For the last year or so, would stop in for breakfast at least once per McCall visit and would stock up on fresh veggies/local beef and lamb on the way out of town. The service tends to be slow and confusing (to both the customer and employee) but the product is always good. My last time through, about a month ago, I handed the gal my debit card (as per usual) and was told that they don't take plastic. I asked how long this policy had been in place and was told ever since the owner's computer had problems, so she decided cash or check was the only accepted method of payment. Since I had a counter full of frozen lamb among other things and since it's not the 90's and I don't travel with my checkbook, my wife and I scrambled through wallets, pockets and the car ashtray to come up with $45 and change. Alpine, if you had an amazing product that could be found nowhere else in town, I could see pre-planning my visit by hitting an ATM. But, that just isn't the case. Don't make it difficult for the patrons to support you.

I really cannot figure out how on earth this place could possibly have such bad ratings. We came here last weekend for the winter carnival, and before even coming to town I found this place after searching organic restaurants. We came here twice in less than 24 hours. Once for lunch, then the next day for breakfast, coffee, and a couple of groceries. The food was incredible, priced right for the quality and taste, and my iced mocha was so good I had to get a second for the road. We also had fantastic service both times from people who clearly love their job. We loved the options of local and hard to find options on the grocery side. Like raw butter! We have been looking all over Boise and have yet to find any. If you are into eating local, organic, and delicious food topped with great service, this is your place! Oh, and we payed with our debit card both times, so apparently that's no longer an issue!

This is my favorite place in McCall. I could spend all day here. They have delicious and moderately priced breakfast options and can make an amazing mocha. Every day there is a lunch special which usually runs around $10. Then, as the shadows get longer it's my cue for a beer. They usually have three on tap. All this while gazing out at Payette Lake and sitting up high on a stool in front of their long window or soaking up the sun outside on a picnic bench. The place also has free wi-fi so I can get a lot done with superb ambiance. When it's time to head home, I step back into their market section and pick up some local organic produce. I hope they get Purple Sage produce back - I loved their stuff. Their stuff is a little pricey but that's because they're ingredients are. If you want to eat something fresh, healthy, and tasty then expect to pay around $10 for an entree.

While the service, coffee, and grocery selections were fine, the food was not. Salt and I are old and dear friends, but the gravy here was almost inedible. It was also studded with huge, barely cooked chunks of onion, which, in retrospect, may have been dehydrated and insufficiently reconstituted. Like salt, I am also good friends with onion, but not this good of friends. In short, the atrocious gravy ruined two delightfully crumbly cathead biscuits.

I stop in here every time I drive through McCall for coffee...which is excellent and dried fruits. It's a really nice spot, everyone is really nice, accept the thicker older lady with the armband tattoo. I don't know why she seems pissed off every time. But when I say good morning or have a good day and I'm ignored it really makes me not want to stop here.

We will not be returning. We paid $30 for breakfast for two and what did this $30 get us? The privilege of being helped by pretentious employees and busing our own table. We thought that since the food was organic maybe it would be worth the marked up price, but boy were we wrong! First of all it took us close to 30 minutes to get our food.... I got a $9 waffle that was undercooked and when the menu says "topped with fresh fruit" they mean topped with A PIECE of fruit.... ONE thinly cut strawberry. Then when i asked if that was all the fruit that came with the waffle the server looked at me awkwardly said yes and walked away. The organic potatos were stale, not worth $4. The fruit bowel my husband got with his Eggs Benedict was lacking and tasted like it had been sitting out cut up for too long. The $12 eggs benedict was bland, had hardly any ham, it basicly was an english muffin with hollandaise sauce and an egg. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Maybe the pantry is goid for organic groceries, but from my experience I wish it were Ken's Grocier again.

This place is SLOWWWWWWWWWWW as hell. Food is ok. Coffee drinks and smoothie were decent. I wouldn't go here If you want to get In n out. Staff was friendly. Ranchero was meh.

We're giving alpine pantry another chance. Surprisingly delicious biscuits and gravy a huge plate of French toast...with 2 endless cups of coffee under $25 and fast delivery. Keep it up AP

Not much to say here except the following. Molasses slow service, smug high school girl that takes the order, unorganized, food is mediocre and over priced. I would definitely not be intrigued by "fresh organic breakfast and lunch" and head on down to the pancake house. At least there you can feed 4 for the price of 1 here and much better food. That's all.

I've had good luck with this restaurant in the past until today.... I paid more than $12 for a salad with rotten greens and a sandwich laced with several hairs. Beyond disgusting!

Stopped in here to pick up a couple grocery items. Was not greeted when I walked in and stood at the cash register in plain view of the cook for close to five minutes and was never helped! Sorely disappointed!

My friends and I paid $12 each for bland food we could have made at home. The woman taking our order (short brown hair) acted like our presence was the most inconvienent possible thing. It took them twenty minutes to toast a sandwich we had previously asked to be toasted. Added bonus: they wanted us to bus our own tables. I have never been so disappointed and angry with customer service AND food quality at the same time. Will never return, will never recommend.

Can I give zero stars? This place looks nice. It is clean. The compliments end there. The staff treat you like you're an absolute annoyance. I am aware that this is NOT a fast food joint. I came anticipating a fair wait. It took 35.5 minutes of waiting at the table for the food--I timed it on my phone. Annoying habit I have once food takes more than 15 minutes. This was after standing in a line of 2 other patrons for 7+ minutes. After 20 minutes of waiting, I asked if our order got put in, to which the eye-rolling staff informed me that our order was just about to be cooked. Apparently coming at the end of breakfast is a pain for them. Upon our food's arrival, a chef wielding a noticeable glazed-look of indifference dropped off our food without so much of "hello," "here ya go," or "sorry about the wait." Our order that took 35 minutes to cook? Oatmeal, eggs, and potato. Ignoring the time stolen from my life that I'll never get back, the food was boring, bland, and unoriginal. Though the Alpine Market had already shot themselves in the foot, so I was probably doomed to dislike this meal from the start. Perhaps this flavorless dish would be well appreciated at under 15 minutes of waiting and something under the $17 I paid. If you have a lot of free time and possess the bland palette of my Norwegian mother, you'll love this place.

The food wasn't blow-your-mind good but it is also clean eating -so, what can one expect? I probably could make the same meal in my own kitchen. If you are feeling lazy in the morning and want a home-cooked meal, I recommend going somewhere else.

I'm happy to have found this spot. They have a great selection of foods and there breakfast was excellent! The staff was nice as well.

Very Seattle U-District feel to the place, but it has a very professional and friendly staff. My wife says it reminds her of the bait shops on Long Beach Island where she grew up in New Jersey. Warm, blender pureed mild salsa was different than the 'store bought' variety, and not spicy but also needs cilantro. My daughter had the biscuits and gravy, but said it was begging for Dungeness crab. You can't beat the view of the lake! It is part cafe, part market and all cool without being hipster.

I recently went to McCall, Idaho for my anniversary and was planning a kayaking trip as a surprise for my husband. I got in touch with Alpine Pantry (and I think a new owner) who put together a picnic basket for me to take on our adventure. I have only recently starting trying to eat gluten-free and so I don't have alot to compare food to, but it we got the turkey sandwiches and it was pretty good. My husband liked it too. I am very used to traditional "rich" food, so it was weird having potato salad that was gluten free, but it also showed me that maybe eating this way won't be so bad because it was pretty good anyway. The communication with the store and everything they did to help me surprise my husband was just fantastic. They were really kind and very easy to work with. AND I PAID WITH A CREDIT CARD!

I have been calling McCall my second home my entire life and like to support local businesses but this one is making it difficult to do so. My first experience was great, the next two not so much. Some friends and I came one night to have dinner and they were closed before posted hours. We knocked on the door and were ignored by the staff (we could see) inside. Also, recently I went to get a gluten free sandwich - being gluten intolerant, a good sandwich is hard to come by - and when I handed the cashier my credit card was informed that they no longer accepted credit cards, only cash or check. It's 2013, who doesn't take credit card? I have gone to farmers markets where merchants accept credit card. I unfortunately had to cancel my order. It would be appreciated if this was AT THE LEAST posted at the register and changed on online listings such as Yelp. PROS: Gluten Free Friendly Local Cons: Pricey Slow Service Inconsistent Hours DOESN'T ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS

Alpine Pantry is a decent place to grab some breakfast while enjoying the sites of McCall. Who doesn't love to eat a hearty meal while looking out at the gorgeous views of the lake. The prices were reasonable and the coffee was actually pretty decent. While I am not versed in all of the breakfast/brunch places in McCall, I thought that it was a decent find and am happy to have discovered it!

Great healthy place! Being a gluten free vegetarian in Idaho ain't easy ;) This place (which is a market and counter-service restaurant) has delicious organic food. I ordered the breakfast panini on gluten free bread. Yum! One star off because the bread wasn't grilled, even though the sandwich was delish. Service was super friendly and quick! Outside patio is awesome!

Lunch is good. Service is a little slow and its quite pricy. Breakfast is plain and very expensive. Won't bring back the family, it just costs too much.

I've wanted to try Alpine Pantry for so long and finally did for lunch today with my two teenage sons. And I wanted to like it. They have a nice selection of cheese and Olympic Provision salami charcuterie, plus other goods not found elsewhere in McCall. Worth a visit for that alone! But the staff isn't very friendly or welcoming. And they were out of potato salad and soup, though it was only 1pm. Two salads and a sandwich took about 35 minutes, even though I only saw two single-item orders come out before us. Our order came out in two stages a few minutes apart. My beet and citrus salad cost $12 and didn't come dressed, not even with dressing on the side; I had to ask for some chili lime, and it didn't have any flavor. The ingredients were fresh and tasty, though sparse. I thought my son's Ceasar salad had an odd taste, maybe balsamic vinegar? But he liked it, so I guess that's down to individual preference. One of my sons ordered a Reuben and loved it, but I don't like them so didn't taste. Bottom line, the setting is lovely, groceries are worth a visit, but for the service, consistency, and price I'll stick with Fogglifter and Staceycakes.

Not only the best coffee in town, but delicious and healthy entrees. Honest sincere service. Relaxed atmosphere. unpretentious. Supports the local industries in a classy way. Truly a Class act. I will go back over and over. A memorable beautiful view to boot! Worth twice the price.

This is an amazing gem on the outskirts of McCall. The "store" is stocked with organic grocery basics and some unique finds but the food is really their shining star. Almost everything on the menu has a gluten free option and there are many options for vegetarians and carnivores alike. You can order from the breakfast or lunch menu any time and the food is amazing. I had a gluten free waffle with fresh organic fruit on it and it was the best I had ever had. It was infused with orange and vanilla and needed no syrup. We ate here two days in a row because it was so fabulous and healthy. This is the exactly the type of business we want to support-local, organic, small, sustainable, and with reasonable prices. They had several tables out front for patio diners as well as generous indoor seating. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Coffee was great, food was very good and as I would judge it, there was decent value at this stop on our journey. Great views and decent service. I would stop there again. As I said in my Facebook post, the place is very hippy chic!

Boo! Not impressed at all. It would have potential to be great if the staff was faster, and the food was better. So good luck with that. Our food came out so late...Also my friend that ordered her food right after me didn't get hers until 30 minutes after mine came. The gal at the front counter said they we so busy, but they seriously had maybe 5 tables. Not a good excuse. My bacon was hard as a rock, and my chai was awwwwwwful. It had some sort of un pleasant sour taste to it.

Extremely slow service. For 2 adults and 2 kids to eat it cost us $74.00 to eat breakfast, i dont think i have ever paid that much for the 4 of us to eat and i dont think i wiould do it again here. Food was pretty good nothing special.

Some of the most clueless, indifferent staff I've ever encountered. I was there three times within a week because it was close to where I was staying. It was worth the drive to town for better places.
