Delicous sushi. They even had a fresh bottle of gf soy sauce. Great saki selection.

I read a review that placed this as one of the top 10 sushi places in the US. Hard to believe as this was some of the worst sushi I have ever eaten. Chicken broth based miso soup....what a joke. Edamane that was so over salted you could not eat it. And whatever that stuff was rolled up to look like sushi with all of those spicey and sweet sauces. I have to wonder if the owner and the person doing the review have ever actually had real sushi. Isn't the point of sushi the sweet fresh fish and toasty rice flavors? If I wanted something over sauced I would have gotten Chinese food! Spent most of the evening looking for the Imodium battle. This place is trash.

Visiting Boise from Texas and Yelp directed me and came through. I had 4 pieces of nigiri and the Kamikaze roll. My buddy had the Crazy Hawaiian roll (he says he highly recommends it). The atmosphere is very unique. It is downstairs of an older building in a row of restaurants. The service was prompt and the meal was excellent. If I ever do return to Boise, I will be back. The sushi presentation was interesting and worked with the design of the restaurant. Everyone around me looked pleased with their meal and after eating mine, I can see why. Drop on by. Remember, gotta go into the building and then downstairs.

Superb never disappoints me! Really good rolls and fresh ingredients. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I really want to get into the sushi rolling class and have inquired twice... I never got a call back about it :(

YUM! BUT that service though! Food was excellent, filling, and delicious if slow (understandable as they have to craft each roll). The pictures that people have posted here are a true picture of what the beautiful sushi looks like! Our server though looked unkempt and didn't give us any kind of utensils or do much other than talk to us pretty slowly and a bit condescendingly. There was a thing of chopsticks and forks on a separate table and I found myself running back and forth to grab things for my family! I am also sad that they only have unlimited sushi only two days a week, but they seem to have other good deals for the other days! It was pretty gross but also understandable that they had a few flies buzzing around. The doors were open with no way to keep them out. Maybe they could put up a few fans? We wandered around for a while trying to find the place as well, you have to go either through the Idaho building or around the back and then down some stairs to find it! Don't be discouraged if you see the sign but no sushi! All in all, great sushi, a little lacking in service (I am a bit more critical just because I was once a server myself..sorry!)

If you are looking for traditional sushi don't come here. Superb sushi calls itself the "The Ultimate Untraditional Sushi" and it lives up to the name. Try the Hawaiian Roll for something sweet. Service was awesome also.

Good food and overall very tasty rolls. The service was very prompt and attentive, on this evening there were multiple large groups seated and the wait staff had no issues keeping up with all the orders. The only letdown in my opinion was the seating was very high and they did not have boosters available for my 5 year old.

Yum yum yum! American spin on Sushi that is exceptionally well-done! Just reading the menu was entertaining! They served us miso soup (typically not a favorite thing of mine) and I really enjoyed it! I ordered the Hawaiian Roll which was ahhh-mazing! (picture posted) It looks more like a dessert roll! Straight from the menu: Tuna and cucumber topped with pineapple, a special Hawaiian wasabi whipped cream and sweet hot sauce The wasabi whipped cream was to die for! Never had anything like it! Additionally, there is cute outdoor, subterranean type seating area If there is one down side it may be that service is a little rough around the edges. ex: I asked for water and he pointed to a pitcher that had lemon and water in it suggesting I help myself

Exceptional! We just found our new favorite sushi place in Boise. The $!*#! Amazing Roll lived up to hits name. The Hawaiian Roll was a rich blend of different flavors that surprised me. Wasn't too sure about whipped wasabi and pineapple but it was delicious. Friendly service and relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait to go back to try the rest of the menu. It's downstairs below the Idaho Building so you have to look for it. But's worth the look!

Came later at about 8, ordered the sukafish & Hawaiian roll. Both we about $13-$14, wayyyyy too much. Fish seemed like it was on its last day, & shrimp tempura was too thick and soggy. Overall just low quality sushi that's way overpriced. Maybe it would be better at a different time, but I won't be back

In town for a one day business meeting. It's lunch time where are we going for lunch? My associates asked if I love sushi. I'm born and raised in Hawaii and moved to San Diego...of course I love sushi. We drove into downtown Boise and it reminded me of the Gaslamp District in San Diego but it was much more cozier. We walked through a building and walk down a flight of stairs, I was teasing my associate Dave and asked where is this sushi joint in the basement? At the bottom, I felt like we were in a mini atrium once we took a turn. I noticed that fish and items they used were fresh. They also sold Smoked Wild Salmon. I decided on ordering the Caterpillar Roll and Japanese Bagel. The server brought out my rolls and the plating of it was beautiful. It included a slaw like salad, like somen salad and that was really good. I had a taste of the Smoked Salmon, it was moist and tasty. Never thought I would have "Superb Sushi" in Boise Idaho!!!!

I came for lunch, and the atmosphere was fairly relaxed. I ordered the sashimi sunflower: not the best I've ever had, but not the worst. It was sliced very thinly. I forget the name of my roll, but it had avocado on top. Also good, but not superb. The real failure here is the service. I understand the fast food setup for ordering, but when someone says "we'll bring out some miso soup for you" I expect it to show up before my entree. I was asked by the waitress "Did you still want the soup?" when she brought my dish. What? When did I indicate otherwise? Apparently, table drink service just doesn't happen (at least at lunch). After my food was brought out I realized I had not been given any water. I asked the kitchen if I was supposed to help myself, which turns out to be the case. Would have been nice to know ahead of time. If you're going to operate a sushi restaurant like a fast food joint, then at least charge fast food prices.

Amazing food! Great atmosphere with attentive staff that is knowledgable about their food. The price is what you would expect for sushi, but even the quality of the sushi and the staff makes the price a steal for what you get. Cannot speak highly enough of this restaurant!

I've eaten at a lot if sushi restaurants and this was really sub par in comparison. The rice was falling apart on my roll and the miso was tasteless, it almost reminded me of the time I accidentally ingested hot tub water...yuck. The flavor of the roll wasn't bad which is why I am giving this two stars instead of one.

It's been awhile since I've been here and I can't figure out why. Definitely some of the best sushi at a very reasonable price. The quality and quantity make Superb a no brainer if you are in the mood for sushi! We had the Dragon's Breath, Life Is Good, and the Hawaiian. All were very good and the tuna they use is far and away the most tender and dark pieces I have seen anywhere in town, none of the chopped up mystery ahi here!! We have no problem recommending Superb!

Always on the quest for good sushi - Superb Sushi does a great job. We've visited a few times now, and are especially fond of the Insane, ?#@!* Amazing, Kamikaze, and the Life is Good rolls, with green tea ice cream for dessert (with wasabi whipped cream - yum!) Getting there is the trickiest part, as they're downstairs (go inside, past Baguette Deli, stairs are on the left). The dining area is bright and airy, very casual and comfortable. Service is quick and friendly. My only criticism is that it's hard to avoid the ever-present tempura shrimp...but this isn't limited to Superb - every restaurant in town is guilty. We are repeat visitors now - consider this to be one of the better spots in the downtown area.

This would be a good place if you like "sushi", mayonnaise, and industrial heat lamps. Nothing spectacular about the quality of the fish; didn't really like the unagi (which is something I really look for). Also, their menu is all an attempt at a kind of unidentified fusion: red peppers in the spicy tuna, lemon sauce (mayonnaise), and whatever their Asian Slaw business is that somehow happened upon my plates a lot (more mayonnaise?). I felt like the main concern here was presentation. (In fact, we ordered the Ultimate Salmon & Scallion Bowl with "yakisoba"* sauce and noodles, asked for it without scallions, and received it with a whole decorative scallion on it, with the waitress apologizing for it by saying the cooks had to "show off" or something.) *By the way, it isn't yakisoba. It's more mayonnaise. On that note, there's a whole lot of mayonnaise at this place, even if the roll description doesn't mention it. And warning -- if you go, in the winter months, at least, don't sit at the tables near the entrance. There are one too many heat lamps pointed in your direction. Ultimately, I just found the food to be pretty weird. Not really of a fan of the decor either, but that's besides the point. If you'd like some sushi that isn't as tampered with and better quality, try Sushi Ya.

First time in Boise. Great meal and service from a server that was very attentive & helpful. I read the other reviews so walked past a few other sushi places to get there - well worth it. They were slammed with business on a Tuesday night so getting the meal was slow - great for me since I like to take my time at dinner but understand that others don't feel the same which is the only reason I didn't give 5 stars. Server Alexa was fantastic so suggest asking for her. Will be back next time by travels bring me to Boise.

Being an Los Angeles native, sushi is apart of my diet. It has taken me forever to find a perfect sushi place in Boise, and after a MAJOR failed attempt at Yoitomo, I thought there was no hope. Superb Sushi has totally changed my mind! Every single roll sounded so yummy, it took my friend and I forever to decided on what we wanted. The service was great and I actually loved the atmosphere. There was live music and the space was very intimate. I had the kamikaze roll and the whale's tail roll, and my friend had a regular california roll and and sumo roll. I really loved each roll, with the kamikaze being my favorite. The fish in each roll was also extremely fresh! This is my new favorite spot and I'm pretty sure I won't be trying sushi anywhere else.

Open for dinner Mon-Sat until 9PM. That Insane roll with the habenero was a godsend when I needed something healthy on a dinner break, this cold frozen night. I'm glad I had this alternative instead of grabbing a slice. They are fast. By the time you wash your hands, it's done.

I wanted to try this sushi place out. I saw it a few times hiding behind the buildings in downtown. I'm not a huge fan of seafood or raw fish but I needed to give this place a try. I expected them to have the typical California roll , I usually get this if I'm afraid of trying "raw" fish, but I didn't see any on their menu. Their menu was pretty small but I'm not gonna lie, this place was great! The sushi were more of a "specialty" dish. I don't exactly remember what the dish was called but it was freakishly good. It was sushi that had pineapple and wasbi whip cream, i think? I know that sounds weird but It was pretty good. (Don't knock it till you try it) . I got a tempura bowl and oh my gosh. good! Its nicely decorated with all sorts of flavor and side of avocados. Like I said, I'm not the seafood type (especially shrimp) but dang, this place did change my mind on tempura! haha The environment had a nice vibe to it : soft mellow music playing - a great place to just eat and relax. I would come back to this place! For sure!

Best sushi in Boise for sure. I stopped eating at sushi restaurants here in Boise because nothing was fresh and they went way to heavy on the rice in pretty much every restaurant I went to. Superb Sushi gets it right. Rolls are original and very tasty for a reasonable price. All of the fish is fresh and the beer selection is also good. Overall, excellent sushi for a great price.

I hit up Superb Sushi at least once a week for lunch. The lunch special is unbelievable, especially if you're a casual sushi eater. It comes with three or four slices of three different types of sushi, a noodle salad, a sweet rice pocket, and miso soup, all for about $8! Their rolls are ginormous and tasty! Miso is average. Sashimi is fresh and generously portioned. Superb Sauce is good alternative to soy sauce. Great selection of beverages. If there isn't something on the menu, ask - the staff and owner are very accommodating, friendly, and generally fast (I've been there when it's packed, and it gets crazy)! I like the basement atmosphere, very casual - almost like a secret. Superb is generally clean, and the staff works hard to clean tables for incoming patrons. The patio furniture is a little uncomfortable (and inefficient space-wise) to sit and eat from, but that it is my only complaint.

Dubya R.
The service was so bad I took it down two stars. Get only takeout here. Sushi was fine, but unlike most other sushi places in town, there's nearly nothing for vegetarians (I only went because I was part of a large group and had no choice). There was no veggie tempura, for example (though there's shrimp tempura), and only one or two veggie rolls. My fellow diners did seem to like the sushi, and I have friends that rave about this place. Waitstaff, however, seemed to barely tolerate us. We had to fetch our own extra seats and our server seemed annoyed when we asked questions about the menu. I'm a pretty friendly, forgiving patron, and have been a server myself, so I was shocked that he couldn't get it together to be merely polite.

Been coming here for years. A good deal, friendly staff, quick service. What more could you want?
(4)
Brian H.
Truer words were never spoken than what Dubya said., so I'll just repeat it: Service sucks. Get only takeout. The sushi here truly defines the "Meh" on the two-star scale. In a city with no sushi that I would consider above average, it provides a fix just adequately enough, and the ability to easily order takeout (albeit more often from the Bogus Basin location for me) or buy their packaged rolls at the Co-Op makes them convenient more than anything else. After our experience on a Saturday afternoon, that's what I'll continue to do. We decided to sit down on this occasion. There was one staffer working maybe four other tables. She services the other tables for five minutes and proceeds to make eye contact with us. I expected a menu or a "Be right with you" at any moment then. Instead, she SITS DOWN at one of the tables and starts chatting! Are you kidding me?! We bolted up out of our seats like we were sitting on hot coals without even saying a word or looking at each other. There's no way that girl was getting a cent out of me. Immediately I thought of Dubya's review, and I thought to myself: "You were right, man. Or woman." Must be something in the water there that the servers drink. I can't get a steady non-temp job in the city but the servers here can slide by with possibly the lousiest "service" I've had since I moved here.

Creative and great quality. It wasn't cookie cutter in your roll options and everything was really good. The service was super fast and friendly servers. We had three rolls, all huge along with fresh nigiri and seaweed salad. Along with some beer and house sake, we were very satisfied when we left. I would eat here again. I just wish they would not use imitation crab as others have said.
(4)
Mckinsey S.
Inventive, priced just right and soooo good. Fortunately, I've never had any service issues like some of the other reviewers. I would definitely recommend this to sushi fans who want to try something a little more unique than your typical sushi bar. I personally love the patio, it's very 'urban dining'
(4)

The staff was friendly and the food was just OK but priced right. This place is located downstairs near Old Stone Creamery and takes some effort to find. If you are expecting a "sushi ambiance" forget it. I have had better sushi even in Boise.

I'm not going to lie to you, we chose to go to Superb Sushi based solely on the fact that it hadn't been reviewed yet. It was quite the adventure just getting to the restaurant, as its not directly off of the street but rather in the bowels of a building on the corner of 8th and Main. We ordered 4 rolls and edamame as an appetizer; miso soup was included with the meal. The sushi seemed fresh, but the tempura roll we ordered was a bit tough and chewy. Aside from that, the rolls were a visual delight. They were presented on a large and colorful platter with little wasabi flowers placed on the side. It was kind of like we were eating a sushi playground, with all the colors and shapes working together to give our eyes some much needed playtime during Boise's recently dreary weather. Not the best tasting sushi I've ever had, that's why they don't get 5 stars. But certainly some of the funnest. Don't forget to try the Superb Soy-Sauce, a house made spicy version of the regular stuff.
(4)
Tara R.
If my husband were ranking Superb Sushi it would have gotten all 5 stars. This is his hands-down favorite place to eat in Boise. They do a nice job with the extras (miso soup & cabbage salad with all sushi) and the presentation is delightful indeed. They've nailed colorful and playful. Even the decor is patio-ware fun. My main hesitation (other than the somewhat lacking sushi itself) is the sauce. Not the Superb Soy Sauce (do try it) but all the many, other sauces decorating the rolls, like they were trying a little too hard.

Great Sushi for a great price. Every roll I've had has been wonderful and the accompanying Asian Cole slaw is a new favorite of mine (non goopy and crispy ingredients).

Superb Sushi rules! The rolls here are not your traditional sushi house fare, but they're really fresh and beautifully presented. The space itself is worth checking out, the dining room is in a giant atrium with tropical plants and super high ceilings. I have never had anyone there be anything less than friendly and helpful with me, also a huge plus in my book. Sushi places can be a little stuffy for me, this place is anything but. The lunch special is a killer deal, and they do all-you-can eat a couple nights a week. They also have a sushi challenge (I love this but have not yet tried) where if you can eat 4 of one of their big rolls in under an hour they're all free, you get a t-shirt, and they put your picture on the wall. It's a little tricky finding this place the first time but it's totally worth the hunt, go soon and often!

Our favorite Boise sushi by far. It's priced right (you get a lot of roll for your money!) and offers some interesting variations. If you're looking for traditional sushi this might not be the place for you, but they bill their sushi as "untraditional." You also get miso soup and a great cabbage/noodle salad included in your order. It's a wonderful place to eat since you get tons of natural light, and they open the patio doors in the summer so you can stay inside but still get some fresh air. I absolutely love the firecracker, and their spicy tuna is delicious and beautifully presented. They also have a fantastic lunch special that includes samples of three rolls and a dessert. :)

The building is unique but it is kind of a maze to find. The food is so/so but the Spicy Tuna Roll is killer!

Great location- once I found it. Look inside the building and downstairs in the courtyard. ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHI on Mondays and Tuesdays- the good rolls too!

(4)Mckinsey S.
Inventive, priced just right and soooo good. Fortunately, I've never had any service issues like some of the other reviewers. I would definitely recommend this to sushi fans who want to try something a little more unique than your typical sushi bar. I personally love the patio, it's very 'urban dining'
(4)Steve M.
The staff was friendly and the food was just OK but priced right. This place is located downstairs near Old Stone Creamery and takes some effort to find. If you are expecting a "sushi ambiance" forget it. I have had better sushi even in Boise.

Great sushi! Great prices! Try the Firecracker roll

(4)Tara R.

One time is all I need at this place, do not wast your time and money. Service sucks, food is below average
