Well we needed some breakfast nothing left on the DDD app so this place has great reviews on Yelp plus it was 1/2 mile away. They are known for their german style pancakes but FYI they are humongous. So I just got eggs, sausage patty (not house made) and potato pancakes. OMG I want more of these!! They are hash browns, green onions, garlic, s & p in a thinner pancake type batter, fried crispy and then served with sour cream and apple sauce. WoW!! And the OJ is fresh squeezed! If you ever see an Elmer's stop in for a great breakfast!!!

We had breakfast here on the last day of our visit to Coeur d'Alene. Wish we had found Elmer's sooner. Enjoyed a delicious northwest cherries pancake breakfast (which I understand they have since taken off the menu) and skillet. Service was extremely enjoyable, friendly and helpful. Couldn't have asked for a better waitress who went out of her way to make our meal memorable. Thanks Jennie! Wish that the hot drink selection was more varied and of much better quality (and much less sweet). If you want to know where I am coming from, see John Yudkin's research on the topic of sugar. We stuck to orange juice. One star off for a poorly executed front entrance. I hope I'll never have trouble walking, buy I know plenty of older folks and veterans who do. On a snowy/slushy day like the day we visited it seemed pretty challenging for anyone to reach the entrance and there was no way to drop off passengers curbside. A bit of sand/de-icer might help? When they put the northwest cherries back on the menu we'll gladly be back!

While I'm usually looking for the secret hole in the wall, this is one of my favorite chains for breakfast. Great pancakes in a warm friendly atmosphere.

We've been here so many times since October 2013, far better than Shari's or JB's in an overall more comfortable dining experience. Our last visit 8/18 the host actually greeted us at the second atrium door. Very refreshing! Service has always been very good, fast and courteous. Look for Alicia or Caleb. All the staff we've encountered have been worth the trip there. Food is fresh, good value and varied. Pies are fabulous!

Wow, if they would open one of these up in Cedar Park, TX I would get soooo fat so quick! Maybe they should stay up here in the Northwest. I know my family here in Couer d'Alene won't allow me to eat here my entire stay but if I could sneak in once a day for the I would solely for the the German pancakes. They are absolutely awesome. I would eat them again and again. It's sort of like open crepes but better. The hot chocolate was also awesome. I ordered one but once it arrived at the table the kids sucked it down so we ordered more for them. It was that good. There were 8 of us dining in on this visit (4 adults & 4 kids). Although somewhat busy we were taken care of and attended to like the place was empty and she had nothing better to do. If you're in the area this is definitely a great breakfast spot even a dinner breakfast spot. It is not a Denny's, Perkins or Village Inn (it's way better than those chains!).

Walked in close to closing, was greeted politely and made to feel welcome by staff. It's such a nice feeling to have customer service with a smile! Great food, still served promptly and fresh! Will be back for another trip before we head back home.

I've lived here all of my life and hadn't came until recently to this tucked away cafe. I was sure missing out! Amazing food and great service. Loved the crab Benedict.

We came in for a late breakfast mostly because we could walk from out hotel. Was pleasantly surprised. Elmers offers a very extensive menu. It Would take some time to try everything. Sadly I ordered what I always order from restaurants like this and I wasn't disappointed. They did chicken fried steak and eggs very well. The coffee wasn't the worst I'd ever had but close. All in all we Def come back. Looking forward to the German pancake or the crabacado benedict.

We were in town from the Seattle area for my daughter's wedding. After a long day driving over and helping out with wedding preparations we were all tired and starving. So after a quick refresh at the hotel my X, two of our kids and our youngest daughter's boyfriend met up with my brother to find something to eat. We were looking for a place with a wide variety of things to eat. I'm glad we ended up at Elmer's. The place was very clean (a good sign) and everyone who works here was super friendly and helpful. The six of us all ordered something very different from flat iron steak to chicken salad to breakfast waffles and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the Hazelnut-Crusted Alaskan Cod with fresh seasonal vegetables and rice pilaf. It was very good (and at a very reasonable price I must say) and the portions were more than I could eat in one sitting so I took some back to the hotel for a snack later that evening. I was impressed with their service, especially since they were very busy when we arrived. They gave us a lot of attention, but weren't invasive. The receptionist and our waiter were wonderful and even the chef came by to say hello and asked if everything was okay. I'm aware Elmer's is a chain, yet after that weekend and looking back, the experience here in Coeur d'Alene felt very authentically local and home grown. Kudo's to you, the experience was truly what you created for us. Thanks!

We are out of state and came here for breakfast on a Monday morning. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, I ordered the ham & cheese omelet and I got my kids a breakfast kids meal. Everything but the eggs were good. The eggs were so bland and they had the texture of rubber. I couldn't even eat my omelet. They must of came from a bag. I was disappointed because we had an Elmer's in WA that I miss dearly. The waitress was nice and welcoming.

Who would have thought that this quiet tucked away Idaho town would have so many quality places to eat, and Elmers was no exception. My boyfriend and I travel for work and as such we eat at a LOT of restaurants. One of the biggest complains we have as far as breakfast places go is the difficulty of finding quality coffee. Even so called "coffee houses" are usually a disappointment. Imagine then how excited we were to see that Elmer's offered organic shade grown french pressed coffee. It is a mouthful I know, but it is a mouthful of awesomeness. The menu was also very extensive and had many unique offerings that you wont find anywhere I've been, including Elverskivers (a small round Danish pancake) which I have never seen made outside of my own kitchen. The options were plentiful and the service was very friendly. Each table had a little program that gave a short bio of everyone who worked there, it was very fun. Turns out, out server speaks 7 languages. Even if everything else had been crap (which it wasn't) it would still be worth a visit JUST for the coffee. If you are a coffee snob, then you must visit Elmer's.

Elmer's has a great selection of breakfast and lunch items. They also have dinner items but I have not eaten dinner there yet. The sandwiches come on a fresh and yummy roll. The sandwich ingredients are very fresh and filling. The fries are hot, fresh and endless.

While out of town visiting family we stopped at Elmer's in Coeur D' Alene, ID for breakfast. Had a lovely experience even though it was Father's Day and the place was packed. We arrived at 9am, had a short wait (maybe 15 minutes) and were promptly seated. Our waitress, Julia, was fantastic. Prompt and courteous with the service, always a friendly smile. Though the place was busy she was always on top of it. Breakfast for me was a crab eggs benedict...had them add some avocado and viola! Yummy perfection. Everyone else at the table reportedly had tasty meals as well. I didn't look at the rest of the menu but the breakfast selection is huge, over three pages of options. They have all the classics plus multiple more specialty offerings. As plates went by our table I never saw anything that didn't look good. Except sausage, but I can't stand sausage so that's not fair. The place is a chain but it serves up pretty delish food. I would happily return on our next visit.

Good food. PROS: Waffle has that subtle sweet taste. The Limited Time Avocado Burger was fantastic. Food came quickly and was just right. Waitress was great.CONS: The greeting staff were a bit aloof and our wait was 10 minutes on Sunday morning even though the dining area was half empty. No big deal, but looking at 12 empty tables and being told the wait is 10 minutes is a little silly.
(4)Scott R.
Just as average dining experience as you would get at Denny's. No surprises, and nothing was spectacular. Our lunch for two, amounted to $30.00.
(3)Andy F.
Wow, what service and great food! Hostess even ran out to my car with left overs I forgot at the table!
(5)Savannah M.
PROS: Food came fast and tasted really good. CONS: our waitress was "aloof" She kept confusing things and telling us that. Lol. She said no wait that was another order I'm sorry I'm such an airhead don't tell is that! Geez! They cleared our table then we sat there for 10 minutes before she says " oh did I not give you your check yet??"
(4)Kent K.
The service was very friendly and helpful. The menu was large with lots of delicious sounding entrees. I had a bacon cheeseburger that was hug and very tasty. It came with endless fries but I doubt most people would have room for more after eating the burger

1 is the lowest i can give, zero is not an option for thsi horrible place that is over priced, not home made, a puny salad bar, a chain smoking waitress who smelled of Tobacco. My wife ordered a meal that included a soup and salad bar. The waitress literally threw the plate on the table. It bounced across the table, I kid u not! The food was horrible. The salad bar? Should be illegal to call it a salad bar! When I complained. she told me to go somewhere else to eat! I cannot believe they still send me promo email..lol We would never go back..Dollar menu at any fast food is better than this place..what a shonda!

Delicious coffee! I drank my first cup in 2 minutes! Delicious and hot lingonberry crepes! Eggs were perfect. Come with an appetite. GREAT and prompt service! Would definitely go back! Wish we had one at home in NV :-)
(5)Kristen J.
Great place for breakfast! Service was warm, attentive, and friendly. The portions were generous, and the food hit the spot for the entire family before burning all those calories at Silverwood. Convenient location and good food!

I can understand why some people compare it to Denny's and why some vehemently disagree. Breakfast - Elmer's does best with its breakfast items. I would agree with those that say it's much better than Denny's and is genuinely worth 4 stars. BTW this is a lot coming from me since I am usually very critical of breakfast. Bottom line is I would go there any time for Breakfast. 4 Stars Lunch - Elmer's is marginally better than Denny's with lunch. They serve mostly basic coffee shop items and nothing is a super standout or a super dud. I think there are better places to go for lunch but I wouldn't fear going here either. 3 Stars Dinner - This is where they are equal to Denny's. Highly salted, packaged gravies, mediocre mashed potatoes and a host of portion controlled entrees. Personally I would stay away. 1.5 Stars

Great place for the family, basic, good food and plenty of it, service is good too. been there about 5 times and it has always been consistently good. Do not drink or order alcohol, so I am not sure they even serve it. Thank you
(4)Angela S.
I mean, it's pretty much a Denny's. The service is better than Denny's, sure, but the food is about the same. Pass.

Stopped here while passing through on the way to WA. Took a long time to get seated don't know if they have a hostess or not but it was clean and decorated for the holidays. Large menu. The food was excellent my husband loved the bottomless fries. And the staff were really excellent giving us some pointers for driving in the snow.
(4)Jyoti N.
I liked their potato pancakes
(4)Wesley R.
Food is pretty good simular to the Perkins that was previously in their location. Alot of elderly customers but quite atmosphere and friendly staff.

Food was pretty good. It was definitely good for the price!!!! The customer service was absolutely PHENOMENAL. our waitress was very nice and funny. She was quick to get us what we needed. The food also came out very quickly. A great place overall!!

Elmer's is a reliable, American-style place that is definitely a step up from Denny's (and which I'm more partial to than Shari's). However, I was really blown away from the great service from our waiter; he was really intuitive as far as gauging what we needed (he gave us extra ranch for my sister's chicken strips leftovers!), and checked on us frequently, but not so that it was stalker-ish --so I added another star :) So before we even decided to go to Elmer's, I was reading the reviews about near-by places and saw that there was a salad bar. It's not exactly in their menu online (nor have I ever been to another Elmer's with a salad bar), but it's $8.99 and includes soup & salad!! The reviews sold us on it, especially since my dad was really hankering for a good salad bar. And that it was, despite the other reviewer's forewarning. I mean-- really, there aren't too many places with salad bars anymore, so we were just thankful there was even that option! Granted, it's not as extensive as a buffet's would be, but they had some nice surprises like this "green fluff" aka pistachio pudding-ish dessert and potato salad. Plus, the soup has three choices which I"m sure rotates except for the clam chowder (they were serving vegetable beef + tomato basil gorgonzola, fyi). Besides that, Elmer's is pretty standard and consistent, but we enjoyed our meal and had a pleasant visit! BTW-- you can add on the salad bar to your entree for $2.99! (I'm not trying to market or anything, but just wanted to let all those other salad bar lovers out there, ha).

Very nice servers keep this eatery at 3 stars for me. The food here is just not that great. Portions are ok. The salad bar needs revamping completely. If you can find a local coupon I guess its ok to eat here, Breakfast would be my choice, but if you have no coupon there are much better dining options in Coeurd Alene than here.
(3)Jay G.
Angela from WA. Your nuts! The food is very good here. And how long has it been since you have been in a Denny's? They are Shit! Had a great Breakfast and Dinner. May be you need out more in Wash Land! Jay from MT!
(5)Courtney J.
A friend and I went in for brunch and we certainly was not disappointed! The staff was so friendly and made us feel like we were at the own home. I'm a sucker for avocado after living in California so I ordered the avocado, bacon, and shrimp skillet, with a berry crepe on the side. AMAZING! I would have never put shrimp with breakfast but I want it everyday now :) the portion was huge so I took most of it home. I will be back again and again!
(5)Cynthia S.
We are Elmer's fans and eat here when we are on vacation. Definitely NOT a Denny's type place. We always have good Breakfast's and have never been disappointed.
(4)Tiffany L.
Lovely little breakfast/lunch spot! Awesome cobb salad, decent turkey noodle soup. Clean, friendly service, local ingredients... can't go wrong at Elmers!
(4)Richard D.
I use to eat here several times a month; however, the hash browns (a must be good item) went down hill! Also, the bacon, which had been okay....went the same way. I complained to the management.....didn't seem to care. Ric

Great food selection sure to please everyone in your group, also a very tasty salad bar. Our large group was taken care of quickly and we will always return when we are in the area. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy working for the restaurant which shows through in the great service. Also never felt rushed to leave like you do in so many large chain restaurants. Must visit if you are ever in the area. A+
(5)Lance M.
Great food, great service!!!! We love going here whenever we come up to ID to see family.
(5)Dave K.
We came for breakfast, and we got BREAKFAST! This is the kingdom of heaven for a country boy like me. My wife had the Dutch Boy(?) like a large pancake that was off the hook! The waitress was prompt, friendly, attentive, and helpful. I LOVE this place; in fact, I've only been to one Elmers (Boise - Capital Blvd) that ever disappointed me. Elmers is consistently good and consistently satisfying at very reasonable prices. Don't drive by an Elmers without stopping. If you do - Looooooooserrrrrrrrr!
(5)Hulda W.
One of my favorite chain restaurants ever. Used to love Marie Calendar's in the olden days down in California but now that I live in the PNW this is where I come for a "chain restaurant" fix. They are very proud of their authentic PNW menu and, darn it, so am I. My favorite is the Dungeness Crab BLT salad but my daughter tells me all their other menu items are just as good. There house wine selection is not bad either.
(5)Aaron S.
Great food! Fast, friendly service, its a favorite for my whole family! The Fish & Chips are the best around, and the kids love the chocolate chip pancakes. Great value for the price!
(4)Sherry H.
Great family dining. Clean and friendly staff. The food is great, love the salad bar! The owner is a wonderful boss and family man, I can say this because i worked for him!!
