Diabetics must resist their temptations when dining at Applebee's. Most of the items on Applebee's menu is either stuffed with sodium or sugar. You must be extra careful and pick low-sugar and low-sodium diet at Applebee's if you are diabetic.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for Diabetics:
If you are starting your meal with appetizers then make sure you skip the Classic Buffalo sauce, Honey BBQ sauce, and sweet Asian Chile sauce on your wings order. It is highly recommended to skip the appetizers if you are dining alone and instead build your appetizer keeping nutrition in check. Among the steaks, you must stay away from the Applebee's Riblets platter as well as Bourbon Street Steak at all costs. Shrimp 'N Parmesan Sirloin is also not recommended. Skip the sandwiches, wraps, and tacos as well. Desserts may be tempting but it is recommended to avoid them at Applebee's for their high sugar content. All the beverages except Iced Teas must be avoided as well to control your sugar intake.
Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure
Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. Avoid ordering foods that contain over 1000mg sodium at Applebee's, especially if you're dining alone.
Food Suggestions for High Blood Pressure at Applebee's
Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.
Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Cholesterol
If you have high cholesterol, then you must avoid eating sandwiches, wraps, and tacos at Applebee's. While the salads and soups sound healthy, you must skip the Fiesta Chopped Salad and Loaded Potato Soup at Applebee's. It is also advised to dodge the Three Cheese Chicken Penne and Chicken Fajita Rollup. Any main meal with over 100mg cholesterol is not idle for someone with high cholesterol. So, skip those items at Applebee's.
Food Suggestions to Maintain Cholesterol Level at Applebee's
My friend and I go here like 5-6 times a year. It's because it's close, and we like some options every once and awhile. The food here is good, but the service is AWFUL! Usually when you walk in, you have to wait for a host to come from the back and they never say good night or open the door to you when you leave. We have been seated at tables where they cleaned it up in front of us first, wiped the booth (so now it is wet) twice now! Even though there where a ton of empty tables around us, they put us at the dirty one! ALL the staff is slow. When we order appetizers, they come out with your main course, so apparently you need to ask them to bring it out early. We rarely get good service here. This place is rarely busy, so I don't know why everyone takes so long. The only reason we return is because the food is good, but sometimes the service is so bad that we don't come back for months. The Applebees in Nampa, by the Boise mall are way faster than this location.

Went here recently with my niece. My niece got a milkshake and I just got the nacho appetizers. I think applebees is probably my favorite of the "me too" family restaurants like chilis. The menus is pretty varied and they have a lot of unique recipes. But overall this is just another boxed restaurant.

Ate at Applebees last night and was not dissapointed since I did not expect much at all. The only reason we went there is because Sa-Waa-Dee closes at 8. I guess that is a plus to this chain restaurant, late hours, even on Sunday night. I Got a steak, and it was decent, the Perfect Margarita did not taste like it had too much alcohol in it. The Spinach Artichoke Appetizer was very bland with little to no taste at all. Two Great Stars for Applebees! :)

Had lunch at the eagle location today, and I was very pleased I had the riblets knowing that they are usualy pretty salty so i will skip them next time. How ever there appertizer sampler was awesome there sliders where excellent and the won ton tacos are the bomb. My wife had the club sandwich which she really enjoyed server was quick and attentive. Definitly want to go back and get some more of those sliders and wont ton tacos.

Our server was AWESOME! Especially since there wasn't near enough help. What manager scheduled one bartender and server on a Friday night. Took a half hour to get our drinks. Server went to the bartender several times to try and get them sooner to no avail she was just to busy. Food was excellent like the new recipes on some of the appetizers. This would have easily been a 4 star review had there been enough help.

Applebee's used to be pretty darn good, until Applebee's started to completely change their menu. Hence, I am greatly disappointed. Visiting from Tacoma, WA. I won't be eating at Applebee's for a while including the Tacoma locations.

Good customer service! The people here were helpful and genuinely nice. The food was horrible tho..it was dry and didn't have much taste. I would have liked a slightly bigger serving but for the price I paid (I shared the 2 for $25 with my hubbs).. I gave it 2 stars because I ordered thru the car side service and waited forever until I tried the door and found it locked. I walked around to the front where I was given my food which wouldn't have been bad except I had my 3 kids in the car and had to take all 3 in with me as there wasn't an adult in the car to watch them. All in all I wouldn't recommend this place

I generally don't eat at Applebee's because I don't enjoy their food. We recorded a gift card for Christmas this year and after a long day I running around decided it was worth a shot. It wasn't. Our server was a sweet lady who had just started. She didn't know much but tried hard. I know what it's like to staff something new and try hard, but she needs a lot more training. It took her three trips to the bar to tell me what beers were on tap. I ordered a beer and she talked me into the large one, not a hard sell because I like beer. Moments later I heard the table next to me order drinks and their server encouraged them to order two smaller ones as they were on special for happy hour. I wish I would have known. The beer was tasty, that was about it though. The food was not great, I could have easily done better clumsily stomping around my own kitchen. They goofed up my daughter's order and had to send it back (see attached photo of ugly Mac n cheese scraped from the bottom of the pan). My son's pizza bites from the kids menu was a hoagie bun with sauce and cheese melted on top. He'll eat anything that looks like pizza and didn't finish it. After a tip, a tab for $60 was not worth it at all. Go across the street and eat at Red Robin.

I thought to myself, "hmmm, a chain restaurant, can't be that bad." Boy oh boy was I wrong. I used the fancy IOS app and ordered some steak and shrimp dinner with a parmesan sauce all over it. I pulled up to the car hop area and a perky server helped. Arriving at home I dug in. One bite of the steak and I thought to myself, "Wow, that was a tough bit of steak." Bite number two and three yielded the same results. The shrimp and vegetable side was good. The entire steak was disgusting. I wonder if it was really even steak... but I digress. I will not be dining at this place ever again. Meridian would be better off to have this place close down if this is the food they are serving to everyone.

I was obligated to 1 star in order to post. About once a year we try this place again, just hoping we won't get disappointed/pissed again. The service has gotten even worse now that they have the presto servers on the table. They somehow figure they will only help you if you put on your call light. 5 employees standing around the bar including the manager, watching sports, while our light blinks asking for attention.. 6 tables in the place have customers. Red Robin across the street may have obnoxious birthday singers but it beats Applebee's hands down. Waiting in line at Texas Roadhouse is the same price as here and at least you get peanuts and attention from your server.

I did Carside To Go, ordered the Fiesta Chicken Salad & Tomato Basil soup. For 2nd time in a row ordered I got home and no chicken or dressing. Seriously! I called requested all funds to be refunded & I wouldn't be returning. Manager did refund money. Never again will I order Carside To Go.

Went in on 12/23 a Tuesday night. The service was sooooo bad! They have these new tablets to take your order and get refills but that's no excuse to stop giving service. Food took forever to get to our table and came out cold. You could tell it was sitting in the window for a while. Nobody came to check on us to see how our food was or clear dishes. We waited to see how long it would take for someone to come by but it was taking so long we had to give in and push the stupid tablet to call for service. When we said something about it the server was not very apologetic and the manager who was standing behind her while we were complaining didn't say a word to us. We will stick to the to go portion of this place cause the service sucks.

Stopped by Applebee's in Meridian, Idaho on Eagle Rd. early Monday evening as a party of five for dinner. We were led to our our table immediately by a very courteous hostess. My husband and three boys took their seats--I mentioned to the family to order me a water-- as I proceeded to head to and use the restroom. After returning to the table and glancing at menus. We deliberate about our dinner choices and wait for a waiter/waitress. We've now been there for over 10 minutes and not so much as a "hello" much less a drink order. At this point, my husband is pretty irritated. A man that looks like a manager whizzes by and my hubby gets out a quick, "How are you?" to get his attention. The man, in full speed towards the kitchen, responds, "I'm freaking FAN-tastic!" He exits the kitchen w/ a plate an a couple of other wait staff holding the same. We watch them pass by back into the kitchen...we try to catch someone's attention. By now, another 10 minutes have passed. Too little, too late. My husband had lost his patience and felt he would not allow our money to go towards poor service, or should I say, the lack of ANY service. Needless to say, my kids and I were disappointed ... it's been years since we've been to an Applebee's. The place wasn't even packed and happy hour was over! Thanks for nothing. Hopefully the one back home in Phoenix, AZ will NOT be like this one. This one is Deserving of ZERO stars.

It was exactly the same as every other Applebee's I have been to. When you travel in the USA, it seems they are the only place open between 9PM and midnight. It's corporate food but very consistent. The 7oz steak is a good value.

My wife and I have not been to Applebee's for a long long time. We quit going because of poor service and poor quality food. Well, the other day we decided to give them another try. Based on this visit, it will probably be a long long time before we go back. Our server was just plain bad. He was dressed poorly, had bad manors, and was not good it his job at all. Other wait staff had the personality of a Turnip. I had a burger. It was flat, and tasteless. The only thing on the burger that gave it any flavor at all were the pickles. And those were few and far in between. I would not recommend anyone waste their time at this place.

Food is good, portions are generous. Had a steak overdone, sent it back. Server was great about it, they reduced the meal to half price and manager checked in with us to see if things were taken care of to our satisfaction. They went beyond what we expected and that kind service will bring us back again.

About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.
