India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.

My favorite place in Idaho Falls probably. I'm used to REALLLLY good Indian food in California though. The food isn't as good as Indian food is in California BUT it gets five stars just because it's freaking awesome that Idaho Falls even has an Indian place. My recommendations are (sorry about spelling in advance): --Bhegan Bharta: my favorite dish at every Indian restaurant. I like how theirs is slightly sweeter than I'm used to. --Sag Aloo: I DONT like how they puree the spinach AT ALL. It makes me feel like I'm eating baby food almost. But the flavor is still good, and anything with Sag in the name is usually good! FYI, they make their own cheese for the Sag Paneer which is always cool. I just don't like paneer as much. --Shrimp Tikka Masala: Anything that has tikka masala is going to be yummy. In my opinion it's one of the best sauces. --The sweet naan! Or the naan with potato in it. MMM I'd skip the desserts, they need work.

You would think that it's a little pretentious to use the word "favorite" to describe your restaurant, but Favorite Indian Restaurant has every right to. I've been frequenting this place for a few months, and it's never disappointed. It's got a huge menu with every Indian dish you could ever wish for, great service, lunch special options, and Indian food so yummy that you'll be calling it your favorite too. My favorite is the classic chicken tikka masala and chicken sagwala. Both are stupendous, and come with huge servings of rice. Garlic naan is also a must for me, and they make their naan just right. The staff is always friendly, and I've never had a negative experience with the service here. If you order for pick-up, it'll probably take around 15-20 minutes for them to make your order. So fast! I have yet to discover an Indian restaurant to surpass Favorite Indian Restaurant. Until then... you seriously are my favorite. I heart you.

The worst Indian food i have had in North America!. Now, i had a low expectation to being with since its Idaho falls but it turned out to be one of the worst experiences!. The vegetables were tasteless and felt like it was cooked couple days ago and reheated several times. The rice was super hard and had several layers from reheating it multiple times. The thali didn't even have Dal and was tasteless. I am quite frankly surprised at the number of good reviews it has. The restroom door knob was removed, due to which there was a hole. When asked, the restaurant manager pretended as if its not a big deal and said go ahead and use it as is!..

Pretty good lunch special: a pakora, a plate of rice, a choice of 2 entrees(vindaloo and masala are good), naan, and a choice of dessert. Would have preferred a buffet. Also wished they had a tamarind curry for my naan. But overall pretty good for $10.

I'll start off with saying that this was my first time eating Indian food and I was pretty excited to try this place out. The food was fantastic! Who knew that flat bread could taste so damn good! Food 4.5/5 I have nothing to compare this Indian food too, but I can compare it to how food should taste... and it tasted DELICIOUS Started with the sampler: An assortment of Vegetable Samosa, Onion Bhaji, Chicken Pakora and Vegetable Pakora). They were all good, some better than others, but this got us into the spirit of Indian food. Chicken Tikka Masala: This is apparently the "rookie" thing to order, good thing I was a rookie because it was delcious. Great flavor, I ordered mine spicy. I'll probably try VERY spicy next time because the spicy wasn't too spicy for me. It comes in a creamy almost tomato-y sauce. It's really good, order it.... rookie. Butter Chicken: This one was also in a creamy sauce. It was good, but not as good as the Masala. NAAN: GOOD LORD, if I wasn't watching my carbs I would eat NAAN everyday. The Indian culture is a wise culture, sopping up the sauce from both our chicken dishes with naan was INCREDIBLE! This was the highlight of the night. We had both plain naan and sweet naan, both were out of this world. You wouldn't think flat bread could taste so good or pair so well with a sauce, but you're wrong... you're dead wrong, plead to Shiva for forgiveness for your erroneous thoughts! Service: 4/5 Our server was very nice and helped guide me through the adventure of trying Indian food for the first time. Our drinks did run dry a couple times, but other than that she was great. IN CONCLUSION: If you are sitting on the fence, I'll gladly push you and I'll push you right off that fence as long as you fall into this restaurant. Haters gonna hate, anyone who leaves a bad review about this place has no taste buds or has less than 10 reviews on yelp and therefore cannot truly be trusted.

Fantastic food! The space is great, although I've never been to India or any sort of cultural area it feels like it fits. The service is a little on the difficult side but they all know exactly what there talking about when it come to food knowledge. If you like exploring food in I.F. Tandoori Oven is a must.
(4)Calvin D.
Very good! The naan portions are smaller than we were expecting. Quick service and an intimate atmosphere.
(5)Jayde D.
Yum! I live in Rexburg and crave this place all the time. They have the best tikka masala!

I was surprised to find an Indian restaurant in Idaho Falls. Having been on a cross country road trip for a few days, I was getting veggie burgered out and the idea of Indian food very appealing. Usually because I make really good Indian food, we almost never eat Indian food outside our home. I am glad I made an exception. The food was good. I ordered saag paneer, vegetable curry with coconut sauce, and raita to go. Even my carnivorous husband liked the vegetable curry. I was happy to get some comfort food. I would,d have been even happier if they had yellow dal on the menu and packed some pickles with my meal.

Alright!! This review comes from an Indian who is a foodie & a home chef. Me & my wife live in Pocatello, ID & we drove 50 miles with some work & definitely made plans to eat out from the only Indian restaurant around 150 miles. 1st impression - Disappointed. We ordered the Chicken Tandoori for starters & 2 portions of Naan (flat bread), Mutton Rogan Josh & Lamb Biryani for Main course. I asked the waiter to make it extra spicy assuming the spice levels would be in line with the American crowd. 1. The Chicken Tandoori - because that is my favorite item & I since my childhood I would have eaten like more than a thousand times I know how a perfectly cooked Tandoori tastes like, but this was not up to the mark. It was OK. Advice to the chef - Instead of sizzling the onions with bell peppers & whatever sauce you used, try raw onions mixed with a little red chilli pepper, lime juice, cilantro & chat masala. 2. Naan (flat bread) - It was good. No comments 3. Mutton Rogan Josh - Here started the miserable journey. This curry was bad, it was no where near to Mutton Rogan Josh. Because I asked it to be made extra spicy, the chef added Habanero chillies into it. I asked it to be made spicy, not hot. The Habanero chillies not only changed the flavor to hot, but the weird taste of something sweet & then it turns hot a few seconds later. Also, the smell from Habanero dominated the entire curry. The spicy flavor comes with adding stuff like serrano peppers, red chili pepper powder, a little extra onions, ginger garlic paste & other spices they add, not by merely adding habanero chillis. 4. Lamb Biryani - This was pathetic. This looked more a like some Asian sticky rice with the same Habanero gravy/curry mixed, no where close to Biryani. The chef must have thought a brilliant idea of using the same gravy used for the Mutton Rogan Josh, bad idea. The plain white rice offered was tasting better than the Biryani. Overall, Tandoori Oven disappointed me with the hype it had. It may be a different taste & try out for the American crowd, but for an Indian who fortunately knows more about food it wasn't. Hopefully, they will take this constructive criticism & work on their taste. Yeah, the rates are not worth the quantities for Mutton curry & Biryani.

Have nothing but good things to say. Tried to go there a couple times but there was a 45+ minute wait... finally got in the other weekend and really enjoyed the food. I really enjoy Indian food and theirs was GREAT! Had the cicken tumuru or something like that... WOW! The appetizer was great also. Really enjoyed the atomoshphere. If I had any recommendation at all, it would be to turn down the lights to be a little darker in there. Big fan of nice restaurants like that, with a dim lit dining area. Would highly recommend to others. So nice to see Idaho Falls has an Indian food place, that is incredible!

YAY!! We FINALLY got an Indian restaraunt in Idaho Falls!! The SO and I went on Sunday, the weekend they opened, and there was a line out the door! We'd been waiting for this place to open for a few weeks, because the only Indian food we'd ever had was what we'd cooked for ourselves. There was QUITE a wait to get in, and a long wait for our food, but it was well worth it. The waitstaff and owner were all working as quickly as they could, all the while smiling and offering drink suggestions. We ordered the Butter Chicken (I think my recipe is better, but I'm sure everyone makes it differently) and the Chicken Vindaloo (because we're HUGE Red Dwarf fans, and it's really difficult to find all of the ingredients locally, and we'd always wanted to try it). The food was nothing short of fantastic! We can't wait to go back!

Walking in, the fresh smell of true spice of Indian food, yet not overpowered with curry was wonderful! For a small restaurant the deco was nice and inviting of the expected theme of the cuisine. The aroma of the air was a hint to the wonderful food. Enjoy, our group of 3 sure did.
(5)Darby S.
Good food and the lunch choices included a nice variety. The service was good as well. I enjoyed the meal but it's not my favorite place in town, but still good food.
(3)Christine L.
This a fantastic Resturant. The service is good, the location easy to get to and the food...AMAZING! Just remember that Indian spices are naturally hotter than the normal American pallet can handle. If you get in over your head, try the lassi it'll quench the fire.
(4)Dan L.
My wife and I went again but for lunch this time. We got there before 2 but we're already getting the stink eye and a rushed feeling. An older group of 4 were seated at 2:15 and the waiter greeted them by saying "we close in 15 minutes so you'd better order and eat fast" very disappointed. On our way out there were no less than 4 people that were trying to come in and were turned away. It's CRAZY that they close for 2 hours in the middle of the day on a Saturday!! I have removed 2 stars for the 2 hours they are closed for. I don't know of any place that does this. Seriously?!
(3)Diane B.
Great Indian food... Especially liked the chicken tikka Marsala. Service was good as was the beer selection. We will definitely be back. The restaurant is conveniently located to several hotels and does have take out
(5)Nathan M.
I will be honest that I haven't had much Indian food before but a good friend of mine that lived in India for two years said that this is the closest thing that he has had to quality Indian food that he has had since he left. My wife and I decided to give it a try. I wish I was an Indian this food is so yummy! Atmosphere is really nice, a little pricey but not bad. If you haven't had Indian food or have had lots this is a place to try!
(5)Daniel S.
This is it. The real deal. An Indian restaurant in Idaho Falls? From the moment you walk through the door the all to familiar aroma is memorizing. Everything we tried on or first visit was excellent with the exception of the Garlic Naan. We had really missed Indian food since moving from California late ast year. We thought 'Indian food in Idaho Falls? Really how good can it be? We had prepared ourselves for a disappointment, but left with the lasting flavor in our mouths and very satisfied with our decision to give it a try. Chicken Tikka Masala was great with a killer sauce. You have to try the Saag. The only disappointment was the Garlic Naan. The bread itself is some of the best I've had, but usually cilantro and garlic are basted on the bread. Instead they use garlic salt.
(5)Kim W.
Okay, so I have to say, I LOVE this place! I don't eat out much, and when I do I want it to be AMAZING. This place more than delivers, very impressive. I have never enjoyed any lamb previous to this. They have mild, medium, spicy and very spicy choices for all their meals; which are generous, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. I thought I hated Indian cuisine but this was nothing short of delectable. So sad when I realized my food was gone and I had no room for dessert! But believe me, we will be back! Perfect service, we had 2 avid dehydrator in my group and still never saw the bottom of the glass!
(5)Shayna H.
Love Tandoori Oven. The wait staff is great, we have our favorite waiter there :) I don't know his name but he's awesome! The service is fairly fast, even when they're busy. Chicken Tikka Masala is the bessssssst! You can choose your own heat level, I stick to 2. Garlic naan is the way to go, but the plain one is also delish. Coconut Kurma is good, too.
(5)Caryn M.
My first time trying Indian food and its just not for me. Wasn't very good and we got what the waiter suggested. The cheese bread was good but that was it. But like I said my first time so apparently I don't care for Indian food won't be eating it again.
(2)Neill J.
To be honest I've had better Indian food, but for Idaho falls it's pretty decent and pretty good, I'll definitely be back.
(4)Randy W.
We paid a visit the first week to see what Indian food in Idaho Falls would taste like. No disappointments here. My bellwether (your vocabulary word for the day) dish for an Indian restaurant is chicken vindaloo, and Tandoori Oven does it wonderfully. I also appreciate that they don't hold back when I ask for my vindaloo "extra spicy". In some places I imagine the waiter goes back to the kitchen with the order and says, "Some white guy thinks he wants extra spicy. Better tone it down, we don't want a death on our hands." Their naan is crispy and buttery, and the samosas are full of flavor. Namaste.
(5)Rick S.
This place is great! I love menu. Everything is under $16.00 with an average of $11.00-ish for the meals. Great food! Tasted great. The atmosphere is nice, clean, and simple. It's refreshing.
(5)Nick J.
I'm in love with this place!! Garlic naan with some chicken tiki Masala! Fav meal ever.. JAY and his staffs are very friendly
(5)Michelle W.
Excellent food and service. Definitely planning a return visit. Family style service was a great way to try multiple dishes. Healthy sized portions made for wonderful treats the next evening which were even tastier as the spiciness had really set in. It was a real pleasure to discover this eatery and some longed for dining diversity in Idaho Falls.
(5)Larry M.
Had the Lamb Curry and Rogan Josh with ginger garlic naan and basmatti. All were excellent. The spice level was not as hot as I wanted but the spicy sauce served on the side fixed that. Looking forward to a return visit. Our server was helpful and efficient.
(4)Nolan H.
Considering its in Idaho Falls I was presently surprised. Food could use a bit more spice but overall it was good. Environment was nice. As a transplant from Utah I'll be back for an enjoyable evening. If go again!
(4)Eric L.
Had the Thursday lunch special. This is a good deal. You get a choice of small entrees with rice, nan and a small dessert for $10. I chose chicken curry and vegetable curry. My wife ordered lamb saag from the regular menu. The Good: Lamb saag and chicken curry were very good. Spice and flavor were authentic and tasty. The Not-So-Good: Vegetable curry. This appears to be made with a bag of frozen peas & carrots. My wife is Thai and I understand that it's hard to find Asian vegetables in Idaho. However, while I have never been to India, I am certain that they make this differently in Dehli... Vegetable curry aside, the food was good and I will be back.
(4)Kim H.
It's so nice to have a GOOD Indian restaurant in Idaho Falls! Everything that we've had has been excellent and we'll be back for sure!
(5)Tim J.
I was pretty excited when Idaho Falls finally got an Indian Restaurant. We finally got around to eating here on a late Friday afternoon. The place was already pretty full, and most of the customers were Indian. Prices seemed a bit high. Customer service was not the friendliest, and in fact at times seemed unfriendly. But the biggest disappointment was the food. It was okay. Not nearly as good as what we've had at other Indian restaurants. Not bad food, but the flavors didn't impress, the servings were small for the price, and the entrees were nothing to write home about. We'll continue to eat out at Indian restaurants when we travel, instead of coming here again. If you're hungry for Indian food in Idaho Falls, this is your only restaurant option, and it's not bad food. But we'll continue to eat out at Indian restaurants when we travel, instead of coming here again.

My first visit to the restaurant with my daughter was yesterday Friday 1-30-14. We ordered at 2pm to go and Jay took our order. My daughter ordered from the lunch menu and enjoyed her two chicken dishes. I ordered my favorite dish lamb vindaloo and found the flavor very nice but the lamb tough and over cooked. As this was not a lunch item and we ordered near closing(2:30) I suspect the dish was hastely assembled and served. Too bad, I wont be back.
(1)Julia T.
We LOVE this place! Never had a bad meal or bad service! My favorite is Vegetable Kurma, my husband's is Butter Chicken, my son's Shrimp Saag and daughter-in-law's Chicken Tikka! Yummy!
(5)Daniel R.
Tandoori Oven is the only Indian Restaurant in Idaho Falls and does NOT disappoint. My favorite dish is the Lamb Tikka Marsala. The lamb is tender and flavorful. The sauce is delicious as well and goes great with the garlic naan. I recommend avoiding the cheese naan, instead go for garlic naan. When fresh their naan is excellent. The staff is very friendly and will gladly elaborate on menu items if you are unfamiliar with the dishes. The to-go ordering was rough when they first opened but they have steadily improved their estimated wait time accuracy and are providing hotter, fresher food to-go. Way to go Tandoori Oven. You are certainly one of the top ethnic food options in the area.
(5)Miles M.
I've been waiting so long for an Indian restaurant to come to Idaho Falls and they did not disappoint. Food was very flavorful. Staff was very friendly. Read some reviews that talked about horrible service on Google. Keep in mind it's a new restaurant with all new staff so they are working the bugs out. They were very helpful and if they couldn't answer a question they would get a cook to answer the questions. Spice level was a little off from most Indian restaurants I've been too. I got medium and it didn't have any heat to it. Ordered some of the hot sauce they use and mixed it in to kick it up a notch. So I recommend going up a spice level from what you think you'll want or order some on the side.
(5)Lyn M.
On my trip to Idaho Falls last week I thought of stopping here with my family to have a try. I love Indian cuisine and tried many different restaurants and from the look of it seems like Tandoori is the only Indian restaurant in Idaho Falls. My experience here was okay the service was friendly, nice atmosphere other then that I found the food very bland, they need to put more flavor in there dishes. I ordered my dish Medium in spicy turned out to be very mild. The rice quality wasn't great a bit over cooked. It was nice to give it a try but I won't be returning anytime.
(2)Tom S.
Excellent food!! We came for Saturday lunch, tried several different things. The chicken curry was great!! Butter chicken was sweet and delicious. We didn't know anything about Indian food but we are now huge fans!!! The staff was helpful in picking out choices for us and making sure we were happy with what we received. If you haven't tried it, do!!!
(5)Rob S.
Fantastic Indian Food! I have eaten there 4 times in the past month, every meal was delicious. I eat very spicy and their rating of "very spicy" is a little light by my tastes but still spicy and delicious. The food is as good as any Indian I have tasted. The various breads are fantastic as well. I am very pleased and highly recommend trying them out, even if you are not familiar with Indian food.
(5)Scott W.
I think the waiter forgot to put in our order. The food was good. I probably won't be back.
(2)Rachael C.
I've been here twice now, and loved everything we've ordered. It's family style, so you get to try everything ordered at your table. The lamb is flavorful and tender, and the chicken is great. The coconut kurma is definite my favorite.
(5)Matt N.
I was having to drive down to Logan Utah to enjoy this place.. Wicked happy that they came to Idaho Falls! I highly recommend the tika masala!!
(5)C C.
Horrible Horrible service. Don't waist your time....the food isn't worth the wait or poor service.
(1)J B.
Went twice in 1 week! So good! Have tried many entrees and sides and they were all delish! Yum!
(5)Brittany S.
We live about an hour and a half away and love that Idaho Falls has an Indian restaurant (we used to live in a city with dozens), and eat here each time we come to IF for errands. The only downside - discovered today - is that they aren't open on Sundays. We should have checked the hours online before arriving with eager & empty stomachs. But if you're reading this review Monday - Saturday, you're in luck and should definitely have lunch or dinner here!
(4)Tad H.
We went late on a Saturday afternoon. Since it was the busy part of the day we were told we would have a 45 minute wait. It turned out to only be a 20 minute wait. We were seated quickly and given our menus. The order came quickly for such a busy restaurant, the help was friendly, and when the food came it was great. The staff still seems to be trying to get a handle on working in a super busy restaurant but on the whole things went quite well. One note to myself for future visits, I ordered my dish with a spice level of HOT and thought I would need skin grafts. It was only the first bite to surprise me, and I finished (and loved) every bite. The flavor of the dish was great. On future visits I would order everything at the MEDIUM spice level. I would definitely go back and everyone else that was with me would also. On the whole it was a fantastic meal experience.
(5)Gage P.
A must try restaurant. This is my far the best food you can get in Idaho falls. The coconut korma in any form is to die for. You also have to get naan bread. The only reason not to go is if you hate ascentic delicious Indian food. Or you can handle hot at all.
(5)Katy H.
Excellent food. Excellent service. A bunch of my friends and I went for dinner and all ordered different menu items and shared. Everything was delicious. The rice pudding was delicious as well. My friends have gone multiple times and love it every time. Will be back...probably multiple times as well.
(5)Lisa R.
This restaurant just opened to the public last Thursday (7/17/2014) and is the only Indian restaurant in town. I ordered the staple dish of Chicken Tikka Masala. While the chicken was very slightly overcooked, the flavors were spectacular. I will come back again the next time I am in Idaho Falls.
