Chinese Cuisine
The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.
Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced lunch choice, this is a good place. Lunch specials are around $6 and are substantial. The food is freshly cooked and comes out nice and hot. It's Cantonese so a little more bland than usual Asian food. The service is good and prompt. The special yesterday was Chicken Chow Mein, Pork Fried Rice, and Sweet and Sour Chicken with a first course of Hot and Sour Soup. The latter I've had in other restaurants and I think the version here is better----spicy with a little more body! It's good to have a variety of foods in this little shopping strip on Chinden Blvd. And if you need a quick lunch, this is a healthy tasty option!

Have been eating here for 15-years, it's our Go-To Chinese restaurant in the area. The food is consistently very good and service is prompt. The lunch specials are priced very well without sacrificing quality / quantity. As for recommendations, I have had most everything they have on the menu and found it all to be good, can't go wrong with whatever you fancy.

My almond chicken tasted like fish. I still ate it. It's mediocre at best. I'd recommend going somewhere else.

Best hot and sour soup EVER!!! We have been getting take out here for years now. The owners are genuinely nice poeple. The food is very good.... best Chinese we have found in Boise.

The best Chinese food in Boise bar none. You can pay more but you will not find finer taste and quality.

We wanted to like this place -- it's close by, not a buffet, and obviously a mom & pop operation. The menu was the standard stuff but we weren't expecting innovative culinary masterpieces, just good basic weeknight Chinese food. Prices seemed about right for this type of restaurant. We had the place to ourselves (not a good sign, even on a Wednesday) and during our visit only one person stopped in for take-out. The hostess seemed nice enough, seated us promptly and came quickly to take our orders. We ordered an appetizer platter, wanting to sample a wide variety of their offerings, and two entrees. No tea was offered and we didn't ask. Portion sizes were ample, but the entrees arrived too soon after the appetizers, which is a big no-no in our books, making us feel rushed and forcing a decision whether to abandon the appetizers or let the entrees get cold. (Maybe they were overcompensating for the complaint about long wait times?) As for the quality, it's not that the food was assertively bad, just basically tasteless. A bit under-seasoned and oily. Nothing at all stood out. Honestly, we've had better Chinese food from the microwave. It gets 2 stars because they seem like decent people and because we reserve the single stars for food we just can't force down. This was edible...but we didn't bother taking home the leftovers. Our search continues.

Top Wok is a family-owned place, started and maintained by a wonderful Chinese immigrant couple. They are living the American dream, coming over with nothing, scraping up savings by working for others, then starting their own shop a couple decades ago. The wife manages the front, and her husband is the chef. The owners are quiet, gracious hosts that take pride in each and every dish that is served. We've seen their daughter through the years grow up as she'd play in one of the corner areas while her parents slaved away. I recall talking with the owner after about 5 years into their business, when the big Chinese Buffet moved in down the road. I asked her if she was worried, and she quietly answered, "No, people may flock there initially, but they will remember the quality they have had here, and come right back." She was right -- the big buffet was only here for 3-4 years, and then went out of business. The place doesn't look like much from the outside. The inside is simple, clean, and tidy. This is not a place with amazing ambiance -- it is a no-nonsense, practical setting to have a nice, high-quality meal and intimate conversation with friends. I've spent several a lunch with co-workers at Top Wok, solving the world's problems (haven't quite accomplished our objectives . . . yet). Top Wok dishes are cooked to order, with fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared. It comes to your table piping hot. My favorite is the Seafood with Tofu Clay Pot -- extraordinary. Their Won Ton Wor is hearty and tasty, and the Top Wok Special Fried Rice is exceptional -- my daughter's favorite. Top Wok can seem nearly vacant at times, but an observant person will notice the brink take-out business they do. When my family is a bit under-the-weather, Top Wok is on my go-to list to provide great "get-better" dishes.

Went to Top Wok around 7-ish on a week night, there were only two other tables in the restaurant, they had already eaten, but it still took us over 30 minutes to receive our entrees. Our server apologized over and over for the wait, but that seemed to irritate me more. The food was very mediocre, barely warm, just like the previous yelper indicated. Wouldn't go back, go to P.F. Changs instead, pay a slight bit more, but receive a much more phenomenal experience.

Strip-center location wedged between a deli sandwich place and a Pub. If I didn't have a cold I would have hit the pub for a cold one, but tonight figured I'd save the company a few $ and hit Chinese. How many Chinese restaurants are there in the US anyway? And how many have the word Wok in their name? Like its average, run-of-the-mill exterior look, the food at Top Wok is average, run-of-the-mill Chinese. Walking into a restaurant that is completely void of other diners at 7:30 pm is never a good thing, and often would cause me to reverse my tracks, but in this case it was a Thursday just a couple days after New Years and the restaurant is located right in the middle of a corporate park area and the hotel I'm staying is running at 20% occupancy so I figured it was empty because all the other corporate drones like me are smarter than me and still on vacation (so I guess I'm not like them?). But I digress. I walked in and the owner? at the hostess booth looked startled as I walked in. The place was empty after all, he was probably asleep! He quickly recovered and seemed genuinely excited to have a living customer. He called to the back and my server came out, presented me a menu, and after literally 30-seconds she came back and asked me if I was ready to order. I politely declined as I like to peruse menu's for their House Specials. None of them caught my eye so I went with a Hot and Sour cup of soup and Mu Chu (sp) beef. Now, ordinarily I'm a Mu Shu (sp?) pork kinda person, but what can I say, I guess I was feelin a little crazy and on the edge tonight! Whoah, I'm the only customer in here tonight, look out world!! Well, the cup of soup was barely warm, the pancakes with the Moo Shoo (sp?) were like none I have ever had before--really thin and tasteless, and the dish itself was quite bland. Its tough to judge a Chinese restaurant off of just soup and one dish, so I'm going to err on the side of caution and give them the benefit of the doubt and venture to guess that some of their main plates are better. 4 stars for value---lower than average prices 3 stars for atmosphere--standard booth/table set-up 4 stars for cleanliness--nothing scary here 3 stars for portion size---pretty standard 2.5 stars for flavor Overall, I would say that this is a restaurant to go to only if you are staying or working in the area and don't feel like driving anywhere else.
