I was excited to see they had one of my favorite sandwiches on their expansive menu, the Monte Cristo. I ordered one right up with my hopes held high. What was delivered to me fairly quickly and happily by the friendly staff did indeed look pretty good, if only a bit overcooked. Dusted with confectioner's sugar and served with some jam. The taste, however was horrible. The batter tasted bitter and rancid. There was ever so little turkey, ham and cheese on the sandwich one could hardly tell it was there. There was plenty of thick and tasteless bread, though. Not even the low-end store bought jam could help the flavor. I hoped that the iced-tea I had ordered would wash that rancid oil flavor out of my mouth, however the tea, too was not good. I had to throw my $10+ lunch away along with my hopes of finding this place as good as I had heard and read.

Went here for fries and soda and they gave my dog a treat!!! It was a little pricey and the food quality was moderate. They're a Pepsi carrier if that's important to other coke lovers like me.

Had the "zesty salad" it seemed to be a Cash&Carry salad mix with. Chopped jalapeño (seeds were not bothered to be removed) and drenched in oil. A pretty booring salad. Nothing interesting in it but cost $7.99. Will try other places first before coming back

We really enjoying coming to eat here. I love hearing the 50's music playing in the background as we enjoy a yummy burger, delicious shake, and crispy gems. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is due to price. They are a little on the high side. But overall great experience!

After three visits and three different salads I've eaten, this will become a regular east Boise lunch stop for me Great variety of food and good quality. Fingersteaks are not stringy or full of gristle, but are tender and delicious. I would rather they had more seasoning on the meat or the g but otherwise good. Mozzarella cheese sticks are breaded in house with an Italian style breadcrumb. Very tasty. Prime rib was delicious and cooked to the proper temperature. Salads, in small or large portions. I've tried the garden, chef and peanut chicken all were generous and satisfying. So far a great restaurant, now I'll have to try the original location on state street for a comparison to the original.

Yay Prime Rib! It was definitely an experience eating prime rib at s fast food place, outside. But definitely worth it!

The best service I've had. The person at the counter was very helpful navigating their huge selection. Everything looked so good I changed my mind several times. The location and building is fairly new so everything had a clean new look. My grilled cheese and chili was yummy. At first I wasn't sure about the chili because its thicker than most and uses lots of beef (not hamburger). I'm a coke person so the only bad thing to me is they serve pepsi products.

I had the Monte Cristo sandwich, and DANG, that thing was huge!! Very good food all around, and you can't beat the Prime Rib on the weekend. Even though this location isn't the original, it lives up to the legend that is Westside and Chef Lou.

Seriously fun place with great food. Had the firehouse burger and butterscotch shake. Asked if they would make buffalo onion rings which was not on the menu. They were phenomenal as well. Place was busy and our food was prepared quickly. An ideal location for family dining. Feels like you've jumped back a generation without over doing it. Don't forget to pin where you are from!

The food here is excellent, definitely worth the money! It's a fair price. We ordered the potato wedges with chili and cheese that were on special and it was made with a fresh potato and homemade chili! Not frozen, not canned! Delicious! And if you're looking for a homemade Ranch, you found it! Fresh and delicious comfort food!

My girlfriend and I both ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger and a large fry. The burger had an obscene amount, no wait, a comical amount of onions piled on it. It was as disgusting as it was wastful, and we both love onions. I wonder if anyone at West Side has actually tried the food they're serving. I wanted a little burger with my onions.

Can't believe this is only a mile from Grandma's house. Always stop here at least once every visit. Blackberry Blueberry milkshake seemed to be mixed with a highly addictive crack-like substance... Food is always great but they have too many (good) choices on the menu. Only having one stomach is a cruel joke here... Hope the ATF or DEA doesn't confiscate the milkshake machine...

Ate here last week for the first time! I would say the food is 9/10 and the service is 9/10 also, not perfect but pretty darn close!! We especially loved that we were Allowed to bring our dogs on the terrace. They enjoyed the experience also and the free dog treat! Will definitely be coming back, the sweet potato fries were amazing!

Ambiance: Big patio with live musician, nice! Cute 50's style indoor seating! Even a drive through! Also love the American flags around the patio! There was also an American flag toothpick in my husbands burger!! USA USA USA!!! Menu: Huge! Lots of options a little overwhelming! Service: Friendly & sweet! Food came out pretty quick especially how busy it was on a Saturday evening! Food: Both our meals came with fortune cookies, talk about fun! Philly Cheesesteak: Huge, hot, flavorful. Not the best I have had but not the worst! Teriyaki Burger: Husband really enjoyed it and said it was comparable to red robins bonsai burger. Tater tots: spot on! Mozzarella sticks: I didn't like but my husband did! Side salad with ranch: fresh lettuce, decent croutons, slice of tomato, slice of cucumber & above average ranch. Good size. Would order again! Idaho potato sundae: Adorable obviously! The novelty of it is why we ordered it... I'm sure a banana split or shake would have been even better. Overall a nice evening. I haven't found anything on the menu so far that has blown me away, but with how ginormous it is I am determined to find it!

Terrible service: Old lady taking orders is partly deaf and dismissive of customers. I wasn't done with my order and she cut me off. I pulled up to the window to continue my order and she was upset that I didn't mention it at the receiver. Then after I mentioned an item I wanted to order she closed the window to place it and didn't let me finish again. Never going back there again. State Street location has way better service. Too bad that Parkcenter is a great location, just absolutely terrible service.

Terrible service. Bbq bacon burger tasted terrible I literally had to take everything off it to try and salvage any taste to include relish, who puts relish on a bbq bacon burger then the 5 lbs of shredded lettuce had to take that off as well and to try and save the taste and not cause a scene I just put ketchup packets on it in which the ketchup tasted terrible. Basically a horrible "fast food restaurant" disguised as a diner. Not to mention the entitled girl who worked the front when I asked to grab me something told me to go inside and get it myself.

Talk about slow service. We will NOT go here again. The kids wanted Subway, but I wanted Westside so a couple of friends and I went over. We would have gotten faster service by going to a Dennys or out for pizza. The gal at the register was super slow; there were 3 people ahead of us and we waited 15 minutes to have our order taken. It took another 20 minutes to get our food. Needless to say our kids at Subway were wondering what happened to us Even my guacamole burger disappointed me. Really thin patty and very bitter onions. And there were a lots of them. My suggestion? Skip the over-priced food, slow as molasses service, and mediocre food and head to Subway where you are in and out in 5 minutes and the food is always great.

It's pretty cool to get to eat prime rib wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Normally, you have to cook it yourself to get away with this behavior. The prime rib wasn't top shelf but it was pretty good. It came with a salad and a loaded baked potato as well. I don't love my prime rib with rosemary (in general) but the flavor on this prime rib was good.

This was our first stop on Burgerpalooza, in search of the best burger in B-town. So, mainly this review is concerned with their burgers. Firstly, I must say that all participants of Burgerpalooza immediately agreed that this West Side (West Side on the East Side as we call it) seems superior to their location on State. This is weird, right? I don't know what the deal is. This location seemed to have a little fresher ingredients and the burger seemed to come out a bit hotter. Odd, I realize, but true nonetheless. Our motley crew of burger enthusiasts gave this place an average of 3.25 stars. So, a little over the a-ok mark but not quite to the yay, I'm a fan level. Their highest marks came in the "freshness" category. Their lowest marks came in the fries category (except for our beloved Cannonball Jack who somehow rated their fries a 9 on a 0-10 scale...but he was most certainly the exception). Other notes: Love that they have indoor seating at this location and the ambiance is fun with it's 50's-style-diner decor. The service was fast and courteous. They put a nest of shredded lettuce on their burgers that is a little overwhelming. They have fry sauce (Yay!!) and add a dab of it to their burgers (which I was unsure of and ended up enjoying well enough). Like their State Street location they have an expansive menu so if you've got a large group to feed, there is bound to be a little something for everyone. Overall, for the purposes of Burgerpalooza, a decent burger at a decent price.

Ordered the Maui burger and gems, huge portion! :) Should've ordered a small. The burger was bigger than my hand! Delicious and well worth the money! Third time I've been here, and I have never been disappointed.

Bought a tuna sandwich and it was "ok", bread was of the 50 cent a loaf variety and bland, mayo was slathered on both pieces of bread and was kind of to much for me considering mayo was already in tuna salad itself, It was pretty spendy for the quality I got, was pretty pissed about whole experience.

Okay, I'm pretty sure there is nothing Chef Lou can't do well. I can't give you a recommendation, because I've never had anything that wasn't great here. And the portions are above average, so beware. I will say one thing.... if you go to Chef Lou's to get a grilled cheese, don't expect a piece of processed cheese between a couple pieces of white bread. That's not Chef Lou. If you go to his diners, expect to have your taste buds engaged. There's a difference between MD & a fine wine. The same holds true at Chef Lou's. This is not the place to go, if you're looking for the same fare you can get from any other drive in. Open your wallet a little bit more and give your taste buds the treat they deserve.

We were INCREDIBLY disappointed in this place~ we ordered a variety of food from a burger and fries to stirfry to a milk shake to chicken sandwich~ needless to say we threw the majority of it away~ my significant other, who absolutely loves a good cheeseburger, said it was the worst one he has had in a long while. Several other friends that have tried it said they had bad food as well so apparently we didn't just hit them on an off day. As someone who eats out at a variety of establishments frequently, I simply cannot see how this place gets good reviews. We were looking forward to having it in the east end but unfortunately will not be dining there again.
