From the time we sat down to the time our order was taken, it was twenty minutes. We decided to take everything on the table and build a tower to see how long it would take them to notice we were still sitting over here, aimlessly playing. It was over my head when the waitress showed up. I'm sure she thought we were either crazy or drug addicts. Perhaps both. But it got the job done. I ordered a turkey bacon avocado melt with fries. My husband got the Reuben and fries. The food was prompt, unlike the waitress. The fries look as though they were actually potatoes earlier in the day, which is a plus, but a dash of salt after frying wouldn't have gone amiss. The Reuben was pretty good. Lots of sauerkraut and pickles added freshness to what can be a pretty heavy sandwich. My turkey bacon avocado melt was also quite good, with pepper jack cheese adding a nice zing to it. Sandwich-wise I don't have any complaints. Perhaps it's time to reevaluate the staff.

What can I say but absolutely wonderful food. Customer service is above and beyond the normal, the owner even came over to chat with us

A great typical diner. Large scones and great eggs for breakfast. Huge sausage patties and country fried steak that takes up the whole plate. Did I mention the scones? Large soft and doughy like a doughnut with berry jelly, syrup, honey butter. Great hash browns. I have eaten lunch, but, the sirloin steak and eggs were great.

Well the atmosphere reminded me of a 1970's diner. It's kinda ghetto and the bathroom is well kinda hard to explain. Two toilets, one is out in the open and one has a door, but no lock. Now that that's out of the way, the food.... Is glorious! We (my husband and I) had the Rio Grande breakfast. He ate my pork though. (I don't eat swine) but the rest oh my... The Nutella and banana waffle, was like a magic trick in my mouth. We had our nieces with us, and they had, chicken strips, Mac n cheese and breakfast and loved it. I would recommend this lil 1970's escape to anyone. Never judge a book by its cover...

DO NOT EAT HERE! This place needs a Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmare's Makeover. Everything was awful. I don't mind fried, greasy food from a diner but this place was just gross. We took the kids and everything was either bland, tasteless, overcooked or just plain nasty. The famous scones were super dense, not light and fluffy like scones should be- you're better off getting one from Fiesta Ole - I mean WAY better off. Everything was dirty, floors, booths, dishes, etc. The decor looked like it hadn't been updated or cleaned in over 20 year. The restaurant being almost empty should have been a red flag when we walked in, but with nobody being there our food sure did take an extra long time to get out of the kitchen. Don't waste your time or money here - we all walked away feeling sick.

Skip the rest of the over-loaded menu. Go for the breakfast menu. Go for the scones. Go for the chicken fried steak. Don't go there if you're expecting ambiance or fancy food. It's an old-school diner complete with dated...everything... If they could just up their game, this could be a great place.

Came to Idaho Falls to visit my sister. I asked her and her husband to take me to their favorite place. Cedrics it was. Perfect greasy spoon truck stop diner. Giant size portions of food with plenty of flavor. I had to try the famous scones and I'm glad I did. Just spread some honey butter on the scone and your good to go! Deliciousness!

I ate here a few days ago. And while the food tasted good. Low behold I got salmonella food poisoning! Never again will I eat here! I've never felt so bad in my entire life! Be smart DO NOT EAT HERE!

Used to eat here regularly a few years back. Loved their breakfast, their scones, and their taco salad for dinner. No more. Last time we ate here, the taco meat smelled and tasted like fish. Was it cooked with fish or was it going rancid? I offered the waitress a sniff of it and she said,"It's usually good." (Vote of confidence?) I changed it out to their $5 burger special which had no taste and enough grease in it to... (well use your imagination) and it was served in a fries basket with wax paper instead of on a real plate. Decor wise the place needs a makeover - badly! A real greasy spoon in search of the spoon.

We had a large group come here. The waitstaff looked overwhelmed by all 12 of us. The scones are great! But the food is just food. Another review described it great, greasy spoon truck stop food.

Fifteen minute wait, then we were seated for 20 minutes before someone took our order and then we waited 50 minutes more for our food. Apparently there was a power failure in a neighboring town that morning leading to a larger-than-normal crowd, but they'd had at least three hours to staff up--we got there around 10:00. I was beginning to think we'd have to leave for the airport before we ate. My associate said his omelette was good. Hell, the "scone" (I would call it "fry bread") was good too. But the service! After they finally brought our food the waitress scuttled off without leaving us any silverware. When we flagged her down, first she distributed it to the neighboring table that had no food yet. It didn't really matter that I had to wait to dig in, since the order had clearly been cooling off for at least ten minutes before she served it.

Cedric's had a nice flow of customers the Friday evening we were there. The couple ordering ahead of us got the last of the prime rib special, so we had the stuffed pork chops. Everything was delicious. It was a high caloric, rich, comfort food kind of meal - perfect because we'd just driven through 2 hours of stormy weather. The prices are most reasonable, the staff very friendly and the eavesdropping unparalleled. We'll be back if we ever pass through Idaho Falls again. Support the independent restaurants wherever and whenever you get the chance!

I went on the basis of the other reviews here. I can't believe the experience we had....it was as if it were a different restaurant. The breakfast we ordered was very very bad. The scrambled eggs were glistening with oil and looked like someone had forgotten to scramble them and then just chopped up a quasi omelet. The waffle was rather sour. My partner's was similarly bad. Perhaps the real Cedric's was closed when we came and some gremlins had come in and taken over the kitchen that morning??? How could it go from 5 stars to well ok I should have put one....buyer beware.

I'm so glad we found this place! We stopped by for breakfast on our way to Yellowstone. Everything was delicious. I got the sausage and eggs and it came with a GIANT scone. Scones around here are not the typical hardened rocks. They are deep fried pieces of dough, almost like donuts but without the hole. The scone itself doesn't have much flavor but once you spread the honey butter, it's amazing. Great homemade breakfast. The waffles were gigantic! And of course, my meal came with some Idaho potatoes. Yummy. I don't even think they charge tax here!

Cedrics is one of my favorite restaurants in Idaho Falls... I t is homey and not fancy but has good wholesome food and very well priced if you don't like diner décor which I think is part of the charm this is not for you, however if you want a variety of good foods and want to eat the best rueban you have ever eaten this is the place

Service was excellent. If you're just passing by, the employees/owner of the restaurant would be happy to share local fun and information to enhance your traveling experience. We had the country fried chicken steak and club omelet. Each came with a side of hash brown and choice of toast or scone. 5 star The scone with sweet butter is a must try! 5 star Chicken fried steak. The original gravy was perfect with just the right amount of thickness and flavor. Not too heavy at all. 3 star Club omelet was okay and had a heavy fill of fresh ingredients. There was no lacking of turkey in the sucker. Cedric's Family Restaurant, I will miss you.

Fiance and I were on our way back to Montana from California with a friend. You walk in and see framed pictures on the walls, including ones of Bill Clinton and Tiger Woods. My favorite is in the inner dining area with a tubby cat falling off a piano. The place has a great family style diner feel to it. The service is great. Breakfast omelets and hashbrowns are given in generous portions. If you don't want to stop in, at least try the scones. These aren't your typical scones, but known as elephant ears. They're so delicious, almost like flat donuts that you can tear of bits and eat.

O yelp.... You rarely let me down but today was absolutely horrible. I don't even know where to start on this terrible establishment. It was not busy at all and was easily over staffed yet it took us 15 minutes to even get our overly burnt coffee. We ordered food hoping for some relief and what we received was a disaster. I ordered the prime rib sliders and my two buddies ordered the eggs Benny. My sliders looked like roast beef wedged between cardboard and cheap cheese with fries that didn't even hit the fryer. Apparently I missed the memo that you eat Idaho potatoes ice cold. When our server placed the eggs Benny in front of my friends it was as bad as telling your kids there's no such thing as Santa. The color of the hollandaise sauce must of been the same color they used to paint this place off brown. The eggs looked awful and the ham looked like a piece of Oscar Myer bologna cheap and un satisfying. Our server repeatedly apologized for everything and didn't once ask how the food was (well played) its apparent even the staff knows how horrible and poor quality this food is. I wanted to gargle the hand sanitizer on the counter on my way out because no stomach deserves this much disrespect. Go anywhere but here trust me its not worth your time or the gut ache.

I came here for a snowy night dinner. When I walked in you could tell that this was a down-home cooking type of place. I ordered pork chops which were good and scones which were HUGE and totally hit the spot. How could you go wrong with fried dough?!
