A simple, inexpensive but good Thai/Japanese restaurant; what it lacks in fancy decor and atmosphere it makes up for in bang for the buck. Will eat here again. For the lunch price, easily 5 stars. Sushi rolls are a little expensive. I had the lunch combo with chicken pad Thai and salmon/cucumber sushi. Not sure how they can make a profit on this option. The Thai iced tea, priced normally at $3, uncommonly includes a refill as do most of their non-alcoholic drinks. The chicken pad Thai is far too sweet for my tastes, but not at all bad. Sushi and sashimi --the low cost stuff included with lunch, are average in general but good for the price.

My review from the past didn't even make sense. What was I thinking. Anyways, they're getting too pricey and food isn't all that great anymore. They should really work on the outside of their restaurant like they do with the inside.

Coming from Cali and moving here you are not sure if the oriental food would compare to what you are use too ! I took a chance and could not be more please . Great service

The sushi bar is what we came for and now what we will continue to come for. Absolutely delicious and pretty decent prices on some of it. The staff were nice enough, and friendly. We really liked the decor, as well. Everything was great. Not only do they have a fabulous sushi bar, but also a very extensive Thai menu as well! We will be recommending this place to all of our friends and we will be back again and again!

We went to have dinner there because we didn't want to go to Meridian to Saw-wa-dee and we ordered 2 meals and one appetizer and 2 thai teas...it was weird that I was charged $47 bucks just for that...the food is not the greatest, but we went there because is closer to where we live which is Nampa...that was back in April. We went there again and this time I ordered my meal not spicy and the girl didn't pay attention to that, so long story short I was eating everything but the noodles and when I took a bite it was so hot as hell and I told her I ordered that not spicy and since I already ate everything but the noodles I still had to pay for it...needless to say I won't ever go back there. I gave them a second chance and they blew it...They don't look like they get a lot business there and I won't be surprise when they go out of business. SAW-WA-DEE IS WAY BETTER THAN THEM!

My wife and I ate here again today. We ordered the spicy noodles, Pad Se Ew, crab Rangoon, a BSU sushi roll, and a white dragon roll. Everything was great, except the sushi. It is obviously pre-made and not the most fresh. My wife ended up being a bit ill after eating some of it and even with my iron gut, something still tasted funny and unpleasant. This was brought to the managers attention and we were told after she had tasted it herself that she even thought it tasted wrong and was not fresh. They removed the one roll from our bill, but not the other. Frankly, as far as sushi goes, I will probably never get the sushi here again and will stick to the Thai food. I also got the feeling that the people in this place knew beforehand just how unfresh their sushi was, but choose to serve it anyways. That's not okay in my book. Anyways, come here for the Thai. Skip the sushi! Buyer beware!

I was a bit skeptical before coming here based on the reviews. Coming to nampa from seattle once a month for work, and decided to find a decent Thai place. Upon arriving, I was surprised to see they had a full menu for sushi. I tried the garrity roll and spicy noodles with beef. Garrity sushi roll $7.95: a little too crunchy with the fried outside layer. Shrimp didn't have much meat 2.5/5 Spicy noodles with beef $10.95 had a ton of meat. Not as much noodle but lots of fresh crunch vegetables. Great flavor 5/5 *note: they offer up to 10 stars which is not the same as 5 stars at a typical Thai place. It's more like 7-8 stars at a typical Thai places. Service was great, they were attentive and welcoming 5/5 Definitely will come back next time, probably skip the sushi (it's nampa anyways) Don't always follow other people's reviews, find out for yourself, I'm glad I did

In my opinion this is the best Thai place in all of Boise/Meridian/Nampa area! The location is in a strange spot but you won't be disappointed by their food! The Thai salad with crispy tofu, mangos and peanut sauce is my favorite! Their curry is also to die for! Awesome friendly staff! If you're in the area GO!

This was our second trip to the restaurant and I was disappointed while the majority of the food is excellent don't eat the sushi! We ordered two different rolls which were extremely over priced for what I think would have amounted to gas station sushi! Both were gross and inedible to the point we complained and even the manager said she tasted the salmon and thought it was bad! They did take the rolls off our bill and were extremely courteous and apologetic! Service is excellent, prices are good, the Thai food is wonderful, but the sushi is terrible so do yourself a favor and pass on the sushi! I still give it four stars for the majority of the food and excellent service!

We are so excited to have found a great sushi place nearby. We ordered and devoured the white dragon. Nice staff, clean place, awesome food.

This was our favorite Thai spot until J.P.s Thai opened up. It's been on the slide for a while. Both the service and food have dwindled in quality. Sad but true.

I have only had sushi at Krung Thai. I had the BSU roll and ordered it to-go. The waitress was kind and my food was ready when I got there, although my roll wasn't very good. The BSU roll has three different sauces on top and they drenched the roll in the sauces so it made everything else pretty soggy. I will probably return, but try a different roll or entree. Prices are a bit high as well.

Great place to grab a quick lunch but not top of the list for dinner. The lunch specials are very affordable and very filling. I pick it up for lunch at the office on a regular basis.
(3)J W.
Great food. Especially liked their spicy stir fry and pad se ew. A little over priced for what you get, but the lunch specials are a good deal. And, yay sake!

Looks questionable upon arrival, but they are both great in cuisine and hospitality. We will be back every time we are in the area.

Best Thai that I've had since Vegas!! Very good food and reasonable prices! Would recommend highly for Thai food lovers. Only ate there once, will be back. Um service could be better, however food was worth it!
(5)Mark B.
Was really dissapointed with this place, poor service, cold food. Friends and I went based on other reviews. We will not return.

Stopped by for lunch because I had time to kill while waiting for my car to be serviced. I had the pad woonsen which is my favorite Thai dish. It was really flavorful and I asked for a 7 on the spicy scale of 1-10. I like my food spicy and am always careful when I try a new place because sometimes the hot factor is overdone vs flavor. I would say this 7 was right on based on what I would expect. It was a little heavy w chili flakes as the main heat component which texturally was a bit more than I like. I would definitely would recommend as a "go" and plan to go back.

Great restaurant. Panang curry was delicious and Sushi was fresh. We will definitely be coming again.
(5)Anthony M.
Yellow curry with chicken... so good. I really like this place. They have good food and service. Location isn't the best.
(4)Jillian H.
I go out of my way to eat here. As far as I can tell, it's the cheapest Thai restaurant in the valley and the food is consistent and good. I've tried most of the curry options and love them all. The peanut dressing that comes with the lunch specials is delicious. I'd recommend going on weekday afternoons for the lunch specials which include an entree, egg roll, and soup/salad for under $8. Sure, the atmosphere is a little confused but considering the price, it's fine with me.
(5)Deborah B.
It's a good sign when all in my group argued that each had the best dish! Pad Thai, Garlic Delight and Cashew (#41 but with peanut sauce substituted for chili sauce) all were great. California sushi roll okay. We will be back next time we are in Idaho.

I would rather go to Krung Thai than many other places in Boise. Is it the best Thai food I've ever had? No. But I've eaten at more expensive places and had worse. The pad thai is okay for a quick fix. Their sushi, it seems, is hit or miss. I've never had a problem with it but I could see how some people think that theirs was not fresh. This place always seems deserted when I am there, so I'm not sure how much food they actually move in order to keep the sushi bar fresh. However, I've had crab rangoon, pad thai, spring/summer rolls, a salmon skin/cucumber roll, a dragon roll, their soup and salad, and a handful of other dishes and I am never too disappointed. I'm not picky about decor (it IS on Garrity, after all), and it is nice that actual Thai people cook the food. It's not over-Americanized but there is a range of different foods that you can order, which is not a bad thing. I usually order to go, so I can't say anything for the service, but I do know that while you wait for your to-go order they are attentive enough to give you something to drink while you wait and the people are always nice. I hope it gets busier and continues to grow in quality and customer service. Give it a try!

Wow! This place is a diamond in the rough with explosive flavor and no frills ambiance.
(4)Carol M.
Based on the fact that most Asian food in Nampa has been Americanized to no character...I was shocked to find an Asian venue that had clean, fresh, straightforward food. The garlic sauce actually had real garlic and it was prepared so it garlic was the forward flavor. I will return. It is clean, bright, and friendly. Good food with fresh ingredients.

Best Thai place in Nampa.

Pretty good actually. Not so much on the atmosphere but yes on the food.

The more things change, the more things stay the same. My life has changed significantly in the last three months - I've moved across the country, started a new job, bought a house. Yet, I'm STILL driving 20 miles, past a dozen other Thai restaurants, to get to the only Thai restaurant in the area worth my time. And, Yelpers are STILL under-rating that Thai restaurant, totally oblivious to the gem they have in their back pockets. [...Really, folks, a 3-star average for Krung, while the lifeless curries from Pad Thai House frolic in 4.5-star glory and the halfhearted flavors at Thai Cuisine earn 4?] Sure, the existence of a sushi bar within Krung Thai is puzzling and unnecessary. But buzz past the sushi for Krung Thai's distinctively Southern Thai dishes, calling to their Malaysian roots. Dishes like these would be a pleasant surprise even in a large metro - so finding Krung Thai in the farm town of Nampa felt like opening a bag of Skittles® that didn't have any purples. There are three reasons Krung earns my seal of approval: 1) Their homemade Thai roti is, well, perfect. Stretchy, yet tender, like a deflated exercise ball, but at the same time flaky and chewy. Served with a rich yellow curry and sweet cucumber pickle. This dish is not to be missed. 2) Kway teow (spelled "gwoi teaw" at Krung), both a dry noodle version and a brothier duck version, are on offer. Yes, the penultimate Penang street food, has found its way to Idaho. Simultaneously sweet, sour, salty, and spicy, with rice noodles cooked until they quiver like a virgin's inner thigh on her wedding night - Krung Thai does right by this dish. 3) Shallots - a South Asian chef's love letter to his customers. You'll find beads of caramelized shallots in the bases of Krung's noodle dishes, stir-fries, and curries. Krung's chef appreciates the wholeness of flavor shallots impart into dishes, and using them is his way of saying, "I give a damn." So if you, too, give a damn about Thai food, you'll drive past the exercises in mediocrity that are Boise's Thai restaurants, and you'll continue 20 miles to Nampa for Krung Thai. Then, you'll realize that you never have to settle for a purple Skittle ever again.

Awful experience. There was only one server for the whole place and she was very overwhelmed. Took forever to get our food. The food was no better than the Costco Thai food. When we went to pay we were charged the group tip rate even though we're were a total of 8 people but 3 were under the age of one! When my brother tried to pay the Asian lady at the counter swiped his card and then told h he could not pay his tip in cash!?!? When he would not sign his credit card slip she signed it for him! Will never go back.

This is a great Thai restaurant. My husband and I have travelled around Asia and miss the great food. We were excited when Krung Thai opened in a Nampa a few years ago. We are frequent customers and recommend the Thai Basil and curries.

So I was in Nampa visiting my family for Thanksgiving. Inexplicably I had a huge craving for my newfound favorite food: Thai, so I grabbed my brother, hopped into the beat up 1987 Bronco that my parents so generously let me borrow, and took him to Krung Thai. I've gotta say that they really tried with the atmosphere, but unfortunately wound up with the offspring of an Asian restaurant and a Denny's. 'A' for effort? Sure, I can't complain. And I also can't complain about the price. $5 lunch specials. But what really got me was that it felt like they couldn't decide to be a Chinese, Japanese, or Thai place. So they did all of it in a par or slightly sub par fashion. Sushi that I didn't try, Miso soup, chopsticks, and (I could be wrong on this one) spring rolls are not traditionally Thai. They served Miso soup before the main entree. I ended up eating most of my brother's soup (not because it was good, but because I'm not terribly picky and I hate to waste food). The seaweed, or I believe it's seaweed in Miso anyway, was too chewy. It tasted like it may have been freezedried and in turn unsuccessfully unfreezedried. My food was decent. The spring roll (which may or may not be Chineese vice Thai) was pretty good, and the meal also wasn't bad. The only thing I can complain about on that is the noodles were a bit chewy. Seems to be a trend with this place... Anyway, overall I might go again if I have another insatiable Thai craving while in Nampa, but I'll definitely get a salad instead of the soup next time.

I've joked about coming here ever since it opened and I discovered that my fiance was terrified of the thought of eating sushi in Nampa. However, a prior review sparked my curiosity and I no longer had a choice. Indeed, the wakame in the miso is chewier than is typical. The chopsticks are the long plastic Chinese style. They do use chopsticks in Thailand for noodle dishes (Chinese influence), but we were given them with the sushi (obviously Japanese). This place is definitely a bit of a mash of Asian culture rather than strictly Thai. Now for a breakdown of the food for the two times I've come here; lunch and dinner. For dinner, we ordered the Gang Pah curry (spicy!), Krung Thai Salad which came with a warm and slightly spicy peanut sauce dressing on the side (love love loved this) and a Dragon Roll (pretty good). I think they use single smoked unagi or something, it was different than the other sushi places I've been to but we liked it. For dessert we had coconut ice cream which came with a nice peanut sauce drizzled on top. The starter salads they brought out before our meal also had a nice peanut sauce dressing. Apparently they do a good job with peanut sauces. Lunch was unimpressive apart from a shrimp appetizer that came with a plum dipping sauce, and the fried tofu was okay. I'm not sure the seafood in my dining partners entree was very fresh, especially after trying one of the mussels. As for the "eel and cucumber" roll... I think it's the first time I've ever considered not finishing sushi in a restaurant without being stuffed. It was inside-out (uramaki) and had no eel sauce, but that aside something about it just tasted off. Still, this place isn't as scary as I thought so I may venture for something raw next time. It'd be nice to not have to resort to Fred Meyer sushi anymore when I have a craving but don't want to drive out of town (desperate measures, I know) so hopefully they have better quality. Other than that, I'd come back here for their salads and maybe to try some of their other curries. Based on food alone; 2 stars for lunch, 3.5 for dinner. Hoping for better luck next time.

For all it's numerous flaws, you have to give credit for a restaurant that offers to give the 3rd lunch/dinner for free if you buy 2 lunch/dinner entrees. (only until Aug 2009) What to make of this? IMHO, it was to reward the poor unlucky souls who actually succeed in descending into the underworld and finding a run down part of Nampa that looks like it had better days back in 1974, and finding this lousy excuse of an eatery. This restaurant used to be a fast food joint, and the new owners didn't bother to upgrade the facilities. The restaurant is located in a horrible location on Garrity. My roommate was craving sashimi and miso because he was ill, but didn't want me driving to Boise. I browsed and found Krung Thai on Yelp. Ordered pad thai and a sashimi combo; I was taken a bit back when the lady asked me over the phone if I knew sashimi didn't come with rice. (Not a good sign) I pick up the food, take it home in a couple of minutes, and get it out of the bag. The portion size is decent, but the presentation is horrible. The seaweed salad looks like stringed snot , and it is pungent. My roommate takes one bite, tries to take another bite because tako is his favorite, and has to give up because it's not fresh. Miso was ok, since it was a packaged paste. The beef pad thai was grey, mushy, bland, and cold. Worst of all, the cook crumbled peanuts on top, and sadly, it felt like I was chewing on a chewy shoestring combination of Elmer's and Lime Pledge that was laced with gravel. It hurt my teeth, and it had no taste. I really really wanted to like this place, I would have rather spent the $$ I saved in gas and gone to Jack in the Box.. In retrospect, I'm really glad that I didn't complain to the cashier about them not telling me over the phone about the buy 2 combo's, get a 3rd for free, because there's nothing there that was edible. That's my review, and I'm going to try to get this restaurant nominated for Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. Absolute BAKA!
