Wow, every food item is so cheap and fresh~! I'm saving a lot of money by coming here.

You have to check out the bulk section! Major savings! This location is always clean and the staff is friendly. The produce is usually fresh and the deli and bakery are well-stocked. The prices are (of course) super hard to beat! This location never seems over-crowded, either.

I am a hard working college student who decided to spend half of my paycheck at Winco rather than going to Walmart. As I was leaving the store I was actually accused of stealing by a check out attendant. I am so offended!!! Guess I'll have to travel a little bit farther to get my groceries from now on.

I would generally call myself a Winco fan and usually would rate them higher. But a recent reorganization and relocation of EVERYTHING is a bad deal. The good: great selection, prices, availability of bulk foods (I really like the bulk spices for my fledgling competition BBQ hobby) and convenient location. The Bad and the Ugly: They moved everything around in the store (obviously a move stolen from Walmart's playbook), you can never find an associate to help you locate that one last thing on your shopping list and the baddest and most ugly thing is low quality meats, the just carry select beef. Come on!! even Walmart carries choice beef and Costco has prime beef if you need it for a special occasions. Overall Winco is my go to everyday grocery store, except for meat.

I prefer Winco over any of that 'bigger' chain stores for groceries in Boise. I also prefer this particular location over the one on Fairview. The parking situation seems safer, and I find the layout of the Fairview store to be confusing. I love that Winco is open 24/7 (the exception being on Christmas and Thanksgiving- for which I applaud management.) I much prefer to shop at the buttcrack of dawn and dodge folks cleaning and stocking the store versus navigating people who feel the need to bring the entire family of seven and block the aisles chit chatting. When Winco finally installed self check out that only ADDED to my happiness! Winco is well lit. The aisles are wide and you can easily read the prices. I do on occasion miss having someone else to bag my groceries.. then I remember that when I unload my own cart, I can group my items together so that I can bag them in a manner that best suits ME- and this makes unloading them easier once home. The only thing that annoys me at this location is something that the store has nothing to do with. It is the presence of panhandlers on at EVERY entry and exit point. I'm not saying that those in need should not be seen, it just seems to pile on guilt, even though I know I donate in several ways to assist those in need in Boise. Winco.. not as many frills (no salad/soup/olive/chicken bar or beer on tap) but MUCH better prices and for me, a vibe that brings out the hunter/gatherer in a BIG way.

I always prefer this location over the Fairview one. It seems cleaner and more organized to me. I love love love being able to by items in bulk so i can get just the right amount that I need. The produce is always fresh and stocked and is better than Fred Myers and cheaper. I love being able to bag my own groceries and it always helps me to remember to bring my own shopping bags. Beware of the bakery section or else you will gain 10 pounds just looking. Yummy!! I love being able to buy assorted bagels and get what ever flavors I like. I wish this was closer to where I live.

I love to shop at Winco, they have prices that usually are unmatched. The stores are big but you can get in and check out quickly.

I buy most of my groceries at winco. Their everyday prices are better than the majority of sale prices at other grocery stores. I've never had a problem finding an employee to help me when I needed one. I also love being able to bag my own groceries so I don't go home with a bunch of squished items like I usually do when I go to other grocery stores.

I guess i'm a little more princessy than most. I found this cavernous store seemed a little overwhelming, dusty if not dirty and the fact that they did not take credit cards crazy! (i do have a membership to costco and never feel overwhelmed there, so it's not that) Who doesn't take credit cards? I had been recommended by a co-worker to go here since the prices were better. I found the prices on what I needed nearly equivalent to Albertsons. The staff was very friendly and were helpful when i indicated that had never been here and didn't realize it was cash only/debit card. All in all it works for some people, just not for me.

Clean store, with a great selection of everything you would want from a grocery store, or mass retail store like WalMart, and VERY friendly workers. Their prices are just OK, but the selection and cleanliness of the store make it worthwhile. Catch-22, they do not take credit cards, just cash or debit accounts.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Winco. Winco has stuff that I can't get anywhere else. However, this downtown location seems to cater to the no good dirty north end hippies who move with no sense of urgency. If I could Yelp the customers of Winco, they'd get a 1 out of 5. Winco itself and it's products help me over look the customers that help kill my existence.....

Boise's best supermarket chain. Homegrown and better than the other chain headquartered in Boise. Good selection of produce, meat and bulk foods. Friendly staff.

It was my first time to a WinCo, and I was impressed with the place. - Huge variety of trail mixes. - Much lower prices. - Opportunities to buy in bulk. They don't take credit cards and you bag your own groceries, but I'll take it for lower prices!

I love Winco and I don't know what I'll do without it if I move away from this area. Prices are amazing and I especially appreciate the bulk baking ingredients area - it's so nice to buy just a cup of flour, or just enough barley for one recipe. I also really like the guy who works in the produce department. If he's stocking the shelves as I'm being particularly selective about peppers or zucchini, he'll help me pick out the best ones. The only time to not shop there is Sunday night at around 9. I think this is when they restock the shelves and some of the popular items are frequently sold out. On another note, S&W tomatoes are probably the best I've had and they're cheapest here. If you haven't tried them out of concern that they may not be up to par because they're inexpensive, please give it a shot. This is the only brand where I'll eat a tomato right out of the can because it tastes fresh. As others have noted, Winco doesn't accept credit cards. I think I am alright with this minor inconvenience since my weekly grocery bill is about $30 here instead of $50 at Albertsons.

My boyfriend and I stopped by Winco for some snacks since we were driving from Boise to Las Vegas. I was really impressed with the selection. I am from LA and we have Costco here so I definitely thought the two were one in the same. WRONG! First of all, you need a membership to Costco and Winco does not charge for that. The company is actually employee owned so that is why prices were reasonable and credit cards were not accepted. Families, big and small, can definitely do well shopping here since they sell things in bulk and individually. I like that you have to do your own bagging because you have a choice to take their bags or bring your own.

This place has the best bulk foods section.

We're in the middle of a 9 day road trip, and we needed to stop in to stock up on some of our supplies. The prices & selection seemed pretty good, though I'm still boggling at the fact that they're "cake for two" is really "cake for 4-6". Maybe they mean two people can eat it over the course of two days? The people on the floor were friendly, and were helpful for us to find items in their gigantic store. The cashiers are friendly as well. And the store is open 24 hours! The main drawback to this store is that it's cash or debit card only. No credit cards.

Prices are amazing, which is why WinCo is the winning company. It will always be busy, especially on weekends or BSU games, but well worth the low grocery bill. The bulk foods is one of the best deals in the store. Produce isn't bad, you get what you pay for. They don't have hand baskets, but why would you use one anyway? Also they don't take credit, which I think is a plus with the economy the way it is. Cash, check or debit is the way to go when shopping for food. A real lifesaver for people.

Winco definitely beats out the competition in Boise. They have good prices, probably partly due to the fact that they don't take credit cards. The building is warehousey with concrete floors and metal racks, but very clean. The place is almost always busy. I've found that 7-9pm on weekdays is usually pretty good. The checkout lanes go fast, though. Since they can have two orders on their computers at once, it really saves time. You do have to bag your own groceries (another cost-saving measure). I've always preferred that as I can stuff as much as I want in a bag. They have a great selection of bulk items. The brown sugar isn't the best and some of the soft candies can be hard, but overall--awesome selection. Prices are good. I've compared it with Costco and really, for a few cents more with less hassle, I prefer WinCo. Veggie selection is decent. I can't complain too much. Sometimes the specials on in-season items are great. Their selection of juice brands is pretty limited. Hy-top and Langers are watery and not good. In fact, most of Hy-Top brand stuff isn't all that great. The meat department is alright. Watch some of the packaging, though. I've found a few packages with rips in the plastic. When I alerted an employee, they were super quick to get it fixed. Decent prices, though if you are a meat-a-tarian, Costco is a lot cheaper. Gotta love their selection of wines. Overall, good grocery store!
