I love Patty's. I used to live in Moscow and we went all the time for the nachos. Every time we are back in town visiting we go in and it's always good. I've eaten at dozens of Mexican places, I grew up in San Diego, but Patty's has something special that most places dont, they have a very unique flavor going on I can't quite put my finger on. I think lots of cilantro and lime, and just a very unique combination of spices on the meat, makes their food very one-of-a-kind. Moscow is very lucky to have a place like this; they have outdoor BBQ days in the summer, and it seems like every year they add to the seating and decor, the place is way more upgraded now compared to 7 or 8 years ago. Tons of seating, friendly service, amazing salsa and fresh salty chips, Patty's is the Mexican gem of Moscow, and maybe all of Idaho!

Great place for a Mexican breakfast and lots of outdoor seating. Reasonable prices and great drinks. This is a great spot for Mexican eats (especially breakfast) in a town with limited options. Great place for outdoor happy hour or drinks too. I would definitely come back.

Wow!!! Just awesome! I always get the super burrito with shredded beef, so flavorful, massive, and just amazing! Their green salsa is the best, I sometimes buy a container of it, expensive, but worth it! I asked which tamale the cashier liked best, and he surprised me by saying veggie. It had roasted poblanos, and Mexican cheese, and was really good! I will have to try a meat next time, but I've never been disappointed here. Also, they make their own horchata here, awesome!!!!

Here's the scoop on this little place in Moscow, it's Mexican food but with Patty's twist on it. It's a nice family owned place, super cool, chill spot to have dinner or lunch. Yes there is times when is extremely busy and a long line at the door, it's definitely worth the wait! La casa & other "Mexican" restaurants do not compare to Pattys. You can definitely tell the food is canned food. Pattys makes everything fresh in the morning, I smell it on my to class when I walk! You won't find "The Pattys experience" if you don't go there and try it out for yourself!

Stopped in on a beautiful night in June. You order at the counter...pick up drinks at the bar...and if you have ordered the special...drop by the grill to drop off your order. The mixed grill says it feeds two but it would be fine for three or four. The grilled vegetable tamales were delicious. There was a very fun nine piece reggae band that played. Friendly service...beautiful patio with gorgeous flowers everywhere. What a treat!

I have been to Patti's multiple times and this was the worst yet. I went in today to get a burrito and the guy said do you want a small or large so for $9 I got a burrito I could have got from 711 for $0.99. Then my order was 11.11 with the drink I gave the guy a $20 and a dime, he just stares at me for a minute, I took back the dime gave him a quarter he gives me back 9.13 not going back ever again such a rip off.

I love this place. The outdoor seating the friendly staff the house made chips with two types of salsa the amazing food it just doesn't get better than this. As the sign says it's not a fast food restaurant expect to sit a while munching on chips and talking with friends while your food is made to order it is worth the time. They even deliver but not on tuesday because tuesday is 2 for one burrito day and they get swamped. I've yet to have anything there that disagreed with me. Took my father there for tacos once. They offer both street style and tex mex style so we were both very happy.

Well...my first time there. I asked for Carne Asada and they were sold out at 5pm. I asked for chicken mole and they're sold out. I order the Chipotle shrimp. I don't know what kind of sauce that was but it was not chipotle. The shrimp were undercooked and had a slimey texture to them. The rice for some reason was really salty. The beans were okay. 3 people ordered the same thing and they all only ate about 2 or 3 shrimp before deciding it was just not edible. I decide to try the chicken mole from my in law's plate since apparently she got the last dish available before they sold out. The mole was very very dark and nothing like what their picture looked like. But at least it was edible. A little burnt taste to it but manageable. About 10 minutes later, 2 of the 3 shrimp eaters got stomach sick. Yea I will be back in the area and will definitely NOT be going back there. Their customer service was not all that great. The only thing I liked was the outdoor setting but since it was super cold, it was not even enjoyable. Very dissatisfied. Paid $70 for 3 people to eat 6 shrimp total and get sick. Now we have to go pay for something at the pharmacy and something for me to eat since I was still hungry.

Okay- here's the deal with Patty's: Beautiful outdoor seating, extremely spendy and always about 95% rice, beans, and cilantro and 5% meat. Seriously- order anything here and they load it up on rice and beans SO much you'll forget it's not vegan. Authentic but NOT worth the money. We find La Casa to be much more friendly and the food is 10x better, not to mention cheaper. UPDATE: The owner (owner's son?) of this restaurant sent me a rude Yelp "compliment" pretending to be customer of Patty's Kitchen and tried to make me feel bad for the negative review. Just an FYI: the owners of this restaurant pretend to be customers and leave fake positive Yelp reviews ("Tre A"). This kind of behavior says a lot about a business and the way they run it. I wont ever be going back.

Honestly, this is sort of a fun place. Realistically, it's basically a shack out on the lawn though. When we walked in, we didn't realize how sprawled out it was, because you can't really see it from the front. We sauntered up to the bar, ordered a couple of margaritas and some chips. Drinks get taken back picnic tables with a bit of overhead covering and then they bring food to you at your tables. Drinks were refreshing, but the food was ordinary. Nibblish type things and nothing to get excited about. Since it was a beautiful afternoon and it was busy, it took a bit to get seconds of chips and things.

I have traveled to Mexico for many years and have experienced all kinds of meals in all kinds of places and because of this rarely eat at Mexican restaurants in the Northwest because most are simply not Mexican food like is had in Mexico. Having said all that, Patty's takes me as close to Mexico as I've ever gotten at a Restaurant in the Northwest. Your meal is prepared fresh and it tastes great too. I had a grilled fish taco meal which was not on the menu but they made it without a problem. To top it off most seating is outside just like Mexico. I will return.

We went after a football game this past fall, it was not good at all. The food was bland, dry and cold. Took forever to get our food, it wasn't right and it was nothing like I remembered from the last time I visited. It's off our list, I'd rather go across the street to Taco time.

Great food, friendly staff. Patio is perfect on a nice day. Shredded chicken enchiladas were amazing!

LOVE the food! Best Mexican in the area! The patio is perfect on a beautiful day! If the weather is bad I recommend getting it to go.

We decided to try this place again, considering the fact we already knew it was pricey. We figure we would at least get decent food, but that was not the case. We ordered the burritos, and they lacked taste. We definitely will not be going back there again.

Delicious Mexican food, authentic for Idaho. Fast service, great food. Doesn't look like much from the road, but well worth the stop. Parking is on the side or in the back. I had pork tamales, daughter had chicken quesadillas, son had a huge burrito that I'm surprised he finished and husband had the Patty's nachos. The server suggested a type of meat and husband was not disappointed. Fun outdoor seating, good looking frat boys work there! I'll stop in again when I visit my daughter at U of I.

You couldn't ask for a better outdoor dining experience in Moscow than at Patty's Kitchen. The atmosphere is great for summer lunches or dinners with a large enclosed outdoor dining area and plentiful flowers. While Patty's is primarily outdoor summer dining they do offer carry out and catering year round (which is great for mid-winter Mexican food cravings). Patty's Kitchen offers a basic Mexican restaurant menu. The food is good, but can be a bit dry as a lot of the sauces don't survive the oven very well. Portions are large, and a reasonable price considering that it is not fast food. The salsas are simply amazing; my favorite is the salsa verde which is, in my opinion, the best part of eating at Patty's. If you go during normal lunch or dinner hours, expect a wait. The staff is great, and does their best to get chips and salsa out to all the tables, but you need to pay attention when food is brought around or you might wait longer than necessary. Overall, Patty's Kitchen is a great choice for delicious Mexican food, particularly on a nice warm day.

I had the chimichangas and a few other things, but I wasn't terribly impressed until I had the the traditional tacos. They're perfectly flavorful and work well with lime. The service is great. It has a very small-town feel appropriate to its Moscow clientele. The seating here just plain sucks if it's cold. There's a little hut that usually can't accommodate the lunch or dinner crowd, and the hut itself is, naturally, fairly cold.

My husband has been obsessed with the roasted and verde salsas and purchases at least two containers a week at the farmer's market. We finally made it a priority to stop for lunch at Patty's on Sunday. It was a hot day but we found plenty of shaded tables and felt pretty comfortable with our huge mugs of beer. The fish tacos that had lured us in were pretty good, but not great. Something was missing but I can't exactly put my finger on it. Tasty rice and beans on the side, superb salsa. The red is my favorite. Apparently it is a bit cheaper to buy the salsa from the farmer's market ($4.00 per container versus $4.75 at the restaurant) so we'll probably keep doing that until the season ends. Honestly, it was a bit pricier than we were expecting from something that seemed so casual but I'm sure that two as-big-as-your-head mugs of Mac & Jack's AA and NB Ranger IPA didn't help our final $37.00 total. We definitely want to keep going because we enjoy the chips and salsa and the atmosphere but we'll probably share a beer and an entree.

Do not underestimate this small mexican shack in idaho! It's small, but they emphasize it is NOT fast food, and I wholehearted agree. The food here is pretty authentic as it gets in Idaho. Seating: is outdoor in a cute area with hanging flower plants and benches with tables that go up to your chest (or maybe my friends and I are just a little short). Very pet friendly, as some people brought their dogs. Food: I got two carne asada soft tacos here (one traditional, one non) and they were both pretty good. A little on the small side for what it's worth though, but it definitely hit the spot. My friends got the Pollo en Mole, which was very moist and tasty, and the shredded beef burrito. We inhaled the food in 10 minutes. They guys here are so nice and will come around and bring you chips and salsa; and the salsa here is amazingly good, although a bit on the salty side though.

Unreasonably bad on many levels. The grim summary: - We waited an hour and fifteen minutes for our food to arrive. You read it right: ONE HOUR and FIFTEEN MINUTES for Mexican food. Hire a couple more people maybe? - For a party of seven, we were handed one miniature decorative tin pail (the size of a coffee mug) full of eleven tortilla chips, along with a one-inch container of salsa (the kind a side of ketchup is served in). I have eaten Mexican food all around the country, and have never EVER seen a more stingy serving of chips and salsa. This tells me that our bad experience wasn't a mishap, but that these are simply terrible restaurant owners. Thumbs WAY down for this. - When it finally arrived, the food wasn't hot and seemed as though it had been sitting for awhile, but we inhaled it because we were beyond starving at this point. It is also worth mentioning that the beer was more tepid than cold. After eating all around Moscow for 3 days, my suggestion is this: If you want great Mexican food and simply must have it in an outdoor setting, go to Qdoba in the Moscow Mall. It was outstanding, fresh and they have outdoor tables. Or, better yet, take it to-go and head to the University's Arboretum. The best sit-down restaurant we ate at during our visit was Gambino's. Great service, great prices, ICE cold beer, and super tasty.

I like the extensiveness of the menu, yet Patty's is mostly hit or miss on flavor. I liked their rice and the beans were okay, but a little bland. The salsa was very good, but as usual, most Mexican food in the Pac. NW have stale-ass tortilla chips. I like mine light and crisp, right out of the deep fryer. Heart attack in a bowl. lol. I do not recommend their chorizo anything. Although they make it from scratch, it doesn't taste like anything I've ever eaten in Mexico. Maybe I'm expecting too much. The patio is awesome during the warmer months! I think if they had tv's out it would be a great place to grab a beer and watch a game, weather permitting.

Yum, this place is so dang good! The best steak taco I have had in ages. My only complaint is it's hard to park there but one must prevail to find great food.

This place has grown so much over the last few years, but the food is still just as filling and taste great. Actually I don't recommend the enchiladas, but the burritos are always tasty and it definitely fills you up. Chips and salsa are served of course, and the salsa is pretty good. Plenty of seating, good place to go for a group. Get a beer, lunch and enjoy the sunshine. Or shade.

Hands down the best fish tacos and tamales. Eat out on the patio during nice weather. Take it to go when inclement. Love Patty's!

Sorry if this is a little harsh, but I review from the vegan perspective. It's just how I roll. I came with my host (non-vegan) and when we walked up realized it was two for one super burrito night (extra star!). I assume she enjoyed her burrito. I got mine vegetarian with no cheese and sour cream. I asked if I could have avacado substituted and the guy said it would cost a dollar extra. I pointed out that I had removed most of the ingredients from the burrito but he said there was nothing he could do. Hmm. So the two burritos had about a half pound weight difference, maybe more, which means they simply removed all the stuff I didn't want and gave me no extra of the things I did want. Cool. Salsa verde was good. The saving grace. Everything else was about as bland as I'd expect from a burrito made in Moscow, ID (sorry to be a hater, but we all have preconcieved notions of places, it's just human nature). I'd rather get a burrito from Chipotle. Even I have to use Chipotlaway to get the bloody stains out of my underwear :]

One of the few places in the Moscow area where I have consistently gotten a good meal and good service. The quesadillas a la carte are my personal favorite and the atmosphere and decorations are great :)

the place looks gorgeous after the renovation but there's a few things that could use a little change. bottom line, its mostly an efficiency issue. it seems that they are always under-staffed. food ALWAYS gets to you way longer than it needs to be, considering everything should have already been prepped and just plated. its generally a 30-45 minute wait to get your food. very little chips and salsa are brought while you wait for your food and they rarely get refilled. however, when the food does come, its usually really delicious. i recommend the tacos vs the burritos. burritos don't taste as good. it just has a lot of beans.. and thats the only thing you can really taste.

  • Christina P.

Okay, my review might be a little biased because of my affection for this place, but the food is truly fantastic. Let's start with the salsa verde: so so excellent. One of the best salsas I've ever had. Their burritos are big and filling, and you can choose a variety of fillings for them. I usually got the fish tacos, which are some of the best I've ever had. I'm from San Diego, and when I went back to visit a couple years ago, I kept comparing the fish tacos to Patty's. San Diego is where the fish taco was born, but I think Patty's Kitchen in little Moscow Idaho got them pretty close to perfect. I'm glad they're doing well enough to renovate the little stand, and I hope they remain successful for years to come.

Where was this place when I was going to UI? I went here with a group of seven family (and soon-to-be family) members for a nice, casual meal and was very pleased with the food, service, and ambiance. The food is a little pricier than a typical college town joint (especially considering it is right across the street from the Student Union), but the portions are significant, and everything was fresh - no canned goods detected anywhere including the fresh, spicy salsa. At the suggestion of the cashier, we went for a single Big Vandal Burrito, which is the size of your thigh, packed with tasty meats, beans, rice, et cetera, and very easily fed our entire crew for only $24. A college student could live on one of those for several days if they had to. We were there on a Wednesday evening and had plenty of room to spread out and relax, but when I drove by on Friday night the place was packed with a line out to the sidewalk. Hopefully the smallish indoor area will seat enough hungry college students to keep the doors open through the less hospitible winter and spring months! A well-rounded and reasonably priced tap selection and comfortable outdoor seating around the wood-fired grill make this family-run shop a very welcome addition to Moscow's casual dining options. I'll certainly try to find a reason to return the next time I'm back in town.

Here's an update on Patty's Kitchen... it's been bumped up to five stars for one reason and one reason only - the summer Mexican grill on Wednesdays and Fridays! For a mere $25, here is what you get: a half pound of tri-tip, a half pound of sausage, a good amount of chicken, two pork ribs, two lamb shanks, grilled veggies, a plate of rice, beans and lettuce, and two drinks of your choice, including beer. If you get beer, then you will receive a giant heaping of the best food I've had since moving to Moscow - and the best barbecued food this side of the Cascades - for about $18. It easily fed my mother, father and myself, with room to spare. If you don't come check this out on a Wednesday or Friday night, you my friend, are an idiot. I'm giving it four stars based on one visit thus far. A nice range of outdoor seating, a kitchen in what looks like a small airplane hangar, and a decent list of draught beers for good prices makes this place a winner to me. I had fish tacos, which were lightly fried to deliciousness, and wrapped in wonderful taco add-ons. But the best part of this place is their chips and salsa. They sell bottles of their green salsa, and its probably the best I've ever had.

Yes! Five stars! This place is the best! I wish I could come here every day! A group of us met here a couple of Fridays ago, and I've been thinking about it almost every day since. The patio is great! The food is great! The service is great! It's all too wonderful for words. B and I got the full Mexican grill, which was a ginormous platter of grilled meats and other goodness. It even came with beers! All for $25. Best deal ever! It fed (more like overfed) three! The salsa is as good as everyone says it is! I really think that this might be one of my favorite restaurants of all time. I LOVE PATTY'S MEXICAN KITCHEN!!!

  • Mari M.

A bit pricey but my favorite place for Mexican food in the Palouse. I love the outdoor patio area. The salsa always tastes fresh and flavorful. There is a sign that says something about how they aren't a fast food place but I've never had to wait too long for my order here, even on busy days. I wish the bathroom was a bit cleaner but it's not the worth I've been to. If I lived closer, I'd probably eat here at least a couple times per week!

  • Mallory S.

Very good!!! I had a chicken quesadilla and my bf got chicken fajitas. We also got the 'party-ritas' which were very good but we questioned if there was tequila in them. Chips and salsa were really good. I would definitely go back! They had a good variety of everything. Would have five stars if the service wasn't slow.

Very good seasonal Mexican - no idea what anything besides the fajitas taste like - we ALWAYS end up with the Shrimp & Chicken variety. They keep us coming back!

Love this place. Great chips and salsa. Fresh hand made Very friendly service. Adrienne is a star. The owners patty and Gerardo very kind and love what they do. Great fun traditional and some not so traditional items on menu I asked them to do a custom taco meal for me and it was fantastic. Hand made chorizo and shrimp taco. Great combo. Try the Friday BBQ wow.

Overpriced Mexican food. We got the BBQ for 2 for $43 and it was poor. The ribs were tough as cowboy boots. Nice atmosphere but we won't be going again.

They raised prices recently. Super spendy. And don't go on a busy weekend. I went moms weekend and waited 3 hours for a burrito that was sub par and $15

This place used to be great. What happened? Got a super burrito and nachos to split. Cost $25. The burrito tasted like a Taco Bell bean version. What's super about that? The nachos same thing... No meat or maybe a tablespoon of finely chopped up something?? Oh and then you have to pay extra for pico salsa...$1 for a tablespoon. High price low quality. Not worth it.

    (1)
  • Eric C.

The prices here are a little on the high side for dinner but good for lunch. I'm a huge fan of the fish tacos. The menu, and building itself, has evolved over the years into a solid restaurant. If you're in the Palouse and craving Mexican food, make sure to stop by Patty's.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
