This was our first time eating here and we really enjoyed our dinner. We were a group of 8. My wife and I ordered the Family Style Meals menu. We both ordered our Raviloi, Chicken Marsala and it came with a family style pizza. The Raviloi and Chicken Marsala was great. The family pizza was delicious. The restaurant was very clean and the restaurant is very family friendly. It appeared to resemble something you would definitely see in Italy or Mediterranean Sea area. I enjoyed the sports bar area. The sport illustrate magazines were cool to see. The only issue we had was our granddaughter meal was delivered midway through our meal. I think the waitress skipped her order. It eventually came. Better late the never I guess.

Haven't been to Louie's in many years, and thought we would give it another shot. I remembered the food being so-so. Upon entering, the decor was nice, but worn. You could tell this place looked really good when it was new, but now showing its age. We were greeted by a very nice young waitress, and seated. Our table was very wobbley, but decided to make due. We looked at the wine list and ordered a bottle of Pinot Noir. The waitress came over and apologized ahead of time that she wasn't very good at opening wine bottles. I could tell she had not been trained very well, if at all, so we helped her. Not her fault. We then ordered. A anti pasti plate that consisted of all the usual items. It was large, and could have been a meal in itself. Everything tasted.....ok. Nothing special. We then received our salads which were good with house dressing. By this time, we were full. I ordered bake rigatoni with meat sauce, and she had meat raviolis. Both were ok... See the theme here? So, in closing, service was good, food, and decor were just ok. I will say that the prices were very reasonable. If you want a big portion, at a reasonable price, this place will work. For finer Italian, look elsewhere.

We took a chance on Louie's last night. We were very pleased with the food and the service. The Italian sausage was as good as I've eaten anywhere, even in Italy. The wine list was limited, but we were able to pick a decent wine to compliment our dinner choices.

I have only ever tried there pizza which I rather enjoy. What I like about Louie's is that they don't skimp on there toppings like so many other places. They load there toppings on. Which is awesome if you love lots of meat and vegie's and the price to add toppings is the best around. That's why I will continue making Louie's one of my main pizza establishments for years to come!

Artichoke Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo this is the ONLY thing I remember from this place. Trust me though it is SERIOUSLY worth remembering. I have not dinned here in probably 10 years, but I will never forget how great their Chicken Artichoke Fettuccine Alfredo was! I have not yet found a replacement that will match the quality and flavor of Louie's. The ambiance is romantic! Beautiful stained glass window.

This place is what it is - a solid "American" Italian pizza / pasta place. Standard huge menu, mostly Alfredo sauce based, nothing really all that inspired or traditionally Italian about anything. I ordered a Negroni, and they had no idea what that was. Had to look it up and show them. Why the four stars then? Two things - no false advertising, and absolutely outstanding service. About the food. They aren't billing themselves as an artisanal, traditional, blessed by the Dali Lama organic, etc. type of place. You walk in, think "this is what most of America thinks Italian food is", and that's that. I was hosting a going away party for my boss here, so were ordered a few fried apps to start. They were fried perfectly, the calamari (while certainly frozen) wasn't freezer burned, they hand-breaded the fried zucchini, and the fried ravioli was decent. Everyone loved it all. For my entree, I ordered the house-smoked salmon over linguine. Alfredo sauce over everything. The salmon was actually pretty damn good, and the pasta was, well, it's defining quality was that it was warm and covered with Alfredo. Service. Back to the Negroni. I gave Sean, our server, some crap about not knowing what a Negroni was, him working in an Italian restaurant and all. Rather than copping an attitude, he brought me their best attempt, and said "this is on us, if you like it, we'll make you another". It wasn't the best I had, but again, he wasn't selling me a story that this was a 'hand crafted' piece of art. They were being honest about it. He also knew exactly how the house smoked salmon was made (wet cured, hot smoked) which shows they train the servers right at Louie's. On top of that, he was just one of those guys that made everyone feel comfortable and made sure we were having a good time. At the end, while he could have done the whole "gratuity included" thing because our party was large enough (I asked, because I didn't see the fine print on the receipt) he said "I don't work like that". Power move, and more reason for me to come back. Some places you'd go to eat even if there were complete a-holes serving you because the food is that good. Some places you'd go back to because you know you're going to feel welcome, have a great time with your friends, and feel like family. Louie's is the latter. I'll be back.

I visited Friday night. Happy Hour = half liter of house wine for $5! Nice! Then I had Artichoke Chicken Fettucine. Very tasty, a rich cream sauce, garlicky but not overly do. Try their minestrone...the veggies are not cooked to death and it's very tasty. Service was good, food has good value. Louie's was packed so you know a lot of locals like it. Try it!

We visited on a Saturday but it wasn't very busy. Service was slow. Food was average but the portions were huge. My son said the pizza was good because it was "tasteless". We took home leftovers but it will probably be a while before we return 4/11/15 - The owner reached out concerned about the level of service and I appreciate the contact. I upgrade my review to 3 stars. We can certainly all have an off service. I ate all the leftovers and think I might have enjoyed them more than the original.

Haven't been to Louie's in a longtime. I went today for their Sunday brunch. There was a wide variety of different dishes. It would have been nice to have a sign in front of the buffet items that told you what was in them. Bacon was so crispy it broke when used the tongs to pick it up. They made fresh omelettes while you waited. Dessert station had lots of choices.

Imagine a train wreck that you can't stop looking at. We went here Father's Day evening and were surprised by the 25 minute wait which is pretty unusual but expected for Father's Day. We get seated and wait probably 8 minutes (literally) before our server even acknowledged us. In fact the hostess walked by our table and seemed horrified that we hadn't received drinks and actually apologized for the server which was nice but an apology isn't going to get the meal started. Fast forward a couple minutes and we have our drinks and food ordered at the same time-Plenty of time to look over the menu. I see and hear a lady get up and walk across the dining room to track down here server to ask for refills. That's embarrassing. A family gets up and leaves complaining about the '2 hour ordeal'. Another family walks out complaining about the price/quality ratio. Another family leaves without audible complaining. Before our food was delivered there were 4 tables that needed to be bussed. When we left there were the same 4 tables that needed to be bussed. The food wasn't bad but the Alfredo sauce definitely needed help-standing butter in the dish of fettuccini. The calzone was good. The service NEEDS HELP! On our previous visit the bread served looked like it was sat on it was so smashed and flat. The same visit we waited for what seemed like an eternity to get refills. My wife's salad came without nothing but lettuce and cheese and when we brought it to the waiters attention (probably 15 minutes after it was delivered because there was no check back) and she couldn't have cared less. Long story short, average food but terrible service. Management please spend some money, time or both training your staff. The service is what will keep us from coming back. You raised the prices pretty substantially and the service doesn't reflect the prices. Olive Garden and Luciano's are beating you in both service and quality. It's not too late to turn the ship around. Remember there are plenty of other Italian restaurants in the market-you don't have a captive audience.

Went with a group of 6. Service was horrible. Food very average at best. Ran out of water before we even got meal. Waitress came by and ask one person at the table if she needed more. Really empty glass and still did not have meal, what do you think. We asked for water for everyone came back with a couple pictures set them on table and left. When she brought food she handed plates across the table. We were sitting at a round table with plenty of room all the way around. I have had better Italian food at the spaghetti warehouse and there food was terrible. Not going back.

This much more pizzeria than Italian Restraunt. Service pretty bad, I would not not go out of my way to come here.

Sometimes even the best planning has a hole in it. On our way back from downtown Boise, our son got really cranky so we just had to find something near our hotel. That's how we ended up at Louie's. Service: 2/5 This was the first meal on our trip that got off on the wrong foot. As we walked in the door, there was no one at the hostess station. We stood there for a minute, then this lady who was sitting and eating in the bar area finally came over and asked us if we needed a table. Now I get that we all get breaks, I don't begrudge anyone that. But if you're going to take a munchie break "on the clock," do try and be a bit more attentive while you are doing so. Our waiter was not that impressive either. He was slow taking our order. He brought our pizza after bringing our main meals. It was generally not impressive service all around. At least we didn't have to wait for our check at the end. That's one of the things that irks me most when they drag their feet on bringing the check. Food: 3/5 Again, this was the first meal that really left me feeling unsatisfied. The salad seemed like one of those "straight out of the bag" deals. The pasta dish I ordered was very uninspired; bow tie pasta with grilled chicken and onions. My wife was happy with her chicken Marsala, and I did enjoy the pesto and sausage pizza that we ordered. It was serviceable food. Nothing was inedible or improperly prepared, but overall there wasn't anything about their food that impressed me at all. Overall Impressions: 3/5 The decor and atmosphere was actually the most impressive thing about the place. It looks and feels like a good Italian restaurant should. But frankly that will only raise your expectations a bit higher than they should be. My advice would be to stick to the pizza. It seems to be the only thing they do at anything above an average level. If you are really looking for Italian food in the Meridian/Boise area, I'm sure there have to be better places than this one. I can't really give it a good recommendation.

We enjoyed the ambiance and the food. The restaurant has a real Italian feel. We started off with the bruschetta. It was pleasantly different than some other bruschetta we have had. My husband had the eggplant parmesan. He said it was really good. The marina sauce has a hint of roasted pepper. I had the baked gnocchi which was very rich and delicious. Our server was Kenneth "Matt". He did a great job. We will definitely eat here again.

Just as great as I remembered. Steve "doesn't like pasta" but thought the lasagna was amazing. I loved the ambiance, the fountain and the food.

A very excellent place for Sunday Brunch. It seems to be a secret as it isn't very busy. Affordable Sunday Brunch buffet.

This place used to be so much better but has gone down hill. The service was so slow, it was almost like or serve forgot about us. Our good was not hot (and three ice cream was softened). And when did this place start using plastic dishes? The chicken parmesan was not breaded. At least they had done guy come sign happy birthday in Italian. He was pretty good.

We have been going to Louie's as a family for as long as I can remember, and their pizza is by far the best I have ever tasted, ever. When I moved away to Boston for five years, I would ALWAYS make a stop to Louie's on my visits home. My favorite pizza they have is the family style, with Italian sausage, pepperoni and mushrooms. The toppings are out of this world and I have yet to find any as tasty, and their sauce, crust and cheese are also excellent contributers to making this the best pizza around. I have seldom ventured away from the pizza for other dishes, but there has never been a reason to. Their pizza is that good! I would definitely recommend with highest regards!

I have no idea what you guys are talking about... I've been there a couple of times a year ago and both times the food was great! The first time we ordered a sun-dried tomato and basil pizza. Everyone thought it was amazing. Second time I'm not sure what we ordered, but we also got the dessert (a picture of which i posted here). I think whichever pasta we ordered was a little dry but besides that everything tasted good and dessert was delicious. We got a table in the outside seating area and the whole experience was really really nice. Maybe you just went there on a bad day. Every place has one of those.

Louie's is simple italian at a reasonable price, feels like a 3.5 star kind of place. We had the combination plates which got us two pastas, a pizza and salad for less than $12. Nothing mindblowing about the pasta, just good, solid food. The pizza was really good, with the sausage being the standout. Even though it's out in the sadness known as the eagle road area, we'll keep making the trek from Les Bois every few months.

I have not eaten here for dinner (I live across town and work in the area) so I hit up Louie's for lunch A LOT. As far as salad, pasta, and pizza bars go Louie's is the best in town. The salad bar is excellent, and includes any topping you could want along with fresh fruit. The pizza is also some of my favorite pizza in town. The price is around $6-7 which I have no problem paying. If you are looking for a solid lunch check out Louie's.

I've lived in Boise for more than 30 years. Louie's has always been around. They moved into Meridian about 10 years ago. I grew up in a large family so it was very seldom that we ate out. When we did we would go to Louie's for pizza. At the time, I thought it was terrific. Going back to Louie's after all these years I think my expectations were set way too high. In reality, this is Boise Italian food. The menu is based around bland average food. The portions are large but the taste is bland. If you want a pizza and exceeds the quality of Pizza Hut this is your place. If you're looking for fine Italian dining don't stop here.

Geez- where is the Louies love? I have to take issue with the other reviews here- the food is great. Louies is one of only two decent local italian places in the Boise area. The sausage, peperoni, olive and mushroom pizza is one of the best pizzas on earth, as far as I am concerned. The lasagna is as good as any I have ever had. The other stuff- fettucini, ravioli, etc, is pretty good, but not necessarily amazing. The only reason I am not rating Louies higher is the atmosphere. Dear lord is it bad- there are no booths, and the chairs could not be more uncomfortable. The dining room has an outdoors in Tuscany motif, complete with scenes painted on the walls. The tables are some kind of corian material that does not at all go with the "feel" of the old world Italy that the rest of the dining room is after. There is a pretty nice patio, but it sits on Fairview ave, right near Eagle road. It's the busiest intersection in the state of Idaho. Not very "tuscany" out there. The service is always good to great. The food is consistently good to great. The atmosphere not so much. If they woudln't have closed the downtown Boise location, they would have probably earned a five, in my book. Get the family style meal- great value, really good food. Just get it to go.

Oh wow. I'm still sick from eating here! The only reason I took the time to not only write a review, but also add the business is because this place actually is part of the restaurants listed on the highway (along with Carls Jr, Taco Bell, etc). It truly is the worst Italian/pizza I've had (if you don't count that thing they served as pizza during high school lunches). The lasagna was absolutely inedible. The pizza was greasy greasy greasy, which isn't so bad if it tasted decent. Which it didn't. For the first time since a high school cafeteria I couldn't eat a pepperoni pizza. I would rather have frozen over this stuff! The fettuccine was mediocre, there was a dish with mushroom, chicken, artichokes, and ravioli. We just ate the chicken, mushrooms, and artichokes and left the ravioli. If you go here PLEASE for your own health do not eat the salad bar. From walking by the pathetic thing I couldn't help but notice the strawberries were the lovely color of pale pink! I guess I may be being a bit harsh. The garlic bread was actually pretty good, and I'm glad for that or I would have starved!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
