Came here on a Saturday morning and it was pretty busy. We still got seated with in a minute or two. we started with a fresh fruit bowl that had strawberries, bananas, & peaches with a side of whip cream and powdered sugar, I've never had a breakfast appetizer but this is a great idea we loved it. I had the pecan pancakes and they were delicious! Even being stuffed I kept picking at them because i could not get enough. Husband had an omelet that was huge. The staff was very nice and we left stuffed and happy. Great breakfast place I would recommend it.

The food was good but extremely over priced. One one side of the table we had 3 pancakes, 2 eggs and bacon with a cup of coffee. On the other side we had 1 waffle, sausage and hash browns with a cup of coffee. That came to a grand total (with tax) of $28.05 I did ask and they did say it was right. The food was good but not amazing. It certainly wasn't worth $14 a plate. The quantity of food was also good but again, not worth the price tag. One of the meals was $7.99 on the menu. Leave the other one to be nearly $20. (Musta been one helluva waffle.) The staff was friendly but over-loaded. Sunday morning is a busy busy time. Three servers on hand just isn't enough. Still, friendly and personable. The food took a while but again it was busy. All in all, it was a fine place to eat and would have gotten a higher review but for the insanely high charges.

We've always loved The Original Pancake House back in Hawaii, and are so happy they opened a restaurant in Boise. Love the 49er flapjacks, dutch baby, crepes, and ridiculously good oven-baked apple pancake -- specialties that take pancakes to a new level. I'm a huge fan of the fluffy oversized omelettes and always end up taking half home with me. Roman and Shane are warm and welcoming, and truly care about the food and experience they are delivering to customers. You've gotta try this place.

Not impressed. Cramped seating, slow service, and overpriced ($3.79 for OJ; I had to pay extra to get toast with my corned beef hash and hash browns). The food was just average.

We were told it would be a 10 minuet wait for a table. 20 minuets later we were seated. There were dirty tables everywhere with no one resetting anything. Maybe if they cleaned them off people waiting could be seated promptly. Another 15 minuets later a waitress showed up for a drink order. If you order soda, lemonade, ice tea you will never get a refill (the menu says only one refill but good luck) The coffee was lousy! Another 15 minuets later she comes back with our drinks and takes a food order. We sit, wait and starve! 45 minuets we get our food. Pancakes of course it is the "pancake" house, Or should I say COLD STALE "PANCAKES" with raw sausage, a ham & cheese omelet (but they didn't add any cheese) So after a miserable hour and a half we get substandard food. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE PANCAKE HOUSE AND WOULD SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT GO THERE EITHER THE PLACE SUCKS!!!!

Opening Week Jitters? We were promptly greeted as we walked through the door and sat within seconds. The restaurant had a very clean and new feel with a large dining area. The staff was all very nice at first and made a great impression bringing us Hershey Kisses and wishing us a Happy Valentines Day once we were sat. The menu appeared to be the same as their previous locations, lots of specialty pancakes, omelets and traditional breakfast options. The coffee was great with and came with a small container filled with cream, a nice change of pace from the ridiculous little containers that don't ever provide the right amount.. I ordered the pigs in a blanket and my wife ordered the potato omelet. Food came out quickly and was hot when it arrived to the table. The pigs in a blanket were just OK, I'm not sure what I was expecting because it was in fact pigs in a blanket; however that's all it was, just pigs in a blanket. My sausage was questionably cooked, a little to pink in the center. My wife's omelet came less the one ingredient that may have been capable of turning it into a pretty good dish, bacon. How could you forget the one item that anyone with any sanity craves 22 hours out of the day?? The waitress and staff became a little tireless with ensuring our food was good and constantly refiling my almost full cup of coffee. OK, brings me to my next point. Why do they always have to screw up a perfect coffee mixture. Its an art and almost a lottery to achieve the perfect amount of cream to sugar ratio and once its attained you can almost bet that within seconds a wait staff member will be along to pour 1/2 oz. of coffee to top off my cup. I get it, its what they are supposed to do, but come on let me win just once with my coffee. Price was OK, food was OK, but I don't think that we will be changing from our regular breakfast restaurant Jerry's, anytime soon.

Great breakfast! We were amazed at the big, warm smiles on the staffs' faces. Lots of energy and entusiasm. Very welcoming for kids...a kids bookshelf by the door to reduce boredom while waiting. The Original Pancake House features all of the breakfast basics you expect...especially the namesake pancakes.

The seating is to cramped, we had to move the table to even be able to sit down, the food was not good. My crepes didn't even have a cream filling and they wanted to charge me $2.49 for whipped cream to put on them when I mentioned they didn't have a filling, that is completely overpriced! The blueberries on top were as small as elderberries, if you can't get good blueberries in the winter, take it off your menu! My friends omelet did not taste great either. The servers were arguing with the managers when I first got there, quite unprofessional. Won't return to this place or recommend it to anyone.

We have been back several times since discovering this place.. We pay for our own health care and don't require huge plates of tastesless food.. When we eat out we do have high expectations for the food that we order...tasty, hot, well cooked, served by efficient and happy folks in a clean and organized establishment. That is what you get here.... We order the 4.99 senior special.. The pancake is light, tasty and thin. The meats are of good quality.. The coffee isn't our favorite ( being Keurig snobs) and the nearly $2 seems a bit excessive when we can get a really good cup of coffee for the senior price of 58 cents and McDonalds. But- all and all.. it's a lot better than most of the breakfast places around.. and the team effort is quite successful.. We wish them well..

Food is excellent and fresh, good quality. The pancakes are very tasty, with bacon and scrambled eggs.(My favorite). Servers are friendly, and knowledgeble. Best time to get there is earlier. This place gets packed, people know a good deal.

Was really excited to try this place and finally got around to it (well my craving for pancakes practically forced me to go) I am going to write this review as an informative on what to expect. - A bit of a wait on the weekends but I had practically no wait, the place is small so it fills up super quick. They have a variety of eggs, omlettes, sides, and their signature pancakes (crazy variety). My service was pretty amazing as the menu is very confusing the server did not mind teaching me. I was looking for a good HUGE meal with the works and of course pancakes. When ever I try a new place I want to try as much of the food as I can, and that is what I did. My meal came our pretty quick and consisted of buscuits and gravy, 2 eggs, and buttermilk pancakes. Before I took a bite I could not help but notice 3 staff at tables eating as well, it did not seem like they were on break because they would get up and serve people as needed. Anyway back to the food... it came out hot YAY! Eggs were cooked perfectly, buscuits and gravy had a heavy buscuit and the gravy was good but tasted of over powering salt and sour cream. This bummed me out as I am a connoisseur of this dish and was really looking forward to it, sadly most dissapointing for me was the pancakes. My buttermilk ones had a funny after taste that can only be compared to licking a piece of metal, I will deff give them the benefit of the doubt and try another flavor some other time. All in all a visit here will run ya about $12 for breakfast + tip for decent breakfast food. My score is more for the service rather than the food, I could easily see you having a frustrating wait, cold food items, and confusing time ordering from the menu. If you are okay with those things then go ahead and give this place a try, don't forget to take pics.

Ordered the Monterey Jack and green chiles omelette. It had a very light flavor and a little too much cheese (which I removed some of) and definitely had to eat it with the salsa it came with to add some kick. French toast was simple and good but a little too much butter. Decent breakfast and pretty inexpensive (than what I'm used to in LA). I would come back to try some of their other options if I'm ever back in Boise...

I was in the market, this cold March morning, for a hot tasty and filling breakfast- The Original Pancake House did NOT disappoint!! As per my usual, this review gets three stars. Not because there was anything lackluster about my experience, but because it gives me an opportunity to return in the future and perhaps add more stars. I arrived during a lull in morning service. This was great because I did not feel the need to rush through looking around, and taking in the menu which has many choices on it. My server Christine was appropriately welcoming and perky-and when I told her it was my first visit she was of course more than happy to answer any questions I might have and give me plenty of time to make my selection. I finally settled on the Irish omelette which contains corn beef hash and cheddar cheese, and because my omelette had potatoes with in it I elected for pancakes as my side paying an additional two dollars to upgrade to one of the many options of pancakes beyond buttermilk. I chose Pecan. As I waited for my order, I took a few pictures, checked Facebook, and took time to enjoy the steaming hot cup of coffee that had been placed before me. Their coffee mugs are delightfully original, and if not for the fact that I already own enough coffee mugs to caffeinate a small nation I likely would have purchased a mug on my way out. The coffee brand here is Boyds, brewed fresh and strong. A tip here, if you prefer your coffee a little on the later side, be sure to ask for cream and be prepared to send it down just a touch. The interior of The Original Pancake House is a bit Spartan, however it is warmly painted and still manages to be welcoming. I cannot say as much for the chairs, they are the hard straight back wouldn't variety that don't invite for any prolonged resting of the buttocks . With tile floors, and large windows the space was, at least this morning, a bit on the chilly side which made me glad that I had opted to leave my hoodie on. When Christine brought my food, I literally said wow out loud, actually I believe the actual word was wowzers! It is well known by anyone who spends any time with me that I am a big eater, however those of you with a more shall we say, normal size stomach should be prepared to take home a doggy bag. My pecan pancakes were beautifully golden brown and dusted with powdered sugar served on a separate plate from my Irish omelette. I was also left with a small picture of warmed syrup. At first glance my omelette definitely appeared to be overcooked, because it was. However given that it was jampacked with corn beef hash and cheddar cheese it is obvious that the extra cooking time was required. When Christine set down my plate I thought it first it may have been a mistake because this omelette didn't look like any other I have ever eaten, it looked more like a small loaf of sourdough bread. Not because of the color but because of the size . other than my omelette being a bit dry on the edges and of course being a little bit overcooked the only other issue I had is that the way the omelette have been folded I manually had to move melted cheese on to the corn beef once I cut into it in order to blend the flavors together. When I return again to eat here I will see if A different kind omelette comes from the kitchen in the same manner. As the restaurant begin to fill, I watched the graceful ballet of servers busters and the hostess getting folks welcomed seated and served. My coffee cup never ran empty, my water was also regularly refilled. I especially appreciated how the busser made regular, yet inconspicuous tours of the dining area to make sure things were kept clear. When it came time for the check, I was pleased to find that it was not a printed receipt but I handwritten ticket, where all of The charges had been totaled at the bottom including the tax. I don't often go out for breakfast, my husband does not care for pancakes waffles or French toast, and has some sensitivity to eggs. So when I get an opportunity to go out I enjoy trying new places, especially now that I use Yelp it's much easier and I appreciate patronizing local businesses. I will go back to this location. Since this restaurant appears to primarily please folks in the breakfast arena I will likely not test that theory by coming for any other type of meal. This was an amazing start to a clear, sunny and cold Friday in March. If you're looking for a freshly cooked, stick to your ribs, if you leave hungry it's your own damn fault breakfast give the Original Pancake House a try

My third visit food is awesome I ordered the meat lovers omelet had to take some home. Great service from from the host to the serving staff. I had to tell my sister how good it was. I live in Nampa but well worth the drive. Next time I'm ordering something with bacon I saw a serving on the neighbors table looked delish.

The Original Pancake House serves up a decent breakfast at bargain prices. I've been here a couple of times. This last time, I ordered their corned beef hash and was pleased to find that the corned beef was hand carved and fresh (rather than the canned mush that some places serve and call corned beef hash!). With your entree, you have the choice of hash browns or pancakes. I had the buttermilk pancakes, which were tasty and really the highlight of my meal. Everything was very fresh and the service was prompt and friendly. And, our meals came out at mach speed! Overall, though, I wasn't wowed. Both times I've come, I've ordered savory dishes and I'm wondering if this is a place that would be better to go for waffles, crepes, or pancakes (it IS called The Original Pancake House). I noticed on their menu that they have Sourdough Flap-Jacks, which sounds like something I could definitely dig so I'll have to head back and try those. Until then? 3 stars it is.

We just moved to Boise from Ca.... We Lovvved our Poway Original Pancake House... And didn't think we would find one out here... We are Sooo glad we were wrong! We've only been in Boise a few weeks... And have already been to the Original Pancake House 2xs!! We Love the friendly staff and incredible food!! 49er flapjacks are the same as they are in Ca!! Consistency is hard to find nowadays!! OPH is our go-to breakfast spot!

Bringing friends and family to the Pancake house is always a plus. The food is delicious, reasonably priced and always served with a smile. Even on long waits, they try to accommodate everyone's needs.

Do you know how it makes me feel to give a chain 5 stars? The food is always delicious and quick. The service is always cheerful and efficient. And I have always been able to get in when the waits at other good breakfast places has been over an hour. Highlights, the (super pulpy, like eating a liquid orange)OJ is bomb! Sourdough pancakes and thick bacon.

I am a repeat customer and I there isn't enough word spaces to write how much I love Original Pancake House. The staff, once again, was on top of it and super friends at 6:30am. I love seeing the same faces when we visit. I've recently tried the Canadian bacon, as I already love the regular bacon. Both are now a favorite. I think the pancakes are best served with coconut syrup or the homemade strawberry syrup. It is hard to pick a favorite. We just love OPH.

The Original Pancake house was awesome. We got there early on a Sunday morning and almost had the whole place to ourselves. I had the green chile and cheese omelet with pancakes. Seriously, the best pancakes and inlets that I have had in a very long time. I highly recommend this place for breakfast.

I was hungry this morning and was thinking about breakfast when I thought about the pancake house. this place is simply amazing when you order you definitely get your money's worth here. The breakfast that you get here is well worth it and your taste buds will not be disappointed what so ever. There was no line when I walked in the door and I was able to get seated right away. The staff here is super friendly and they enjoy talking with the customers which is a plus compared to other places I have been. After ordering it did not take more than 10 minutes for me to be able to get my food and start eating. I ended up getting the house special pancakes and they are huge and you get a very good amount. I highly recommend this place to anybody who comes in with an appetite or just somebody that wants to try something delightful and new for an experience. I love the Original Pancake House and so will you. Feed your morning appetite by coming here your stomach will thank you.

I cannot believe I have lived in Boise for almost a year and am just now discovering this gem.. I've come two weekend in a row and plan many more trips.. Love their potato omelette its huge, macadamia nut pancakes are my absolute fave, for the moment.. I've found a new favorite every visit!!

Great bacon and great OJ. I ordered a plane waffle, bacon, 1 glass of OJ. $16! U get 4 huge thick slices of bacon, if you're looking to kill yourself then by all means spend the $5 for your bacon. The waffle was flat and just didn't look appealing. This meal was over priced. If I go back and my experience is different id be glad to change my review.

First time here and it's a busy day... but just because it's Mothers day it doesn't mean you trow customer service out the window... I called in to find out how long of a wait and the lady who answer was very rude. When I came in to put my name on the list the cashier had answer an other call in front of me and her attitude was annoyed. It took an hour to be seated and once we where seated our waiter was very polite, but he came by to bring the table next to us there food Wichita they where here after we got here and he came by with coffee but didn't even turn around to see if I needed a refill I had to wait till he came back around to ask.. I also notice an other server an other server but just cuz I wasn't her table she didn't even bother to see if I needed a refill.. My omelette wasn't what I expected it had so much cheese and a looked a big ball of eggs.. overall I wasn't very satisfied with this place. I might give a second chance when they aren't to busy or a holiday. But I wasn't impress with the customer service or the quality of food. Oh the pancakes where delish... that's about it of good in the place.

My decaf coffee was fresh brewed! Woohoo! Pancakes: husband said "the best he has had in a long time" he was very pleased! French toast: very good, I want more! Hash browns: simple & spot on Bacon: thick Ham: thick Scrambled eggs: pretty standard and nicely cooked Will be back!!!

I have heard raves about this place for years, and all I can say is that this place is overrated. On a Sunday morning, the wait was only about 10 minutes (+), but the hostess and waitress were barely more than polite (-). I could probably count on two hands the number of words either one spoke to us. The manager was walking around talking to and checking up on folks (+), but my husband and I were literally the only ones in our dining area he didn't speak to, despite walking past our table many times (-). My husband ordered the Irish omelette (loaded with cheese and corned beef) with a pancake, and I got the green chili and pepperjack omelette with 'house fries'. Both omelettes were pretty large portions (+) , but EXTREMELY bland and not very well mixed (-). The pancake was salty, but a good size. The potatoes, despite being not exactly what I thought they'd be (I'm just saying, I wouldn't call potato squares fried with bell peppers and onions "house fries"), were the BEST part of the meal. Perfectly cooked, and wonderfully seasoned, they were the only part of the meal that I felt was worth the money. Speaking of which, the coffee, although strong and tasty, was very overpriced. Overall, I give this place a 2, and with so many other small-time and chain breakfast places around, I won't be coming back.

  • David E.

I'm fussy about breakfast places. I have to say, I don't know of a better place to go. Service is super fast, the portions are the right size and everything tastes fresh. The home fries are not super greasy like other places, the scrambled eggs are always cooked perfectly, bacon is thick and cooked right and the pancakes are awesome! We have been there a couple of times and I have not been disappointed. Forget the big impersonal chains. For a great LOCAL place, come here.

We have been here 3 times now and each time was a new experience. The first time I had bacon pancakes. I know right (mind blown) great. The second i had buttermilk and the third silver dollar all great. My wife has tried other things and was pleased at all of them. Great friendly staff and excellent breakfast.

This is the best place for breakfast! OK! PEOPLE I want to make sure everyone gets this!!! Yes... Sometimes their is a big waiting list. Yes.. Sometimes the service may be slow. Yes... Sometime its loud. Yes... Sometimes it's crowded. But theirs a reason for that! Theirs a waiting list sometimes becuase people love the food! Theirs noise sometimes becuase theirs so many people eating there becuase they all love the food so much! If you don't like noise, or waiting, or even better yet waiting for good food. Well I suggest you go to a McDonalds drive through grab a Calorie monster artery clogger bigMac and be on your way. Without any noise besides the speaker! How amazing is that!?! And the price is so good! Their isn't ONE THING OVER $10.00 not ONE! Ihope Denny's you name it more expensive and their stuff is made FROM SCRATCH! And isn't actually all Freash! Another thing! I hate bacon, and waffels! And I love theirs!! And Ihops chocolate pancakes, blueberry pancakes, all that kind of stuff it's always soggy and way to sweet! Not at the OPH It's perfect! You get the taste and it's not soggy! So that's my small review! If you want good food and have some patients, I'd recommend this place to any one!

went during the week and it wasn't super crowded, but people were there. Our server was really awesome and hilarious. She had us rolling and was great explaining the menu options since it was our first time there. He had the Denver Om and I had the mushroom one and they both were really really good. Cook was on point and the wait for the food was reasonable. I would return and try something else. my food was really good I didn't even want to stop to take a pic.

  • Jordan H.

The food is excellent, especially, of course, the pancakes. My server was friendly, but hardly attentive at all, which was surprising, as I was there right after opening time on a Sunday and there were maybe three other diners. The prices on the food were as I expected, but the beverages where a bit hefty. Over 3 dollars for a tomato juice which I am almost certain was V8. Overall a good experience, and probably more so with a family or group.

I once felt empty inside. So cold and lonely was that deep, seemingly bottomless abyss. I tried to cure it with wealth, music, buffets and delicous yet very unmanly drinks. Nothing could fill it. A very large family style chinese dinner came close once, but no cohiba... Until the day I walked into the Original Pancake House. I found fluffy, perfectly cooked pancakes the size of my head, piled high. A moist omelet overstuffed with green chiles and cheese, paired perfectly with tabasco. An apple souffle-like pancake, glazed with cinnamon, fresh from the oven... sitting in the middle of our table waiting to be torn to shreds by young children... and me. Fresh orange juice tastes oranges! Although, sometimes the oranges themselves do not taste that good in the first place. The bacon is really really really good! Thick, gourmet bacon! I loved everything about the meal. I don't know when I will ever be hungry again?

I agree with another reviewer "High priced & slow service" They weren't busy, it was a Friday morning. The waitress took forever coming to get our order. Then it took forever for the food to come out. Food was just okay, but nothing special.

  • TheStranger 2.

After being highly recommended as a great in breakfast experience , I found the Original Pancake to be mediocre at best. The wait was long, the food pricey and the portions minuscule. My wife ordered the Swedish Pancakes for well over $7 and got two. The waitress brought out two more subsequently. Not sure if you get two or four. I ordered the Ham and Eggs. While the ham was tasty, again, nothing to rave about and very small portions. I did notice some "specialty" items on the menu. But they took over 25 minutes to cook. Went there once. Won't go back.

  • Alexander J.

Over-priced, slow service. It took 5 minutes to get a seat at 9am, with the restaurant half empty; wait staff was invisible for 15 minutes after I was seated. The food was no different than McDonald's; thoroughly unremarkable. I'll never spend my money here again.

I visited Original Pancake House earlier this week, and the food was amazing! Many go here just for the breakfast, but the lunch is GREAT too. I started with a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice, and it was so refreshing. Many times places claim "fresh squeezed juice" but it's not really. The orange juice at this place is legit. I ordered an OPH club sandwich, and it came with a generous portion of thick & crispy bacon (other restaurants sometimes skimp on this delicious meat!). The sandwich also came with a delicious bowl of tomato soup - probably one of the best I've had. The server, Lance, was courteous and funny.
