The Griddle brings a retro feel to breakfast and is slowly becoming one of my favorite spots to have some OJ and munch on an omelet. I was somewhat wary of The Griddle on first glance. Here you have a place that is kind of out in the middle of nowhere in terms of location and proximity to anything and it is very crowded. I can't stand waiting in lines to eat and I am also not a fan of driving off the beaten path just to grab some breakfast but I was mildly surprised by the excursion. Seeing that seating was in short supply my girlfriend and I opted to saddle up the bar and began perusing the menu. The Griddle sports a good selection of breakfast items and we were eager to dig into them. I had an omelet and she had corned beef hash. Both were very good. My omelet was fluffy and full of meat and cheese and her corned beef hash was flavorful and not too dry like some other eateries. I was also happy to be drinking orange juice that was freshly squeezed on location. Juice seems to always be better when it gets made just minutes before you drink it. Since we were at the counter, we got to see everyone milling around in the kitchen and got to talk to a waiter while we were waiting for our food. The service here was prompt and constant and this was despite a very full house of hungry breakfast seekers. The only downside to The Griddle is it was a tad spendy but no more so than places like Goldy's or Jerry's State Court Cafe. Overall, we were very satisfied with our experience and will be returning soon.

Love it here! I always get the Caribbean French Toast and it's always fantastic! How do they do it?
(5)Morgan B.
My friend and I love The Griddle. We were excited to hear there was one closer to us, but unsure after reading the Yelp reviews. We decided to try it anyways and are glad to say that it did not disappoint! We showed up about an hour from closing, so it was a little dead. Our waiter, despite being tired from a long and understaffed day, was a hoot. He was friendly, helpful, and funny. Definitely made the experience better. He also made one of, if not THE best latte I've ever had! The food was delicious! I had the California Benedict which was a little better than expected because the bacon and even hashbrowns had the perfect amount of crisp. My friend had the Caribbean French Toast, which was enjoyed so much I almost didn't get to try it. All in all, it was a great experience and I can't wait to go back again!

Having gone back again, I find I need to upgrade them to a 4 Star. They have come a long way from my initial low rating. The new management is much more personal and the new menu (to me, at least) has some good things on it, like a lamb burger. Still have really fresh squeezed OJ. You can watch it being squeezed. Coffee is still good, roomy dining area and clean. The Eagle restaurant is our choice for breakfast when in Eagle.

I come to Meridian every 3 years and this time I want to make sure I hit the non chain restaurants. After looking at the reviews for this place I had to make stop in and try the Caribbean French Toast. Since it was a weekday, there was no lines and you seat yourself. The staff greets you once you step through the 2nd door and the next thing I notice is how clean the place is. The decor is bright and welcoming. The servers let you settle in for a moment and ask you what you'd like to drink. In a few moments they return with your drink and let you know the special for the day. I knew what i wanted...Caribbean French Toast with side bacon. Within minutes your plate arrives and it looks deelish. Then I notice the side order of bacon, 4 meaty pieces. Immediately I start cutting up my french toast and poured the syrup over it. I try not to drown it because I want to taste more of the french toast. OH - EMMM - GEE, I was in heaven, the first bite was so tasty and fluffy and cooked all the way through. (some places you still see the yoke-ness still in the middle). And the bacon, did I mention how meaty it was - cooked too perfection not burnt nor flimsy. This was so good I returned the next day since it was my last morning in Meridian. Once again, it was cooked perfect and tasting the same as the day before.

We shared a modified Vic's omelet this morning, which turned out great along with wonderfully crispy (at our request) hash browns. Got some of their famous hotcakes on the side to which my husband commented that they were the best he has had in a long time: super fresh, fluffy and delicious. Service was very friendly but as a tea drinker, it's never easy to get refills, it seems. All in all it was quite tasty and we would certainly come back.
(4)Joy R.
Wow. Read reviews here and decided to try it out. Fantastic service and delightful food. During the weekday it was slow. I'm sure this place is packed on the weekends. I can't say enough positive things about the service. Seriously stellar. Will definitely be trying again.

While visiting Idaho a couple of weekends ago, we decided to give The Griddle a try, and it was a hit! Other than homemade hollandaise sauce, The Griddle has so far been the best hollandaise I have found that wasn't at a "high end" place. It was delicious, and I enjoyed the california benedict very much. The kids pancakes came back a little raw at first, but they were very quick and prompt about getting new pancakes out, and the kids loved them. My husbands only complaint was that he ate too much ;) If you're in Meridian and in need of a quick inexpensive breakfast, I'd definitely recommend The Griddle.
(4)Gary G.
Great friendly service. Had a massive cinnamon roll with cream cheese on top. To die for. Servers that are not serving me actually talked to me. Certainly not a restaurant norm Server was Jeffrey. Great server

All hungry road warriors just passing through, stop here! It's right off the 84. Leave the gut bomb road food behind and get some good food. It's not vegan or GF friendly but there are some healthier options available. The wait staff is super friendly and high energy. There's a 10% off coupon for first time Yelp check-in's. Our service was great so we paid it forward to our server. To drink I had a breve and fresh squeezed orange juice. For breakfast, I ordered poached eggs, extra crispy hash browns, and bacon with a biscuit. Everything was made exactly how I wanted. My better half ordered the cream cheese strawberry rhubarb stuffed French toast with a side of crispy bacon. Too sweet for my taste but then again, that's why he ordered it and not me. :) The French toast wasn't stuffed, exactly. It was layered, more like a "breakfast grilled cheese sandwich" in the words of my partner. I recommend this place if you don't have the time to go into downtown Boise.

Favoite place for breakfast in Meridian. The fresh squeezed orange is a huge hit. Pecan waffle with banana made to order and fresh tasting. Also a 10%.discount available. Thanks Griddle.
(4)Matt H.
Came with a party of 13 plus an infant. Once seated the service for drinks and taking orders was fast and courteous. Considering the size of the order the food came out really fast. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The sausage gravy tastes like a powdered mix and was really bland. Also the food prices seem to reflect the popularity, where the more popular dishes cost more, but would appear that is where the company cuts corners on quality. I think the price was decent considering and would like to come back to try some of the not so popular items.
(3)Jeannie M.
The Griddle never fails to disappoint. Hubs and I went there for a Mother's Day breakfast and it was (of course) packed! We order Caribbean French Toast and BACON French Toast, yes, BACON! Both items were delicious and the perfect portion size. Our waiter was fantastic and checked back on us multiple times. Love the atmosphere, love the staff, and LOVE their food!
(4)Kimberly S.
What a great place. We came here because its close to our hotel, and glad we did! Yummy breakfast, awesome service. Super clean, great decor. We will definitely be back!
(5)Lindsey R.
We sat and waited for a table for at least 15 minutes. During our wait a table right on front of us was empty, bused and set. A larger group of 6 or so came in and got sat ahead of us. We were expecting to be next, but the waiter seating people left and was working their tables. We left. We never expect good service here, but that was the limit.
(1)Katherine Z.
Great service from Rey, super friendly, kid savvy and great food recommendations. I had the Caribbean French toast in the combo, with bacon and eggs was the perfect amount of food. My boyfriend had the California Benedict with avocado, bacon and tomato. Also delicious. Very attentive and friendly staff, made us feel very welcome and at home. Menu is eclectic, something for everyone. Can't wait to come back and try something else!!
(4)Kurt D.
Exceptional restaurant. Seated quickly and attentive waiter. Order came within 8 minutes. All hot foods served steaming hot. Waiter gave us a short lesson on differences of hot cakes, flap jacks and pancakes. Teen said they were best he's ever had. The bacon was incredible. Spouse had biscuits and gravy and it was amazing. The flavor of the gravy was very savory. Will definitely come back.
(5)C W.
My wife and I love to sneak in here for a brunch date now and again. The food is really quite amazing and for the most part the service is good. And the bacon.....Ohhhh the bacon is quite heavenly. I also suggest the fresh squeezed orange juice only because the machine they use is rather unique...
(4)Mary M.
Great service and great pancakes. Recommend the pumpkin pecan. Fresh squeeze Orange juice is a must as well. Best time to arrive is before 10 am on Sundays otherwise you will have you wait for a table. Arrive before 9 am and you have your choice of where to sit. We prefer the spacious booths towards the back.
(5)Teresa V.
Good Cook'n Griddle is Idaho's version of Breakfast at Tiffany's. The food is always fresh and the special offer up unique tastes that leave you wanting to come back again. Must try the Caribbean French Toast and the Crab cakes Benedict. Fresh squeezed Orange JuiceJuice is the a great compliment to any meal. If you sleep in and feel like catching lunch they offer up some fantastic lunch items. Or you can grab a late breakfast. Hope you enjoy as much as we do.
(5)Damien G.
This place is absolutely amazing! The Golden Gate sandwich is hands down the best ive ever had. Service, food quality, and cleanliness is always on point. I have to mention that our server Ty was awesome. I will recommend The Griddle to everyone.
(5)Andrew P.
The bacon is amazing. I took my employees here for breakfast and the rest of the food was just ok. So if you come in just order bacon with a side of bacon and you will give it five stars.
(3)Darci S.
I was really looking forward to eating here, maybe that's why I was somewhat disappointed - high expectations. The food seemed overpriced for what it was. I ordered the pancakes with bacon-bourbon-caramel sauce and was anticipating great food. The pancakes were dry and heavy, not to mention floury tasting. Not quite what I was expecting. The sausage and eggs were ok. The restaurant was uncomfortably warm at 9:30 in the morning and I noticed several people besides me changing seats to get out of the sun. It was quite crowded, seemed to stay very busy. The service was very good, I will say that. But for the price and what I got, I probably won't go back, sorry to say that.
(2)Christopher J.
Awesome! Perfect thick cut crispy bacon, delicious hash browns, eggs cooked perfectly, absolutely amazing out of this world Raspberry Crepes!! Fast good service. Food came out fast. Great place to eat!
(5)Phillip D.
We went to The Griddle for breakfast. I was hesitant as we have had soo many not do good experiences with breakfast. O sure, they are all ok, but that is usually the highlight. I grave a great experience with great staff that know how to treat people and serve you well. I grave something different. Not the same old eggs, bacon, and hash browns that any 10 year old could make. Well, I wont say that this place is great just yet, I will have to come back here a few more times before I can say that. But what I will say is that my 1st time was a good one. Our waiter was a tall guy that said he had been there just a few months. If there are any more like this one around, they better snatch em up. This guy was great. He was nice, friendly and entertaining. Unfortunately, I did not get his name. My daughter said that if we had had a mystery shop at this place, this guy would be aces and get raving marks. I had the Caribbean French Toast. Anything dipped in a Coconut batter has to be good! If Green Beans were dipped in Coconut batter, I think I would even eat those. I love Coconut so much that I dream of Coconuts dipped in Coconut batter. Anyway, this is what I ordered. They tasted a bit like doughnuts, except not near as sweet. I had them leave off the powdered sugar just for that reason. I did not want them to be too sweet. Not sure I thought I was in the Caribbean as I was eating them, but they did taste of coconut and goodness. This place is not much to look at and has a huge menu. So I will have to come back and try it again before I can decide if its really a great breakfast experience, but so far so good.
(4)Damon D.
Great Bacon Cinnamon. Rolls lack flavor Dads Pancake is salty Hot chocolate is bland
(3)Kimberly T.
This is our Sunday Yumday! We love the food we love the service! Even if you walk to the door and they are a packed house give them 15 quick minutes and you will be seated and treated to a great breakfast with a smile.
(5)Nicole B.
Tried to have breakfast however we could not get seated. Hostess came out and called our name then was rude when we started to go in stating she was not ready for us. We continued to watch several parties be seated before us after 30 minutes of waiting we left. Working in restaurants I understand it was busy and we had 4 adults and 2 kids but there was a lack of communication and professionalism you could clearly hear them talking about how they couldnt seat us so it didnt matter.
(1)Angela K.
Cool retro decor & very delicious food! The staff is very attentive & personable. We are new to the area & will for sure be back again & again!!! The also have some awesome coffee! Do not pass up on a chance to have a meal here!!
(5)Ben H.
On a positive the homemade jam is excellent. We were very disappointed with the service we received from Ash. Her bad day really ruined our experience with the Restaurant. Thinks got off on the wrong foot from the start even with a service of our drinks then when we showed her our coupon for the from Yelp she took our check and was very upset about it. Far as the food I would say this is the best in town but I think because of the service it really ruined our expectation of what we 8. The tree sale and the corn beef were really good outside of that everything else was average.
(2)Melissa K.
I don't eat out for breakfast very often, but would totally make the effort to come back and eat here. Came here with my parents, who had eaten at their restaurant in Winnemuca and raved about how great they were. They serve breakfast and lunch. We went at about 11am, and I had already eaten breakfast so I went for a sandwich. It was very good! The bread was dipped in a batter with red pepper flakes and parmesan cheese and then grilled. My parents both had breakfast, which looked delicious! I read many things on their menu that sounded worth trying. Lots of very unique options, you would never see at somewhere like IHOP. Most everything is made from scratch, I believe, so it takes a little longer to get your order; but I think it's worth the wait. Has a diner feel, complete with a full counter/bar stool area reminiscent of a traditional diner. Everything was priced a little higher than I expected, but I guess you get what you pay for! The only thing we ordered, that just seemed ridiculous was one sausage patty that cost $4! Employees were friendly and attentive. They also currently have a deal, where if you check in on yelp you get a 10% discount. Paid for the silly sausage patty! Lol!! All in all, I would come back. Would love to try some of their breakfast items.
(4)Fred S.
Just never satisfied when we dine here. Always hear that it's a great place, beginning to wonder if we hit it when the worst staff is on duty. I'm a big fan of biscuits and gravy. They totally mess it up. Might give it another try after I've forgotten how bad it was.
(2)Jenn C.
Sadly, today was our last visit to The Griddle. Overpriced food, very bitter coffee, portions are getting smaller and smaller and it's very hit and miss on getting your food to your table hot, or even warm. When we first moved here we loved this place. Not so much anymore. The quality of the food isn't consistent and service can be very hit or miss. There are better, more reasonably priced breakfast places in Meridian and Boise which we will be going to from now on. The atmosphere is nice and it does get really busy on the weekends. If they continue on the path we've experienced this may not be a problem in the future.
(2)Zach C.
I've never gone wrong with anything on the menu but I keep coming back to the Caribbean French Toast! It's amazing.
(5)GARY B.
Service was good. However food arrived cold to our table. For the price, the portions were small.
(2)Amanda L.
Two words: "Chorizo Benedict". It's just another piece of proof that someone up there loves us and wants us to be happy.
(5)Joe R.
This place has become a great "regular" place for my family and I on Sunday mornings. The food is all around good to great and the wait staff has always been very friendly. I'd love to give it 5 stars, but the huge open dining area makes for a pretty loud environment and lacks that "cozy" feel that is often a hallmark of an exceptional breakfast spot for me. The coffee is so-so, but they never leave your mug empty!
(4)Nash S.
The Griddle comes out to be an average breakfast joint that could have been as good as Joe Mamma's if it aspired to, but it keeps tripping over its own feet with easily fixable problems. They serve Dawson Taylor coffee, and make it just strong enough for coffee connoisseurs like me to enjoy. Sometimes, they make you wait a little bit on refills, but thankfully this doesn't happen too often. The reason I eat at The Griddle once in awhile is because it's a nice and easy two mile bike ride from my house. The atmosphere inside is nice with a classic diner touch and modernized refinements. Their Savory Crepe is phenomenal and is the best thing on the list after eat nearly everything. Their fruit crepes are also very damn good, but you'll usually spend a lot adding these to your main meal. So what's the bad? Well, for one thing, they have very high prices. For most selections, you will spend at least $10-12 and you won't be stuffed, either. Unless you order a few select things (clue: Savory Crepe), then you will likely walk away not being "stuffed," but usually being just "barely full." For lazy, fat Americans like the most of us, we want to feel like taking a power nap spending near $20 on breakfast. Now you understand why I choose to bike to the Griddle: It's because I never feel stuffed or lazy afterwords. This is the only way I can phrase being shorthanded positively...sort of... The service is ok-- nothing special. The food has always came out on time, so no complaints there. The Griddle is worth trying once, but if The Griddle is all you eat at, then you are really missing what else Boise has to offer.
(3)JS D.
This is a good place to come for breakfast. I have not been as impressed with lunch but whenever you come it is good service with a smile.
(4)Erwin R.
The Griddle is a breakfast joint with that home and old school feel. I was not sure what to expect but when I ordered the Coconut battered French Toast, I was amazed. I was in Idaho and not in Hawaii. How was this possible? I did not really get a chance to try the other foods. I did take a bite of the chicken fried steak, it was ok, kind of a let down given it was in cattle country!
(3)Cheryl O.
Excellent!! Friendly staff, vintage diner decor, freshly squeezed orange juice, fabulous crepes. Great menu selection. You won't be disappointed.
(5)Ed M.
Great place for breakfast! Folks will not leave hungry. Good portions and very fast service. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. Be sure to check out the daily specials too.
(4)Matt S.
We have been to this place for breakfast many times, but recently have decided there are better options for the price. The food is so-so, but for the price I expect much more for a breakfast place if I am spending $9.50 for an omelet. There are a lack of great breakfast places in this area and I would put this one in the middle of the pack and there are better alternatives.
(2)Lino R.
Very nice ambiance, good food. Prices a bit on the high side.
(3)Tim P.
Enjoyed the prompt service, friendly staff and fresh food. Would have been 5 stars but they didn't take 10% off when I showed the staff my Yelp checkin coupon and I didn't ask twice. I will be back!
(4)David L.
Delicious, high-quality food. Owners very kind and friendly. Service was good. Younger but experienced waitstaff. The Griddle has a loyal following in Nevada, and has been there for 50+ years, I believe. They now have 3 or 4 locations, this Meridian location is the newest. There is one in Eagle near the Boise River off Eagle Blvd as well. The Griddle is not a dive like some of the other places in in the Boise area I've tried. Compare The Griddle's quality to Goldy's Breakfast Bistro in Boise. Yup, I said it...the Griddle is that good (and frankly, much cleaner). The Griddle offers several grab-and-go dessert options to wet your appetite as well. The prices at The Griddle are moderate...they have something for everyone. At other places I've paid more and received much less quality food. I've also paid less and eaten in some real dumps. This place is very well kept, and given the quality and freshness of their food, it is worth every dime. Sure, they're not Denny's, Sherry's, or McDonald's, but they're not trying to be, either. This is high quality grub and a reasonable price. For breakfast, I had a massive omelet with bacon and cheese, hash browns, sourdough toast, wonderful jelly and left stuffed for the next 12 hours. My tab was around $8. Their homemade salsa has a kick - give it a try! The place is big enough to serve a party of 50 with room to spare. Consider The Griddle for your next team event or civic organization meeting (Rotary, Toastmasters, Chamber, etc.). Did I mention how clean this place is? Many other establishments have come and gone in the past few years, but The Griddle should be around for years to come. Keep up the good work, Griddle...the next time I'm in town, I bring my family and friends for sure!
(4)Nicole D.
Decent place for breakfast, its always crowded so go on off hours if possible. Retro feel to the dining room. I had the chorizo, eggs and potatoes with pico/salsa and sour cream, good combo. Prices may be a bit steep for breakfast in Meridian.
(3)Denise G.
We have never had a bad meal here...They are under new management and the service was excellent, which was something we hadn't experienced at the Eagle location. They have the best French Toast ever and their omelets are amazing as well! This is our go-to place fore breakfast and lunch...and we will go to this location from now on...friendly staff, amazing food!
(5)Mrs. D.
We had high hopes for this place, especially since in the lobby they had some baked goods that looked awesome! I had an omelet and it was ok, my only issue was that the cheese was kraft American cheese slices and I would have preferred real cheddar. My husband had biscuits and gravy, and the gravy had a pink mystery meat in it that was unappetizing and the gravy was like paste. It definitely didn't seem homemade at all. I would give this place another shot just because of the cute interior and friendly staff.
(3)Leah G.
This is my favorite place to go for breakfast. The atmosphere is amazing, the service is great and the freshly squeezed orange juice is great. Just watching the orange juicer contraption is fun ;) I try to branch out whenever I go to the griddle but my favorites are the crepes or the Caribbean french toast (coconut battered- yum)! The food is high quality and decent priced. some may say over priced but I say you get what you pay for.
(5)Dave L.
Food is average, highly over priced, service is inconsistent. For example when I come here for breakfast during the week and am allowed to substitute fruit for my toast and hashbrowns which I don't eat. Today after buying a $9.75 omelette I was informed that not onlywould there be a $2.50 upcharge but that it has never been allowed. After eating here several times a week for two years I'm done eating here. Not just because of this event but because of the service and the price too, everything combined makes this a no go for me from now on.
(1)Mark N.
Love the food, wait staff are improving. Like the variety of unique meals.
(4)Zab B.
The food was good but for the price which there was more food.
(2)Bill G.
We finally found this place after friends sugested we try it. It was Sauturday and raining so the place was packed. Seating was quick and service was prompt. Food was good, but, the size of the portions were VERY disappoinintg! The price for the "Bronco Scramble" was $9.95, and the amount of food was very small. Would not make a decent omelette and the hashbrown portions were equally disappoinintg. My wife's "bowl" of oatmeal was not even a CUP. If the very pleasant waitress had not broought her a second "bowl" she would hav eleft very unfilled. Good food, High prices and small quantities. They better either lower thier prices or increase the quantity. We wont return for quite a while and then if nothing has changed we will find a nother place!
