It's a good place. Came here yesterday for lunch and it was pretty empty. Got to witness 3 birthdays so servers sang happy birthday in english and spanish! :D Our server was new and can clearly tell but she was sweet and tried to do her best. The food was good. Not the best mexican I've had. Worth a shot to visit. Their margaritas were not as strong as i like them to be, a bit watered down. I did have steak burritos and the steak was yummy! but $3 extra for steak...really?

We've been coming here for probably 15 years and never had a bad experience. Service is timely, food is consistently delicious, and my favorite part, the staff is always so friendly! Best Mexican food in town for sure!

Stopped in while in town for the weekend and had some dinner. Our group had the carnitas, fajitas , chile verde and bean and cheese burrito. Everything was good but nothing really jumped out as a show stopper. If I went back I would get the chicken fajitas or carnitas. Oh yeah the margaritas were delicious. The presidente and the Jaliscos marg were good. Enjoy !!!

I suppose it's possible that my time in the southwest has given my taste buds hope in regards to authentic Mexican food, but this place was just a bland let down on almost all fronts. I was optimistic with the rating, but I suppose I was just hoping for a less Americanized Mexican joint - but to no avail. The service was friendly and quick, but I can't recommend it and will not be returning.

The food is pretty decent, and the portions are huge. Though, I don't really like their refried beans; they're under seasoned, bland, and runny. Their decor is also dated and shabby, and rather dusty.

Me and my husband love this place. We were going to a Mexican restaurant in town and we kept givening them chances it didn't work. We found this gem. The stake is absolutely mouth watering. Being from the south I have high expectations of Mexican too now there are something's I do not agree with on how they make it but over all this place is great and friendly service.

Came here just to satisfy the our Mexican fix without knowing much about the background of the restaurant. Upon entering the place, we were amazed by the amount of medals/awards donning around the front desk area, and there's a reason for that because the food is awesome. The camarones mexicanos I had wasn't just regular shrimp but PRAWN and they are huge and juicy. I also loved how it wasn't cooked too salty and oily like many other Mexican place. It was really good and huge portion as usual. The server we had was very friendly too. Will come back here again the next time I visit IF.

This is GOOOOD Mexican food!! I really can't say anymore than that. I'm not sure what they do to make the ice tea, but I find myself craving it. This will be our go-to place to eat the next time we travel through Idaho Falls. The bean dip with the chips was excellent. I can't remember what I had for my main course but it was excellent as well.

Recently my wife and I traveled through IDaho on our way to Yellowstone, stopping overnight at Idaho Falls. Being from Southern California, I didn't expect Mexican food that was better than what I am used to at home. Truth be told, I can't remember the last time I've had better Mexican food. We were given chips and salsa that also came with a cup of refied beans. It was nice touch - the salsa was good and the beans were very flavorful. The menu is extensive. I ordered the chicken mole and my wife ordered cheese enchiladas. The chicken mole was outstanding. The sauce was thick and sweet and none of the chicken or vegetables were overcooked. It came with the right amount of tortillas, too. My wife was very surprised at thte quality of the food as well. She really enjoyed her enchiladas. If we had stayed in Idaho Falls longer, we would have eaten at Jalisco's again.

If you're in the Idaho Falls area, Jalisco's is the place to go. We've always gone to the one located on 17th street and have always had great food and awesome service. Everything that we've had has been great and my kids love that they get beans with their chips and salsa. They also have a nice menu selection with lots to choose from!

Not sure how a place like this get high on the charts for best restaurant on yelp. Its your typical Mexican flair. Nothing special. I have never had anything truly good here. Its all ok. I have had plates that were not good. I have never felt like I had a truly great meal whenever I left this place. Both locations are the same, so if you want to fill your belly but don't really care about taste I guess this place will suffice. I'm being nice not giving it two stars.

The chips and salsa are ok but not great. The service was very good. The establishment was very busy which means it has a faithful clientele and that means that the food is consistantly good. None the less the wait was worth it. I had the Polo a la Creama. It was the best serving of this meal that I have ever eaten in a Mexican Restaurant. I would give the meal by itself five stars. If the chips and salsa had been as good as the meal they would have gotten a five star rating across the board. But I have had better chips from the grocery store. With that being said, I would still recommend this establishment to everyone that ever visits Idaho Falls, Idaho. And yes I will go back and eat there again when I visit there again in the future.

After having a horrible experience at the other Jalisco's on River Parkway, I was not looking forward to dinner here. Boy was I surprised! As soon as we were seated, they brought us hot & fresh chips, salsa, and bean dip. I was blown away by how good it all was. I had nearly 3 baskets of chips and 4 cups of bean dip all to myself! Per our waitress's suggestion, I had the Pollo Fundido. No idea what I was getting myself into, but after I took a bite my eyes rolled into the back of my head in ecstacy. The chicken was so moist and the entire dish was absolutley amazing. I was pretty much full from all the chips and dip, but I couldn't stop eating my meal because it was so good. Everyone else's meal was delicious too. The carne asada was cooked to absolute perfection, the macho burrito really lives up to its name, and the enchiladas were awesome, according to my family who I was dining with. And last but not least, the service was incredible. My bean dip was refilled as soon as I could finish it, they were totally on top of the drinks, and the entire staff was very friendly and happy to serve. I seriously can not wait to go back! I've had some amazing Mexican food before, and Jalisco's is right up there with the best of them. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because the atmosphere wasn't all that awesome. The place is decorated nicely and is clean, but it's more of a mellow place to eat and relax than it is a place to party and get wild. It's definitely a family restaurant, and even a nice place to take a date.

My wife and I dropped in for some late night chips and salsa. We shared a taquito platter. Service was excellent and the food was extremely good. One of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to.

Great from start to finish. Great enchiladas. Everyone loved chocolate enchilada for dessert. Traveling from Bay Area and didn't expect food this good on a Sunday night

We were driving from Salt Lake City up to Leadore, Idaho and stopped at Jalisco's in Idaho Falls after reading reviews here on YELP. First off, please note that the location on E. 17th Street is sort-of far from Route 15 North but in the end it was worth the drive. We had trouble locating the restaurant because it was located in a strip mall tucked in between Little Caesars and some other Chain stores, nearby the Dollar General. I was skeptical because of the mall-like setting but as soon as we entered the restaurant I was charmed by the decor and pleasant hostess. The food was really good. The guac was not tip-top but I live in Manhattan and consider myself a real avacado connesouir. I had cheese enchilladas and my brother had the carne asado. We enjoyed the meal so much after very long flights from the East Coast and we still had 2 more hours driving up to Salmon National Forest. So on the way home from our reunion we decided to stop at Jalisco's near the falls since we enjoyed the one on 17th St. so much and the River Park location was very close to the highway. WHAT A MISTAKE. We should have heeded the reviews here on Yelp. DO NOT GO TO THE JALISCO'S ON RIVER PARKWAY. It was small, noisy and the waiter was terrible. I will post a more detailed review on that listing. But we loved the one on 17th and would definitely recommend it to others.

After moving here a year go from Tucson, we've struggled to find a good Mexican restaurant. This one fit the bill. We've eaten there several times. Granted that some items just aren't available here in IF that we could get in Tucson (El Charro, Las Margarita's, Lupe's) but the service is good, the menu is good and preparation has been consistent. We've also tried the Jalisco's restaurant across from the falls...newer but not better. Very disappointed with service and food quality at that location.

I travel a lot in Idaho and I have to say that Jalisco's may be the best mexican food in Idaho. Great service awesome food. Worth your time and money.

I'd never been in Idaho Falls before and was in town for one night on business. Thanks to fellow Yelpers I was able to find this very good Mexican restaurant. I ordered a sort of chicken fajita dish served in a spicy chipotle sauce. It was very tasty, as were the rice and pinto beans served with it. It also came with some warm tortillas and freshly made chips and salsa that were also yummy. I got takeout and picked up a couple of good craft beers at the Albertson's market down the street. I would definitely come back here in the unlikely event that I ever find myself in Idaho Falls again.

This is a wonderful blend of authentic Mexican food with the "staples" Americans have come to expect (yes, I'm talking about the usually-crummy "Spanish" rice). My wife had the Chile Colorado, and would eat it every day she possibly could. I tried hers, and I'd have to agree. That made it tough to taste my dish afterward, because I was set up for disappointment and regret that I changed my mind at the last minute away from the Chile Colorado. First lesson - don't taste your dinner-mates' food before you have your own. But then I tasted my own - I think it was called Pork Nogales, which was pork with green peppers, onions, and cactus. Wonderful. I could have alternated days with the Chile and pork and have been happy for years. Very full of complex flavor. Really, both dishes were so good I have difficulty describing them. Very full of flavor with a very nice spiciness. The sides of refried beans and "Spanish" rice were decent. The beans where nothing special, but were tasty. I usually hate the rice at Mexican restaurants, but this was flavorful and, had I not been stuffed on the pork, I would have actually eaten it, which does not usually happen. With the traditional chips and sauce at the beginning of the meal they also serve bowls of refried beans. I'd never been offered that before and found it a very nice addition. The service was very good, and the meal was very quick to arrive. I don't do well with accents so the waiter's was a bit to wade through, but he was very friendly, prompt and attentive without going overboard. One more thing, if you go and order a milk for your ten year old daughter, be prepared for the quart-sized glass. The kid burritos were a decent size and very flavorful, as well. In short, very high marks for this wonderful little surprise in Idaho Falls.

Being from Southern California, it's not surprising that my standards for a Mexican restaurant in Idaho Falls were low. Jalisco's came very highly recommended from folks I was working with, but I still arrived prepared for mediocre mexican. After securing a booth with a view of the "falls," I set to work perusing the six-to-eight page menu -- more Mexican food offerings than I have ever seen. Fresh chips and home-made salsa were quickly walked over, and drink orders taken, all within two minutes of me sitting down. The service here is fantastic. I kept it simple, ordering a combination plate with a cheese enchilada and chicken taco; my co-worker ordering carne asada fajitas. All I can say is that this was quite possibly the freshest Mexican food I have ever eaten, with quality that far surpasses the majority of Mexican restaurants I've been to in Southern California. I was in Idaho Falls for three weeks and in that time, dined at Jalisco's four times, took take-out back to my hotel at least five, and have recommended it to others more times than I can count. Definitely my go-to restaurant in Idaho Falls! ** The address seems to be a bit off -- this review is based on the newer location across from the river.

The chips and bean dip were my favorite part of the meal. I got a combo plate- cheese enchilada and chicken chalupa. I asked for a fried egg on the enchilada, the waiter looked at me like I had two heads. It's on their menu! I didn't get the idea out of nowhere! Anyways, the chicken tasted weird, so I didn't eat it, and the enchilada was too cheesy, if that's even possible, and the sauce was a little off. My in laws got very non traditional meals and were even more dissapointed than I was. Pollo fundido and pollo a la crema- I've never seen these before anywhere, but the in laws ordered it "polo" like the sport, so you can't trust them and Mexican food anyways. My husband said he could probably like the place a lot if he just found the right thing to eat there. Oh, and there were "sopapillas" on the menu, but they were a dessert, which is not where I like them and it said its a fried chip! A chip?! A sopapilla is fried dough! Google it. Always crispy dough. We actually chose this place because another reviewer mentioned sopapillas. That made me sad. Not delicious overall, but it was busy and we asked a family on their way out if it was good and they said it was super good. I'd give it one more chance if I was craving Mexican.

I came here randomly as an out of towner, ready to be disappointed, as I was an avid mexican food consumer in Los Angeles - but this place was fantastic! Big points early on with complimentary warmed corn chips and bean and salsa dip. We ordered a combo dish with chalupa (light, fried deliciousness), beef tamale and chicken enchiladas in a light red sauce (very tasty) - huge plate for $11.95.The chicken was really nice quality for a mexican restaurant - moist, white meat, tender, gently seasoned. And I think the corn tortillas are home made, soft chewy and fresh tasting. We also had fish tacos $11.95, which were good but avoid the gnarly fishy cream sauce. And the fried icecream desert was really more like chewy corn flakes on crappy vanilla ice cream $3.95 doused with caramel sauce - the highlight was the sopapias. But overall, this is tasty mexican food. I'd go back.

Tasty, but mediocre food. The salsa had a nice zing, which I enjoyed. Also, warm refriend beans with the initial chips and salsa is a great touch. I thoroughly enjoyed the tortilla soup, but my main course (three amigos) was okay. Granted I was pretty full when I left...it wasn't the best, but it wasn't horrid. Service was excellent.

17th St. location. Good. Good chips, salsa. Had the combo dish of chile verde (good), chile colorado (fair - good taste, a little tough), chile relleno (good, would be better with fresh chile instead of canned). Everything good, could be better.

YUMMY!!!! I am a California girl and very picky about my Mexican food. So, ok, it's not AS good as my favorite places to eat back home, but it is for sure the best place I've had Mexican food here in Idaho Falls. (so far). Not a huge fan of cheddar cheese on my enchiladas (lost a star for that). CA restaurants use Monterey Jack (much better). However I will definitely be returning to eat here very soon.

This is my family's favorite restaurant in Idaho Falls - probably their favorite restaurant ever. The food is delicious and inexpensive. They serve free chips with beans and salsa as an appetizer. My favorites are the chicken fajitas and the shredded beef flautas. My parents love the Macho Burrito. Be sure to get an horchata too! Jalisco's is so much better than any of the Mexican restaurants I've found in my 8 years in California.

service was really poor. We waited 10-15 min with no one at the reception desk and no one said hi to us. A lot of waiting. We ended up being there almost 1 1/2 hours and at least half of that was waiting. This whole time we only saw our server 3 maybe 4 times. She never refilled our drinks and we finally just gave up waiting for our check and got up to ask for it. At least the food was hot and tasted good. I got a sampler appetizer that was filling enough to be all of dinner plus the chips with salsa and bean dip was good. Probably won't go again due to service and the food was just okay good.

Delicious! A small group of us were in town for business and were told this restaurant had good authentic Mexican food. We were a little skeptical as there were not very many people in the restaurant (it was a Monday night). They brought the standard chips and salsa along with refried beans. I was not that thrilled with the salsa so I decided to order a side of guac. The guac was very good! I decided to order the Pollo Fundido and honestly think it is one of the best ones I have ever had. The rest of the group also loved their food. If I happen to come back to Idaho Falls in the future, I will definitely be coming back to Jalisco's!

Jalisco's is not on the same level as the best Mexican food places in California, but the food is nonetheless quite good. The salsa that they serve with chips is a bit too watery for my liking, but is not bad. Service is prompt and professional. And the portions are huge, so it's good value. Overall 4/5.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
