Loved the 'old fashioned' look of the place as we walked through the door. Not a huge place, but cozy enough to enjoy a nice pizza. They weren't busy during our visit, but the gentleman serving us was by himself, busy preparing his homemade sauce and dough. Pizza was hot and fresh tasting, and I'd recommend to anyone to give it a try.

BURLEY IDAHO: Driving through a small town, needed something to eat and some caffeine, decided to stop at Al's. Ambience (3 stars): The entryway looks like a divey little pizza shop; not much for parking or curb appeal, which is fine, meets expectations. The interior is really cozy, though, lots of booths, wooden walls, kitschy cabinets and 1940's framed calendar images on the walls. More like an old family diner than a pizza joint. I quite liked the interior for a place to rest from the road. Service (3 stars): The cashier/cook/waiter/busboy was very nice. Yes, he was all the same person, doing all the jobs. Al is getting a helluva deal on labor costs. PIZZA-tried two kinds: Al's Super Combo (2.5 Stars): The crust on this pizza was surprisingly good: crisp and chewy, homemade, and served warm. The toppings were plentiful, but derivative: chopped ham from the grocer, mushrooms, pineapple, and olives from a can. It tasted fine. The unfortunate reality was that the center of the pizza did not have thick enough crust and got soggy under the weight of the toppings. Sour Pig (2 stars): This pizza scores points for originality. Mustard sauce, sour kraut, and Canadian bacon. It is adventurous, and I had to try it. Unfortunately it was too adventurous for me. I didn't like the flavor combination of the mustard with the other two. I like each flavor apart very much, but together just weirded me out. Maybe you will like it better than me. Squeaks by with 3 stars. Compared to the rest of Burley, though, this has been declared the winner.

We stooped for lunch while traveling through. The service was outstanding (we met Al). Had the salad bar/2 slice special for $5.95! The salad bar and pizza were basic and fresh...just what we needed. Nothing fancy, but a nice local establishment. Four stars for the service and friendly staff.

This place is somewhere to check out! Loved the pizza we had and the service was really great. They went out of their way to make sure our experience was great. We would go back for sure when we are in Burley.

Put simply, this is where the locals get pizza. I've been eating at Al's all of my life and have nothing but good to say about Al and his pizza. If you've never tried it, you are missing out. If you are visiting the Mini-Cassia area or even driving through on I-84 this is a place I would recommend grabbing a bite to eat. You can dine in or carry out. On Tuesday's they have a good deal where you can get two medium pizzas with unlimited toppings for $14.99. If you like spicy food, add hot cheese to your pizza. In addition to pizza, they have a menu with sandwiches, salads and soups--which is all good--but when I go it is for the pizza.

This place offers a warm small-town welcome from the moment you walk in. Our family was traveling through from Salt Lake and it was nearly 8pm on a Thursday night when we pulled in. We stopped in just as the guy working (whose name was Al, by the way) was about to head home, but stayed open just for us. We had two fantastic pizzas. Al told us they make their own sauce and dough. My husband, who grew up as the son of a pizza restaraunteur in Chicago, is a pizza snob and he loved the pepperoni, mushroom, and anchovy pizza. Delicious cheese pizza, too! Al's Pizza Shop has a ice cream parlor in the back and my kids all loved their post-pizza ice cream cones. If you're hoping to find good pizza (or anything tasty, really) in the area, this is the place to eat. Say "hi" to Al from us!

Drove into Burley off I-84 to eat here but it was closed at 7:30 pm on Saturday night after Thanksiving. Answering machine with message about hours would be helpful. Mad enough for the waste of time to avoid in future.

Well, I don't like to say bad things, but if Burley has a yummy pizza place, this isn't it. Restaurant was a little creepy, and the employees didn't seem very interested in serving out of towners. We sat down to eat, but after dirty plates were brought to the table, we decided to get it to go. The pizza was ok, but not any better than pizza hut or dominos, like I expected a mom and pop place like this to be.
