I have never wrote a review on Yelp before but I had to warn future skeptical first goers from going to this overpriced, over decorated and "tasteless" place of a restaurant. I travel very often and being that my father is of Peruvian decent, I always look for great Peruvian cuisine anywhere I go. As I search for this on Yelp, Rio's came up with 3 stars out of 327 reviews. I thought to myself, we might have a winner and the deal was sealed when I saw Peruvian dishes such as Ceviche and Lomo Saltado. I have never been so wrong in my life and Yelp has never failed me so badly out of all my years of using it as a guide. I arrive to Rio's and sat at the bar. The bartender starts small talk and I eventually ask where the chef is from and his exact words were "Our old chef was recently let go and he was from Peru." Yet he didn't know where the new, current chef was from. Already feeling like I already made a mistake, I decided not to jump the gun so I gutted it out and order a Ceviche Clasico (classic) for starters. Let's just say that Rio's needs to call back and rehire the chef from Peru they let go! Ceviche is a dish that even if it isn't made that well is very tasteful and delicious...this one was flat out horrendous. I also asked the platter to be a mix of fish and shrimp. The plate only came out with fish and I had to advise the bartender the shrimp was missing. The bartender came back from letting the chef know of the overlooked error and the bartender said "I went back and told the chef about the shrimp and he gave me this for you to have." It was a small bowl of shrimp "ceviche." This little bowl of shrimp was even more terrible than the fish Ceviche I previously had. In my book, if you can't conjure up regular ceviche don't try making fusion dishes of a classic Peruvian dish that is known around the world. Next was their $30 Boneless NY Strip...sounds scrumptious right?!?!....WRONG!!! I asked for this beautifully displayed piece of meat on their menu to be cooked medium, like any seasoned for days in aged spices meat is suppose to be. Never have I cut into the first piece of a NY strip and it not drip in juicy, slightly red, watery gravy goodness. It made me question if the steak was good medium at all so I kept cutting. At this very moment, a guy who I assume was shift manager at the time said "is there anything wrong with your steak?" I told him "I don't think it's cooked medium" and he glanced at it and said "I'm so sorry, I will get you another one" and asked if medium was the correct cook temp" which I said yes to. He comes back with the same steak butchered....I mean, cut in half, to show me that the steak was cooked medium. So you can imagine that I haven't even taken a bite out of the steak and it's been cut like 5 times already so I am saying to myself...this better be worth the taste. Yet again...WRONG!!! The steak was the most mediocre NY Strip I have ever tasted in my life and instead of $30, it should have been $9.99! I never knew what strip club food tasted like until I ate the steak. Out of frustration and hunger, also being out of town with the urge of just wanting to get back to my hotel, I manned up and just ate the damn thing. Afterwards the same manager guy asked me how was the steak and I told him bland and very mediocre for the price. None of that matter because he still charged me for it which I found hilarious but I felt bad because the place was pretty empty and seems like it doesn't get much business with the turnover of terrible first timer experiences that happens there. That explains a 3 star rating with 327 reviews. So I warn anybody and everybody...tread faraway from this location unless you want a horrible outing. Don't say you haven't been warn!

My favorite "go to" restaurant in the western burbs. Excellent mojitos, comfortable ambience and friendly wait-staff. Wonderful South American cuisine. Owner very hospitable!!!!!!!

My husband and I have been here on a number of occasions since they have opened. We love coming to this restaurant because the food has always been excellent. The complimentary fried yucca bread with various dipping sauces are a perfect start to the meal. Jalea de Mariscos is a great appetizer if you like deep fried calamari and mixed seafood. The Chupe de Camarones is a shrimp chowder that was okay but not as creamy like most chowders I've had. Because the dinner entrees tend to be large, we will generally split one dish. Our favorite and go-to dish has been the Corte de Entrana Estilo Rios, which is a wonderful combination of well seasoned and flavorful skirt steak, sweet fried plantains, black beans, fresh side salad, and rice. No matter what dish you go with be sure to order a side of sweet fried plantains, they're delicious! The only thing that kept me from giving Rio's a five star review is that the level of service can use some refinement. There are times when there are very few customers in the restaurant and it will take quite awhile before a server will take our order or even check up on our table to replenish our water or see if we are enjoying the meal. But there's been times, where we have had excellent service and our attentive waiter is well-versed with the food/drink and provides accurate recommendations based on our tastes. So overall, our experience has been very good and we plan to continue to make Rio's a regular spot for us to enjoy good food and time together.

Pretty shocked at how well we loved it here. We were hesitant at coming because we thought it was going to be overpriced, however for what you do pay for is very large portions and oh so good!! Worth making the trip.

Great food! Amazing flavors. I love their ambiance too. A very tiny restaurant, but they serve authentic cuisine and liquor as well from South America. I loved the sweet plantain that I ordered as a side dish. My salad was okay, with no flavor. But my husband and his friends ordered the lamb, which they said, was out of this world. I'm definitely coming back!

Do you want to eat a good chunk of meat? This is your spot ! $34 for three large piece of bees can't beat that ! Great steak dishes, seafood, and pasta in big portions, well prepared with a unique South American flavor that pull in some of the Italian influences of the region. This is my third visit and I've not been disappointed. The drinks are also very good and different. I've only tried the the flan for dessert and it was good. It's also a very nice sit down restaurant. The design of the place is beautiful. Date night or Easter Lunch with the family!

Went in last minute for our 6-year anniversary. Classy, romantic, and quiet - perfect for a date night. We ordered wontons for appetizers, which we gobbled up, and the fried bread they served with dipping sauces was inhaled. Unfortunately, for my partner and I, we got into a discussion that ruined the mood for the night, so by the time our entrees arrived, I lost my appetite. I did enjoy the taltrines saltados, but I just couldn't bring myself to finish it; I can't remember what his is called, but it looked appetizing as well having a spicy fettuccine noodles with steak medallions. In the end, our dinner was ruined by our own accord. The service was really good and I felt bad that we came across as having a terrible meal, so I hope this somehow gets to him so he'd know it wasn't his fault. We definitely turned down dessert so we could just get out of there and because the server knew it was our anniversary, he gave us a little gift box, which we just opened and found a cute little couple doll pin and a keychain from Peru. We would definitely go back and probably avoid having serious, mood-altering discussions the next time around to fully enjoy the experience.

Went for dinner and loved the atmosphere here, quaint smaller restaurant with great food! Huge menu with large pictures that help.you know what your ordereing. Love that since i dont know how to order south american food or what to order and there is text to know exactly whats in the food. I want to go back and try all their food. Only complaint I have is aervice was slow but that was because they were short a waiter. I will definitely be back.

The ambiance is quite nice and the service was pleasant as well. The food however is mediocre at best. The salad my sister got was clearly a jewel type mixed salad from a bag, my shrimp and scallop skewer had one scallop and 4 shrimp, and my "fillet" was stringy and chewy. My black beans and rice wasn't bad but it is unfortunate enough for that to have been the highlight of my meal. Could be a good place but the poor quality ingredients ruin the experience. Go if you have nothing better to do but don't expect to be impressed.

I have passed by the restaurant on a couple of occasions and finally decided to make reservations for my boyfriend's birthday. It was a monday evening so the place was not packed. We began with drinks (Mojitos are great!). Then we ordered the appetizer (see below). They started us out with some bread and it was delicious! Our appetizer was phenomenal as well. For the main course I decided to go with chicken while my boyfriend ordered steak. Everything tasted GREAT!!!! Appetizer: Bombones de Lomo Rellenos en Salsa Malbec Main Course 1: Pollo enrollado con arroz cchaufa Peruano Main Course 2: Tellarines Verde con Medallones Parillados Dessert: Xango We were very pleased with the service and got the chance to exchange a few words with the owner. Wonderful place! Highly recommended!

Romantic date night and excellent food. Wait staff is eager to please and the atmosphere is comfortable yet classy. It may be hard to find, but a wonderful suburban resturant that you would find in the city. Quickly my new favorite resturant! Take the wait staff recommendations.

My husband and I have been wanting to check this place out, since we live nearby. I read some of the reviews and was a bit put off since some of the comments weren't too positive. We decided to try it anyway and give Rios the benefit of the doubt, and I'm so glad we did! The staff were all friendly, and our waitress (who also happened to be the bartender, I think) answered our many questions and offered up suggestions from the menu. I ordered the Rios Ceviche, which was absolutely delicious. It was served with sweet potato and corn. My husband ordered the fried sole, which was probably one of the tastiest fish dishes I've ever had. I don't recall what type of sauce was on the fish, but it was just so flippin good! We weren't planning on having dessert, but our waitress convinced us we just had to try the churros. And wow! Definitely glad we ordered them. Lastly, the pricing was totally fair. All the entrees were basically in the $15-20 range. And you definitely get what you pay for. The portions were perfect. My husband and I will absolutely come back to Rios for another date night.

It was a date night for us so since we were going to the movies nearby, we searched out the restaurants in the area. We found Rio's and decided to give it a try! My husband and I were so pleased that we made the choice to go there! I love the fusion that they play on and the combination of South American cuisine. It is incredibly creative and delicious! The standard appetizer that that serve with the dipping sauces is divine! I love how they serve it in little strips that are fried. The chimichurri sauce was our favorite byfar! Our entrees were delightful! My husband had the pollo enrollado and loved it! I had the tuna steak (I can't find the name of it) and it was incredible! Not overcooked just perfectly cut up and just the right amount of pink inside. Ambiance: Modern, romantic. The Bar is upfront and pretty impressive. Romantic. I loved the touch of art decor, the table decoration, high ceilings and the hanging lights. Drinks: There was a decent wine selection, a handful of craft beers, creative drink concoctions and martinis (Rice Pudding Martini? First Time I have seen that). Service: Attentive! Our server was knowledgeable and could provide suggestions to me in regards to my order. He was also very efficient. I thought it was a nice tough that our water glasses were filled out of a nice glass water bottle. Overall, creative menu, delicious combinations and I can't wait to try more!

The service was horrible. It took 3 hours to serve a party that had appetizers, entrees and a dessert. There was a 20 minute swing from when the first person got their meal to the last person. The entree's were cold for almost everyone. The two servers were not in sync and messed up the bills. The lady server was very nice but it was just a big clusterf*&k. They do not have a childrens menu but offered kids nuggets and noodles. One of the kids did not get their entree until almost all the other kids were done eating. They automatically added a 20% gratuity even though the service was horrlble. The food was not bad the but we will not go back b/c of the experience. What a disappointment!

I have been looking forward to Rio's opening since I saw their sign first go up. After learning that they just opened, I was excited to try a new place. When you enter there is a prominent center bar and ample bar area seating. Located in the rear is the main dining area. We opted for a booth in the dining area. Ordered a few drinks (they have Revolution Anit-Hero IPA for you craft beer people) and an order of ceviche. The ceviche was traditional, and would have preferred the fish & shrimp cut into smaller, more manageable sizes. Ordered the entrees and they were out of one of the first choices, but still found something that sounded great. Food was great and had ample portions. There were a few stumbles along the night, but seeing as how they just opened, some kinks will still need to be worked out. So I won't hold those against them. But maybe lose the electronic ordering system. It seemed a little cumbersom. I look forward to visiting again.

First time here, probably last. Service slow, food over cooked, and manager said he would comp a glass of wine and didn't. Decide for yourself.

Really very solid food. Their flat bread appetizer was served with 3 condiments and all had very good flavor. The entrée included fried plantains which are often on people's menus but rarely done correctly. These were perfect and went very well with the glass of Malbec I had with dinner. My only complaint is the plating was done so that it was awkward to cut the skirt steak and avoid the tower of rice. It would have been better to reverse some things keeping in mind the need to cut the steak. Service was very good and I enjoyed my evening on the patio.

Beautiful restaurant and the food prices were really decent for the portion sizes. The alcohol menu was limited but they have a nice wine selection. I loved all the seafood options and there was plenty of parking. I'd recommend this place!

I was so excited when I saw this restaurant going in! Especially since I love their Chicago location. I almost didn't give this place a chance though since the first time I went in I was turned away due to lack of food and not having reservations. We were sat at the bar and then about 5 minutes later we were told they didn't have enough food so we were turned away along with another table. I was very upset by the way it was handled being a new restaurant you would think the manager would have handled this instead of the rude hostess. Then nothing was even offered to attempt to get us to come back. I would think they would have at the very least asked if we would like to make reservations to come another night. Since I've had so many great experiences at their other location I did attempt to go again. The food was amazing and I have to say their saving grace! Everything we had was full of flavor and great portion sizes! The restaurant is beautiful with a great bar with seating when you walk in. I didn't see much of the dinning room seems like you have to have reservations to sit there or know the hostess. If it weren't for the great food I would have scored them way lower. They really need to do some work on their service. Even the second time I went it was horrible. We couldn't sit in the dinning room even though there visibly was seating. Don't get my wrong the seating on the bar area is comfortable but feels very segregated from the dinning room. Our waiter was the bartender I believe and had no idea what any of the food was or how to pronounce it. Things I ordered I pronounced correctly and he had renamed the items into something completely different! If your going to work at a restaurant I think it's important you learn what the food is and how to pronounce it. There was wait stuff running around everywhere but no one seemed to know what they were doing and service was extremely slow. Hopefully they get the service kinks worked out because their food was amazing! Make sure to call ahead though and book reservations seems to be a must with this place!

I have not be able to make it back to Rio's, so I want to be fair. I am reviewing only the atmosphere and the food. The restaurant in Addison is beautiful. The big bar upfront is really nice, and the leather booths in the dining room are inviting. The food was delicious. I recommend Rio's

My husband and I had date night at Rios last night. It was our first time there, and now it is my favorite local restaurant. I had the hardest time choosing an entree because the entire menu looked irresistible. EVERYTHING was delectable. They started by bringing out strips of fried pita bread with three spreads. Yum. Then we shared ceviche wraps for a light appetizer. Delicious. Because of my personal issue with indecisiveness concerning the entree, instead I ordered the shrimp chowder, the mango/avocado/orange salad, and a side order of fried plantains. Everything was so good I was afraid of getting full before I could eat it all. The plantains were like butta. They also had a fun selection of South American beers. The best was a beer from Peru called Cuzquena. Our server Gabe was super nice, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The decor is very stylish without giving a feel of arrogance.

Great food, great service, great ambience. Their ceviches are so very tasty. The Brazilian burger is triumphant, amazing combination of savory American and plantain sweet Latin. The gaucho sandwich was equally delicious. The empanadas taste homemade. Great experience!

I had dinner here on a Tuesday evening. The service was dog slow and the food was mediocre. I ordered the empanadas as an appetizer and they were on the edge of burnt. Had they been less thoroughly baked, they would have probably been very good. For my main course I ordered one of the specials, and after about 30 minutes' wait, the waiter came out and told me they were out of several of the sides for the meal, and asked me if I would mind if they substituted. When it came, the main dish--a tuna dish that I'm guessing was ceviche-d, since it was cold, salty, and rubbery--was disappointing at best. The sauce had a burnt edge to it and everything was excessively salty. Altogether, dinner took in excess of two hours and cost me almost $50. Not worth it, considering the quality of the food. I'm just glad I can expense this to my employer.

Very good food. I've had lomo saltado al pisco and the gaucho steak sandwich the 2 times I've been there. Good service too. Some might be bothered because it is a little slow but I personally didn't mind because I hate being rushed while I go out to eat

Had dinner with a friend and had seafood for appetizers and both entrees. It was the worst seafood I have ever had anywhere. Would never go back there again. It was chewy and fishy, not fresh at all. My friend had visited the restaurant before and had beef that he enjoyed much more than we did seafood so maybe just ordered the wrong food....

I love the flavours in Latin-American cuisine so I was anxious to try out this restaurant. Although I live in nearby Schaumburg, we rarely venture to Addison for dining so I was pleasantly surprised to find the restaurant is located in a new, upscale strip mall. It was a bit cool the evening we dined, otherwise the patio area was ample and looked inviting - I did note heaters on one side of the patio. The front of the restaurant is an attractive bar area and the rear holds the main dining area. The ambience is elegant and latin music is set at the right level so it is not intrusive but complementary to the atmosphere. There have been some complaints about service in prior reviews but they seem to be addressing this issue in earnest. The service was excellent - our main server was very friendly and helpful with suggestions when we asked for them. Our table was bused efficiently throughout the meal. If anything, they were a bit too prompt with bringing our dinners out as we were not finished with the appetizer. My dining companion enjoyed a Caipirinha while I had a non-alcoholic Mojito made with Rio's lemonade (has fresh ginger) - I loved this drink! We were also brought out a gratis appetizer of puffy, fried strips of pita served with three dips - a chimichurri, a garlic butter and a habanero cream - all three were delicious. We shared a Rios Ceviche and asked for a combo of fish and shrimp. It was a very fresh-tasting ceviche made Tahitian-style with the addition of coconut milk - a bit more mango would have made it even better but would still rate it very high. For our meals we sampled the lamb shank and the Aji de Gallina (chicken in a creamy Peruvian sauce made with yellow peppers, walnuts and cheese) - both had complex and tasty sauces and were served with a buttery pyramid of rice. For dessert we tried the Lucuma Temptation - ice cream made with lucuma - mainly because we were curious about this fruit we had never heard of before. The flavor was fine but the consistency of the ice cream was a bit too icy. Altogether an excellent meal at reasonable prices - wonderful addition to suburbs. We are bringing the rest of the family this Saturday for a special occasion meal and look forward to it.

I came in with high hopes. Being that it is also a downtown establishment, I figured that the quality would be high. Was I Wrong. Service was understaffed for a dinner hour. Food was very generic tasting. Almost to the point where it may have been made downtown, bagged and reheated in Addison? Drinks are nothing special, food was sub par at best. Service was laughable at best. Pass on this place. I'll stick to my regular places of Tango Sur or Carnivale.

Avoid lunch here. The service is incredibly slow and the portions shrink down. We had an hour wait for our food and when they did bring out the soup for one patron, he finished it before getting the sandwich. The sandwiches were decent, but came with only ~20 average steak fries at most, which is a disappointment for a 10 dollar lunch. I also had the rio's lemonade which tasted much like a generic lemonade with some lime slices thrown in and chopped (not muddled as stated) pieces of garlic for fanciness. It was in no way special enough to put the house name on it.

When your looking for taste, im talking about taste Rios hits the spot, the flavors of the ceviche is out of this world. Everything at this restaurant is flavorful. The food here really engages your taste buds. Im so glad I went to eat at this spot.. Scrumpcious.

The space is very nice and the service was passable and that's where it ends. Went on Wednesday with my wife and another couple. Mojitos were nice but lacked any sign of alcohol. The ceviche was a failure. The empanadas were nice but for $8 there should be 4. The skirt stake lacked any flavor. My fish dish was only OK, and that was it. The ice cream dessert was like ice cream with severe freezer burn. It was more akin to ice chips with a flavored cream added. Lets say that ZA Za's near by has nothing to worry about. If this place wants to survive, they better put their game face on and serve something that makes people come back.

My first visit was a wonderful experience. Can't wait to go back! Service: our waiter seemed fairly new. He did know the menu, recommended a good wine, and was very attentive without being overbearing. Very friendly. Ambiance: very nice inside. Did notice that it took awhile to clear tables once people left (I don't think I would have noticed if I hadn't read other reviews before going). Most people were in casual cloths (nice jeans with a button up) but we didn't feel out of place in dress cloths. Food: Taste Incredible! Cooked perfectly, served in a timely manner, presented nicely. Everything we tried wowed us. Between our appetizers and main course we tried seafood, chicken and steak. All fantastic. I have a feeling every dish on their menu is great.

New restsurant in Addison, great atmosphere service not so much...... empty tables yet people turned away..... no busboy/girl .... had to ask for refills....I'm sure in a few months it will improve. Having traveled to Argentina & Brazil, cocktails not that great......yet. Food was good and good portion was served.

Ill start off with saying the place itself was very well put together! That's it! I had the pollo a la brasa and I'm sorry but the chicken nor fries where cooked all the way. Bread was stale! I wanted the steak with tallarines verdes and they didn't have it! It's a new restaurant and you don't have an item on your menu?? Very dissapointed! I only gave it two stars because its really close to me and the venue itself is really nice.

My 4th time here since they opened about a year ago. I live in the area and hoped they had improved since they first opened. The menu has changed several times and that's not a bad thing when you're trying to find your niche however Rio continues to disappoint..Went for dinner on a Tuesday night...so not a super busy time for a strip mall in Addison. Our waiter ( who I will not name out of respect for him because he was clearly not trained properly) had very limited knowledge of the menu. Just like my visits before the food took an extraordinarily long amount of time to arrive. Their new "picture menu" is hard to read in the dark dining room. The atmosphere and decor strive for elegance and the waiters/ waitresses are dressed in professional uniform attire. I was shocked to find that a guy dressed in a baseball cap and jeans with a pencil tucked behind one ear that ran from the bar to the kitchen several times was the owner! I thought he was a busboy. The food is good....but not worth the wait ..or the oblivious owner...or the untrained staff.

What an awesome restaurant. The wine list was very diverse, and the menu was very broad. My friend and I decided to sit at the bar. Even though it was across from the front door, the room was very warm for a cold evening. John was our bartender. He was very informative when it came to the menu. We both had a glass or two of wine. The pour was generous and the wine was different from the norm one may see on a wine list. We chose appetizers only for dinner. We had five plates and each one of them had their own flavor. The ceviche was spicy and full of flavor, the grilled octopus was cooked just rights. We had the plantains and they were also cooked perfectly. We are planning on returning as soon as we can and try a main entree. Two thumbs up to the atmosphere, the bartenders and the food and drink...Wooohooo!!!!

I was sooo excited! l love this type of food....BUT the service was awful. We waited about 20 minutes before the server even came to our table. Food came out, mine was okay, my dates, not so much. The manager came to our table at one point to ask how things were going, and my date told him that he was unhappy with the meal and that we had been there over an hour. The manager pulled up the time the orders were entered into the system, and said we hadn't been there an hour....this was because it took 20 minutes for the server to even get our drink order. Instead of comping my date's meal, the manager gave us a 20% off coupon for the next time we dined there....ummm there won't be a next time.

always great to see a places like this open up in the burbs especially in the bad food chain wasteland of Addison... really excellent South American food..seems like a mix of Peruvian, Brazilian, and Argentine cuisines I started with an appetizer called Papa a la Huancaina which is a cold potato dish with creamy pepper/cheese sauce topping which was really a nice starter. For my main dish I had Lomo Saltado al Pisco .. a traditional Peruvian dish that consists of ,steak strips, sautéed tomatoes, onions, and potatoes, all flambéed with Pisco (a Peruvian liquor) which was excellent Our server Chris was very friendly and knowledgable about the different menu items and also turned me on to an outstanding spicy spread called Aji ..not sure of what went into it (peruvian peppers and other ingredients unknown) but its addicting if you like a little heat. It resembled wasabi but wasnt as hot and had a better taste. I ate it spread on the generous helpings of bread he brought to our table throughout dinner. Flan for dessert was pretty much standard flan. I will definitely be going back and hope this place starts a trend of better ethnic type place in the burbs so i dont have to deal with driving to the city

Went here with a large group of coworkers (15) after a company event. The portion sizes are GIGANTIC. The food was delicious we had the appetizer sampler (loved the tamale), chicken skewers (perfection). I ordered a gigantic plate of rice, chicken with a fried egg on top - if you put egg on top of anything it rocks. The lasagna was delish. For desert they ordered a gooey cake thing w/ ice cream...need I say more. Menu has a lot of pictures so you can see what you're ordering. Service was great for our large group, we had 2 waiters who took care of everything and were very nice/patient. They answered questions about the food and made recommendations. They have pretty cool drinks on their drink menu and if you CHECK IN you get a free drink/shot. $15-30/pp. You can easily split an entree. Decor/ambiance was very nice, I really enjoyed the bar/dining fancy casual thing they set up. Also they have a display of llamas - just a heads up. This place was great and I would recommend.

Thursday, date night with my wife, great time. Rio's had a good vibe, good music, nice ambiance, clean, delicious food ... 5:50pm, 1 other couple. We had chicken skewers anticuchos, Peruvian lasagna (it had spinach, not what I expected based on description) seafood PARRILLADA DE MARISCOS, all good food except the lasagna. Service was ok, didn't have wine initially offered. It was a good experience, I'll just try a different entree next time.

Just spent 3 hours here on a Wednesday where our server was also bar tending which removed him from servicing our table. Not s good idea! Management needs to rethink how to best utilize the service staff. Food was very good though but killed it with the service. IM STILL SITTING HERE! Help!

First and foremost... The Food Is Exceptional. The Peruvian Tamale was one the best dishes of its kind I have ever had. I mean wow. The Ceviche was excellent too Even the bread you're given with accompanying dipping sauces, is phenomenal. However, the best thing of the night was the Argentinian Chorizo Steak. It was seasoned and perfectly cooked and worth every dollar ($31). The ambiance was great and the service was too. There is a good selection of South American bottled Beers which piqued my interest. I had every one and the one from Argentina called Quilmes was my favorite. There is only one small thing that occurred which shaved a star. When my GF's dish arrived it had a small lobster tail on top which wasn't in the menu's picture (nice menus BTW). We thought "score" however, that tail bumped the price of that dish $10. It isn't a huge deal but we didn't okay this and would of most likely not have. Plus that $10 tail was extremely salty (and I love salt). However, don't let this one oversight deter you. This is an excellent dining experience and I will be back!!! If on a budget, just run in there, get a Peruvian Tamale (they're big) and run out. I mean it really was that good.

I thought the food at Rios was decent, our service was decent. Nothing stood out. My glass of sangria was meh. There tallarines verde con bife (fettuccine mixed in a Peruvian pesto sauce served with strip steak) was decent. The meat was cooked nicely, however, the pesto sauce was a bit salty for me. You definitely can't go wrong with fried yuca so we enjoyed that and my friend got the chicken skewers that she liked. Overall, an A-OK meal.

My husband and I went here last night for the first time and we both agreed that we will be going back to try everything on their menu. We made a reservation, which on a weekend night seems necessary. We both had a drink at their very beautiful full bar. The Resterant is very elegant looking and clean with a beautiful mural of Brazil in the wall. The service was excellent, our waiter Tony was very helpful in suggesting things we try. The menu is wonderful with pictures of every dish, which I loved. I thought the prices were reasonable, we had apps, drinks, after dinner drinks and a dessert and our bill was around $100. We can't wait to go back, and we'll be telling everyone we know to check this place out!

Great meal. The menu is filled with pictures which compelled us to over indulge. We learned the portions are generous so we brought a good bit home. As a light weight, I appreciated the Pisco sour but suspect but my "thirsty" dining companion did too. I also tried a specialty cocktail and it was good as well. All other aspects of the dining experience were great as well. Loved the decor, especially the Llamas. One could not ask for better service. It was spectacular. Our waiter was more personable, attentive and enthusiastic server than one could ever imagine. I will definitely return and know if you check it out you will be pleased.

I'm a little bit in love with Rios. Everything all around was great. We went on a Thursday night - it was not busy, and although we made a reservation we really didn't need one. I love the atmosphere - modern, relaxing, and quiet. I ordered a Pisco Sour (you get one for 1/2 off with a check-in on Yelp). It was so good! My friends enjoyed their martinis as well. The menu is extensive and has some very different items. Everything has pictures, which I love. Our waiter was really nice and attentive throughout the whole service. He went through the menu and explained everything to us. It was so hard to choose what we wanted. We ended up ordering a few different items. I ordered the ceviche de los 3 ajís. So good! The pita bread with 2 dips that you get at the beginning of the meal is super addictive too. Everyone enjoyed what they had. I thought the pricing was pretty comparable to other places. Overall, really great. I would definitely come back again! In fact, we already made plans to come back!

We went for lunch and the experience was great! It is refreshing to find authentic Argentinian food! Kudos to the chef!!! The bread basket was served with delicious chimichurri. It's been a long time since I had such a terrific one. The beef empanadas and milanesa were amazing. Drinks were great.

Love the outdoor patio perfect for date night or just hanging out with friends. The drink menu had some delish options I went with the peach mango martini. We had an appetizer that was some sort of corn husk with chicken in it I absolutely loved it. Our main course was steak and a spicy fettuccine, and a spicy lasagna with steak as well. The preparation was amazing the menu was also bright and vibrant so you can see the dishes exactly how they are prepared. The service was great our waiter was very attentive and did not take too long to take our orders and bring us our food. We had a couple drinks and ate an amazing dinner and we made it just in time for our movie. I'm so glad that we tried this place out Although it is tucked away in the strip mall next. To the panera it's definitely worth a try

Rio's is hands down the best restaurant in Addison. I've been there a good number of times since they've opened with friends and family, the food and service is always amazing! The lunch specials are really reasonably priced especially considering how big the portions are, definitely beats going anywhere else! The El Guacho skirt steak sandwich is my personal favorite. It comes topped with cheese and avocado, so delicious! If you stop by for dinner you absolutely have to get the Bon Bones, Tamales and the Anticuchos for starters, and the Parrillada Casera steak as an entree. Plus the mojitos are a personal favorite from the bar. All around you can't go wrong with Rio's Addison! They're the best!

Super good Peruvian food, it doesn't matter what you order! I love the seco de cordero and the lomo saltado. I alway have the papa a la huancayna and the ceviche

We went there for Valentine's. They only served fix prix meal then. The meal was yummy. Ceviche was good. The entree was a surf & turf. The menu called it stir fried beef with seafood including lobster. I doubted it myself having a stir fried rice beed at a latino restaurant. However, it was very delicious. We would come back again anyway. The dessert was chocolate cheesecake with chocolate ice-cream which was again very yummy, rich & creamy. The meal was also very reasonable $70-80/ per couple excluding tips. We misunderstood their menu at the beginning and ready to drop $80 per person, $160 for the meal. The meal was definitely tasty and reasonable!

Good service and extensive menu. Great variety of options. Pricing is probably slightly higher than it should be, but I don't live in Chicago, so it may be on target. Had beef heart app and lamb shank. Solid performance and restaurant seems to be managed well. Support these guys and enjoy!

I live in the area and have been wanting to try this place for some time since the menu looked phenomenal. We had a couple of appetizers including a tamale, which was awesome and a ceviche dish that was OK. My wife had a skirt steak that was very good and the salad was excellent with an interesting mix and greens and a light dressing. I had a tenderloin and shrimp stir fry dish that had really great flavor but the steak was overcooked for my taste and the shrimp were undercooked, one was inedible. Their normal bottle of wines seemed overpriced in my opinion for what they were, but we did order a really good bottle of Malbec that was on special and more reasonable. The waiter was seemed very inexperienced, but I'm fairly certain that he was just new to the job. Would definetly recommend and will go back to try some other of their wonderful dishes.

The food was mediocre as well as the customer service. However, ambiance and location were good and worth recommending specifically because we had a group on and it is close the movie theater.

I was skeptical upon looking at the menu online and not having much familiarity with South American food, I had my fingers crossed. Once I walked in, however, I knew I was in the right place. The ambiance was amazing! Very classy and upscale but still casual enough that I felt comfortable in Uggs. We started with the steak filled wontons with tamarind sauce. The have somehow excellently merged South American and Asian cuisine and this dish was an ode to that. For dinner I had the aji de gallina (chicken in a Peruvian sauce). It was amazing and made me regret filling up on wontons. The black beans I ordered alongside my dish were excellent and very flavorful. The chicken was tender and the sauce was creamy, but not too rich; very complex flavors that did not rely on salt or cheese. I added some plantanos to my dish and I was in HEAVEN. My husband tried a fusion dish-- the Rios Special Chaufa Saltado. It is a rice dish with steak and shrimp. He isn't a very adventurous eater but he cleaned the plate! The proteins were excellently cooked and the flavors were savory and slightly sweet. Healthy portions, excellent food, friendly staff, and a very classy ambiance made for a pleased diner!! Thanks Rios!

This is the kind of place I REALLY want to like. I've given it a fair trial. I've been here four times at decent intervals apart, in different seasons, with different sized parties, for different meals, most recently today for lunch. :-/ It just ain't happening. It looks great. The patio is nice. The food is okay...but it just doesn't reach the level of flavor and service that makes me a regular. Memorable bits... first visit was soon after they opened. We laughed that the waiter had to be someone's nephew brought into service in a pinch because he was a disaster. No matter... Brought a foodie on another visit and I recall him not being pleased to have an unhappy substitution made on a menu item. I'm remembering the service always being a bit of a challenge. Food unmemorable. Today for lunch we sat outside. Lunchtime on a gorgeous day and the vacant tables on the patio weren't ready. One was a mess and the other wasn't set up. Our server came and I asked for a glass of red with a preferred flavor. She couldn't make any suggestions. The manager was brought in to help but I didn't get the impression he knew any better. To him more expensive was better wine. Uh...not always. We ordered a skirt steak, medium rare. While decently sized, it was very thin and therefore more like medium to medium well. Wasn't very tender either. Overall the meal was good but nothing to get excited about. One quibble... They had a large drink special board facing the patio promoting their $5 mojito. Yea! One was ordered. Only problem? The sign said, "Wednesday Drink Special"....and it was Thursday. After a holiday weekend when I'd been out of town for two days it never occurred to me that I was off a day or that they would advertise a drink special to the room a full week off. They didn't honor the price. Our mistake but it angered my dining partner and I thought it was a silly stand to take over $3.

This place was great back in the day.. When it was still Rinconcito Sudamericano. The food use to be amazing!.. and the portions were huge!. The service was never great but the food sure made up for it. I've been coming to now Rio's since i was a kid, I'm 30. I was very disappointed the last couple times I've been here, the food was mediocre, they lost that Peruvian seasoning that kept me coming back. Food is now bland, not to mention they took away one of my favorites off the menu the Tallarines verdes con bistec apanado. So disappointed :( .. Instead they have ravioli! If i wanted Italian i would go to an italian restaurant!. Luckily we found a great replacement.. In the north side of Chicago.

I was so excited to go here and researched ahead of time to make sure I got the best experience. Their menu looked so amazing and the reviews of the fried bread had me very excited. I could hardly narrow down my options to only 1 main course. My family was coming in from out of town and wanted a new and different experience, so I figured Peruvian/Brazillian food would definitely meet that criteria. I saw the new discounted appetizer menu on their website. They were only available until 7pm so I made reservations for 6:30 to ensure I got my butt there in time. My table of 4 was promptly seated in the tiny dining area. I asked the hostess if we would be able to take advantage of the discounted appetizers or if we needed to sit and have a drink at the bar for that portion. She had me wait while she checked (suprised by the lack of autonomy given to the hostess). She came back and said we were only able to get those appetizers (which are not even on the menu at regular price) if we sat in the bar area. Naturally, I obliged since I already had my heart set on two of them. She mentioned this information came from the manager. We were moved a whole 10 feet (place is tiny) to a less comfortable bar table. What a turnoff that they would make an issue of this. I loved the shrimp claws, but the tamales were just okay. I ordered the classic peruvian non-alcoholic beverage, chicha morada, which was very sweet and yummy. The main course was good. I split the Moqueca de Pescado & Aji de Gallina with my husband. Honestly, I was slightly disappointed with the meal as I expected more flavor and seasoning. While not bland, it certainly wasn't as seasoned as expected. It tasted like they had held back to accomodate traditional American tastebuds. We got the churros for dessert. They weren't filled with caramel like the menu lead me to believe. They were okay, but not as good as Mexican churros I'm used to. I wouldn't recommend them unless you've just never had a churro at all. As with previous reviewers, they were once again out of their traditiona Lucumal ice cream. They may as well take it off the menu if they are never going to have it. Also, they had a new desert menu released for May and advertised on their Facebook page-none of those items were available. It wasn't until the next day when I realized the thing that now upsets me the most. THEY NEVER GAVE US THE FRIED BREAD! The appetizer that everyone gets and I was so excited about was never given to us. I can't beleive it! I wonder if it was because we sat at the bar to get the special appetizers. Wow! If I knew I would have to pick...obviously I would have gone for the bread. What a bummer! In Summary: Rio's, you get 2 stars because of horrible customer service overall and food that, while not bad, just doesn't meet expectations. You should not have a menu of special appetizers that are only available in the bar, but rather, offer those same items for full price on your regular menu. You create a difficult situation for a patron to try those items otherwise. Don't release a dessert menu publicly until it is actually available. And, most importantly, relax on your strict policies. I wanted your establishment to become a regular in my rotation of ethnic cousines, but instead I have decided to never come back.

We visited this restaurant for the first time on a Saturday night. We were seated at one of the booths in the back and had a great view of the entire restaurant. The first thing we enjoyed was the bread with dipping sauce appetizer. The bread is delicious and the sauces are quite tasty too. The papa rellena appetizer was really good. The mashed potatoes were very light as was the breading. My husband ordered the brochetas rio de janeiro and I ordered the arroz con mariscos and both dishes were outstanding! We finished our meal with the xango dessert. Wow!! The service that we received was superb from our waiter to the manager who checked on us to the very friendly busboy who refilled our water. All in all, we had a wonderful visit and will be happy to return to try more Peruvian/Argentinian/Brazilian food. They have a nice looking outdoor area in the front of the restaurant and we can't wait to try that in a warmer month.

I've driven past this place quite a few times and finally have been in - twice actually in a short period of time! The venue is very nice, both times it seemed a bit quite/slow but it was on a week night. The food is great! The menu was easy to navigate, with pictures to make it easier to see what your options are. Our server was very helpful and personable as well. The first time I went I had the Aji de Gallina. This was SOOOO good! Our server suggested ordering it a bit more spicy and was super delicious. The second time I had the Lomo Saltado al Pisco. This was also very good, but I enjoyed the first dish I tried. Needless to say, I will be going back (as I already have) and have already told others about this gem. Check it out.

Food was good but so expensive. We went on Valentine's day and there were only 2 options to pick. $85 per couple. Waiters are reeeealllyy slow. Got there at 10pm and left at 12am. Waiter never came back to give our check. Hardly came to stop by. Still gave a good tip though. Dont come on a busy day

This was a great find that I drove by many times before I decided to stop in. It offers a great alternative to the typical restaurants in the neighborhood. The menu has influences from several South American regions. Some dishes have a Cuban flare. Your tab will be a little higher than average but the fresh and different dishes and flavors we'll make up for it. My only negative comment would be that the kitchen tends to get overwhelmed with even the slightest hint of a crowd. Expect to wait a little while for meals when it's busy. I would recommend this restaurant when you're in the mood for something different, slightly upscale, and stylish. It's a great date night location...

First let me start by saying the restaurant itself is gorgeous inside. Nice dim lighting perfect for a date or just a night out for the Best latin food ever! Went here with my friend for her birthday and ordered the swordfish! It was cooked so well. Excellent service and awesome drinks! I plan on being a regular. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for great service, great drinks and even better food! Yum!

Really solid restaurant here. Ceviche Rio was delicious. I ordered the skirt steak with chimichurri on the side. My wife ordered the skewers which were outstanding. All in all $75 for two entrees and 3 drinks. I will definitely come back.

So I have been there maybe 3 or 4 times, and every time I have been there I was pretty much blown away. Their service was great, they even gave me a free gift when I went on my birthday. To start out, the bread and butter: absolute perfection!! I could make a meal out of that bread, butter, and whatever other dipping sauce they served with it. Their steak is always cooked to perfection and their flavors are fantastic. The only thing keeping me from giving this 5 stars is that I went for lunch once and was a little underwhelmed. Everything was delicious, but the rice was a little under-cooked and the shrimp was just a little too cold. But the flavor was still perfect. And my sister got a burger and loved it as well!

After my second time coming to this restaurant I felt it was worthy of a review. My experience both times here was great. Quickly seated, clean, cozy, and the food was great. The food is authentic and the servers never have a problem explaining the menu, as some items are new to me (Peruvian and Brazilian items lol) will definitely come back again

I've been here a few times and its been good, however tonight I was blown away. First of all our bartender Chris was the best. He explained the menu thoroughly. He made great recommendations. Everything we had was delish and made to order. If your looking for something that is different please try Rios. You will not be disappointed.

This was an excellent experience all around! We were treating my Mom to dinner and wanted to go slightly classy. First, the ambience is truly superb. The room is beautiful and I loved the South American music they were playing. It definitely had a Sergio Mendez/ Lani Hall vibe. It really set the mood nicely. Our food was excellent across the board. I started with the Cerviche Nikkei and had it with the bits of flounder. This was very nicely done with a small roasted potato on the side and this delicious Peruvian corn. My Mom and I ordered the same paella entrée that was filled with shrimp, octopus and scallops. The rice and seasonings were perfect. I can't recall enjoying a paella as much as I did that I had at Rio's. My wife ordered the South American / pan-Asian noodle dish and she loved it as well. I tasted it and it had a succinctly different flavor profile that our paella dish. I read the criticism from another reviewer regarding the lack of fresh ingredients. Although we did not order a salad, all of the ingredients in our dishes were very flavorful and fresh. Finally, our server Christopher was great! Engaging and attentive, he took care of all of our needs. I have no hesitation in giving Rio's 5-stars!

I actually saw this place while sitting in a Mexican restaurant across the street! We never had south American food before and this was great. They served us a fried bread cut into strips with 3 condiments a peppered compound butter a spicy puree and a paisley cilantro compote. My wife had a shrimp and rice dish with plantains and black beans. Only thing she didn't care for were were black beans. She loved everything else. I had the Lamb shank with rice and pinto beans. The shank fell off the bone. No knife needed! It had a nice sauce that was a cilantro base to it that I really enjoyed. The pinto beans were awesome. Never had this style of beans before. Great alternative to Mexican refried. Couple issues it was freezing in the place they had the lights down so low it was hard to read the menu. The menu is like a photo album and the print blends into the photos. Would have done 4 stars if that was better. We will be going back! The food was very good. It was great to have something different that still had south of the border flavors.
