High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

The Good- Service was fantastic. Happily greeted by smiling faces dressed like they're going to a wedding. The inside has a 50's-ish diner feel which is fun for being a Mexican food restaurant. Prices are fairly reasonable and the portions are decent. The Bad- Our food came out cold, specifically the carne asada. Straight from the refrigerator, disgusting. There's 4 other couples in the whole place, all had their food. Why is my food cold? It took awhile to get the first time, so I was pretty upset about sending it back. Manager came over and took the plates, yelled at the cook and apologized to us. The Ugly- I don't want to hear you yelling at your kitchen staff. I also wish the kitchen served hot food so. Then the worst, they didn't even remake our food. Popped it in the microwave crema, lettuce, tomatoes and all. So then the owner comes over and tried to win us over with free drinks and another plate at 50% off. Thanks, but no thanks. I don't even want your tequila and that says a lot.

Chips are burned or fried too long. Mild Salsa is awful but spicy is okay. I ordered guacamole for an appetizer which was bland and the queso fundido which was okay. I ordered the enchiladas with habanero sauce which were okay. I also got the blue agave margaritas which was pretty good. I have been here three times over the past 7 years to see if it gets any better. Not a fan.

  • Michelle R.

We always order their tortas, tacos or burritos. They are pretty good. Sometimes they do skimp on the sour cream and cheese for the tortas though. Their horchata is really good, and I am very particular about my horchata :) We usually order take-out, but we have eaten inside a few times. The service is good and the servers are very pleasant. You can tell that the restaurant used to be some kind of diner, as they still have neon lights running across the wall, but that's no big deal. We will (and do) be coming back.

They have good food but bad customer service I called in for an order if you not Mexican or white they ignore you I sat there almost 5 minutes before they even spoke or asked what I needed they looked then find something to to so they don't service me that's why I don't tip and I a big tipper if service is on point the one in Orland is nothing like this one I guess because it not a Mexican community that's bad for business unless the owner condone that type of behavior

    Great steak tacos Great margaritas!

Horrible horrible horrible food. We used to get food from here since they opened, but the quality of the food has declined over the years. The steak is always more fat than meat. They are constantly burning things and trying to pass it off as acceptable. The only items that we can safely order are foods containing avocado. Its a shame. I live right behind this restaurant but I drive all the way to the Tinley or Orland locations just to get decent steak tacos. The restaurant needs to fix things before they lose even more customers.

This is a nice looking place inside, and I was excited to try a new place (for me) for Mexican food on the far south side. The first thing I noticed is they have a really weak chip and salsa set up going on, The chips are fine, but the mild salsa is honestly like tomato ketchup with a few onions and some cilantro thrown in. OK, maybe they will hit it out with a burrito suizo. Not really. The burrito was OK, but the refried beans were watery, and the spanish rice was a weird color orange, with no bits of corn or peas, just orange rice. So all in all, an average restaurant with average food.

Wanna know something? This place has the best margaritas I've had. Like ever. The mango is to die for. Service is quite attentive, the menu extensive, and the food is great. The chips and salsa at the table were a treat, as the mild one tasted like there was pineapple or mango in it, and it was so refreshing on a hot summer day. I usually order the chicken fajitas, and they're the best. Well, I think anyway. Don't be turned off by the fact that they share a wall with the gas station. It's clean (even though a little divey) and staff is super friendly.

Have been here a couple times because it's near my house and only heard good things. Definitely not disappointed, good food, service, and margaritas!

  • Kelly D.

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. First time I came here, I was a little nervous cause it seemed pretty sketchy from the outside as it's right next to a gas station. Forget that and walk in. The carne tapiquena is the shit. Good spicy salsa and strong margaritas. Not expensive and always tons of food left over. Please only tell people you like about this place, cause once people find out how good and cheap this place is, prices will likely double and they'll be packed.

If you leave this place a bad review you happen to be in the minority. I've NEVER had anything bad here and they are nothing but accommodating. Great food, great prices and great service. Thank you Burrito Jalisco!

I absolutely love this place. Service was grade A and so was the food. I recommend trying the Blue Margarita, it's my favorite. Although all the margarita's are really good and also half price on Mondays's and Tuesday's. The decor is really retro.....sort of like an old school diner, not typical for a Mexican restaurant, but who cares when your getting exceptional service, food and drinks!

The carne asade (steak) is the best I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. I was seriously impressed. I ordered the carne asada tampiqueña, and I will definitely be back.

Was there last night after picking up my son at Midway and glad I did. As everyone says, don't let the location fool you. First, I love it when I can choose me meats, not just same old hamburger in everything. Large servings, good drinks, 2 salsas, one very hot that we mixed with the mild to make it right. Look forward to my next trip to Midway.

I was so impressed with the Torta Vallarta the last time around, I had to try it again to make sure I didn't dream the whole experience.. By golly I was not dreaming!! The torta was real and sooo delicious.. Just as I remember it. Tender ribeye, gooey cheese, grilled onions and jalepenos. This sandwich kicks ass! Definitely a must try!! Bonus: The Carne Asada dinner my wife ordered, was mighty tasty and a good portion. Bonus 2: They have great Mango Margaritas and a full bar with great specials.

  • Diane D.

One of our favorites for authentic Mexican food... these owners have it figured out. When they bring the salsas -- ask for the salsa verde too (not sure why but they don't bring all 3 unless you ask). We are regulars and our favs are the Guisado de Puerco, Red Snapper, Carne Asada a la Tampiquena, Tacos de Carne Asada and Chilles Rellenos, Caldo de Res for dinner and Huevos Ranchero or Huevos con Chorizo for Breakfast. Great wait staff and we've never had a negative experience. You won't be disappointed.

Plain and simple- A phenomenal, family-friendly environment for great authentic Mexican cuisine. I tried the skirt steak dish, #1 and it was fantastic. The service is great, and the best part is that it's family owned and ran. Can beat this!

  • Mary E.

This is a great place, especially for Mexican breakfast. I haven't had a bad experience here; the service is as good as the food (fast & friendly). The coffee is delicious, they have a mariachi group a few nights a week, and you can order a drink if you want. The prices are fairly reasonable, too. It's right on Cicero, a really busy street, so it's not a cozy little out-of-the-way place, but the quality of the food makes up for that.

This has to be the cleanest restaurant in America. Besides having good food, and friendly service, I've noticed that nothing is out of place, and more than once I've had the tops of my shoes cleaned by an errant mop!!!

Most flavorful burritos out of all the joints arond here. Mariachi bands play there certain days too.

I was having the worse evening, but after indulging in this delightful cuisine I feel a little better. This is my second time going to this place and I must say it has not fallen short of wonderful and fulfilling. So far all the food is great! The bartender has a great personality and was very friendly!!! The host ringing me up....ugh let's just say maybe he was having a rough day... but overall great food and the drinks are wonderful!!!

Burrito Jalisco, I love you! This is good Mexican, people. And not just good "for the south side." I mean good-good, for anywhere, no qualifiers. The location is a bit strange--it shares a parking lot with a 7-11 gas station, and parking can be a bit scarce. And the decor is straight 50s diner, which is an admittedly odd juxtaposition with Mexican fare. But the service is prompt and friendly, the margaritas are strong and come in three sizes (though really, who wants a small margarita?), and the food tastes great. I have a hard time branching out because I love the Burrito Jalisco Platillo Estillo and the Torta Vallarta so much that I order one or the other every time I go, but I can also vouch for the steak fajitas and have been told the chimichanga, flautas, and tamales are all good. We seriously go here once a week, and I've yet to have a bad experience (and doubt I ever will).

Don't waste your time with La Fiesta or even Las Fuentes South Siders! Yes this place is located right by a gas station...but please don't let that deter you from coming in. The food is excellent and so is the customer service. I suggested this place for my mom's birthday and my friend's birthday. The workers decorated the table and let us store a birthday cake in their fridge...no extra charge. Everyone who I bring here raves about the food and they are always willing to come back...even out-of-towners:)

Good authentic food. We've had the tortas, tacos and fajitas. All to go orders. The food was packed well and served with spicy vegetables and plenty of salsa. We also ordered chips to go and we the order was huge. We plan on returning.

The two things get you when you walk through the door is that the place is clean and that the waiters all wear ties, a touch class Have tried several dishes here and the food is tasty and plentiful. My go to favorite is always the taco dinner. The waiter we had on our last visit was very attentive, my glass was never empty and he made sure that everything was okay. The only odd thing is that this place is located in a gas station strip mall, but once inside you can't tell. They also have a full service bar in the front of the restaurant.

Man, I am about six years late writing this review. Take heed, this review will be a compilation of two dozen experiences! We have had some really great times, and some really mediocre times. In my opinion, the manager has things on point, but sometimes they get so busy that things seem to slip. Mainly, this has to do with the food quality. When things are really busy, or really slow, we tend to get some stinkers. One of my favorite things to get here is the torta vallarta. It is unique and spicy and hits the spot! Their giant margaritas are pretty neat as well. My wife gets mostly veggie dishes from here, and sometimes we run into problems. The biggest problem was a takeout order which was supposed to have vegetarian enchiladas (just cheese ;) We get it home, unpack everything, and they were loaded up with chicken. The manager was cool as heck, but we had to go all the way back over the bridge to get the new order. They confirmed that the receipt had it as no meat, but the chef felt it would not be great without chicken! ;) So they swapped them out, and even let us keep the chicken ones (so I could eat em later!) They did right by us, but it was an extra time consuming and left me eating a cold dinner once we got home. Either way, this place is a solid three stars...I would almost give it five if it were more consistent!

Finally tried this place after passing it over for being attached to a gas station (which is no longer there). The food is wonderful and the service is fantastic! When they offer spicy they are NOT kidding! Their Mexican style guacamole was toe curling but amazing and the taco's were great also. Tried the house margarita and wasn't disappointed. Will definitely be back!!

  • Patrick E.

Love their Carne Asada! Always a huge portion; enough to take home for snacks the next day. They have great service and the price is excellent too. Don't let the gas station neighbor throw you off; this is excellent food.

Tonight I drove to Burrito Jalisco with some hesitation after reading several recent mixed reviews -- but the service was excellent (in spite of the fact the place was packed!) and the carne apache plate was hot and delicious! The price was very reasonable. I'd go back there again in a heartbeat!

Very good home made food. Everything is very authentic and tastes amazing. This place is always packed though so be prepared, but that obviously means the food is yummy!

Love Burrito Jalisco! Great specials on their delicious margaritas (3 different sizes all 1/2 price) Mon-Wed. So we always get some margaritas and then split the Tequila Combination (appetizer platter) and its always awesome. Everything is made to order, but the wait is never long. They always serve chips and salsa (mix the two salsas together - it's better that way). Service is great, very polite and friendly staff. Very spacious and can easily accommodate large groups, or just a one couple in a booth.

100% authentic Mexican food. Burrito Jalisco is located next to a gas station, it reminds me of the "Tittie Twister" from From Dusk till Dawn, restaurant in the middle of nowhere. The interior of the restaurant is designed as a retro 1960's diner. Once inside there is a full bar to the left, several booths along the walls and tables throughout to sit. The checkered floors, stainless steel counters, table tops, seats and bathroom are all sparkly clean! A detail that is extremely important to me. Their extensive menu provides a long list of drinks, alcoholic and non alcoholic, delicious appetizers and entrees.(I don't drink alcohol or anything else but water, so I won't comment on their beverages) I have enjoyed almost every appetizer and entree on the menu. Out of the entire menu, I have only been dissatisfied with one meal due to its super spiciness, I couldn't tolerate the heat in my mouth! The food portions are enourmess, enough to take half home to enjoy later. The service is absolutely excellent each and every time! I have been there hundreds of times and never had a negative or disappointing experience. The friendly wait staff is attentive, never do I have an empty water glass or a need for extra napkins, they are always a step ahead. Because I'm a frequent flyer, they know exactly what my boyfriend and I will be drinking, a glass of water for me and a limon jarrito for him. They have yet to disappoint. My favorite dish is the chicken enchiladas in mole, they leave me salivating for more( after I finish my leftovers)!! They offer drink specials throughout the week, all of their menu is reasonably priced. I'm surprised that I've been able to maintain a healthy weight since I do frequent the restaurant! For exceptional service and food, you can't go wrong going to Burrito Jalisco for a meal.

Leaving the bar at 2 in the morning, I always crave greasy unhealthy food....mostly because most days I am a health food freak. A friend told me to go here and get a burrito because they were huge and were only like $5. We spent like $12 and had food that night and for lunch the next day. It was amazing drunk and when we were hungover the next day! Everything is made to order, so it was super fresh. No scooping out of a meat bin and plopping it on a burrito shell! If I'm ever around the south side, I'm eating here again!

  • Keith B.

Too bad it is called burrito jalisco because it is not what I would call a burrito place, much more a real mexican restaurant. Better food than your typical burrito place on the south side, ample seating, friendly table-side service. Menu is much bigger than anyone else around and all the food is prepared well. I am addicted to the torta vallarta but have never had anything bad from here.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
