I like their IPA, and the salmon tacos were tasty with the mango salsa. They sell 10 oz pours if you don't want a whole pint. You can sit indoors or outside.

Love this place.....Love the beer out of the tap...Should consider going to glass bottles . Food is really good. Avocado BLT, Egg Rolls (Unique), and the soups are done with a lot of love. My kids can run around and can be loud, it is cool. But this is not why I gave 5 stars...It is the servers, all of them are great, knowledgeable....simply ask them what to order, it is how I role! Clam Chowder.....My Family's favorite and we are picky!

Love it here. Great sunday $10 pitchers and good atmosphere. Service can be great but then horrible depending on the crew. But those who know us always greet us with a smile and a beer without even asking.

The food was good, the beer was great (I went for the happier IPA's and Pale Ales). We were at the original Sockeye, haven't been to the new place in Meridian. But I would definitely go back though.

They brew all their own beers which is great. Unfortunately they do not have a lot of just regular domestic beers ex. Coors bud etc. if give the food a 4/5 good fish sandwich. Also great place to grab a beer on the patio after work in the summer

I have been there 3 times now, the beer is good, the food not so much. It's average bar food, sloppy fries, I wanted to try more on their menu. Today I sat at the bar for 10 min before I got asked, I ordered a beer and the menu. The beer came and 10 min later the menu. 15 min later I finished my beer but the server decided to ignore me despite me trying to get her attention. I waited another 5 min, while she was serving the guys next to me. I paid my beer, zero tip, and left. I'm not sure if I come back!

We had a great visit to Sockeye. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean. We had a large party and were seated immediately. Nice selection of food choices on the menu, including the kids menu. Beer... good! Food... good. Our server was exceptional. She was super nice and worked hard to get everything we needed. Definitely on our list of places to return!

Went here on a slow Sunday to watch some football with my girl. Picked up the six sampler. Beer was okay. I liked the Galena Gold and the Amber that they brew. I was not terribly impressed with the food. The finger steaks were literally large, thin steaks that were battered and crazy greasy. Pretty bad. The salmon tacos were alright but loaded beyond all belief with pineapple chutney that fell all over the place when I attempted to take a bite. The flavor was good but that's the only thing I could say for it (my gf thought it was really bad). I probably won't ever go back but I'll pick up a 6-er of the Galena Gold at the store for sure.

Another stop on the Boise Reuben tour. Sockeye's is on toasted thin marble rye. Lots of kraut. I added a little mustard to make it a little more tangy. There is not to much dressing. The cheese is good though the beef was a little tough. The Dagger Falls is a hoppy beer like no other. I think it is my favorite beer on the planet. Sunday is fun during football season. Lots of screens to view and everyone has a good time enjoying the brunch menu. Free WiFi makes checking sports stats easy to access. Watch their Facebook page for specials.

I am a huge fan of the Dagger Falls IPA. That said, I'd give the place a 5 star if it were just for the beer. The other beers are all very nice as well, and they have been to satisfy most any taste. However, the food is barely "ok". I mean, the burgers are plain, taste like they were frozen, and lack seasoning. The fish dishes that I've tried are lacking flavor, the salmon cakes are lacking crunch, and taste canned. If you're going to order food, stick with the fries or the sweet potato fries. But, be sure to order the beer!

So holy cow this place is all about Salmon. I guess I didn't realize that when reading the name, and being that I am soon to be new to this area I didn't realize a sockeye was a type of Salmon. It all came together when I entered the bar & grill and a giant glowing eyed salmon was hanging on the wall. With that being said the Sockeye seems to be a nice little local microbrewery, I enjoyed the Gallena Summit Kolsch Ale (it had quite the kick) and my husband enjoyed his choice of the Dagger Falls IPA. We split some awesome clam chowder and the Coho & Chips. This is a salmon take on fish and chips, it was okay, I think I still prefer a good whitefish for a more traditional fish and chips, the salmon did seem a little dried out from the deep fry, but it was not greasy at all. I would definitely come back, if not to try something else off the menu then to sample some of the additional beers that they offer.

We got excited because of all the good reviews and wanted to try somewhere new but it was unfortunately a pretty big let down. The battered finger steaks were recommended by our waitress but they were flavor-less. I've never sent a dish back before, ever, I'm the type to feel too bad about it but I couldn't eat more than 2 pieces. The spicy burger was ok, but had way too much blue cheese on it to taste even the burger itself. The waitress also told us that they won Boise best burger, which I find hard to believe. The beer was pretty good though, so I'll give them that.

In Boise for an annual roller derby event - and I am definitely going to eat here again next year! Food was excellent. I had the salmon strip appetizer - glad I didn't get the entrée because I seriously got about 7-8 good sized pieces. Sweet potato fries were great. My husband got the salmon club sandwich and salad. There was absolutely nothing left of his meal. Our server Christy, was attentive and friendly. Didn't get to try their beer as we were travelling - next time! Also, my husband is a non-drinker so is a bit of an iced tea snob. He liked it so well he wanted refills, which rarely happens at restaurants! Way to go Sockeye!

Came here on a Tuesday night for a little brew, a little pub grub, and a little live music. And, had more than a little fun in the process. Ordered their classic nachos + black beans and pico to start. The server placed the plate on the table and my dining companion gasped, "whoa...they're not messin' around!" And, they aren't my people. They are not messing around. Their nachos are an ample platter full and generously topped with guacamole and sour cream. Overall, the flavor was a solid 3-star-a-ok. A great dish to nibble on while the band (Like a Rocket) began to play. We also ordered their full draft sampler tray, which is a tray of 3 oz samplers of every beer they have on tap (12 beers in total). Highlights for me were their Woolybugger Wheat Ale (and not because the biggest fish I ever caught was with a woolybugger fly...that was just a bonus word reference), the Sockeye Power House Porter, and the Belgian Strong Ale. My dining companion enjoyed the espresso stout. After about an hour of sipping, sampling, nibbling, and alt-country listening, we ordered their Sockeye Salmon fish & chips. The salmon is dipped into Angel's Perch Amber Ale batter and then golden fried. The fish was fabulous, the fries--*shrugs*--meh, just ok. I noticed later that they offer the salmon, prepared the same way, as an appetizer served without the fries which is definitely what I would do next time. The overall atmosphere is very casual and comfortable. The sort of place you instantly feel at ease in. The bartender provided our service (as our table was just a couple feet from the bar). He was friendly and attentive. Would love to come here when they have a band playing in the summer as they've got a pretty sweet patio space. Overall, about a 3.5 star experience. That said, it was definitely an experience I wouldn't mind repeating! Get to it!

Let me just say this. All I of their beer is amazing!! I don't even like IPAs, but I can respect the ones here. Best fish and chips on town, and the golden ale tastes like a budwieser done right! Everything here is awesome!

I've been going to the Sockeye with my family since it opened. I think I was still in high school when it opened. Anyway, I have since turned 21, moved to Portland and developed an intense love of beer. I always hit up the Sockeye when I visit my family in Boise. The Dagger Falls IPA is consistently wonderful. Hoppy, crisp and well-balanced. The Purple Haze Espresso Stout is one of the better coffee stouts I've tasted. The Summer seasonal Hopnoxious is a ridiculously tasty, and hoppy, double IPA. I also recommend the Winterfest, the Winter seasonal, if you are in town over the holidays. As for the food, I would say it's decent pub grub. The coho club sandwich is always a good bet, as are the black jack and chipotle burgers. The Brewhouse "wings", they're really chicken breast tenders, are hands down my favorite hot wings. Their hot sauce delivers all the flavor, heat and more one would expect in buffalo wing sauce. The wings are served with bleu cheese dressing done right. They start with bleu cheese dressing and add extra crumbled bleu cheese. Give them a try, even if you don't think you can handle a little heat. The bleu cheese is there to quench the heat. It's not like they're habenero hot. :) I cannot comment on the service. My family goes all the time, so we're always well taken care of by the staff. I would recommend sitting in the bar side if it isn't busy. They usually short staff the place when it isn't busy (Sundays), and you have a better chance of being noticed on the bar side.

Went looking for a sports bar and wanted to hit a local spot and Yelp showed us this place. We hit it during a Boise State tourney BB game and it was packed. Our server was pleasant and attentive, she recommended a good beer from their brewery so that was great but she wasn't very helpful with food choices. We found out why when y our food arrived and It was mediocre at best. Overall, I liked the bar but the lack of quality food will probably make me choose another establishment next time.

I tend to support anything that is local. That's why I dig Sockeye Brewing. They have a beer for what ever your taste may be and they have sports on the TVs. Not to mention I walked in the door and Stairway to Heaven was playing on the stereo. If you're in the area, Sockeye is a reliable spot to catch a brew.

We were loyal customers who were just shocked by a 40% price increase on the menu with no real upgrades to the food. We ordered our regular nacho which almost doubled in price. The nachos were served with different ingredients and were very greasy. We have ordered the same items for years and may never go back. This was the most disappointing change we have ever found at a restaurant . Most of the employees are good though.

I'm not afraid to admit it, I'm a regular here. I know the staff, they know me. So that may color my review but if I'm willing to hang out at this place and call it "my bar" I must like it for a reason. I love their beers. It's good stuff. They have what's known as the "big six" which are the brews they've always got plus plenty of seasonal brews fro variety. The food is really very good although a little "different" at times. GREAT Nachos. Despite the name, not everything is fish based. But the menu has a variety of foods although much of it is what you'd expect to find in a "brew pub" What sets this place apart is that they're not in a hurry to shuffle you on out. If you want to sit and nurse a beer they're fine with that as long as your not a jerk about it. If you decide to hang out and sip water after you've paid your tab, again that's fine. The staff is friendly and efficient. Even when we're at a big table with multiple tabs running they don't miss a beat. Of course as a regular they recognize me. But even when I'm at a table full of folks they don't know they're good. If you'd like to try the beers out they have a great sampler that's well worth the money. Like any place, when it's super busy the service slows down and it gets noisy. Make sure the Shook Twins aren't playing. They CRUSH the place and the beer line is 45 minutes. Not the bars fault. That brings up the next thing: they do have bands. And this is the one area I dislike. Bands, not just here but everywhere, seem to think we're there to listen to them. And that they're playing at the Colosseum. They play at volume 11. Every time. If I'm there to see friends I'd rather NOT scream over the top of the bad. If you want good local music and tasty beers the Sockeye is a good bet. If you just want the beers you can either sit outside or in the restaurant area instead of the bar. A better bet is to check out the website and see when a band is playing.

It kills me to have to drive to such a great brewery like Sockeye (I live in the North End). Otherwise, I'd pound the Dagger Falls IPA and delectable food menu.

  • Kristen A.

I love sockeye's brews-my favorite being Dagger Falls IPA. Their food was pretty good too, with yummy sweet potato fries. I only gave it 4 stars because the service was pretty bad. Had to wait around a lot for refills, bill, etc and things were forgotten. Was with a big group, but they knew we were coming ahead of time so not an excuse, and no apologies for the waiting and omissions. Dagger Falls is sold at many other establishments in Boise so I probably wouldn't be eager to go there again.

  • Big J.

I have been coming to sockeye for years and have always enjoyed the food and especially the beer. That is still good but since they torn down the wall between the bar and restaurant sections the noise level in the dining area is almost too loud to enjoy a quiet dinner with some good beer and friends. I wish they could do something to improve the atmosphere.

  • Corby G.

Before you put too much stock in my opinion, let me start by saying that I am not a big beer drinker. I have had some of their brews, and they are pretty good. But the food- not too good. The menu is typical bar type fare- sandwiches, salads, wings, etc. And not to say that the food is terrible, it's not. I have eaten here probably 8 times, and not once have I had something that I thought was particularly good. I can think of a dozen places like this I would rather eat in Boise, sadly including Applebees, TGIFridays or Chilis. HOWEVER- if you are a beer fan, they do have several that they brew on site and you can get a sampler- it's probably a pretty good stop for a beer lover, at least for Boise.

Yet another great session with the Dagger Falls and a coho salmon dinner. Service was good, despite a bar full of rowdy Broncos fans on Saturday night. I still think this is my favorite craft brewery restaurant in America. A true five-star craft brewery; but I rate within categories so don't expect gourmet dining!

Without question best beer in the valley! Dagger IPA is like being punched in the face by awesomeness. Get a growler and fill up! Had most of their beers and haven't tasted a bad beer from the joint. Food is average brew pub grub but who the hell cares, your at a brewery not a foodery.

decent beer and mediocre food saved this from nothing. The service is without a doubt horrible and rude. The quality of what i think are somewhat edible onion rings is diminished by the delivery of a nearly empty bottle of ketchup. but lets not forget the menu drop / greeting because it took over 10 minutes to be noticed after we had been seated. The delivery of a soda ordered 15 minutes prior to reception was not becoming of the server either. With the restaurant only filled to nearly one quarter capacity I would expect much more. I doubt it very much i will be patronizing this restaurant again. Apart from a having beer thats made in house that isnt a complete mess this restaurant/bar is quite possibly skimming the edge of being a dump to be avoided along with the city it calls home.

The beer is pretty good if you like hoppy beer. The service however is terrible. You will wait forever to get greeted, drink refills and the like. The food is just OK. It seems as though no one is managing this place. Maybe the manager is in back tasting new beers.

Came home to visit the family and hang in Boise for a few days with my new wife and let her see the potato capital and met the family. Flew in mid morning and met the parents at the airport and then off to our hotel then the Sockeye. I spent 22 years in Portland Oregon and enjoyed the Micro brew on every corner for most of that time and have become very fond on new and unique beers across our great land. Were met at the door by the owners and seated and had a great conversation about their brewing and beers. We just had appetizers and drinks and enjoyed it all very much Beer selection is way good and you have to try the sockeye cakes and onion rings. The service was great and I will be back soon my tshirt is wearing out guys so I need another one. Thank you for the great adventure in your establishment and you guys rock Boise... Big Love

Came to Sockeye with friends to watch the Ducks play in the National Championship. They had a whole room all set up in the back for Ducks fans. They let everyone set up banners, decorate tables, brought in an extra, portable flat screen TV - it was a fantastic setup and a great party. Several of the staff were off for the game and came in to watch with the regulars. Jason, the bartender, must have walked 100 miles that night keeping us fed and happy. The El Capitan is on tap and delicious, hoppy and full-bodied. I had the boneless hot-wings which are REALLY hot and flavorful. All in all - another great night at Boise's best neighborhood bar.

Honestly, we didn't find very many great places to eat in Boise. But we did find Sockeye, which we enjoyed. They offered outdoor seating and live music. The musicians was good and fairly engaging with the crowd, and the service was great! We loved their brew choices and sampled a few while we were there. I'd recommend this brewery over a handful of others in the area. The food was pretty typical of a brewery -- but then again, we went for the beer more so than the food.

i went here with some family on vacation, and i was very impressed. their beer sampler menu was only nine beers when i went, and aside from the hoppy selections, i enjoyed them all. my favorite was the horse thief hefe, but i'm partial to hefe's. for an appetizer we got the sweet potato fries that come with a delicious chipotle/mayo dip. the cut on the fries was thin, and after a round of these, i'd say i prefer steak-cut sweet potato fries. while the dip is good and spicy, you have to remind yourself that you're shoveling mayo down your gullet, and cut back a bit. i ate a spicy chicken wrap for my meal and it was terrific in both the taste and filling departments. i was stuffed by the time i finished, but i couldn't stop munching on the sweet potato fries! the staff was mostly helpful and very welcoming. we were seated indoors at first, but they were more than happy to clean up that table and get us a larger one outside when more people showed up. i was trying to pick a good beer for my dad to order (he's old and picky, but couldn't decide on a beer after drinking all the samplers) and the bar maid gave me samples in order to make a good choice. free beer! i settled on the kolsch, and i'd say my dad enjoyed it since he had several pints of it. there's not much boise has to offer, so if you get stuck there, get some local brew at sockeye.

Sockeye is a small micro brewery offering a wide selection of beer. They brew Hell Divers Pale Ale, Powerhouse Porter, Woolybuger wheat, Angel Perch amber and several other microbrews. The best beer was the Seasonal special - the Creme Ale. They have a 10 beer sampler tray to help you decide which beer is right for you. They have a large menu with plenty of bar favorites, but they specialize in salmon dinners......... hence the name. The menu has "Pub Grub" and " Keg sized meals." They have an appetizer platter that will feed two or three people as a meal. It is composed of Teriake and Hot wings, onion rings, brew fries, and Finger steaks. I can not imagine eating more food after downing platter. The portions are really huge. The servers are a bit slow but very knowledgable. ( I'm told that the usual ladies that serve the patio are top notch.) An enjoyable place ,,,, with a beer that will fit every taste

When in Rome, or in this case, Boise, Idaho... check out Sockeye Grill & Brewery! I went with one goal, enjoy some local brews, and I was not disappointed. I was there on a Monday night, during Monday night football, so the bar area was fairly crowded. I talked with a lot of friendly local folks, which is what you will find here, friendly locals. The bartender, Jason, was a good dude, full of beer info. and suggestions. The atmosphere is easy going, don't expect super fast service, but everyone is super nice. During the football game, a 16oz brew is $3.00, how can you beat that? I enjoyed two outstanding, yet different brews: 1.) The Dagger Falls IPA, talk about a wonderful hoppy brew, highly recommended, and 2.) Power House Porter, another great creation, it's dark brown with a slight chocolate top note, certainly different. Their food menu is nothing spectacular, but they do have a few good select items. I was given these recommendations by the locals that I encountered. First, if the place has "Sockeye" in the name you gotta trust the fish. The best thing I had was the Coho skewer, it was very good. The glaze on the fish was tasty, and it includes some good chunks of fish. I also had a bowl of the Hobo Soup, which was a hearty mix of everything, with a dark broth, between the two it was a filling meal...the beers also helped. Go for great beer, and a friendly local atmosphere, but be selective on the food. Look for Jason at the bar, good guy!

Big Love

The beer is pretty good if you like hoppy beer. The service however is terrible. You will wait forever to get greeted, drink refills and the like. The food is just OK. It seems as though no one is managing this place. Maybe the manager is in back tasting new beers.

Sockeye is nice place with good food and good beer. I had the woolybugger hefy, very good (I'm a hefy fan). I just had a top choice burger with some peperjack. It was really good I got the sweet potato fries instead of regular and am I ever glad! They were the best sweet potato fries i have ever had! Shawn had the Brat Keg size meal. He enjoyed it very much it was enough food he couldn't finish it all. Overall is on my top 3 places to eat and more importantly drink while I'm visiting Boise. The Staff was very friendly, the food and the beer were awesome. If you have the time go here, you will be glad you did.

Great beer and great food. They are always changing their selection of home-brews and I've never had a bad one. Their finger steaks and sweet potato fries are probably the best I've had. Everyone I've ever taken here has only had good things to say about it.

i went here with some family on vacation, and i was very impressed. their beer sampler menu was only nine beers when i went, and aside from the hoppy selections, i enjoyed them all. my favorite was the horse thief hefe, but i'm partial to hefe's. for an appetizer we got the sweet potato fries that come with a delicious chipotle/mayo dip. the cut on the fries was thin, and after a round of these, i'd say i prefer steak-cut sweet potato fries. while the dip is good and spicy, you have to remind yourself that you're shoveling mayo down your gullet, and cut back a bit. i ate a spicy chicken wrap for my meal and it was terrific in both the taste and filling departments. i was stuffed by the time i finished, but i couldn't stop munching on the sweet potato fries! the staff was mostly helpful and very welcoming. we were seated indoors at first, but they were more than happy to clean up that table and get us a larger one outside when more people showed up. i was trying to pick a good beer for my dad to order (he's old and picky, but couldn't decide on a beer after drinking all the samplers) and the bar maid gave me samples in order to make a good choice. free beer! i settled on the kolsch, and i'd say my dad enjoyed it since he had several pints of it. there's not much boise has to offer, so if you get stuck there, get some local brew at sockeye.

Great food & patio. We sat on the patio, it's completely shaded and very comfortable. Our food was really good, I had a Thai chicken wrap and my friend had a French dip, he inhaled it. I'd come here again, nice place. Only thing I'd say is the women's bathroom could use a makeover.

**Only had a beer! Review for bar only** I am not from Boise, but my boyfriend is. Through him, I'd heard plenty about the Sockeye before ever visiting Boise. On my first visit, we made a point to stop-in for a beer. Unfortunately, we didn't realize how late it was and they were about this close. Fortunately, this place and its employees are awesome and let us sneak in for a quick drink. Service was great. Bartender and servers loved talking beer and were laid back, easy to talk to people- commendable after at the end of a long shift, for sure. Beer was wonderful. We both ordered the imperial IPA which was a full 12oz pour in a snifter. We also picked up a sixer of the Powerhouse Porter to take home. Both are absolutely delicious, full flavored, and well crafted examples of why you should support great local breweries like the Sockeye.

The food was great, the beer was even better! We went to the Cole location during lunch with a large party of people and the service was great. The decor is lacking here and it looks like an old Sizzler but that didn't bother me for a informal lunch gathering. We wish they had a more updated location with a private seating area because we wanted to do a rehearsal dinner with them :(

Went with some friends to watch a game. Ordered two burgers (med rare) and French dip. Waited 20 minutes and got well done burgers with burnt bacon. It was not busy at all and looked like most people had been served. However the waitress was very accommodating and attentive to our drinks. Probably won't be back though.

They brew all their own beers which is great. Unfortunately they do not have a lot of just regular domestic beers ex. Coors bud etc. if give the food a 4/5 good fish sandwich. Also great place to grab a beer on the patio after work in the summer

Pros: The beer is excellent! The food is consistently good: their Hell Diver Finger Steaks are the best in town, the burger's are huge messy and amazing, the Fire Boneless Wings are wonderfully spicy, & the recently added brunch menu is great (get the Power House French Toast, seriously). The bar area & patio are both large and very comfortable. It's local, which goes a very very long way with me. They regularly have live music. Cons: The service can be super hit or miss: the same server can be rude one night and awesome the next, and it can be really slow on a busy night. You are never greeted at the door by staff or signage, which has left many people standing in the entrance awkwardly wondering what to do, it's not a problem for me since I'm there often, but you can see the look of confusion on the faces of newcomers. Not good. The "main dinning area" is awkwardly arranged. I know they are housed in a building that has been remodeled multiple times, but the dinning area feels really remote and cut off from the rest of the establishment, so much so that you end up feeling forgotten. They regularly have live music. (yup it's both a pro & a con, I like it, The Mister hates it) Overall: Go when you want great beer, good food, & have a few hours to enjoy it, avoid the main dinning area & don't expect the servers to be your "bestest buddy" and you'll have a really nice evening.

I have been to this place three times. I knew I loved their beer--though I like their pale ale more than their very popular IPA; but I have grown to really love the restaurant too. The menu is Salmon heavy (which my daughter loves!) but for a brewery, it has a nice diverse menu. The last time I went, I brought my wife and my mother. We all left happy!

My wife and I had a late lunch there two days ago. Both meals were excellent as was the service. The Sockeye has a nice upscale (for Boise) neighborhood feel. We each had a craft beer the was a perfect compliment to our meals. I recommend without reservation!

Sockeye has some great beers on tap and an excellent location. I have met many friends here because of their beer and hot food. I have never been here on live music nights, however the place seems to be rocking on those nights. A major dent in my review comes with the service. Although I have never dealt with a rude server or bartender here, I have noticed that service tends to be very slow in the dining area as opposed to the bar tables. One afternoon I met a friend here and paid with my credit card with the afternoon bartender and tipped in cash. When I received the card statement, I found that the bartender added that cash tip on to the charged total amount. Thankfully when I called and spoke with the manager, the issue was promptly settled and the extra charges were dropped. Around that same time I had another friend who asked to have a wine delivered to one of his coworkers who happened to be there - the wine was never delivered, but he was charged for it. If it weren't for the beer, location, food, and the manager's quick response to the card issue, I would probably pass this place by. However this is still my neighborhood pub with a locally-oriented presence, so I will keep coming.

Not sure why all the negative reviews for this place! We came here for a quick bite on a Saturday afternoon. The service was fast, the beer sampler was delicious, and the food was great. Between the four of us dining, we had a burger, sandwich, salad, and nachos. Everyone enjoyed their meals very much. It's bar food, but fresh and well-made. We will definitely be back next time we're in Boise!

Was looking for a pub to take my boyfriend. We ordered the tray of ales to try and steak fries since neither one of us had had them before. Okay food, poor service. Don't expect fast refills on sodas. They seem to only pay attention to those ordering beer. Waiters ask those at my table if they wanted more beer while I had to ask the waiter myself for more soda. Not going back.

This place came off as a TGI Fridays or Chilis meets brewery...Between the layout and atmosphere, it just had that restaurant chain vibe to it. The food was pretty average, and so were the beers; although one did taste like feet. You get a large portion to sample, but some were very similar to each other. The Sockeye IPA is a good buy if you're looking for something to drink from a can, but I'd go some place else to eat or watch a game.

Went to Sockeye to watch the Monday Night Football game. Arrived and found a table by a TV but the TV wasn't on the football game. Asked for it to be tuned on and waiter didn't seem to know what the Monday Night game is. After he tuned it on I noticed no sound so I asked him to turn it up. He told me that to turn that one up he would have to turn them all up. All the other TVs were already tuned to the game and I was clearly not the only person watching the game. Watched for a while with no sound and asked to pay for my drink. I told him the reason I was leaving because I couldn't hear the game and he told me that they might turn up the sound later if there is a later game. LoL.

Best beer in Idaho. Have a handful of staple drinks (IPA, Porter, and Wheat are all excellent) and there's always a healthy selection of seasonals on tap (if Purple Haze Espresso Stout is on... get it!) As for the menu, their seafood dishes are the way to go, lots of excellent flavor. Love this place.

Get to it!

Let me just say this. All I of their beer is amazing!! I don't even like IPAs, but I can respect the ones here. Best fish and chips on town, and the golden ale tastes like a budwieser done right! Everything here is awesome!

Great food & patio. We sat on the patio, it's completely shaded and very comfortable. Our food was really good, I had a Thai chicken wrap and my friend had a French dip, he inhaled it. I'd come here again, nice place. Only thing I'd say is the women's bathroom could use a makeover.

GREAT power house Beer a chocolate and coffee beer. Food is always good and comes out hot. Place is full, music on the patio is nice. Must try the Salmon cakes.

    (4)
  • Patrick L.

    (4)
  • Kim H.

My wife and I had a late lunch there two days ago. Both meals were excellent as was the service. The Sockeye has a nice upscale (for Boise) neighborhood feel. We each had a craft beer the was a perfect compliment to our meals. I recommend without reservation!

LoL.

Have a handful of staple drinks (IPA, Porter, and Wheat are all excellent) and there's always a healthy selection of seasonals on tap (if Purple Haze Espresso Stout is on... get it!) I tend to support anything that is local. That's why I dig Sockeye Brewing. They have a beer for what ever your taste may be and they have sports on the TVs. Not to mention I walked in the door and Stairway to Heaven was playing on the stereo. If you're in the area, Sockeye is a reliable spot to catch a brew.

It kills me to have to drive to such a great brewery like Sockeye (I live in the North End). Otherwise, I'd pound the Dagger Falls IPA and delectable food menu.

Cannot say enough about this place. They got our baseball team right in on a Friday night! Great beer, amazing service and the food was fantastic and reasonable!! Live band made me want to ditch the kids and come back, hopefully next time!

I have been coming to sockeye for years and have always enjoyed the food and especially the beer. That is still good but since they torn down the wall between the bar and restaurant sections the noise level in the dining area is almost too loud to enjoy a quiet dinner with some good beer and friends. I wish they could do something to improve the atmosphere.

i went here with some family on vacation, and i was very impressed. their beer sampler menu was only nine beers when i went, and aside from the hoppy selections, i enjoyed them all. my favorite was the horse thief hefe, but i'm partial to hefe's. for an appetizer we got the sweet potato fries that come with a delicious chipotle/mayo dip. the cut on the fries was thin, and after a round of these, i'd say i prefer steak-cut sweet potato fries. while the dip is good and spicy, you have to remind yourself that you're shoveling mayo down your gullet, and cut back a bit. i ate a spicy chicken wrap for my meal and it was terrific in both the taste and filling departments. i was stuffed by the time i finished, but i couldn't stop munching on the sweet potato fries! the staff was mostly helpful and very welcoming. we were seated indoors at first, but they were more than happy to clean up that table and get us a larger one outside when more people showed up. i was trying to pick a good beer for my dad to order (he's old and picky, but couldn't decide on a beer after drinking all the samplers) and the bar maid gave me samples in order to make a good choice. free beer! i settled on the kolsch, and i'd say my dad enjoyed it since he had several pints of it. there's not much boise has to offer, so if you get stuck there, get some local brew at sockeye.
