decisions, decisions. Not always wise ones. It's good eating at decent prices. I can't seem to fin a tastier taco anywhere. I've actually tried. My buddy prefers the place at 111th and Cicero and I like this one better.

I have had food from this chain before and it is pretty much your average run of the mill taco joint. The food is not the best, and not the worst, but the prices are definitely premium at $2.35 per taco and about $3 per tostada (which is what we ordered on our visit). I was not impressed one bit by the drive thru set up, no menu to help you decide what you would like to order, except a board with specials that is posted further ahead, past the order window, so it really defeats the purpose. Customer service was another disappointment, we were not greeted in anyform, which was awkward, we were just sitting there looking at the tattooed guy and just started ordering food we hoped they served. Fortunately they were able to accomodate us with our order. Unfortunately, the tostadas we ordered, according to the tattooed guy's description of what ingredients were on them, was not accurate. He failed to advise us that they put salsa on the tostada. My wife hates spicy food, so this would have been bad for her, except she spotted the cook pouring salsa on her tostadas thru the drive thru window and called the guy over. Needless to say, there was no apology for failing to tell us they also put salsa on the tostadas, just a quick turnaround to prepare new tostadas(minus the salsa) and send us on our way. Overall I do not see myself coming back here, unless it I am out late and need something to soak up a night of alcohol before heading home. At that point, I am sure any greasy, steak burrito will do, and I probably wont care about the customer service or drive thru menu, lol

Excellent Mexican food place, decent prices & fast service. You can see everything while your food is prepared. Taste is phenomenal.

Those of us that live in the northwest part of the city and suburbs are familiar with TBK and it's reputable mediocre yet addicting Mexican food. It is comforting to know that when I'm in the south burbs handling business (euphemism for drug dealing and other criminal acts) that I can stop in for a giant, messy burrito before I head home. I still cannot come up with a reasonable explanation as to why I enjoy TBK. It's completely average. I can't even say it's good "drunk food" because I eat it sober. All I know is that when I crave it, and I have it, it's completely satisfying. I believe they call it "comfort food". Even in Alsip, TBK is not the best Mexican food there is. But certainly not the worst.

    (4)
  • April K.

Let's see, they're open super late, my friends work there, they made me a special item not on the menu, the price is right, and my husband totally loved the GIANT burrito I got him. BUT, the bathroom is nasty and the food is so greasy I was nauseated for 24 hours after consuming it. I am torn, I like it but I advise you to try to refrain from ordering a taco, quesadilla, AND tamale at midnight and consuming them at hyper speed. Pace yourself.

  • Jason A.

Since this is one of my wife's favorite places I've been here way too many times. Sometimes this is one of the only non-bar places open late, so I do find myself here more often than I'd like. However, I've discovered the super nachos are definitely worth ordering, and the steak, while not superb quality, has been very consistent and not too fatty, so I'm giving them another star, but really it's 3.5 stars. They also really pile it on the super nachos. I'll edit this review after trying their taco salad, which I hope is basically the super nachos with lettuce, but in a taco salad shell. They charge extra for the marinated carrots and peppers I get free elsewhere, and they almost always forget them, luckily I know to check. Basically, make sure you verify the contents of your entire order before leaving if you're picking up, and you'll be satisfied. Not ecstatic, but satisfied.

Great place for some late night Mexican food. The staff is always friendly and the food is always satisfying. They also have a drive through, which totally rocks.

Great place for the money, best place for mexican in the area. They used to be a nightly tradition of mine while heading home after dropping off the music equipment. Their taco at the end of the night made everything worth it. They have a drive-thru!!! How can you beat that? Used to love Zaca's, but they went to the way side, Jalisco on 79th, they went bland and dry. TBK, please don't change...don't you ever change.

  • Jimmy B.

Well I have to tell ya that I have eaten many burritos. Most places you go to late nite are just ok, you are just happy something is open. Not this place. The first time I was the was after a nite of drinking and I took a burrito home. Wow was in fantastic. It was so good that the next morning (around 11am) I was back there to get another to see if it was the same sober, as opposed to after some drinks . It was fantastic again. Pricing is a wee bit higher than other, not so good places, But if was well worth it.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
