The mixed breakfast burrito (usually under $4.00) should be placed in the Smithsonian Institution--it is a national treasure and a local legend. It's loaded with so much bacon, ham, eggs, cheese, and potatoes, it will hold you all day. The carne asada burrito is very good for lunch. Their shrimp burrito is so loaded with shrimp, I don't know how they sell it for under $5.00. Nothing hits the spot more quickly than 3 rolled tacos and guacamole. It may look a little "divey," but if you're hungry for huge, delicious burritos, you should give it a try. They are open late, so it's great for the late night munchies.

In California it's Alberto's, In Arizona it's Filiberto's, In Utah it's Beto's, and in Rexburg it's Ramirez. Nice little knock off from a chain of Mexican hot spots right in the middle of the 'Burg. Food can be inconsistent depending on the current cook, but can be decent. Not 24 hours like most place's but its Rexburg. it's been running for years so it's definitely getting business if thats saying much. I'll stop here once in a while when Im in town to harass Jesse the owner's wife. haha. They also need to be reported for Child Labor issues 'cause I've had little kids take my order in the drive thru! WTF! LoL

    Fast service mediocre taste

My husband and I frequent this place. The food is good, legitimately close to true Mexican food (slightly altered to appeal to the white American's tastes) and fairly well-priced. We recommend the carne asada fries or burrito. We don't recommend the breakfast burritos or the shredded beef burrito as it's extremely liquidy. Portions are huge, they have several salsas and pickled jalepeno/carrot, and a drive-thru.

Cheap and really greasy. The breakfast burritos are awesome, but the rest is decent at best. You get what you pay for here. Portions can tend to be small as well.

So I don't know what real Mexican food tastes like but I know that they barely understand my English, so it must be legit Mexican food. Its seriously TASTY stuff. The only problem I really run into is ordering too much!

I haven't been there in over 6 years and I still crave their texano burrito. I have never had a burrito top this baby. If I had the money while going to school, I would have eaten at Ramirez EVERY day. Their horchata is so refreshing, put a large one with the burrito and BAM, you've got happiness. Seriously, if I had my own plane, Ramirez Mexican Food in Rexburg Idaho would be my first destination. Call me crazy, that's okay, I'll just figure that you haven't tried their texano burrito.

Nachos are great. Everything seems to be priced well for a small college town. Open times are great for people who like to go out late

I'm from San Diego and eat a lot at mexican 'burrito' places and this place is pretty much the same. All the food is good, it is made by Mexicans so they have it down. I am Mexican, and eat it every day at home, so while at school in Idaho I had a craving and went here and it didn't disappoint. It's as close are your going to get to real MEXICAN food from MEXICO in Rexburg, with the exception of the taco bus.

This is the real deal mexican. They have some concessions for American palletes (hard shell tacos) but the rest of the menu is authentic from what I know of real Mexican. The meat inside the tacos (carnitas and adoboda) could have been better but the Argentine inspired tort was good. I'm picky about my Mexican food and this wasn't as good as I've ever had but for this town it probably is...

The burrito we ordered was made with canned tomatoes which weren't drained. The burrito literally had half a cup of juice in it by the time we drained it out, and showing it to the girl at the counter she still refused to give new food. It was so soggy and inedible. Definitely won't be coming back.

Terrible customer service. When we used our coupons the owner filled more than half our carne asada burritos with potatoes and gave us $4 change in quarters.

I've heard great things about their breakfast burritos. I myself had just the 2 bean burrito for $2 special and it was ok. Tacos are pretty good. The place is definitely more authentic and I'd take it ANY DAY over taco time/costa vida/taco bell garbage.

I love Mexican food, but this is not the place to go. The storefront looks it appear very authentic, but the food is gross. The ingredients are very poor quality. For example, I go to order carne burritos or chimichangas and it has very, very little beef and instead had a ton of peppers/onions. It's like, Dude! I Ordered a Beef burrito not an Onion burrito!! Pricey for what you get. Go to One of the Taco Buses if you want Very good, High quality authentic, good priced Mexican food.

Stay away from this shiz hole. The carne asada was shredded low quality beef. Go to any other Mexican place in Rexburg and you get grilled steak not crock pot beef. Customer service was terrible when I politely asked for a refund as she gave me attitude about it. My refund was only for 50% since I got the buy one get one half off with my friend. In other words I paid $1.50 for a bite of crap.

Food is not that great. It all seems cheaply done and not authentic. It wasn't very tasty and the guacamole was kind of half frozen in my burrito. They are very affordable and it is clean in my opinion. But I wouldn't eat here anytime soon. Better options but agree that it is a low cost and close to a lot of people that are college students.

I served a Spanish speaking Mission, and upon returning, I was looking for some authentic Mexican food. This definitely isn't the place to get it. You'd be much more satisfied going to "Tacos Tepitos" (the taco bus behind Dairy Queen). The food is low quality, and not very appetizing. The only good thing about this place is that they're open so late. That gives you one more thing to choose from, besides McDonalds.

If you want traditional Mexican food fast, this is the place to go. Carne asada w/ fries burrito is my favorite. The enchiladas can be greasy, but it's all good food. Pricing is not too bad.

The mixed egg burrito will change your life, for 3 bucks! It's big, too. It is a slightly divey place, but in a good way.

I have been coming here for years and this has been a culinary staple in my life. Thank you Juan and thank you everyone at Ramirez!

POSITIVES: the portions are decent, but it depends on what you get. (I spent $5 and got a soft taco with an order of cripsy burritos, a churro, and side of pico de gallo). Their salsas are tasty (esp their green jalapeno one). They are open late, which is very convenient in this town. NEGATIVES: like others have mentioned, its super rundown, walls are all chipped, and they don't care much for sanitation. Also the crispy burritos barely had any beans in them. They were big, but it was like a large, deep fried, rolled up tortilla, with a teaspoon of bean inside. PRICE:$3-8 Although you could find something worth trying here, I would recommend going to the local taco buses (costs about the same, but for better tasting authentic mexican).

It's an OK place if you are too lazy to find the Taco Bus. Their California burritos are edible and maybe even enjoyable. I wouldn't eat there unless the Taco Bus was closed

One of my favorite stops in Rexburg, the food is ok, but better than a lot of other food in Rexburg and the prices are good. In California, good mexican food isn't hard to find, but in Rexburg, this was it.

This place is so close to good Mexican food. I would suggest less water in the food and a little fresher on everything. The atmosphere I really like, it reminds me of the California Mexican restaurants. By the way, there was a young kid working there several months ago. He was so very polite and amusing we had to give him a tip. If you see him give him a tip, his reaction is priceless. Well worth it.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
